2005 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Spectator: "Minty bay leaf aromas are pure, with a spicy edge, leading to firm dark berry, mocha, mineral and sage flavors that are tight and well-structured, with firm, ripe tannins that provide an excellent backbone. Much too young now, however tempting. Should only get much better. (JL)" (11/2011) K&L Notes: Martha's Vineyards has become one of the most well known Cabernets around the world for its unique mintiness, its rich layers of complexity and its remarkable overall balance. The 2005 growing season enjoyed almost perfect weather conditions throughout the Valley, resulti... Read More »

2005 Spring Mountain Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* This complex, young wine needs time. It's tannic and closed, although it has a rich heart of black currants, spice and minerals, accented by nearly 2 years in oak. Nowhere near ready, but an elegant example of classic Napa mountain Cab. Should start to be approachable after 2010." (6/2009)

2005 Roy Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot (585 cases), was aged 24 months in 100% new Taransaud barrels. This is a younger, fresher, less complex style of wine, with loads of loamy soil as well as some volcanic/charcoal/ember-like notes that are vaguely reminiscent of a top Graves from Bordeaux. It is opaque purple, opulent, medium to full-bodied, rich and very satisfying, but again, not as complex as its sibling, the 2005 Proprietary Red. Drink it over the next 15 or so years. (RP)" (6/2015) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "The 2005 Cabernet ...Read More »

2005 Gemstone Yountville Bordeaux Blend

95 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe and juicy, with firm, intense, polished black cherry, wild berry, currant and black licorice flavors that are delightfully elegant and refined. The finish goes on and on. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2010 through 2018. (JL)" (10/2008) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better, and also youthful, is the 2005 Proprietary Red, which is a blend from their Yountville vineyard of 94.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.7% Merlot and 2.7% Petit Verdot. This wine was aged 20 months in 70% new French oak, with 815 cases produced. The wine is dense purple and full-bodied, with ...Read More »

2005 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A nose of black raspberries interwoven with floral notes of blackcurrants and spice jump from the glass of this dense ruby/plum/purple wine. This famous vineyard at the northern end of Napa Valley, which in this era was owned by Bart and Daphne Araujo (today owned by François Pinault, the proprietor of Château Latour), can certainly make the argument that it’s one of the first growths of Napa Valley. Sweet, velvety tannin, medium to full body, and extraordinary complexity and elegance characterize this wine, which is seamless and drinking beautifully. Wh ...Read More »

2005 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 95ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A nose of black raspberries interwoven with floral notes of blackcurrants and spice jump from the glass of this dense ruby/plum/purple wine. While not one of their longest-lived vintages, the balance and purity suggest that, while it may be entering its fully mature stage, it certainly can keep going for another 10-15 years. The finish is easily 40 seconds-plus. (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Revana St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Slightly more concentrated, but at the same time more reserved and backward, is the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep plum/purple in color with a sweet nose of burning embers, charcoal, black currants, and some subtle smoked herbs, the wine again displays terrific aromatic complexity and a full-bodied, nicely layered palate impression, with integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol, and wood. It is a slightly deeper, richer wine than the 2004, and the tannins seem slightly more elevated, but this wine has great balance, and just needs 1-2 years of bottle age. It s ...Read More »

2005 Blankiet "Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Paradise Hills Vineyard (1,200 cases) reveals a chocolatey espresso roast note with mocha, blackberry and cassis, high tannins, but full body, superb concentration, purity, and an almost Graves-like scorched earth character. This wine needs 3-4 years of bottle age, and should last 25-30 years. (RP)" (12/2007) 93 points Vinous: "Deep ruby-red. Distinctly cooler on the nose than the 2004, offering scented aromas of blackberry, violet, bitter chocolate, tobacco and wild herbs, along with a hint of hay and a citrus high note. 2005 Colgin "Tychson Hill" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Vinous: "Colgin's 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill is ripe, exotic and flashy, yet also remarkably fresh. A wine of intensity and pure Napa Valley voluptuousness, the 2005 hits all the right notes. Mocha, chocolate, dark cherry fruit and licorice are pushed forward in this sexy, racy, Tychson Hill. The 2005 is a real showstopper. Drink it over the next decade. (AG)" (4/2016) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard is fresh and vibrant, with great fragrance (blueberry, black and red currants, licorice and graphite, as well as floral notes). 2005 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon T6" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon T6 is 100% Clone 6, came in at 14.7% alcohol, and was aged in 100% new Darnajou barrels. It reveals a different character, with notes of charcoal and espresso roast, white chocolate, new saddle leather and a meaty, dense, full-bodied mouthfeel. This is spectacular and terrific stuff. After the RBS, this is probably the most evolved of these five cuvées, although I kept going back to the CCS, which has a hauntingly perfect bouquet. 2005 Robert Mondavi Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon

90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good saturated ruby-red. Riper on the nose than the Napa Valley offering, with notes of currant and licorice and a whiff of medicinal cherry. Generous and open in the mouth, with a sappy quality to the flavors of cherry, leather and earth. More mid-palate sweetness and flesh here. This is higher-toned than the NV bottling in a positive way. Finishes with substantial broad tannins and lingering notes of smoke and earth. (ST)" (5/2008)

2005 Schweiger Vineyards "Dedication" Spring Mountain District Bordeaux Blend (Previously $80)

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This mountain-grown wine is a Cabernet-based Bordeaux blend. It's bone dry and hard in tannins and not showing well now. There's a big heart of blackberries and currants that should emerge sometime after 2011, after which it could become sweet and mellow." (12/2009)

2005 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Proprietary Red is significantly better than what I tasted last year, although I certainly gave it a high score. This wine has fleshed out beautifully. The final blend (84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec) has a deep purple color, a beautifully sweet nose of blackberries and cassis intermixed with some meatiness, smoke, and a touch of pain grille as well as notes of espresso and licorice. 2005 O'Shaughnessy Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 O'Shaughnessy Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder has a soaring bouquet of smoked meats, black fruits, espresso roast, lavender, and creme de cassis. Gorgeously rich, with high tannins, high extract, and superb purity and concentration, this is a beautiful wine that may be even better than my score. The good news, I think, is that they produced nearly 1,000 cases in this vintage, and by Napa standards, this is still a decently priced Cabernet Sauvignon for such compelling quality ... 2005 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 98RP, 96WS, 95ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for one of the wines of the vintage, this stunning 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford includes in its blend some of the oldest Cabernet vines in existence in Napa Valley. It tips the scales at a lofty 15.4% alcohol, but believe it or not, it is strikingly elegant and pure, with laser-like precision. Inky, dark ruby/purple, with a stunning nose of forest floor, creme de cassis and a subtle, earthy minerality, the wine is built like a skyscraper, with a multidimensional mouthfeel and incredible complexity and richness, yet it never comes close to tasting heavy or overwrought. This is just a great terroir, great winemaking, and the results are profound. It seems to be drinkable now, but is capable of at least another 10-20 years of full-throttle pleasure. This is a superstar and a remarkable effort. Bravo! (RP) " (06/2015)

Of the 2005 Bond "Matriarch" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Wine Enthusiast writes: "This year’s Matriarch is very similar to Harlan Estate in structure, and in some ways, a superior wine, or at least more delicious now. Shows the most beautiful black currant, cedar, blueberry pie and Asian spice flavors. What makes the structure so gorgeous are the firm tannins. Ultimately, it’s a refined, exquisite red wine. Hard to imagine a better one for drinking over the next decade, and just shows that price sometimes has no relationship to quality." (05/2009)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan is perfection! It was too easy to deliver the ultimate three-digit score. A sensational nose of pen ink, graphite, forest floor, crème de cassis, a hint of white chocolate, and cedar wood are all present in this majestic, multi-layered wine built like a skyscraper. The freshness is still a component part of this full-bodied, stunningly concentrated wine that is pure Napa purity, power and compelling intensity. Bid on this 375 ml 2-bottle lot of 2005 Carter "Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley (375ml) (98RP, 95WS, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Carter Cellars 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon comes in at a rather modest 14.1% natural alcohol, which probably reflects the cool 2005 growing season. At more than $200.00 a bottle, this may be one of the last Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernets at that price point, and one probably impossible to find except in the auction arena. This wine just has it all - floral notes, crème de cassis, minerality and graphite in what could be a Napa-hypothetical blend of the best of Bordeaux's Margaux and Pauillac appellations. This is a magical site. (Nearly any capable winemaker producing wine from there has proven that time after time.) This is a killer effort - young and fresh, with at least 20 years upside to it. Pushing perfection, it is still a young wine that, like the Coliseum Block, tastes like it's two or thr

Bid on this magnum lot of 2005 Bond "Pluribus" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (98RP, 94VN, 92WS, 91WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Pluribus is from a relatively high-elevation vineyard on the steep slopes of Spring Mountain and planted in the white Tufa volcanic bedrock of that area. This is the most northern vineyard of the Bond Estates, and this wine was just incredible. By far, the biggest, most backward and massive of all the 2005s, this wine behaved as if it were three or four years old, rather than ten. Dense purple, it offers notes of blueberry liqueur, St.-Estèphe-like earth, licorice and a gravelly note with incredible depth, lots of blackberries, and a finish that goes on for 45+ seconds ... 98+ (RP)" (06/2015)
