2004 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion Top Pick!
2004 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion

91 points Wine Spectator: "A gorgeous nose of ripe raspberry, with hints of vanilla and blackberry. Intense yet subtle. Full-bodied, with lots of fruit, yet refined and layered with silky tannins. Long and caressing. Gets better and better. I like it more than the 2003 or the 2000. (JS)" (3/2007) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A dark ruby/purple hue is accompanied by sweet aromas of black cherries, crushed rocks, flowers, and subtle oak, moderate tannin, excellent ripeness, and a long finish. 2014 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion Top Pick!
2014 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion

94 points James Suckling: "Very aromatic and chalky on the nose with blackberries and blackcurrants. Licorice, too. Full to medium body, savory and chewy tannins, yet this always remains polished with a long and pretty finish. Drink in 2020, but hard not to drink now." (2/2017) 94 points Vinous: "The 2014 Barde-Haut has turned out beautifully. Dark cherry, mocha, spice, leather and tobacco flesh out in the glass. Effortless, supple and nicely layered, the 2014 hits all the right notes. The midweight style of the year comes through very nicely in this classy, polished Saint-Émilion. 2012 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion Top Pick!
2012 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion

92 points James Suckling: "A dense and polished red for the vintage with dried strawberry, raspberry and chocolate character. Full body, firm tannins and a pretty finish. Needs two or three years to soften slightly but already impressive." (1/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barde-Haut is dark, fleshy and voluptuous, with notable depth and resonance from the Merlot. Mocha, bittersweet chocolate, plums and spices all add nuance, but above all else, the 2012 is a wine of spherical texture and intensity. Give it a few years to fully unwind. 2007 Côte de Baleau, St-Emilion

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A tasty effort from the Reiffers family, this 2007 (70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits dusty, earthy notes, a lush, medium-bodied style, and abundant black cherry fruit, herb, and spice characteristics. (RV)" (4/2017) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Beau-Sejour-Becot is a blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon cropped at 40 hectoliters per hectare, picked between 3-20 October. 2009 Moulin du Cadet, St-Emilion

92 points James Suckling: "A wine with very attractive berry and spice character and plums with citrus fruit. Full and silky with a lively finish. Better in 2018." (3/2012) Wine Spectator: "Quite fleshy and direct, with upfront oomph to the raspberry and blackberry fruit flavors, pushed by dense, but creamy, structure. Best from 2013 through 2019. (JM, Web-2012)" K&L Notes: According to Robert Parker: "Moulin du Cadet is a micro-climat of 12 acres located on the plateau north of St-Emilion. 2016 Tour St-Christophe, St-Emilion (Pre-Arrival)

96-97 points James Suckling: "This is superb: a triumph for the vintage considering how complicated it was in St.-Emilion. Elegance with power. Full-bodied, intense and forthright. Wonderful length and depth. Better than the 2015." (4/2016) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Tour Saint-Christophe, the Saint Emilion estate of Peter Kwok whose eye-catching terraced vineyard looks upon Barde-Haut from the other side of the valley, is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc picked between 5-23 October and matured in 40% new oak. Yet the fruit and acidity balance this muscular wine. Try in 2018." (2/2013) 93 points Wine Spectator: "There's a nice charcoal note driving this from the start, while the dark plum, blackberry and black currant fruit waits in reserve. Ganache, licorice snap and tobacco fill in the finish and give this added range, while a singed alder wood note runs underneath for added texture and length. Impressive. Best from 2015 through 2030. (2/2017) 96 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pavie Macquin is just as sensual from bottle as it was from barrel. Silky, gracious and expressive, the 2014 has it all. Impressively built, with good acidity and light tannin, this is a superb example of wine that reaches its prime in 3 or 4 years and lasts two decades. It's right up there with their brilliant 2005." 2014 Le Murmure de Larcis-Ducasse, St-Emilion

91 points Vinous: "A gorgeous second wine, the 2014 Murmure de Larcis Ducasse is soft, precise and elegant. All of the sensuality that makes Larcis so compelling in 2014 comes through, but with a bit more brightness in the red-toned flavors and, naturally, less depth. I tasted the 2014 after a vertical of Larcis that went all the way back to 1945. There is no question that today's second wine is higher in quality than some of the Grands Vins of decades past. (2/2017) Wine Spectator: "This is fun, with a slightly exotic edge to the fig and boysenberry confiture notes, along with licorice snap and Christmas pudding hints. It is rich, full-bodied, moderately tannic, but low in acidity and quite heady and powerful (15% natural alcohol). Full-bodied, with beautiful integration of acidity, alcohol and tannin, this is a robust, exuberant, somewhat flamboyant style of St.-Emilion that is clearly modern, but quite frankly, delicious. The tannins are sufficiently integrated to make it drinkable now with hearty food, but it's tough enough to need until 1996 to 2000 to settle down." (3/1991) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1988 Pavie-Decesse has fine concentration, good length, an enticing bouquet of earthy, mineral, and exotic fruit, but tremendous tannin in the finish. One can still discern those brown spices infiltrating the ripe red and black fruit. There is fine mineralité here, great focus, perhaps just a hint of dried blood that develops with time. (2/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2012 La Gaffeliere comes across as quite compact today, although the underlying material appears promising. The 20% Cabernet Franc is evident, especially in the wines tannic profile. Silky tannins add to the wine's exceptional feel and precision. The blend is 80 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc. One of the more interesting wines to taste in bottle, because the final blend was only selected in March 2017. Expect seductive, well fleshed out fruit. Contemporary in style and extremely enjoyable. 2016 Figeac, St-Émilion (Pre-Arrival)

98-100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Figeac is a blend of 36% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc and 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, picked from 23 September until 20 October at 49 hectoliters per hectare with 13.9% alcohol. The acidity is 3.67 pH, and it matured in 100% new oak (focused on five cooperages). This is a property that opened a new chapter in 2013, when Michel Rolland's services as a master blender have been called upon and engendered far greater harmony between the three grape varieties, now all singing from the same hymn sheet. It has a crisp blackberry nose, a little closed at firs ...Read More »

1999 La Gaffeliere, St-Emilion

Jancis Robinson: "Lively, toasty, zesty claret not too far from drinkability. Quite confident and punchy. 17/20 Points (JR)" (8/2007) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 is an elegant, finesse-styled, medium-bodied effort revealing lovely strawberry and currant fruit with a hint of sour cherries, a judicious touch of oak, medium body, and excellent purity. It creeps up on the taster in subtle increments. I always laugh when critics of Michel Rolland, the great international oenologist who has done so much to improve wine quality throughout the world, say that his wines all taste the same. Do these ig ...Read More »

1989 l'Arrosée, St-Emilion Top Pick!
1989 l'Arrosée, St-Emilion

93 points Wine Spectator: "Rich, smooth, deep and complex, with layers of plum, currant, spice and vanilla flavors all woven together with a measure of subtlety and finesse. Firmly tannic and oaky, too, but comes across as soft and fleshy. *Highly Recommended*" (4/1992) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 exhibits a dark ruby color, with slight lightening at the edge, as well as plenty of earthy, black-cherry fruit nicely touched by sweet, toasty oak. It exhibited more richness, glycerin, intensity, and precision than it has in previous tastings. It can be drunk now as well as over the next decade. (RP) ...Read More »

2016 Bellevue, St-Emilion (Pre-Arrival)

97-98 points James Suckling: "This is very exciting this year with a profound depth and power of fruit in addition to mineral undertones. Full and intense. Great finish. Better than the 2015?" (4/2017) 93-96 points Vinous: "* 2016 Bordeaux Top Values* The 2016 Bellevue is simply extraordinary. The aromatics alone are captivating, but it is the wine's balance and poise that are most impressive. Graphite, gravel, smoke, licorice, crème de cassis and blueberry jam all flesh out on the palate as this deep, dense Saint-Emilion shows off its personality. Hints of blood orange and citrus add a touch of freshness. ...Read More »

2009 Clos Fourtet, St-Emilion

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "After tasting it three times from bottle, I am convinced this prodigious wine is one of the greatest young Bordeaux I have ever tasted. Inky blue/purple with notes of camphor, forest floor, blackberry, cassis, sweet cherries, licorice, the wine has stunning aromatics, unctuous texture and an almost inky concentration, but without any hard edges. With considerable tannin and just enough acidity to provide definition, this wine transcends even its premier grand cru classe terroir. It is certainly the finest Clos Fourtet ever produced. Give it 5-7 years of ...Read More »

2016 Canon, St-Émilion (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

97-99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Canon makes it a double slam-dunk for head winemaker Nicolas Audebert and his team, as it is the second of two ethereal wines that will put the estate right at the top of the Saint Emilion tree. This year is a blend of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc picked from 22 September until 10 October at 45 hectoliters per hectare. It delivers 14.02% alcohol and an IPT of 65. Matured in 65% new oak, it has a compelling bouquet with intense black cherry and blueberry fruit, a tincture of oyster shell, all with exquisite definition. The palate is medium-b ...Read More »
