2007 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 96CG, 96WS, 95JS, 94ST, 94WE, 91W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aged 24 months in new French oak, this infant 2007 exhibits an inky/purple color along with notes of graphite, spring flowers and smoky oak. This full-bodied, classic Insignia reveals fabulous depth, ripeness, texture, viscosity and richness. Still young and unformed, it should evolve for 25 or more years. Perhaps I should just go ahead and give this 2007 a three-digit score as it is a profoundly great Cabernet Sauvignon-based effort. The production was 13,500 cases of this 100% estate fruit blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. The alcohol came in at 14.5%. The growing season was nearly ideal, with early bud break, generous flowering, a bountiful crop size, and summer weather that was warm and dry with no significant heat spikes. According to the Phelps winemaking team, the cluster grape weights in 200

Layered and intricate, this is smooth, detailed and long on the finish. Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2017." (02/2010)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Rhys "Swan Terrace - Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (95BH, 95ST, 93RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Pure, expressive red fruit and floral aromas are complicated by star anise, cinnamon and allspice, with a lively mineral undertone adding vivacity. Impressively precise in the mouth, offering sappy strawberry and raspberry flavors and an intensely spicy character. The finish features a note of candied flowers and hangs on with outstanding tenacity. Remarkably delineated and vibrant Pinot Noir. " (06/2011)

2012 Caymus "40th Anniversary" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Caymus "40th Anniversary" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I am old enough to remember Chuck Wagner and his father, who I first met at Caymus in the late seventies. This is clearly one of Napa Valley’s iconic wineries, as well as one that, amazingly, never went through a bad patch. Obviously, no matter which generation is in the driver’s seat (or should I say tractor’s seat), Caymus Vineyard knows how to deliver flavor and deliciousness. " (10/2014)

2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 95JS, 95ST, 95W&S, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Monte Bello is striking. It is a decidedly muscular Monte Bello endowed with layers of dark fruit. Tobacco, mint, asphalt and crushed rocks develop in the glass, adding tons of complexity and finesse. A long, saline finish rounds things out beautifully. In 2008 the cold growing season stretched into October and the wine definitely has the feel of a cool vintage. The spring frost and the second year of drought conditions lowered yields significantly. Yields were just 1.25 tons per acre on average, but some of the older vineyards came in at less than 1 ton per acre. The balance of fruit, tannin and structure is simply extraordinary, but the wine needs time, most likely lots of it. In 2008 the blend is 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038. 97+ points. (AG)" (08/2011)

2008 Merry Edwards "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2008 Merry Edwards "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (92WE). Wine Enthusiast: " *Cellar Selection* Tight and aloof now, showing brawny tannins that accentuate the dryness, and the oak has not yet been integrated. But this is clearly a very fine wine. It’s bone dry and silky and classically structured, with a deep, impressive core of berries and cola, as well as earthy, foresty mushrooms and balsam. Needs time. Give it a good six years in the cellar. " (04/2011)

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Aubert "CIX" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93AG, (89-91RP)). Antonio Galloni: "Aubert's 2012 Pinot Noir CIX Vineyard comes across as subtle and understated in this context. A wine of silkiness and texture, the 2012 is laced with expressive dark red fruit and gorgeous inner sweetness. The flavors are dark, racy and impeccably balanced. This parcel is planted with a Vosne-Romanee suitcase clone, which seems to give the wine a lot of distinctive aromatics." (02/2014)

Of the 2007 Cayuse "En Cerise" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2007 Syrah En Cerise Vineyard (100%) is a glass-coating opaque purple color. On the nose espresso, smoked meat, olives, and garrigue-like aromas offer much to contemplate. Intense, balanced, and subtly elegant, it boasts a finish that just won’t quit. 1997 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1997 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92RP, 92ST, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard, is a beauty. The healthy ruby/purple color is followed by classic, unevolved but promising aromas of minerals, cedar, smoke, and black currants. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with admirable purity, a sweet, lush mid-palate, and ripe tannin in the finish. The top-notch 1997 is a classic, restrained. Anticipated maturity: now-2020. It is a massive Cabernet Sauvignon that requires a decade of cellaring - at the minimum. (RP)" (12/1996)

2007 Hundred Acre "Deep Time" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Hundred Acre "Deep Time" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 96RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Deep Time is gorgeous. The personality of the vintage is very well suited to the extended time in barrel (40-50 months) Woodbridge gives this wine. All the elements are in the right place. Rich, dark and sumptuous, the 2007 is totally seamless on the palate, yet at the same time, there is more than enough support from the tannins. This is yet another compelling, totally beguiling wine from Jayson Woodbridge. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2027. (AG)" (12/2012)

2002 Turley "Hayne" Napa Valley Petite Syrah
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2002 Turley "Hayne" Napa Valley Petite Syrah ((93-95RP), 94AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard (400 cases) represents the essence of this varietal. It is an intriguing, provocative effort boasting an inky/purple color as well as a sumptuous nose of graphite intermixed with melted licorice, espresso, chocolate, blackberries, blueberries, and concentrated creme de cassis. Pepper and flower-like aromas are also present, but no oak is noticeable in this massively extracted, phenomenally rich, shockingly well-balanced Petite Syrah. Its purity and palate impression are fantastic. Cellar it for 5-10 years, and drink it over the following two decades. " (12/2003)

2010 Bryant Family "DB4" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Bryant Family "DB4" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 DB4 is insanely beautiful. Crushed rocks, plums, cinnamon and licorice jump from the glass from this striking, delineated wine. In 2010, the DB4 has a level of pure energy and vibrancy that is missing in the 2009, most likely because it also includes declassified lots from the Bettina. This is a great showing from Don Bryant and his team. In most cellars, the DB4 would be the top wine, but here it is the second label. Top flight Napa Cabernet is seldom inexpensive, but this is just about as good as it gets for the money. (AG)" (12/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 1979 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red (93VN, 91WS). Vinous: "The 1979 Opus One emerges from the glass with pine, menthol, sweet red cherries, tobacco, dried flowers and savory herbs. Deceptively medium in body, the 1979 packs a serious punch on the palate, where it still has fabulous depth and remarkable vigor for a wine of its age. Sweet, silky tannins frame the gorgeous finish. What a great start to this tasting. Any remaining bottles need to be enjoyed now, but the 1979 remains superb. Tim Mondavi describes 1979 as a fairly normal year, with a little more rain than normal. 1986 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (94RP, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1986 is finally emerging from the dormant stage that many of the wines from this vintage (especially the Medocs) have been going through. It is a full-bodied, still backward wine that will appeal to classicists and old line traditionalists given its firm structure and austere tannins. Nevertheless, the color is a healthy deep garnet and the wine exhibits wonderful freshness along with notes of underbrush, damp earth, black currants, cedar and new saddle leather. Well-balanced with good depth, medium to full body, and a tannic (although not excessively so) finish, this may not be the most finesse-styled, elegant Lynch Bages ever produced, but it is an interesting Pauillac that will benefit from another 3-4 years of cellaring. While it may never hit the peaks achieved by great Lynch Bages vintages, it will be one of those rare wines that will last 40+ years." (08/2011)

2005 Sociando Mallet, Haut-Médoc
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Sociando Mallet, Haut-Médoc (92ST, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full medium red-ruby. Complex nose offers black raspberry, licorice, minerals and a whiff of leather. Brooding, ripe and deep, with terrific volume for Sociando. The black raspberry, licorice and dark chocolate flavors are full and rich but remain this side of exotic. In fact, this boasts superb balance even if it's youthfully backward today. Expands impressively on the back half, finishing with big, broad tannins and an impression of real power. Cellarmaster Faure notes that he's enjoying the '98 and '99 today, but that the 2000 and 2001 are currently quite closed. This 2005 is likely to require at least seven or eight years of patience." 2000 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (96RP, 96WE, 95WS, 94ST, 93JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In short, I find this to be a spectacular Pichon Lalande. Dense purple in color, with loads of coffee, mocha, creme de cassis, and chocolate notes, this is a somewhat unusual blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and a whooping 10% Petit Verdot, with a little bit of Cabernet Franc. The Petit Verdot certainly gives the wine more of a tapenade, floral note, which I think can be interpreted by some as herbal. This is a rich, opulent, stunning Pichon Lalande that is beginning to drink beautifully, yet should continue to improve for at least another 10-15 years and last 30 or more years." (06/2010)

An expressive bouquet redolent of sweet herbs, tobacco and incense leads to a gorgeous tapestry of dark red fruit. The Estate is drop-dead gorgeous, with the silkiest of tannins that frame an extraordinary finish. This has to be one of the most compelling values in California Cabernet. (AG)" (08/2011)

2003 Behrens & Hitchcock "Contender" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2003 Behrens & Hitchcock "Contender" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (90RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 The Contender is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot that finished at 14.6% natural alcohol. The label is an artist’s interpretation of two formidable and scary heavyweights ready to rip each other’s head off. Lots of creamy black currant fruit, spicy wood, meatiness and richness jump from the glass of this medium to full-bodied, robust, exuberant wine. A lot of fun to drink, with surprising intensity and richness, it has held up well for ten rounds – oops, I mean ten years, as it still seems to be somewhat of an adolescent with plenty of life ahead of it. This is a Rhone-like, heady, succulent blend with lots of personality as well as pleasure-giving qualities. (RP)" (06/2013)

Dark cherries, cola, mocha, licorice and tar literally explode from the glass in this full-bodied, opulent Burgundy. Even with its super-ripe, almost extreme expression of fruit, there is more than enough minerality to provide balance. Bid on this bottle of 1999 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Fay" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93WE, 92WS). Wine Enthusiast: "Entirely from a vineyard in the Stags Leap District, which is a little cooler than mid-Napa appellations. This gorgeous, sumptuous, fully ripened wine has aromas of blackcurrants, mushrooms, coffee and sage. In the mouth, it has classic cabernet flavors and structure. The tannins are a wonder, rich and thick but easy and delicious. A total delight to sip, and it will age, too." (02/2003)

Of the 2005 Far Niente Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon,Wine Enthusiast writes: "A fantastic Cabernet that stuns now for authenticity and power, and should develop for many years. Despite the large production, lower than that of many first growth Bordeaux, the wine, which has tiny amounts of Cab Franc and Petit Verdot, shows classic Oakville elegance and precision. Rich in black currants, blackberries, cherries and dark chocolate, it should hit its stride from 2011 through 2017. " (12/2008)

Round, sweet and approachable, with plum and licorice flavors. Finishes with dusty, broad tannins and good freshness and grip. Viader pointed out that both the cabernet franc and the petit verdot performed better in the warmer, longer 2002 growing season."

Of the 2007 Larkmead "Solari" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Solari Reserve is a 1,000-case blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot. While it reveals less up-front accessibility than the LMV Salon, it is a textbook Napa Cabernet exhibiting notes of high-class unsmoked cigar tobacco, blackberries, black currants, licorice, and graphite. With superb purity, elegance, density, and precision, as well as full-bodied power, this beauty can be enjoyed over the next 25 years. (RP)" (12/2009)

2004 Philip Togni Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2004 Philip Togni Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (95RP, (90-93ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Readers looking for more ripeness, opulence, and an extroverted character should check out the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which is actually a larger crop than 2005. This sensational dense purple-colored effort boasts delicious blueberry, black raspberry, cassis, licorice, and olive-like notes. In the mouth, there is more creme de cassis as well as background toasty oak, structure, and tannin. I don't think there has ever been a vintage where Philip Togni has cheated anybody on flavor intensity or tannic structure as his wines always last, even in lighter vintages, for twenty or more years. The 2004 will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age, and should last for 25-30 years. It is, atypically for the vintage, front-end loaded." (12/2006)

Well-defined Sass. Full-bodied, with sleek, refined tannins and a silky finish. All in finesse. Classy wine. Almost chewy. Reminds me of the excellent 1997, but this is slightly better. Give it time. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, it boasts a dense purple color as well as an extraordinary nose of menthol, blackberries, cassis, cedarwood, and spice box. 2001 Aldo Conterno "Cicala" Barolo (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2001 Aldo Conterno "Cicala" Barolo (1.5L) (95ST, 94WS, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Quintessential Barolo perfume: minerals, tobacco, underbrush, tar, licorice, gunflint. Then wonderfully rich and seamless in the mouth, with superb concentration and purity of flavor. Spicy red fruits emerged with aeration. Comes across, atypically, as less clenched in the early going than the Colonnello and strikingly complex from the outset, but this is nonetheless extremely young. Finishes with extremely suave tannins and vibrant lingering fruit. Great wine in the making." (11/2004)

2001 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 94WE, 93ST, 93W&S, 91JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A brilliant showing for Christian Moueix’s well-known Napanook Vineyard, the 2001 Dominus is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. A classic in the making, this is a flawless, seamless example of elegant, complex Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that possesses a Bordeaux-like personality. This gorgeous, sexy, opulent, dense ruby/purple-colored wine reveals sweet caramel, mocha, creme de cassis and kirsch notes intermixed with a hint of espresso roast as well as underbrush. Ripe, long and full-bodied with well-integrated tannin, acidity, alcohol and wood, this prodigious 2001 is drinkable now and over the next 25+ years given this estate’s longevity track record. A virtually perfect wine, it is one of the most complex 2001s at present. (RP)" (06/2011)

Of the 2001 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Connoisseurs Guide writes: "*Three stars* Pahlmeyer's wines can always be counted on for depth and drama, and this dazzling effort succeeds handsomely. Making fine use of rich oak spice, it is charged by wholly compelling fruit from front to back and, if very ripe, stays true to type throughout. Weight on the palate, it finds plenty of structure from its well-integrated tannins, and, if it is sufficiently fruity to be enjoyable now, it strikes us as a wine that will grow spectacularly for years to come." 1986 l'Eglise Clinet, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1986 l'Eglise Clinet, Pomerol (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "...It is an outstanding effort and certainly one of Pomerol’s top performers in this vintage that favored the Medoc. Still deep, dense ruby with some purple, the aromatics require coaxing from the glass. Notes of cedar, sweet plum, Christmas fruitcake, and black cherries and berries finally emerge with a hint of licorice and mushroom. The wine has excellent concentration, a medium to full-bodied, layered mid-section, and moderately high tannins in the finish... (RP)" (01/2003)

A stunningly opulent wine with a dense purple color, the 2005 possesses a beautiful perfume of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, creosote, and graphite, full body, silky but noticeable tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and a stunning, 45+-second finish.
