2012 Les Tourelles de Longueville, Pauillac

91-93 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Barrel Sample* There is a fine depth of flavor here, with solid tannins as well as ripe fruit. This second wine of Château Pichon Longueville is packed with the vintage's hallmark of perfumed black-currant fruit. (RV)" (4/2013) 91 points James Suckling: "A beautiful red with chocolate, nuts and cappuccino aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, chewy and rich. Needs two or three years to soften. Triumph for the second wine of Pichon Baron for this vintage!" (2/2015) 91 points Vinous: "The 2012 Les Tourelles de Longueville is gorgeous. 2010 Les Tourelles de Longueville, Pauillac

92 points James Suckling: "Aromas of blueberries and spices with lots of fresh flowers. Full body, with a beautiful core of ripe fruit that balances beautifully with the tannins and bright acidity. A wine for the future yet so enjoyable now. Second wine of Pichon Baron." (2/2013) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Dark, sleek and inviting, with gorgeous plum cake, fig and blackberry coulis notes mixing with melted licorice snap and tar on the finish. Not small by any stretch, with mouthwatering acidity and vivacity pulling you in now. Should develop with cellaring. Drink now through 2025. 2009 Reserve de la Comtesse Lalande, Pauillac

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, the second wine, the 2009 Reserve de la Comtesse, exhibits notes of forest floor, white chocolate, licorice, black currants and vanillin-infused black cherries. It possesses a sweet, round, generous style given its high glycerin. Both the Reserve de la Comtesse and Pichon Lalande have about 13% alcohol, slightly lower than most Pauillacs achieved in 2009. Drink it over the next 10 years. (RP)" (2/2012) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Bright and sappy, with kirsch and damson plum notes streaking along, fo ...Read More »

2012 Haut-Batailley, Pauillac

92 points James Suckling: "A 2012 with currant, wet earth and walnut aromas and flavors. Full body, firm tannins and a savory finish. Give it three to four years to open. Well done. Better in 2018." (2/2015) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Long owned by Xavier Borie, this Pauillac estate sits next to Batailley and is just south of Borie’s other famous château, Grand-Puy-Lacoste. The 2012, dramatically better from bottle than barrel, is bigger boned, richer and more flamboyant than this wine normally tends to be. The color is a healthy purple, and the wine offers plenty of cassis and licorice as well as a touch of ...Read More »

2012 Les Griffons de Pichon-Baron, Pauillac

92 points Vinous: "The 2012 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is dark, voluptuous and immediate. A burst of sweet red plums, smoke, graphite, licorice and tobacco hits the palate. The tannins are sweet but also energetic. Extroverted in style, the 2012 also has enough depth and overall density to drink well for another decade or so. Rose petal, iron and white pepper add the final shades of nuance. Here in its first vintage, Les Griffons is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. 2014 d'Armailhac, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival)

93-94 points James Suckling: "Very minerally, silky and refined with a full body, firm tannins and currants, stones and citrus. Racy and fine. This has a little more Merlot in the blend but is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon as always. One of the best Armailhacs in a long time." (3/2015) 90-93 points Vinous: "The 2014 d'Armailhac is absolutely delicious. Dark red cherry, plum, pomegranate, spice and floral notes are bold and exuberant in the glass. 2000 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac Top Pick!
2000 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Grand Puy Lacoste is even better than such recent vintages as 2005 and 2009. A broad, classic, large-scaled effort, it boasts a deep blue/purple color as well as tell-tale notes of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, flowers, and unsmoked tobacco. Powerful, full-bodied flavors have shed a lot of tannin, but they remain relatively youthful. This is a young adolescent, broadly flavored Pauillac with an enticing texture as well as abundant richness and fruit. It can be enjoyed now, but promises to hit its peak in five years, and last for two decades. * ...Read More »

2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Pontet-Canet has an extremely pure, vivacious, perfumed bouquet with crushed violets infusing the blueberry and blackberry fruit. But it is all about the detail and precision in this wine. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip in the mouth: lightly toasted black fruit, dried orange peel, cedar and a pinch of white pepper. This feels very cohesive and poised with just a touch of mint entering right on the finish. What a great wine from Alfred Tesseron and Jean-Michel ...Read More »

2015 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival)

96-98 points Vinous: "A dazzling, towering wine, the 2015 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has put on considerable weight in just the last few months. Today, the 2015 is vivid and intense, with a huge backbone of tannin and marvelous complexity. In 2015, the Cabernet Sauvignon is pushed higher as the Merlot was less consistent in its ripening. Graphite, charcoal, tobacco, crème de cassis and new leather are some of the signatures in what is shaping up to be a super-classic Pichon-Lalande. Simply put, the 2015 is one of the wines of the vintage. Tasted four times. (AG) ...Read More »

Its acidity shows through in its bright character that is both approachable and structured. (RV)" (4/2016) 93 points Decanter: "Fuller than its stablemate d’Armailhac, showing more black fruits and a broader palate, but the same silky richness is there – a hallmark of big brother Mouton. The dense, full-bodied 1989 is brilliantly made with huge, smoky, chocolatey, cassis aromas intermingled with scents of toasty oak. Well-layered, with a sweet inner-core of fruit, this awesomely endowed, backward, tannic, prodigious 1989 needs another 5-6 years of cellaring; it should last for three decades or more. (2/2015) 92 points Wine Spectator: "This has a very solid core of dark plum, crushed black currant and blackberry fruit, with lightly firm flesh and good drive through the finish, where alder and iron notes fi ...Read More »

2015 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2015 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival)

97-99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Mouton-Rothschild is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc matured entirely in new oak, as usual. This represents a relatively high percentage of Merlot simply because, as winemaker Philippe Dhalluin told me, that quality was so good. I afforded my sample four to five minutes to open as it was a little reduced at first, but eventually it reveals a gorgeous, extraordinarily intense bouquet of blackberry, cassis, incense and cold slate aromas. In some ways it reminds me of Latour as much as Mouton Rothschild. The pala ...Read More »

2003 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac Top Pick!
2003 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac

95 points Vinous: "A heady, exotic wine, the 2003 Mouton Rothschild takes hold of all the senses. The ripeness and exuberance of the year comes through in spades as this dramatic, opulent wine shows off its radiant personality. The 2003 can be enjoyed now, but it could also use another few years for the tannins to soften. Still, the 2003 is pretty hard to resist today. This is an exceptional, deeply satisfying Mouton endowed with notable richness but also exceptional balance. Hints of toffee, torrefaction and dark spices are laced into the finish. In 2003 the blend is 76% ...Read More »

2014 Clerc-Milon, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival)

91-94 points Vinous: "Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco, new leather and licorice flesh out in the 2014 Clerc Milon. Deep and pliant to the core, the 2014 boasts notable resonance from start to finish. Although not a huge wine, the 2014 is long on finesse and class, with silky tannins that balance some of the more overt elements. Hints of cedar, tobacco, earthiness and herbs add the final shades of dimension. Today, the 2014 is quite inward and not fully expressive, but it is nevertheless absolutely impeccable. The blend is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 11% Cabernet ...Read More »

2011 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (Previously $700)

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* The wine shows the power typical of a Lafite but within the context of the fruity 2011 vintage. The immensely dense tannic structure gives the wine a solid feel that is lifted by so much ripe black currant and berry fruits. At the back, the wine has a more brooding, dark character that suggests great aging potential. Drink this wine from 2019. (RV)" (5/2014) 94 points James Suckling: "Love the nose on this, with sweet tobacco, delicate currant, cedar and blackberry. Full body with integrated tannins and a juicy, fruity, subtle finish. 2004 Latour, Pauillac (Previously $500)

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "There are tannins, structure and power, but also supreme elegance. The 2004 acidity comes through in the sweet cassis flavors, supported at the back by dry tannins. Currently, the wine is closed up, losing some of its fresh fruit, but this is a moment in its slow evolution towards a classic Latour." (6/2007) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A terrific effort from Administrator Frederic Engerer and owner Francois Pinault, the dark ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Latour exhibits a strong cassis character intermixed with notes of crushed rocks, earth, cedar, and forest floor. Racy, elegant, but powe ...Read More »

1989 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (98JS, 96WS, 90RP). James Suckling: "Freshly picked blackberries turn into minty dark chocolate and oozing caramel with domineering eucalyptus on the nose. It becomes yet more complex on the palate thanks to layers upon layers of spices and sage plus fat and rounded tannins. There's a long finish with a bitter aftertaste, suggesting this could do with another 10 years or more of bottle aging. This is a Mouton I found massive at the time, then elegant and slightly austere years later, but today true to its former glory. Like the amazing 1947, it should not be forgotten." (06/2016)

2015 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2015 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, matured in 75% new oak and was picked between September 18 until October 4 (although the "real" picking commenced from September 21). Now, Grand-Puy-Lacoste is often quite "aloof" at this early juncture, but that is not the case with the 2015. This is more approachable aromatically, beautifully defined, thanks to that expressive Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin and finely tuned acidity (pH 3.68). Beguilingly harmonious in the mou ...Read More »

2003 Latour, Pauillac Top Pick!
2003 Latour, Pauillac

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Administrator Frederic Engerer says the 2003 is 'the sexiest Latour ever made.' He also described it as 'the 1990 without any brettanomyces.' I loved this wine from the barrel and was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a small quantity, enjoying every bottle I have had. A profound example of Chateau Latour, the full-bodied, opulent 2003 is already performing well at age eleven, which is somewhat atypical. The pH is a relatively high 3.8, which also indicates low acidity. The wine is very ripe, but not over-ripe, offers great freshness, and lots of c ...Read More »

Dense, thick and unctuously textured, this staggering Latour is undeniably the most sumptuous, opulent wine made here since the 1982 or 1961. Drink it over the next two decades. (RP)" (08/2014)

2010 Bellegrave, Pauillac

92 points James Suckling: "Lots of ripe fruit with hints of eucalyptus on the nose. Full body, with velvety tannins and a bright acidity. Juicy finish. I like the citrus undertone to this. Better in 2016." (2/2013) 89-91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Fine tannins, with plenty of juicy fruit. The wine has wonderful sweetness to go with the acidity." (6/2011) 90 points Wine Spectator: "A note of singed cedar leads the way, accompanied by dark tea, sandalwood, steeped plum and black cherry accents. Offers a plush feel through the finish, with the wood smoke note lingering. Best from 2014 through 2024. (JM)" (3/2013) Jancis Robinson: "Very rich and sweet. But with good ...Read More »

1989 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (soiled labels)

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 has taken forever to shed its formidable tannins, but what a great vintage of Lynch Bages! I would rank it at the top of the pyramid although the 1990, 2000, and down the road, some of the more recent vintages such as 2005, 2009 and 2010 should come close to matching the 1989's extraordinary concentration and undeniable aging potential. Its dense purple color reveals a slight lightening at the edge and the stunning bouquet offers classic notes of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, oak and graphite. Powerful and rich with some tannins still to shed a ...Read More »

2013 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac

95 points James Suckling: "The aromas of Lafite in 2013 are complex and fascinating with cigar box, Spanish cedar, and dark fruit. Hints of hot stone. Full body, chewy tannins yet very polished and refined. Solid density on the palate. Very long and impressive. This needs three to five years to open. Very impressive for the vintage." (2/2016) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Almost entirely Cabernet Sauvignon (98%), this structured and dense wine is packed with concentrated dark fruits that are firm, showing intense acidity and freshness under the dark tannins. It's classic Bordeaux, with fruit a ...Read More »

1996 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 exhibits a dark plum/ruby/purple color that is just beginning to lighten at the edge, surprisingly velvety tannins and a classic Pauillac bouquet of lead pencil shavings, cedarwood, black currants, sweet cherries and spice box. This medium to full-bodied, elegant, savory, broad wine is still five years away from full maturity. It should continue to drink well for another 10-15 years. (RP)" (8/2011) 92 points Wine Spectator: "This is much more open than the 1995. Offers aromas and flavors of currant, mint and spices. Full-bodied, soft and velvety, with a fruit finish.
