2010 Anderson's Conn Valley "Eloge" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (Elsewhere $85) Top Pick!
2010 Anderson's Conn Valley "Eloge" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (Elsewhere $85)

93 points Vinous: "Grilled herbs, tobacco, menthol, licorice and plums all take shape in the 2010 Eloge. Rich, layered and expressive, the 2010 is resonant and deeply expressive throughout. Gently spiced notes appear on the finish, adding dimensions of complexity and nuance. Today the 2010 is a bit closed in on itself and a touch compact, while the aromatics aren't quite as precise as they could be. I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted at Conn Valley this year. The wines are often terrific, but at the same time, they have also occasionally suffered from the pre ...Read More »

2010 Robert Craig Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep ruby. Musky cassis, black cherry and spicy bitter chocolate on the nose. Concentrated and chewy but a bit youthfully reduced, with a distinctly medicinal cast to the dark fruit and menthol flavors. Showing little in the way of easy sweetness today. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and a repeating medicinal quality. More brutal today than the Howell Mountain version but with plenty of potential. 91(+?) points" (6/2013)

Densely packed and vibrant, with layered, seamless flavors of cassis, licorice and minerals. Shows an almost chocolatey ripeness yet retains outstanding verve. 2010 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 99VN, 98JS, 95ST, 95WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A remarkable wine, the 2010 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select has gone from strength to strength since it was in cask. It is stunningly rich, with classic, fragrant notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, vanilla, graphite and spring flowers. It exhibits an opaque purple color, with a full-bodied, massive mouthfeel, but no heaviness, and again, a flawless integration of acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood. It’s classic California Cabernet, but beautifully put together, showing impeccable craftsmanship and fabulous potential. This is obviously a very young, infantile style of Cabernet that won’t hit its prime for at least another decade and last close to half a century, based on how older vintages that were less well-endowed have matured from Shafer. 2010 Robert Craig Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep, bright ruby. Aromas of cassis, espresso, licorice and dark chocolate. Deep and sweet but tightly wound, with highly concentrated flavors of black fruits, licorice and violet. Dense and very long, finishing with piquant pepper-and-spice lift and surprisingly fine-grained tannins for a mountain wine. 92(+?) points" (6/2013)

Most impressive on the graceful, long and persistent finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Drink now through 2026. (JL)" (11/2013) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Super-ripe dark cherries, plums, cassis and mocha take shape in the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon. It is the most accessible of the 2010 Cabernets I tasted from Robert Craig this year. Layers of dark red fruit, Chambord, cloves and mint linger on the subtle, perfumed finish. 2010 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is a beauty. Dense ruby/purple-colored, it is filled with creme de cassis fruit, supple tannins and an opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel. The family believes in delivering exceptional pleasure and intensity to their wines, but they also have remarkable aging potential as the 1975 and 1976 Special Selections in my cellar bear witness. Though the Wagner family is not quite the pioneer that Louis Martini, Charles Krug, Beaulieu Private Reserve, Ridge Vineyards and a few others are, they have long farmed and made the wines at Caymus Vineyards. Despite its explosive personality, the straight Napa Valley bottling is pretty approachable for the vintage. I especially like the focus of the finish. In 2010, the Cabernet Sauvignon includes 6% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard sources are State Lane, Stagecoach and Mast. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. 92+ points. The Oroppas is a pretty wine, but it falls short of being truly exciting. The 2010 is 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025." Blueberries, blackberries, violet and cloves seem to pop right out of the glass in this juicy, extroverted wine. Deceptively approachable, the 2010 has plenty of tannin lurking beneath its massive fruit. I would not be surprised if the 2010 shuts down in bottle. Deep, licorice-infused cassis, white chocolate and espresso roast flavors emerge from this complex, full-bodied, opulent, fleshy 2010. Its length, sweet tannins and overall intensity of flavors suggest it can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15 years. Cool, mineral notes frame a core of blue and black fruit, licorice, spices, smoke, and melted road tar as this stunning wine opens up in the glass. Totally alive in the glass, the 2010 captures the essence of this cold, late harvest. Hints of menthol, violets and crushed rocks all flow through to the incisive, vibrant finish. My sense is that the 2010 is still holding back much of its significant potential. The 2010 is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot and 2% Malbec. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2030. Full-bodied, rich and pure, but neither overbearing nor heavy, there is plenty of tannin, but it is cushioned by extravagant fruit and ripeness. It should drink well for a minimum of 20-25 years. A big, rich wine, the 2010 is endowed with serious depth and the formidable structure of the vintage. Blueberries, black currants, graphite, licorice and tar burst from the glass as the 2010 shows off its hugely appealing personality. An inky/purple color and lots of baking spice, espresso, black and blue fruits, and hints of graphite and toast emerge from this wine as well as formidable tannins in the finish. 2010 Barrett & Barrett Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Barrett & Barrett Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blackberry jam, black currants, pine, tar, menthol and licorice are some of the many aromas and flavors that take shape as the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon opens up. A picture perfect example of the vintage, the 2010 impresses for its imposing structure and phenomenal overall balance. The powerful, incisive tannins need time to soften, but this is nevertheless a super-impressive wine, even today. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. Bo and Heidi Barrett have turned out two fabulous Cabernet Sauvignons. Readers may recall the Barretts started their own label when it looked like Cos d’Estournel was about to purchase Chateau Montelena a few years ago. 2010 Abreu "Rothwell Hyde" St. Helena Bordeaux Blend

94 points Vinous: "Perhaps the greatest compliment I can pay the 2010 Rothwell Hyde, Abreu's rarely seen second wine, is that Brad Grimes served it last in our tasting and it more than held it's own. Sure, there is plenty of vintage 2010 pedigree, along with the typical Abreu textural richness, but it is the wine's overall balance that leaves the most lasting impression.
