2004 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne (97VN, 96JS, 96W&S, 95RP, 95WS, 94ST). Vinous: "A Champagne of crystalline precision, the 2004 Dom Pérignon once again shows off its pedigree and total class. Everything about the 2004 speaks to nuance. The flavors are bright and lifted throughout, but it is the wine's lithe, gracious shape that stands out most. Pear, slate, white flowers, sage and crushed rocks abound in a Dom Pérignon built on cool, brisk energy. Today, the 2004 is simply dazzling, with plenty of upside for the future. (AG)" (10/2015)

2013 Diamond Creek "Volcanic Hill" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Diamond Creek "Volcanic Hill" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96JS, 95CG, 93WE). James Suckling: "Lots of blackberries, plums and cherries on the nose. Full body, ultra-velvety tannins and a long, long finish. A broad and layered red with refined textures. Very long. Juicy. Riper than the Red Rock and Gravelly Meadow. Better in 2019. 608 cases made." (05/2016)

2013 Diamond Creek "Red Rock Terrace" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Diamond Creek "Red Rock Terrace" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 97JS, 94CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace comes from seven acres of the 20-acre vineyard (whereas the Gravelly Meadow emerges from five acres). The terroir is iron-rich, red, rocky soil in contrast to the light, gravelly, ashy soils of the Gravelly Meadow. Super-intense, rich, more backward and powerful than the Gravelly Meadow, this dense purple wine offers up notes of beef blood, crème de cassis, blackberry, licorice and earth. Full-bodied, powerful and incredibly well-balanced, this is wine for 25-30 or more years of aging. In fact, don’t plan on drinking a bottle for at least another 5-8 years. (RP)" (12/2016)

2010 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino (98RP, 95WS, 94VN, 93JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is a striking wine that shows uncompromising varietal pureness, albeit in a most concentrated and elaborate form. This is what great Sangiovese is all about. There's so much happening on the nose and the wine brings you to cherry, spice, licorice, cured meat, pressed rose and grilled meat in equal measure. No one element overpowers the next. The mouthfeel is also tight and bright with the kind of fruit intensity that promises long cellar aging. This Brunello is only at the beginning of a long road ahead. The longer the wine stays in the glass, the more it offers in terms of complexity and intensity. This is a true standout that can be enjoyed for up to 20 years ahead.Fabrizio Bindocci and his son Alessandro are the most accomplished father-son winemaking team I can think of today in Italy. Il Poggione is owned by Leopoldo and Livi

2012 Caymus "40th Anniversary" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Caymus "40th Anniversary" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "They appear to be immune to some of winedom’s less than intelligent trends and fads that we see from time to time, and the result is a spectacular 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon 40th Anniversary offering. Its dense purple/black color is followed by copious quantities of crème de cassis and blackberry fruit, silky tannins, a voluptuous texture and stunning purity as well as length. This full-bodied effort is a fabulous example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a tribute to this amazing family. It is so good now, why wait? However, I’m sure that like most vintages of Caymus, it will last for 20-25 years. Amazing! (RP)" (10/2014)

Wine Spectator: "Juicy, fleshy and showy, with warm plum sauce, melted black licorice, espresso, cocoa powder and black currant confiture notes all melded together, yet clearly defined. The smoldering, tobacco-fueled finish expands steadily with air. A wine of power and range that is just hitting its stride. (JM, Web-2014)"

1989 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (96WS, 95RP, 95ST, 94JS). Wine Spectator: "Delivers so much blackberry, leather and dried fruits on the nose. Full-bodied, with ultrapolished tannins and a silky mouthfeel. The palate turns to leaves, cedar and dried berries on the finish, which goes on and on. This is still reserved for the vintage, suggesting a long life ahead. Just coming around now, but will improve many years ahead. I have always loved this Lynch. (JS, Web-2010)"

Wine Spectator: " *Ranked #2, Top 100 Wines of 2008* Very beautiful aromas of crushed berry, flowers, currant and Indian spices follow through to a full body, with ultrafine tannins and a long, long finish. Extremely polished and beautiful, with a seamless texture. (JS)" (03/2008)

Of the 2013 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon, CCS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "There is something ethereal about the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon CCS, a wine that I tend to give more perfect scores to than of the other Schrader offerings. This is clone 4 from a special block of the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, and it always seems to have these incredible, explosive aromatics ranging from blueberry to blackberry to cassis to spring flowers and lead pencil shavings. It’s always one of the more seductive wines early on, with sweet, velvety

2013 Aubert "Ritchie Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Aubert "Ritchie Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (97VN, 96RP, 93WS). Vinous: "The 2013 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard is translucent and weightless, yet also magnificent in its depth. Graphite, slate, smoke, incense, lemon and white peach emerge from the glass, but only with great reluctance. The Ritchie is the most reticent wine in this range, but it is in many ways the most intriguing. Intensely mineral and nuanced, the 2013 Ritchie will thrill those lucky enough to own it for another decade-plus. I can't wait to see how this develops in bottle. The 2013 was done in 100% new oak, yet there is virtually no trace of oak at all. (AG)" (01/2015)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Caymus "40th Anniversary" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1L) (96RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I am old enough to remember Chuck Wagner and his father, who I first met at Caymus in the late seventies. This is clearly one of Napa Valley’s iconic wineries, as well as one that, amazingly, never went through a bad patch. Obviously, no matter which generation is in the driver’s seat (or should I say tractor’s seat), Caymus Vineyard knows how to deliver flavor and deliciousness. (RP)" (10/2014)

1977 Graham's Vintage Port
Bid on this bottle of 1977 Graham's Vintage Port (93RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Graham is another great port house, producing one of the deepest-colored and sweetest styles of vintage port. Along with Taylor and Fonseca, Graham has probably been the most consistent producer of great port in the post- World War II era. Their tawnys are quite good rather than exceptional, but their vintage ports are truly sublime and sumptuous. (RP)" (01/1989)

2005 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (97RP, 96WS, 95ST, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Possibly the youngest wine of all the 2005 Médocs in terms of its evolution, at age 10 the inky purple 2005 Pontet-Canet tastes more like a two-year-old wine. Loads of pure blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit are present along with a hint of licorice and background oak. It is full-bodied, ripe, and excruciatingly fresh, vigorous and exuberant. This is a tour de force, and a sensational effort that rivals the first growths. Give it another 5-10 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 30-40 years. 97+ points." (06/2015)

2014 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2014 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (91CG, 90VN, 90WS). Connoisseurs Guide: "Deep, dense and brimming with dark fruit and liberally appointed with very rich oak, this generous, close-to-plush look at the grape offers a broad and compelling range of aromas and flavors that range from pulpy black cherries to créme brûlée, cola and root beer. It is full and somewhat supple with neatly placed tannins providing a nice bit of grip now as well as the framework for age, and, given the wine's obvious depth and careful structure, it is reasonable to expect it will evolve and gain in grace for a good half-decade or more." Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 95WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The best bottle of this I've had (and I've had plenty), Usseglio's 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul is a blockbuster and one of the true stars of this vintage. Almost all Grenache (there's a small part of Syrah and Cinsault) that was harvest between September 1-13, partially destemmed and aged in both tank and foudre, this massive, voluptuous effort is almost overflowing with notes of ground herbs, chocolate dusted meats, black fruits and licorice. Showing none of the negative traits of the vintage, with beautiful purity and freshness, sweet tannin, and a great finish...(JD)" (09/2015)

1989 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (98JS, 96WS, 90RP). James Suckling: "Freshly picked blackberries turn into minty dark chocolate and oozing caramel with domineering eucalyptus on the nose. It becomes yet more complex on the palate thanks to layers upon layers of spices and sage plus fat and rounded tannins. There's a long finish with a bitter aftertaste, suggesting this could do with another 10 years or more of bottle aging. This is a Mouton I found massive at the time, then elegant and slightly austere years later, but today true to its former glory. Like the amazing 1947, it should not be forgotten." (06/2016)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Rudd "Crossroads" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Crossroads performed much better this year than it did last year. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, it is still unevolved with a primary character, but it does reveal attractive blueberry and cassis fruit interwoven with notions of incense, camphor, and licorice. As the wine sits in the glass, a graphite scent also emerges. (RP)" (12/2009)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1970 Latour, Pauillac (96RP, 94JS, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at dinner at Domaine de Chevalier. The Latour ’70 can be such a variable beast. This is certainly one of the better, more representative bottles. Deep garnet in colour, nice limpidity in the glass. It has a beautiful nose that to be honest, sweeps aside the respectable Domaine de Chevalier ’70 poured alongside, like a lord dismissing his servant with a swish of his hand. Graphite, wild black fruit, freshly rolled tobacco and a faint hint of truffle. The palate is medium-bodied and after forty years, still quite austere but the balance is nailed ... (NM)" (11/2010)

1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (100JS, 100RP, 98ST, 98WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine remains one of the legends of Bordeaux. It has thrown off the backward, youthful style that existed during its first 25 years of life, and over the last 4-5 years has developed such secondary nuances as cedar and spice box. The creme de cassis, underlying floral note, full-bodied power, extraordinary purity, multilayered texture, and finish of over a minute are a showcase for what this Chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still amazingly youthful, vibrant, and pure. It appears capable of remaining fruity and vibrant in 2082! Thank God it is beginning to budge, as I would like to drink most of my supply before I kick the bucket. This is a great, still youthful wine, and, on occasion, one does understand the hierarchy of Bordeaux chateaux when you see the complexity and brilliance of this first-growth. (RP)" (06/2009)

I especially like the way the 2011 is at once unbelievably rich, but not at all heavy. Yellow stone fruit, light floral honey, nectarine and almonds inform the rich, oily finish. Not quite as rich or dense as the 2010, or as structured and chewy as the 2009, the evolved, seductive 2011 should provide enormous pleasure over the next 10-12 years. (RP)" (12/2013)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (100RP, 98JS, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. Of the 2002 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K The Straw Man" Edna Valley Semillon (375ml),Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The virtually perfect 2002 Mr. K. The Straw Man boasts astounding statistics. Aged 30 months in barrel, with only 7.2% alcohol, it carries 482 grams per liter of residual sugar (half the wine), and 7.8 grams per liter of acidity. It is simply off the charts. Sexy, eye-popping, palate-staining stuff, it is like liquefied honey with extraordinary complexity, aromatics yet freshness and delineation. I simply do not understand how this wine was made given the technical numbers and its amazing sugar. It is neither heavy nor cloying, and is a remarkable tour de force created by t

2013 Cayuse "God Only Knows" Walla Walla Valley Grenache
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Cayuse "God Only Knows" Walla Walla Valley Grenache (94RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Grenache seemed to handle the heat nicely in 2013 and the 2013 Grenache God Only Knows Armada Vineyard offers a gorgeous, rich, almost masculine style (especially when it’s tasted next to the No Girls Grenache) in its dark fruits, crushed herbs, mineral and leather scented profile. Even showing a touch of game with time in the glass, this beauty has fine tannin, plenty of fruit and a great finish, all suggesting it will drink nicely for another decade. Looking at these latest releases from Cayuse, the 2013s are surprisingly elegant and silky, with less overall concentration and depth than I expected after tasting them from barrel last year. They possess slightly lighter, translucent colors, moderate to good concentration and polished tannin. At times I was wishing for a touch more exuberance and texture. Nevertheless, these are silky, seamless, elegant win

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Rudius Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95WS, 89ST). Wine Spectator: "Firm and tightly wound, with excellent structure, depth, focus and concentration, but so compact now that it's unfair to uncork it. The laser beam of herb-laced currant, blackberry, mineral, pepper and black licorice are slow to unfold, but the proof is in the finish, where the flavors are presented on a beam of purity. 2013 North Wines (Alban) Edna Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 North Wines (Alban) Edna Valley Pinot Noir (96RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another sensational wine released under the North label, there are 200 cases of the 2013 Pinot Noir and, like the Chardonnay, it had just been bottled a little over a week prior to my visit. A rich, full-flavored beauty that doesn't put a foot wrong and still offers fabulous Pinot Noir typicity, it reveals a ruby translucent color to go with classic currants, forest floor, licorice and assorted earthy, underbrush aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, layered, seamless and perfectly balanced, with terrific intensity and length, it's a gorgeous effort to drink anytime over the coming decade, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it evolve longer ... Of the 2008 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Vinous writes: "Mocha, espresso, rosemary, lavender, plums and licorice emerge from the 2008 Opus One. Tasted from magnum, the 2008 is beautifully expressive. The firm tannins need more time to soften, but there is a lot to like in the 2008. Today the 2008 is showing beautifully. In magnum, the 2008 can be enjoyed today or cellared up to another 20 years or so. If opened young, the 2008 needs a few hours of air to soften. This is a wine for the next generation. Finesse and elegance, truly a wine that makes you contemplate life. This is not about power, there is really nothing like it. 93% Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the 2002 Dalla Valle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The sensational 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc from the red soils of their vineyards planted in the Oakville Corridor on the eastern hillsides overlooking the valley floor vineyards of Screaming Eagle and Rudd Estate. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by aromas and flavors reminiscent of a 4-to-5 year-old wine rather than one that has already hit a decade of age. 2000 La Conseillante, Pomerol
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 La Conseillante, Pomerol (96RP, 95WS, (90-93ST), 92JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "La Conseillante made an excellent wine in 2001, another great one in 2005, and the estate hit home runs in both 2008 and, above all, in 2009. In fact, the latter vintage may well end up being the modern-day reference point for La Conseillante. Nevertheless, there’s a lot to be said for this 2000. An elegant, gentle style that is never a blockbuster, the 2000 La Conseillante has a deep ruby/plum/purple color and an unbelievably expressive nose of sweet kirsch liqueur intermixed with raspberries, incense, toast, and licorice. Full-bodied yet ethereal in the sense that it seems to combine power along with eloquence and delicacy, this is a beautifully pure wine that has just hit its plateau of full maturity, although ideally I think it would benefit strongly from another 4-5 years of bottle age and drink well for two to three decades. 1995 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan
Bid on this bottle of 1995 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan (95RP, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " ... As in most 1995s, the color remains a healthy dark plum/purple. One of the bigger wines of the vintage, the ripe, powerful Merlot component has buttressed the Cabernet elements, giving the wine plenty of body, tannin and La Mission’s classic asphalt, cassis, blackberry, smoky barbecue, meaty notes intermixed with a hint of hot rocks. The 1995 is still a young wine and I am beginning to wonder if this vintage overall will resemble 1975 rather than something with more charm? (RP)" (08/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Peter Michael "Ma Danseuse" Fort Ross-Seaview Pinot Noir (100RP, 94JS, 93ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The compelling 2012 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse (1,480 cases) is even better than the 2013. Notes of lead pencil shavings, DRC-like forest floor, black raspberry, blackcurrant, Asian plum sauce, rose petal and sweet cherry characteristics are found in this spectacular, multidimensional, prodigious Pinot Noir that should drink well for 10-15+ years. The clonal material probably came from one of the DRC vineyards, so it is not surprising that. in this cool climate, with the great fruit purity California can achieve, there is a DRC-like resemblance. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 94JS, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted too late to make it into the December issue, Merus’s 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits an inky/purple color as well as an extraordinary bouquet of blueberry liqueur intermixed with graphite, charcoal, cassis, and spice. The wood seems pushed to the background given the extraordinary concentration of fruit. Full-bodied, powerful, and rich with chocolaty espresso notes intermixed with blackberries and blueberries, this pure, impressively textured, long Cabernet should evolve for two decades. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This boutique blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec is a broodingly backward, formidably endowed, full throttle, pedal-to-the-metal style of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2004’s 15.5% alcohol is well-concealed by the wine’s wealth of fruit and glycerin. This full-bodied beauty is black as a moonless night. It exhibits abundant notes of plums, blackberries and creme de cassis as well as nicely integrated wood, acidity and tannin. Pungent, deep, ripe aromas of redcurrant, minerals and graphite. A sweet, plush Echezeaux with a sexy juicy quality to its complex flavors of redcurrant, red cherry, spices and tobacco. Fine-grained, minerally and cool in the middle palate. Ripe and rich but with a restrained sweetness. The tactile back end nicely combines thickness and energy. An Echezeaux of finesse. Bid on this 4-half-bottle lot of 2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml) (100RP, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Alvear’s 2011 Pedro Ximenez de Anada is the most amazing Pedro Ximenez I have ever tasted. It may also be one of the first to be vintage-dated. The grapes were hand-harvested in September, then allowed to dry in the sunshine until they began fermentation, which is ultimately arrested by the addition of spirits. The wine spent six months in large American oak prior to being bottled. It is an amazing effort that looks like molasses. Notes of macerated figs, chocolate and caramelized tropical fruits emerge from this full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine. While sweet, it has enough acidity to balance out its richness. This astonishing 2011 Pedro Ximenez will last as long as any reader of this newsletter. (RP)" (11/2013)
