1986 Fisher "Coach Insignia" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

According to Robert Parker: "A distinctive black-cherry and smoky chocolate-scented nose is appealing. This wine hits the palate with full body, sweet, lush fruit, low acidity, and excellent to outstanding extraction. With fine balance, and a plump, fleshy finish, this delicious wine possesses the texture and mouthfeel of a top-notch Pomerol. This has turned out to be a beautiful wine. Although fully mature, it is capable of lasting for another 5-6 years." (08/96)

1988 B.R. Cohn "Olive Hill Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

According to the Wine Spectator: "Ready to drink, with but a bit of dry tannin left to shed, this wine features ripe currant, herb, olive, toasty oak and spicy notes. Good length.--1988 California Cabernet retrospective." (11/98)

1989 B.R. Cohn "Olive Hill" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

89 points Robert Parker: "When comparing 1989 and 1988, the two so-so vintages for North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon, the 1989s are significantly better. Here is an example of a top notch 1989 that just falls short of being profound. The color is an opaque deep ruby/purple and the nose offers up a classic combination of cassis, spices, herbs, and toasty new oak. In the mouth, there is wonderful intensity, medium to full-bodied richness, soft tannins, fine depth, and excellent length. Approachable now, this wine should easily age for a decade." (06/92)

1992 Lambert Bridge Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon

According to the Wine Spectator: "Dry and well oaked, with a smoky wood edge that overrides the ripe plum and currant flavors. Finishes with a good dose of wood and fruit, with cellaring into 1998 recommended." (12/95)

1995 Simi "Reserve" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Spectator: "Remarkably complex and concentrated, with a dark, plush, focused core of ripe plum, black cherry, blackberry and spice. Turns rich on the long finish. Best from 2000 through 2008." (11/99) 88-90 points Robert Parker: "In my barrel tastings, the Simi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve was among the more forward, opulently-styled 1995s. This attractive wine, which has the potential to be outstanding, exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, and a friendly, open-knit, spicy, sweet blackcurrant nose that borders on jamminess. Pure, with a multi-... Read More »

1995 Chateau St. Jean "Reserve" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

90-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The most noticeable improvements at St. Jean can be seen in the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon program. There are approximately 1,000 cases produced of St. Jean's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine spends 36 months in oak casks, of which 50% are new. The wine is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, although small portions of Cabernet Franc and Merlot are part of the blend. The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve exhibits less aromatic and flavor dimension than the 1994, but superb depth, ripeness, and richness. As with many 1995s, there is a muted character to th ...Read More »

1996 Fisher "Wedding Vineyard" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1996 Fisher "Wedding Vineyard" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Wedding Vineyard (produced from one-fourth ton of fruit per acre) continues to remind me of a hypothetical La Mission-Haut-Brion made from California's ripe fruit. The roasted tobacco, cedar, scorched earth and creosote nuances are present, in addition to copious blackberry, blueberry, and cassis flavors. This is a terrific, full-flavored, highly-extracted wine with plenty of tannin. However, the tannin is sweet and well-integrated, as is the wine's lusty alcohol (14.1%). This is a profound example of Cabernet Sauvignon that should be accessible in 4-5 years, and last for 25-30." (01/2000)

1998 Vérité "La Joie" Sonoma County Proprietary Red

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot (85% Sonoma fruit and 15% from Napa), this fully mature 1998 should drink well for another 10-15 years. Notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, Christmas fruitcake, black currants and loamy soil emerge from this beautifully constructed, rich, full-bodied effort. It comes across like a serious Pauillac from Bordeaux. (RP)" (6/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep medium ruby. Bright, ripe aromas of cassis, black cherry, tobacco and minerals. Quite dense but much more backward and less sweet than the Verite merlot. But this is ripe, layered and d ...Read More »

1998 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cépages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made in a light style, the medium-bodied 1998 Cinq Cepages (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 6% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit-Verdot) exhibits a sweet nose of toast, earth, cedar, licorice, black cherries, and chocolate. There is excellent concentration, but because of the vintage conditions, this wine does not possess much volume, breadth of flavor, or intensity. (RP)" (12/2000) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "The wine’s cherry aromas are almost stewy, thanks to the toast and eucalyptus notes that envelop them; expect more cherry, soy and some herbal complexity in the mouth ...Read More »

2001 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cépages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A lovely Cab, elegant and harmonious. Strikes an even balance between cherry and blackberry flavors, smoky oak, sweet herbs, cocoa and spice. The tannins are beautifully ripe and soft. Of all these qualities, balance is foremost." (3/2005) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Beautifully crafted, dark, rich and layered, with blackberry, cherry, plum and wild berry fruit that zooms across the palate, holding a tight focus and finishing with a long, complex aftertaste. 2001 Peter Michael "L'Esprit des Pavots" Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Peter Michael "L'Esprit des Pavots" Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The seriousness of a Bordeaux varietal program is evidenced by the quality of Peter Michael’s second wine, L’Esprit des Pavots. This is no ordinary second wine, and it is probably inappropriate to even think of it that way as each of the vintages to date has merited an outstanding score. Even better from bottle than it was from barrel, the 2001 L’Esprit des Pavots (an 843-case blend of 47% Cabernet Franc, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot) boasts a deep ruby purple color, a silky texture, and a sweet nose of licorice, white chocolate, laurel, and creme de cassis. It is a beautiful, opulent, medium to full-bodied red to enjoy now and over the next 10-12 years. (RP)" (02/2005)

2001 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Back In Stock!
2001 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

93(+?) points Stephen Tanzer: "($50) Saturated ruby-red. Dark aromas of blackberry, cassis and licorice. Classy and penetrating, with tangy flavors of red- and blackcurrant. At once dense and bright; solidly structured yet already quite sweet and showy. I've used the term "dead fruit" to describe wines made from overripe, desiccated grapes; this is the opposite of dead fruit. Finishes very long and sappy, with firm but suave tannins. Should reward a decade of additional bottle aging." (International Wine Cellar Jan/Feb 05) According to the Wine Spectat... Read More »

2004 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Les Pavots is ripe and is a relatively similar blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine exhibits notes of forest floor intermixed with chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, espresso, and spice. It is strikingly more tannic, and closed compared to the 2005, which is almost the reverse of the vintage character. There were only 2,000 cases produced of the 2004, which needs 2-3 years of bottle age and should drink well for 15+ years. 2005 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cepages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker: "The medium to full-bodied, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2005 Cinq Cepages Proprietary Red Wine (83% Cabernet Sauvignon) reveals a certain austerity along with complex notes of roasted herbs, sweet red and black currants, and a dusty, loamy character. It will benefit from another year or so of bottle age, and should keep for 10 years." (12/2008)

2006 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (Pre-Arrival)

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky ruby. An expansive bouquet displays flamboyant dark berry compote, cherry-cola, licorice and dried rose. Palate-staining cassis and kirsch flavors are framed by silky tannins and gain an exotic candied floral quality with air. For such a deeply concentrated wine, this is strikingly lithe and precise. The finish strongly echoes the red fruit and floral notes and clings impressively. Patrick Campbell told me that he is paying much more attention to acidity these days 'because the last thing we need to worry about is getting enough sugar.'" 2006 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cepages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Showing the usual balance and harmony of this bottling, which is made from the five Bordeaux varieties, the ’06 nonetheless lacks a bit of the richness of other vintages. It’s beautifully clean and dry, with sound currant, blackberry, herb tea and cedar flavors, but is missing a certain fatness in the middle." (6/2010) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Cinq Cepages (in this vintage, truly a Cabernet Sauvignon rather than a proprietary red as it is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot) possesses soft, sed ...Read More »

2007 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa County Claret
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa County Claret (95CG, 95RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Its opaque purple color is followed by a beautiful flowery nose revealing notions of blueberry pie, blackberries, cassis and a hint of vanillin in the background. An opulent, full-bodied red with great depth, purity and richness, it is a blend of 82% Sonoma fruit and 18% Napa fruit. The texture is like a skyscraper and the wine is plush, opulent and ideal for drinking over the next 10-15 years. This brilliant estate, whose vineyards straddle the Napa/Sonoma county line at the top of Spring Mountain, continues to turn out a bevy of exciting wines that first made headlines when Bob Foley was the winemaker. The transition from Foley to the current winemaker, Sally Johnson, has gone flawlessly. (RP)" (12/2010)

2008 Peter Michael "L'Espirit Des Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend

Shows lots of generous fruit with chocolate, lilies and other flowers. Full and round, velvety tannins with lots of strawberry character too. This is gorgeous. Drink it but will improve." 2009 Benziger Estate "Tribute" Sonoma Mountain Bordeaux Blend

"Tribute" is Benziger's 100% estate-grown and vinified Bordeaux-style blend from their Demeter certified biodynamic estate on Sonoma Mountain. It was the first Demeter certified wine from Sonoma County, and among the first in the country. The vintage saw reduced yields with less than average rainfall, and some cool weather that helped to preserve the grapes' natural acidity while keeping the alcohol in check. In keeping with biodynamic principals, this wine was fermented by all native yeasts. It was raised for twenty months in 40% new French oak. Benzige... Read More »

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94ST, 94WE, 93WS, 91CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is no question the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is the most backward and brooding of the wines I tasted from Pride. Firm tannins frame an expressive core of dark red berries, licorice, scorched earth, tobacco, smoke and incense. Today, the 2009 is far too young to offer true pleasure, but it is unquestionably striking. Hints of iron, graphite and smoke add complexity on the finish supported by huge mountain tannins. The 2009 is super distinctive and loaded with personality. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (AG)" (12/2012)

2009 Gundlach Bundschu "Mountain Cuvée" Sonoma County Red Wine

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This reasonably priced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Malbec is an excellent example of California winemaking. Lots of berry fruit, pepper, earth, spice box and underbrush as well as hints of wood and incense can be found in the aromas and flavors of this medium-bodied, dense ruby/purple-tinged 2009. Drink it over the next year or so." 91 points Vinous: "The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Clajeux Vineyard is soft, open and wonderfully accessible. Dark red/blackish fruit, smoke, tobacco, menthol and new leather meld together in a juicy, approachable Cabernet. The wine's mid-weight structure appears best suited to near-term drinking, but I doubt that is going to be much of an issue here. Sweet floral notes reappear on the expressive finish. There are no hard edges or angular contours here." Inky purple to the rim, the wine has flawless integration of acidity, alcohol and tannin, beautiful espresso-infused blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, chocolate, full-bodied opulence, and stunning purity and length. Bid on this bottle of 2013 Hidden Ridge "Impassable Mountain Reserve" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Impassable Mountain Reserve sounds relatively intimidating, but if you want a quintessential example of what perfection is in my business, taste this wine! Absolutely remarkable in every sense -- the incredible pure aromatics of blue, red and black fruits, the minerality, the volcanic, earthy sweetness that emerges in a subtle fashion, the full-bodied opulence, the staggering finish of more than a minute, and its unreal concentration certainly make this one of the most compelling and profound Cabernet Sauvignons I have ever tasted, and the first perfect wine of 2016. This should be nearly immortal, drinking well young, and for those with the patience and wisdom to wait 25-35 years, a legacy wine from Sonoma.
