2006 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc Top Pick!
2006 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cantemerle was the "surprise package" of the blind tasting at Farr Vintners' horizontal. It has a conservative nose with rosemary and undergrowth scents that open nicely in the glass, but retain a sense of classicism. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, lightly spiced red berry fruit, sage and white pepper, quite persistent on the finish, which feels very pure. What an outstanding 2006 Claret - a Cantemerle that punches well above its weight. Tasted April 2016. (NM)" (5/2016) 91 points James Suckling: "Very attractive with complex aromas and flavors of berry, mu ...Read More »

2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac Top Pick!
2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Pontet-Canet has an extremely pure, vivacious, perfumed bouquet with crushed violets infusing the blueberry and blackberry fruit. But it is all about the detail and precision in this wine. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip in the mouth: lightly toasted black fruit, dried orange peel, cedar and a pinch of white pepper. This feels very cohesive and poised with just a touch of mint entering right on the finish. What a great wine from Alfred Tesseron and Jean-Michel ...Read More »

2006 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (94RP, 94WE, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the property, the 2006 Château Pichon-Lalande has a voluminous bouquet with outgoing blackberry, cassis and violets scents, a touch of boysenberry jam tucked just underneath, although it does not quite have the delineation of the Lynch Bages. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This feels very composed in the mouth, quite fresh with well-judged acidity, harmonious and tensile on the finish. This deserves a higher score than I awarded out of barrel and it continues to improve year by year. (NM)" (05/2016)

2006 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux

93 points James Suckling: "Wonderful complexity of fruit on the nose, with sweet tobacco, cherries, dried strawberries and flowers. Full body with well-integrated tannins and a complex finish. Ultra-fine tannins. Drink or hold." (6/2013) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Finely structured, this has become an impressive wine, gaining in intensity as it develops. The tannins are powerful but come from concentrated fruit as much as from wood. It is becoming a powerhouse of ripe flavors. This is a wine that shows how Malescot St-Exupéry is joining the top ranks in Margaux." (3/2009) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Complex aromas of truffle, blackberry a ...Read More »

2006 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This classic, powerful, firm Lynch Bages may be as concentrated (if not more so) than the 2005. It possesses a dense purple-tinged color, tell-tale cassis notes interwoven with hints of roast beef, savory herbs, spice box and subtle oak, good acidity and ripe tannin. (RP)" (8/2011) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Year after year, Lynch-Bages is able to produce sumptuous wines, typically rich, powerful and structured. This is solid, the blackberry ripe fruit enveloping this structure with a velvet sheen. This is developing into one of the successes of the vintage. 2006 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Pichon Lalande, which blows away the 2005, represents a return to the velvety-textured, rich, sexy style most readers would associate with Pichon Lalande. This blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot no Petit Verdot was included in the final blend exhibits a dense purple color as well as abundant aromas of chocolate, coffee, cedar, black currants, and a subtle touch of smoke, a rich, savory, full-bodied mouthfeel, plump, fleshy fruit, and a superb finish. This is a 21st century version of the brilliant 1996. Anticipated maturity: 2013-203 ...Read More »

2006 Latour, Pauillac 2018 Ex-Chateau Release (Pre-Arrival)

97 points Decanter: "Powerful, concentrated and seriously young tannins are closed tight around the pure, intense, dark, sweet fruits, followed by a deep undertow of liquorice, cloves and graphite. Extraordinary balance, polish and control. Textbook Pauillac. Drinking Window 2020-2045. (JA)" (6/2016) 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Latour has always had the reputation of producing great wines in the less great vintages. The 2006 is a case in point. It brings structure and ripeness into a form that is almost ethereal. That elegance doesn't take away from the powerful fruit. The fruit in fact melds into the st ...Read More »

2006 Haut-Bergey, Pessac-Léognan

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Consistently one of the top, under-the-radar wines of Pessac-Leognan, Haut-Bergey's beautiful 2006 boasts a deep ruby/purple hue as well as a classic bouquet of hot rocks intermixed with graphite, cassis, incense, and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied with noticeable but sweet tannin, impressive purity, and an alluring texture, it is relatively evolved for a 2006, so consumption over the next 15 years is recommended. (RP)" (2/2009) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, deep ruby-red. Wild, musky aromas of plum, dark cherry, truffle and game, lifted by menthol and licorice. 2006 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien Back In Stock!
2006 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Poyferré produced a shimmering, polished Cabernet in 2006, supple and more harmonious than many in the Médoc. Rich new oak lends the wine opulence and darkens the graphite mineral character of the tannins with an espresso-roast blackness. The fruit has dimension, balanced between plump blueberry and a more restrained vegetal note. Satisfying and delicious as a young wine, this should age with grace." (12/2009) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Beautifully dense, this generous, rich wine combines great fruit with a firm but sweet structure. The new wood element is still prominent, but this ...Read More »

2006 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "At the time it was shown as a barrel sample in early 2007, this was the best wine of 2006. That accolade remains. It has all the power of the Cabernet Sauvignon in Pauillac, which was the greatest success of the vintage. That power comes from the dense tannins as well as the black plum and spice flavors and minerality. The texture becomes velvet, giving a final richness, but never losing its long aging potential. In a year that is good, but not at the top, Mouton has made a great wine. *Top 100 of 2009, Cellar Selection* (RV)" (3/2009) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Mouton ...Read More »

2006 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc (1.5L)

90 points James Suckling: "This is light a tightly wound ball of wool. It’s velvety textured with ripe tannins, plum skin and berry character. Full, long and intense. Just starting to drink well." (10/2015) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I indicated last year, quality has improved dramatically at this estate, and the 2006 is a quintessentially elegant Bordeaux displaying a dark ruby/purple color, a lovely bouquet of forest floor, sweet cherries, cranberries, and black currants, medium body, a textured, sweet, tannic mouthfeel, and a long finish. Everything is beautifully pure as well as perfectly balanced in t ...Read More »

2006 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien

95 points James Suckling: "Subtle aromas of currants, blueberries and minerals. Full body with super-integrated tannins and a fine, fine finish. I love the texture to this wine, and it’s just starting to show you the true quality it has. Start drinking. One of the top wines of this vintage. Better in 2016." (7/2013) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Very perfumed and beautiful, showing blackberry and raspberry aromas, with hints of vanilla. Deep and complex. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long, powerful finish. Excellent for the vintage. *Top 100 Wines of 2009 & Collectible* (JS)" (3/2009) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the château ...Read More »

2006 Ormes de Pez, St-Estèphe

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Under the same ownership as Lynch-Bages, Les Ormes de Pez offers a family likeness in the richness of this wine. At the same time, dry tannins are very much up front-'firm' is the word to describe this wine, which needs 2-3 years to open up." (3/2009) Jancis Robinson: "Aromatic. Medium intensity. Gentle, mild, well balanced with acid more noticeable than the fine tannins. This should eventually become something pretty charming, I think. 17/20 points. Drink 2015-2025." (1/2010) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Somewhat herbaceous but round and sensual, with sweet cherry and cassis fruit as well as hints of in ...Read More »

2006 Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (1.5L)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Smith Haut-Lafitte has an intriguing bouquet with surprising mineral intensity coming through the pure blackberry and cassis fruit. The oak here is beautifully assimilated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a keen line of acidity, quite structured in the mouth, but that mineralité continues right to the finish that attenuates ever such a little. This is a thoroughbred Pessac-Léognan for the vintage. Tasted January 2016. (NM)" (1/2016) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full red-ruby. Expressive nos ...Read More »

2006 Clos du Marquis, St-Julien

92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers violet and blackberry on the nose, with tar. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a fruity, minerally aftertaste. Long and silky. Very serious for the vintage. Best after 2013." (03/09) 90 points Robert Parker: "As usual, the second wine, the 2006 Clos du Marquis, exhibits a character similar to the grand vin, but it is a more fruit-forward effort with sweeter tannins, and a more precocious, evolved personality. With super intense black cherry and cedary notes intermixed with hints of licorice and barrique, this deep, ... Read More »
