1996 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1996 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien (92RP, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This impressive wine is a classic. Although backward, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color in addition to abundant black currant fruit intertwined with spicy oak and truffle-like scents. The wine is brilliantly made, full-bodied, and tightly-structured with plenty of muscle and outstanding concentration and purity. It should turn out to be a long-lived Leoville Barton, and somewhat of a sleeper. However, patience will be required. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2030. (RP)" (04/1999)

1993 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1993 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac ((88-90RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pichon-Baron has performed brilliantly since 1988. How many Bordeaux estates, at any time this century, can boast that their vineyard produced a wine that was among the top dozen of the region in six consecutive vintages? The 1993 Pichon-Baron displays an impressive, nearly opaque dark ruby/purple color. The pure, sweet nose of smoky wood, combined with ripe cassis fruit and spices is moderately intense. Like most 1993s containing a large percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pichon-Baron is formidably tannic and structured, but also impressively extracted and rich. While it will not possess the pure sweetness of fruit and awesome concentration of the 1989 and 1990, it is a noteworthy success for the vintage. It will require 6-7 years of cellaring and last for 20 years." (02/1995)

1966 Charles Krug "Vintage Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1966 Charles Krug "Vintage Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Eric Asimov, The New York Times: "The aroma, with its intimations of tobacco and graphite, suggested a good Pauillac, with an added touch of anise. It was lovely and graceful, tangy and deliciously fresh despite the years, and the flavors persisted in the mouth. Beautiful. It was a 1966 Charles Krug Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, the top-of-the-line wine from this historic Napa Valley producer, and if the wine was a great pleasure, I can’t say it was a great surprise...The Krug wines of the ’60s bear little resemblance to today’s Napa Cabs. It’s not just that they were so much lower in alcohol - 12 percent or so with a high in 1966 of 12.8. The wines were also fermented in open-top tanks made of redwood, a traditional material in California going back to the 19th century." (10/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 96WS, 94ST, 94W&S). Wine Spectator: "**Collectibles** This extremely dense red delivers layers of melted fig, mulled boysenberry and black currant fruit, all laced with notes of charred mesquite, hoisin sauce and Kenya AA coffee. The long, silky mouthfeel belies the latent power in reserve and there's a lot of it, with waves of grip driving the finish. Best from 2010 through 2030." (12/2009)

2008 Fattoria Galardi Terra di Lavoro
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Fattoria Galardi Terra di Lavoro (97RP). 97+ points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "Galardi’s 2008 Terra di Lavoro is a legend in the making. It is a fabulously ripe, rich and seductive wine endowed with beautifully articulated dark plums, ash, leather, licorice, all of which meld together in an explosive, utterly thrilling display of class and elegance. Clean, mineral notes frame the eternal finish. Today the 2008 is impossibly young and the wine will require considerable patience, but its class, pedigree and potential are all first-rate. Simply put, the 2008 is a monumental Terra di Lavoro. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038." Wine Advocate # 190 Aug 2010 Terra di Lavoro is 80% Aglianico and 20% Piedirosso

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Roger Sabon "Prestige" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brilliant 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Prestige (60% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, and the balance almost every other authorized red grape of the appellation) is produced from parcels that average 90 years of age or older. It reveals the essence of Provence in its dense plum/purple color and powerful aromatics of sweet creme de cassis, black cherries, licorice, lavender, pepper, and incense. The wine possesses terrific depth, a blockbuster, opulent, multilayered texture, and a finish that lasts nearly 50 seconds. (RP)" (10/2009)

2001 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino (93RP, 91ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Il Poggione’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a very distinctive nose redolent of scorched earth, tobacco and cherries initially showing a wilder side of Sangiovese in its hints of gaminess. It is full-bodied and structured on the palate, where it offers plenty of fruit, with considerable length as well as big, potent tannins. This backward, hulking Brunello is in need of considerable cellaring and is clearly built for the long haul. It is a wine of great personality and character. (AG)" (12/2006)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Cemetery (94% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot) comes from the well-known Cemetery Vineyard in St. Helena. A terrific bouquet of acacia flowers, blueberries and blackberries is followed by a layered, opulent, rich, fleshy wine with loads of fruit, sweet tannin and excellent purity as well as length. 2001 Vérité "Le Désir" Sonoma County Red Wine
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Vérité "Le Désir" Sonoma County Red Wine (97RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Le Desir (50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Malbec) came from Alexander Valley Mountain Estate fruit (two-thirds), 30% from Chalk Hill and a tiny dollop from Knight’s Valley. The most evolved of these three wines, it exhibits complex notes of spring flowers, underbrush, truffles, forest floor, camphor and red as well as black fruits. It possesses an opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel, fabulous purity and density and a long finish. The finish for all three of these wines lasts for close to a minute. Each represents extraordinary craftsmanship and, essentially, vinous confirmation of the vision of the late Jess Jackson. Those who think too many California wines are over the top may be surprised to know that the 2001 La Muse has a pH of 3.63 and a 'real' natural alcohol of 14.1%. La Joie’s pH is 3.65 and its alcohol is 14.2%, and Le Desir’

Bid on this bottle of 1996 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (95CG, 93RP, 93ST, 92WS). Connoisseurs Guide: "Back on track after its relatively austere showing the year prior, Hillside Select rebounds in 1996 with one of its richest, most succulent renditions to date. Currants, black cherries and sweet oak abound still, and the wine does a fine balancing act between being slightly supple and polished and still having an appropriate backbone of varietal tannins. It outdoes the vintage in terms of its richness and range and sheer wealth of fruit, and it has the right pieces in all the right places to grow for a good many years. " (03/2007)

Wine Enthusiast: "This is an absolutely beautiful wine to drink now, but the richness comes at the price of considerable alcohol. The color is dark and impenetrable, the aromas huge in Cabernet-inspired blackberries and black currants, with a touch of something herbal and also a stony minerality. There’s also a fascinating peatiness, like an Islay Scotch. It really opens up in the glass, becoming ever more complex. 1994 Bryant Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1994 Bryant Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A potentially perfect wine, the 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a fabulous nose of cassis, cream, blueberries, violets, minerals, and spice. It smells like a hypothetical blend of a great vintage of L'Evangile, Clinet, and Mouton-Rothschild. The opaque purple/black color is followed by a full-bodied wine stacked and packed with fruit, glycerin, and extract. No component part is out of place in this formidably endowed, remarkably well-balanced wine. The purity, richness, sweetness and depth of fruit suggest that the wine's potential is limitless. Much like its cellarmate, the 1994 Colgin Cabernet Sauvignon (also made by Helen Turley), the Bryant Family Vineyard's 1994 should evolve into one of California's legendary Cabernets. It will age effortlessly for 25-30 years." (12/1996)

It offers notes of burning embers, black raspberries, blueberries and flowers, a full-bodied opulence, wonderful intensity, but the wine is not weighty or overripe. Of the 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The Syrah releases started with the 2012 Syrah Stock. Coming mostly from the Eleven Confessions vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, it also has portions from Cumulus, The Third Twin and White Hawk. Made from 84% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Petite Sirah, 2% Viognier and the rest Mourvedre, it spent 20 months (it’s not yet bottled) in 52% new French oak. Showing the purity and suppleness of the vintage, yet with no lack of concentration, depth or richness, it gives up fabulous cassis, black raspberry, smoked meats and violet-like aromas and flavors that continue to change in the glass. 2010 Marcassin "Three Sisters Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Marcassin "Three Sisters Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Praise for the winery from Robert Parker: "The visionary husband and wife team of John Wetlaufer and Helen Turley have created a largely unprecedented legacy of extraordinary quality that is unsurpassed by anyone else in Northern California. They have built a winery in Windsor, California in Sonoma Valley with 20 acres of vines situated high above the fog line, on the Sonoma Coast. They were among the first to recognize the extraordinary potential for world-class quality wine production on the Sonoma Coast. Their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines are planted at elevations between 800 and 1,400 feet."

2005 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Cazetiers" (1.5L)
Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2005 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Cazetiers" (1.5L) (93BH, (91-93RP), 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even more concentrated and densely-constructed than the Clos du Fonteny, the Clair 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers smells of ripe blackberries, strong coffee, licorice and wet stone. Superbly-ripe but abundant tannins undergird a mouthful of ripe fruit, with strong mineral character grabbing the baton in the final lap. This embryonic bundle of fruit, mineral and energy will I suspect need at least 5-7 years to properly give of itself. (DS)" (06/2007)

1990 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1990 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (98RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In terms of the brilliant complexity and nobility of the aromatics, scorched earth, black currants, plums, charcoal, cedar, and spices, the 1990 offers an aromatic explosion that is unparalleled. It is always fascinating to taste this wine next to the 1989, which is a monumental effort, but much more backward and denser, without the aromatic complexity of the 1990. The 1990 put on weight after bottling, and is currently rich, full-bodied, opulent, even flamboyant by Haut Brion’s standards. It is an incredible expression of a noble terroir in a top vintage. While it has been fully mature for a number of years, it does not reveal any bricking at the edge, and I suspect it will stay at this level for another 10-15 years ... but why wait? It is irresistible now. (RP)" (06/2009)

Wine Enthusiast: "Corton is the largest grand cru in Burgundy (all of 240 acres) and its style can vary widely. Bouchard has gone for a relatively soft style, emphasizing fruits, raspberry, myrtle and black currants, topped with acidity. It is a light, delicious wine... " (12/2008)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine des Chezeaux (Ponsot) Chambertin Grand Cru ((92-95BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(Ponsot) Moderate reduction knocks down the nose but there is no lack of energy to the powerfully structured and constituted broad-shouldered flavors that brim with tannin-buffering dry extract and particularly good complexity, all wrapped in a textured, mouth coating and explosively long finish. This isn't necessarily particularly refined but then again one doesn't buy Chambertin expecting to find Chambolle." (01/2012)

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Bruno Clavelier Corton-Le Rognet Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes ((92-94BH), 92ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also notably ripe with black cherry, pungent earth and evident sauvage nuances that also characterize the impressively rich and seductively textured broad-shouldered and concentrated flavors that coat the palate with extract, all wrapped in a balanced, long and deep finish. I very much like the way this fans out on the finish as the breadth is inspired. Note that plenty of patience is a requisite here." (01/2012)

2009 Domaine Faiveley Batard-Montrachet
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Faiveley Batard-Montrachet ((92-95ST)). 92-95 points Stephen Tanzer: "Pale yellow. Less expressive on the nose than the Bienvenue, hinting at clove, nuts and iodine. Then rich but dry in the mouth, and much less showy than the Bienvenue, conveying a clenched, solid, almost salty impression. Very tactile, palate-staining wine with finishing flavors of crushed rock and iodine. These vines are located just under the Montrachet of Marquis de Laguiche, notes Hervet. A bruiser. Hervet notes that the Bienvenue parcel is actually lower on the slope than the Batard but that the wine is higher-pitched and finer, with less volume. Or, as he put it, "in Burgundy, the rule is that there is no rule." (Sept/Oct 2010)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine François Carillon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Referts" (93BH, 92RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Outstanding!* This offers another small step up in aromatic elegance with notes of lemon rind, white orchard fruit and dried rose petals. The rich, full and impressively concentrated medium weight plus flavors brim with dry extract that renders the otherwise moderately firm acid spine to the background yet there is no sense of heaviness to the opulent and mouth coating finish. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is more elegant still aromatically with airy and very spicy aromas of red and black fruit aromas that complement to perfection the rich and wonderfully intense flavors that exude old vine concentration and extract on the firm and gorgeously long finish. This is an impeccably balanced wine and it's rare for even an exceptional Ech to rival a fine Grands Ech but this one does." (01/2007)

Reticent but nuanced nose offers redcurrant, dried rose, mocha and sweet oak. Silky and lush in the mouth, with a creamy old-viney texture giving it more concentration and volume than the Clos de la Roche. This is altogether more lush. The long finish features very suave tannins and lingering saline and brown spice notes. (ST)" (01/2011)

2005 Domaine Gros Frère & Soeur Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Gros Frère & Soeur Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru (93BH, 93ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full red-ruby color. Medicinal black fruits, minerals, violet and menthol on the captivating nose. At once sweeter and finer than the Clos Vougeot, with a more obvious floral character, a finer grain, and a higher pitch to its raspberry and dark cherry flavors. This has a texture like liquid silk. In a supple, lush, rather feminine style, finishing with suave tannins and just enough energy. Gros says this one's a tart, and that the Clos Vougeot has more material and will be better in the long run, but today I find more precision here." (04/2007)

Violets, menthol and spices develop in the glass, adding tons of complexity and character. The aromas and flavors reach a big, expressive crescendo on the finish. Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2009 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (OWC - 98RP, 97JS, 94ST, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A dense ruby/purple-tinged color offers up notes of forest floor, subtle wood smoke, mulberries, black cherries, cassis and a hint of lead pencil shavings. There is even a floral component lurking in the intricate aromatic profile. The wine is medium to full-bodied with wonderful intensity that builds incrementally and has a long, silky, luscious finish. There is plenty of tannin, but it is largely concealed by the wine’s beautiful fruit and ethereal complexity. Given its virtually perfect balance, this brilliant Haut-Bailly should age effortlessly for 3-4 decades. This is a tour de force in winemaking, particularly for readers seeking the quintessential example of a Bordeaux that combines compelling complexity and finesse with significant flavor authority and intensity.
