Fonseca "Bin 27" Port

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lucid dark ruby color, the Bin 27 has a sweet nose of raisin and fig, complemented by copious dark cherry and black plum. The palate is sweet and spicy on the entry with that fig motif continuing with plush dark chocolate infused black fruit. The finish is short and abrupt, but there is a lingering peppery note to keep customer satisfied. The Bin 27 forms a perfect introduction to the delights of Port. (NM)" (2/2013) Wine Enthusiast: "Full, rich and fruity wine, enticingly aromatic, with strawberry fruits and an easy, just tannic edge. The wine is soft, ripe, the fruits fin ...Read More »

Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny Port

94 points James Suckling: "A gorgeous tawny with dried figs, caramel, dried raisins and coffee beans. Full-bodied, sweet and delicious. This shows such length and beauty. I love the crème caramel and cooked apple tart on the finish. Some pecan pie. Crazy." (10/2015) 93 points Wine Spectator: "*Top 100 Wines of 2013* A complex and full-bore tawny, with deep, intense flavors of orange cream, glazed apricot, baked peach and roasted pineapple that are balanced by concentrated chocolate and toffee notes. It is well balanced, keeping the freshness of a 10-Year-Old while also showing good signs of its wood aging. Just what a 10-Year-Old should be." (12/2014) 90 points Wine Spectator: "This has a zesty, sweet floral aroma, with delicate, well-spiced flavors of apple tart, flan and cocoa powder. 1977 Fonseca Vintage Port

100 points James Suckling: "I found a bottle of 1977 Fonseca in my cellar - probably my last. It was absolutely gorgeous. I gave this fortified wine a perfect score in its youth and I think it has finally evolved into its perfection as a mature vintage Port. Here is the tasting note. 1977 Fonseca Vintage Port: This is in total balance now with such harmony. What amazing aromas of berry and flowers. Full and sweet, the tannins are complete dissolved. (12/2010) K&L Notes: From the Producer: "Six Grapes is one of Graham's original Port marques. Seductive tropical fruit and spice notes linger on the endless finish, revealing citrusy hints. Drink now." (12/2015) 95 points Wine & Spirits: "So mellow and round, this is easy to knock back. Quinta do Noval Black Port

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "'Black' is a new blend produced from classic varieties that do not make it into the Quinta do Noval vintage. There are ripe blackberries, tar, smoke and orange liqueur on the nose that takes time to open. The palate is medium-bodied, very sleek on the entry, fleshy black fruits, sloe, spice and just a hint of white pepper, leading to a very focused finish. Drink now-2020. Tasted April 2010. Lifted caramel aromas with a hint of butterscotch. Suave, rich, spicy flavours – quite sweet but stops just short of cloying on the finish. Supremely fresh, delicate length. Remarkable wine at 50 years old." Taylor 10 Year Old Tawny Port

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV 10 Year Old Tawny Port was bottled in 2014 with 105.23 grams per liter of residual sugar. Easily the 10 with the most weight in the Fladgate group's lineup this issue, it is a rather powerful 10 year old Tawny with plenty of pop, the biggest and baddest of the trio (Fonseca, Croft and this). There is very fine concentration of flavor for a 10 year old Tawny. If I had a quibble, the alcohol shows at times, especially early on and rather notably when drunk a little too warm. Ramos Pinto 30 Year Old Tawny Port

95 points Wine & Spirits: "People in Douro argue over the optimal age for a Tawny. As an outsider, it’s easy to know it when you taste it. There’s no mistaking the freshness in this wine, though it lives mysteriously in complete harmony with its aged character, provoking an immediate sense of pleasure (the yum response) followed by an extended moment of meditation. Complex and elegant, delivering concentrated crème brûlée and tropical fruit notes that linger on the vibrant and buttery finish." (2/2014) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Taylor’s tawny seminar in London. The 20-Year Old tawny is initially a little reticent on the nose, mellow and refined with s ...Read More »

1983 Taylor Vintage Port

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1983 Vintage Port is up for a status check. It is in a pretty good place now. It's been as hard as nails over the years. Not anymore. With softened tannins and a medley of old Port flavors on the finish, this is both sensual and delicious, with velvety texture and an irresistible finish. It doesn't have that hard edge any more, but it does wake up and become more intense with some air. At least from this bottle, it comes together rather promptly and drinks well. It's lacking just a bit of firmness, but its complex flavors and general demeanor make it ...Read More »

Sandeman 40 Year Old Tawny Port

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Dark raisin and dried apricot flavors manifest on this immensely dark, old goldhued wine. Enormous concentration, as with the initially, almost painful acidity that comes through the spirit. This is an old wine, no question, but not too old, one to be savored in sips with all the flavors working at high intensity." (12/2008) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Still fresh and zesty, with vibrant citrus and dried mango flavors that offer candied ginger notes. Finishes with plenty of spice notes, along with hints of anise." (12/2010)

1997 Churchills Vintage Port

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-purple. Blackberry, blueberry and cranberry aromas complicated by notes of apple and fresh herbs. Juicy and fresh in the mouth, but could use a bit more fat and extract. The tart red berry flavors suggest moderate ripeness. But has style and should age well. Finishes with slightly drying tannins, good length and a smoky note. (ST)" (6/2000) K&L Notes: According to the producer's website: "Deep Brick red colour. Seductive on the nose, with notes of fresh mint and menthol. On the palate, a combination of black nougat and green capers, with elegant grip and ... Read More »

1983 Graham's Vintage Port

93 points Wine Spectator: "A superb achievement from a very underrated year. Deep dark ruby-purple, with rich floral and violet aromas, full-bodied, with masses of strawberry flavors, full tannins and a long finish. (JS, Web-1989)" 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Graham is another great port house, producing one of the deepest-colored and sweetest styles of vintage port. Along with Taylor and Fonseca, Graham has probably been the most consistent producer of great port in the post- World War II era. Their tawnys are quite good rather than exceptional, but their vintage ports are truly sublime and sumptuous. The 198 ...Read More »
