2012 Sarno 1860 Fiano di Avellino

90 points James Suckling: "A balanced, attractive Fiano with sliced limes, minerals and almonds. Full-bodied, fruity and delicious. A new producer for me. Try it. Drink now." (3/2015) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The pretty 2012 Fiano di Avellino represents the single wine made by Tenuta Sarno 1860. This is a fresh and clean expression of the grape with bright notes of citrus, peach, pear, white flower and honey. Sur lie aging gives the wine good tension and density in the mouth. It wraps smoothly over the palate with layers of yellow fruit and crushed mineral. Mauro and Adele Sarno run the boutique Tenuta Sarn ...Read More »

2014 Marisa Cuomo "Ravello" Costa d'Amalfi Bianco

91 points Vinous: "Green-tinged yellow; less gold in color than the Furore Bianco. Apple, sage and flowers on the bright nose are complicated by a note of liquid slate. The flavors of apple, pear and mint are similarly joined by mineral nuances. Finishes broad, smooth and persistent. I find this much fresher and more precise than the Furore Bianco." 2011 Galardi "Terra di Lavoro" Roccamonfina

97 points James Suckling: "Complex aromas of blackberry, stones, cracked black pepper and tar. Full body with soft, round tannins and a juicy, fruity finish. Soulful and refined from this estate. This is a magical wine from Southern Italy." (2/2014) 92 points Wine Spectator: "There's drive to this well-meshed, sanguine red, offering flavors of herbs, dried currant, iron and black olive that are deftly layered with sinewy tannins and balancing acidity. Drink now through 2021." (4/2014) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(a blend of aglianico and piedirosso): Good full ruby. Ripe red cherry, dark plum, licorice, coffee and spicy oak on the nose. S ...Read More »

2013 Marisa Cuomo "Furore Bianco Fiorduva" Costa d'Amalfi

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Costa d'Amalfi Furore Bianco is a blend of 60% Falanghina and 40% Biancolella. Vines are planted in near vertical fashion on a sea facing cliff and range in altitude from 100 meters above sea level to an impressive 750 meters. That's a steep drop. The wine shows beautiful marine and saline tones of sea salt and oyster shell. It also offers white flowers, peach and honeydew melon. Its appearance is luminous and bright. The finish is long and silky." (4/2015) Jancis Robinson: "Candied lemon, garden herbs and lime, inviting and pretty and fresh. The palate is quite fu ...Read More »

2014 Cenatiempo Ischia Bianco Superiore

90 points Vinous: "Pale gold-tinged straw-yellow. Peach, apricot and yellow apple aromas and flavors are complicated by a delicate note of fresh herbs. Rich and savory, but with lively acidity adding freshness and lift. Finishes crisp, chewy and long. This is not the first time that I've been extremely impressed by what is essentially Cenatiempo’s entry-level wine, a steal at the price. (ID)" (9/2015)

2013 De Conciliis "Donnaluna" Aglianico Paestum

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Paestum Aglianico Donnaluna is an easy-going wine with earthy aromas of crushed mineral and wet terra-cotta. The bouquet shows wild and untamed layers of red fruit, forest floor, pressed rose and cola. Donnaluna delivers a medium dark color and consistency with sweet cherry flavors on the close. The tannins are solid but round and there's a good dose of freshness on the close. (ML)" (4/2015)

2014 La Sibilla Falanghina Campi Flegrei

Praise from Ian D'Agata: "The third and fourth generations of the Di Meo family are propelling this estate into the stratosphere of Italian wine production. Along with wines from Mustilli and Contrada Salandra, there are no better Falanghina bottlings made anywhere than these. Following a stint with world-famous consulting enologist Roberto Cipresso, Vincenzo Di Meo is the winemaker here. The estate vineyards are situated in the particularly sandy Campi Flegrei production zone, which seems especially well suited to Falanghina, of which there are at least... Read More »

2014 Terre del Principe Roseto del Volturno

A blend of black Pallagrello and Casavecchia grapes. Notes from the winery: "The wine is a beautiful bright pink color, with delicate scents with notes ranging from floral eglantine roses with hints of cherry and sour black cherry. Its flavor is characterized by a remarkable freshness supported by good acidity that nicely extends the persistence."

2014 La Sibilla Campi Flegrei Piedirosso

91 points Vinous: "Dark bright red. Piedirosso-typical herbaceous notes greet the nose, but aeration brings bright strawberry and red cherry aromas too. Clean and fresh in the mouth, with juicy, precise strawberry and raspberry flavors that build and linger long on the suave aftertaste. A benchmark Piedirosso wine. (ID)" (9/2015)

2014 San Francesco "Tramonti Bianco" Costa d'Amalfi

Vinous: "Golden yellow color. Honeyed white peach and pear aromas are complemented by chamomile on the fresh nose. Bright, savory flavors of stone and fresh citrus fruits are juicy and clean if a bit simple. The moderately long finish shows lovely floral lift. Only 12.5% alcohol. (ID)" (9/2015)

2014 Ciro Picariello Greco di Tufo

Ciro Picariello is a producer of outstanding white wines from Campania. While his emphasis is on Fiano, "a few years ago he started making Greco from a rented vineyard, a vineyard that he is now intending to buy," writes importer Oliver McCrum. "The soil is a sandy clay of volcanic origin called tuff, or 'tufo' in Italian (but the name of the appellation refers not to the soil, but to the village of Tufo, which is not far from Avellino). Picariello's Greco is made similarly to his Fiano...Ciro tells me that Greco can age like Fiano; given that he started... Read More »

2014 Casa d'Ambra "Frassitelli" Ischia Biancolella (Elsewhere $30)

91 points Vinous: "Bright, pale straw-yellow. Complex, mineral-driven aromas of orchard fruit, chamomile and anise. Bright, fresh and juicy, showing sneaky concentration and noteworthy floral lift to the orchard fruit and mineral flavors. Finishes long and delicately savory, with a strong mineral overlay. One of the best young Frassitellis I can recall. Incidentally, the name Frassitelli refers to one of the world’s most beautiful vineyards, located at roughly 600 meters above sea level and offering a spectacular view of Capri and Procida. The top portion of the vineyard i ...Read More »

2013 Pietracupa Greco di Tufo

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Greco di Tufo shows beautiful luminosity and pretty tones of citrus, peach and pear. Fruit is sourced from the Santa Paolina and Prata areas with clay and limestone soils. Harvest ends the first week of October. This is a tonic and balanced effort with impressive fruit brightness and simple, clean lines. It needs another three or four years to flesh out further." (4/2015) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright straw-yellow. Clean aromas of yellow apple, pear, lime and white pepper. Vibrant, juicy citrus and stone fruit flavors are complicated by salty minerality, with the saline ...Read More »

2003 Feudi di San Gregorio "Serpico" Irpinia

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 is a fascinating Serpico. The wine boasts impressive concentration in its dark, rich fruit. This is an incredibly primary Serpico, with little in the way of tertiary development. Ideally, it is best left alone for another few years, but readers fortunate enough to own this are in for a thrilling ride once the wine opens up a bit. Today it remains tightly coiled but full of potential. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. (AG)" (8/2010) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "A beautiful wine: sweet cherry and berry fruit nuances are woven within threads of vanilla, toast and ash. Despite the ...Read More »

2001 Feudi di San Gregorio "Serpico" Irpinia

94 points Wine Spectator: "Bold and structured red. Dark color; black licorice, raspberry and mineral character and hints of dried flowers; full-bodied, with spicy fruit and undertones of black pepper. Chewy finish. This is fantastic. (JS)" (2/2004) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Serpico is another wine that appears to need more bottle age. Today it is in an in-between stage where the fruit is no longer primary but the tertiary notes aren’t fully developed either. The 2001 is a powerful Serpico with impressive tannic clout that will require further cellaring to soften. With time, hints of wild cherries, ...Read More »

Wine Enthusiast: "Here’s a unique blend of two of Campania’s little known grapes, Casavecchia and Pallagrello Nero. It opens with a pretty fragrance of blue flower, ripe berries and spice. The soft, round palate offers red berry and fleshy blackberry accented by cinnamon-toast notes. Drink soon." (9/2014)

2010 Contrade di Taurasi, Taurasi

91 points Vinous: "Deep ruby. Spicy aromas of red berries, minerals and cocoa. Bright, fresh and suave, with precise flavors of red cherry and tobacco complicated by licorice and sweet spices. The finish is bright, juicy and long but increasingly austere. Another outstanding wine from the Lonardo family. 91+? (ID)" (9/2015)
