1989 B.R. Cohn "Olive Hill" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

89 points Robert Parker: "When comparing 1989 and 1988, the two so-so vintages for North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon, the 1989s are significantly better. Here is an example of a top notch 1989 that just falls short of being profound. The color is an opaque deep ruby/purple and the nose offers up a classic combination of cassis, spices, herbs, and toasty new oak. In the mouth, there is wonderful intensity, medium to full-bodied richness, soft tannins, fine depth, and excellent length. Approachable now, this wine should easily age for a decade." (06/92)

1989 Hans Fahden "Mountain Cuvee" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

From the winery: "Our Sonoma County Mountain Cabernet is always deep in color and distinct in flavor, due to the influence of the volcanic ash soils in which they are grown. There is a unique note of earthiness not found in wines grown on the valley floor. Our first vintage was bottled in 1986. It was made in the traditional style producing a wine which was a chewy, tannic monster. We have spent the last decade developing a more elegant style of wine which is consistent vintage after vintage. This style reflects a balance between the intense character of... Read More »

1992 Arrowood Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Wine Spectator: "*Top 100 Wines of 1995, Highly Recommended* A big, ripe and well oaked style, packs in lots of ripe plum and black cherry-laced fruit that runs deep and complex, finishing with smooth tannins and fine length. Finishes with a touch of herb and tobacco. Best after 1997." (11/1995) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Arrowood's 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon, like his other red wines, is bottled without fining or filtration. It exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, an excellent nose of cassis and spicy wood, as well as a medium to full-bodied finish with gobs of supple, ripe fruit. It should drink well f ...Read More »

1994 Arrowood Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Arrowood's success with Cabernet Sauvignon, so obvious in the decade of the nineties, continues unabated, with a succession of top quality wines. Another sensational, opulent, rich, extremely aromatic and concentrated red wine from Arrowood, the 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon possesses stunning concentration and intensity, impressive balance and purity, and copious quantities of sweet tannin in the long finish. It should even eclipse the super 1993. Everything Dick Arrowood and winemaker Michel Berthoud produce these days merits significant attention. (RP) ...Read More »

1995 Arrowood Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are few Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignons better than those produced by Dick Arrowood. The outstanding 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts an opaque purple color, followed by a rich, black currant-dominated bouquet with background aromas of new oak, earth, and spice. Extremely full-bodied, with admirable fruit purity, and a layered, multi-dimensional personality, this wine is intensely rich, with formidable levels of glycerin and extract. The wine's tannin is largely concealed by the wealth of fruit. While this Cabernet will be drinkable young, it promi ...Read More »

2005 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cepages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker: "The medium to full-bodied, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2005 Cinq Cepages Proprietary Red Wine (83% Cabernet Sauvignon) reveals a certain austerity along with complex notes of roasted herbs, sweet red and black currants, and a dusty, loamy character. It will benefit from another year or so of bottle age, and should keep for 10 years." (12/2008)

2006 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cepages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Showing the usual balance and harmony of this bottling, which is made from the five Bordeaux varieties, the ’06 nonetheless lacks a bit of the richness of other vintages. It’s beautifully clean and dry, with sound currant, blackberry, herb tea and cedar flavors, but is missing a certain fatness in the middle." (6/2010) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Cinq Cepages (in this vintage, truly a Cabernet Sauvignon rather than a proprietary red as it is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot) possesses soft, sed ...Read More »

2006 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (Pre-Arrival)

Palate-staining cassis and kirsch flavors are framed by silky tannins and gain an exotic candied floral quality with air. For such a deeply concentrated wine, this is strikingly lithe and precise. The finish strongly echoes the red fruit and floral notes and clings impressively.
