Lustau Dry Amontillado "Los Arcos" Solera Reserva

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The non-vintage Dry Amontillado Los Arcos Solera Reserva reveals a medium amber hue along with a nutty, honeyed, dry personality with great acid... The portfolio of under $25 a bottle selections represents remarkable value for their complex, well-made personalities. Lustau includes a bottling date code as purchasers would want to buy Finos and Manzanillas as young as possible. It is difficult to describe the glories of sherry, but I’ll try. These Solera Reservas are all great reference points at a low price point from Lustau. (RP)" (8/2012) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Walnut, halva, ...Read More »

Tio Pepe (Gonzalez Byass) Fino Sherry

Jancis Robinson: "Salt, fresh green apple, iodine and mushroom with a winning creamy texture and lovely clarity. Excellent, as usual. (RH)" (11/2014) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Talking about which, the NV Tio Pepe Fino is an icon of Sherry wine. Produced from Palomino grapes aged in the Tio Pepe solera for an average of four years under flor. It has a light nose of dried flowers, almonds and olives, in a subtle way and a dry palate dominated by the chalky notes. Light and easy to drink, it is a good introduction to Fino Sherry. 2012 Santalba Cotas Altas Rioja

Produced from higher elevation Tempranilo and Garnacha, this lovely Rioja is just 12% ABV. It tastes as light and fresh as you would expect from a red wine clocking in at barely 12%. Think Bourgone rouge here, transported to Northern Spain. Lovely fruit and floral notes prevail in this delightful Rioja.

Bodegas Yuste "Aurora" Amontillado Sanlucar de Barrameda 500ml

From a solera begun in 1991, this spectacular Sanluqueño Amontillado contains wine of an average age of 15-20 years old. Blended in, there is a tiny amount of very old wine discovered in the bodega shortly after its purchase. It had been sealed in plaster, as the former owner was apparently determined to keep this pre-phylloxera wine, unblended, all to himself! Aromatics reveal salty flor, followed by toffee. The wine is racy on the palate, until it turns rich and succulent, with buttered and roasted pecan and almond flavors. This is really quite good. (... Read More »

Alvear "1927" Pedro Ximenez Solera Montilla-Moriles (375ml)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Pedro Ximenez Solera 1927 is non-vintage, but does have some 1927 material in it. This is totally dark brown/amber with notes of figs, toffee, caramel syrup, molasses and coffee. It is dense, super sweet, intense, rich and an amazingly, unctuously textured, thick beverage to consume slowly and introspectively after a meal. Drink now through 2050, or even longer. (RP)" (11/2015) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Top 100 Wines of 2012, Editors' Choice* A rank well above most PX sweeties, with lush but fresh aromas of raisin and spice that are distinctly not syrupy or heavy. Valdespino "Inocente" Fino Jerez

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Fino Inocente must be one of the few wines in Jerez that is still fermented in 600-liter American oak botas, which is an incredible amount of work compared with fermenting tens of thousands of kilos of grapes (or even more) in a big stainless steel tank. This method was the norm of yesteryear, but is so labor intense that it was discontinued in most wineries, and gives a big diversity of wines, as each barrel has its own character, which contributes to the complexity of the blend. Furthermore, the bottled wine is on average 8 to 10 years old. One ...Read More »

Bodegas Yuste "Aurora" Manzanilla Sanlucar de Barrameda 500ml

An incredible 8-10 year average age Manzanilla, the Aurora is our newest Manzanilla and one of our more exciting Sanluqueño offerings in quite a while! A blend of two different soleras: one in barrio bajo which contributes umami driven savoriness and the other in barrio alto which lends a round richness, this is a Manzanilla that satisfies and clearly is punching beyond its weight class. Aromas of flor and tarragon lead to a lovely appley palate with surprising textural weight and length. A must try for fans of the inimitable dry Sherries of Sanlucar de... Read More »

Lustau "3 En Rama" Fino En Rama Jerez - Spring 2016 bottling (500ml)

This minimally filtered, en rama Fino comes from a fairly large solera in Jerez, and is characteristically the richest and fullest in body of the "3 En Rama" series. Fortunately for all of us fans of "en rama," or minimally filtered and minimally processed Sherries, Lustau bottles three excellent examples from their extensive holdings. Lustau Almacenista Oloroso "Pata de Gallina" (500ml)

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Juan García Jarana, the motorcycle magnate of Jerez, sells a portion of his soleras to Lustau for this delicate Oloroso. It starts with notes of candied almonds, coconut palm syrup and caramel. The hint of salinity lends complexity and freshness, without diminishing that delicate, pleasing sweetness." (6/2009) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Just add this oloroso to the growing list of excellent Sherries from Lustau. Valdespino "Tio Diego" Amontillado Jerez

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Extremely dry, this austere Amontillado comes from the white chalky albariza soils of the famed Macharnudo vineyard. It aged under flor for about eight years, and then spent eight more years aging oxidatively before being bottled. At first, it shows only the classic flavors of iodine and salt, with enchanting sea breeze notes. You have to wait for the fruit flavors to emerge, notes of roasted white fruit and nuts emerging in the midst of its cool flavors. Only for fans of super-dry Sherry, this is ideal for mojama, cured tuna belly." (10/2015) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Tio D ...Read More »

Gutierrez Colosia Fino El Puerto de Santa María

Wine Spectator: "Light, offering crisp, bitter citrus and blanched almond notes, with a hint of tarragon. Refreshing finish. (Web Only—2013)" K&L Notes: This is one of the best, freshest, most representative lighter-style finos around. Gutierrez Colosia enjoys a prime location in El Puerto de Santa Maria, which, due to the confluence of the Atlantic and Guadalete River, allows for the development of a healthy layer of flor year-round to protect their soleras and contribute the tell tale salty, slightly almondy notes to the wine. La Cigarrera Manzanilla Sanlucar de Barrameda (375ml)

Wine Spectator: "Shows a light piney hint before bright chamomile and honeysuckle aromas fill in. Rather nervy through the palate, featuring a finish of green almond and fennel notes. (Web-2014)" K&L Notes: A wonderful expression of Manzanilla, the La Cigarrera always comes to us very fresh, expressing the briny, sea air quality for which these wines are known. It is bone dry, appley and has suggestions of loquat fruit and pits, with terrific complexity, no doubt due to the bodega's prime location in the "barrio bajo" section of Sanlucar, as well as its use of an amazing eight criade... Give it time in the glass and spicy scents emerge, along with an intriguing fruitiness." (10/2013) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The non-vintage Fino offers up aromas and flavors of sea salt and roasted nuts. It is excellent as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to sushi. (JM)" (2/2007) Jancis Robinson: "Quite subtle and light. Delicate but not thin - tangy and bright, in fact." Sweet and opulent, this is creamy and rich in all its aspects." (10/2015) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "With piercing aromas of raisin pudding, molasses and spice, this rolls out the welcome mat and more. It takes on surprising force with air, a sense of limestone in scent and flavor that propels the wine toward something rich, like grilled sea bass." 92 points Wine & Spirits: "This is a selection from botas of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez raised separately and then blended to age for three years in solera. The result puts the sweetness of the PX in front, with flavors of plum jam and tobacco. The salinity of the Oloroso brings freshness and fine minerality that play softly in the background." (6/2011) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This traditional wine from Lustau is made in the Cream style. It’s dark and pretty, with PX-ish prune and caramel aromas. (6/2011) K&L Notes: What a terrific Amontillado! Gently toasted nut and candied citrus aromas lead to a subtle, elegant, nutty palate. Originally, it was aged in Calle Ponce in the city of Jerez; hence the initials still printed on the label. During aging, the wine is refreshed with Fino Inocente and Amontillado Tío Diego, two other top bottlings in Valdespino’s portfolio. (10/2013) K&L Notes: While Gutierrez Colosia boasts wonderfully fresh El Puerto finos, a product of the fresh climate and consistent humidity afforded the town by the Atlantic and Guadalete River, their most famous wines might be their Olorosos, which are so light on their feet and deliciously saline that many have been known to mistake them for Amontill... Apparently, this solera was begun in the early 1800's, and has been untouched, not at all topped off, for the past 40 years. The wine is accordingly intense, incredibly high in acid, and concentrated. Wine Enthusiast: "*Best Buy* Seductive caramel, toffee and hazelnut aromas lead to an equally nutty palate that features maple and more toffee. Not the most complex Sherry going; it’s more forward and easy to grasp, so novices should enjoy the sweet and salty mix and the marathon-length finish. (MS)" (8/2005)

Equipo Navazos La Bota de Fino "Macharnudo #54" Jerez

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Superb within its class, the NV La Bota de Fino Macharnudo Alto is sourced from the Inocente solera from Valdespino, a barrel-fermented, 10 year under flor Fino from the Macharnudo Alto vineyard, one of the most famous in Jerez, bottled unfiltered from a selection of butts from the Inocente solera of Valdespino, a Fino averaging 10 years of age under flor when bottled, with a strong flor character. It has a powerful nose of esparto grass, dried herbs, iodine, brine and almonds. The palate is medium to full-bodied with great power and concentration. This ...Read More »

Barbiana Manzanilla Pasada Sanlucar de Barrameda (375ml)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Barbiana Manzanilla Pasada, also from Palomino grapes from the Miraflores vineyard, is a 30,000-bottle selection with a nose of salty sunflower seeds, a strong Manzanilla character and an intense palate, long, with subtle saline flavors and a very dry finish. I cannot see the pasada character here (it’s what it said on the label), but it is a superb Manzanilla. Drink 2013-2014. (LG)" (8/2013) K&L Notes: The Barbiana Manzanilla Pasada comes from a solera from Rodriguez La-Cave, purchased in 1978. The Rodriguez La-Cave bodega was located in the barrio alto whe... Urium Oloroso VORS Jerez (500ml) (Previously $60)

According to the wienry: "Over 30 years of oxidative aging in American oak barrels give Oloroso Urium its intensely dark amber colour. Its powerful aroma is reminiscent of nuts, walnuts, golden tobacco and truffles. It has a rounded flavour with good body and an elegant fine wood finish. This is a well-structured and elegant wine. Oloroso Urium is ideal for red meats and game, particularly the gelatinous types, such as oxtail and pork cheek. It matches perfectly with nuts, ham, mushrooms and mature cheeses."

Bodegas Tradición Fino Viejo Jerez

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tradición keeps releasing unfiltered, 3,000-bottle lots of a very old (average 10 years under 'flor') Fino from their 'soleras'. I've drunk this wine quite frequently over the past 18 months and it's going from strength to strength. The nose is full of aromas; chalk, hay and straw, esparto grass, brine, very strong green olives and sea breeze. The palate is medium to full-bodied and unctuous reflecting a wine that has consumed the glycerin by the effect of the flor and then gained volume from the dead yeasts. This is a serious, powerful, concentrated Fin ...Read More »
