2000 Dalem, Fronsac

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A seductive soft, fleshy effort with medium dark ruby color, plump, fat ripeness, and a nicely textured finish ... (RP)" (4/2003) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Lively aromas of black cherry and violet. Sweet, supple cherry/berry flavors enlivened by firm acids. Nicely rich and persistent on the finish, which features even tannins. (ST)" (5/2001) Wine Spectator: "Gorgeous aromas of ripe fruit and perfumes. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a medium finish. Very silky wine. (JL)" (3/2003)

2000 Meyney, St-Estèphe

Wine Enthusiast: "Typical of Saint-Estèphe, this wine is totally closed up. It is more tannins than fruit at this stage of its development. But it is obvious that there is fruit there, and that it will develop. But for now, it's a case of watch this space." (6/2003) Wine Spectator: "Love the spicy, nutmeg and floral nose to this. Medium-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a medium finish. Tight now, but should come around. Should be a bit better." (3/2003)

2000 Les Ormes de Pez, St-Estèphe

91 points James Suckling: "So youthful now with lots of thick spicy fruit. Still tight but loads going on. Thick and powerful. A little four square. But there. Serious." (6/2016) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "No tasting note given." (12/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fully mature, this nice chunky, fleshy wine displays notes of jus de viande, roasted herbs, plum sauce, black currants, and sweet cherries in a medium-bodied, savory, fruit-forward style. (RP)" (6/2010) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red-ruby. Medicinal black cherry, shoe polish and mint on the nose. 2000 l'Arrosee, St-Emilion

92 points Wine Spectator: "Powerful and decadent young red. Lots of smoky, berry and cherry character. Full-bodied and very chewy, with loads of fruit. This always impresses me, with its rich and decadent character. Best after 2009. (JS)" (1/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The resurgence of l’Arrosee that we’ve seen over the last four or five years is not apparent in the 2000. It has matured quickly, revealing an orange/rust color at its rim. Notes of earth, herbes de Provence, black cherries, red currants, and dusty, loamy soil undertones are present in this elegant, fully mature, medium-bodied 2000. (RP) ...Read More »

2000 Labegorce, Margaux (1.5L)

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "If Margaux is the most delicate of the Médoc wines, then this is the epitome of Margaux. It is light, poised and attractively perfumed. The fruit is elegant and fresh with a fine streak of acidity. (RV)" (6/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Soft, ripe, and fruity, with big, smoky, charred berry-like scents intermixed with tobacco and plum aromas... (RP)" (4/2003) Wine Spectator: "Beautiful aromas of spices, berries and plums. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a clean finish. 2000 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac Top Pick!
2000 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Grand Puy Lacoste is even better than such recent vintages as 2005 and 2009. A broad, classic, large-scaled effort, it boasts a deep blue/purple color as well as tell-tale notes of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, flowers, and unsmoked tobacco. Powerful, full-bodied flavors have shed a lot of tannin, but they remain relatively youthful. This is a young adolescent, broadly flavored Pauillac with an enticing texture as well as abundant richness and fruit. It can be enjoyed now, but promises to hit its peak in five years, and last for two decades. * ...Read More »

But so much there. Just coming around now. Delicious. (JS)" (7/2013) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fully mature and very attractive, the 2000 Brane Cantenac, which started a succession of brilliant wines from this famous estate in the Margaux appellation, has a dark plum/ruby/purple color, a sweet, juicy nose of blue, red, and black fruits, and a hint of damp earth as well as subtle herbs. The wine is rich, textured, succulent, and impressively pure and long. (The finish goes on for a good 40+ seconds.) This is serious stuff and a sleeper of the vintage. (RP)" (4/2003) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and earthy, with berry, game and cherry aromas. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and a long, opulent fruity, vanilla aftertaste. Very well-done. 2000 Larcis Ducasse, St-Emilion

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a spectacular terroir that has underachieved for years. However, hotshot guru Stephane Derenoncourt is behind the winemaking as of 2002, so everyone is expecting quality to soar. A pre-Derenoncourt wine, the 2000 is the finest Larcis Ducasse produced in many years. Full-bodied and ripe, with intense, herb-tinged black cherry fruit, admirable texture and mid-palate, this elegant, moderately tannic, dark ruby-colored wine is far superior to recent efforts. 2000 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The plushest, most ostentatious and dramatic of all the Leovilles in 2000, this wine is already sumptuous, displaying some nuances in its huge nose of vanilla bean, black chocolate, jammy black cherries, cassis, and graphite in a flamboyant style. Opulent, savory, rich, and full-bodied, it is a head-turning, prodigious wine and a complete contrast to the extracted behemoth of Leoville Barton and the backward, classic Leoville Las Cases. (7/2013) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful wine and one of my favorites from this estate, this blend of nearly two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third Merlot is aging impressively. Faugeres has turned out an opaque black/purple-colored 2000 displaying aromas of ink, blackberry liqueur, licorice, and toasty oak. Seamless, rich, and full-bodied, with even more weight and length than it revealed prior to bottling, it is a reasonably-priced, serious wine that merits attention from consumers. Delicious stuff! It will never be in the opulent Bordeaux camp, despite its prominent new wood flavors, but will probably outlive all but a handful top wines." (6/2003) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Lovely berry, spice and leather aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with firm and silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. In fact, the latter vintage may well end up being the modern-day reference point for La Conseillante. Nevertheless, there’s a lot to be said for this 2000. An elegant, gentle style that is never a blockbuster, the 2000 La Conseillante has a deep ruby/plum/purple color and an unbelievably expressive nose of sweet kirsch liqueur intermixed with raspberries, incense, toast, and licorice. Opaque purple-colored, with gorgeous ripeness and richness, a big, sweet mid-palate, and a seamless finish revealing loads of fruit, chocolate, glycerin, and ripe tannin, this opulently-styled 2000 will have few detractors. It is hard not to be totally seduced by this effort. Kudos to proprietor Bernard Magrez and his omnipresent oenologist, Michel Rolland. Bravo!" (04/03)

2000 Latour-Martillac, Pessac-Léognan

94 points Wine & Spirits: "No tasting note given." (12/2003) 92 points Wine Spectator: "This pumps out some solid red and black currant confiture notes, with tarry but overall polished structure. Anise, warm pain d'épices and a lingering alder note add length on the finish. Very solid. (JM, Web-2016)" Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sweet cedar, plum, currant, and fresh herbs cascade from this evolved, dense ruby/purple-colored 2000. The flavors mirror the aromas - big, sweet, flamboyant notes of cedar, mulberries, black currants, and smoke can be found. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, concentrated, and substantial... 2000 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe

94 points Wine & Spirits: "No tasting note given." (12/2003) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "For a Saint-Estèphe this is surprisingly supple at this stage. The density is all in the exotic fruit, while the tannins are more of a background. That suggests this is a wine that will develop relatively fast, but it is going to give great pleasure along the way." (6/2003) 93 points James Suckling: "Shows age now with aromas of tobacco, plums and smoked meat. Licorice too. Full-bodied, round and soft with plenty of attractive tertiary character." (10/2016) 92 points Wine Spectator: "This is showing noticeable maturity, with dark plum and currant fruit flavors now well-ingrained ...Read More »

2000 Montrose, St-Estèphe

96 points James Suckling: "Just starting to open, it shows beautiful spices and dark fruit on the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied with ultra-fine, integrated tannins and an extremely complex, refined finish. Drink or hold." (4/2014) 96 points Wine Spectator: "Aromas of mint, berry and licorice follow through to a full-bodied palate that is thick and rich yet refined and reserved. This is dense and well-structured, with loads of vanilla, berry and lightly roasted fruit. Powerful but still holding back. Compacted and dense. (JS, Web-2006)" 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dense ruby/purple, with a bouquet of blueberry, crushed rock, and some f ...Read More »

2000 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "With its distinctive antique bottle and gold etched label dominated by a sheep, this is definitely a move away from classic Bordeaux bottling. It is good that the wine can support the presentation. The fruit is so ripe, it almost tastes of raisins, but that sweetness is finely balanced by the dry tannins and concentrated texture. To finish, there are exotic spices, giving an almost oriental character to the long aftertaste." (6/2003) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Perhaps the most beautiful packaging ever on a Bordeaux bottle, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild literally produced a work ...Read More »

With aromas of violets, minerals, spices, cool stones, mint, dark fruits, and plum skins, this is beautiful. Very much still a baby right now, it needs much more time. This is a wine for the next generation. Finesse and elegance, truly a wine that makes you contemplate life. This is not about power, there is really nothing like it. 93% Cabernet Sauvignon.
