2014 Wines Of Substance Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The straight 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is outstanding. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, native fermented, aged in French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it’s a killer value that has lots of blue fruits, violets, graphite and leafy herbs in medium to full-bodied, concentrated, layered style. Savvy readers should buy a case of this and drink bottles over the coming 4-5 years, although I see no reason that it won’t keep longer either. A substantial change with the K Vintners/Charles Smith wines is the separation of the Rhone blends and the Bordeaux ...Read More »

2015 Wines Of Substance Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the best values I’ve tasted in a long time, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from the team at K Vintners was hand-harvested, natively fermented and aged all in French oak. Smoking good notes of cassis, black currants and hints of plum all emerge from this rich, beautifully textured, layered beauty that has solid tannic grip, a silky, elegant texture and a great finish. It has real elegance and finesse and is a dark fruited, unctuous beauty to drink over the coming 3-4 years. These are the Bordeaux variety releases from K Vintners. (JD)" (6/2017)

Its youthful purple/ruby color is followed by gorgeously complex and intense aromas of wild herbs, exotic spices, caramelized beef, licorice and layers of sweet black fruits and creamy black cherry-like nuances. Sexy, vibrant aromas of dark cherry, mocha, mint, espresso and licorice pastille, lifted by a lavender high note. Juicy, spicy and penetrating, with dark berry and mint flavors dominating. 2002 Leonetti "Reserve" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "If any wine can elevate Leonetti’s stunning Cabernet to yet another level, it is this astonishing blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 17% Petit Verdot, all from estate vineyards. Sweet plum, blueberry and blackberry fruits are seamlessly married to layers of different flavored chocolates. Silky and supple, it uses oak as a sensual enhancement, but the wood flavors of mocha, nuts, butter and toast are so beautifully smoothed into the fruit that they are never intrusive. (PG)" (12/2005) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Pure, floral aromas of black cherry, plum, ...Read More »

2012 Quilceda Creek "Palengat Vineyard" Horse Heaven Hills Bordeaux Blend

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A single-vineyard blend of 59% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2012 Palengat Vineyard offers a deep, decadent style to go with classic blackberry liqueur, blueberry, graphite, toasted spices and licorice. A big, beefy, layered and full-bodied effort, it has building tannin, a supple mid-palate and terrific length. It should evolve nicely for 2-4 years and hold for a decade or more after that. This is another serious lineup by Paul and Alex Golitzin and I was able to taste their 2012s multiple times, once at my o ...Read More »

2006 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Red Blend

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 2200 cases of the 2006 Red Wine, a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, and the balance Petit Verdot and Malbec. While not at the quality level of the top wines, it is a fine introduction to the house style at a very fair price. Dark ruby-colored, it displays a bouquet of cigar box, pencil lead, violets, black currant, and a hint of licorice. (JM)" (10/2009) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep ruby-red. Nose dominated by cassis, mocha and nutty oak. Broad, lush and sweet; more red than black in its fruit character than this producer's other 200 ...Read More »

2014 Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blackcurrants, black raspberries, graphite, leafy herbs and even a hint of bay leaf all emerge from the 2014 Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon, and it's deep, rich and beautifully concentrated in the vintage. Made from 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot, it opens up nicely with time in the glass, has ample tannin structure and a great finish. Give bottles short term cellaring and enjoy through 2034. (JD)" (6/2017) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is a blend of fruit from Seven Hills, Loess, Mill Creek Upland, Leonetti Old Block and Serra Pedace. Aromas of minera ...Read More »

1996 Col Solare Columbia Valley Red

92 points and a Highly Recommended designation from the Wine Spectator: "This red blend from Washington displays remarkable density of flavor on a sleek frame. A smooth and generous wine, its black raspberry, cherry, currant and coffee flavors wrap themselves seductively in a blanket of fine-grained tannins. Lasts and lasts on the finish. From the partnership between Chateau Ste. Michelle and Italy's Marchesi Antinori. Contains 85 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 15 percent Merlot. Best after 2001." (06/99)
