Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A seductive soft, fleshy effort with medium dark ruby color, plump, fat ripeness, and a nicely textured finish ... (RP)" (4/2003) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Lively aromas of black cherry and violet. Sweet, supple cherry/berry flavors enlivened by firm acids. Nicely rich and persistent on the finish, which features even tannins. (ST)" (5/2001) Wine Spectator: "Gorgeous aromas of ripe fruit and perfumes. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a medium finish. Very silky wine. (JL)" (3/2003)

2000 Labégorce, Margaux

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "If Margaux is the most delicate of the Médoc wines, then this is the epitome of Margaux. It is light, poised and attractively perfumed. The fruit is elegant and fresh with a fine streak of acidity." (6/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Soft, ripe, and fruity, with big, smoky, charred berry-like scents intermixed with tobacco and plum aromas, this medium-bodied 2000 is best drunk over the next 8-10 years." (4/2003) Wine Spectator: "Beautiful aromas of spices, berries and plums. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a clean finish. Best after 2005." 2000 Terrey-Gros-Cailloux, St-Julien

According to Decanter Magazine,"The layout of the parcels making up this 15ha property means that they touch on nearly all the classed growths of the appellation. The wine seems to combine all of the virtues of Saint-Julien – richness, fruit, roundness, generosity – without the price tag of the classed growths." We recently carried the 1997, which sold out almost immediately after it came in. We think this is a great follow up from an even better vintage. Decant one hour and enjoy.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. But so much there. Just coming around now. Delicious. It will never be in the opulent Bordeaux camp, despite its prominent new wood flavors, but will probably outlive all but a handful top wines." (6/2003) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Lovely berry, spice and leather aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with firm and silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. (3/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A strong showing for this estate, which has been a perennial underachiever, the 2000 Ferriere exhibits a sweet cherry, black currant, leafy tobacco, and damp earth-scented bouquet. (3/2003) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A very strong effort for Gruaud Larose, possibly eclipsed by what they have done in 2009, this is a pure, full-bodied Gruaud Larose with plenty of new saddle leather, cedar wood, black currants, cherries, licorice, and Provencal herbs. Showing incredibly well at two tastings of 2000s, the wine has a dense bluish/purple color and a beautiful nose of incense, melted asphalt, and creme de cassis as well as hints of new saddle leather and licorice. Opulent, savory, rich, and full-bodied, it is a head-turning, prodigious wine and a complete contrast to the extracted behemoth of Leoville Barton and the backward, classic Leoville Las Cases. 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Gerard Perse's 2000 Pavie Decesse, a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from a vineyard situated above Pavie, on the steep limestone hillsides outside the walled town of St.-Emilion, is a fabulous effort (all the Perse wines are stunning in this vintage). Notes of camphor, creme de cassis, violets, black currants, cedar, and licorice jump from the glass of this inky/purple-hued offering. Monumental richness, sensational sweet tannin, a skyscraper-like mid-palate, and a 45+-second finish result in an extraordinary wine that is just reaching its pl ...Read More »

2000 La Fleur-Pétrus, Pomerol

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a wonderful, dense wine, very concentrated, very intensely flavored. At this stage of its development, it is the opulence which is most evident, but there are already hints that it will show pure fruit alongside sweet tannins, and will develop complexity. (RV)" (6/2003) 93 points James Suckling: "A delicious nose of black olives, brown sugar, and sliced plums. Full bodied but shy, with a dense palate and soft and silky tannins. Flavors of milk chocolate, plums, and light vanilla bean come through. This is so good now, but wait three to four years to really see it shine. ...Read More »

2000 Marquis de Terme, Margaux

92 points Wine Spectator: "Lots of earthy, crushed berry and floral aromas. Full-bodied, with lots of good fruit and moist, velvety tannins. Long finish. Don't forget this. No one talks about this estate any more, and it makes very good wines in top vintages. Best after 2010." (3/2003) Jancis Robinson: "Definitely solid and chunky rather than high-flying but very worthy with such ripeness there are almost chocolate flavours, a dry finish and impressive length." (10/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The only vintage after 1996 that merits attention from serious wine lovers, the 2000 Marquis de Terme has a dense, murky ruby/purple ...Read More »

2000 Latour à Pomerol, Pomerol

95 points Wine Spectator: "A wine with a reserved, yet complex nose of blackberries, raspberries and flowers. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a soft, sweet fruit finish. A beautiful wine to taste. Hard not to drink this. Best I have had in years. The real thing. Better than the 1998." (3/2003) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An outstanding, medium to full-bodied effort, the 2000 Latour a Pomerol exhibits a plum/purple color, admirable texture, medium to full body, and notes of caramels, truffles, sweet earth, and cola interwoven with black cherry liqueur and plums. Pure, deep, and classic, with moderately high ...Read More »

2000 Siran, Margaux

92 points Wine Spectator: "A lovely wine from this château. Aromas of crushed blackberries and raspberries. Full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a long refreshing finish. Very racy. Best after 2009." (3/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Highly-extracted, powerful, chewy, ripe black currant aromas mixed with fennel, leather, iron, and new oak jump from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple-colored 2000. Full, dense, moderately tannic, and potentially long-lived...Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020." (4/2003) Wine Enthusiast: "...it has elegance and style, along with fine, ripe perfumed fruit and attractive, balancing acidity. ...Read More »

(3/2003) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium ruby. Inky, minerally aromas of black cherry and menthol, plus a touch of raw oak. Concentrated, sweet flavor of black cherry. Not yet complex but ripe and persistent." (5/2001)

2000 Le Defi de Fontinel, Fronsac

Gorgeous wine from the ‘home base’ of Michel Rolland. Actually classified as a non-vintage red wine, which is addressed within the context of Parker’s review, along with 89-91 points… ‘An exciting, exotic, exuberant, lush, opulently-styled wine for drinking over the next 7-8 years. It is loaded with smoke-infused, coffee, berry, and chocolately fruit, low acidify, glycerin, and fat. The appellation authorities should be embarrassed that this wine is not considered legitimate.
