91 points Wine Spectator: "A gorgeous nose of ripe raspberry, with hints of vanilla and blackberry. Intense yet subtle. Full-bodied, with lots of fruit, yet refined and layered with silky tannins. Long and caressing. Gets better and better. I like it more than the 2003 or the 2000. (JS)" (3/2007) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A dark ruby/purple hue is accompanied by sweet aromas of black cherries, crushed rocks, flowers, and subtle oak, moderate tannin, excellent ripeness, and a long finish. 2010 Bellefont-Belcier, St-Emilion

93 points James Suckling: "Wonderful aromas of black truffles and berries with hints of wet earth. Full body, with velvety tannins and a rich and chewy finish. Yet the fruit and acidity balance this muscular wine. Try in 2018." (2/2013) 93 points Wine Spectator: "There's a nice charcoal note driving this from the start, while the dark plum, blackberry and black currant fruit waits in reserve. Ganache, licorice snap and tobacco fill in the finish and give this added range, while a singed alder wood note runs underneath for added texture and length. Impressive. Best from 2015 through 2030. 2014 Dassault, St-Emilion (Previously $32)

92 points James Suckling: "Dark fruits and dark tannins are the hallmark of this brooding beast. Either you like rather bold, dry tannins and this will excite you, or it won’t! But I love it." (2/2017) 92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Dassault is bold, fruit-driven and absolutely delicious, although the firm tannins are going to need some time to soften. Plum, violet, licorice and lavender are some of the signatures in this inky, extroverted Saint-Émilion. In 2014, Dassault is a sleeper. Tasted two times. 2015 Tour St-Christophe, St-Emilion (Pre-Arrival)

95-96 points James Suckling: "Extremely firm and silky. Dark berry, violet, salt and mineral. Full body. Energy, vibrant and verve. Layered and compressed. Best ever here. 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc." (4/2016) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Tour Saint-Christophe, owned by Peter Kwok since 2012, is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc cropped at 33 hl/ha between 3-16 October and matured in 40% new oak. 2009 Moulin du Cadet, St-Emilion

92 points James Suckling: "A wine with very attractive berry and spice character and plums with citrus fruit. Full and silky with a lively finish. Better in 2018." (3/2012) Wine Spectator: "Quite fleshy and direct, with upfront oomph to the raspberry and blackberry fruit flavors, pushed by dense, but creamy, structure. Best from 2013 through 2019. (JM, Web-2012)" K&L Notes: According to Robert Parker: "Moulin du Cadet is a micro-climat of 12 acres located on the plateau north of St-Emilion. Needs two or three years to soften slightly but already impressive." (1/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barde-Haut is dark, fleshy and voluptuous, with notable depth and resonance from the Merlot. Mocha, bittersweet chocolate, plums and spices all add nuance, but above all else, the 2012 is a wine of spherical texture and intensity. Give it a few years to fully unwind. (2/2017) 94 points Vinous: "The 2014 Barde-Haut has turned out beautifully. Dark cherry, mocha, spice, leather and tobacco flesh out in the glass. Drink in 2019." (2/2017) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Fonplegade has an almost opaque bouquet that demanded continuous swirling of the glass before it reluctantly offered blackberry, raspberry and cedar wood aromas, just a touch of fireside hearth in the background. The wine is perfumed while the complex tannins are finely cushioned by the generous black fruits and acidity. It is a wine for long-term aging. Drink from 2026. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (4/2017) 96 points James Suckling: "The aromas of blackcurrants and fresh forest floor are evocative. Oyster shells and stones. Turns to blackcurrants. 2014 La Gaffelière, St-Emilion

96 points Vinous: "A wine of total finesse, the 2014 La Gaffelière is gorgeous. Dark and pliant on the palate, with striking nuance, it presents a striking interplay of juicy Merlot fruit and lifted, Cabernet Franc-inflected aromatics. Silky tannins add to the wine's exceptional feel and precision. The blend is 80 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc. The 2014 spent 25-30 days on the skins, while malolactic fermentation took place partly in tank and partly in barrique. It is deep, medium-bodied, and best drunk over the next 7-8 years. (RP)" (4/2010) Wine Spectator: "Berry and black olive on the nose and palate. (JS)" (1/2003) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The resurgence of l’Arrosee that we’ve seen over the last four or five years is not apparent in the 2000. This year is a blend of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc picked from 22 September until 10 October at 45 hectoliters per hectare. It delivers 14.02% alcohol and an IPT of 65. They now use larger 500-liter barrels, new oak but larger in size to work on the volume of the mid-palate. (2/2013) 91 points Wine Spectator: "This is nicely cloaked with charcoal and roasted apple wood, while the core of steeped fig, blackberry and black cherry paste notes sits in reserve. 2012 Canon, St-Emilion

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from several bottles in recent months, the 2012 Canon is a stupendous wine for the vintage and if anything, it appears to be improving with each encounter. It clearly serves up more than enough volume and fruit intensity on the nose compared to the impressive 2011 Canon: it is very pure with black cherries, wild strawberry, asphalt and blood orange. (2/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2012 La Gaffeliere comes across as quite compact today, although the underlying material appears promising. The 20% Cabernet Franc is evident, especially in the wines tannic profile. 2014 Sansonnet, St-Emilion

A rush of black cherry, plum, chocolate and leather give the wine its bombastic, flamboyant personality. Large and ample to its core, the 2014 is seriously opulent and extracted, and yet all the elements are fused together beautifully. 2005 Benjamin de Sansonnet, St-Emilion

At K&L we love Sansonnet, as it remains one of the finest value chateaux of Bordeaux, especially in superb vintages like 2005. Located at the east end of St-Emilion, on the highest point of the plateau, Sansonnet is neighbor to a few of the great classified growth Bordeaux properties. The d'Aulan acquired the chateau in 1999, and in renovating it, they have pouring many Euros into the winery and vineyards. The acidity is 3.67 pH, and it matured in 100% new oak (focused on five cooperages). I always laugh when critics of Michel Rolland, the great international oenologist who has done so much to improve wine quality throughout the world, say that his wines all taste the same. Do these ig ...Read More »

2008 Pavie-Decesse, St-Emilion (OWC)
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2008 Pavie-Decesse, St-Emilion (OWC - 94JS, 94RP, 92ST, 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another top-notch effort, the 2008 is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc produced from yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare. It reached 14% natural alcohol, no doubt because of the extremely late harvest. A deep purple color is accompanied by massive notes of blackberries, incense, fruitcake, camphor and toasty oak intermixed with a crushed chalk-like minerality (a hallmark of this vineyard). The wine has softened considerably in bottle, and while it seems more structured than the 2010, it reveals a degree of accessibility. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2035. 94+ Points (RP)" (05/2011)

1966 Magdelaine, St-Emilion

95 points John Gilman: "While the 1970 Magdelaine is something of an old friend, I had never had the pleasure to taste the 1966 prior to the vertical tasting I organized with friends back in late 2006 for the original article on the property. Subsequent to the printing of that article, I have had the good fortune to taste the ’66 on a quite few other occasions and the bottles have all been superior to the example I originally reported on and it seems now quite likely that I underrated this wine a fair bit (though I should note that the most recent bottle in March was more like ...Read More »

1989 Soutard, St-Emilion (1.5L)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of my all-time favorite vintages from Soutard, this wine, which is quite dense, concentrated, muscular, and full-bodied, still has a dark garnet/plum/purple color and a nose of damp earth, liquid minerals, plum, and cassis intermixed with some licorice and cedar. The wine is full-bodied, powerful, and aging at a glacial pace. Quite pure, intense, but still not ready to drink, this is a wine for serious connoisseurs. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2020. 2011 L'Arrosée, St-Emilion

92-93 points James Suckling: "Full body, with a solid core of ripe fruit and mineral, stone, chocolate and sweet-ripe fruit. Sold and silky tannins. Very well done for the vintage. I like this better than many past vintages." (4/2012) 88-91 points Wine Spectator: "Dark in profile, with a strong cocoa frame to the blackberry and fig notes. Polished in texture, but more heft than purity in the end. (JM)" (4/2012) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A juicy, seductive, dark plum/garnet-colored effort, this 2011 reveals plenty of bing cherry-like fruit intermixed with spice and earth notes. Round, plush, charming and delicious, this medium-bodied wine shou ...Read More »

2014 Grand Mayne, St-Emilion

92-94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. This is a structured wine, with solid, smoky tannins. It has a strong core of dryness, tough at the edges even if rich in the middle. Blackberries and dark plum skins dominate the fruit flavors. It is going to develop well, although slowly. (RV)" (4/2015) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Grand-Mayne has a fragrant bouquet, perhaps more refined than in recent years with dried rose petals and incense fusing with the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity and a gentle build towards a vivid, lightly spiced finish that maintains imp ...Read More »

2015 Haut-Brisson, St-Emilion (Pre-Arrival)

94-95 points James Suckling: "A wonderful red with beautiful precision and depth. Full body, texture of fine silk. Blackberry and violet character. Hints of walnuts. So persistent. A much more refined style for Haut-Brission. First year without Reserve bottling. Best ever. From organically grown grapes." (4/2016) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Until the 2015 vintage, all the fruit from Château Haut Brisson came from down towards Château Teyssier; however, in 2013 Peter Kwok bought a parcel located on the limestone plateau in Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, which obviously will impact and hopefully improve the quality. 2009 Grand Pontet, St-Emilion Top Pick!
2009 Grand Pontet, St-Emilion

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 70% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine has an opaque purple color and a sweet nose of vanillin, roasted coffee beans, chocolate and kirsch liqueur intermixed with blacker fruits such as cassis. It is rich, full-bodied, moderately tannic, but low in acidity and quite heady and powerful (15% natural alcohol). This impressive wine is a big, back-strapping effort to drink over the next 15+ years. Produced by Sylvie Pourquet, the sister of Gerard and Dominique Becot, this St.-Emilion grand cru classe com ...Read More »
