2012 Cap de Merle, Lussac-St-Emilion (375ml)

From the importer: "Chateau Cap de Merle is a delicious St-Emilion that represents excellent value. The owners and winemakers — brothers Alain and Jean-Marie Bel — use no wood in vinifying Cap de Merle so its pure, rich and savory Merlot fruit comes through directly upon tasting. The winery’s excellent plateau vineyard on sandstone soil assures optimal ripeness of fruit and supple tannins...2012 is a superb vintage at Cap de Merle. It saw the continuation of the advances in the Bel’s winemaking, aimed at making Cap de Merle even more deeply colored, fres... Read More »

2014 Rieussec, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

97-98 points James Suckling: "This has a phenomenal finish. It’s dense yet agile with dried tropical fruits and spices. Honey, too. Yet so intense and powerful. It really lasts for minutes. Medium sweet yet so fruity and energetic. This shows how you can have ripeness with fruit and then lots of botrytis. Exciting wine." (3/2015) 95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Rieussec 2014 is a blend of 93% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle, picked from 15 to 29 October through seven tries, the yield half the normal crop at 13 hectoliters per hectare. 2015 Coutet, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. The wine is ripe yet stylish and pure. It has a great balance between bright acidity and rich fruitiness. It is a very fine wine with great aging potential, as it hints at the more opulent future to come." (4/2016) 94-97 points Wine Spectator: "Vibrant, with a singed almond frame sprinting along, this offers nectarine, white peach and star fruit notes. Mirabelle plum and pineapple details echo through the finish. Very long, boasting terrific range." 2005 Coutet, Sauternes (375ml)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Surprisingly dry, this has richness rather than sweetness, and intense, powerful botrytis. The honey is intensely perfumed, along with baked apples and spice. Certainly a long-aging wine. (RV)" (6/2008) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Château Coutet has a slightly muffled bouquet at the moment: honeysuckle, dried quince and a dab of kerosene in the background. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with plenty of botrytized fruit, tensile and linear in the mouth with fine mineralité, though missing the sheer ambition and ...Read More »

2014 Guiraud, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

94-97 points Wine Spectator: "A juicy, engaging core of apricot, nectarine and green fig is backed by ginger and spiced apple accents. Orange zest notes enliven the finish even more. Shows solid length, power and precision." (3/2015) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Guiraud 2014 has a perfumed bouquet with clear honey, beeswax and honeysuckle aromas that are well defined. The palate is fresh and taut on the entry: good tension and focus here, very harmonious with a gently build in the mouth towards a satisfying marmalade and quince-driven finish. Shows terrific range and definition. Feels like it's just starting to open, and is in no rush. Drink now through 2035. 2007 La Tour Blanche, Sauternes (375ml)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Light gold color, but a wine with depth and balance. There is lovely acidity here, a wine that offers fresh fruits, apricot juice and deep layers of botrytis." (6/2010) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted single blind against its peers. I have always felt that I was mean to the La Tour Blanche when I first tasted it out of barrel, principally because of the excessive level of residual sugar. There is just a touch of reduction on the nose but it opens up nicely. The palate is very classy: a hell of a lot of fruit concentration and layer upon layer of botrytized fruit. Thick, sweet and chewy with extract; an impressively mouthfilling wine with lovely framing acidity. Characteristically big and peachy. Finishes spicy, shapely and very long. The class of the tasting." (8/2002) Jancis Robinson: "Absolutely phenomenal nose - nectarine, loads of spice and honey and lemon curd. 2014 Climens, Barsac (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Climens was tasted from several lots that Bérénice Lurton and her team are preparing to blend together during its barrel maturation. Having conducted this practice over many years, I would point out that whereas in some years one has to conjecture to the full, in 2014 the lots were both smaller in number, less heterogeneous and paradoxically, more "complete". This made it easier to envisage the final wine. Here, you had to focus on the second trie where 80% of the crop was picked with widespread onset of botrytis. There are fleeting senses of ...Read More »

(4/2016) 93-96 points Wine Spectator: "A plumper, richer style than most Barsacs, with almond cream, ginger and hazelnut accents starting to develop alongside the orange, apricot and peach flavors. Offers a lovely feel. (JM)" (4/2016) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Doisy-Vedrines has quite an intense nose, perhaps less fat and honeyed than recent vintages, more finesse if not quite capturing the same level of details as the Doisy-Daëne this year. (2/2014) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Classic Sauternes, treading the fine line between sweetness and elegance. 1989 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The favorite sweet wine of millionaires, Chateau d'Yquem has, not unexpectedly, turned in a brilliant effort with their newly released 1989. It is a large-scaled, massively rich, unctuously-textured wine that should evolve effortlessly for a half century or more. It does not reveal the compelling finesse and complexity of the 1988 or 1986, but it is a far heavier, richer wine than either of those vintages. Gorgeous, and built for the long haul. Best from 2018 through 2038." (1/2016) 93-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. This rich wine is still developing its spice, ginger and complex fruits. 2004 Pavie, St-Emilion (375ml)

In the case of the 2004, it carries the oak beautifully, untamed by it. The wine is wild, in fact, and quite hard to resist. The cool complexity of the tannins grows out of three terroirs: the limestone plateau, a sector of gravel and limestone and a third sector of clay. The fruit opens with thick-skinned black plum power, reverberating with feral scents and violets. Staunch and formidable, the w ...Read More »

Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 1986 Margaux, Margaux (375ml) (98RP, 98VN, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " A magnificent example of Chateau Margaux and one of the most tannic, backward Margauxs of the last 50 years, the 1986 continues to evolve at a glacial pace. The color is still a dense ruby/purple with just a hint of lightening at the rim. With several hours of aeration, the aromatics become striking, with notes of smoke, toast, creme de cassis, mineral, and white flowers. Very full-bodied, with high but sweet tannin, great purity, and a very masculine, full-bodied style, this wine should prove nearly immortal in terms of its aging potential. 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1976 Yquem continues to go from strength to strength. Who can ignore the awesome bouquet of spices, honeyed fruit, pineapples, bananas, coconuts, and overripe melons? This full-bodied, viscous, luscious wine has been absolutely delicious since bottling, given its relatively low acidity and precocious personality. It is one of the few true great vintages of Yquem that can actually be drunk with tremendous pleasure at such a young age. Eighty percent of the harvest made it into the final wine. Anticipated maturity: Now-2025. (RP)" (1/1998) 96 points Wine Spectator: "This is silky ...Read More »

2015 La Tour Blanche, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival) New!
2015 La Tour Blanche, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

93-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. This wine is just beginning to show its possibilities. It has a dry botrytis character along with lemon and other citrus fruits. They are packed in a sweet dried-apricot and lemon-jelly flavored texture. The wine will age impressively." (4/2016) 93-94 points James Suckling: "Shows energy and intensity with dried apple, pineapple character. Medium to full body, very sweet and a spicy, botrytis aftertaste. Excellent." (4/2016) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 La Tour Blanche has a noticeably deeper color than the other barrel samples that I tasted. The bouquet is quite intense, although I feel that ...Read More »

1959 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (375ml)
Bid on this half-bottle of 1959 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (375ml) (99RP, 98WS, 97ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1959 is unquestionably the greatest Lafite-Rothschild that has approached full maturity. It remains to be seen whether vintages such as 1982, 1986, and 1990 will reach a similar height. The super-aromatic bouquet of flowers, black truffles, cedar, lead pencil, and red fruits is followed by one of the most powerful and concentrated Lafites I have tasted. Medium to full-bodied, velvety-textured, rich, and pure, it is a testament to what this great estate can achieve when it hits the mark. This youthful wine will last for another 30 or more years." 2010 La Tour Blanche, Sauternes (375ml)

91-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, pale yellow-gold. Exotic aromas of apricot, kiwi and minerals, complicated by smoky botrytis. Very clean and focused in the mouth, with pure, penetrating orange marmalade and ripe citrus flavors lifted by minerals and saffron. Refined and elegant in its mouth feel and very long on the aftertaste. Extremely well done. (ID)" (8/2011) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Lush and captivating, showing layers of pineapple, peach, passion fruit and mango entwined with one another and carried by a bright green almond note through the finish. Not shy on depth, but offers a decidedly prettier ...Read More »

2003 Montrose, St-Estèphe (375ml)
Bid on this 375 ml 3-bottle lot of 2003 Montrose, St-Estèphe (375ml) (99RP, 97JS, 96ST, 95WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The blend in 2003 was 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot (a very high percentage), 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine, unlike most 2003s, has a freshness and liveliness provided by their extraordinary terroir. This wine can be drunk now. It has a dense bluish/purple color to the rim and an extraordinary nose of blueberries and mulberries, with blacker cassis and blackberry entering the picture. Scorched earth, spice and licorice are all present in this magnificent, full-bodied, opulent wine that is very Montrose, very classic and somewhat atypical of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2040. (RP)" (08/2014)

2010 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (375ml) New!
2010 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (375ml)

96 points James Suckling: "Dark fruits such as raspberries and blueberries with subtle perfume on the nose. Full body, with super well-integrated tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Racy young wine. Shows classy structure and richness. Try in 2018." (11/2013) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is one of my all-time favorite wines from Domaine de Chevalier, a silky, rather classic Pessac-Leognan with notes of scorched earth, tobacco leaf and black and red currants, but no hard edges. Fragrant, complex aromatics are followed by a savory, expansively flavored wine made from a final blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon ...Read More »
