1989 Suduiraut, Sauternes (375ml)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Exotically perfumed violet and rose petals burst on your palate, accompanied by dried apricot, lemon and honey flavors. Gorgeous and subtle, glowing on the finish." (4/1995) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from the Château reserves at the estate. The ’89 is a little lighter in hue compared to the Suduiraut ’90. The nose offers caramelized pear, frangipane, yellow flowers and a touch of quince, moderate vigour at first, but opening nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of bitter orange rind on the entry, marmalade, quince and a mandarin and dried apricot o ...Read More »

2005 Guiraud, Sauternes (375ml)

97 points James Suckling: "This appears to be the synthesis of the fabulous 2001 and 2003. It shows wonderful aromas of botrytis spice, honey and citrus rind. Lots of fruit with a tropical fruit undertone of mango and papaya on the palate. Intense finish." (7/2013) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Delivers lots of botrytis spice, with lemon tart and cooked apple. Full-bodied, with loads of cream and vanilla and an intense tropical fruit and honey aftertaste. 91-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "(No tasting note given)" (4/2008) 93 points Wine Spectator: "This is pure and precise, showing rich apricot, peach and clementine flavors, but great cut too, with a mouthwatering edge that lets chamomile, green plum and honeysuckle notes dance through the finish. Gorgeous. (JM, Web-2011)" 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow-gold. Superripe but precise aromas of mirabelle, white nectarine and honey. Supersweet, deep and powerful, with a fat, honeyed character and terrific spicy persistence. A big boy but with lovely balance. (ST)" (7/2008)

(4/2016) 97 points Decanter: "Taking things to another dimension, this has power, spice, and a saffron-edged sexiness. Quince, roasted white peaches and bitter oranges are coupled with a biting seam of white pepper. There's such density here, and a soft, silky texture with a kick. 2015 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

99-100 points James Suckling: "This is an incredible young Yquem that is so vinous like a great vintage of Montrachet but then on the palate it turns to Yquem with spice, dried fruit and mushroom as well as sweet fruit. Last for minutes. Acidity is all there giving it a dynamic vibrance that jolts your senses. Special wine. It has a little more than than 140 grams of residual sugar, less than the legendary of 2001. But is very close in greatness. Let’s wait and see." Just when you think that's all there is, toasted coconut, fig, orange blossom and persimmon details kick in, lending length and dimension. The finish is ridiculously long. Best from 2020 through 2060. (JM)" (3/2014) 98 points James Suckling: "Crazy minerality to this, with lots of dried mango, pineapple and papaya on the nose. Botrytis-spice and nutmeg undertones. (RV)" (4/2017) 95-96 points James Suckling: "This has so much botrytis/spice character. Dried-mushroom powder as well. Full yet round and gorgeous. Exuberant softness. Very sweet and complex. Long, with a vanilla-coconut tart finish. What a wine, voluptuous, sexy, and luscious. 147 grams of RS." (4/2012) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Squarely on the tropical side of the spectrum, with mango, papaya and pineapple fruit laced with a marmalade note. (JA)" (3/2018) 96-98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Climens was tasted from different lots (after naughty Bérénice Lurton had successfully duped me with her April Fool's joke by saying that she had done a final blend). Full-bodied, with great density and power, yet balanced and refined. So amazing, but give this five to six years still. Pull the cork in 2016. 145 grams RS." (5/2012) 100 points Wine Spectator: "Like lemon curd on the nose, turning to honey and caramel. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, fine tension, great detail on the finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is a superb La Tour Blanche with style and elegance. (NM)" (4/2017) 94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. Structured and concentrated, this is a rich wine that is also fruity and packed with botrytis and acidity. (Web Only-2012)" 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Served from an ex-chateau bottle. The 2005 Chateau d’Yquem is similar to the 2006 in that it deserves aeration. The palate is extremely well balanced and very pure: citrus fruit infusing the honeyed botrytis, veins of white peach and quince, leading to a very precise and sustained finish that leaves you with a smile on your face...and the wine ain't even finished yet! Charles Chevalier, how lest we forget started here and not chez Lafite, told me that the beginning of September had overripe grapes with passerillage – the second part had very good levels of botrytis. Lots of clove and orange peel. Same quality as the 2001. Best after 2013." (3/2008) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "Scents of blood orange hint at the acidity that drives this wine; it moderates the proportions of the broad, rich flavor and finishes clean. The scent of pure, fresh honey lasts. For the cellar." (10/2008) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, pale yellow-gold. Peach and vanillin oak dominate the nose. Bid on this half-bottle of 1999 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml) (93JG). John Gilman: "I was very surprised to like the 1999 Yquem a bit better than I liked the 2001, as the vintage in general seems to be decidedly stronger in Sauternes in 2001. The 1999 Yquem offers up a complex and classic nose of toasted coconut, oranges, honey, butter, lovely soil tones, fresh apricot and a lovely framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and quite crisp, with lovely focus and balance, excellent mid-palate depth and a very long, bright and poised finish. A lovely bottle of Yquem. (4/2016) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Guiraud, tasted in two occasions, has a sumptuous bouquet with scents of wild honey, apricot and a faint smear of marmalade. The palate is fresh and tensile on the entry, brimming with energy with impressive energy towards the blood orange and quince-tinged finish. This is a stylish, suave Guiraud that should age beautifully in bottle. (NM)" (6/2016) 94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is packed ...Read More »

2004 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (375ml)
Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2004 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (375ml) (93RP). 93 points Robert Parker: "An undeniable star of the vintage, Pichon-Baron’s 2004 boasts an inky/ruby/purple color to the rim as well as a big, sweet nose of melted licorice, chocolate, black currant jam, truffles, and charcoal embers. Soft tannin, full body, and abundant opulence and flesh are atypical for the vintage character, but this wine is loaded. Pure, ripe, and evolved, it should be at its finest between 2009-2022." Bid on this half-bottle of 2004 Margaux, Margaux (375ml) (96W&S, 96WE, 94RP, 94ST, 94VN, 94WS, 93JD). Wine Enthusiast: "If one of 2004’s enduring characteristics is its freshness, then Margaux epitomizes this. It is so deliciously fresh and floating, with great black currant and blueberry fruits, pointed up by spice, mint and a sense of elegance and poise. There’s no doubt about its aging potential either: just feel that heart of firm tannins. (RV)" (06/2007)

2001 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (375ml)
Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2001 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (375ml) (95WE, 93RP, 92ST, 92WS). 95 points and a 'Cellar Selection' from Wine Enthusiast: "The high proportion of Merlot in Pichon Lalande is a good reason why this wine, among the great wines of Pauillac, is always so seductive. This is no exception; it charms as well as excites with vibrant fruits as well as serious, dense tannins and acidity that promise good aging. Give it 7-9 years for full maturity to begin." (11/07) 93 points Robert Parker: "A distinctive bouquet of violets, soy, pepper, blackberries, cassis, and tree bark gives this 2001 a singular style. This dense ruby/purple-colored blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and a whopping 14% Petit Verdot exhibits plenty of structure, wonderful sweetness, a closed style, but a rich, textured, persistent character. The unusually large percentage of Petit Verdot gives the wine more structure and less initial charm. This beauty needs some time in the cellar. An

Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2004 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (375ml) (96W&S, 96WE, 95WS). Wine Enthusiast: "Of the pair of châteaux, La Mission Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion (both owned by the Dillon banking family) that face each other across the crowded streets of Pessac, Haut-Brion is the one with the structure, the darkness, the brooding character. This is so true of 2004, with its hugely firm structure underlying the initial supple fruit. At the end, the acidity is an enticing surprise, lifting the aftertaste. (RV)" (06/2007)

95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is dense, mingling spicy nutmeg along with superb ripe honey and marmalade flavors. With its balanced acidity and opulence, it is going to be a great wine. (RV)" (4/2017) 94-95 points James Suckling: "Oily and dense with lots of sliced-cooked-pineapple, honey and light spice character. Full body and a long and spicy finish. 2015 Clos Haut-Peyraguey, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

93-94 points James Suckling: "A lively and bright Sauternes with dried peach and apple aromas and flavors. Full body, medium sweet with botrytis spice and character at the finish." (4/2016) 94 points Vinous: "The 2015 Clos Haut-Peyraguey is much more delicate in bottle than it was from barrel. Floral and lifted, with pretty mango, pineapple, apricot and yellow flower nuances, the 2015 is absolutely striking in its beauty. Above all else, what I admire about the Clos Haut-Peyraguey is the expression of richness with no excess weight. This beautifully layered, polished Sauternes is a winner from Bernard Ma ...Read More »

2016 Rieussec, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

98-99 points James Suckling: "Lots of botrytis here in addition to dried mushrooms and dried fruit such as pineapple and peaches. Medium to full body. Medium sweet. Very long and intense. A triumph." (4/2017) 95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Made by the Lafite-Rothschild team, this is a powerfully dense wine. It has intense botrytis and fine acidity, as well as sumptuous ripe marmalade and apricot flavors. This is certainly for long-term aging. (RV)" (4/2017) 93-96 points Vinous: "The 2016 Rieussec is gorgeous. Despite the relatively low acidity of the vintage, it preserves a good deal of aromatic freshness, with plenty of lemon confit, pass ...Read More »

2003 Coutet, Sauternes (375ml)

95 points Wine Spectator: "Honey, apple tart and lemon rind. Full-bodied, medium-sweet and very spicy with intense flavors of mace, apple and honey. Long finish. Thick and powerful. (JS)" (3/2006) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow-gold. Sexy aromas of orange liqueur and spices. Sweet, round and pure, with a lush texture verging on unctuous. And yet this is wonderfully aromatic and light on its feet. Very ripe and very complex in the mouth, with harmonious acids framing the flavors of orange oil, peach and spicy oak. Finishes very long, ripe and seamless, with lingering notes of oaky vanilla and spice. ...Read More »

2003 Climens, Barsac (375ml)

96 points Wine Spectator: "Loads of honey, maple syrup, dried apricot and spice. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with a refined, spicy character. Pretty wine. Masses of botrytis. This is refined and long, a racy wine compared with the power and muscle of so many others. Beauty among the beasts. Best after 2012." (3/2006) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium yellow. Reticent, spicy nose opens slowly to reveal apricot, orange and caramel. Fat, silky and sweet, with the sheer concentration to support its substantial alcohol. Quite unctuous for Climens, with an almost confectionery quality to the fruit. Comes across as l ...Read More »

2015 Clerc-Milon, Pauillac (375ml)

95 points James Suckling: "Extremely floral with blackberry and blueberry character plus hints of violets. Full-bodied yet always in check and reserve with fine tannins and bright acidity that goes on for minutes. Limestone undertones. The finish is particularly long this vintage. Super Clerc. Try in 2021." (2/2018) 94 points Decanter: "The colour is rich and deep, and the entire experience elevated by a juicy, mouthwatering structure. Some austerity is evident in the tannins but there is a completeness and balance that works extremely well. More clay in the soils at Clerc than in the rest of the Mouton ...Read More »

2016 Guiraud, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. This wine is hugely rich while having wonderful acidity at its end. Dense botrytis and a powerful structure go along with the honey and marmalade flavors. It will certainly age well and long. (RV)" (4/2017) 94-95 points James Suckling: "A full-bodied young Sauternes with lots of rich sliced cooked apples and pears. All the same, this remains spicy and energetic with an abundance of dried mushrooms, walnuts and almonds on the finish. Botrytis character comes through nicely already here." 2016 Climens, Barsac (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Climens was tasted from the 12 different lots that will go into the Grand Vin, with some selected from the Deuxième Vin, Cyprès de Climens. As usual, I had to assemble them in my mind and relate commonalities, though at a négoçiant a week later I re-tasted four preprepared micro-blends. I found much elegance this year. It is not a powerful Climens in the making and even with the higher alcohol lots that reached 14.9%, you could not feel any warmth and the wines maintained the tension. Some lots displayed saline finishes, perhaps a little more th ...Read More »
