2010 Kosta Browne "Keefer Ranch" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Kosta Browne "Keefer Ranch" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (94CG, 93ST, 93WS). Connoisseurs Guide: "If at first a bit lighter and hinting of fresh raspberries, cherries and candied violets in the nose, this lovely Pinot proves to be surprisingly juicy and energetically fruity in flavor with lots of depth and a real sense of grace. Its subtle oak is wholly obeisant to fruit, and it is both rich and very lively. It is a fine and vibrant expression of what Russian River Valley Pinot can be, and it affords both delicious drinking now and potential for four or five years of growth." (10/2012)

2003 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Absolutely superb, this 2003 is drinking beautifully. This blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot from the famous hillside Eisele Vineyard in northeast Napa Valley tips the scales at 14.5% natural alcohol. Gorgeously fresh black currant and black raspberry notes intermixed with spring flowers and forest floor jump from the glass from one of the most aromatically complex wines of the vintage. Medium to full-bodied with sweet fruit, velvety, melted, integrated tannin, a round, generous mouthfeel and no evidence of oak, this is a classy, elegant as well as substantial beauty that continues to age well. It may even be superior to Araujo’s 2002, which, on paper, is a better vintage. The seductive, alluring 2003 should remain at this level for another 5-8 years, but there is no reason to defer your gratification. Bravo! (

2012 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 93WE, 93WS, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Cask 23 reveals more oak on the nose, but is a much deeper, richer, fuller wine than the S.L.V. Dense ruby/purple to the rim, beautiful blackberry and cassis fruit, cedar wood, toast and earth jump from the glass. Full-bodied and layered, but with nothing out of balance, this is probably the strongest Cask 23 since the glory years of the mid-80s. Look for this wine to drink well young, yet age effortlessly for 25 years. (RP)" (12/2015)

2002 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More serious and foreboding as well as opulent and close to full maturity is the sexy, voluptuously textured, deep, concentrated, dense plum/purple-colored 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. Fashioned from the estate’s finest Cabernet lots, it possesses terrific ripeness, a silky, plush texture, a big, full-bodied, broad, savory, deep, well-textured mouthfeel, and a 45-second finish. This gorgeous wine will offer both intellectual and hedonistic pleasure for another 12-15 years. This enviable and venerable winery high on top Spring Mountain straddles the Napa and Sonoma county lines. These three sensational 2002s are all capable of lasting another 10-15+ years. Vinous: "Espresso, mocha, cloves, violets and plums all meld together in the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Backus Vineyard. Rich, sumptuous and layered, the 2010 boasts tons of depth and pure structure. Much more expressive than the 2010 Insignia is today, the Backus is relatively open at this stage. At the same time, though, the underlying structure suggests the 2010 will drink well for many years. 2011 Sine Qua Non "The Moment" California White Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2011 Sine Qua Non "The Moment" California White Blend (95RP, 94VN, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Starting off the tasting and a prodigious, unctuous white, the 2011 The Moment checks in as a blend of 57% Roussanne, 19% Petit Manseng, 17% Chardonnay and 7% Viognier that spent 16 months in a combination of concrete, new and used barrels, and stainless steel. Offering up notions of marzipan, citrus oil flowers, marmalade and spiced apricots, it flows onto the palate with full-bodied richness and depth that's balanced by beautiful underlying freshness and clarity. While I would lean towards drinking bottles over the coming 2-3 years, these can absolutely age, and have upwards of 10-15+ years of longevity. Drink now-2017+. (JD)" (08/2013)

Made from 79% Syrah, 7% Petite Sirah and the rest Grenache, Mourvedre and Roussanne, it offers up full-bodied, decadent, yet incredibly pure notes of creme de cassis, smoked earth, pepper and violets. Seamless and silky, yet with a great mid-palate and notable tannin, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will have 15 years or more of overall longevity. (JD)" (08/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard, located in the Red Mountain AVA, is 100% varietal. Dark ruby/purple in color, it delivers an enticing nose of pain grille, pencil lead, earth notes, spice box, violets, and assorted black fruits. On the palate it is dense, ripe, full-bodied, and structured. Still a bit tightly wound, it will reveal its full potential with another 5-7 years of cellaring. There's substance in the tannic structure underneath, with an earthiness and acidity-somewhere between pine and lemon-to keep the tannin fresh. The texture incorporates both the delicate fruit and the earthy tannin, needing cellar time to bring the two into greater harmony." (04/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Nuits St. Georges Les Cailles bursts from the glass with an exciting melange of smoky dark fruit, new leather, tar and licorice. It is another implosive, young wine that will require considerable patience. The energy and verve both bode well for the future. 1977 Heitz "Bella Oaks" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1977 Heitz "Bella Oaks" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93JG). John Gilman: "I had not tasted a bottle of the 1977 Bella Oaks since early 2013 and the wine has blossomed nicely since that last bottle and is far better than I initially imagined. Four and a half years ago, I wondered if the wine would ever fully blossom from behind its remaining tannins, or if the wine was always going to be a bit bound up in its structure from the second straight drought vintage in Napa. Clearly, the wine just needed time and this most recent bottle was really wide open and showing beautifully, offering up a superb nose of cherries, blood orange, a touch of sealing wax, cigar smoke, red curry, a touch of new oak and a beautiful base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and tangy, with impressive depth at the core and lovely complexity. There is still just a touch of backend tannin on the very long, well-balanced and classy finish. Fine juice that I clear

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (97ST, 97WE, 94JS, 94WS, 93RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby-red. Captivatingly intense yet refined aromas of ripe red cherry, mint, smoke and black truffle, complicated by lovely mineral and floral elements. Ripe, rich and velvety on entry, then concentrated in the middle, with flavors of red cherry, cassis, spices, bay leaf, dark chocolate and espresso. Amazingly well balanced and fresh wine, with sound, bright acids supplying wonderful lift and precision and smooth, noble tannins adding considerable power and grace. The finish goes on for minutes, highlighted by an enchanting floral-mineral quality; in my experience, the appearance of this strong floral component (in the absence of herbal or peppery aromas and flavors more typical of lesser vintages) at this early stage of development is typical of the greatest versions of Sassicaia. One of the top dozen Sassicaia bottlings ever." (01/2011

An exotic, layered wine, the 2011 impresses for its length and pure persistence. The style is that of a cold year, which means the tannins are a bit firm and in need of further bottle age. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Caymus "40th Anniversary" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1L) (96RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "They appear to be immune to some of winedom’s less than intelligent trends and fads that we see from time to time, and the result is a spectacular 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon 40th Anniversary offering. Its dense purple/black color is followed by copious quantities of crème de cassis and blackberry fruit, silky tannins, a voluptuous texture and stunning purity as well as length. This full-bodied effort is a fabulous example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a tribute to this amazing family. It is so good now, why wait? However, I’m sure that like most vintages of Caymus, it will last for 20-25 years. Amazing! (RP)" (10/2014)

2012 Aubert "Lauren Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Aubert "Lauren Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (98RP, 95VN, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Note from 2013 review, re-reviewed with no new note in 2014: We finished the Chardonnay portion of the tasting with Mark Aubert’s favorite wine, the 2012 Chardonnay Lauren Estate, which comes from rich Goldridge soils. There are 1,000 cases of this straw/greenish-colored beauty fashioned from various clones, including the Old Wente, Hyde, Hudson Corton-Charlemagne selection and the Mt. Eden clones. It possesses more of a tannic backbone than its siblings because of its grip. Full-bodied with lots of honeyed citrus, orange marmalade and abundant fruit on the attack and mid-palate, this youthful Chardonnay seems barely touched by its oak aging. All of these 2012s will be irresistible when released in 2014, but should age beautifully for 6-10+ years ... (RP) 98+" (12/2014)

2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml)
Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml) (100RP, 94WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Alvear’s 2011 Pedro Ximenez de Anada is the most amazing Pedro Ximenez I have ever tasted. It may also be one of the first to be vintage-dated. The grapes were hand-harvested in September, then allowed to dry in the sunshine until they began fermentation, which is ultimately arrested by the addition of spirits. The wine spent six months in large American oak prior to being bottled. It is an amazing effort that looks like molasses. Notes of macerated figs, chocolate and caramelized tropical fruits emerge from this full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine. While sweet, it has enough acidity to balance out its richness. This astonishing 2011 Pedro Ximenez will last as long as any reader of this newsletter. (RP)" (11/2013)

Wine Spectator: "There's lots of spices—white and black pepper—but also plenty of grapey dark berry, red licorice, herb, mineral and cedar notes. Very complex, full-blown and well-balanced, becoming even more complex on the finish, where the flavors unfold to reveal subtle nuances. (JL)" (03/2009)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Anderson's Conn Valley "Estate Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95VN). Vinous: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve is fabulous. It is also the best of the 2010s at the estate. A rich, powerful Cabernet, the 2010 captures the essence of the vintage. Dark cherry, plum, smoke, spices and tobacco all take shape in the glass. Today, the 2010 is firing on all cylinders. A huge, explosive finish rounds things out in style. (AG)" (11/2013)

2013 Aubert "Ritchie Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Aubert "Ritchie Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (97VN, 96RP, 93WS). Vinous: "The 2013 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard is translucent and weightless, yet also magnificent in its depth. Graphite, slate, smoke, incense, lemon and white peach emerge from the glass, but only with great reluctance. The Ritchie is the most reticent wine in this range, but it is in many ways the most intriguing. Intensely mineral and nuanced, the 2013 Ritchie will thrill those lucky enough to own it for another decade-plus. I can't wait to see how this develops in bottle. The 2013 was done in 100% new oak, yet there is virtually no trace of oak at all. (AG)" (01/2015)

2002 Sylvie Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St. Jacques" (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2002 Sylvie Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St. Jacques" (1.5L) (93VN). Vinous: "Good dark red. Wild, evolving nose combines black olive, game, spices, truffle, earth and a whiff of balsamic plum and sandalwood. Spicy, gamey and complex on the palate, showing a sexy candied quality to the flavors of black raspberry pastille and smoke. Fat with fruit but the wine's serious acidity and smooth tannins should hold it effortlessly for another decade. A captivating note of violet emerged with aeration. Incidentally, this was the first vintage in which Sylvie Esmonin vinified with a portion of the stems. She actually began with two cuvées of this juice, and she included 50% whole clusters in the batch that she vinified without SO2. Lovely energy here. (ST)" (02/2016)

1986 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (96RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still tasting as if it were only 7-8 years of age, the dense, garnet/purple-colored 1986 Gruaud-Larose is evolving at a glacier pace. The wine still has mammoth structure, tremendous reserves of fruit and concentration, and a finish that lasts close to a minute. The wine is massive, very impressively constituted, with still some mouth-searing tannin to shed. Decanting of one to two hours in advance seems to soften it a bit, but this is a wine that seems to be almost immortal in terms of its longevity. It is a great Medoc classic, and certainly one of the most magnificent Gruaud-Larose ever made. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2035. (RP)" (01/2003)

Raised in roughly 20% new demi-muids and foudre, this is a heavenly Syrah that couldn't get any better. Give it 2-4 years in the cellar and enjoy bottles through 2030. (JD)" (06/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, and the last wine made by Pam Starr at Rombauer Vineyards, the 1995 offers worthy competition to the magnificent 1994, which was more highly heralded. A touch of spring flowers, intermixed with crème de cassis, licorice, lead-pencil shavings and cedar, are all present in this wine of great intensity and full-bodied power, but with an elegance and finesse that, again, similarly suggests a Château Margaux made in St. Helena. This beautiful wine should continue to drink well for another 25 years. (RP)" (08/2016)

The taut and muscular broad-scaled and concentrated flavors are precise, intense and explosively long on the focused and stunningly persistent finish that is youthfully austere and breathtakingly intense. This faultlessly well-balanced but very firm effort will require extended cellaring and 15 to 20 years is probably what the structure will require to completely resolve." (01/2013)
