Taylor Fladgate "325th Anniversary" Limited Edition Reserve Tawny Port (Ship as 3L)

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a superb blend of aged tawny Ports, blended to celebrate the company’s 325th anniversary. Filled with rich fruit, it has great depth and spicy richness although it is also impressively fresh. Dried fruits and red plums are lifted with a hint of smoky wood and good acidity. Like any tawny Port, it is ready to drink." (10/2017) 94 points Decanter: "Lifted but dense dried and candied fruit nose along with chocolate-covered coffee beans and Christmas baking spices. Multilayered, plush palate with a concentrated, juicy, bright mulberry core of acidity surrounded by rich sti ...Read More »

2011 Fonseca Late Bottled Vintage Port

94 points Wine & Spirits: "David Guimaraens blends this wine from Fonseca vintage lots that do not make the final cut, along with wines initially designated for the LBV. He bottles the wine unfined and unfiltered, intending it to be decanted. His 2011 is remarkable: It has the succulent fruit depths of the Fonseca style, and the intensity of a Vintage-level wine. You could quibble and say the tannins are not Vintage quality, with some rhubarb-like astringency, or the wine is too big and powerful for an LBV. But you're not liekly to find many LBV's with this full-on ripeness, extra ...Read More »

2015 Taylor Fladgate "Quinta de Vargellas" Vintage Port

95 points James Suckling: "This is top class with so much perfume and flower aromas. Violets galore. Full body yet refined and tight with very powerful and polished tannins. This is racy and linear. Turns juicy, fresh and medium sweet. Reminds me of the excellent 1967 Vargellas." (5/2017) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port comes in with 99 grams per liter of residual sugar. Taylor 20 Year Old Tawny Port

94 points Wine & Spirits: "A complex and satisfying Tawny, this sits on the cusp of maturity with freshness continuing to infuse its deepening flavors. That freshness arrives in bold scents of orange zest and juicy citrus flavors, while the maturity mellows those flavors into layers of Marcona almond, date and sweet oak-smoke notes. It finishes with a hint of schist in the tannins. For fruit and cheese at the end of the meal." (12/2016) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV 20 Year Old Tawny Port was bottled in 2015 and comes in at 111 grams per liter of residual sugar. 2015 Fonseca "Guimaraens" Vintage Port

93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Guimaraens Vintage Port is a field blend coming in at 101 grams per liter of residual sugar. This was a tank sample when seen, out of barrel, the final blend and awaiting bottling in a couple of weeks. It should be released by the time this article appears. This is the blend Fonseca releases when there is no "classic" vintage declaration. It is usually intended to be approachable a bit earlier, much like a second wine. It seems pretty impressive this year, though. Round, big and lush, it might well be the best of the 2015s from the Fladgate Part ...Read More »

Taylor 10 Year Old Tawny Port

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV 10 Year Old Tawny Port was bottled in 2014 with 105.23 grams per liter of residual sugar. Easily the 10 with the most weight in the Fladgate group's lineup this issue, it is a rather powerful 10 year old Tawny with plenty of pop, the biggest and baddest of the trio (Fonseca, Croft and this). There is very fine concentration of flavor for a 10 year old Tawny. If I had a quibble, the alcohol shows at times, especially early on and rather notably when drunk a little too warm. (Around 60 degrees Fahrenheit is a lot better than room temperature most of ...Read More »

1977 Graham's Vintage Port Top Pick!
1977 Graham's Vintage Port

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Graham is another great port house, producing one of the deepest-colored and sweetest styles of vintage port. Along with Taylor and Fonseca, Graham has probably been the most consistent producer of great port in the post- World War II era. Their tawnys are quite good rather than exceptional, but their vintage ports are truly sublime and sumptuous. (RP)" (1/1989) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Medium ruby-red. The aftertaste brings out fresh red fruits that are cut by the spirit and acidity to leave a full feeling in the mouth. (RV)" (12/2014) 91 points Wine Spectator: "This is filled to the brim with rich dried fruit and spice flavors, including apricot and mango, with vibrant white chocolate and hazelnut notes. Quinta do Noval Black Port

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "'Black' is a new blend produced from classic varieties that do not make it into the Quinta do Noval vintage. There are ripe blackberries, tar, smoke and orange liqueur on the nose that takes time to open. The palate is medium-bodied, very sleek on the entry, fleshy black fruits, sloe, spice and just a hint of white pepper, leading to a very focused finish. Drink now-2020. Tasted April 2010. There are walnuts, bitter chocolate and a delicious clean aftertaste. (RV)" (8/2006) 93 points Wine Spectator: "A savory style, fresh-tasting despite its age, with a concentrated array of dried apricot, pear, lavender and sage flavors supported by vibrant acidity. Finishes long, picking up a touch of almond to go with the fig, flavors Symington calls -Dow’s hallmarks." Focused and precise, this traditional LBV is notable for its subtle concentration and power. It's not at all jammy, but the expressive fruit lingers and makes it seem richer than it is on opening while the wine's inherent freshness cuts through the mid-palate and gives it a lively feel. It represents the essence of what vintage port can achieve. (JS, Web-1989)" 95 points John Gilman: "The ’63 Taylor is a legend in the making, but unlike the 1970 that has been drinking well for many years already, the 1963 is still at least a dozen years away from its true apogee. I know that there are many port enthusiasts that have been happy drinking the 1963 Taylor for years already, but to my palate this is so ...Read More »

1963 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A light rust, garnet hue with degradated deep brick rim. The nose is comparatively simple with scents of cherry, spice, iron rust and wild strawberry. Perhaps a little flat compared to the others. A medium-bodied palate, quite pretty, with damson, cherries and a touch of sloes. Quite cohesive, though lacking the breeding of great 1963’s. But the finish is pleasantly harmonious with good vigour, though perhaps rather linear. Given its reputation, this is actually better than I anticipated. Something tells me that this is an over-performing bottle, but thi ...Read More »

2000 Dow's Vintage Port

99 points James Suckling: "Shows the intense ripeness of the vintage with hints of raisins and other dried fruits. Full-bodied, medium sweet and so very velvety. A big mouthful. Superb. Just starting to open." (1/2017) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "An impressively concentrated wine, showing the hallmark Dow’s dry edge, but still full of ripe fruit, flavors of black plums and berries. It has weight and spice, but also a delicious perfume, layered through a smooth, opulent texture. (RV)" (10/2009) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An opaque blue/purple color (typical of this vintage's top offerings) is followed by a strikingly provocative aromatic d ...Read More »

2011 Graham's Vintage Port New!
2011 Graham's Vintage Port

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Graham’s comes from the five quintas that have been the source for many years (Malvedos, Tua, Vila Velha, das Lages and Vale de Malhadas). It represents a selection of the 131 pipes from a total production of 1,454 and is a blend of 40% Touriga Naçional, 31% Touriga Franca, 6% Sousão and 23% mixture of very old vines. It has a more 'serious' bouquet compared to the Dow, with beguiling scents of blackberry, wild hedgerow, tobacco and cloves. Straight-laced, very well-defined and compelling, the palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and s ...Read More »

1983 Taylor Vintage Port

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1983 Vintage Port is up for a status check. It is in a pretty good place now. It's been as hard as nails over the years. Not anymore. With softened tannins and a medley of old Port flavors on the finish, this is both sensual and delicious, with velvety texture and an irresistible finish. It doesn't have that hard edge any more, but it does wake up and become more intense with some air. At least from this bottle, it comes together rather promptly and drinks well. It's lacking just a bit of firmness, but its complex flavors and general demeanor make it ...Read More »

1970 Graham's Vintage Port Top Pick!
1970 Graham's Vintage Port

94 points Wine Spectator: "This is an extremely full-bodied, powerful wine, but it still retains a classy balance. Deep ruby, with chocolate and berry aromas, full-bodied, with anise and dried cherry flavors, full, hard tannins and a long finish. Good now but a few more yearsof bottle age would improve it. Best from 1990 through 1993. (Web Only-1989) (JS)" 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Graham is another great port house, producing one of the deepest-colored and sweetest styles of vintage port. Along with Taylor and Fonseca, Graham has probably been the most consistent producer of great port in the post- World Wa ...Read More »

1997 Dow's Vintage Port

95 points Wine Spectator: "Warm and inviting, with a worn leather feel to the mix of dried anise, espresso, bittersweet cocoa, steeped fig and mulled currant notes, which move seamlessly together through the buckwheat-edged finish. There's plenty here to like now, but this has ample energy for additional development. (JM, Web-2017)" 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Mouthfilling and round, without any sharp edges, but this wine remains extremely firm and dense, with several decades of life ahead of it. Dried fig, chocolate and black licorice flavors only hint at what lies ahead." (3/2008) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full ruby. Lightly flora ...Read More »

1994 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

96 points Wine Spectator: "Terrific aromas of berries and violets, with a hint of mint. Full-bodied and lightly sweet, with fine, silky tannins that build on the palate and caress the tongue. Outstanding concentration and harmony. Greatest Vesúvio this century. Best after 2010." (4/1997) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This impressive wine, with an opaque ruby/purple color, reveals excellent richness, layers of flavor, well-integrated alcohol and tannin, moderate sweetness, and a long, heady finish. Pure and impressively built ... (RP)" (10/1996) Jancis Robinson: "Spicy nose and amazingly sweet on the palate -- quite treacley. Some t ...Read More »

Ramos Pinto "Quinta do Bom Retiro" 20 Year Old Tawny Port

94 points Wine & Spirits: "This glossy wine sustains a delicate freshness in its floral fruit. That bright note of tart strawberries and jasmine holds to springtime, while the figgier richness and detailed tannins provide a structure that feels warm and autumnal. It’s a delicious contrast, the elements finely interwoven, a satisfying tawny to extend a holiday meal." (12/2014) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It comes in at 122.3 grams per liter of residual sugar and was aged in wood of varying sizes and types (Portuguese and French oak, chestnut and cherry tree). Average in concentration, this is a friendly 20-year ...Read More »
