Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Saxum "Bone Rock-James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (97RP, 95ST, 94WE, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While I wasn’t able to taste the 2004, the 2005 James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock is a knockout. A blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Grenache that was aged in 500-liter French oak puncheons, it boasts a thrilling bouquet of cassis, lead pencil shavings, licorice and toasted spices. Seamless, pure and layered, with superb concentration and perfect balance, it has sweet tannin and an awesome finish. Give it a short decant if drinking anytime soon. (JD)" (07/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard has notes of nectarines, lemon oil, marmalade, roasted pineapple, and a hint of smoky, toasty oak, but a very subtle one. Stunningly rich, full-bodied, opulent, but with zesty acidity (a hallmark of all these 2005s), this wine looks set for 5-7 years of evolution." (12/2007)

"The 2000 Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has a wonderful varietal aroma layered with bright cherry fruit and just a whisper of mint that makes the wine distinctive. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Syrah (94RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Although production is tiny (300 cases), Araujo’s Eisele Vineyard Syrah is an ageworthy effort that is generally co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier (around 4%), and aged in French oak (50% new). The 2003 Syrah Eisele Vineyard reveals a wonderful blackberry, chocolate, and peppery-scented nose along with good subtlety as well as authoritative richness, power, and purity. It is a stunning Syrah that should last a decade even though it will provide immediate gratification. (RP)" (12/2006)

1999 Dominique Laurent Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Dominique Laurent Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes. According to Allen Meadows: "The Dominique Laurent 1999s could be the strongest set of wines he has ever produced. They are quite individual in style and will not necessarily be to the taste of purists as they are arguably more about Dominique Laurent and his vision of what Burgundies should be rather than any unadorned reflection of the underlying terroir. That said, if you have admired the style of M. Laurent's wines in the past, then you will love his 1999s as they are some of the most intense, most seductive and most particular wines I tasted on this trip. As M. Laurent will tell you over and over on any given visit, he searches only for the best growers and always for wines from old vines that deliver density, concentration and complexity." Of the 2006 David Arthur Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Wine Enthusiast writes: "Here’s an important new Cabernet that instantly takes its place in the increasingly crowded Napa pantheon. It’s extraordinarily rich in black currants, chocolate, anise, pepper and cedar flavors that are wrapped into perfectly ripened tannins. 2007 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A profound wine from a superb Napa vintage for Bordeaux varietals, the 2007’s nose may cause one to overdose on blue, black and red berry fruit. The extraordinary intensity, purity and depth in this rich, flamboyant, exuberant wine are mindboggling. This bigger-than-life Cabernet Sauvignon appears set for 20-30 years of aging. It can be drunk now, but because of its sweet, velvety tannins, it will still be offering sensational drinking in 2040. (RP)" (06/2012)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Sticks and Stones is a gorgeous, vibrant wine laced with sweet red cherries, licorice, mint and spices. There is a purity and sheer finesse here that is striking. Sweet floral notes add lift on the finish. This is a stunning, medium-bodied wine built on freshness, acidity and length. In 2010, the blend is 71% Grenache, 19% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. What a great way to start this tasting. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. It is a wine that very much wants drinking with food, and its absence of heat and its essentially slightly snappy style make it a good match for veal piccata." (01/2006)

2006 Marcassin "Three Sisters Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Marcassin "Three Sisters Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (96RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chardonnay Three Sisters Vineyard (700 cases) possesses a superb texture in addition to abundant amounts of popcorn, white currant, hazelnut, and tropical fruit blossom characteristics, superb purity as well as acidity, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and a beautiful finish. In a vintage that was challenging for many California Chardonnay producers, the Three Sisters and the 2006 Marcassin Estate Chardonnays stand out as candidates for 'wines of the vintage'. Given the history of the vintage and the challenging conditions for Chardonnay, I would suspect these wines will evolve quickly by Marcassin’s standards, meaning they are probably best drunk in their first decade of life." This dark ruby/purple-colored, seductive wine offers blazingly intense aromas of cigar box, smoky oak, and jammy black currants with a hint of Provencal herbs. Ripe and full-bodied, with low acidity, and a fleshy, succulent texture, it is a wine to drink over the next 14-15 years." (12/1998)

2009 Ovid "Experiment P4.9" Napa Valley Red Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Ovid "Experiment P4.9" Napa Valley Red Blend. Ovid's "Experiment" bottling always changes, as the team at Ovid--you guessed it--experiments with different wines and is inspired by the characteristics of new yield. Made by Austin Peterson with consulting winemaker Andy Erickson, the 2009 Ovid "Experiment" is a blend of 2/3 Cabernet Sauvignon, 1/3 Cabernet Franc, both from single clones. The Cabernet provides structure and depth, along with rich cassis and cocoa notes. The Cabernet Franc adds brightness and lift, in the form of red fruit and floral highlights in the nose, and earthy notes on the palate. The smooth finish is defined by supremely long, lithe tannins.

Today, the 2010 is open and expressive, with soft, silky tannins and tons of near-term appeal, all qualities entry-level Cabernets should have. Full-bodied, dense, and well-balanced, it should drink well for 10-15 years. Interestingly, Paul Frank continues to sell much of his production to such high quality wineries as Pahlmeyer. It was aged for 22 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. It is opaque purple/black with an expansive perfume of toast, smoke, spice box, mineral, pencil lead, tar, licorice, blueberry, and blackberry. The nose is seamless, expressive and pretty, showing red fruits and a rich blueberry reduction. In the mouth you sense a richness of fig, ripe plum, deep black cherry and blackberry. You can feel the finesse and elegance on the palate that highlights the sweet red fruit flavors - cherry, currant, raspberry and red licorice. Voluptuous in the mouth, with tremendous fruit purity, a beautiful, multi-layered texture, and a long finish, this terrific offering is about as good as Bordeaux varietals can be in this sector of California’s Central Coast. Although accessible, this tour de force in winemaking will drink well over the next 10-15 years." (02/2005)

2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (100RP, 96JS, 96WS, 94ST, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest wine ever made by proprietors Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the 2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte exhibits an opaque blue/purple color in addition to a glorious nose of acacia flowers, licorice, charcoal, blueberries, black raspberries, lead pencil shavings and incense. This massive, extraordinarily rich, unctuously textured wine may be the most concentrated effort produced to date, although the 2000, 2005 and 2010 are nearly as prodigious. A gorgeous expression of Pessac-Leognan with sweet tannin, emerging charm and delicacy, and considerable power, depth, richness and authority, it should age effortlessly for 30-40+ years. Bravo!" Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Revana Family Vineyard St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon in original wood. Winemaker Heidi Peterson-Barrett (Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, Grace Family, Barbour, etc.) writes: "The 2006 Revana Cabernet is deep ruby in color with aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry and cassis. Hints of sweet French oak lead you into the first sip confirming this is a special wine. The wine is full, yet soft in the mouth, dense and structured with mouth coating velvety tannins. Flavors on the palate match the aromas of ripe black fruits layered with toasty, elegant oak components."

1990 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon offers an even more spectacular nose than the 1991 (rated 93), largely because it has enjoyed an additional year of evolution. Smoky, cassis, herb, sweet, leathery, meaty aromas are as profound as in the 1991. The wine is even more unctuous and flattering. This full-bodied, gorgeously put together wine should be approachable young but last for up to 15-20 years. Proprietor Patrick Campbell's superb Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on the slopes overlooking the Sonoma Valley has proven to be one of the finest sources for Cabernet in California. The use of traditional winemaking techniques designed not to strip the wine results in a wine that is full of character." (10/1993)

Of the 1988 Albert Morot Beaune 1er Cru "Grèves",Wine Spectator writes: "Attractive currant and plum flavors are lively, focused and rich, with a crisp texture and intense tannins. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Wind Gap "Gap's Crown" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (92RP, 92ST, 90W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chardonnay Gap’s Crown Vineyard is beautifully layered from start to finish. Lemon, mint, flowers and pastry are beautifully woven together in this delicate, understated Chardonnay. The wine was fermented in equal parts concrete, neutral oak and stainless steel and aged for 18 months in neutral oak. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. I was deeply impressed with many of the wines I tasted from Wind Gap and proprietors Pax and Pamela Mahle. (AG)" (02/2012)

1992 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1992 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This small 10-acre estate situated high on Spring Mountain produces some of the most distinctive Napa Valley wines. Since bottling, the 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon continues to display the remarkable richness and opulence it possessed from cask. The wine offers a saturated dark purple color, a jammy, plum, black-cherry, herb, and spice-scented nose, expansive, chewy, full-bodied flavors, superb depth, moderate tannin, low acidity, and a blockbuster finish. It should drink well for more than two decades. Togni's Cabernet Sauvignon, generally made from a Bordeaux-like blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, and aged 22 months in small French oak casks of which 25-40% are new, is one of the richest, most complex Cabernets made in California. Every time I have the opportunity to go back and taste an older vintage I am impressed with the complex a

Of the 1999 Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru "Les Taillepieds",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Ruby-red. Deep, ripe aromas of raspberry, spices and minerals. Wonderfully chewy and voluminous for a wine from this domain; the 12.9% alcohol is barely average in the context of Burgundy '99, but high for a de Montille wine. Nearly confectionery sweetness leavened by superb vinosity. Finishes with thoroughly sweet, suave tannins and a late burst of cherry flavor. A great Cote de Beaune wine, bottled in August of 2001. Like the Mitans and Rugiens, this aged on its lees for 22 months without being racked." (03/2002)

Of the 2004 Deux Montille Soeur-Frère Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes",Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: " A more discreet and understated nose of softly perfumed but beautifully ripe and stunningly elegant aromas with impressive layering lead to rich, full and sweet flavors underpinned by an almost pungent minerality and a vibrant, driving and wonderfully defined finish. This is completely different from the Bouchères and there is sufficient detail and minerality that this could almost pass for an excellent Perrières plus the dry extract level is most impressive."
