1988 Pierre Bourée Fils Clos de Vougeot
Bid on this bottle of 1988 Pierre Bourée Fils Clos de Vougeot. The Bourée family approaches winemaking as it has since its founding in 1864: carefully, deliberately, with an eye toward tradition. No wonder these are age-worthy gems. Indeed, they demand cellar time before they open up to the drinker. The Burgundy Report agrees: "These wines need – indeed beg – time in the cellar, and from what I tasted their blend of elegance and aromaticity deserves to be successful – I only hope that there is still sufficient patience in today’s marketplace for Burgundy wines that need to be cellared." Wine Spectator: "Ripe, opulent and complex, this smoothly burnished wine is glowing with plush, toasty berry and cherry flavors that hint at vanilla and nutmeg on the long, polished finished. Seductive now, but should be at its best after 1993 to '94. " (07/1990)

1997 Fonseca Vintage Port (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1997 Fonseca Vintage Port (1.5L) (93RP, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Somewhat of a lightweight for Fonseca, but undeniably charming, this dark ruby/purple-colored wine offers a floral, exotic, flamboyant bouquet, a sweet, fleshy style, but not a great deal of weight or massiveness. Heady alcohol, sweet tannin, and a velvety texture make for a gorgeous finish. (RP)" (12/1999)

1996 Lanson "Gold Label" Brut Champagne (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1996 Lanson "Gold Label" Brut Champagne (1.5L) (92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Fruit-driven aromas of orange gelato, tangerine and minerals. Fat and sweet on entry, then dense and rich but vibrant in the middle, with powerful fruit flavor of clementine. Like fresh-squeezed orange juice. Shows off the vintage's exhilarating combination of sweetness and acidity. Finishes very long and young, with powerful acidity carrying the fruit. The best bottle I've tasted from Lanson in years. 1971 Climens, Barsac
Bid on this bottle of 1971 Climens, Barsac (94RP, 93JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I have had some of the fabled mature vintages of Climens (the 1947 and 1949 come to mind immediately), but the 1971 remains my favorite mature vintage of this wine. It is a classic Climens, powerful yet restrained, rich and opulent, yet also delicate. This wine has superb balance, a long, lively, crisp finish, and moderate sweetness kept light and delightful by excellent acidity. It is one of the finest Barsacs I have ever tasted. The honeyed pineapple character, so much a personality trait of this wine, is abundantly displayed. (RP)" (12/1997)

It has a very direct, linear, steely taste. Great acidity plays a part, as do ripe, fruity flavors and fine balance. This wine should develop well, but it’s delicious now." (11/1/2006)

2013 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2013 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah ((98-100RP), (91-93VN), 93W&S, 93WS, 92CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The same can be said for the 2013 Syrah Relentless, which might end up being the finest one they’ve ever made. The berries were the smallest they’ve encountered, and they were not the only winery to say that about the 2013 red varietals. A blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Petite Sirah, the wine is opaque black/purple with an incredible nose of subtle wood, charcoal embers, blackberry, blueberry and black raspberry fruit, baking spices, and again, a roasted meatiness with some bouquet garni thrown in the background. The complex aromatics were already starting to roar from the glass, and the wine, enormously endowed, is full-bodied and flawlessly constructed. This is a killer effort that should drink well for 40+ years. (RP)" (10/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 700 cases of the 2014 Ontogeny Proprietary Red, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Totally dry, even though there is a wonderful sucrosity to the fruit. The wine has stunning blackberry and cassis notes, spring flowers, supple tannins and a long, multidimensional mouthfeel. 1975 Palmer, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Palmer, Margaux (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1975 Palmer has consistently been one of the top wines of the vintage. The color remains a dark ruby with no signs of amber. The wine reveals plenty of sweet fruit in the fragrant bouquet. Although more tannic than most top vintages of Palmer, this is a full-bodied, rich, concentrated wine with the vintage's toughness and high tannin well-displayed. Yet I believe it possesses enough sweet fruit and extract to stand up to the tannin. Shockingly, the most developed bottle of 1975 Palmer I have tasted was from an Imperial several years ago. From my cellar, the wine is still very young, and in need of another 5-7 years of cellaring. It has another 20+ years of evolution. (RP)" (02/1996)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cherbaudes flows from the glass with tremendous depth and richness. Dark blue and black fruit, violets and licorice are some of the many nuances that emerge over time as the wine becomes more delicate and feminine with air. 1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (98RP, 96ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A massive wine that is clearly of first-growth quality in this vintage, the 1982 Gruaud Larose remains a youngster. A broodingly dense, thick, unctuously textured, inky/plum/garnet/purple color offers up scents of beef blood, steak tartare, cassis, herbs, tobacco, and underbrush. One of the most concentrated wines of the vintage (as well as one of the most concentrated Bordeaux’s I have ever tasted), it is a huge, full-bodied, weighty, rich wine whose tannins are getting silkier and silkier. It appears set for another 30-40 years of life. This behemoth is a singularly profound example of Gruaud Larose that continues to justify its legendary status. Anticipated maturity: now-2050. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Arnaud Ente Meursault 1er Cru "La Goutte d'Or" (91RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Ente’s 2007 Meursault Gouttes d’Or exhibits stony and briny elements one might have predicted given both the site and the wines that went before in his vintage collection. A lovely counterpoint between bright citrus and salt on the one hand and toasted grains and nuts with a hint of honey on the other lends this a distinctive dynamic and – for all of its overtly mineral cast – considerable charm. Zesty, invigorating, and palpably chalky in its long finish, this promises future richness...(DS)" (12/2009)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Syrah James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock is the star of the show in 2012. Borderline perfection, it has straight up awesome notes of black and blue fruits, pepper, crushed violets and searing chalky minerality that shows on both the nose and palate. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*** Outstanding - Top Value *** This is not quite as elegant but it's every bit as aromatically complex with its nose of essence of pear, dried flowers and citrus peel scents. There is a relatively generous mouth feel to the tension-filled and impressively precise and intense flavors that are even more saline in character, indeed this seems borderline salty on the otherwise clean and very dry finish. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Pinot Noir Goldridge and 2010 Pinot Noir Goldridge both came from cool years. The 2010 Pinot Noir Goldridge possesses a more intense bouquet of black cherries, forest floor and spice. Excellent acidity buttresses a fuller-bodied, more concentrated wine that has more substance as well as a layered mouthfeel. It should drink well for 7-10 years. 2001 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru (93BH, 92ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A mature yet attractively fresh nose offers up floral, earthy and spicy red berry fruit aromas that are showing traces of secondary development and are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is a really lovely mouth feel to the beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors that display a subtle mineral streak before culminating in a complex, balanced and lingering finish where a touch of the wood influence resurfaces. There isn't much unresolved tannin remaining and for my taste this has arrived on the front edge of its peak drinkability though it should remain here for at least another decade. 2001 is an elegant vintage for this wine and I very much like it.\" (04/2013)

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (98RP, 97JS, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A dense ruby/purple-tinged color offers up notes of forest floor, subtle wood smoke, mulberries, black cherries, cassis and a hint of lead pencil shavings. There is even a floral component lurking in the intricate aromatic profile. The wine is medium to full-bodied with wonderful intensity that builds incrementally and has a long, silky, luscious finish. There is plenty of tannin, but it is largely concealed by the wine’s beautiful fruit and ethereal complexity. Given its virtually perfect balance, this brilliant Haut-Bailly should age effortlessly for 3-4 decades. This is a tour de force in winemaking, particularly for readers seeking the quintessential example of a Bordeaux that combines compelling complexity and finesse with significant flavor authority and intensity. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Like so many 2004s, the 2004 Dominus is a full-bodied wine showing brilliantly at age ten, with loads of complex cedar, kirsch, Christmas fruitcake, black currants and spice box. It has a creamy, opulent texture, but remains light on its feet. This sexy wine is showing exceptionally well and is best drunk over the next 10-15 years. Not one of the longest-lived wines from Dominus, but it is certainly at a wonderful point in its evolution right now. This beautiful historic vineyard in Yountville produced 5,500 cases of Dominus from a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot. 1983 Quintarelli Recioto della Valpolicella Gran Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1983 Quintarelli Recioto della Valpolicella Gran Riserva (98VN). Vinous: "I went back and forth as to which of the two Reciotos but it was an impossible task as both wines were extraterrestrial. This was my last bottle of the 1983 Recioto Gran Riserva, a mythical, legendary bottle that more than lived up to expectations. I will never understand how a wine can be so complex yet so youthful, but that was exactly where the 1983 was. This immortal Recioto flowed with the essence of rich cherries, violets, chocolate and minerals in a regal style fit for kings and queens. The 1990 Recioto Riserva was incredibly rich, seamless and opulent, all while somehow staying light on its feet. The 1990 had a touch more depth than the 1983 Gran Riserva but perhaps a shade less overall complexity. No matter, both wines were profound. The torrone dessert was delicious, but in the end I chose to spend a few last contemplative moments with these two masterpieces from Giuseppe Quintarel

Founded by Tsar Nicholas II in 1894, the Massandra Winery, on the outskirts of Yalta, on the Crimean Peninsula, supplied the royal family with fine wines while they were vacationing at their summer palace at Livadia...Could the reason why the Allies (Roosevelt, Churchill, et. al.) capitulated to Stalin, essentially conceding one-half of Europe to him at the 1943 Yalta Conference, have been because they had drunk too much of these wines while holding the conference at the Tsar's former summer palace at Livadia?" 2005 Domaine Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (95JS, 94BH, 93W&S). James Suckling: "My birthday celebration night in Hong Kong moved on from Moët & Chandon and Dom Pérignon 2000 to a 2005 Bonneau de Martray Corton-Charlemange, which is an old favorite of mine for great white Burgundy. I often say that great Corton-Charlemagne is a red wine masquerading as a white wine because it can be so structured and textured. This 2005 was certainly like that. Some say that Bonneau de Martray went down in quality in the 1990s but then came back in the 2000s. The 2005 that we drank was excellent quality. It was a tightly structured white with sliced apples, lemon meringue and an exquisite cream character. It was full body and silky-textured, showing a dense and beautiful palate. It still needs at least two or three years to open and show its true quality." (06/2016)

2012 Sine Qua Non "Touche - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Touche - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 98VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lastly, the utterly perfect 2012 Syrah Touche reminds me of a great vintage of Guigal’s Cote Rotie La Landonne. A blend of 93% Syrah, 5% Petite Sirah and 2% Viognier, all from the Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, it spent 40 months in 78% new French oak. Deep, concentrated, full-bodied and layered, with a multidimensional texture and to-die-for notes of camphor, cured meats, violets, smoke and assorted dark fruits, this beauty has fine, perfectly ripe tannin and blockbuster length. Give it 3-4 years and drink over the following two decades. (RP)" (08/2016)

1978 J.-L. Chave Hermitage
Bid on this bottle of 1978 J.-L. Chave Hermitage (96RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This has always been one of Chave's single greatest vintages, possibly equaled in recent years by 1989, 1991, 1994, and 1995, and possibly surpassed by 1990. Memorizing its aromas, its flavors, its texture, and its length is a quick education in what great wine is all about. Still an infant, with a murky, dark ruby/garnet color, this wine offers a smoky, tar, cassis, herb, and grilled meat set of aromatics, huge body, and mouth-searing tannin. This remains a very youthful wine-after nearly two decades of cellaring! Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025. (RP)" (01/1997)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St-Jacques" Vieille Vignes (96RP, 94ST, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques engages all of the senses with its cool, mineral-laced fruit and expressive bouquet. This shows marvelous tension and energy, not to mention fabulous overall balance. It could not be more different in style than the 2009 tasted alongside it. Both are fabulous, though. The 2008 is one of the more backward wines of the vintage and will require considerable patience. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2033. (AG)" (05/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine de Montille Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Malconsorts" ((93-96ST), (92-95BH), (92-95RP)). "Don't Miss! Outstanding!" from Allen Maadows who scores it 92-95: "A spicy, cool, elegant and very fresh nose features notes of hoisin, soy, anise and sandalwood while seamlessly integrating with rich, full-bodied and tautly muscular flavors that possess a silky mouth feel and supple mid-palate yet the robust tannins are extremely firm as is the explosive finish. Despite the muscular aspect, this is essentially an elegant wine that is more in the vein of a gymnast than a weight lifter." (Burghound, 05/2011)

2012 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 98JS, (95-97ST), 97VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Harlan Estate is reminiscent of their 2002. Probably a candidate for perfection with another 4-5 years of bottle age, the wine is inky plum/purple to the rim and offers a gorgeous nose of scorched earth, blackberry and cassis, forest floor, and a floral, lavender-like component followed by deep, opulent, majestic flavors that caress the palate with high but sweet tannin. This is relatively evolved, and supple and voluptuous for a young Harlan estate -- hence the comparison with their compelling 2002. This wine can be drunk in several years and is likely another candidate for 30-50 years of cellaring. 99+ points. 99+ (RP)" (10/2015)

2011 Hudelot Noellat Romanee St. Vivant Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Hudelot Noellat Romanee St. Vivant Grand Cru (92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Very ripe, slightly exotic aromas of raspberry, mocha and underbrush. Highly concentrated and deep; opulent and lightly saline but a bit sullen today. Most impressive right now on the very long, slowly mounting finish, which really camps out on the palate. Vinified with 20% whole clusters but I never would have guessed it from this sample.92+ Points" (03/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Colgin "Tychson Hill Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 100RP, 96VN, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard is a rival for the 2012. Opaque purple, with blueberry and blackberry fruit, a hint of incense and subtle toast, the wine has great intensity, incredible richness and, again, a floral blue- and black-fruited nose and flavor profile that is remarkable. The finish goes on for close to a minute. This is slightly more tightly knit than the more ostentatious 2012, but both are wines to taste and drink before you die! (RP)" (10/2015)

1969 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanee-Conti Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1969 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanee-Conti Grand Cru (90BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from a bottle with < 5 cm of ullage). 1969 was generally an excellent vintage in Burgundy and while many wines have begun to tire in the last few years, it has stayed the course reasonably well. Unfortunately, the DRC '69s, while still pretty, are not among the vintage's best even if they are wines of obvious quality. Completely bricked through. Easily the best part of the '69 RC is the nose with its soaring aromas of sous bois, caramel, brown sugar, a lovely range of spice nuances and animale undertones that give way to sweet, round and detailed middle weight flavors that reveal perhaps a bit more minerality than usual while culminating in a still focused and equally sweet finish of solid if not sensational length. The structure is almost completely resolved and I would be drinking this now and over the next decade but probably not longer than that as the wine risks

Vinous: "Layers of rich, expressive fruit resonate off the palate as the 2011 Chablis Blanchot emerges from the glass. A picture-perfect example of the vintage, the Blanchot is super-expressive, even at this early stage. Citrus, honey and spice nuances flesh out in an expansive, generous Chablis that will drink well with minimum cellaring. (AG)" (08/2013)

2012 J.-F. Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2012 J.-F. Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (97RP, 95BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Raphel Coche told me that the 2012 Corton Charlemagne was the only vineyard that escaped hail damage this year. It has a very succinct nose, not predisposed to go out and grab you by the lapels. The aromatics unfurl with a sense of ease prioritizing finesse over power: beeswax, linden, lemon thyme and fresh pear. The palate is exquisitely balanced with fleeting glimpses of Seville orange and apricot. But there is more about the tension, the effortlessness and that it just rolls out across the finish like a huge Turkish rug. This is the kind of wine that exhausts superlatives. 97+ Points (NM)" (06/2015)

Vintage 2004 has given beautifully ripe Merlot, perfectly poised, but also showing the dryness and power. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Bryant Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100JS, 99VN, 97RP). James Suckling: "Aromatic and vivid with blackberries, fresh mushrooms, blackcurrants and flowers. Full-bodied, firm and very silky. Tightly wound ball of silk. Extremely long and linear. Fine-grained. Lasts for minutes. Reminiscent of the great Napa reds of the 1950s and 1960s. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 98RP, 96WS, 93VN, 92W&S) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection exhibits an opaque purple color, slightly more toasty oak in the aromatics, and explosive richness on the attack, mid-palate and length. The nose is slightly more restrained than in the regular bottling, but there is no doubting the Special Selection is a cut or two above the Napa bottling when it hits the palate. Extraordinary purity of fruit, creme de cassis, licorice and incense all emerge from this full-bodied, iconic classic. It can be enjoyed now and over the next 25+ years. (RP)" (10/2013)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 97W&S, 94ST, 93CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While in a good year there's normally 4,000 cases of the Monte Bello, there was a scant 2,200 cases produced of the 2005 Monte Bello. Thick, massive, and concentrated with ample currants, lead pencil, licorice and chocolate aromas and flavors, this full-bodied beauty is just now at the early stages of adolescence, and has plenty of underlying tannic grip still present. It should hit full maturity in another 4-5 years and hold for 2-3 decades after that. (JD)" (10/2015)
