2000 Chasse-Spleen, Moulis

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index’s 2000 tasting in London. This is reticent on the nose at first, but opens up nicely with time, blackberry, plum, black coffee, cedar and a slight estuarine note. The palate is full-bodied with grippy tannins on the entry, firm backbone and good depth. Stern and masculine, a saline note towards the cedar and tobacco scented, sappy finish. This is a great showing for Chasse Spleen and comes recommended for the vintage. Drink 2012-2030. Tasted March 2010. 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years. But then the subtle, perfumed aromas and structured fruit show through, along with the clean acidity and black tannic fruits. Give this wine at least 12 years before opening. (RV)" (6/2003) 93 points James Suckling: "This is just starting to open up on the nose with tobacco, plums and currants throughout. 2000 Lagrange, St-Julien

93 points James Suckling: "A wine that is just starting to wake up after a long sleep. It’s medium-to-full-bodied, with super-integrated tannins and a lead-pencil, currant and berry character. Lemon peel undertones. Lovely silky texture. Drink now and beyond." (7/2013) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An impressive performance by Lagrange, the 2000 possesses a saturated ruby/purple color with obvious notes of melted licorice, creme de cassis, and toasty new oak. (6/2010) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Subtle, yet rich. Refined, yet powerful. Full-bodied, with super silky tannins, yet it's elegant and caressing. Joy to taste. Fantastic l'Oratoire. From the same people who bring you La Mondotte and Canon-La Gaffelière. Best after 2010." (3/2003) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium ruby. The wine is deep, full-bodied, and powerful, with a lot of structure but also a lot of sweetness. I would not touch a bottle for at least another 5-6 years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018. 2000 Les Fiefs de Lagrange, St-Julien

90 points John Gilman: "The 2000 vintage of Les Fiefs de Lagrange is noteworthy for having had all of the château’s Petit Verdot included in the second label, and the wine should prove to be quite ageworthy as a result. The bouquet is initially a bit marked by its toasty oak, which may mean that this vintage of Les Fiefs saw a bit more than the standard ten percent, but there is no issue with the integration of the wood on the palate. The bouquet is deep and powerful, as it offers up notes of black cherries, cassis, tobacco leaf, dark chocolate, soil tones and the toasty oak. O ...Read More »

From bottle, the 2000 Ferrand Lartigue has weight, expansiveness, structure as well as tannin, suggesting 1-2 years of cellaring is warranted. Cassis, licorice, tobacco smoke, and sweet fruit provide an expressive, medium to full-bodied personality. Long, pure, and impressively built, it will be drinkable between 2005-2015. This 2000 will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring (longer than I originally predicted), and has at least two decades of drinkability ahead of it. (RP)" (06/2010)

2000 Prieuré-Lichine, Margaux Back In Stock!
2000 Prieuré-Lichine, Margaux

93 points James Suckling: "This is very dense and rich now with sweet tobacco, dried berry and mahogany character. Full body with velvety tannins and a juicy finish. A long life ahead of it. Improving with age." (7/2013) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Under new ownership, Prieuré-Lichine continues its rapid quality improvement. The wine is concentrated, with dark tannins and brooding fruit, dominated by new wood. It is rich, but also structured for a steady development..." (6/2003) 91 points Wine Spectator: "A solid young red, with big, velvety tannins and lots of ripe fruit, tobacco and chocolate character. Long, fresh finish. One of the be ...Read More »

2000 Cantenac Brown, Margaux

92 points Wine Spectator: "Fascinating aromas of chocolate, meat and ripe berry follow through to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a long, delicious finish. A beauty here. Best wine ever from this property. Best after 2010. (JS)" (3/2003) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "A hugely concentrated wine showing chewy, but ripe tannins. Smooth, polished fruit combines with well-balanced wood and suppressed power. This is certainly a wine that will develop well... (RV)" (6/2003) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Among the finest Cantenac-Browns of the last three decades, the saturated purple-colored 2000 is a sleeper of the vintage. Loaded with ...Read More »

2000 Haut-Marbuzet, St-Estèphe

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "The aromas are all dominated by new wood. But to taste, this super cru bourgeois is all about fruit. It is sweet, generous, not having typical Saint-Estèphe tannins, but showing more elegance. A great success." (6/2003) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Always a high achiever. Rich red, with spice, vanilla and plummy character. Full- to medium-bodied, with plenty of rounded tannins and a medium finish. Bit tough now, but better with time." (3/2003) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full deep red. Exotic aromas of black raspberry, baked plum, licorice and roasted meat. Lush, sweet, round and fat, with a mineral firmness ...Read More »

2000 Tronquoy-Lalande, St-Estèphe

(Web-2001) (JS)" Decanter: "Rich, dense fruit, some velvet, attractively concentrated. Richly fat and full. No glory yet, just very good ingredients. Drink 2-10 years." (6/2013)

2000 Dauzac, Margaux Back In Stock!
2000 Dauzac, Margaux

91 points Wine Spectator: "Sleek and powerful. A firm and silky red, with plum and chocolate character. Full-bodied, with compacted fruit and silky tannins. Long and silky. Needs lots of time in the bottle. Best after 2009. 8,330 cases made. (JS)" (3/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of chocolate along with roasted meats, charcoal, black currants, and damp earthy scents jump from the glass of this dense ruby/purple-colored 2000. Highly-extracted, medium to full-bodied, chewy, not terribly complex, but big, corpulent, and bold, if it pulls itself together and develops additional nuances, this wine will m ...Read More »

2000 Clerc-Milon, Pauillac (1.5L)

92 points Robert Parker: "A beautiful wine and one of my favorites from this estate, this blend of nearly two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third Merlot is aging impressively. Dense ruby/purple in color, with creme de cassis, charcoal, and sweet leathery and chocolatey notes intermixed with the classic Pauillac cedar and spice box, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy, with sweet tannin and a long finish. It seems to have inched into its window of full drinking maturity, and will stay there for 10-15+ years." (06/10) 91 points Wine Spectator: "... Read More »

2000 Rauzan-Segla, Margaux 12-pack in OWC

95 points Wine Spectator: "Tight and muscular, with a solid core of fruit and racy tannins. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins, yet silky and refined. This is very, very toned and serious. A wine for long-term aging. Best after 2010. (JS)" (1/2003) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "At first taste, this wine seems more new world than Bordeaux. Ful ...Read More »

2000 Canon-La-Gaffelière, St-Emilion (1.5L) 3-pack in OWC

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Performing as I expected, but still several years away from full maturity, this extraordinarily flamboyant, full-bodied, opulent, sexy St. Emilion stood out for its backward structure and youthful personality. A dark plum/garnet hue is followed by a superb bouquet of roasted coffee, kirsch, blackberries, licorice, herbs, and forest floor. Full-bodied, dense, rich, and pure, it is a total hedonistic as well as intellectual turn-on. Enjoy it over the next decade. (RP)" (6/2010) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Moderately saturated ruby-red. Knockout superripe nose combines red- and blackcur ...Read More »

2000 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L) 3-pack in OWC

96 points James Suckling: "I love the nose of cedar and fruit, with hints of sweet tobacco and plums. Full and round, with pretty dense fruit and a long, silky finish. Complex and beautiful. You could drink it now, but I would still wait. This continues to evolve in the glass, showing notes of porcini. This could be the new 1982. Pull the cork after 2013." (10/2012) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is spectacular, and certainly a noteworthy rival to the 1996, 1995, and even the extraordinary 1982... The wine is full-bodied, with extraordinary purity and a tremendous t ...Read More »
