1989 Suduiraut, Sauternes (375ml) Top Pick!
1989 Suduiraut, Sauternes (375ml)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Exotically perfumed violet and rose petals burst on your palate, accompanied by dried apricot, lemon and honey flavors. Gorgeous and subtle, glowing on the finish." (4/1995) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from the Château reserves at the estate. The ’89 is a little lighter in hue compared to the Suduiraut ’90. The nose offers caramelized pear, frangipane, yellow flowers and a touch of quince, moderate vigour at first, but opening nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of bitter orange rind on the entry, marmalade, quince and a mandarin and dried apricot o ...Read More »

2005 Guiraud, Sauternes (375ml)

97 points James Suckling: "This appears to be the synthesis of the fabulous 2001 and 2003. It shows wonderful aromas of botrytis spice, honey and citrus rind. Lots of fruit with a tropical fruit undertone of mango and papaya on the palate. Intense finish." (7/2013) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Delivers lots of botrytis spice, with lemon tart and cooked apple. Full-bodied, with loads of cream and vanilla and an intense tropical fruit and honey aftertaste. Long and viscous, with a layered and beautiful spicy finish. Hard not to drink it now. Best after 2014. *Highly Recommended and #4 of Top 100 Wines of 2008* ( ...Read More »

2016 l'Avocat Blanc, Graves

L'Avocat is in the small commune of Cerons, which is located just north of Barsac and Sauternes in the southern Graves appellation. The vineyards were purchased by Nicola and Sean Allison in 2002; the fruit was previously sold to Mouton Rothschild. At 300 feet above the Garrone River, the vineyards have stunning views of the lovely Côtes de Bordeaux. The vineyard's elevation is a key factor in its great drainage, and the soil is loaded with different color gravel that imparts textbook minerality to both their whites and reds.

2016 Clos Floridène, Graves Blanc

92 points Vinous: "The 2016 Clos Floridène Blanc is a huge overachiever. Green apple, pear and jasmine are some of the many nuances laced into this silky, beautifully textured white. Even though it has just been bottled, the 2016 is super impressive. Today, the 2016 stands out for its brightness and overall energy. (AG)" (2/2018) 89-92 points Wine Spectator: "Taut, with pink grapefruit zest, white peach and verbena notes backed by a steely hint on the finish. Gorgeous. (JM, Web-2011)" 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow-gold. Superripe but precise aromas of mirabelle, white nectarine and honey. Supersweet, deep and powerful, with a fat, honeyed character and terrific spicy persistence. A big boy but with lovely balance. (ST)" (7/2008)

2015 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

99-100 points James Suckling: "This is an incredible young Yquem that is so vinous like a great vintage of Montrachet but then on the palate it turns to Yquem with spice, dried fruit and mushroom as well as sweet fruit. Last for minutes. Acidity is all there giving it a dynamic vibrance that jolts your senses. Special wine. It has a little more than than 140 grams of residual sugar, less than the legendary of 2001. But is very close in greatness. Let’s wait and see." This promises to be a rich, concentrated wine as it matures. (RV)" (4/2018) 93 points Decanter: "Rich and round with clear new oak markings, but well handled. 2013 Aleph Semillon Mendoza (Previously $24)

San Francisco resident Roberto Rodriguez Canal is the mind behind Aleph, a winery whose wines we have truly enjoyed carrying over the past several years. According to Roberto: "We do not produce wine to please mass demand. Our wines are not over extracted and definitely not over oaked, we produce limited quantity of wine with its own character." Aleph Semillon uses fruit from a 70 year old vineyard in Lujan de Cuyo. On the palate, this shows nicely dry, but with a citric, waxy yellow fruited quality. 95-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I was able to taste the 2017 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc on three separate occasions and it never failed to impress. It should match, if not exceed, the 2015. Gorgeous notes of lemon curd, mint, citrus, white peach, and salty minerality all emerge from this medium to full-bodied white. It doesn’t have the sheer scale or sexiness of a sunnier year, yet its purity is off the charts, it has riveting acidity, and a great, great finish. Made from close to equal amounts of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, with 10% Sauvignon Gris, from a 7.2-hectare section of the Pessac Vineyard, it offers a perfumed bouquet of l ...Read More »

2013 d'Yquem, Sauternes

98 points James Suckling: "Bright aromas of sliced mangoes, papaya, botrytis, and lemon follow through to a full body. Medium sweet with a phenolic palate that gives the wine structure and beauty. Electric acidity and freshness combined with impressive energy and length. A strict selection was made. 40% of the production was destined to the grand vin." (2/2016) 96-98 points Wine Enthusiast: "The beautifully aromatic, honeyed scent leads into flavors of bitter orange and honey, along with extreme freshness. Notes of white peach and Rocha pear give richness to a wine that is not huge, but wonderfully balanced. (RV) ...Read More »

2014 Rieussec, Sauternes (375ml)

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Rieussec 2014 is a blend of 93% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle, picked from 15 to 29 October through seven tries, the yield half the normal crop at 13 hectoliters per hectare. Charles Chevalier, how lest we forget started here and not chez Lafite, told me that the beginning of September had overripe grapes with passerillage – the second part had very good levels of botrytis. The blend is from these two parts. The bouquet is very well defined with crystal clear honeysuckle and white peach scents. The palate is beautifully balan ...Read More »

2017 Suduiraut, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

95-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "One of the finest Sauternes I was able to taste for this report was the 2017 Château Suduiraut, from an estate that was unaffected by the April frost. A rockstar blend of 94% Sémillon and 6% Sauvignon, aged in 50% new oak, it boasts a big, thrilling bouquet of orange blossom, honeysuckle, and pure botrytis-laced fruit. Seamless, incredibly polished and balanced on the palate, it has serious sweetness, yet just glides across the palate and is remarkably elegant." (4/2018) 94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Very concentrated, this is a great wine with rich intensity and balancing acidity. Hon ...Read More »

2005 Doisy-Védrines, Sauternes (375ml)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Intense aromas of honey, dried pineapple and botrytis spice. Full-bodied, very sweet and very powerful, with loads of dried fruit and sweetness on the finish. Lots of clove and orange peel. Same quality as the 2001. Best after 2013." (3/2008) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "Scents of blood orange hint at the acidity that drives this wine; it moderates the proportions of the broad, rich flavor and finishes clean. The scent of pure, fresh honey lasts. For the cellar." (10/2008) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, pale yellow-gold. Peach and vanillin oak dominate the nose. Quite sweet and fruit-driven in the mouth, with ...Read More »

2013 Latour-Martillac Blanc, Pessac-Léognan

92-94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. Complex and rich, this wine is fully textured, with ripe fruit flavors and balanced acidity. There is a touch of ginger, giving the wine extra complexity." 89-92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright straw yellow. Sauvignon-dominated aromas of white flowers, grapefruit and sage. Then slightly austere in the mouth, with grapefruit and sage flavors lifted by lively acidity and complicated by a strong wet stone quality. Finishes saline and long, with bracing acidity. This should age extremely well, and I think it will need at least eight to ten from the vintage to show its bes ...Read More »

2016 Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

98-99 points James Suckling: "This is really crazy. The layers of fruit to this and the sheer intensity are really superb. Full-bodied and very sweet yet energetic and focused. Dense and tight. Tasted it and said OMG right away!" (4/2017) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a perfumed, minerally bouquet that is taut and focused, beautifully defined and very precise. The palate is very well balanced with peach, nectarine and honey on the entry. This is a complex Sauternes, armed with superb acidity and bite, leading to a persistent finish that offers a dab of peaches and cream on th ...Read More »

2016 Tyrrell's Semillon Hunter Valley New South Wales

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Semillon is a fresh, fruit-forward example of the genre. Green apple and lime juice notes dominate, while hints of crushed stone provide a pleasantly silky texture and extend through the long, mouthwatering finish. (JC)" (12/2017)
