1984 B.R. Cohn "Olive Hill" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "To date this is my favorite wine produced by B.R. Cohn. The 1984 exhibits a deep, thick, red color with amber at the edge. The nose opens to reveal sweet, jammy, red and black fruits intertwined with scents of herbs and toast. Expansive, chewy, and fat, with an attractive fleshiness, this full-bodied Cabernet is drinking well yet promises to last for another decade. It is an impressive, authoritatively-flavored, well-balanced wine. (RP)" (8/1994) Wine Spectator: "Very concentrated and youthful, with ripe blackberry and cherry flavors backed by full tannins and firm acidity ...Read More »

1990 Kenwood "Artist Series" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Spectator: "Minty, herbal aromas and flavors course through this focused, tough-textured wine... Has a core of berry flavor trying to break through the cedar and bark character." (12/1993) K&L Notes: From the winery: "Kenwood Vineyards’ sixteenth Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon release features an untitled work by artist Sam Francis, depicting lively expressions of joy and excitement. (2/2001) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from a blend similar to that used for the 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon, the 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals spicy, cedary, cassis-scented aromas, medium-bodied flavors possessing layers of richness, adequate acidity, and a spicy, round, generous finish with noticeable soft tannin. 1992 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend

91 points Robert Parker: "The 1992 Les Pavots, reminiscent of a top-class St.-Julien/Pauillac, is the first vintage that has begun to exhibit some complex cedar, lead pencil, and cassis aromas. Medium to full-bodied, with impressive richness, this layered, intense yet balanced wine still needs another 2-3 years of cellaring, although it reveals more immediate charm and secondary aromas than its three younger siblings. Medium to full-bodied, with an inner-core of sweet, rich fruit, outstanding purity, and a powerful yet elegant personality, this layered, multi-dimensional wine should drink well young, but keep for 20+ years. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is an intriguing Rhone-like Cabernet Sauvignon with a Provencal nose of olives, iodine, black cherries, tobacco, and weedy cassis. Medium to full-bodied and lush, with plenty of spice, this is an exotic, delicious wine (although not exactly what I think of as North Coast Cabernet) that should drink well for 12-15 years. (RP)" (12/1997) Wine Spectator: "Dense and a touch leathery, with herb, currant, plum and berry notes, finishing with dry, tealike tannins. Best to cellar into 2001 in hopes it softens." 2002 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A great, great success...the 2002 Les Pavots, which I loved from barrel as well as bottle, still has a good 20+ years of life ahead of it. At this point, it is tasting like a vigorous young adolescent in its evolutionary development... Inky black/purple, with a nose of incense, licorice, balsamic and Asian soy notes interwoven with blackberry, blueberry and hints of truffle and camphor, this wine is full-bodied, opulent and voluptuously textured, with sensational mid-palate, depth and richness. This is a killer Bordeaux-styled, ripe, exuberant, flamboyant red from Peter Michael that stands as one of the all-time great Les Pavots cuvees ever made. It ideally needs another 3-4 years of cellaring, although it is quite accessible and should keep for a minimum of 20 or more years. Bravo! (RP)" (06/2012)

The wine exhibits notes of forest floor intermixed with chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, espresso, and spice. It is strikingly more tannic, and closed compared to the 2005, which is almost the reverse of the vintage character. There were only 2,000 cases produced of the 2004, which needs 2-3 years of bottle age and should drink well for 15+ years. 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Les Pavots (3,600 cases of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot) is a sensational wine, with a style that suggests a hypothetical blend of a great St.-Emilion and Pomerol. Chocolatey cassis notes intermixed with incense, licorice, and a hint of black olive are present in this wine. When it hits the palate, it comes across as very Pomerol-like, with lushness, full body, and opulence. The tannins are sweet, the pH high, and the wine gorgeously full, pure, dense, and long.
