2015 Sine Qua Non "Entre Chien et Loup'' White Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2015 Sine Qua Non "Entre Chien et Loup'' White Blend (97JD, 97RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Entre Chien et Loup is a blend of 44% Chardonnay, 40% Roussanne, 8% Petit Manseng and 8% Viognier coming 44% from Bien Nacido Vineyard, 30% from the Cumulus (Estate) Vineyard and 26% from the Eleven Confessions (Estate) Vineyard. No settling was done to the juices—they were fermented as 'dirty' as possible and, as usual, they were not racked. This wine was matured for around 19 months (bottled April 12, 2017), in: 19% concrete eggs, 20% stainless steel, 20% used barrels and 41% new French oak. It opens with a positively electric nose of ripe apricots, pink grapefruit and green mango with notions of candied ginger, honeycomb, allspice and baking bread. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a wonderfully satiny texture and incredible freshness, cutting through the dense tropical and stone fruit layers, finishing with epic length and many layers of

2010 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 95VN, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Syrah Booker Vineyard - a blend of 81% Syrah and 19% Mourvedre - is about as textbook a representation of a Paso Robles Syrah as I can think of. Locked and loaded with notions of ripe black and blue fruits, smoke, bouquet garni, espresso, and licorice, it is unabashedly full-bodied, rich, and yet elegant on the palate. Showing real class, as well as first-rate freshness, superb depth and concentration, and masses of tannin, this blockbuster Syrah needs a solid 3-4 years of bottle age to flesh out, and will keep for 15-20 years or more. A benchmark estate for California, Saxum, under the helm of superstar winemaker Justin Smith, continues to produce some of the most compelling, profound wines on the planet. While Smith’s wines are always full-flavored and intense, there has been a stylistic change over recent vintages, with the wines showing more

2013 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Merlot
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2013 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Merlot (90VN). Vinous: "Today, the Merlot is deep, dense and powerful, but it also drinks surprisingly well for the year. Dark cherry, mocha, plum, smoke, licorice, spice and French oak are all quite forward. Drink this plump, giving Merlot over the next handful of years. The 40% new French oak is a bit dominant today. 2008 Merry Edwards "Coopersmith" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2008 Merry Edwards "Coopersmith" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L) (92CG, 92WE). Wine Enthusiast: "This is a big, full-bodied Pinot, dark in color, fairly tannic and weighty. Completely dry, it’s made in a more robust style than many another Russian River Pinot Noir. The cherry, currant, pomegranate and persimmon flavors have an edge of raisins that adds interest. Decant it, let it breathe and watch how it changes in the glass." (04/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Shafer "One Point Five" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 93WE, 93WS, 92W&S, 91CG, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Shafer’s 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five, composed of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot, has been a brilliant introduction to their portfolio of Stags Leap offerings. It spends 21 months in two-thirds new oak. The wine’s dense ruby/purple color is followed by a wine with glorious opulence, abundant fruit, supple, sweet tannins, a round, generous, mouthfilling texture and stunning purity as well as complexity. This terrific example of Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking beautifully at present, should hit its peak in 4-5 years, and will last for another decade thereafter. (RP)" (04/2014)

2015 Maybach Family "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2015 Maybach Family "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (100JD, 97RP). Jeb Dunnuck: "One of the greatest wines in the vintage is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a higher elevation hillside vineyard in Oakville that was raised in 90% new French oak barrels. Just magical stuff that has incredible aromatics of crème de cassis, white flowers, huge minerality, violets, and scorched earth. This is followed by a massive, opulent, yet weightless wine that has off the charts purity of fruit, fine, fine tannin, perfect balance, and a finish that won’t quit. This legendary beauty will benefit from 5-6 years of bottle age and keep for three to four decades." (12/2017)

Of the 2011 Turley "Dragon Vineyard" Howell Mountain Zinfandel,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Bright red-ruby. Crushed berries and licorice on the nose and palate, accented by lavender and Provencal herbs. Densely packed, sweet and layered, offering a compelling savory quality and a distinctly chewy texture. For all its considerable sweetness, the very long finish remains remarkably vibrant. The serious ripe tannins give this wine the underpinning for a graceful evolution in bottle. Larry Turley recommends pairing this with lamb shoulder done with garlic and thyme. 94+" (05/2013)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Cayuse "Cailloux Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Viognier (93RP, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I think one of the greatest Viognier's coming out of the US is Baron's Cailloux Vineyard. The 2013 Viognier Cailloux Vineyard offers terrific citrus blossom, stone fruits, white flowers and seashell notes in a classy, vibrant and racy style. It doesn't have the flesh or richness of a top Condrieu, but it has fabulous purity and length. (JD)" (06/2015)

2008 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay (94ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow. Compellingly pure, complex nose melds citrus fruits, ginger, smoky minerals and a strong oyster shell quality. Impressively dense and vibrant in the mouth, conveying an impression of mineral-driven power and structure. This penetrating, voluminous wine boasts incredible depth without any impression of weight. Fruit is playing a supporting role here. The fine-grained, tactile finish offers exceptional clarity and length. This was among the finest chardonnays I tasted during my early March trip. 2005 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (97JD, 97RP, 96WS, 95DC, 95VN, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Pontet-Canet vertical in London, the 2005 Château Pontet-Canet has long been one of the stars of the vintage and this might well be the best of over a dozen showings of this wine. However, do not expect ostentation on the nose. This is 2005 and like many wines of this vintage, even with considerable decanting, it remained broody and introspective on the nose, as if it is checking you out and seeing if you are worthy. Once you have been accepted, then it swings the doors open to reveal gorgeous scents of blackberry, briary and cassis fruit, perhaps a little more sous-bois than I have noticed compared to previous bottles. The palate is medium-bodied, but dense and structured—certainly a more masculine Pontet-Canet built for long-term ageing. Yet it retains marvelous freshness and vitality all the way through to the pencil-lead, quite saline finish. I suspe

2002 Donnhoff Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Eiswein Nahe (375ml)
Bid on this half-bottle of 2002 Donnhoff Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Eiswein Nahe (375ml) (100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Riesling Eiswein Oberhauser Brucke is a grand slam home run for Donnhoff. It is so intense, so powerful, and so complex as to instill fear in the taster. Its apricot and peach cobbler aromas lead to a jellied core of cassis, raspberries, syrupy slate, and oodles of spices. It is simply amazing that a wine of this richness, ripeness, and depth can retain perfect definition, grip, and refinement. What is truly terrifying, however, is that Donnhoff produced a three-star Eiswein from the same vineyard in 2002, one he presumably considers better than this sublime nectar. Part of me is grateful that I was unable to taste it, however, as I have only 100 points with which to work. Bravo! Projected maturity: 2015-2040+. (PR)" (02/2004)

Of the 2002 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "La Forest",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Wet stone, smoke and flowers on the nose, along with complicating musky and herbal nuances. Wonderfully ripe and silky on entry, with grapefruit and menthol flavors, then almost painful on the back end, finishing with palate-coating mineral dust and liquid and superb persistence. This, too, offers an impression of energy in the mouth that I too rarely get from Chardonnay grown on the Cote de Beaune. (ST)" (07/2004)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard comes all from the Golitzin’s Red Mountain vineyard and is almost all Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the richest and most concentrated wines in the vintage, it offer fabulous creme de cassis, black raspberry, graphite, toast and licorice aromas and flavors to go with a full-bodied, seamless and beautifully balanced profile on the palate. As expected, it doesn’t have the sheer wealth of material that’s present in the prior vintages, yet everything is perfectly proportioned, it has excellent mid-palate depth and notable, sweet tannin. It boasts big, smoky, chocolatey, creme de cassis-like aromas and flavors intermixed with hints of espresso as well as earth. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese Gold Capsule (AP 20) is still pretty reductive and flinty on the nose and needs a lot of aeration. Sweet and concentrated, with a fine botrytis and grapefruit flavor, this Riesling has tight structure, mouth-watering fruit and good acidity. There is also an endless flow of salts and stones. This is a beautiful, full-bodied Chardonnay to drink over the next decade or more. Mark Aubert continues to set the bar incredibly high for the world-class quality of his Burgundian-styled, remarkable Chardonnays...As I indicated last year, Aubert is at the top of his game, and it is hard to believe any Chardonnay winemaker in the world is turning out a half-dozen Chardonnays at this qualitative level year in and year out. Bid on this magnum of 2014 Saxum "Heart Stone Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) (97RP, 94VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A classic Paso Robles Syrah (57% Syrah, 24% Grenache and the rest Mourvedre) that delivers on all accounts, the 2014 Heart Stone Vineyard is a big, rich, decadently styled beauty that offers tons of upfront spice, dark fruits, licorice and smoked earth aromatics, with more floral, violets and sappy underbrush notes coming through with air that keep it far for simple or straightforward. Utterly seamless on the palate, with full-bodied richness, a big, rich mid-palate and the chalky tannin that's the hallmark of these limestone hills on the west side of Paso Robles, this riveting, powerful, yet weightless beauty just begs to be drunk today, yet it will evolve easily for a decade or more. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a light, dusty texture. It's so fine and beautiful, racy and refined. Very structured indeed but also soulful and very, very inspiring. There's a new refinement to this wine as the winemakers search for a truly beautiful expression of the terroir. Better in 2017 but a joy to taste now." (09/2014)

2010 Williams Selyem "Allen Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Williams Selyem "Allen Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (95CG, 94ST, 94WE, 90WS). Connoisseurs Guide: "Choosing a favorite from the Williams Selyem lineup is a difficult, if wholly, enjoyable task most every year, and, in 2010, picking becomes harder yet as there are so many successes from which to choose. Still, this extraordinarily deep and perfectly balanced bottling rises with the cream to the top, and its impressions of polish and controlled potency are the stuff of greatness. It is already complex but not nearly so much as it will be later on, and it is in all ways a collectable wine that belongs in the cellar of every dyed-in-the-wool devotee of fine California Pinot Noir." 2006 Talenti Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Talenti Brunello di Montalcino (94RP, 93ST, 92WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the more perfumed, vibrant wines to emerge from the southern reaches of Montalcino. Freshly cut flowers, minerals, licorice and juicy black cherries all come together beautifully in this gracious, utterly impeccable Brunello. With time in the glass the wine puts on weight, but the tannins retain considerable elegance and finesse. Sublte hints of oak linger on the impeccable finish. This is a fabulous effort from Talenti. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. (AG)" (05/2011)

1980 Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1980 Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Jordan was known as the ultimate "restaurant wine" (read: ready to drink upon release) but has stood the test of time as an ageable California Cabernet Sauvignon. This 1980 is one of the best that Jordan has produced. Very soft and herbal, the 1980 has a warm, round quality to it with fine balance. A ripe wine but not overly so. Drinking beautifully now with some years ahead of it at optimum drinkability. Highly recommended. From the winery: "Our 1980 vintage has remarkable, rich color for its age. A lovely backbone of good acidity has kept this beautifully soft wine alive for 30 years. It’s an intriguing, quiet-spoken wine with subtle scents of strawberry rhubarb and elegant flavors of dried cherries and plums. The 750ml format bottles should be enjoyed now." (06/11)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino (97JS, 96RP, 96VN, 95WS, 94WE, 91ST). James Suckling: "Giancarlo Pacenti has been making superb Brunello di Montalcinos for decades at his family estate, Siro Pacenti. He is one of the leaders of his generation in advocating modern viticulture and precision winemaking...I can't believe how the nose changes from white truffle to berry and black cherry and then goes blueberries and citrus fruits. Full and soft and velvety. It is layered and massive with so much going on. Now sweet tobacco and berries. A wine that is in evolution every moment. " (01/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion (96RP, 93JS, 93ST, 91WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine of the vintage candidate in 2008, Troplong Mondot's offering was produced from yields of 41 hectoliters per hectare and achieved 14.5% natural alcohol. A classic blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it offers copious quantities of blue and black fruits, a full-bodied opulence, sweet tannin and a fabulous texture as well as finish. Already drinking beautifully, it will be even better in 2-5 years and should last for 20 years. A great effort for the vintage, it couldn’t happen to a more deserving proprietor, Christine Valette. Bravo! (RP)" (05/2011)

This full-bodied, young adolescent appears to need another 3-4 years of bottle age. It was slightly closed in this tasting, but is an impressive young wine. (RP)" (06/2012)

Everything is in gorgeous balance as dark cherries, plums, violets and spices come together in a fresh, vibrant expression of Sangiovese. The wine is singing today, but it will be even more delicious in another year or two. The Chianti Classico spent 16 months in French oak, 40% of which was new. (AG)" (08/2009)

2005 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac (92RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In this vintage, this estate (one of the leading properties in Fronsac) produced an opaque/purple blend of 75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines averaging 25 years of age. Offering beautiful black cherry and black raspberry fruit, abundant chalk, minerality, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and a long finish, this over-achieving, full-throttle Fronsac is a brilliant example of the vintage and of this terroir. Give it another several years of bottle age, and drink it over the following 10-15 years. This sleeper of the vintage should prove to be one of the longest-lived vintages of Vieille Cure to date. Kudos to the ownership. (RP)" (06/2015)

The core of lush fig, plum and blackberry fruit sits in reserve, and the finish is polished and long. Impressive. Best from 2015 through 2025. (JM)" (03/2013)

The 2011 captures the vibrancy and coolness style of the year, but with more fruit and better overall harmony than the other wines in the range. Veeder is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and usually my favorite from Betty O’Shaughnessy. She produces just under 1,200 cases of this wine, which has the classic blueberry, blackberry and acacia flower nose that comes from the high elevations of this wild and backward mountain area in southern Napa Valley. Dense bluish/purple to the rim, with loads of blueberries on the palate, big-time glycerin, sweet tannin, low acidity and a long, layered finish, this is terrific wine to drink now and over the next 20-25 years.
