2009 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 97WE, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Ovid is stunningly beautiful. At times it shows a little more depth, power and richness than the Hexameter, but both wines are compelling. Endless layers of fruit saturate the palate as this rich, intense wine conquers the heart and intellect. A totally vivid wine, the 2009 is even more impressive from bottle than it was from barrel. Over the time I followed it, the 2009 gained finesse and elegance in the glass, which bodes quite well for the future. Intense graphite, crushed rocks and pencil shaving nuances add energy to the polished, huge finish. 98+ Points (AG)" (12/2012)

1966 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1966 Montrose, St-Estèphe. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Montrose vertical in Stamford, the 1966 Montrose is a wine that I drank and raved about in the 1990s...Here, there are vestiges of dark berry fruit on the nose, which is now dominated by tobacco and undergrowth. It now feels foursquare and correct. Those same adjectives can be applied to the palate that has a distinct tertiary persona, slightly dry tannin and showing some attenuation towards the finish. I suspect that large formats might replicate some of the joy I found in the 1966 a few years ago, but regular bottles should be consumed sooner rather than later. (NM)" (03/2017)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Ruinart "Dom Ruinart" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (97VN, 95JS, 95WS, 94ST, 93W&S). Vinous: "The 2004 Dom Ruinart is just as brilliant and viscerally thrilling as it has always been. If anything, the 2004 has shut down considerably over the last six months. Tightly coiled and exceptionally beautiful, the 2004 boasts fabulous intensity, class and pedigree. The flavors are vibrant, chiseled and crystalline in their precision. Time in bottle is doing wonders for the 2004. This is a tremendous showing. Disgorged June 2013. (AG)" (11/2014)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Roberto Voerzio "Rocche dell Annunziata Torriglione" Barolo (96RP, 96VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Voerzio’s 2004 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata/Torriglione is a stunning effort. It bursts from the glass with soaring aromatics that lead to a beautifully articulated core of red fruit, sweet spices and mint that is buttressed by finessed, silky tannins that caress the palate. This long, pure Barolo combines the feminine qualities of Cerequio with the structure of Brunate in a compelling, breathtaking glass of wine. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (12/2007)

2013 Sine Qua Non "Male" California Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Sine Qua Non "Male" California Syrah (98RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Syrah Male is an elegant, seamless Syrah that exudes class in its creme de cassis, black raspberry, smoked meats, graphite and asphalt-laced bouquet. This is a blend of 80% Syrah, 7% Petite Sirah, 6% Mourvèdre, 3.5% Touriga National and 3.5% Viognier, fermented with 28% whole clusters and aged 25 months in 65% new French oak. 2011 Domaine Maume Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Maume Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru. Neal Martin writes of Domaine Maume: "I have a strong affection for Domaine Maume, whose unapologetically traditional, often herbaceous wines had a propensity to evolve into quite compelling expression of Pinot Noir that you either love or hate. Certainly, when I conducted a vertical of their Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru back to the mid-1980s several years ago, I was not alone in appreciating their freshness and terroir expression. They ticked enough boxes for me."

Bid on this magnum lot of 2005 Château de la Négly Coteaux du Languedoc Clos des Truffiers (99RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Flirting with perfection, the 2005 Clos des Truffiers rivals the incredible 2009, but comes in just behind the otherworldly 2001. Bottled after 30 months in barrel (with one racking after 26 months), it's an incredible Syrah that has a masculine, yet lively, fresh, and incredibly pure feel in its caramelized black fruits, licorice, scorched earth and distinct minerality. Full-bodied, lavishly concentrated, unctuous and yet still elegant and graceful, this blockbuster has another 15+ years of evolution. (JD)" (06/2015)

2013 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Up with the top three or four Syrahs in the vintage, the 2013 Syrah Sur Echalas Vineyard, which was bottled in August of last year, offers a complex, savory, mineral-laced style to go with a complex bouquet of ground herbs, pepper, beef blood, dried flower and cured meats. This is a full-bodied Syrah that has considerable mid-palate density, fine tannin and good overall freshness (although I'm sure the pH is 4 or higher). Like the 2012, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will drink well for 15 years or more. (JD)" (06/2015)

Full-bodied with extraordinary opulence as well as sweet, well-integrated, velvety tannins, this fresh, lively, blockbuster La Mission appears to be one of those rare wines that never goes through a closed, unfriendly stage. It has been a compelling, multidimensional effort from barrel, in its infancy, and as it heads into late adolescence. 2012 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (98RP, (96-98VN), 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Musigny Vielles Vignes Grand Cru from de Vogüé has slightly brighter and more vivacious fruit than J-F Mugnier, and in fact, the two wines seem to go in two different trajectories in the glass, this blossoming and the other becoming more occluded. De Vogüé's Musigny is unashamedly floral in style, very elegant and yet delineated. There is a noticeable estuary scents, mudflats and seaweed, that begin to permeate the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, wonderful acidity and succinctly integrated new oak that is barely tangible. It is intense but elegant, long and tender in the mouth. It is a fabulous Musigny, one of the best that the domaine has produced in recent years. (NM)" (10/2015)

2008 Sylvain Cathiard Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Sylvain Cathiard Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru ((94-97ST), (92-95BH)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. The nose shows a medicinal reserve to the aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, orange zest, spices and minerals. Wonderfully fine-grained, even delicate, on the palate, but with penetrating floral and mineral notes giving the middle palate outstanding energy and finesse. Less open today than the Malconsorts but even more concentrated and persistent. The rising back end offers utterly palate-staining yet incredibly subtle flavors of berries, flowers and minerals. In an ideal world, this would be my everyday drinking wine a decade hence. (ST)" (03/2010)

2005 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 96WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for one of the wines of the vintage, this stunning 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford includes in its blend some of the oldest Cabernet vines in existence in Napa Valley. It tips the scales at a lofty 15.4% alcohol, but believe it or not, it is strikingly elegant and pure, with laser-like precision. Inky, dark ruby/purple, with a stunning nose of forest floor, creme de cassis and a subtle, earthy minerality, the wine is built like a skyscraper, with a multidimensional mouthfeel and incredible complexity and richness, yet it never comes close to tasting heavy or overwrought. This is just a great terroir, great winemaking, and the results are profound. It seems to be drinkable now, but is capable of at least another 10-20 years of full-throttle pleasure. This is a superstar and a remarkable effort. Bravo! (RP) " (06/2015)

Aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice pastille. Juicy, minerally and penetrating but tightly coiled and on the lean side, in need of long barrel aging. This seems a bit less ripe than Bouchard's best domain offerings (like the Charmes, this is purchased wine), as well as more heavily extracted, even brutal. Finishes with a note of licorice and some tough tannins. (ST)" (03/2007)

2005 Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((93-95BH), (94-95RP), 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of bright red raspberry and red currant and herbal distillates inform the nose of the Potel 2005 Bonnes Mares. Remarkably smooth and polished on the palate, offering a scintillating display of smoked, peppered meats, tart berries, pungent tobacco and bitter-sweet licorice, this finishes with unusual elegance, refinement and buoyancy for a Bonnes Mares, not to mention for a wine of such sheer intensity. As with so many of the best of Potel’s 2005s, there are certainly ample tannins, but these are exceedingly refined and unobtrusive. I suspect that this is hiding significant incipient complexity and would plan on giving it a decade or more to evolve. (DS)" (06/2007)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Jacquesson "Champs Cain" Avize Extra Brut Champagne (OWC - 96RP, 95VN, 93ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From vines planted in 1962, the single-vineyard Jacquesson 2004 Extra Brut Avize Champ Cain leads with an utterly remarkable nose. A greenhouse-like profusion of leafing and flowering things is imposed over sea breeze, with jasmine; musky narcissus; nose-prickling spice as if from some exotic orchid; iodine-tinged toasted shrimp shells; and toasted grain all pungently present and anticipating the elusive complexity delivered on a caressingly polished yet consummately refreshing and almost ethereally delicate palate. Over time, the sense of creaminess and the refinement of bubbles became more evident, along with a contrasting impression of enhanced piquancy, suggesting hops and lentil sprouts, all in the context of remarkable poise and transparency to nuance. The endlessly fascinating finish remains infectiously juicy and subtly

This wine seems slightly more expansive, shares the black ruby/purple color with all of it siblings, and has a boatload of crème de cassis, incense, licorice, graphite and vanilla along with plenty of spice box and forest floor. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Palengat Proprietary Red Wine is made up of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, with the balance Merlot and Petit Verdot. Deep purple in color, it delivers a captivating nose of olives, herbs, Asian spices, blackberry, and plum. Medium to full-bodied and elegant on the palate, it has outstanding volume and concentration, an opulent texture, and a suave personality. Already complex, it will continue to evolve with another 5-7 years of cellaring. Drink it from 2015 to 2027. Quilceda Creek remains Washington's benchmark for world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the 2005 Château de Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Dent de Chien",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Knockout nose combines citrus and stone fruits, smoky oak and iodine; something Montrachet-like about this. Fat, silky and rich, with a layered texture and considerable elegance. Sweet but dry. The wine's considerable underlying power makes itself felt quite late, saturating the palate with dusty stone. 2014 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend ((95-97RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Up there with the great vintages of this cuvee, the 2014 Syrah Broken Stones offers incredible purity and elegance paired with blockbuster richness and depth. Giving up lots of sweet black raspberry fruit, crushed rock, a hint of chocolate and toasted spice, this beauty is full-bodied, unctuous and layered. I never find this cuvee to have quite as many layers as the other Syrahs, but this is beautiful. This is the only cuvee from Justin that comes from multiple vineyards. One of the superstars in California is undoubtedly the humble, soft spoken, yet incredibly talented Justin Smith, who has had the reins at Saxum since 2000. And while a lot of winemakers would have been content to stick with the tried and true at this point, Smith continues to question, experiment and fine tune everything he does. Today, his wines are much more finesse oriented, pure and graceful

It shows a touch of graphite with time in the glass, has building tannin and will keep for two decades. Looking at these latest releases from Cayuse, the 2013s are surprisingly elegant and silky, with less overall concentration and depth than I expected after tasting them from barrel last year. They possess slightly lighter, translucent colors, moderate to good concentration and polished tannin. At times I was wishing for a touch more exuberance and texture. Nevertheless, these are silky, seamless, elegant wines that will be fun to follow over the coming decade or more. The 2014s also lean toward

Deep purple to the rim with sweet blackberry, creosote, camphor, forest floor and fruitcake notes, sweet tannin and a layered mouthfeel, this wine builds incrementally offering up power, but also elegance. 2011 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this bottle of 2011 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (97RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 is a great Chardonnay Marcassin Vineyard from a much-maligned and sometimes excessively criticized vintage. 2011 has its low points, but there are many producers who got it right, and survived the challenging growing and harvest conditions. This wine has phenomenal intensity, with plenty of crushed rock, pineapple, honeysuckle, orange and tangerine blossom in an elegant, medium to full-bodied style, with terrific intensity, good acidity and freshness. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Araujo’s 2011 Sauvignon Blanc Eisele Vineyard is absolutely gorgeous. Succulent yellow orchard fruit, white flowers and freshly cut mint wrap around the palate in a wine that is at once rich yet weightless. Sweet floral notes reappear on the finish, adding lift and freshness. The 2011 is two-thirds Musque Blanc and one-third Sauvignon Blanc, fermented and aged partly in oak (23%) new and partly in steel. The blocked malo style is especially appealing here. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016." (12/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 97W&S, 96VN, 94ST, 93CG, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While in a good year there's normally 4,000 cases of the Monte Bello, there was a scant 2,200 cases produced of the 2005 Monte Bello. Thick, massive, and concentrated with ample currants, lead pencil, licorice and chocolate aromas and flavors, this full-bodied beauty is just now at the early stages of adolescence, and has plenty of underlying tannic grip still present. It should hit full maturity in another 4-5 years and hold for 2-3 decades after that. (JD)" (10/2015)

1994 Spottswoode Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1994 Spottswoode Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (99RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "1994 produced 4,863 cases from a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc. This is one of the great vintages of the 90s, and Spottswoode hit the bull’s-eye with this opaque, ruby/purple-colored wine that still has incredible youthfulness and vibrancy. Fabulous fruit intensity, blackcurrants, black cherries and blackberry, along with charcoal, chocolate and graphite, are all present in this superb, full-bodied, stunningly multidimensional wine that is only now approaching mid-adolescence at age 22. 1985 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1985 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (96VN, 90RP). Vinous: "Dunn’s 1985 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a real bombshell. Dark, sensual and beautifully layered in the glass, the 1985 is one of the more voluptuous Dunn Cabernets of this era. Graphite, smoke, licorice and graphite add nuance, while silky tannins add to an overall impression of finesse. This is another dazzling wine from Randy Dunn. The 1985 will continue to provide thrilling drinking for another two decades. The 1985 rarely fails to deliver. On this night, it is pure magic. 96+ (AG)" (09/2015)

Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 2013 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (375ml) (100JS, 100RP, 100VN, 93W&S, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Dominus is, to my way of thinking, one of the most profound wines Christian Moueix has yet made in his rather brilliant winemaking history, both in France and in Napa Valley. This wine, with very low yields of only 3,500 cases and a final blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, offers up notes of cedar wood, forest floor, loamy soil and oodles of blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. Very opaque purple in color, super-pure and intense, this wine has low acidity, but ripe, noticeable tannins. This is a 30- to 40-year wine and a profound effort from this famous vineyard in Yountville. Drink it over the next 40+ years. (RP)" (10/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Montée Tonnerre" (94BH, (93-94RP), (93-94ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Iris, narcissus, peony, heliotrope, lemon, white peach, and litchi combine for the knockout nose of Raveneau’s 2008 Chablis Montee de Tonnerre. Uncannily combining a sense of textural richness, underlying extract, and decisively stony, alkaline, chalky, oyster shell minerality that go beyond its fellow premier crus in this collection. Yet this preserves a vintage-typical core of primary juiciness that helps convey lip-smacking appeal. Musky, sweet floral notes cling to the prodigiously long, expansive, finish of this almost certainly relatively un-evolved wine. Give it several years in bottle and expect to be rewarded for over a decade. (DS)" (10/2010)
