2004 Sine Qua Non "Into the Dark" Central Coast Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Sine Qua Non "Into the Dark" Central Coast Grenache (99RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More up-front and open-knit, the 2004 In the Dark (Grenache) checks in as a blend of 84% Grenache, 8% Mourvedre, 7% Syrah and 1% Viognier that comes mostly from Manfred’s 11 Confessions Vineyard, yet includes small portions from Alban (10%) and Alta Mesa (9%) Vineyard. Reminding me of Clos Saint-Jean’s Sanctus Sanctorum with its incredible bouquet of sweet kirsch, licorice, dried baking spices, graphite and ground pepper, this beauty flows onto the palate with impeccable purity, perfect integration of its fruit, tannin and acidity, and blockbuster length. As is common with this estate’s wine, it’s the purity paired with serious richness that sets it apart. While still youthful and benefiting from a healthy decadence, I think it’s drinking at point and would aim to drink bottles over the coming 4-5 years. It will evolve gracefully for longer, but I see no reason t

2012 Aubert "CIX" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Aubert "CIX" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (99RP, 95VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mark Aubert is one of the contenders for California’s finest practitioner of Burgundian-styled, yet classic, California Chardonnays. His offerings are all made like grand cru Burgundies with full malolactic, the use of French oak and lees stirring, but the purity of fruit, the textural dimensions, and the stunning singularity of these Chardonnays can only be matched by a handful of other Chardonnay producers in the world. He’s that good. (RP)" (12/2014)

2011 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 95VN, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brilliant 2011 Syrah Broken Stones comes from a cooler block of the James Berry Vineyard and checks in as a blend of 78% Syrah, 18% Mourvedre and 4% Petit Sirah. Relatively forward (especially when compared to the locked up Bone Rock), with fabulous purity and freshness, it exudes notions of creme de cassis, blueberry, pepper, crushed flowers and sweet oak on the nose. Full-bodied, seamless and elegant, yet with building richness and rock star length, it’s an elegant version of the cuvee to drink over the coming 15 years or more. (JD)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Paolo Scavino "Cannubi" Barolo (96RP, 95JS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Cannubi is a massive, imposing wine, as so many Baroli from this site are in 2007. This is a remarkably primary unevolved Barolo that impresses for its seamless fruit and breathtaking richness. With time in the glass, the wine's aromatic nuances finally emerge, giving a brief glimpse of what is to come over the following years. This is a totally complete, mesmerizing Barolo from Scavino. 2011 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (94RP, 94VN, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Pinot Noir Kistler Vineyard (made primarily from the Calera clone), which sees one-third new oak and is 100% destemmed, possesses lots of raspberry and black cherry fruit intermixed with hints of underbrush and forest floor, and a nice meatiness to its texture. There has been a progressive trend by Kistler’s winemaking team and owners to harvest at slightly lower sugars, back off slightly on the percentage of new oak used, and bottle their wines earlier. All of this is designed to preserve as much fruit and freshness in the wines as possible. (RP)" (12/2013)

Smoky cherry and dark berries on the deeply pitched, highly aromatic nose. Powerful black raspberry and Indian spice flavors stain the palate, picking up a suave floral pastille nuance with air. Always elegant but with authoritative flavors, the 2005 is dry and shows hints of figs, honey, melon-like fruit, and citrus blossom. 2014 Cayuse "Camaspelo" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend (OCB)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Cayuse "Camaspelo" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend ((95-97RP)) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot that’s aging in 30% new French oak puncheons, the 2014 Camaspelo offers lots of cherry pit, black and blue fruits, violets and spice characteristics in a full-bodied, silky, polished style. It shows a touch of graphite with time in the glass, has building tannin and will keep for two decades. Looking at these latest releases from Cayuse, the 2013s are surprisingly elegant and silky, with less overall concentration and depth than I expected after tasting them from barrel last year. They possess slightly lighter, translucent colors, moderate to good concentration and polished tannin. At times I was wishing for a touch more exuberance and texture. Nevertheless, these are silky, seamless, elegant wines that will be fun to follow over the coming decade or more. The 2014s also lean towards the more

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Nearly exaggerated levels of intensity, extract, and richness are apparent in this opaque blue/purple-colored wine. Sumptuous aromas of blueberries, blackberries, and cherries combine with smoke, licorice, vanillin, and truffles to create a compelling aromatic explosion. The wine is fabulously dense, full-bodied, and layered, with multiple dimensions, gorgeous purity, and superbly integrated acidity as well as tannin. 1977 Clos du Val Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this 1.5 liter 1-bottle lot of 1977 Clos du Val Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L). After a two-year mission commissioned by American businessman John Goelet to find a new site with potential for making world-class wines, French-born winemaker Bernard Portet chose what would eventually be called the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley for its cool evenings and terrain. The 150-acre parcel that Goelet purchases became Clos du Val, a "small estate of a small valley." Producing classically styled wines of balance, elegance and complexity has been the winery's goal ever since. This 1977 is a part of California's winemaking history. 2009 La Gaffeliere, St-Emilion (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2009 La Gaffeliere, St-Emilion (1.5L) (95 RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An absolutely spectacular effort, the 2009 is one of the all-time great La Gaffelieres produced. One would have to go back to the 2005, 1947 or 1961 to find this level of quality from this ancient, historic vineyard planted adjacent to the walls of St.-Emilion, on the Cote Pavie. Composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 reveals compelling elegance, tremendous intensity and opulence and more viscosity than one normally sees. Lots of kirsch, licorice, incense, truffle, asphalt, blackberry and cassis notes dominate the aromatics and flavors of this full-bodied, viscous, fabulously pure, flamboyant St.-Emilion. Drinking it now may be considered infanticide by some consumers, but it is already attractive, and should last for 3-4 decades. 95+ (RP)" (02/2012)

Opaque ruby/purple, with notes of espresso roast, white chocolate, licorice and unsmoked tobacco as well as a restrained hint of barbecued smoke, the wine is layered, rich, full-bodied, and impressively endowed. Its inky ruby/purple color is followed by incredible notes of cassis, black currants, smoked herbs, licorice and graphite. These give way to a full-bodied, utterly seamless Cabernet that has full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin and a killer finish. Deep purple-colored, the wine presents aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, scorched earth, black currant, plum, and blackberry liqueur. The wine makes a powerful entry onto the palate with great concentration, serious depth, and opulence. The flavors reveal spicy, savory black fruits with a note of chocolate in the background. Long and complex, this superb Reserve is another tour de force for Leonetti Cellar. Give it 5-7 years in the cellar and drink it from 2015 to 2030. (JM)" (06/2008)

2005 Vérité "La Joie" Sonoma Red
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Vérité "La Joie" Sonoma Red (100RP, 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The myth perpetrated by Old World wine proponents is that California wines don’t age. Those critics need to taste Verité, because these wines are aging far slower than I imagined. The 2005 La Joie (67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec) tips the scales at 14.7% alcohol. It received the same 18 months in 100% new oak. It is interesting that Pierre Seillan said that he thought the high-elevation vineyards of Sonoma that go into Verité (self-serving, os course) are his greatest sites in the world for Bordeaux varietals. But remember – he’s from Bordeaux! This multidimensional wine, which enjoyed a 4-5 day cool, pre-fermentation maceration, has a provocative bouquet of blackberry, cassis, new saddle leather, Christmas fruitcake, graphite and high-quality unsmoked cigar tobacco. It is profound, extremely full-bodied and massive in the mouth, b

Of the 2002 Arrowood "Reserve Speciale" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Made from the estate’s finest fruit and aged 23 or more months in a combination of French and American oak, it comes from multiple sources in Sonoma, including the Monte Rosso Vineyard (now owned by Gallo). Full-bodied and opulent, with some tannin still to be shed, it is a classic, All-American style of northe

Of the 2005 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2005 Troplong Mondot is a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. It was emotional tasting this wine, thinking of the late Christine Valette, who made this compelling wine while battling with considerable courage against an insidious disease. It is a great effort and a superstar of the vintage. Dense purple, it offers notes of white chocolate, blackberry, cassis and licorice as well as a hint of truffle and some subtle background oak. Full-bodied, multi-layered, and spectacularly pure and rich, it is a tour de force, and a great tribute to an incredible woman ... (RP)" (06/2015)

Tasted beside her regular '01 Napa Cab, it's much deeper, darker and more brooding. It's also far more tannic. It's a big, flavorful wine, packed with plums, blackberries, currants and mocha, as well as a coating of sweet oak. This classic Cab should begin to soften in a few years and will drink well through 2012." (12/2005)

2006 Vietti Barolo "Rocche"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Vietti Barolo "Rocche" (97RP, 92WS). 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "The 2006 Barolo Rocche shows incredible definition in detail in its perfumed, floral personality. The 2006 is not as explosive as the 2004 was at this stage, but it is eerily reminiscent of the 1989 in its sweet, Pinot-like fruit. With time in the glass, the fruit gains even more clarity while the bouquet blossoms with incredible grace, all supported by ultra-fine, silky tannins. Today the Rocche is soft and relatively accessible, but it is sure to firm up in bottle. In 2006 the Rocche saw 30 days of maceration on the skins and was aged predominantly in cask with a brief spell in French oak in between for the malolactic fermentation, a blend of traditional and modern approaches that has yielded phenomenal results here. Of course, everything starts in the vineyard, and Vietti’s commitment to low yields means that they are among the first growers to harvest in most vintages. Ant

Of the 1999 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L),Vinous writes: "The tasting ends on a high note, as the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is deeply expressive, despite its obvious youth. Here it is the wine's sense of energy that stands out most. Vivid, nuanced and structured, the 1999 is a wine to cellar for another 5-10 years at a minimum to allow the flavors to flesh out. 2012 Bedrock Wine Company "Weill Vineyard-Exposition One" Sonoma Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Bedrock Wine Company "Weill Vineyard-Exposition One" Sonoma Valley Syrah (97RP, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The “2012 Proprietary Red Weill Vineyard Exposition Project Trio” is three incredible wines from Sonoma County. This is Twain-Peterson’s take on the three LaLa wines from the Guigal family in Côte-Rôtie. He is emphasizing distinct clonal terroir and exposition differences as well as vinifying the wines separately. All three of the following wines were aged 36 months in 100% new French oak. The 2012 Proprietary Red Weill Vineyard Exposition 1, from an east-facing steep slope, is 100% Syrah and 100% whole-clusters. The wine flirts with perfection, with beautiful notes of roasted meats, new saddle leather, black olive tapenade, cassis and blackberry soaring from the glass of this dense purple blockbuster. It’s full-bodied, massive and just incredible. I suppose this would be the La Landonne version of what Peterson is trying to produce. (RP)" (1

Of the 1992 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 1992 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was released in August, 1996, and was sold out within 24 hours. It possesses that tell-tale Silver Oak, lavishly oaky, Provencal herb, sweet, smoky, jammy black-cherry and cassis-scented nose. Full-bodied, opulent, and succulent, this creamy-textured, luscious, low acid wine should continue to drink well for 10-12+ years. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Scarecrow "M. Étain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 94RP, 91ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine that captures the essence of the vintage, Scarecrow's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon M. Etain literally bursts from the glass with vivid, beautifully articulated fruit. Black cherries, raspberry jam, plums, espresso, menthol and rosemary are just some of the many nuances that take shape in the glass. The 2010 is rich, full-bodied and beautifully layered from start to finish. Another year or two in bottle should help the firm 2010 tannins soften a touch. Bid on this 375 ml 6-bottle lot of 2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml) (100RP, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Alvear’s 2011 Pedro Ximenez de Anada is the most amazing Pedro Ximenez I have ever tasted. It may also be one of the first to be vintage-dated. The grapes were hand-harvested in September, then allowed to dry in the sunshine until they began fermentation, which is ultimately arrested by the addition of spirits. The wine spent six months in large American oak prior to being bottled. It is an amazing effort that looks like molasses. Notes of macerated figs, chocolate and caramelized tropical fruits emerge from this full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine. While sweet, it has enough acidity to balance out its richness. This astonishing 2011 Pedro Ximenez will last as long as any reader of this newsletter. (RP)" (11/2013)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Blankiet "Rive Droite - Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, (92-94ST), 94VN, 92JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another compelling wine was the 2012 Rive Droite, which is Blankiet’s homage to Right Bank Pomerols from Bordeaux. A blend of 95.8% Merlot and 4.2% Cabernet Franc, there are 380 cases of this sexpot of a wine. This could easily be mistaken for a Napa Valley version of Petrus. Loads of mulberry fruit, licorice, crème de cassis, mocha and toffee are present in this huge, full-bodied, super-opulent and luscious wine. This is about as seductive and rich as dry wine can be, and the wine can be drunk now or cellared for another 15-20 years. This is a killer effort! (RP)" (12/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I had this wine from my cellar, as well as at a tasting in Zurich in February of 2015. It is one of the handful of 2003s I bought from the Right Bank of Bordeaux in this vintage. Angelus really nailed the vintage, and has produced a fully mature wine that’s truly strutting its stuff. Dense, bluish/purple, it offers gorgeous notes of espresso roast, blackberry and blueberry liqueur, acacia flowers and a touch of chocolate. It is full-bodied, opulent and seems close to full maturity, as it is evolving quickly. The wine is full-bodied, rich and should be drunk over the next decade. (RP)" (08/2015)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Elio Grasso "Gavarini Chiniera" Barolo (98RP, 98VN, 95WE, 95WS, 94JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Barolo Gavarini Chiniera is an amazing wine born 430 meters above sea level from white limestone and sandy soils. The elegance expressed by the wine is unforgettable. It opens to a pretty garnet color with ethereal tones of licorice and balsam herb with sharp, delineated contours. This vineyard is usually harvested later than the others, so the growing cycle is extra long and steady. The wine is silky, finessed and profound. (ML)" (07/2014)

2007 Cakebread "Dancing Bear Ranch" Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Cakebread "Dancing Bear Ranch" Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dense purple-colored 2007 Dancing Bear Ranch Proprietary Red (80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc) reveals more chocolate fudge and coffee notes. It does not have the nuances or complexity of the Benchland Select or the sheer joy of the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, but there is a lot going on in this cuvee. Slightly monolithic, it is well-endowed, rich and full, so my rating may be slightly conservative. 91+ (RP)" (12/2010)

The flavors are intense and concentrated, yet also incredibly nuanced. Firm tannins give the wine an extra kick of energy on the sculpted finish. Bid on this bottle of 2008 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon, CCS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For some reason I have a sweet spot for Schrader’s 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon CCS, which, like the 2007, merits a perfect rating. That should set up some very interesting competitive tastings in the future. Made from a particular block of Clone 4 planted in the Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard, there is something just broader, deeper, more multidimensional and more subtle without losing any of the great intensity, purity and richness these wines possess that gives the CCS an amazing character. Keep in mind, as my editor pointed out to me, this is the third straight vintage of this cuvee to merit a perfect score, which must be the first of its kind in 32 years of critiquing wines. Blueberry pie intermixed with creme de cassis, licorice, subtle oak and forest floor notes are followed by an extraordinary wine of staggering richness, luxurious fruit and se
