2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac Top Pick!
2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Pontet-Canet has an extremely pure, vivacious, perfumed bouquet with crushed violets infusing the blueberry and blackberry fruit. But it is all about the detail and precision in this wine. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip in the mouth: lightly toasted black fruit, dried orange peel, cedar and a pinch of white pepper. This feels very cohesive and poised with just a touch of mint entering right on the finish. What a great wine from Alfred Tesseron and Jean-Michel ...Read More »

2006 Le Carillon de L'Angelus, St-Emilion (1.5L) (Previously $200)

The second wine from the great estate of Angelus. It is entering a good drinking window at this stage of development, but will certainly continue to hold in magnum format.

2006 La Lagune, Haut-Médoc

91 points James Suckling: "This is racy for a 2006 with plenty of tobacco, berries and hints of mushroom. Light, stylish earthy character. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a pretty finish with lovely tension. Drink or hold." (3/2015) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Having just had the 2005 La Lagune, which I think is the greatest La Lagune I have ever tasted, the 2006 certainly loses some prestige in comparison, but this is an outstanding wine and further evidence of just how strong this estate’s wines have become. Sweet plum and red and black currant fruit, intermixed with notes of resiny pine forest and for ...Read More »

2006 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This classic, powerful, firm Lynch Bages may be as concentrated (if not more so) than the 2005. It possesses a dense purple-tinged color, tell-tale cassis notes interwoven with hints of roast beef, savory herbs, spice box and subtle oak, good acidity and ripe tannin. (RP)" (8/2011) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Year after year, Lynch-Bages is able to produce sumptuous wines, typically rich, powerful and structured. This is solid, the blackberry ripe fruit enveloping this structure with a velvet sheen. This is developing into one of the successes of the vintage. (RV)" (3/2009) 92 points James Suckling: "Very focuse ...Read More »

2006 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (1.5L)

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby-red. Pungent, high-pitched aromas of blackberry, cassis, minerals, bitter chocolate and mocha. Suave, fine-grained and densely packed, with lovely violet lift to its concentrated dark fruit and mineral flavors. Juicy acidity and serious building tannins give this very young wine terrific backbone for aging. Really spreads out to saturate the palate. (ST)" (5/2009) K&L Notes: 93 points Wine Enthusiast! 92 points Robert Parker: "Closed but promising, this is a tannic, masculine style of wine in 2006, with an inky bluish/purple color as well as aromas of incen... 2006 Croix de Beaucaillou, St-Julien

Jancis Robinson: "Thick crimson colour. Sweet, mild, well balanced nose. Pretty good and tight. Rather polished and well balanced. Fresh and ripe and the tannins perfectly ripe. Quite a surprise! Very very slightly inky tannins but relatively supple until the very end. Real progress on previous years of this wine. Pretty fine. Congratulations." (7/2007) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Croix de Beaucaillou exhibits slightly herbaceous, sweet cherry and cola notes intermixed with loamy soil and wood nuances. Medium-bodied and tannic, but very good... (RP)" (2/2009)

2006 Château d'Arsac "The Winemakers' Collection: Denis Dubourdieu Cuvée No. 2" Haut-Medoc

Jancis Robinson: "Denis Dubourdieu is another of Bordeaux's high-profile wine consultants, even if he has spread his wings geographically more markedly after this wine was made rather than before. His own base is in Graves and Sauternes. Less intense crimson than the No 1 from Michel Rolland. Just mid crimson with some evolution at the rim. Very attractively aromatic, in rather the same way that fine red Graves is - oddly enough! (Perhaps I ought to have been made to taste these wines blind...) Racy and lifted. Rather flattering - not in a sweet, sweet way but in a vivaci ...Read More »
