The Cheval Blanc comes from 25 plots that are kept separate until the assemblage. The vines have remained in essentially the same configuration since 1871. While 1987 was not a much-heralded vintage in Bordeaux for long-aging wines, this wine was noted early on by critics, and in the estate's review of the vintage nearly 20 years on, as an engaging, lighter-bodied and aromatic wine.
