1991 Labégorce, Margaux (1.5L) Top Pick!
1991 Labégorce, Margaux (1.5L)

Purchased direct from the property and a personal favorite of K&L founder Clyde Beffa, Labegorce appeals to those with a preference for "old school" Bordeaux: structured, earthy, meaty and rustic, with dark fruits and classic Margaux minerality. Time in bottle brings out additional complexity, as the tannins soften as secondary and tertiary aromas and flavors of dried fruits, tobacco, wood and leather emerge. With 25+ years of age, this wine is mature and ready to drink tonight. Open and enjoy with food...steak, preferably!

2000 Labegorce, Margaux (1.5L)

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "If Margaux is the most delicate of the Médoc wines, then this is the epitome of Margaux. It is light, poised and attractively perfumed. The fruit is elegant and fresh with a fine streak of acidity. (RV)" (6/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Soft, ripe, and fruity, with big, smoky, charred berry-like scents intermixed with tobacco and plum aromas... (RP)" (4/2003) Wine Spectator: "Beautiful aromas of spices, berries and plums. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a clean finish. (JS)" (3/2003) K&L Notes: Very focused and quite mineral on the palate. Good fruit. It could stand decanting an hour or so. Direct from the... Read More »

2010 Malescasse, Haut-Médoc (1.5L)

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Located in the heart of the Haut-Médoc, close to Lamarque, Malescasse is capable of producing sweet-tasting, friendly wines, such as this 2010. It’s bright, fruity and layered with acidity, and the firm tannins show through slowly, offering power and density for the medium-term. (RV)" (2/2013) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Dense and chewy, with espresso and baker's chocolate notes shrouding the dark currant, fig and blackberry fruit at the core, followed by graphite and anise on the finish for now. Should unwind with cellaring. Best from 2014 through 2020. (JM)" (3/2013) Jancis Robinson: "Dark crimson. Ra ...Read More »

2012 Malartic-Lagravière, Pessac-Léognan (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This large estate of 131 acres has been run brilliantly by a Belgian family, the Bonnies since their acquisition a number of years ago. The quality of the white and red have soared to exceptional heights, and this is certainly still one of the more realistically priced wines of Pessac-Lèognan and classified crus. The 2012 is a beauty, with a dense ruby/purple color, a fabulously plush, opulent texture and medium to full-bodied flavors of cassis, spicy earth and blueberry. Quite rich, yet light on its feet, this is an absolutely textbook Pessac-Lèognan, w ...Read More »

2015 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

95-96 points James Suckling: "Wow. Real Cantemerle with stupendous power and depth. Mineral, stone and violet character. Full and structure. It starts slowly and then goes on for minutes. Perhaps best ever?" (4/2016) 92-94 points Wine Enthusiast: "With structured tannins and red berry notes, this is already showing an elegant structure. It is the fruit that sings here, gently supported by the fine, dusty tannins. (RV)" (4/2016) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Cantemerle is a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. 2012 La Fleur de Boüard, Lalande-de-Pomerol (1.5L)

Rich and intensely concentrated, this beauty should drink well for a decade or more. (RP)" (4/2013) 91 points James Suckling: "A very polished red with plum, wet earth, blackberry and spice character. Full body, soft, chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Drink in 2017." 2015 Tour St-Christophe, St-Emilion (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

95-96 points James Suckling: "Extremely firm and silky. Dark berry, violet, salt and mineral. Full body. Energy, vibrant and verve. Layered and compressed. Best ever here. 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc." (4/2016) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Tour Saint-Christophe, owned by Peter Kwok since 2012, is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc cropped at 33 hl/ha between 3-16 October and matured in 40% new oak. It has an intense nose, perhaps slightly on the alcoholic side due to the Merlot (14.8%). The palate is more controlled and refined. 2009 Siran, Margaux (1.5L)

93 points James Suckling: "Blueberries and minerals, with floral undertones follow through to a full body and velvety tannins and a juicy finish. Subtle and structured. Try after 2018." (2/2012) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the vertical held at the property, the 2009 Château Siran no longer displays the sur-maturité that was evident just after bottling and seems to have settled down with scents of black plum, spice, blackcurrants and graphite, the latter lending it an almost Brane-Cantenac like veneer. A much more refined style for Haut-Brission. First year without Reserve bottling. Best ever. From organically grown grapes." (4/2016) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Until the 2015 vintage, all the fruit from Château Haut Brisson came from down towards Château Teyssier; however, in 2013 Peter Kwok bought a parcel located on the limestone plateau in Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, which obviously will impact and hopefully improve the quality. 2015 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

97-99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Mouton-Rothschild is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc matured entirely in new oak, as usual. This represents a relatively high percentage of Merlot simply because, as winemaker Philippe Dhalluin told me, that quality was so good. I afforded my sample four to five minutes to open as it was a little reduced at first, but eventually it reveals a gorgeous, extraordinarily intense bouquet of blackberry, cassis, incense and cold slate aromas. (5/2012) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A strong effort from Château Canon, the 2005 offers a saturated ruby/purple color followed by beautiful floral notes intermixed with black raspberry, black cherry, and some crushed rock. The fruit is rich and ripe, dominated by a blackberry note and underpinned by tannins. This is a chateau to watch. (JS, Web-2007)" 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While not as backward as the 1996, the opaque purple-colored 1995 is a tannic, unevolved, dense, concentrated wine that will require 8-10 years of cellaring. (3/2016) 95-97 points Vinous: "The 2015 Malartic Lagravière is a total rock star. Deep, powerful and exotic, the 2015 sweeps across the palate with stunning richness and intensity. The creamy voluptuousness of the vintage is on full display. The blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc works beautifully here. (4/2016) 94-97 points Vinous: "A dramatic, ample Lafite, the 2015 is also arrestingly beautiful and vivid. Expressive floral notes give the dark red and black flavors gorgeous aromatic lift. It shows such great tannins and finesse. It is the essences of Pavie." (4/2016) 96-98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Pavie is a blend of 60% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon that is matured in 80% new oak and 20% one-year-old barrels. The final blend, 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc, was bottled unfined and unfiltered after 18 months in 100% new oak, with aging on the lees. Very closed nose hints at ripe red cherry, fresh orange peel, flowers, leather and cinnamon. Cherry-vanilla, cassis and cedar flavors are somewhat chunky and sweet, and are lifted by an intense mineral note. It is an exquisite example of Pichon-Lalande with the Merlot component giving the wine a coffee/chocolatey/cherry component to go along with the Cabernet Sauvignon's and Cabernet Franc's complex blackberry/cassis fruit. 98-100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Haut Brion, a blend of 50% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, was picked between 8 September and 5 October, and is matured in the same level of new oak (78%) and IPT (75) as the La Mission. It has a heavenly bouquet that like the La Mission bestows instant gratification - a veritable kaleidoscope of aromas so crystalline that you can pick them out one by one: dark plum, blackcurrant, Kalamata olive and graphite. It is tempting to just nose this all day. The palate has an indescribably stunning balance and like the La Mission, ...Read More »

2014 Tour St-Christophe, St. Emilion (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

94 points James Suckling: "Fantastic aromas of blackberries, flowers, chalk and blueberries. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Intense and structured." (2/2017) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Tour Saint Christophe 2014 has a very pure bouquet. There is some new oak to be subsumed, but there is plenty of fruit to support it. The palate is ripe and sensual on the entry with supple tannin, plush black cherry and blackberry fruit with a generous, modern-style opening with commendable length. This could turn out to be one of Saint Emilion's classier offerings in 2014. (NM) ...Read More »

2014 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Vinous: "I was deeply impressed with these wines from Domaine de Chevalier. The red has a slight upper hand in 2014, but both wines are distinctive and full of character. Olivier Bernard owns one of the crown jewels of Bordeaux, as these wines clearly make evident. The 2014 Domaine de Chevalier is a total knockout. Precise, brilliant and finely sculpted, the 2014 possesses superb intensity. Freshly cut flowers, mint and sweet red berries, along with finessed but persistent tannins, give the wine its regal personality. The 2014 needs a number of years to shed some ...Read More »

2015 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

95-96 points James Suckling: "Very classic styled Lynch with pretty ripe fruit and tannin balanced. Full body, firm and chewy tannins yet polished and refined. Alcohol and fruit balance are lower than other top years and give this wine freshness and energy." (4/2016) 94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. This wine is sumptuous, ripe and generously fruity. It has a black core of dry plum skin and spice. The richness is topped by acidity, forming a contrast with the tannic core." (4/2016) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "They 2015 Lynch Bages is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot that was picked ...Read More »

2014 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

97 points James Suckling: "Beautifully perfumed with rose petals, violets and currant bush. Full body, very silky tannins and bright acidity. Tannins are super fine-grained. Goes on for minutes. Racy and refined. Persistent. Drink in 2025." (2/2017) 97 points Vinous: "One of the stars of the vintage, the 2014 Haut-Brion is an exceptionally beautiful and vivid wine. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, tobacco and menthol are some of the notes that run through the 2014. Just as it did from barrel, the 2014 boasts tons of opulence, intensity and richness. Dried flowers, tobacco, menthol, licorice and smoke wra ...Read More »

2004 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (1.5L)

91 points Wine & Spirits: "This has the plump richness typical of Gruaud, its potent extract fragrant with blueberry and tobacco in a standoff between the green and the black. The tannins are hidden behind all that fruit, not at all obvious, softened to chocolate scents." (10/2007) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Expressive nose offers game, spice, tobacco, leather, underbrush, iron and exotic flowers. Supple and fine-grained, with currant and baked plum flavors complicated by chocolate and leather. A wine of moderate intensity and power for this property but rather suave. The cooler vintage character co ...Read More »

2006 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (1.5L)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Year after year, Lynch-Bages is able to produce sumptuous wines, typically rich, powerful and structured. This is solid, the blackberry ripe fruit enveloping this structure with a velvet sheen. This is developing into one of the successes of the vintage. (RV)" (3/2009) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Château Lynch Bages has another quite vivacious bouquet with lively black cherries, kirsch and wild mint aromas that do not hold back. I love the purity here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine supple tannin, well-judged acidity, a gentle grip in the mouth, and plenty of lightly ...Read More »

2015 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Leoville Barton is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot picked between 19-22 September and 28 September until 5 October for the Merlot and Cabernet respectively. Matured in 60% new oak, it has a more compelling and intense bouquet than the 2015 Langoa Barton at this early stage, whereas in other years I have found the siblings closer together. It delivers some lovely blackberry, sage and cigar box scents. The palate is very refined with edgy tannin, beautifully balanced with seamlessly integrated oak. It is the classic Léoville-Barto ...Read More »

2014 Lanessan, Haut-Médoc (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

91 points Vinous: "The 2014 Lanessan is gorgeous. Wild cherry, herb and tobacco give the wine its distinctive savory aromatic profile, while firm tannins add energy. The result is a touch rustic, but it is also immensely pleasing. There is lovely depth in the glass, although the 2014 appears to have shut down a bit post-bottling. (AG)" (2/2017) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Lanessan 2014 has an unusually high-toned bouquet with blackberry and iodine aromas, Margaux-like in style, with a pinch of cedar and black pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a little pinched at the mo ...Read More »

2014 Alter Ego de Palmer, Margaux (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

93 points James Suckling: "Aromas of spices and earth with mushrooms. Dark fruit. Full-bodied, dense and rich with earth and spices. A beauty. Soft and juicy. Savory yet exotic. From biodynamically grown grapes. First year. Drink or hold." (2/2017) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This second wine of Château Palmer is dense and structured. With ripe swathes of black fruits and juicy Merlot showing strongly, it already displays the potential of the vintage. Generous and ripe, the wine has a fine level of perfumed tannin. Drink from 2023. (RV)" (4/2017) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Alter Ego de Palmer 2014 is a blend of 52% Merlot, 35% Caberne ...Read More »
