2007 Turley "Tofanelli" Napa Valley Charbono

88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Charbono Tofanelli Vineyard reveals gamy, meaty, earthy characteristics intermixed with sweet red and black fruits. Although not complex, it is a delicious, savory, bistro-styled red for drinking over the next several years. As always, a mind-boggling array of Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs has been produced by the world’s premier Zinfandel specialist, Larry Turley. He deserves remarkable credit for his 'holy grail' quest to locate largely forgotten parcels of old Zinfandel vines, and preserve as many of these historic sites as possible." 2001 Turley "Tofanelli" Napa Valley Charbono

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Charbono Tofanelli Vineyard exhibits a dense saturated ruby/purple color as well as a chunky, one-dimensional, solid, muscular personality with no hard edges. Copious quantities of red as well as black fruits, earth, and spice are offered in a medium-bodied, concentrated format." (12/2003)

2002 Turley "Tofanelli" Napa Valley Charbono

90-92 points Robert Parker: "The 2002 Charbono Tofanelli Vineyard boasts an extravagantly fruity nose revealing distinctive blueberry scents intermixed with new saddle leather, licorice, and compost. Dense, medium to full-bodied, and fun to drink, it should age nicely for 7-8 years." (12/03)

2000 Turley "Tofanelli Vineyard" Napa Valley Charbono

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The medium-bodied 2000 Charbono Tofanelli Vineyard (sadly, only 250 cases produced) reveals a meaty, earthy, damp forest, and black cherry-scented perfume. As the wine sits in the glass, a floral (acacia?) note emerges. It should drink well for 10-15 years. It is a curiosity, although a wonderful one." (8/2002) K&L Notes: One of the most important Zinfandel producers in California, this Charbono is a rare bottling from Turley Wine Cellars.

2003 Turley "Tofanelli" Napa Valley Charbono

88-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Turley’s 2003 Charbono exhibits a deep ruby/purple color as well as a distinctive nose of new saddle leather, blueberries, and compost. Some chalky tannins in the finish need to be resolved if this wine is going to merit a 90-point score." (2/2005) K&L Notes: Turley Wine Cellars makes thirty-four wines, the vast majority of which are single vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture. All of the vineyards are either certified organic by... Read More »

1998 Turley "Tofanelli" Napa Valley Charbono

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1998 Charbono Tofanelli Vineyard continues the great success they have had with this lowly esteemed varietal. Dark ruby/purple-colored, with an earthy, spicy, gorgeously pure nose, this wine offers blueberry and blackberry flavors as well as copious quantities of earthy richness, and a spicy, long, full-bodied, powerful finish. It should drink well for 10-15 years. There are only 200 cases of this wine that came in at a "modest" 14.8% alcohol." (1/2000)
