2010 Mayacamas Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Vinous: "Graphite, smoke, licorice, game, savory herbs and a host of inky blue/blackish stone fruits make an appearance in the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. Beautifully layered and intense, the 2010 offers a compelling interplay of finesse and power. Still, my sense is that the 2010 is holding back much of its potential. Readers need to be patient, but the 2010 is shaping up to be a gem. Every time I go to Mayacamas there is something new to see. The redevelopment of this historic estate proceeds at what looks like a very rapid pace, even if it will be many years befo ...Read More »

2010 Palazzo "Right Bank" Napa Valley Red

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 is another wine of great intensity but coiled, very tight, with high levels of tannin. Sensational in extraction and rchness, this blend of 72% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon is the product of a cool year in Napa. It shows fabulous density, richness, and intensity. Perhaps it will evolve somewhat like the brilliant 2005 has, but it is still excruciatingly young, intense, promising, but needs to be forgotten for at least another 4-5 years and drunk over the following two decades... 2010 Spring Mountain Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Very smooth, yet mouth-drying with firm tannins, this Cabernet is a bit lean, but it defines the elegance that Napa is capable of. The blackberry and currant flavors are balanced by earthier notes of green olives, cola and dried herbs, while the oak is subtle, even though it's all new. Grows more interesting as it warms in the glass, and the alcohol level is a moderate 13.6%. Blended from all five classic Bordeaux varieties, it will improve in the bottle over the next eight years." 2010 Foley Johnson Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points James Suckling: "A red with lots of iodine, stone, currant and spice character. It's full-bodied, chewy and juicy. I like this slightly better than the Estate Bottled in 2010. Needs a least three or four years to soften: better in 2016." (5/2014) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon’s dark ruby/purple color is followed by clean, pure aromas of black currants and underbrush, medium body, excellent purity and an alluring texture. This delicious, accessible Cabernet Sauvignon should also drink well for 7-8 years. Moreover, the pricing is realistic for Napa. (RP)" (10/2013) Wine & Spirits: "This is a new ...Read More »

2010 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* This is, as always, a gorgeous wine, rich, balanced and delicious. It shows classic Napa Valley ripeness, with blackberry jam, plum, dark chocolate and sweet oak flavors. Plush and velvety doesn’t begin to do it justice. Despite its fabulous lushness, this is a wine to age. Depending on your taste, it will provide excellence from now until 2030." 2010 Heitz Cellar "Trailside Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Sweet dark cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco, licorice and mint all take shape as this succulent, resonant wine shows off its expressive personality. Drink this deep, pliant Cabernet Sauvignon over the next two decades. The combination of ripeness from the late season hear and structure is hugely appealing. 2010 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Top Pick!
2010 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Vinous: "Not surprisingly, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is the least expressive of these wines. At the same time, so much of its appeal is in its tightly-coiled energy and tension. Cherry pit, smoke, blood orange, mint and spice open up with time in the glass, but the 2010 is clearly built for cellaring. The wine's brightness and focus are compelling, but the 2010 needs time. 2010 Robert Craig Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Tasted in summer, 2013, this Cab was so tannic it was basically undrinkable. The astringency locks down the palate, but through it are faintly discernible notes of the wine’s richness, in the form of incredibly concentrated blackberries, black currants, dark chocolate and smoky oak. Give this wine at least eight years in the cellar, and it should be providing plenty of delicious pleasure for an additional decade beyond that, if not even longer. 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blackberry jam, black currants, pine, tar, menthol and licorice are some of the many aromas and flavors that take shape as the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon opens up. A picture perfect example of the vintage, the 2010 impresses for its imposing structure and phenomenal overall balance. The powerful, incisive tannins need time to soften, but this is nevertheless a super-impressive wine, even today. (5/2014) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Merlot-based 2010 Proprietary Red Wine Firebelle boasts stunning depth, power and richness. Black cherries, chocolate, spices and new leather explode from the glass in this deep, resonant wine. There is more than enough fruit to fill out the wine’s big, broad-shouldered frame. Layers of dark fruit cover every inch of the palate as the 2010 shows off its considerable personality. This is a terrific showing. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. Mocha, espresso and violets emerge over time, adding considerable complexity, power and depth. Layers of fruit flow through to the voluptuous, inviting finish, but the 2010 remains closed and not fully expressive. 2010 Beringer Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Beringer Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is richer, deeper and riper than the Knights Valley bottling. Chocolate, mocha, plums and spices come to life in this fleshy, mid-weight wine. Readers who appreciate a more mineral-inflected style of Cabernet will prefer the Knights Valley bottling, while those who appreciate radiant, fruit-forward Cabernets are likely to prefer the Napa Valley. Both are beautiful. The blend is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% each Petit Verdot and Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020. This lineup from Beringer is full of highlights. The top Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings are terrific, but I am just as drawn to the entry and mid-tier offerings for their superb value and wide availability in the market. (AG) " (12/2012)

2010 Cain "Concept - The Benchlands" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

Although you won't see much critical acclaim for Cain wines, since this remote, mountain winery stopped sending them out for review in the early 2000s, the previously released 2009 Cain Concept caught the attention of critic James Suckling, who gave it 95 points and an enthusiastic review: "A generous, sexy wine with an abundance of subtle red fruits and mushrooms." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasting the three most recent vintages of the Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon was not only a privilege, but also an intellectual and hedonistic turn-on. The 2010 Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a magnificent wine. Full-bodied and opulent with terrific purity, an intriguing, gravelly, wet stone-like minerality, and a sensational perfume, it has a spectacular finish that lasted over 45 seconds, offering up copious quantities of black currants, black cherries, cedar and vanillin. It is one of the superstars of the vintage. It is accessible now because of the sweetness of the tannins, but make no mistake, there is plenty of structure underlying the luxurious fruit levels. It should drink well for 30+ years. (RP)" (10/2013)

Totally alive in the glass, the 2010 captures the essence of this cold, late harvest. Hints of menthol, violets and crushed rocks all flow through to the incisive, vibrant finish. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 98VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Madrona Ranch, which David Abreu told me he crop-thinned by at least 50%, is a more backward, tannic, brooding wine at present. An inky/purple color and lots of baking spice, espresso, black and blue fruits, and hints of graphite and toast emerge from this wine as well as formidable tannins in the finish. However, the tannins are sweet and well-integrated in this big, blockbuster effort. It will require patience by purchasers as it needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years; it will drink well over the following three decades. As a set of wines, it is hard to surpass the four cuvees from the estate vineyards of David Abreu. Weightless and crystalline, the 2010 is pure silk and finesse. The Coeur de Vallee is always the most elegant of Morlet’s Cabernets, and the 2010 plays true to type. The 2010 is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. Luc and ...Read More »

2010 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98VN, 95RP). Vinous: "David Abreu's 2010 Thorevilos stands apart from all of the other wines in this range for its massive, inky concentration. It is also the last of these wines to be released, which may explain its intense power. A host of graphite, smoke, incense, tobacco, spice and black fruit gradually open up, but the 2010 is a wine for the future. I won't touch another bottle until at least age ten, even though that is almost certainly not going to be enough time to find the wine at its peak of expression. (AG)" (06/2015)

2010 Bond "Matriarch" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

93 points Vinous: "The 2010 Matriarch is quite beautiful in this vintage. Supple and juicy at first, the 2010 has plenty of underlying structure. Rose petals, violets, new leather and a hint of orange peel appear on an exotic, perfumed finish laced with veins if dark red and blue fruits. (AG)" (11/2013) 92 points James Suckling: "Phenomenal aromas of raspberries, flowers and stones. Full body, round tannins and a long, long finish. Tangy dark fruits. Citrus. Some lemon stem." (5/2014) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Firm and dense, yet graceful, with moderately rich dark berry, spice, crushed rock and dried herb notes. Ends with dryin ...Read More »

2010 Hall "Jack's Masterpiece" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Jack’s Masterpiece is one of the cooler, more inward wines in this lineup of 2010 Cabernets. Melted road tar, graphite, pencil shavings and black currants are all supported by clean veins of minerality and acidity. Violet and menthol overtones appear later, adding further complexity to the long, delineated finish. The 2010 is a bit clenched today, but it will soften with another few years in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. (AG)" (12/2012) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright ruby-red. Reticent, lively nose offers cassis, licorice, mint and bit ...Read More »

2010 Favia "Cerro Sur" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cerro Sur emphasizes their belief in older vines, and tiny yielding Cabernet Franc vines. The 2010, a blend of 69% Cabernet Franc and 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibits a deep ruby/purple color and an expansive perfume of blueberries, violets and licorice, a succulent, plush, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, silky tannins, and no evidence of wood. It was bottled without fining or filtration. Drinkable now, it should last for 10-15 years. (RP)" (10/2013) 95 points Vinous: "Bright red berries, flowers, spices, mint and licorice all jump out of the glass in Favia's 2010 ...Read More »

2010 Jacquelynn (Château Boswell) "Beckstoffer To Kalon" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is quite a bit firmer and more tannic than the straight Oakville bottling. A massive, hulking wine, the To Kalon boasts huge power and depth. Chocolate, espresso, mocha, plums, graphite and crushed rocks all come to life as this powerful authoritative wine shows off its pedigree. Although outstanding, the 2010 isn’t a truly epic To Kalon. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2022. (AG)" (12/2012)

2010 Bond "Melbury" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a higher site in the Pritchard Hill area, the 2010 Melbury appears to be prodigious, but is currently extremely backward. My notes indicate it should be forgotten for 7-10 years. With coaxing, this structured 2010 offers up aromas of blueberry liqueur, black currants, charcoal and spring flowers. It possesses gorgeous purity and remarkable incremental richness, but it is quite brooding and backward. Everything it needs for a great future is present, but patience will definitely be required. 98+ (RP)" (10/2013) 97 points Vinous: "The 2010 Melbury is rich, explosive and j ...Read More »

2010 Rudd "Oakville Estate" Oakville Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More serious, substantial and complex is the 2010 Oakville Estate, a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec. This 1,000+-blend was aged in 100% new oak. It exhibits attractive notes of spring flowers, forest floor, licorice, black currants and graphite as well as medium to full-bodied, seriously endowed, beautifully pure and textured fruit notes offered in this stylish, classy, noble wine. It can be enjoyed for two decades. (RP)" (10/2013) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Offers lots of up-front spiciness to the cherry and red berry core. ...Read More »

2010 Hundred Acre "Few and Far Between" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Few and Far Between has a minerality that is also found in the Howell Mountain cuvee as well as deep, luxurious, beautiful black currant and blackberry fruit intermixed with hints of jammy black cherries, licorice, camphor and charcoal embers. Exceptionally full-bodied with sweet tannin, surreal richness and remarkable purity as well as delineation, this pushes ripeness and intensity to nearly over-the-top levels, but it pulls back to simply create a wine of genius. This 2010 should age effortlessly for two to three decades, b ...Read More »

2010 Macauley "Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon New!
2010 Macauley "Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color as well as a glorious nose of blackberries, creme de cassis, licorice, gun flint and a touch of acacia flowers. Rich with nicely integrated oak, plenty of structure and tannin, much of which is concealed by the extravagant fruit quality, this beauty should age handsomely for 10-15+ years. (RP)" (10/2013) 91-94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon is a cool, inward wine, but even at this early stage, it's hard not to see the immense promise of what is in the ...Read More »

2010 Edge Hill "Abel 1833" Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon New!
2010 Edge Hill "Abel 1833" Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Abel Vineyard is striking. Freshly cut flowers, mint, violets, crushed rocks, menthol and licorice seem to jump from the glass. An exotic melange of blue and black fruit follows, all supported by firm 2010 tannins. There is weightless power to the 2010 that is simply marvelous. The 2010 isn't an obvious wine, but it is drop dead gorgeous. Readers will have a very hard time keeping their hands off this jewel of a wine. I can't wait to taste it in another few years, once the tannins have begun to melt away. Anticipated maturity: ...Read More »
