1995 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac (95RP, 93WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Unbelievably rich, multidimensional, broad-shouldered wine, with slightly more elegance and less weight than the powerhouse 1996, this gorgeously proportioned, medium to full-bodied, fabulously ripe, rich, cassis-scented and flavored Grand-Puy-Lacoste is another beauty. It should be drinkable within 4-5 years, and keep for 25-30. This classic Pauillac is a worthy rival to the other-worldly 1996. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2025. (RP)" (02/1998)

2005 Péby Faugères, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Péby Faugères, St-Emilion (100RP, 94WS, 93JS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A perfect wine in this vintage, the 2005 Péby Faugères has the classic liqueur of blueberries and spring flowers. Dense purple and full-bodied, with unbelievable richness, this tastes like a great Napa Cab from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, even though there’s no Cabernet Sauvignon in it. This is a sensational wine – rich, full and multi-dimensional, with a skyscraper-like mid-palate and finish. Kudos to Péby Faugères for producing one of the perfect wines of the vintage. Drink it in about 3-4 years as well as over the following two decades." (06/2015)

Wine Enthusiast: "If one of 2004’s enduring characteristics is its freshness, then Margaux epitomizes this. It is so deliciously fresh and floating, with great black currant and blueberry fruits, pointed up by spice, mint and a sense of elegance and poise. There’s no doubt about its aging potential either: just feel that heart of firm tannins. (RV)" (06/2007)

Very aromatic, inviting nose of redcurrant, leather and tobacco. Intensely flavored and gripping, with a slightly raisiny singed plum character but also solid framing acidity that gives the wine a juicy quality. Quite fat and full. Rich and dense, with fleshy, fully ripe red and black fruit flavors that linger impressively. Big, ripe, sweet, creamy wine; almost opulent, but without any undue weight or overripe aromas or flavors. This has always been one of my favorite Branaire-Ducrus: really great stuff! 1975 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Montrose, St-Estèphe (93DC). Decanter: "One of the better vintages of the 1970s, from an estate that was recognised to have been particularly successful right from the harvest and was spared the hail that affected some Médoc properties. Today, the nose is dominated by wonderful burnished tobacco, leather and truffle that are such classic markers of older Bordeaux. This is an older wine in its tertiary phase, no question, but it is soft and embracing rather than tired - it gives a shrug and invites you in. The aromatics are less clear than in its youth, but they are still warm, with rich wild strawberries and sweet blackberries burnished with the smoky embers of yesterday's fireplace. 2005 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (98JS, 98RP, 98VN, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Château Mouton-Rothschild is a deeply impressive First Growth. It has been blessed with a sensational nose that comes racing out of the blocks with audacious scents of black fruit, cedar, smoke and pencil box (Philippe Dhalluin mentioned that the signature smokiness/fireside hearth was tangible in around 80% of the vats during élevage). There is a sense of bravura here, of aristocracy. The palate is medium-bodied with sumptuous black fruit, perhaps beginning to soften in texture, one or two years off its plateau. There are layers and layers of black fruit intermingling with graphite and black pepper, and it wisely reins everything in on the finish that is more classic in style and in keeping with the vintage. If you are fortunate enough to have this wine in your cellar, even though those tannins are starting to be abraded by time, afford it another five or six

Its opaque plum/garnet color is accompanied by a gorgeous bouquet of smoke, charcoal, creme de cassis, and flowers. Fleshy and opulent, it comes across like a St.-Julien with a Pomerol texture and allure. This beauty has reached full maturity where it should remain for another two decades. (RP)" (06/2009)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Now extinct, as this tiny 2.6-acre micro-vineyard was absorbed into Chateau Pavie, the 2000 La Clusiere (100% Merlot) was bestowed a perfect score seven years ago, and I see no reason to change that as it remains a monumental effort. Aromas of creme de cassis, blueberry liqueur, charcoal, licorice, and graphite are followed by a stunningly rich, full-bodied, elegant, pure, gentle giant of a wine. Approaching full maturity, it should age effortlessly for another 30+ years. Kudos to proprietor Gerard Perse. (RP)" (06/2010)

Ample singed apple wood lines the finish, melded wonderfully with the fruit, while the minerality lingers on and on in the background, waiting in reserve. Around it all, a beguiling violet note dances. The combination of power and purity is a wonderful thing.—Non-blind Pavie Macquin vertical (December 2014). Best from 2020 through 2035. Opulent, savory, rich, and full-bodied, it is a head-turning, prodigious wine and a complete contrast to the extracted behemoth of Leoville Barton and the backward, classic Leoville Las Cases. 1978 Beychevelle, St-Julien
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1978 Beychevelle, St-Julien (91JG). John Gilman: "The 1978 Beychevelle could still do with a few more years in the cellar to fully blossom, but with a bit of extended aeration, it begins to emerge from its adolescent stage. Given the combination of the 1978 vintage’s slightly green edge and Beychevelle’s propensity to show a bit of bell pepper as well when it is still on the young side, there is a touch of herbaceousness here that may be a bit off-putting to those with a low tolerance to pyrazines. But the nose is complex and lovely at the same time, as it offers up scents of cherries, a touch of bell pepper (already moving in the direction of chipotles), cigar ash, lovely soil tones, a bit of tobacco leaf and a faint whiff of cedar. On the palate the wine is medium-full, long and complex, with fine elegance, moderate tannins, fine intensity of flavor and impressive length and grip on the tangy finish. I really like this wine, but would want to give it four

1995 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1995 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (95JS, 95RP, 95VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled in June, 1997, this profound Mouton is more accessible than the more muscular 1996. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 19% Merlot, it reveals an opaque purple color, and reluctant aromas of cassis, truffles, coffee, licorice, and spice. In the mouth, the wine is 'great stuff,' with superb density, a full-bodied personality, rich mid-palate, and a layered, profound finish that lasts for 40+ seconds. There is outstanding purity and high tannin, but my instincts suggest this wine is lower in acidity and slightly fleshier than the brawnier, bigger 1996. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (100RP, 98JS, 97WE, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Lafite Rothschild comes as close to perfection as any of the great Lafites made over the past three decades (1982, 1986, 1996, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010). This sensational effort came in at 12.7% natural alcohol, it is made in the style of one of this estate’s great classics, the 1959. Composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color to the rim along with a luxurious bouquet of cedarwood, lead pencil shaving, white chocolate, cocoa and cassis. Fat, rich, opulent and full-bodied with low acidity and stunning seductiveness and complexity, this noble wine possesses a bountiful, generous, heady style. 1986 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (96RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still tasting as if it were only 7-8 years of age, the dense, garnet/purple-colored 1986 Gruaud-Larose is evolving at a glacier pace. The wine still has mammoth structure, tremendous reserves of fruit and concentration, and a finish that lasts close to a minute. The wine is massive, very impressively constituted, with still some mouth-searing tannin to shed. Decanting of one to two hours in advance seems to soften it a bit, but this is a wine that seems to be almost immortal in terms of its longevity. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Performing even better from bottle than it did from barrel, this appears to be the finest Lynch Bages since the 2000, 1990 and 1989. According to the chateau, the 2009 has the highest level of polyphenols ever measured as well as high alcohol (nearly 13.5%). A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest largely Merlot with touches of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it is an expressive, voluptuously textured effort with unctuosity and powerful, juicy, succulent blackberry and black currant flavors, low acids, a layered, massive mouthfeel, but no sense of heaviness or fatigue. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Larcis Ducasse...is composed of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc. Although closed at present and less prodigious than I predicted two years ago, it reveals an opaque purple color, plenty of sweet fruitcake, black currant, kirsch, forest floor and earthy characteristics, a full-bodied mouthfeel, sweet tannins and a long finish. It just does not appear to have the extra gear or two I tasted from barrel. Bid on this bottle of 2005 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (97JD, 97RP, 96WS, 95DC, 95VN, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Pontet-Canet vertical in London, the 2005 Château Pontet-Canet has long been one of the stars of the vintage and this might well be the best of over a dozen showings of this wine. However, do not expect ostentation on the nose. This is 2005 and like many wines of this vintage, even with considerable decanting, it remained broody and introspective on the nose, as if it is checking you out and seeing if you are worthy. Once you have been accepted, then it swings the doors open to reveal gorgeous scents of blackberry, briary and cassis fruit, perhaps a little more sous-bois than I have noticed compared to previous bottles. The palate is medium-bodied, but dense and structured—certainly a more masculine Pontet-Canet built for long-term ageing. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien (96JS, 96WE, 96WS, 95RP, 94ST). Wine Spectator: "Hello. Take textbook St.-Julien warmed fig, blueberry compote and blackberry reduction notes along with ample graphite, bramble and tobacco flavors, then dial it up a notch. This has terrific energy to offset the admirable depth and length, and hasn't even started a second phase yet. One of the stars of the vintage.—2000 Bordeaux blind retrospective (December 2015). Best from 2018 through 2033. (JM, Web Only-2016)"

1979-1980 Certan de May, Pomerol Vertical
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1979-1980 Certan de May, Pomerol Vertical, including 1-bottle of 1979 Certan de May, Pomerol (94JG) and 1-bottle of 1980 Certan de May, Pomerol. Of the 1979 Certan de May, Pomerol,John Gilman writes: "It had been quite a number of years since I last had a bottle of the 1979 Certan de May, and I made up for it well in 2005 and 2006 with four or five opportunities to taste the wine. The 1979 Certan de May has not lost a step as it passed its twentieth-fifth birthday, and is clearly a candidate for wine of the vintage. The nose is deep and beautifully pure, offering up notes of red and black plums, a bit of black raspberries, chocolate, tobacco, delicate hints of game and summer truffle, woodsmoke, a whisper of spicy wood and crushed violets. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and resolved, with a lovely core of black raspberry fruit, outstanding complexity, impeccable balance, tangy acidity, and a very long, polished and refined finish of excellent in

2004 Palmer, Margaux
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Palmer, Margaux (94RP, 93WE, 92ST, 91WS, 90JG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This stunning wine is one of the vintage’s great successes. Administrator Thomas Duroux has fashioned a modern day version of Palmer’s brilliant 1966. Displaying a rare combination of power and elegance, this dense purple-colored offering exhibits notes of blackberries, truffles, flowers, incense, and camphor. Long, classic, and medium to full-bodied with stunning texture and richness, this superb effort is a candidate for the finest Margaux of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2025+. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (97RP, 96WS, 95JS, 95WE, 94VN, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years. (RP)" (08/2011)

1982 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (97RP, 96JS, 96VN, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a denser version of the 1990 that stylistically reminds me of what the young 1959 probably tasted like. Still backward with a deep ruby/plum color revealing only a touch of lightening at the edge, the wine offers up an extraordinary nose of caramelized herbs, smoke, cedar, pen ink, black currants, and earth. The gorgeous aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, plump, rich, fleshy wine with low acidity. With 6-8 hours decanting in a closed decanter, it will offer beautiful drinking, but it needs another 5-8 years to reach full maturity. It is capable of lasting 50-60 years. (RP) 97+" (06/2009)

2000 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion (96RP, 92ST, 92WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Extremely young with an unbelievable deep purple color, the 2000 Troplong Mondot has hardly budged since I tasted it in 2003. Two recent tastings confirmed that this is the greatest Troplong Mondot between their profound 1990 and more recent vintages such as 2005, 2008, and 2009. Copious chocolate, graphite, blackberry, blueberry, cassis, and ink characteristics are present in this full-bodied, powerful, massive St.-Emilion. While the tannins are noticeable, they are better integrated than they were seven years ago, and the fruit, extract, and richness clearly outweigh the wine’s structure. This 2000 will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring (longer than I originally predicted), and has at least two decades of drinkability ahead of it. (RP)" (06/2010)

2000 Péby Faugères, St-Emilion
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2000 Péby Faugères, St-Emilion (96RP, (90-91ST), 90JS, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The luxury cuvee from Faugeres (owned by Bernard Magrez), the 2000 Peby Faugeres is the real deal. Sadly, only 500+ cases were made of this compelling St.-Emilion. An inky/blue/purple hue is accompanied by aromas of espresso roast, blueberry liqueur, smoke, and graphite. Thick and unctuously-textured with impressive purity and depth as well as full-bodied power and richness, it needs another 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last for two decades. (RP)" (06/2010)

Bid on this 3L-bottle of 2005 Clarke, Listrac (3L) (OWC - (90-92RP), (89-91WE), 89WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Space limitations did not allow complete tasting notes for this Cru Bourgeois, but 2005 is the finest vintage for these wines since 1982. The range of scores for these wines should give readers an idea of just how consistent this vintage is at this level. Given the style of the vintage, most of these wines should be accessible young yet evolve for a decade or more because of their concentration and tannic structure. (RP)" (04/2006)

2004 Carruades de Lafite, Pauillac (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2004 Carruades de Lafite, Pauillac (1.5L) ((89-90RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lafite’s second wine has become stronger over recent vintages as the selection for the grand vin has become Draconian under administrator Charles Chevalier. The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Carruades de Lafite (48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) exhibits sweet, crunchy, savory, black cherry, and raspberry fruit along with hints of road tar, spring flowers, and a touch of minerality. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 12-13." (06/2006)

1994 Cheval Blanc, St. Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 1994 Cheval Blanc, St. Emilion. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dark ruby/purple-colored, with a complex, spicy, tobacco, vanilla, blackcurrant, mineral, and floral-scented nose, the 1994 is a bigger, more structured wine than the 1993, its older sibling, but is it better? The wine finishes with mouthsearing tannin, which detracts from the otherwise impressive aromatics and sweet, medium-bodied, lush attack. As I have written many times in the past, Cheval Blanc has a tendency to fatten up, put on weight, and expand both aromatically and texturally with age, so perhaps this wine will move in that direction." 1990 Petrus, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Petrus, Pomerol (100JS, 100RP, 98WS, 97ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Petrus remains incredibly young, one of the least evolved wines of the vintage (along with Montrose and Beausejour-Duffau). This dense ruby/purple-colored effort is beginning to hint at the massive richness and full-bodied intensity lurking beneath its wall of tannin. The vintage’s sweetness, low acidity, and velvety tannins are present in abundance, and the wine is massive in the mouth as well as incredibly pure and well-delineated. I thought it would be drinkable by now, but it appears another 5-10 years will pass before it begins to reach its plateau of maturity. This wine is capable of lasting at least four more decades. An incredible achievement! (RP)" (06/2009)

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (97WS, 96JS, 96RP, 94ST). Wine Spectator: "Dark color, with decadent aromas of truffles, meat, ripe berries and tobacco. Turns to sweet, crushed berries. Full-bodied, with very polished tannins and a berry and mineral aftertaste. The serious tannin structure is still hiding behind the fruit of the wine. Tightly wound and beautiful. Solid as a rock. A classic wine. (JS, Web Only-2009) "
