2012 Fourcas Hosten, Listrac

Jancis Robinson: "Fully ripe dark fruit. Lightly perfumed. Good harmony on the mid palate, lightish but refined and fresh. Maybe the tannins are just slightly drying on the finish. Drink 2017-2025" (10/2014) James Suckling: "Some blueberry and mineral character, a light to medium body and a simple finish. Turns a little lean. But good flavors." (2/2015)

2013 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (Previously $58)

88-91 points Wine Spectator: "Offers a mix of steeped red currant, macerated cherry and raspberry coulis flavors that race along with a good graphite spine and chalky echo through the finish. Solid. (Web-2014)" 88-90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. Strong caramel aromas lead to a wine that is firmly tannic and too heavily extracted. The wine does have weight, suggesting fruit here, but is hard to taste at the moment." (4/2014) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A deep ruby/purple color emerges from this lighter-weight, medium-bodied 2013 Gruaud Larose along with good purity and sweet tannin. With notes of underbrush, licorice and red and blackc ...Read More »

1983 Clos Fourtet, St-Émilion (Previously $250)

From the importer: "Château Clos Fourtet is a St. Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé property located just outside the entrance to the town. It is distinguished by its beautiful ivy-covered manor house and some of the most extensive underground cellars in the region. Clos Fourtet has had several owners over the years and underwent a mini-renaissance under the stewardship of the Lurtons in the latter half of the last century. Pierre Lurton was the winemaker who really established the property`s reputation as one of the finest on the St. Martin plateau. He left ... Read More »

2008 Lafleur, Pomerol (1.5L) (Previously $1500)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Lafleur is a wine to buy from this very under-rated vintage. A blend of 54% Cabernet Franc and 46% Merlot, the wine has a similar color to the 2010, only less purple. With a beautiful nose of boysenberry , black cherry, damp earth and truffle-like notes in what is clearly a classic style, it is built in a masculine, full-bodied manner along the lines of the 1988 or perhaps 1996. This wine needs a good 5-7 years of cellaring and should keep 30 years. It is certainly one of the most backward 2008s from Pomerol. (RP)" (5/2011) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, moderately satu ...Read More »

1988 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (Previously $160)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Dark chocolate, with meat, fresh mushroom and a light espresso undertone. Full-bodied, with ultrarefined tannins and a meaty, berry, earth and spice undertone, even game. Rich and generous. What a surprise. Much better than I remember. (Web-2009)" Decanter: "Deep red; reserved nose, a hint of toast, lovely fruit lurking in background; soft, rich, dense, still a bit aggressive and hard, needs time to come round, but it is concentrated and firm; quite good length." (6/1993) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1988 is full and rich, with that profound, mineral, spicy, sweet oaky, curranty aroma, gentle, ...Read More »

2013 l'Evangile, Pomerol (Previously $170)

92-94 points Vinous: "The 2013 L'Evangile is one of the more textured, layered wines of the year. Mocha, cloves, plums and black cherries meld together in a wine with considerable richness and vivid, expressive fruit. The 100% new French oak is impeccably integrated for a wine of this age. Raspberry jam, wild flowers and sweet spices linger on the close. This is a terrific showing, especially for the vintage. The 2013 is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, brought in from September 27 to early October. (AG)" (4/2014) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Not shy, with charcoal and bitter cocoa notes, accented by ple ...Read More »
