2012 Aubert Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir Horizontal
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Aubert Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir Horizontal, including 1-bottle of 2012 Aubert "UV Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ((92-94RP), 94VN) and 1-bottle of 2012 Aubert "UV-SL Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (95VN). Of the 2012 Aubert "UV-SL Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Vinous writes: "The 2012 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard is the most complete of these Pinots. It is also by far the most intense. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and menthol notes all take shape in the glass. The style is broad, ample and super-ripe. Amazingly, with time in the glass, the wine comes together very nicely, but it really does need a lot of time. A juicy, boisterous finish rounds things out. The UV-SL is the Pinot that most clearly defines Mark Aubert's deeply personal approach to Pinot Noir." (02/2014)

2009 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 97JS, 97WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Simply put, the 2009 James Berry Vineyard is one of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted from California, or anywhere for that matter. Bright, floral aromatics lead to expressive red fruit in this impossibly elegant, dazzling wine. A melange of rose petals, mint and licorice follows as the James Berry shows off its breathtaking clarity and finesse. Fine-grained, chalky tannins frame the exceptional finish. Frankly, I am surprised this is the first wine of the tasting. Where does one go from here? (AG) " (08/2011)

Of the 2012 Williams Selyem "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir,Connoisseurs Guide writes: "This outstanding effort ranks among the richest and best-filled examples of Olivet Lane Pinot that we can recall, and, while deep in fully-ripened, black cherry fruit, it is as noteworthy for its careful, very keen sense of balance as for its considerable generosity. It is moderately full-bodied and fleshy in feel, and its ready ripeness is tempered by neatly matched acidity that lifts and brightens its wonderfully persistent finish. It delivers lots to like now, and we would not turn down a bottle if offered with dinner

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine Jacques Prieur Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Combettes" ((89-92BH), (90-92RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes comes from their sizable 1.50-hectare parcel located just after Meursault Charmes-Dessus. It has a very vivacious bouquet with citrus peel and lemon thyme – the most effervescent aromatics displayed by Prieur’s 2012 so far. The palate is well balanced with a vibrant opening. The acidity is well judged and there are plenty of shimmering apricot and white peach notes lining up on the tense finish. Excellent. (NM)" (10/2013)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Occidental (Kistler) "Bodegas Headlands--Cuvee Elizabeth" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (98RP, 97VN, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As good as the Cuvée Catherine is, there is another Occidental Pinot that is profound. There are 2,000 cases of the 2012 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvée Elizabeth. This wine reminded me of my earlier days in Burgundy tasting the Grand Cru Musigny. Incredible floral notes, sweet raspberries and blueberries as well as wet rocks soar from the glass of this profound, medium to full-bodied, gorgeous Pinot Noir made from 100% Calera clone. Stunning ripeness, great acids, and terrific delineation are all present in this super-intense, fragrant, modern classic from Steve Kistler. It should drink well for at least a decade, possibly a lot longer. (RP)" (01/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pure perfection, the amazing 2010 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse is one of the greatest Pinots I have ever tasted ... anywhere. There are only 140 cases of this beauty, which was cropped at just over a ton of fruit per acre. It offers up notes of bouquet garni, roasted meats, black raspberries, black currants, strawberries and cherries. Deep and full-bodied with a flawless integration of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol, this glorious Pinot Noir should prove to be legendary. It will age effortlessly for 12+ years. (RP)" (12/2013)

Greatness is suggested by a wonderfully sweet mid-section, gorgeous purity, and this humongous wine's overall symmetry. It also possesses sumptuous layers of concentration, remarkably sweet tannin, low acidity, and a 40+ second finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2040. (RP)" (01/2000)

2010 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino (98RP, 95WS, 94VN, 93JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is a striking wine that shows uncompromising varietal pureness, albeit in a most concentrated and elaborate form. This is what great Sangiovese is all about. There's so much happening on the nose and the wine brings you to cherry, spice, licorice, cured meat, pressed rose and grilled meat in equal measure. No one element overpowers the next. The mouthfeel is also tight and bright with the kind of fruit intensity that promises long cellar aging. This Brunello is only at the beginning of a long road ahead. The longer the wine stays in the glass, the more it offers in terms of complexity and intensity. This is a true standout that can be enjoyed for up to 20 years ahead.Fabrizio Bindocci and his son Alessandro are the most accomplished father-son winemaking team I can think of today in Italy. Rita Hills Pinot Noir,Wine Enthusiast writes: " *Cellar Selection* Named after the famed vineyard’s south-facing slopes, this vintage is expertly crafted, with aromas of ripe red cherry, sandalwood, black pepper, graphite, purple flowers and damp pine needles. It’s complex, with dark red fruit and tickling cardamom spice set against fine-grained tannins. 2009 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Red Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Red Blend (92RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Quilceda Creek's 2009 Red Wine – which includes 15% of Merlot and near-negligible amounts of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc – nicely integrates preserved walnut, toasted pecan, and green herbal elements into a matrix of cocoa powder, chocolate syrup, and confitured dark berries. There is a hint of heat to the finish of this plush, plump offering, but neither that nor the wines torrefied elements detract from a torrent of sweet berry juiciness, nor preclude a sense of energy and a dynamic interaction of myriad elements. I suspect, based on intuition as well as reliable reports – although I have scarcely any personal experience as yet with older Quilceda Creek wines – that this will remain well worth following for at least a decade. The first vintage for Pavie under Chantal and Gérard Perse, the 1998 is full-bodied, showing lots of cedar wood, forest floor, roasted herbs, black cherry and blackcurrant and new saddle leather. It is quite full-bodied, opulent and seems to be just entering its plateau of full maturity, where it should last another 15-20 years. (RP)" (08/2015)

There is notably more acidity here than in the Genevrières and better persistence as well." (02/2011)

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Domaine Armand Rousseau Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru "Clos des Ruchottes" (94RP, (88-90BH)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Clos des Ruchottes is tussling with the 1996 as the best of the decade. Lucid, almost iridescent in color, the bouquet explodes across the sky with voluptuous aromas of cassis, black cherries and vanilla pod. Brilliantly defined and focused, it is utterly beguiling. The palate is very well balanced with silky smooth tannins that just glide across the mouth. Cashmere! It fans out gloriously toward its crescendo with lush plum and blackberry notes, but underneath there is a minerally core to counterbalance the sheer sexiness of this wine. Fabulous, but you need patience to really appreciate it. (NM)" (12/2013)

Bid on this bottle of 2010 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96VN). Vinous: "Not surprisingly, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is the least expressive of these wines. At the same time, so much of its appeal is in its tightly-coiled energy and tension. Cherry pit, smoke, blood orange, mint and spice open up with time in the glass, but the 2010 is clearly built for cellaring. The wine's brightness and focus are compelling, but the 2010 needs time. Loads of wet pebbles, graphite, blueberry and blackberry fruit, a full-bodied opulence, and just a killer, skyscraper-like mouthfeel and stunning finish make for one of the most provocative and fabulous wines in this portfolio. A selection of 650 cases that is about two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and equal parts (about 14% each) Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, this is one heck of a second wine. A beautifully fragrant nose of cedar wood, flowers, pepper, and spice box along with the telltale red and black fruit soars from the glass. On a much quicker evolutionary track than the Eisele Estate Cabernet, it is supple-textured as well as loaded with fruit and complexity. Bid on this bottle of 2013 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (98VN, 95RP). Vinous: "The 2013 Monte Bello is utterly spellbinding in its beauty. Finely sculpted and chiseled, with super-expressive aromatics and searing tannins, the 2013 is shaping up to be a modern-day classic. The 2013 is remarkably pure and vibrant for such a big wine. It will be years before the 2013 is close to being ready to drink. Even so, it is magnificent today. Where will the 2013 end up? The future seems limitless for now. Quite simply, the 2013 is a must-have wine. In 2013, Monte Bello is very heavy in Cabernet Sauvignon, partly because Merlot suffered in the drought-like conditions. 2008 Domaine Blain-Gagnard Le Montrachet Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine Blain-Gagnard Le Montrachet Grand Cru (98WS, 95BH). Wine Spectator: "The nose is still shy, showing some oak, but on the palate, this is like candy, all butter and cream, citrus and hazelnut, accented by mineral and oak spice. This builds beautifully on the palate, showing breed and finesse. The long, lingering aftertaste offers lemon drop and stone notes. What a grand cru should be. Best from 2013 through 2028. 10 cases imported. " (08/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The spectacular 2001 Meursault-Charmes reveals a boisterous nose of cloves, pears, spices, and white peaches. Hugely expansive, powerful, chewy-textured, and supple, this velvety wine slathers the palate with white pepper-laced apple compote whose flavors linger in its 45 second finish. (PR)" (06/2003)

Of the 1996 Robert Mondavi "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Deep ruby-red. Explosive, somewhat feral, highly aromatic nose of cassis, roast coffee, game, smoky oak and chocolate; shows a very strong torrefaction aspect. Lush, rich and deep; has a pliancy and degree of early personality I find in only the very best young California cabernets. Subtle notes of chocolate and tobacco contribute to the wine appeal. Finishes fairly tannic but very long. Distinctly more layered than the '95. (ST)" (11/1999)

2010 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru (95BH, (93-95RP), 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Bonnes-Mares is a huge, spherical wine that fills out in every dimension. It truly is captivating from the very first taste. Black cherries, plums, smoke, graphite, licorice, menthol and tar burst from the glass as the wine shows off its statuesque, towering personality. The 2010 boasts stunning richness allied to powerful tannins in a full-bodied style that is simply dazzling. This is a dramatic, thrilling wine from de Vogue, but it will test readers’ patience. Those who can find the Bonnes-Mares should forget about it for at least 15 years. (AG)" (02/2012)

2001 Domaine Jean Tardy Clos Vougeot Grand Cru "Grand Maupertuis"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Jean Tardy Clos Vougeot Grand Cru "Grand Maupertuis". Allen Meadows writes: "Jean Tardy and his son Guillaume run this small, traditional 5.5 ha domaine. Tardy is unique in that they are the last remaining sharecroppers for Domaine Méo-Camuzet (see above). The domaine leases a small parcel of Clos de Vougeot, a large one of Boudots and fully 1.5 ha of Chaumes. The terms of the métayage agreement require Tardy to deliver 50% of the crop to Méo at harvest time and he reports that the lease runs until 2007. They practice lutte raisonné (the practice of applying treatments only when a particular threat presents itself, rather than treating in advance - the theory is that the vines receive fewer treatments because not all threats materialize), short pruning and replant strictly by repiquage, or replacing individual vines rather than grubbing up parcels in their entirety; this keeps average vine age at its maximum though it's far more expensive to do.

Bid on this bottle of 2011 Domaine Georges Roumier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Cras" (93BH, 92RP, 92ST, 92VN, 91WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An ultra-fresh, elegant, cool, airy and admirably pure nose features crystal clear and transparent red Pinot fruit and essence of stone. This is still notably firm with an abundance of minerality present on the delicious, focused and beautifully well-delineated flavors that terminate in a precise, long, linear and palate staining finish. Terrific and worth a special search to find though be aware that this youthfully austere effort will required extended cellaring." (04/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Niellon Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru (94BH, 93ST, 93WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Don't miss!* Here mild reduction doesn't materially diminish the appeal of the more elegant if ever-so-slightly less complex aromas that feature notes of stone, lemon zest, acacia blossom and spiced pear. There is superb intensity and simply gorgeous detail to the mineral-driven and impeccably well-balanced flavors and explosive finale. Still, as good as this is and it is indeed exceptional, the superior complexity of the Bâtard gives it the barest of edges in 2009." (02/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Abreu "Rothwell Hyde" St. Helena Bordeaux Blend. Robert Parker marvels about Abreu's 2011s: "The work that the famous viticulturist and wine producer David Abreu does, along with his assistant Brad Grimes, is at the top of the qualitative hierarchy in California, if not the entire world. His four vineyards produce ravishing wines of great richness, complexity and aging potential. Even in vintages where others might stumble, such as 2011, somehow Abreu’s magic in the vineyard translates into wines of fabulous intensity and compelling quality in the bottle."

2010 Domaine Ponsot Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Domaine Ponsot Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru. Allen Meadows of Burghound shared the following from his time with Laurent Ponsot: "The always direct Laurent Ponsot minced no words about 2009, succinctly observing that to 'make bad wine in a vintage as good as this one you had to do it on purpose! I waited until the 26th of September to begin picking and brought in clean and generous yields that averaged around 39 hl/ha versus my usual average of about 26 hl/ha. The fruit was uniformly ripe and averaged around 14% in terms of potential alcohol and thus I obviously chaptalized nothing. In terms of the wines, for me the word for the vintage is balance. And while I have heard some people criticize the vintage for lacking a clear sense of the underlying terroir, I do not find that to be true at all, in fact I think that the wines are picture perfect in this regard.'"

Of the 2005 Bond "Matriarch" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Wine Enthusiast writes: "This year’s Matriarch is very similar to Harlan Estate in structure, and in some ways, a superior wine, or at least more delicious now. Shows the most beautiful black currant, cedar, blueberry pie and Asian spice flavors. What makes the structure so gorgeous are the firm tannins. Ultimately, it’s a refined, exquisite red wine. Hard to imagine a better one for drinking over the next decade, and just shows that price sometimes has no relationship to quality." (05/2009)

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Outpost "True Vineyard" Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard is a much more opulent wine that in many ways is less typical of Howell Mountain. It is an especially seamless Cabernet Sauvignon loaded with dark fruit, flowers and mint, all of which are supported by insistent veins of minerality. All of the flavors build effortlessly to the muscular, inviting finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021 ... (AG)" (12/2011)

Brought up all in older foudre, it's a blockbuster, almost over-the-top, effort that gives up notes of kirsch, incense, dried flowers, spice and pepper. 2007 Rudd "Oakville Estate" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Rudd "Oakville Estate" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, (92-95ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The flagship wine, the 2007 Proprietary Red from Oakville is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. A prodigious effort, it boasts a dense purple color along with gorgeously complex aromatics reminiscent of a hypothetical blend of a first-growth Pauillac and a top Graves. Notes of burning embers, forest floor, creme de cassis, blackberries, espresso, and a hint of chocolate soar from the glass of this full-bodied, well-delineated, structured wine with tremendous depth and texture. This awesome red is a future legend in the making. Give it 4-5 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following 30-35 years. 98+ (RP)" (12/2009)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Cirq "Treehouse Vineyard" Russian River Pinot Noir (OWC - 97RP, 94VN, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The larger production cuvee (1,748 cases) is the 2013 Pinot Noir Treehouse Vineyard, which comes from a higher elevation site that's above the fog line, roughly eight miles from the Pacific Ocean. Its deep ruby color is followed by to-die-for notes of black raspberries, crushed violets, cassis, spice and toasted bread. Utterly perfect on the palate, with medium to full-bodied richness, an ethereal, seamless, multi-dimensional texture, fine tannin and crazy length, hats off to the team at CIRQ for this singular beauty. 1994 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1994 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 96VN, 91ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As is the practice at this winery, they hold back 50 or so cases of their finest vintages for release after a decade. The current release of their library selection is the 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon, a magnificent effort that, for me, is one of Togni’s six or seven finest wines. Its deep plum/purple color reveals only a touch of lightening at the edge. A glorious perfume offers up aromas of plums, figs, creme de cassis, smoke, hickory spice, and high quality cigar tobacco. In a blind tasting, this California Cabernet could easily be mistaken for a great Pauillac given its structure, density, richness, and perfume. This 1994 is just beginning to move into its adolescence. Even though it has 20-25 years of life remaining, it is approachable. It is a monumental Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the valley’s legacy producers. (RP)" (02/2005)

Bid on this 6L-bottle lot of 1995 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (6L) (95JS, 95RP, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled in June, 1997, this profound Mouton is more accessible than the more muscular 1996. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 19% Merlot, it reveals an opaque purple color, and reluctant aromas of cassis, truffles, coffee, licorice, and spice. In the mouth, the wine is "great stuff," with superb density, a full-bodied personality, rich mid-palate, and a layered, profound finish that lasts for 40+ seconds. There is outstanding purity and high tannin, but my instincts suggest this wine is lower in acidity and slightly fleshier than the brawnier, bigger 1996. Both are great efforts from Mouton-Rothschild. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2030. (RP)" (02/1998)

The wine’s sheer intensity and thrust are nothing short of remarkable. Ideally, readers will give the 2001 another few years in bottle; as it is truly majestic stuff but will require patience. The 2001 Ornellaia is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wine spent 18 months in French oak (70% new) prior to being lightly fined and bottled. (AG)" (01/2010)
