2005 Guiraud, Sauternes (375ml)

97 points James Suckling: "This appears to be the synthesis of the fabulous 2001 and 2003. It shows wonderful aromas of botrytis spice, honey and citrus rind. Lots of fruit with a tropical fruit undertone of mango and papaya on the palate. Intense finish." (7/2013) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Delivers lots of botrytis spice, with lemon tart and cooked apple. Full-bodied, with loads of cream and vanilla and an intense tropical fruit and honey aftertaste. 2015 Haut Charmes, Sauternes (375ml)

Haut Charmes is a very special Sauternes bottling, made from the younger vines of the region's most legendary château. Last for minutes. Acidity is all there giving it a dynamic vibrance that jolts your senses. Special wine. It has a little more than than 140 grams of residual sugar, less than the legendary of 2001. It needed some coaxing on the nose so I afforded the sample five minutes of rigorous swirling. Candied orange peel, crème brulee, wild flowers, passion fruit and tangerine are all delineated nicely. The 2016 is deep and resonant on the palate, yet it also retains quite a bit of brightness. The finish sails on and on, coating the palate with a porcelain feel, while an echo of bitter almond hangs effortlessly, like a lace curtain hanging on an endless breeze. Stunning. Best from 2018 through 2043. (JM)" (1/2016) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Climens has a very fragrant bouquet with bunches of white flowers, buttercup, citrus fruits, honey and just ...Read More »

2014 Haut-Bergey Blanc, Pessac-Léognan (Pre-Arrival)

91-93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Tight, nervy and textured, this wine is still masking its fruit with upfront toast flavors. It does, however, have great richness at the end that promises good things to come. (RV)" (3/2015) 91 points Wine Spectator: "This has a vigorous feel, with gooseberry, lemon pith and honeysuckle notes that play off each other, picking up a lively quinine streak through the finish. Drink now through 2019. (JM, Web-2017)" Jancis Robinson: "Racy and with decent balance and density. Quite appetising and savoury. Wet stones. Decent persistence. (JR)" (3/2015)

1988 Climens, Barsac

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1988 reveals layer upon layer of honeyed pineapple-and orange-scented and -flavored fruit, vibrant acidity, high levels of botrytis, and a fabulously long, yet well-focused finish. It is a great wine. (RP)" (4/1995) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Youthful yellow color, with aromas of sliced lemons, lemon tart, and tropical fruit. Medium- to full-bodied, with medium sweetness and a lively fruity finish. Lots of dried fruit and spicy botrytis character. Refined and balanced. (JS, Web-2009)" Jancis Robinson: "Extremely rich - like the thickest of cream - but with crystalline structure and acidity still in ...Read More »

1975 Climens, Barsac (Previously $260)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1975 Climens has a glorious bouquet with beautifully defined citrus fruit, wild honey, orange blossom and just a touch of old antique furniture. It blossoms in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a killer line of acidity. This is still fresh and tense with marmalade, grapefruit, mandarin, bitter orange and brown spices. It feels long and tender in the mouth: quite a powerful Climens at its peak. (NM)" (6/2015) Jancis Robinson: "High-botrytis vintage, low yields (7.2 hl/ha). TA 4.5 g/l (sulphuric), RS 98 g/l. Deep gold with the first signs of amber. More oily ...Read More »

2015 Suduiraut, Sauternes (Pre-Arrival)

97-98 points James Suckling: "A phenomenal white with dried fruits such as apricots and mangos. Masses of bortrytis spice. Full body yet agile and bright with incredible lightness and delicacy. So much cherry blossom too. Small white flowers. Medium sweet. Ginger. Great finish." (4/2016) 95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Suduiraut comes with 123 grams per liter of residual sugar, more modest than some of its Sauternes peers and 4.56 grams per liter of acidity. It has a sense of completeness on the nose already: immense clarity with wild honey and quince aromas that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is me ...Read More »

2009 Doisy-Daëne, Sauternes (375ml)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Doisy-Daene was spectacular out of barrel, however it has never quite reached those ethereal heights in bottle. Perhaps this rich, generous vintage did not quite suit the crisp, tense style of Denis Dubourdieu’s Barsac? Compared to others in this blind tasting, it comes across as more muted on the nose with scents of beeswax, marmalade and lanolin, though the Sauvignon Blanc is very expressive. The palate is very well-balanced on the entry with crisp acidity cutting through the viscous texture. The finish is rounded in the mouth, offering attrac ...Read More »
