2010 Carlisle Tasting Lot
Bid on this 3-bottle 2010 Carlisle Tasting Lot, including 2-bottles of 2010 Carlisle "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (92RP, 90WS) and 1-bottle of 2010 Carlisle Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah. Of the 2010 Carlisle "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Smoke, tar, incense, licorice and game literally explode from the glass in the 2010 Syrah James Berry Vineyard. A deep, imposing wine, the 2010 shows the more masculine side of Syrah in its flavor and structure. Big tannins frame the broad, explosive finish. This isn’t a subtle wine by any means, but it is full of personality. The James Berry Syrah was made with about 17% whole clusters. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025. (AG)" (04/2013)

2011 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac (91RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An amazing effort in this vintage, La Vieille Cure has been one of the top 3 or 4 Fronsacs in most recent vintages. The 2011 is fashioned from 75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Many consumers will probably drink this wine entirely too young (and I have no problem with that), there is no doubt it has serious aging potential. A true revelation, this sleeper of the vintage is one of the finest wines money can buy. The dense ruby/purple color is followed by a sumptuous palate impression of silky black cherries and blackberries intermixed with wild strawberries. Opulent and rich with the abundant glycerin and lavish concentration concealing moderate tannins, this is a sensational effort in this challenging vintage. With nearly 14% natural alcohol as well as tremendous ripeness, it should drink well for 10+ years. This sleeper of the vintage merits consumer attentio

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Péby Faugères, St-Emilion (96RP, (90-91ST), 90JS, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The luxury cuvee from Faugeres (owned by Bernard Magrez), the 2000 Peby Faugeres is the real deal. Sadly, only 500+ cases were made of this compelling St.-Emilion. An inky/blue/purple hue is accompanied by aromas of espresso roast, blueberry liqueur, smoke, and graphite. Thick and unctuously-textured with impressive purity and depth as well as full-bodied power and richness, it needs another 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last for two decades. (RP)" (06/2010)

1996 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien (93RP, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Leoville Barton appears more youthful than the 1996 Langoa Barton in the glass with a healthy deep garnet core. The aromatics unfurl gracefully in the glass revealing briary, wild hedgerow, black truffle and sandalwood scents -- firmly in secondary aroma stage but with appreciable presence and intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin that form its firm and classic structure, spice, white pepper and cloves infusing the slightly animally red berry fruit. This is an adorable Léoville Barton that is occupying a very 'happy' place at the moment -- superb precision, old school claret at its best. Decant for an hour no more, then enjoy. (NM)" (10/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Domaine Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru "Clos des Epéneaux" (93VN, 92BH, 90RP). Vinous: "Bright medium red, with little sign of amber. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, cinnamon, mocha, leather and earth, with complicating ferrous notes of iron and tobacco. Wonderfully silky and fine-grained, showing lovely class and lift to its red fruit and spice flavors. Not a powerhouse but remarkably suave and smooth for Pommard. Yet, it’s still mind-boggling, rich and full with blue and black fruits, white flowers and incredible, full-bodied, unctuosity. (RP)" (12/2015)

Expressive floral notes open into sweet apricot, peach, spice and pastry notes in a Champagne that captures the radiance of the year while maintaining a lively sense of energy. Dark, jammy fruit, chocolate and spice notes are fused together in the glass. This is absolutely delicious Napa Valley Cabernet made in an opulent, flamboyant style. It will drink well with minimal cellaring. In my view, the appellation Cabernet is the hidden gem in this lineup. Dollops of Merlot and Petit Verdot round out the blend. Medium to dark amber/gold, this full-bodied, massive wine has a very intense bouquet of vanillin oak, ripe pineapples, and melted caramel. The wine possesses exceptional richness, full body, ripe tannin, and a blockbuster finish. Approachable now, it promises to evolve for two decades. Dalla Valle has propelled itself into the top echelon of California Cabernet Sauvignon and proprietary red wines. The owners, Gustave and Naoko Dalla Valle, are admirably supported by winemaker Heidi Barrett (the wife of winemaker/proprietor Bo Barrett of Chateau Montelena). I must admit that I purchased more of the 1985 and 1987, somehow neglecting to secure much of the 1986. Do I feel stupid? As I have written so many times in the past, every time I do a vertical tasting of Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignons, they taste better than my initial laudatory notes suggested. This great wine exhibits a black/purple color, a fabulous, sweet, pure, cassis-scented nose, massive body and richness, and total harmony among its components - fruit, wood, alcohol, acidity, and tannin. Still exceptionally youthful and vigorous, with no signs of age in either its color or taste, this 1986 could easily pass for a 3-4 year old California Cabernet. It is an extraordinary effort that appears to be a legitimate candidate for the 'wine of the vintage.' So what's new? Owners of this beauty should try a bottle for its

Of the 2004 Kilikanoon "Parable" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "While it’s splitting hairs, I thought the 2004 Shiraz Parable was slightly better than the Testament. Made from two vineyards, 35- and 45-years-old, it was given an upbringing similar to that of the Testament cuvee, but seems to possess slightly more aromatic nuances, and just as much body, concentration, and intensity. It also may reveal more floral, blue, and black fruits in the mouth. (RP)" (10/2006)

2000 Château la Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2000 Château la Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (92WS, 90ST). Wine Spectator: " *#9 on Top 100 of 2002, Spectator Selection* Big wine, but so refined and sleek, it comes across as delicate on the palate. Plenty of finely tuned oak, with vanilla, chocolate and mocha aromas that blend into the sweet red and blackberry to produce a classy and satiny wine that is surprisingly aristocratic for this appellation. Like a charming red Burgundy from Chambolle-Musigny. " (08/2002)
