1984 B.R. Cohn "Olive Hill" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "To date this is my favorite wine produced by B.R. Cohn. The 1984 exhibits a deep, thick, red color with amber at the edge. The nose opens to reveal sweet, jammy, red and black fruits intertwined with scents of herbs and toast. Expansive, chewy, and fat, with an attractive fleshiness, this full-bodied Cabernet is drinking well yet promises to last for another decade. It is an impressive, authoritatively-flavored, well-balanced wine. 1986 B.R. Cohn "Olive Hill" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Wine Spectator: "This has reached a fine drinking plateau, as the tannins have softened and the sweet plum and black cherry flavors have a nice black olive and herb accent. You'll still encounter firm tannins, but there's lots of richness and flavor, too." (12/1996)

Very impressive and stylish.--California Cabernet retrospective." (2/2001) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from a blend similar to that used for the 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon, the 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals spicy, cedary, cassis-scented aromas, medium-bodied flavors possessing layers of richness, adequate acidity, and a spicy, round, generous finish with noticeable soft tannin. Drinkable now, probably best 1997-2000." (09/93) 90 points Robert Parker: "The dark, opaque, purple-colored 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve reveals an intense nose of ripe cassis, Asian spices, herbs, and earth. 1992 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend

91 points Robert Parker: "The 1992 Les Pavots, reminiscent of a top-class St.-Julien/Pauillac, is the first vintage that has begun to exhibit some complex cedar, lead pencil, and cassis aromas. Medium to full-bodied, with impressive richness, this layered, intense yet balanced wine still needs another 2-3 years of cellaring, although it reveals more immediate charm and secondary aromas than its three younger siblings. It possesses the potential to improve over the next 4-6 years and drink well for a decade or more. 1993 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Proprietary Red

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1993 Les Pavots, another impressive wine from a vintage that has plenty of skeptics in the West Coast press, reveals a dense, ruby/purple color, and a complex nose of smoke, spice, toast, and black fruits. Medium to full-bodied, with an inner-core of sweet, rich fruit, outstanding purity, and a powerful yet elegant personality, this layered, multi-dimensional wine should drink well young, but keep for 20+ years. Probably best to age it for a few more years." (11/1999) Wine Spectator: "Beef, black cherry, cedar and spice flavors rise to the fore in this medium-bodied, somewhat effusive yet tannic wine. Medium to full-bodied and lush, with plenty of spice, this is an exotic, delicious wine (although not exactly what I think of as North Coast Cabernet) that should drink well for 12-15 years. (RP)" (12/1997) Wine Spectator: "Dense and a touch leathery, with herb, currant, plum and berry notes, finishing with dry, tealike tannins. Best to cellar into 2001 in hopes it softens." This prodigious Cabernet Sauvignon has only gotten better since my tasting last year. Sixty-eight percent of the fruit comes from Sonoma and 32% from Napa. It exhibits classic notes of creme de cassis, licorice, cedarwood, incense and a hint of toasty oak in the background. The wine exhibits notes of forest floor intermixed with chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, espresso, and spice.
