2015 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I was able to taste all of the components of the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape and this is a vintage described by Marc Perrin where every variety excelled. The Grenache and Mourvèdre were the clear standouts, both possessing terrific concentration, purity of fruit and ripe tannic structure. This will certainly be an outstanding wine, and it has a touch more concentration than the 2012. This reference point estate continues to achieve incredible quality in just about every vintage. They’ve certainly made the wine of the vintage in 2014 with their Hommage a ...Read More »

2012 Le Clos du Caillou "Les Safres" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Elsewhere $75)

93 points Vinous: "Vivid ruby-red. Exotically perfumed scents of raspberry liqueur, potpourri and Asian spices, with a zesty mineral nuance adding lift. Juicy and precise on the palate, offering sweet red fruit flavors that expand and deepen with air. Floral pastille and spicecake notes add complexity to the very long finish, which features gently gripping tannins. (JR)" (4/2015) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Offering more kirsch and dark fruit (over the straight Châteauneuf), with plenty of ground pepper and minerality, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Les Safres is medium to full-bodied, layered and satiny ...Read More »

2012 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône

91 points Vinous: "Deep ruby. Spice- and smoke-accented cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by suggestions of candied violet and cracked pepper. Spicy, energetic and sharply focused on the palate, offering concentrated bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that open up slowly with air. Distinctly northern Rhône in personality and texture, featuring a peppery, floral-dominated finish, smooth tannins and excellent closing thrust and persistence. Closes spicy and long; harmonious tannins add shape and grip. (JR)" (2/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014s from this estate are solid. 2015 Ermitage "Victor" Costières de Nîmes Rouge

Costières de Nîmes is at the southernmost part of the Rhône Valley sitting on the opposite bank of Chateauneuf du Pape. One of our best new finds is Chateau de l'Ermitage which produces three terrific values with imminent drinkability. The estate's history traces back to the 12th century when the winery produced wine for the pilgirms of Saint Jacques de Compostelle who were traveling the Santiago de Compostela. 2015 Cave de Rasteau "Dame Victoria" Rasteau

An award winner at many French wine competitions, the Dame Victoria is an impressive Rhône red raised not far from the fabled vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Warmly fruited and full of robust, rustic character, the nose offers minerality and blue fruit notes, which are echoed on the palate and joined with berries, berries, and more berries. Elegant on the supple finish, this is just the red to pair with chicken, burgers, roasts and cheesy vegetarian dishes.

2015 E. Guigal Condrieu (Pre-Arrival)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Guigal’s 2015 Condrieu is a blockbuster that, if not for its big brother, would be one of the wines of the vintage. Aged in one-third new barrels and two-thirds in tank, it’s a rich, unctuous, thrillingly textured beauty that has plenty of orange blossom, flower oil, tangerine and peach. Fruit-loaded, with just a touch of minerality, it should be drunk over the coming 2-4 years." I suspect this beauty will close down relatively quickly after bottling and take 5-6 years to show at its best, but it will drink well for 15+ years. (JD)" (10/2016)

Drink it over the coming 2-4 years (JD)" (10/2016) K&L Notes: Laurence Feraud and her father Paul run the benchmark Chateauneuf du Pape estate Domaine Pegau. 2010 Domaine de la Jaufrette Côtes-du-Rhone

When first tasting the wines of Domaine de la Jaufrette, the name López de Heredia sprang to mind. That famous Rioja producer is known for its late-release and complex reds that are subtle, old school and long lived. Jaufrette, to my mind, is the Rhône equivalent. Jaufrette is run by Frédéric Chastan, the third generation winemaker to oversee this project. The winery sits just outside the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation but has holdings in Vacqueyras, Gigondas and Côtes du Rhône. Showing a touch of saltiness on the finish, drink this beauty with food over the coming year or so. (JM)" (11/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The top red of the estate is the 2013 Baron Louis Lirac and it’s a blend of 55% Grenache, 15% each of Syrah and Cinsault, and the rest Carignan and Mourvèdre. 2014 Cécile Chassagne Gigondas

Named for the family's second-generation winemaker, Cécile Chassagne took over the family vineyard in Gigondas which was planted by her father in 1974. This blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah is made in a traditional method without destemming. A long fermentation in open-topped wood tanks followed by aging the wine for four months in new Allier oak. The resulting wine is medium-bodied in a meaty and elegant expression of Gigondas terroir.

There's a wealth of richness and power here, and it's so layered and dense. A wine that shows a smooth build of fine and even tannin. The gentle pepperiness cracks into the finish, where there's another warm dark chocolate afterglow. This spent 36 months in oak, of which 50% was new. Possessing a touch of modern sheen in its graphite, black raspberry and crushed violet bouquet, this beauty hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a tight, focused, yet gorgeously pure texture and good, maybe not great levels of concentration. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The basic 2010 Cotes du Rhone is excellent. It exhibits very good ripeness and lots of minerality along with floral, red and dark fruit notes. (RP)" (10/2012) Wine Spectator: "An open, friendly style, with a light briary note propelling blackberry, anise and plum sauce flavors. (JM)" (10/2013) K&L Notes: Montfaucon crafts their Côtes du Rhône to express the intense fruit characteristics of the appellation. A blend of 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Cinsault and 10% Carignan, the wine has been fermented and aged in concrete tanks for 18 months. Concrete fermentation and aging is a common m... 2014 Domaine Faury Saint-Joseph Vieilles Vignes

92-94 points Vinous: "Vivid ruby. Seductively perfumed aromas of dark berry liqueur, spice-cake, olive and candied flowers and an emerging smoky mineral note. Offers deep-pitched blueberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors, along with a peppery spice nuance that builds slowly with air. Weighty, sweet and impressively lively on the minerally finish, showing excellent clarity and fine-grained tannins that come in late. (JR)" (3/2016) 94 points Wine & Spirits: "Lionel Faury makes this wine from about two acres of syrah, the oldest vines dating to 1937, the youngest to 1976. He vinifies it like he ...Read More »

2014 Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape

92-94 points Vinous: "Brilliant ruby-red. Smoke-accented aromas of red and dark berry preserves, star anise and candied flowers convey a subtle hint of garrigue in the background. Sweet, seamless and broad on the palate, offering concentrated black raspberry and rose pastille flavors that turn spicier with air. Rich but vibrant as well, with no excess fat. Supple tannins build steadily on a very long, incisive finish that leaves behind notes of dark berries and candied flowers. (JR)" (4/2016) 89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape is a classic blend of 75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvè ...Read More »

2005 Domaine De La Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Back In Stock!
2005 Domaine De La Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The most masculine and structured of the group, the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape is locked and loaded, with serious concentration, big tannin and no shortage of length on the finish. Coming from a year that featured a cool summer and then scorching temps around harvest, this beauty doles out loads of creme de cassis, licorice, graphite and crushed rock-like minerality, as well as a seamless, perfectly balanced profile. Give it another 2-3 years and drink it through 2025. (JD)" (8/2014) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Showing beautifully, with intense fig, black currant and boysenberry fruit ...Read More »
