2000 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (97RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Château Pichon Baron is just getting better and better and better. Perhaps the magnum format played its part, but nevertheless...just...wow. This is a millennial Left Bank with the keys to the top drawer. It has an incredibly precise, mineral-driven bouquet with intense black fruit infused with cedar and graphite scents. It just reeks of Pauillac in an almost uncompromising, yet compelling manner. The palate is structured, stylish and effortless, extraordinarily pure and unerringly youthful. This is a Pichon Baron saying, "You ain't seen nothing yet." You could broach this now if you wanted, but the clever people will wisely bunker this for another decade and gloat from 2025 onward. (NM)" (07/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien (100JS, 100WS, 98RP, 97WE, 95ST, 95W&S). Wine Spectator: " *Collectibles, #5 on the Top 100 of 2003* Absolutely fantastic. This is one of the most exciting young reds I have tasted in a long, long time. It shows intense aromas of berries, currants and minerals, with hints of mint. Full-bodied and packed with fruit and tannins, its long finish is refined and silky. A benchmark for the vintage. Las Cases has always wanted to make first-growth quality in a top-notch vintage, and it certainly did in 2000. (JS)" (03/2003)

1990 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Margaux, Margaux (100RP, 98ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Chateau Margaux has turned into a sensational wine that eclipses both the 1988 and 1989...and then some. It has a gorgeous, ethereal bouquet with sumptuous red berry fruit, leather, camphor and licorice—it is the kind of nose in which you just immerse yourself. Is there a hint of brettanomyces here? If there is, I don't really care. The palate is soft and sensual with incredible depth. Fleshy and corpulent for Chateau Margaux, and yet surfeit with breeding and finesse, there are layers or red fruit, kirsch, sage and fig, later tobacco and cloves. I feel that this 1990 Château Margaux is at its peak and yet the harmony, the sheer swagger of this wine just wins you over. Magnificent. Tasted May 2016. (NM)" (10/2016)

Bid on this magnum lot of 2002 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (1.5L) (94ST, 93JS, 93RP, 91WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good saturated ruby-red. Tight nose hints at currant and smoky oak. Highly concentrated, densely packed and built to age. As young as it is, it also shows a lovely velvety texture rare for this vintage. Finishes with terrific breadth, subtle minerality and noble tannins. I've been a fan of this wine since the outset." (06/2005)

1982 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (97RP, 96JS, 96VN, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a denser version of the 1990 that stylistically reminds me of what the young 1959 probably tasted like. Still backward with a deep ruby/plum color revealing only a touch of lightening at the edge, the wine offers up an extraordinary nose of caramelized herbs, smoke, cedar, pen ink, black currants, and earth. The gorgeous aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, plump, rich, fleshy wine with low acidity. With 6-8 hours decanting in a closed decanter, it will offer beautiful drinking, but it needs another 5-8 years to reach full maturity. It is capable of lasting 50-60 years. 97+ Points (RP)" (06/2009)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien (96RP, 95JS, 95WS, 93WE, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The spectacular 2003 Leoville Poyferre exhibits a dense purple color with a touch of lightening at the edge as well as notes of creosote, barbecue smoke, jammy black currants, licorice and spice box. This intense, voluptuously textured, full-bodied St.-Julien possesses low acidity and ripe tannin. Still fresh and exuberant, it is just entering its plateau of full maturity where it should remain for 10-15+ years. (RP)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1986 Talbot, St-Julien (96RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A fabulous wine, and one of the two greatest Talbots of the last 50 years, this wine still has a very murky garnet/plum/purple color and a spectacular nose of sweet creme de cassis intermixed with freshly ground pepper, melted road tar, herbes de Provence, and beef blood. It is followed by an enormously concentrated wine of full body, layers of concentration and sweet tannin. The wine seems to be just hitting its plateau of maturity, where it should last for at least 10-15 more years. A prodigious Talbot. Anticipated maturity: Now-2020. (RP)" (01/2003)

2010 Monbousquet, St-Emilion
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Monbousquet, St-Emilion (95JS, 95WS, 93RP, 91ST). Wine Spectator: "A lush, modern, style, with hyperdrive on the blueberry, loganberry and boysenberry fruit flavors. Nothing gets too heady though, as there's charcoal-studded grip, smoldering coffee grinds and roasted bay leaf notes all in the background for definition and further development with cellaring. Modern, yes, but firmly grounded in its terroir. Best from 2016 through 2035." (03/2013)

But it still keeps the elegance and some of the freshness of 2004, and there is plenty of blackberry flavor to push the wine along. Heavier than many 2004s, it still shows that great acidity. 1986 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien (91RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still backward (frustratingly so), this wine shows a very dark ruby color with a hint of pink at the rim. The aromatics are beginning to emerge from just pure fruit-driven notes to secondary characteristics. Sweet earth, truffle, black currant, underbrush, and licorice emerge with coaxing. In the mouth, the wine is powerful, dense, with high tannin., impressive concentration, and a formidable, sort of old-style personality. The best 1986 Medocs are terrific wines, but have never been wines that show a lot of charm. Like so many of its siblings from the Medoc, one admires the wines more than actually enjoys them,. I still have high hopes that everything will come together. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2030. (RP)" (01/2003)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Extremely fresh, deep nose combines quinine, ginger, minerals and citrus fruits, with white peach and honey notes that suggest viognier (I could not possibly have guessed that this wine was entirely from sauvignon blanc). Rich, honeyed and powerful, with superb fat and depth of flavor. Notes of peach, citrus fruit, hay and honeydew melon. Pontallier says this may be Margaux's best Pavillon Blanc ever, and I certainly can't recall a more promising vintage. (ST)" (06/2005)

1995 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1995 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (95JS, 95RP, 95VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled in June, 1997, this profound Mouton is more accessible than the more muscular 1996. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 19% Merlot, it reveals an opaque purple color, and reluctant aromas of cassis, truffles, coffee, licorice, and spice. In the mouth, the wine is 'great stuff,' with superb density, a full-bodied personality, rich mid-palate, and a layered, profound finish that lasts for 40+ seconds. There is outstanding purity and high tannin, but my instincts suggest this wine is lower in acidity and slightly fleshier than the brawnier, bigger 1996. Both are great efforts from Mouton-Rothschild. (RP)" (02/1998)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Approaching perfection, this wine is inky, bluish/purple-colored to the rim, offering up notes of incense, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, licorice, graphite and spring flowers. A touch of roasted espresso bean is also present. The wine has great concentration, a magnificent, full-bodied mouthfeel, stunning purity, and well-integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood. 1959 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1959 Latour, Pauillac (99JG, 98WS, 96RP). John Gilman: "This is a great, great vintage of Latour from an era where the estate was at the absolute top of its game and made one of Bordeaux’s best wines year in and year out, with a track record of consistent excellence that no other First Growth could match. Given the longevity of Latour in this era, it is not surprising that the 1959 is still a tad on the young side at age fifty-eight and takes some extended time in decanter to fully blossom, but once it has opened up, its brilliance is very easy to see. The bouquet is complex, ripe and beautiful, offering up scents of black cherries, cassis, sweet cigar wrapper, a very complex base of soil, tobacco smoke and a nice touch of Latour nuttiness in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and powerful, with a rock solid core of plush fruit, great focus and grip, really impressive acidity for the ripe ’59 vintage and a very, very long, complex and

1945 Haut-Brion, Graves
Bid on this bottle of 1945 Haut-Brion, Graves (100RP, 98VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted 5 Times With Consistent Notes. The 1945 Haut-Brion is profound. It demonstrates the essence of Haut-Brion's style. The color remains a healthy, opaque garnet with only slight amber at the edge. A huge, penetrating bouquet of sweet black fruits, smoked nuts, tobacco, and tar soars from the glass. The wine possesses extraordinary density and extraction of fruit, massive, full-bodied, unctuously-textured flavors that reveal little tannin, and copious quantities of glycerin and alcohol. It is a fabulously rich, monumental example of a fully mature Haut-Brion that exhibits no signs of decline. Awesome! (RP)" (10/1994)

1985 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1985 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (93RP, 90ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the château, the 1985 Lafite-Rothschild was the best example of this wine that I have tasted a dozen or so times. It has a beautiful nose that is just classic Lafite. It is still fresh yet understated, stately even, with tobacco and cedar-tinged red berry fruit. It is not a powerful bouquet, but there is something...magnetic about it. The palate is still youthful with fine tannin, like the nose, understated yet very well balanced. The acidity here is perfectly judged with an almost nonchalant finish. You almost miss its virtues - it is just so self-effacing and insouciant. Just a really lovely Lafite-Rothschild at the peak of its powers. Tasted March 2016. (NM)" (07/2016)

2000 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 2000 Margaux, Margaux (100JS, 100RP, 98ST, 98W&S, 98WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Absolutely compelling in two tastings of this vintage, the 2000 Margaux is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. The extraordinary seductiveness, complex aromatics, and purity it exhibits lead me to believe it has reached its window of full maturity. Medium-bodied, with layers of concentration, stunning blue, red, and black fruits intermixed with spring flowers, a subtle dosage of new oak, and a distinctive personality that is elegant while at the same time powerful and substantial, this is a multi-dimensional wine that was extremely approachable and drinkable in both tastings I had of it. The color remains a healthy, even opaque bluish/purple, but there is no reason to hesitate to drink it. It should evolve for another 30-40 years, so there is no hurry either. (RP)" (06/2010)

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 1978 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien (OWC - 90RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1978 Las Cases has taken on a garnet hue with some dark ruby tints. The nose is more complex and penetrating than the flavors. The wine offers classic, mineral, lead pencil, smoky, earthy scents, with plenty of ripe fruit, and none of the vegetal herbaceousness that many 1978s have begun to exhibit. The attack offers good ripeness, medium to full body, higher acidity than many more recent vintages, and considerable tannin in the hard finish. Still inky/blue/purple-colored to the rim, it boasts a gorgeously sweet, pure nose of creme de cassis, spring flowers, and a hint of wet rocks. The wine is full-bodied, plush, and expansive with impressive levels of glycerin and purity as well as an endearing texture. It also possesses a long, silky finish with moderately high tannins, but they are ripe and well-integrated. Wine Enthusiast: "With its distinctive antique bottle and gold etched label dominated by a sheep, this is definitely a move away from classic Bordeaux bottling. It is good that the wine can support the presentation. The fruit is so ripe, it almost tastes of raisins, but that sweetness is finely balanced by the dry tannins and concentrated texture. We often tasted it side by side with the 1982, because I always preferred the latter vintage. Of course, the two vintages are quite different in style, with the 1986 a monument to classicism, with great tannin, extraordinary delineation, and a huge, full-bodied nose of sweet, ripe cassis fruit intermixed with vanilla, melon, fruitcake, and a multitude of spices. The wine has always been phenomenally concentrated, yet wonderfully fresh and vigorous. The wine still seems young, yet it is hard to believe it is not close to full maturity. It is a great example of Leoville Las Cases, and another compelling reason to take a serious look at the top Cabernet Sauvignon-based Medocs of 1986. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2035. 1990 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1990 Montrose, St-Estèphe (100RP, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " I was served blind a magnum of the 1990 Montrose in Cape Town, which had been purchased on release and stored in perfect conditions. Now, here was the real deal, unfettered by any infection, a regal Saint Estèphe. It shows approximately the same evolution as the 1989 in bottle, but unsurprisingly showed less bricking in magnum format. The bouquet is cut from a different cloth to the 1989 and attests to that warm vintage: hickory, clove, undergrowth and wild fennel, later garrigue-like scents and terracotta, the latter two more pronounced on the bottle format compared to the youthful magnum. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, yet the balance is perfect, a ballerina-like poise with the structure of the Forth Bridge ... (NM)" (03/2017)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1989 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (95WS, 94RP, 94ST). Wine Spectator: "What a nose here, from crushed mulberry to tanned leather to tar. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins that are soft and caressing, like cashmere. This is so tight and powerful still; it seems to be holding back. Be patient, because it will open with another five or six years of bottle age. Hard to wait. So why do it? (JS, Web-2010)"

Wine Spectator: " *Collectibles* I love the purity of fruit in this wine, with perfectly ripe blackberry, blueberry and raspberry on the nose. Complex and full-bodied, with hints of new oak and wonderfully polished tannins that caress the palate. Long, long finish. This is not the blockbuster it was from barrel, but rather a complete, balanced and gorgeous red. Best after 2015. (JS)" (06/2008)

1982 Branaire-Ducru, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Branaire-Ducru, St-Julien (95VN, 93RP). Vinous: "Bright, amber-tinged red. Knockout aromas of ripe red cherry, cassis, milk chocolate and sweet spices. Rich and dense, with fleshy, fully ripe red and black fruit flavors that linger impressively. Big, ripe, sweet, creamy wine; almost opulent, but without any undue weight or overripe aromas or flavors. This has always been one of my favorite Branaire-Ducrus: really great stuff! 2001 Figeac, Saint-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Figeac, Saint-Emilion (93RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Château Figeac vertical at the property from magnum, the 2001 Figeac is beginning to fulfill its early promise and is evolving into a really quite wonderful Saint Emilion. Deep in color, the nose is initially reserved, but it unfurls to offer enticing mint and salted licorice scents, pencil box and musk that are all beautifully focused. The palate is well balanced with very well-judged acidity. The Cabernet Franc shines through and imparts a subtle bell pepper note. This is fresh and still youthful, refined and poised with veins of blood orange. Coming into its own now after 15 years in bottle, this is open for business and should offer another two decades of drinking pleasure. This 2001 deserves decanting as I observed this improving in the glass. (NM)" (08/2016)

1996 Lagrange, St-Julien
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1996 Lagrange, St-Julien (93ST, 91WS, 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium ruby. Highly complex aromas of blackberry, violet pastille, eucalyptus, leather and game. Wonderfully sweet but with terrific grip, even a touch of youthful austerity. Very classy, subtle wine with terrific inner-mouth energy. Builds very slowly on the back half, finishing with noble, fine-grained tannins and terrific grip. This makes the 1995 seem almost cooked by comparison. Still needs at least five or six years of cellaring. 'We always had unusual tastes in this wine, like eucalyptus and menthol, due to the cool September nights,' noted Ducasse. 93+ (ST)" (09/2004)

1979 Certan de May, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1979 Certan de May, Pomerol (94JG). John Gilman: "It had been quite a number of years since I last had a bottle of the 1979 Certan de May, and I made up for it well in 2005 and 2006 with four or five opportunities to taste the wine. The 1979 Certan de May has not lost a step as it passed its twentieth-fifth birthday, and is clearly a candidate for wine of the vintage. The nose is deep and beautifully pure, offering up notes of red and black plums, a bit of black raspberries, chocolate, tobacco, delicate hints of game and summer truffle, woodsmoke, a whisper of spicy wood and crushed violets. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and resolved, with a lovely core of black raspberry fruit, outstanding complexity, impeccable balance, tangy acidity, and a very long, polished and refined finish of excellent intensity. This is a beautiful bottle of claret at its absolute apogee, and though the reputation of the ’79 vintage is rather moderate, this is a great bottle

Very aromatic, inviting nose of redcurrant, leather and tobacco. Intensely flavored and gripping, with a slightly raisiny singed plum character but also solid framing acidity that gives the wine a juicy quality. Quite fat and full. 1999 Monbousquet, St-Emilion
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Monbousquet, St-Emilion (94RP, 91ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dense ruby/purple-colored 1999 Monbousquet exhibits a port-like bouquet of super-ripe black cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with scents of coffee, tobacco, and vanilla. Tipping the scales at a whopping 14% alcohol (extremely high for Bordeaux), this wine, which spends 18 months in 100% new oak and is bottled unfined and unfiltered, is a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It was cropped at an amazingly low 30 hectoliters per hectare. It possesses an amazing texture, a mid-palate that you could get lost in, and a sensational 40-45 second finish. The exotic aromas, incredible texture, and abundant fruit are reminiscent of Pomerol's renowned micro-cuvee, Le Pin. The 1999 is even better from bottle than it was from cask. It is a remarkable effort for the vintage. (RP)" (04/2002)

Full-bodied, with ultrapolished tannins and a silky mouthfeel. The palate turns to leaves, cedar and dried berries on the finish, which goes on and on. This is still reserved for the vintage, suggesting a long life ahead. Just coming around now, but will improve many years ahead. I have always loved this Lynch. (JS, Web-2010)"
