1998 Dal Forno Romano Amarone della Valpolicella
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Dal Forno Romano Amarone della Valpolicella (95WS). Wine Spectator: "Complex nose, with layers of dried fruit, allspice, minerals and hints of coffee cream, tobacco and leather. 1998 Moet & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Moet & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (97ST, 95WE, 94W&S, 92VN, 91WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "The 1998 Dom Pérignon has an intense white-golden color and is beautifully clear and fine on the nose, which indicates a lovely maturity and displays grey bread, almond cake and iodine flavors, along with lemon and orange aromas. This clarity and mineral freshness proceeds on the highly elegant, finesse-full and silky textured palate, and the complexly flavored, very distinguished finish is dry and mineral, revealing a stimulating salinity and tension. The 1998 seems young still, but is certainly a great pleasure to drink and will be for many years. (SR)" (06/2016)

2001 Reignac, Bordeaux Superior
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Reignac, Bordeaux Superior (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The flagship example of high-class generic Bordeaux that is impeccably well-made by a driven proprietor, this blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon was fashioned from meager yields of 26 hectoliters per hectare. It enjoys such state-of-the-art winemaking techniques as malolactic in barrel, microbullage, and no fining or filtration. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by sweet aromas of black currants, espresso roast, chocolate, and new oak. Textured and medium-bodied, with excellent purity as well as a long, concentrated, expansive mid-palate and finish, this elegant, pure 2001 is best drunk over the next 7-8 years." (06/2004)

2008 O'Shaughnessy Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 O'Shaughnessy Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is comprised of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest six other grapes - Merlot, Malbec, St. Macaire (how often do you see that!), Petit Verdot, Carmenere, and Cabernet Franc - and is aged 20 months in three-fourths French oak. It has a dense purple color, a wonderful, crystalline nose of crushed rock, camphor, creme de cassis and spring flowers, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. The tannins are moderately high, but they are soft and well-integrated. This is a wine of tremendous intensity and plenty of up-side. Give this wine 2-3 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 20-25 years. This tiny estate has turned out a beautiful Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and a phenomenal Mt. Veeder that I certainly underrated when I tasted from barrel last year. 94+ (RP)" (12/2010)

Of the 1982 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "One of the finest examples of the 1982 vintage, this wine has been a reliable performer for over a decade. It is one of only two B.V. Private Reserves made during the decade of the eighties to merit an outstanding rating. The 1982 exhibits a saturated dark ruby color with only slight lightening at the edge. The nose offers copious quantities of sweet, jammy, red and black fruits intertwined with plenty of spicy, toasty new oak. (RP) " (06/1995)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "La Forest" (93BH, 93ST, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vincent Dauvissat’s fabulous 2009 Chablis La Forest, large-scaled but lively enough to cut through the opulent texture of the tortellini, proved a perfect foil for this rich dish. While it’s still young, I find that this particular vintage offers plenty of early appeal and is drinking quite well now; I doubt I’ll hold on to the bottles resting in my cellar for more than another eight or ten years. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Rubicon Estate "Rubicon" Rutherford Bordeaux Blend (96WE, 95CG, 95RP, 93WS, 92W&S). Wine Enthusiast: "**Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2009** Made from 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, with no Merlot or Cabernet Franc for the first time, the ’05 Rubicon tastes bigger and more impenetrable than any previous vintage. It’s thick and heavy at this time, with furry tannins and undeniably ripe flavors of blackberries, black currants, cherries, violets, chocolate and cedar, and a tang of melted minerals. Desperately needs time in the cellar. Nowhere near ready for at least four years, and that may be conservative.Tasted three times, and better each time, a seriously good sign, and potentially a perfect wine." (06/2009)

1996 Jim Barry "The Armagh" Clare Valley Shiraz South Australia
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Jim Barry "The Armagh" Clare Valley Shiraz South Australia (94RP, 94WS, 93ST). Wine Spectator: "Dark and ripe, with a polished texture and meaty flavors to go with the black plum, licorice and black pepper at the core. A big, mouthfilling, soft-textured wine, but there's a kick of acidity and a light grip of tannins to give this some serious intent on the long finish. Ends with nice tension between the two sides. This should meld together a bit more slowly than the 2001. (JM, Web-2010) "

1998 Clarendon Hills "Astralis" Shiraz Clarendon Australia
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Clarendon Hills "Astralis" Shiraz Clarendon Australia (98RP, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sensational wine, the 1998 Syrah Astralis is a candidate for perfection. It boasts an inky/purple color as well as a big, complex, sweet perfume of charcoal, spring flowers, blackberry liqueur, roasted meats, and damp, forest floor-like notes. Enormously endowed, with good acid, backstrapping tannin levels, fabulous concentration, and a layered mouthfeel, it is beginning to throw off some of its closed, impenetrable personality. A long-termer, it needs another 5-7 years to fully open, and should last for 2-3 decades thereafter. (RP)" (06/2009)

1994 Soldera Brunello di Montalcino

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most exotic, complex, and individualistic Brunellos produced, Soldera's just released 1994 Case Basse Riserva offers intense aromatic fireworks. A dark ruby/garnet color is followed by a stunning nose of spice box, cedar, soy, cinnamon, red and black fruits, earth, and truffle scents. Few wines achieve the aromatic intensity and complexity of Soldera's Brunello di Montalcinos. In the mouth, the 1994 is medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic, with sweet ripeness, a firm tannic underpinning, and a pure, concentrated finish. Drink it over the next 15-18 years. 1995 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Two stellar performances from the Jamet brothers, both the 1996 and 1995 are impressively-endowed, rich, highly-extracted yet beautifully harmonious examples of Cote Rotie. The spectacular 1995 Cote Rotie reveals an even more opaque purple color than the 1996. The wine exhibits fabulous concentration, massive body, and a finish that lasts for nearly 30 seconds. At present, it is more impressive for its potential than its current drinkability. The juicy, smoky Syrah character is well-displayed in the tar, licorice, cassis-scented nose. Thick, viscous, highly-extracted flavors are pure and mouth-coating. This large-scaled Cote Rotie will be at its apogee between 2002-2018." (10/1997)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The first vintage, the 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul is still drinking gorgeously today. Made from roughly 80% old-vine Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 10% Cinsault and aged in the oldest foudre in the cellar at that time, it sports a fully mature, amber/ruby color to go with classic notes of olive tapenade, tobacco leaf, cured meats, figs, sweet kirsch and assorted darker fruit on the nose. Full-bodied, sweetly fruited, voluptuous and layered, it's clearly at peak and in need of consuming, but will hold going forward for several years. Like with the classic cuvee, I don't see any upside. Still, this is a beautiful, mature Chateauneuf du Pape that's a joy to drink. (JD)" (08/2015)

The long, very juicy finish is multilayered and supported by fresh acidity. Drink now through 2027. (JM)" (09/2007)

Plums, black currants, blackberries, menthol, licorice and sweet herbs jump from the glass as this intense, full-bodied wine shows off its considerable personality. Layers of fruit flow effortlessly as the 2009 continues to open up over time. This is a gorgeous 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. 96+ Points (AG)" (12/2012)

This wine offers loads of nectarine, honeysuckle, liquefied rock, quince and white currants. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96JD, 96JS, 96RP, 93WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. Full-bodied and powerful, it will undoubtedly close down over the next several years, not to re-emerge for 7-8 years. 1970 Suduiraut, Sauternes
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1970 Suduiraut, Sauternes. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A deep amber colour and a Beerensauslese-lite nose that is well defined, although lacking some botrytis. There are scents of Satsuma, beeswax and just a little chlorine. The palate is commendable, well balanced, a little ginger on the entry leading to a balanced palate with orange rind, Seville orange marmalade, almost Barsac-like on the finish. (Previously - Suduiraut can make powerful, rich wines that are often rustic and excessively alcoholic and hot when young. 2008 Rudd "Oakville Estate" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2008 Rudd "Oakville Estate" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (99RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest Rudd Estate Proprietary Red Rudd has yet made is the 2008. A blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 14% Petit Verdot and 14% Malbec, it offers up aromas of blue and black fruits, charcoal, white chocolate and flowers. The soaring aromatics are followed by a wine with fabulous concentration, a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood, a brilliant texture, a fabulous personality and loads of complexity as well as full-bodied richness. This potentially legendary proprietary red already possesses remarkably sweet tannin. It will be drinkable early (because of its density, ripeness and velvety texture), but it should age effortlessly for 20-25 years. Bravo! (RP)" (12/2010)

2013 Philip Togni "Estate" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Philip Togni "Estate" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon (100DC, 100VN). Decanter: "Every time I taste Philip Togni's 2013, the more profound it seems. Bursting from the glass with complex aromas of red and black fruit, burning embers, pungent violet, rich cocoa and incipient tobacco leaf, on the palate the wine is incredibly deep, concentrated and three-dimensional. Right now it's shutting down and deserves to snooze for at least a decade before it begins to unful and reveal all its magic. Philip and his daughter Lisa are producing wines that deserve to be recognised as some of the most authoratative, classical Cabernets in all California. (WK)" (05/2016)

2010 Sloan "Asterisk" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Sloan "Asterisk" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 91VN) in original wood. Vinous: "Dark red cherry, plum, mocha, tobacco, licorice and spices flesh out in the 2010 ASTERISK. Rich, round and creamy, the Asterisk shows plenty of SLOAN ESTATE personality in a juicy, approachable style. The tannins could use another year or two to soften, but the wine's balance is terrific. The blend is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and drops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. (AG)" (11/2013)

Bid on this bottle of 2013 Domaine Roulot Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" (93ST, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, bright yellow. Subtle aromas of orange oil, honey and vanillin oak. At once sweet, silky and energetic, with intense yellow fruit, saline and honey flavors supported by a strong mineral underpinning. Finishes with palate-saturating minerality and terrific length. Roulot told me that he used a new Damy barrel with a different toast and that it resulted in a rounder wine. (ST)" (09/2015)

1959 CVNE "Viña Real" Gran Reserva Rioja
Bid on this bottle of 1959 CVNE "Viña Real" Gran Reserva Rioja (100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "1959 was one of the best vintages in the history of Rioja, even though 1958 was classified as excellent and 1959 "only" received a very good score. Nowadays most of the wines from 1959 are still in very good shape. I have been lucky enough to drink the 1959 Viña Real Gran Reserva before and some bottles had been flirting with perfection. The one that sparkled in this tasting note clearly was. The wine was not bottled until June 1968, nearly nine years after the harvest.... Imagine how they harvested those grapes in Rioja. This was an amazing vintage and this was a superb bottle, all complexity and elegance, really developed, with great acidity. It is really long and balanced, with surprising balsamic, youthful aromas. Harmonic, young but developed, intense but light, somehow contradictory, but everyone was in agreement: glasses were soon empty, the best sign for a favorite wine. Judg

2009 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (98JD, 97RP, 95WE, 94WS). Jeb Dunnuck: "Deep, meaty, and incredibly savory, the 2009 Cayuse Syrah Bionic Frog is dark ruby/purple and offers up a knockout, textbook northern Rhône bouquet of meaty black cherry fruit, pan drippings, bacon fat, peat moss, ground pepper, and searing minerality. Every bit as good on the palate, this full-bodied, structured Syrah is gorgeously concentrated and rich, while at the same time, staying very light on the palate, with brilliant focus, precision, and length. It’s the most firm and structured of the ‘09s, without much baby fat, and needs lots of air to shows at its best. It will ideally be given 3-5 years of bottle age, and should have two decades of longevity. 98+" (06/2012)

2010 Larkmead Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Larkmead Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95JS, 95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Larkmead’s entry-level 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate captivates all of the senses from the very first taste. A huge, opulent yet structured Cabernet, the 2010 shows off tons of richness, power and structure, all while maintaining considerable detail and nuance. Black currants, melted road tar and asphalt blast thorough to the intense, palate-staining finish. I can’t imagine this being ready to drink before its 10th birthday. The 2010 is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec. This is a great 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. 95+ points. I was completely blown away by Larkmead this year. The 2010s are simply phenomenal across the board. (AG) 95+" (12/2012)

1993 J.F. Mugnier Musigny Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1993 J.F. Mugnier Musigny Grand Cru (97BH, 92VN). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The intense and now slowly, indeed almost grudgingly maturing pinot fruit just explodes from the glass offering beautifully nuanced smoke, violets and a cornucopia of red fruit. The mid-palate is still relatively tight with flavors that are so precise that they seem to etch themselves into your palate before joining with a seamless finish that seems to go on and on. Mugnier once told me that this is the finest wine he has ever made and I don't doubt it for a second. This is "thrill a second" juice that should drink well for another 15 to 20 years, perhaps longer. The word "brillliant" does not seem adequate to describe just how good this wine is. In terms of drinkability, this is still on the way up though I underscore that it is approaching its prime window of drinkability. Note: While my notes are reasonably consistent with this wine, I have encountered some minor bottle variation that

1993 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1993 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru (98JG, 97VN, 96RP, 95BH, 95WS). John Gilman: " The 1993 Rousseau Chambertin is an absolutely brilliant wine, but it is so young as to border on criminal to be opening bottles today. The nose is deep, noble and primary, offering up notes of red plums, blackberries, espresso, incipient notes of grilled meats, hints of blood orange, violets, mustard seed, earth and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, tight and laser-like, with a rock solid core of black fruit, excellent transparency, modest tannins, tangy acids, and outstanding length and grip on the finish. While this wine is very impressive to drink today, it clearly is in need of another decade to really blossom and show all the facets of its precious gem-like personality. I would opt for leaving it alone until then, as there are plenty more fireworks to come down the road with this great example of the vintage. (Drink between 2015-2050)" (08/2006)

Knockout nose combines earthy nuances, floral perfume, mocha and spices; this screams out Clos de la Roche. Then wonderfully sweet and seamless, with superb inner-palate energy. Flavors of wild red fruits, mulch and wild herbs are like an essence of this grand cru site. Extremely long and subtle on the back, finishing with superb grip and sappiness. " (04/2005)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Hudelot Noellat Richebourg Grand Cru ((94-97ST), (94-96BH)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full red-ruby. This is pure sex appeal on the nose: black raspberry, coffee, minerals, grilled oak and smoke, with a piquant topnote of blood orange. Large-scaled and utterly seamless, filling the entire mouth with black cherry, blackberry and black raspberry perfume. As powerful as this is, there's no undue weight here owing to the wine's outstanding vibrancy and aromatic lift. Boasts great volume and palate-staining persistence, with the noble tannins buried under a wave of fruit. (ST)" (03/2007)
