It has such purity and power yet it's reserved and beautiful. It's one of the best Calons ever. I drank a bottle with some friends in Manhattan last week and it was the wine of the evening. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Montrose, St-Estèphe (99RP, 97JS, 96ST, 95WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The blend in 2003 was 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot (a very high percentage), 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine, unlike most 2003s, has a freshness and liveliness provided by their extraordinary terroir. This wine can be drunk now. It has a dense bluish/purple color to the rim and an extraordinary nose of blueberries and mulberries, with blacker cassis and blackberry entering the picture. Scorched earth, spice and licorice are all present in this magnificent, full-bodied, opulent wine that is very Montrose, very classic and somewhat atypical of the vintage. This dense purple wine has the tell-tale notes of flowers and pencil shavings, and its broad aromatics are intense and totally captivating. Light on its feet despite its stunning concentration and multi-layered mouthfeel, this wine has fabulous intensity, richness and length. Quite impressive, and still incredibly youthful, this is a superstar of the vintage, and capable of lasting another 25-30 years. (RP)" (06/2015)

2007 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A monumental wine in the making, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of those wines that presents such an over the top array of aromas and flavors that it’s hard to figure out what you think about it with just a quick glance. It’s only with the second or third sip that you really start to see how special this effort truly is. Offering up perfumed, intense aromas of plum, violets, ink, licorice and black currants, it flows onto the palate with a massive, incredibly full-bodied texture that builds through the mid-palate and carries layers of polished tannins, awesome purity of fruit and blockbuster length. Most likely not for everyone given the sheer size, it is an incredible wine in my opinion. Still tasting like a barrel sample, it will have 30+ total years of longevity. Drink 2017-2037. This is clearly one of Napa Valley’s iconic wineries, as well as one that, amazingly, never went through a bad patch. Obviously, no matter which generation is in the driver’s seat (or should I say tractor’s seat), Caymus Vineyard knows how to deliver flavor and deliciousness. They appear to be immune to some of winedom’s less than intelligent trends and fads that we see from time to time, and the result is a spectacular 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon 40th Anniversary offering. Showing the perfume and headiness of the vintage, it nevertheless stays vibrant and lively on the palate while delivering layers of fruit and texture. 1999 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (95RP, 94WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Lafite Rothschild sports an engraved '1999' on the bottle along with an eclipse to mark that significant historical event of August, 1999. It is a quintessential offering from Lafite Rothschild. This prodigious wine is both elegant and intensely flavored, and almost diaphanous in its layers that unfold with no heaviness. An opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by a complex bouquet of lead pencil, graphite, cedar, creme de cassis, toast, and vanilla. It is medium-bodied, with extravagant layers of richness yet little weight, and a finish that is all sweetness, ripeness, and harmony. This extraordinary Lafite increasingly appears to be a modern day clone of the majestic 1953. A mere one-third of the crop made it into the grand vin! (RP)" (04/2002)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine continues to get better and better, yet is still not close to full maturity, despite what I would have thought 16 years ago. The wine has a dense, dark plum/ruby color with just a bit of lightening at the edge. A sweet nose of black cherries intermixed with balsam wood, vanilla, and Provencal herbs has an almost Rhone-like character to it. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 98RP, 97ST, 96JS, 95WE, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Its bigger brother, or sister, depending on the point of view, is the extremely young, fresh, vigorous, yet still exuberant and promising 2005 Harlan Estate. Normally, the blends on these wines tend to be 85%-90% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest tiny proportions of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and possibly some Petit Verdot, although I don’t recall that being a very important part of the estate vineyard. The 2005 is incredibly youthful at age ten, although certainly drinkable. And who wouldn’t consume it if they had the opportunity? It will benefit from another 5-10 years of cellaring and certainly has 30 or more years left in its evolutionary curve. Gorgeous, and tasting akin to a hypothetical Pauillac blended with a great Pessac-Léognan from Bordeaux comes to mind because of the smoky, subtle barbecue notes, fruitcake, forest floor,

The similarities include the briary, wild herb scents of sage and thyme that complex the ripe red cherry pie filling fruit, cocoa, cola and licorice. As with the main wine, the tannins here are gorgeous. This is a balanced, harmonious wine that combines power and elegance." (02/2007)

Still young and unformed, it exhibits phenomenal richness and equilibrium as well as a finish that lasts nearly a minute. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 99RP, 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard, which Woodbridge thinks may be the greatest he has made to date, is locked and loaded, with silky tannins and an inky blue/purple color, a gorgeous nose of spring flowers intermingled with crème de cassis, blackberry, lead pencil shavings and spice box, This is a full-throttle, concentrated, stunningly well-balanced wine, with terrific fruit intensity and palate presence. It is fat, it is opulent, it is delicious, but it pulls back from going over the edge, as all great wines tend to do. Drink it over the next 20-25 years. The genius of Jayson Woodbridge is not in dispute. A bigger than life character, he has a certain personal flamboyance and no-prisoners-taken persona, but what he and his team do in the vineyards and winery speaks for itself. These are remarkable wines, with h

2010 Sine Qua Non "Stockholm Syndrome" Sta. Rita Hills Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Sine Qua Non "Stockholm Syndrome" Sta. Rita Hills Grenache (100RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current release of the estate vineyard (a.k.a. the extended barrel-aged cuvee), the 2010 Grenache Stockholm Syndrome is an incredible effort that I couldn’t find a fault with. A blend of 75% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 2% Roussanne and 1% Viognier, all from the Eleven Confession Vineyard, it spent just under 30 months in 22% new and 78% used French oak prior to bottling. Locked and loaded, it knocks it out of the park with its cassis, licorice, smoked duck, spice-box and exotic herb-styled bouquet. The palate follows suit and while it has the expected depth and richness of the estate, it’s seamless, elegant and lively, with perfect balance, ultra-fine tannin and a finish that just won’t quit. It doesn’t get any better and count yourself lucky if you can latch onto a couple of these. It will thrill for 15-20 years. (JD)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95CG, 94RP, 94WE, 94WS, 92JS). Connoisseurs Guide: " *Three Stars* Already amazingly seductive with wonderfully rich aromas of sweet oak, cocoa and fully expressed fruit making a first-rate introduction, this riveting young wine in no way lets up on the palate and delivers deep, multi-faceted flavors that combine ripeness, sweet oak and very precise fruit in near-perfect proportion. As is often the case with Insignia bottlings, it is so beautifully balanced that it invites early drinking, and, while we do not condemn giving in to its charms, we also would lobby strongly for patience as its best years lie down the line." Of the 1994 Fonseca Vintage Port (375ml),Wine Spectator writes: " **1997 Wine of the Year and Cellar Selection** Hold on to your hat. This is the best Fonseca since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage--more like the breathtaking 1948. Mind-blowing, with masses of color, aroma and fruit flavor. Smells like fermenting berries, boasting loads of crushed grape, violet and berry character. Big, full-bodied and very sweet, with tons of tannins and a sweet finish. Tannic and huge, it's a long-term, great Port. Best after 2012." (04/1997)

Of the 1992 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Made from a blend of fruit from four vineyards, Bancroft Ranch (57%), State Lane (now known as the Kapcsandy Vineyard) (21%), St. Helena Home Vineyard (14%) and Chabot (5%), 1992’s growing season was in total contrast to the preceding vintages. It was warm, even hot, with early bud break and some unusual rain in June. However, the following months were super-dry and hot, which caused an early start to the harvest. It turned out to be a classic Napa vintage in its exuberance and rich fruit. Although totally dry, it reveals a sweeter style with higher alcohol and glycerin and an

1991 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1991 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94WS, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The second largest production of Beringer's Private Reserve, the 1991 came in just behind the 24,000 cases of the 1997. Interestingly, these are among the greatest Private Reserves made, and as Ed Sbragia told me, it was just one of those perfect vintages. One of the longest and coolest growing seasons in the history of California, it was marked by cool temperatures throughout the summer and a perfect Indian Summer. The hang time of the grapes, ranging from the date of flowering to the date of harvest, was historically long (I do not believe it has been equaled since). The Cabernet Sauvignon came from the same three sources as the 1990, Bancroft Ranch, the Home Vineyard in St. Helena, and Chabot Vineyard, and the tiny dollop of Cabernet Franc was from the Bancroft Ranch site. I’ve enjoyed many bottles of this spectacular effort, which still poss

1995 Haut-Brion, Pessac Léognan
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Haut-Brion, Pessac Léognan (96RP, 95WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It is fun to go back and forth between the 1995 and 1996, two superb vintages for Haut-Brion. The 1995 seems to have sweeter tannin and a bit more fat and seamlessness when compared to the more structured and muscular 1996. Certainly 1995 was a vintage that the brilliant administrator Jean Delmas handled flawlessly. The result is a deep ruby/purple-colored wine with a tight but promising nose of burning wood embers intermixed with vanilla, spice box, earth, mineral, sweet cherry, black currant, plum-like fruit, medium to full body, a high level of ripe but sweet tannin, and a finish that goes on for a good 40-45 seconds. Winemaker believes this could be the best one yet, and I have to agree. Barrel sample. " (02/2011)

2008 Merryvale "Profile" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Merryvale "Profile" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97WE, 96RP, 94WS, 91ST). Wine Enthusiast: "A tremendous wine that shows how Merryvale is absolutely at the top of its game. Impeccable in structure, with refined tannins that are soft and firm at the same time, and a fine cut of acidity. Entirely dry, the Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend is awesome in blackberry, cherry, cassis and oak flavors, with complexities of anise, soy sauce, grilled meats and minerals. Beyond the particulars, it just feels dramatic and rich in the mouth. A great wine that should develop in the bottle over the next decade." (11/2011)

Of the 2007 Kistler "Cuvée Catherine-Occidental Station" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The compelling 2007 Pinot Noir Cuvee Catherine from the Occidental Station Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast is made entirely from the Calera clone. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (100RP, 98WS, 97ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Utter perfection, and one of the most profound Rhone Ranger wines I have ever tasted... As with many prodigious wines, the extraordinary freshness, purity, equilibrium, and singularity of this effort is breathtaking. Its dense purple color is accompanied by an extraordinary, incredibly pure, all enveloping, intense, sweet nose of black raspberries, kirsch, spring flowers, spice box, and pepper. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - (96-98RP), 97VN, 95ST, 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sweet dark cherries and plums are some of the notes that explode from the 2010 Ovid. An utterly vivid, breathtaking wine, the 2010 impresses for its incredible balance and overall sense of harmony. Flowers of all sorts, sage and rosemary develop in the glass, adding tons of complexity. Today the 2010 is a little reticent next to the decidedly more exuberant 2009, which is quite typical of wines from Pritchard Hill at this stage in the evolution of these vintages. Power, pure vibrancy and intensity are the hallmarks of the 2010. This is another stunning wine from the team at Ovid. I can’t wait to see how the 2010 develops in bottle.
