2005 Pax "Obsidian" Knight's Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Pax "Obsidian" Knight's Valley Syrah (96RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Syrah Obsidian Vineyard is from Knight’s Valley. This is steep hillside vineyard stuff with a dense, dark purple color, a phenomenally rich nose of brioche, acacia flowers, blackberry, and blueberry jam intermixed with some white chocolate and perhaps hints of fig and truffle. The wine is spicy, full-bodied, incredibly opulent, and thick, even unctuously textured, with great purity and richness. Moreover, the glycerin and viscosity cover up some huge tannins. This is an amazingly big, thick wine, but it still cascades over the palate like a waterfall. This wine should come into its own in several years and drink well for 10-15. (RP)" (12/2007)

1990 Taittinger Collection "Corneille" Brut Champagne (OCB)
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Taittinger Collection "Corneille" Brut Champagne in original cardboard box. Claude Taittinger was a great patron of the arts, and, as such, he began in the early 1980s to commission artwork for the bottles of some of his most exquisite wines. The highly collectible bottle was designed by Corneille, a Dutch artist known for lyrical, colorful paintings that evoke a sense of whimsy through his depictions of birds, women, and cats. According to the importers web site: "The Taittinger Collection Series bottles are released only in great vintages, from a selection of the year's finest cuvées. The wines are made from Chardonnay mainly from the Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs, and Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne vineyards." (2016)

Bid on this magnum lot of 2007 Clos du Mont Olivet "Cuvée du Papet" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (99RP, 96WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Flirting with perfection, the utterly profound 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape la Cuvee du Papet is up there with some of the greatest Chateauneuf du Papes ever made. A huge, classically styled and Provencal wine, it offers layers of garrigue, black currants, licorice, beef blood and leather, as well as building tannin, a stacked mid-palate and a finish that just won’t quit. Made from 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah that was not destemmed, it was aged in equal parts concrete tanks and ancient foudre. It’s still an infant, with sweet tannin, and needs another 2-3 years to hit full maturity, and it will keep for upwards of two decades. (JD)" (02/2017)

2004 Giancarlo Rocca "Ronchi" Barbaresco (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2004 Giancarlo Rocca "Ronchi" Barbaresco (1.5L). From importer North Berkeley Imports: "For more than four generations, the Rocca family has lived surrounded by the vines of the ‘Ronchi’ cru in Barbaresco. The vineyards are part of the family; winemaker Giancarlo Rocca can walk from his breakfast table to his Nebbiolo vines in less than a minute. Needless to say all work is performed by hand, and as naturally as possible. No herbicides or pesticides are used. Grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed, then fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks. Wines are aged for two years either in Slavonian oak casks or French oak barrels, depending on the wine. All wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered."

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Mollydooker "The Enchanted Path" Shiraz-Cabernet McLaren Vale South Australia (94RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blended of 65% Shiraz and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2010 Enchanted Path was matured for 12 months in 85% new oak (97% American and 3% French). Very deep purple-black colored, it gives notes of ripe cassis and black cherry compote over hints of smoked bacon, dark chocolate, espresso, cedar and cloves. Very full bodied, densely packed and opulent in the mouth, it has a medium level of grainy tannins, very crisp acidity and a long finish with some mintiness coming through. Drink it 2014 to 2022+. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 97W&S, 96VN, 94ST, 93CG, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While in a good year there's normally 4,000 cases of the Monte Bello, there was a scant 2,200 cases produced of the 2005 Monte Bello. Thick, massive, and concentrated with ample currants, lead pencil, licorice and chocolate aromas and flavors, this full-bodied beauty is just now at the early stages of adolescence, and has plenty of underlying tannic grip still present. It should hit full maturity in another 4-5 years and hold for 2-3 decades after that. (JD)" (10/2015)

Aromas of black fruits, violet pastille, licorice, mace and cinnamon. Big and concentrated but youthfully tough, with flavors of black fruits, spices and tar. Showing the animal side of this grand cru. Hugely tannic today, and a bit musclebound for me. But there's a lot of wine here. (ST)" (03/2004)

2011 The Mascot (Harlan) Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2011 The Mascot (Harlan) Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend. From the producer: " ... The Mascot began early on as an experiment, after talking the family and winemaking team into sparing a few barrels of wine - produced from our younger vines - to explore a blend of my own. In the first few years, before it had a label or a name, it was just a wine shared with friends and family. It wasn’t until the 2008 vintage, our first official release, that we had enough to share with new friends. Vines that have all the pedigree of the land, and would one day be considered for the 'grand vins' of our estates. This Cabernet is a hedonistic blend of power and balance; expressive and approachable early in its life, with potential to evolve well into the future. Ready to drink upon release, it will age for decades given the opportunity."

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2013 Hubert Lamy Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Chaumees" ((91-93BH), (90-92RP)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*** Sweet Spot - Outstanding *** A hint of pain grillé adds nuance to the cool and pure essence of pear and white peach suffused nose that displays a hint of lemon zest. The rich, full and more complex flavors possess a finer mouth feel along with notably better persistence on the tight, linear and beautifully balanced finish. This is a somewhat atypical Chaumées in the sense that it's chiseled and delineated rather than being plump and generous. Bid on this 5-half-bottle lot of 2007 La Ferme du Mont "Côtes Capelan" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (375ml) (96RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dense ruby/purple-colored, full-bodied 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cotes Capelan is an outrageously rich, complex wine exhibiting beautiful creme de cassis, kirsch, licorice, forest floor, and spring flower-like aromas. It is fresh, voluptuous, and opulent in the mouth, but the fresh acids and vibrancy give it exceptional precision as well as a refreshing style despite its weight, richness, and length. Dark raspberries, flowers, tobacco, mint and rose petals all meld together in a long, soulful wine loaded with personality. Today the tannins are a bit firm, but that should not be an issue in another few years, once the wine has come together a little more fully. Today the 2011 M. Etain is absolutely singing. 1999 Palmer, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Palmer, Margaux (95RP, 92ST, 91JS, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 is the greatest Palmer made since 1961, 1966, 1970, 1983, and 1989. It is one of the superstars of the vintage. The wine is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot. It boasts a staggering bouquet of violets and other spring flowers intermixed with licorice, black currants, and subtle wood. Only 50% of the production made it into the grand vin. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Fonseca 2011 is typically more forthcoming on the nose compared to the bashful Croft: a strident bouquet with lifted scents of freshly picked blackberries, kirsch, crushed stone and a dash of Hoi Sin and oyster sauce. It is very well-defined, very focused and direct. The palate is silky smooth with not a rough edge in sight, though not a typically voluptuous Fonseca because of the keen thread of acidity and the structure that lends this mighty Port wonderful backbone. A slight viscosity on the finish lacquers the tongue and indicates a core of sweet fruit is ticking away underneath that will surely explode several years after bottling. A tincture of salted licorice on the aftertaste is very attractive. This will turn out to become an outstanding Fonseca, the growing season taming its exuberance with spectacular results. Of the 2007 Montrose, St-Estèphe,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Montrose has a crisp, earthy, tobacco-scented bouquet with sage and clove developing in the glass—clearly a Saint Estèphe that is determined to succeed in an off-vintage, which this estate is masterful at doing. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin. This bottle felt compact for this vintage, one of the few 2007s that merit decanting. However, there is undeniably plenty of freshness and a welcome touch of spice towards the finish. Linear in style, this is one of the few 2007s that should improve with bottle age. (NM)" (06/2017)

Overall, the 1995 delivered a great performance for a wine that is close to being fully mature. The 1995 is a great choice for drinking today. (AG)" (10/2013)

2010 Somerston "Stornoway" Napa Valley Red Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Somerston "Stornoway" Napa Valley Red Blend (93RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Violets, black cherries, mint and graphite burst onto the palate in the 2010 Red Blend Stornoway. A powerful, vibrant wine, the 2010 stands out for its considerable structure and energy. This is a typical 2010 built on freshness, energy and length. I suspect the wine will be even better with another few years of bottle age. (AG)" (12/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 Cabernet Sauvignon-Alexander Valley exhibits a spicy, vanillin, and black olive-scented nose, rich, velvety, medium to full-bodied flavors, low acidity, and a long, lush, jammy fruit-filled finish. It does not possess any of the hard tannin or hollowness that plague many 1989s. (RP)" (10/1993)

2007 Lagrange, St-Julien
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Lagrange, St-Julien (90RP, 90ST, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Lagrange has a crisp and focused, graphite-tinged bouquet that is well defined, showing more precision than many of its Saint Julien peers. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, grippy in the mouth, with cedar and sage towards the finish. There is impressive body and presence conferred by this Lagrange that is aging with style (as this Saint Julien has a propensity to do in more challenging growing seasons). This is one to watch. 2009 Aldo Conterno "Bussia" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Aldo Conterno "Bussia" Barolo (93RP, 91JS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Barolo Bussia is a magnificent wine that makes a bold opening statement thanks to the high caliber and intensity of its bouquet. Power and sheer determination set the wine on course smoothly over the palate and the quality of the tannin is firm and tense. The wine presents fruit characteristics of dried cherry and cassis that are not too obvious but are soon followed by delicate tobacco, Indian spice, cola, tar and licorice. It’s a picture-perfect young Barolo for 2009. (ML)" (06/2013)

2012 Alban "Patrina" Edna Valley Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Alban "Patrina" Edna Valley Syrah (94RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the best entry-level wines out there is John's 2012 Syrah Patrina, and it competes with many top cuvees. All Syrah in 2012 and showing the house style perfectly, it has a saturated inky color to go with a forward, sexy, meaty and full-bodied array of creme de cassis, licorice, chocolate and licorice. Showing how good 2012 was for this estate, it's a rock-star wine to enjoy while you wait for his 2010s and 2011s to come around. (JD)" (08/2015)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Calera "Jensen" Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir (96RP, 95W&S, 94ST, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More rich and structured, yet still sexy and voluptuous, the 2010 Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard offers up a complex array of underbrush, black cherry, framboise, crushed flowers, toast and spice on both the nose and palate. Easily one of the most impressive Pinot Noirs I’ve tasted from California, this ethereally textured, tannic effort should be given 3-4 years of bottle age and then consumed over the following decade or more. 2007 St-Pierre, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 St-Pierre, St-Julien (91RP, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. I must have underrated the 2007 Saint-Pierre because this showed extremely well. This is totally different from the last showing, which was also conducted blind. It has a perfumed, quite feminine bouquet with wilted rose petals infusing the red berry fruit. This seems very composed and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, fine focus and plenty of freshness and vigor towards the lightly spiced finish. This is a very well crafted Saint Julien that should offer another ten years of pleasure. (NM)" (06/2017)

2007 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A monumental wine in the making, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of those wines that presents such an over the top array of aromas and flavors that it’s hard to figure out what you think about it with just a quick glance. It’s only with the second or third sip that you really start to see how special this effort truly is. Offering up perfumed, intense aromas of plum, violets, ink, licorice and black currants, it flows onto the palate with a massive, incredibly full-bodied texture that builds through the mid-palate and carries layers of polished tannins, awesome purity of fruit and blockbuster length. Most likely not for everyone given the sheer size, it is an incredible wine in my opinion. Still tasting like a barrel sample, it will have 30+ total years of longevity. Drink 2017-2037. Of the 2011 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon - CCS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Usually my favorite cuvee, the Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard CCS is a beauty in 2011. 2012 Rivers-Marie "Panek Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Rivers-Marie "Panek Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 92VN, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Panek Vineyard (14.4% alcohol) was aged in 70% new oak. Made from four Cabernet clones (Clones 169, 7, 4 and 6), it comes from a vineyard on the valley floor at the end of the Aida Vineyard that Vineyard 29 has made famous. Copious notes of earth, charcoal embers, wet gravel, garrigue, blackberry and blackcurrants are accompanied by a long, deep wine with sweet tannins, a fabulous mouthfeel, an opulent, velvety texture, and tremendous length as well as richness. Ginger, orange blossom and candied lemon are some of the signatures, but above all else, the Hudson is a wine of vertical intensity and power. The wine gets better and better with time in the glass. 2012 Figgins "Estate" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2012 Figgins "Estate" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend (96RP, 94WE, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Figgins 2012 Estate Red Wine is flat-out knockout stuff. Layered, gorgeously concentrated, full-bodied, and balanced, this Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend gives up sensational notes of cassis, black raspberry toasted bread and sweet spice on the nose. Ultra-pure, elegant and silky, it has the texture to drink nicely today, yet will age effortlessly for two decades or more. Coming from the higher elevation, eastern edge of Walla Walla (1500-1750 feet above sea level), it spent 22 months in 70% new French oak and 30% in once used barrels. This is one of the top Cabernets coming out of Washington and readers should not miss it. 96+ (JD)" (06/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The superconcentrated, opaque purple-colored 1990 La Mouline is closer in style to the otherworldly 1988 than I would have thought. Extremely rich, with a huge, bacon fat, toasty, cassis, and floral-scented nose, as well as phenomenally rich flavors, it is a wine known for its voluptuousness and extraordinary intensity. Lovely, sweet and ripe, very harmonious and balanced, almost delicate in its structure although it has plenty of firm tannins to keep it together. Offers lovely floral and red- and blackberry notes that aren't buried by heavy-handed use of oak. The supple, smooth finish is a palate-pleaser.
