2006 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I indicated last year, quality has improved dramatically at this estate, and the 2006 is a quintessentially elegant Bordeaux displaying a dark ruby/purple color, a lovely bouquet of forest floor, sweet cherries, cranberries, and black currants, medium body, a textured, sweet, tannic mouthfeel, and a long finish. Everything is beautifully pure as well as perfectly balanced in this outstanding effort. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025. Excellent value." (2/2009) 89 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red. Pure aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice, lifted by minty and herbal nuances. Ju ...Read More »

2006 Reserve de la Comtesse Lalande, Pauillac

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The second wine, the 2006 Reserve de Comtesse, is a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, and 9% Petit Verdot. This beautiful, velvety, seductive effort offers sweet black cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with notions of forest floor and roasted herbs. Luscious, fruity, savory, and long, it will provide enjoyment over the next 10-15 years. (RP)" (2/2009) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, medium ruby-red. Aromas of black raspberry, smoked meat, licorice and herbs. Ripe and serious for a second wine, offering nicely concentrated, lively flavors of ...Read More »

2006 d'Angludet, Margaux

89 points Wine Enthusiast: "Big, ripe fruit emerging from soft, dusty-textured tannins makes this a wine that is already pleasurable. Black fig and plum juice fruits roll comfortably around the mouth, balancing well, and maturing quickly." (3/2009) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A touch of damp earth, sweet plum, and black cherry fruit are present in this spicy, earthy, medium-bodied wine. It is up-front and best drunk over the next decade. It is not all fun and fruit, as some austere tannins are in the finish, but they are not overwhelming, nor are they out of balance." (2/2009) Wine Spectator: "This offers perfumed aromas of raspb ...Read More »

2006 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Pichon Lalande, which blows away the 2005, represents a return to the velvety-textured, rich, sexy style most readers would associate with Pichon Lalande. This blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot no Petit Verdot was included in the final blend exhibits a dense purple color as well as abundant aromas of chocolate, coffee, cedar, black currants, and a subtle touch of smoke, a rich, savory, full-bodied mouthfeel, plump, fleshy fruit, and a superb finish. This is a 21st century version of the brilliant 1996. Anticipated maturity: 2013-203 ...Read More »

2006 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Poyferré produced a shimmering, polished cabernet in 2006, supple and more harmonious than many in the Médoc. Rich new oak lends the wine opulence and darkens the graphite mineral character of the tannins with an espresso-roast blackness. The fruit has dimension, balanced between plump blueberry and a more restrained vegetal note. Satisfying and delicious as a young wine, this should age with grace." (12/2009) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Beautifully dense, this generous, rich wine combines great fruit with a firm but sweet structure. The new wood element is still prominent, but this ...Read More »

2006 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (98RP, 97WE, 96ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sensational effort, the 2006 Mouton Rothschild exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a classic Mouton perfume of creme de cassis, flowers, blueberries, and only a hint of oak. Dalhuin told me that in whisky barrel-tasting vintages such as 1989 and 1990, Mouton was aged in heavily-toasted barrels, and they have backed off to a much lighter toast for the barrels’ interior. I think this has worked fabulously well with the cassis quality fruit they get from their Cabernet Sauvignon. The full-bodied, powerful 2006 possesses extraordinary purity and clarity. A large-scaled, massive Mouton Rothschild that ranks as one of the top four or five wines of the vintage, it may turn out to be the longest-lived wine of the vintage by a landslide. This utterly profound Mouton will need to sleep for 15+ years before it will reveal any secondary nuances, but it is a packed and sta

2006 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc (1.5L)

90 points James Suckling: "This is light a tightly wound ball of wool. It’s velvety textured with ripe tannins, plum skin and berry character. Full, long and intense. Just starting to drink well." (10/2015) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I indicated last year, quality has improved dramatically at this estate, and the 2006 is a quintessentially elegant Bordeaux displaying a dark ruby/purple color, a lovely bouquet of forest floor, sweet cherries, cranberries, and black currants, medium body, a textured, sweet, tannic mouthfeel, and a long finish. 2006 Pétrus, Pomerol

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "After the fabulous 2005, Pétrus again has produced a magnificent wine in 2006, even if it doesn’t hit quite the same heights. It has an immensely powerful structure and concentration, always the hallmark of this wine. But this structure is almost masked by the superbly ripe and fresh fruit. And with all this weight, there is still a sense of proportion, the rich berry fruits, smokiness and light spice beautifully integrated." (3/2009) 94 points Wine Spectator: "This displays green coffee bean and raspberry aromas, with a leafy undertone. Full-bodied, with refined tannins and a prett ...Read More »

2006 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (3L) (damaged capsule)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at Southwold ’06 Bordeaux tasting. This is an impressive showing for Gruaud-Larose under blind conditions. It has a reserved, cedar, leafy nose with good definition and poise with good lift – very Pauillac in style with the Cabernet driving it along. The palate is full-bodied, very well balanced with good acidity. Firm tannins, ripe and elegant, very well poised on the briary finish. Charming. Tasted January 2010. (NM-Wine Journal)" (9/2010) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Initially dominated by tannins, this wine is now evolving to show a softer, easier side. With sweet fr ...Read More »
