1985 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Wine Spectator: "Deep and concentrated with rich, compact currant, plum, cassis fruit that's sweet and fleshy yet tightly wound, lush yet firm and tannic. It's beautifully proporitoned, deliciously fruity, complex, finishing with toasty oak. Best yet from Laurel Glen." (4/1998)90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine has consistently been an excellent performer. The fine Laurel Glen winery, which has made even better Cabernet Sauvignons during the decade of the nineties, fashioned a 1985 with plenty of jammy, sweet blackcurrant fruit, an element of smoke, herb, and licorice, full body, a complex, multi ...Read More »

1986 Kenwood "Artist Series" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine from Kenwood is a monster Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibiting youthful colors, and huge quantities of fruit, extract, glycerin, and tannin. The 1986 Cabernet Sauvignon Artists Series exhibits an opaque purple/plum-like color with light pink at the rim. Its fragrant bouquet offers scents of underbrush, jammy fruit, cedar, pepper, and herbs. Absolutely colossal in the mouth, with huge amounts of fruit, glycerin, and extract, as well as staggeringly painful levels of tannin, this wine needs another 4-6 years of cellaring. It is a massive example of Cal ...Read More »

1988 Kalin Cellars Reserve Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon

John Gilman: "...One has to recognize that the high octane, "hedonistic" side of California Cabernet is made out of concious choice, rather than forced by circumstance, and is produced either because the winemaker and/or proprietor really likes this kind of over the top jam juice or thinks that they can make more money crafting these kind of wines. Of course, with alcohol levels well under thirteen percent, classic Cabernet's such as Kalin's start out life with plenty of structure and are not going to win any beauty pageants out of the blocks these days!... 1990 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon offers an even more spectacular nose than the 1991 (rated 93), largely because it has enjoyed an additional year of evolution. Smoky, cassis, herb, sweet, leathery, meaty aromas are as profound as in the 1991. The wine is even more unctuous and flattering. This full-bodied, gorgeously put together wine should be approachable young but last for up to 15-20 years. Proprietor Patrick Campbell's superb Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on the slopes overlooking the Sonoma Valley has proven to be one of the finest sources for Cabernet in California. The use of traditional winemaking techniques designed not to strip the wine results in a wine that is full of character." (10/1993)

Bid on this bottle of 1991 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Proprietor Patrick Campbell's superb Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on the slopes overlooking the Sonoma Valley has proven to be one of the finest sources for Cabernet in California. The use of traditional winemaking techniques designed not to strip the wine results in a wine that is full of character. The 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals an opaque dark ruby color, as well as a huge nose with aromas reminiscent of leg of lamb cooked over a wood fire and doused with Provencal herbs. The gorgeous, big, meaty, herbaceous, sweet, black fruit aromas and flavors are followed by super-ripe, rich, luxurious flavors. There is plenty of tannin to provide the framework, and the result is one of the most impressive wines I have yet to taste from this superb estate. (RP)" (10/1993)

1991 Arrowood Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

Made from a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Malbec, this deeply-colored wine possesses a rich, fragrant nose of cassis, herbs, and subtle oak. Sweet, ripe, and medium to full-bodied, with well-delineated acidity and moderate tannin, this beautifully-made, authoritatively-flavored, elegant wine should drink well for 15 or more years. 1996 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cépages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Spectator: "* Wine of the Year 1999 * Few things in wine are as frustrating as experiencing difficulties with a great bottling that you’re long on. That’s been the case for me with the 1996 Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cépages, Wine Spectator’s Wine of the Year in 1999. With a 95-point rating, 11,000 cases made and a $28 price tag, it was one of the easier picks we’ve made over the years. The 2001 La Joie (71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) remains a backward, youthful wine revealing an inky/purple color as well as notes of graphite, licorice, creme de cassis, truffles and new saddle leather. 2006 Peter Michael "L'Espirit Des Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky ruby. Complex scents of dried cherry, redcurrant, tobacco and musky herbs, with a suave mineral underpinning; smells like a Saint-Emilion from graves soil. 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The sensational 2006 Reserve Claret boasts an opaque purple color in addition to sweet notes of creme de cassis, flowers, charcoal, graphite, and espresso roast. Full-bodied with layers of depth and richness, moderately high but sweet tannins, and a terrific finish, it will be even better with 3-4 years of bottle age, and should last two decades. (RP)" (12/2009)94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red-ruby. Sexy, very ripe, slightly high-toned aromas of sweet plum, tobacco leaf and minerals. Densely packed, sweet and voluptuous, with very ripe currant and plum flavors enlivened by ...Read More »
