2011 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 96VN, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Reminding me of a top 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape (the 2010 Raymond Usseglio Cuvee Imperiale to be exact), the 2011 James Berry Vineyard is a blend of 69% Grenache, 13% Mourvedre, 13% Syrah, 2% Counoise, and a splash of Roussanne, that was aged in a combination of concrete (Grenache) and larger oak puncheons. A fresh, detailed and more elegant example of the cuvee, it offers gorgeous notes of ripe berry fruit, loads of exotic spice, violets, pepper and lavender to go with a full-bodied, beautifully pure and layered profile on the palate. It’s no blockbuster, but has loads of energy and tension, as well as class and refinement. Give it 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy it over the following decade or longer. 96+ (JD)" (08/2014)

Aromas and flavors of fresh peach and apricot, lemon-lime and crushed rock. Rich, dense, creamy and seamless, but with firm acidity and strong stony minerality leavening the wine's sweetness. Very complex and intense Perrieres with superb energy and length. Made from a blend of three parcels." (09/2012)

Of the 1990 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon-Special Selection appears to be the best Caymus has produced since 1986 and 1985. Two thousand, six-bottle cases will be released in February, 1994. The wine offers a saturated, dark purple color, and a rich, spicy, oaky nose backed up by generous quantities of jammy blackcurrants. 2008 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (100RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Utterly perfect, the 2008 Chardonnay Marcassin Estate is a dead-ringer for the 2007, but slightly richer and longer, as hard as that may be to believe. This extraordinary effort is unquestionably the 'Chardonnay of the Vintage.' In fact, it may be the 'Chardonnay of the Decade.' Brioche, nectarine, citrus and orange blossom notes intermixed with a liqueur of rocks, great acid, phenomenal concentration and staggering length result in a sublime Chardonnay that should drink well for 15+ years. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The outrageously delicious 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner’s Select (100% Napa fruit) possesses sweet blackberry, cassis, licorice, chocolate, charcoal and graphite aromas. A classic 2007 on the palate with a voluptuous texture as well as tremendous opulence, purity and depth, this broadly flavored, expansive wine cuts quite a swath across the palate with no hard edges. 2007 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth - Bodega Headlands Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth - Bodega Headlands Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ((96-98RP), 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Following the brilliant success of Kistler’s 2007s, Steve Kistler and his sidekick, Mark Bixler, deserve kudos for what they have achieved in the more challenging 2008 vintage. This is the first vintage in which 100% of the fermentations were indigenous, and, fortunately, all their Sonoma Coast vineyards were far enough south that they were not tainted by any of the smoke from the ferocious fires that spread through Mendocino. The 2008s appear to be slightly more fruit-forward, with a touch less minerality than the 2007s. They are full-bodied, impressively endowed wines, with the Chardonnays best drunk during their first 5-7 years of life, and the Pinot Noirs during their first 10-12. (RP)" (02/2010)

1994 Fonseca Vintage Port
Bid on this bottle of 1994 Fonseca Vintage Port (100WS, 97RP). Wine Spectator: "(1997 Wine of the Year & Cellar Selection) Hold on to your hat. This is the best Fonseca since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage--more like the breathtaking 1948. Mind-blowing, with masses of color, aroma and fruit flavor. Smells like fermenting berries, boasting loads of crushed grape, violet and berry character. Big, full-bodied and very sweet, with tons of tannins and a sweet finish. The wine is medium to full-bodied with good acidity, a voluptuous texture and impressive purity and length. (RP)" (12/2010)

1996 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac (93RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is unquestionably a profound Grand-Puy-Lacoste, but it is excruciatingly backward. It reveals an essence of creme de cassis character which sets it apart from other Pauillacs. The wine is displaying plenty of tannin, huge body, and sweet black currant fruit intermixed with minerals and subtle oak. Massive, extremely structured, and with 25-30 or more years of longevity, this immensely-styled Grand-Puy-Lacoste will require 7-8 years of patience, perhaps longer. A superb, classic Pauillac. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years. (RP)" (08/2011)

Full-bodied, rich, and moderately sweet, with huge amounts of glycerin, ripeness, and well-integrated tannin, this blockbuster port can be drunk young, but should evolve nicely for 15-20 years. 2007 Levy & McClellan Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Levy & McClellan Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 96RP, 95ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon has closed down slightly since last year. Now in bottle, it exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a similar but more subdued bouquet of lead pencil shavings, burning embers, blueberry liqueur, creme de cassis and flowers. Powerful, rich and pure, its statuesque structure, lavish concentration and formidable tannin levels suggest 3-5 years of bottle age is warranted. This may turn out to be the finest Cabernet Sauvignon produced in the short history of the Levy and McClellan Diamond Mountain winery, although the 2008 has the potential to equal it. Classic, soil-inflected aromas of citrus fruits, clove, wet stone and iodine. Suave on entry, then quite high-pitched in the middle, with superb purity to the flavors of grapefruit, lemon and minerals. At once fine-grained and taut, with captivating floral lift. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I ordered a bottle of the 2010 Chablis 1er Cru les Butteaux at the impeccable Au Fil du Zinc restaurant in Chablis and immediately grabbed my pen to scribble a tasting note. This is such a scintillating Chablis, one that encapsulates everything great about the 2010 vintage. The nose is mineral through and through--imagine getting down on your hands and knees and just inhaling limestone after a shower. The palate continues that tensile, mineral-driven theme. It is incredibly tense, perhaps benefiting from a slight, but pleasant reduction towards the finish, with awesome length and precision. What a fantastic Butteaux from Domaine Raveneau. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine J-F Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Fuées" (92RP, (88-91ST)). Dark red cherries, flowers, mint and spices are woven together in a fabric of notable beauty. There is plenty of tannic material, but the fruit is so dense the wine’s structural elements are a bit in the background. The wine continued to close down in the glass, which is likely to be quite positive for its aging potential. Despite the massive temptation to drink this early, my impression is that patience will be rewarded. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (AG)" (04/2012)

Vinous: "Dark red berries, plums, spices, licorice and mint jump from the 2012 Morey-St. Denis Clos Solon. Deep, rich and beautifully layered in the glass, the Clos Solon is a great introduction to the vintage at Fourrier. The 2012 is silky, powerful and absolutely impeccable from start to finish. Beams of minerality give the finish energy, tension and bracing salinity. (AG)" (01/2014)

Of the 2010 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les St. Georges",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Bright medium red. Lovely high-toned aromas of currant, dried flowers, stone, tobacco, leather and earth. Silky and concentrated, with terrific lift and noble rusticity to its rich, sharply delineated red fruit flavors. Really saturates the entire mouth without leaving any impression of weight. The tannins are completely enrobed by the wine's velvety texture. This impeccably balanced wine leaves the taste buds vibrating. Boasts the class and texture of a grand cru. Of the 2010 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Christophe’s Armada Vineyard Syrah has slowly become one of my favorite releases and the 2010 Syrah Armada Vineyard does nothing to dampen my growing enthusiasm for the vineyard. From a high-density planting in 2001 that lies just behind the winemaking facility (or 'studio' if you’re talking with Christophe), it offers up a brilliant bouquet of sweet kirsch and plum liqueur intermixed with notions of bacon fat, wild herbs, ground pepper and liquid rock. Of the 2000 La Gomerie, St-Emilion,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Two recent tastings of the 2000 La Gomerie both reinforced my comments of seven years ago. An interesting thing about this 100% Merlot is how well it ages. Perhaps it deserves more attention. Its dense purple color is followed by a beautiful perfume of spring flowers, creme de cassis, jammy black cherries, licorice, graphite, and espresso roast. Full-bodied, deep, superbly concentrated, pure, long, and made in a modern style, it should drink well for another decade. (RP)" (06/2010)

Of the 2009 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "One of the more flamboyant and sumptuous wines of the vintage, this inky/purple-colored St.-Julien reveals thrilling levels of opulence, richness and aromatic pleasures. A soaring bouquet of creme de cassis, charcoal, graphite and spring flowers is followed by a super-concentrated wine with silky tannins, stunning amounts of glycerin, a voluptuous, multilayered mouthfeel and nearly 14% natural alcohol. Displaying fabulous definition for such a big, plump, massive, concentrated effort, I suspect the tannin levels are high even though they are largely concealed by lavish amounts of fruit, glycerin and extract. 1998 Lokoya Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

It also will probably last 20-25 years, but will it achieve greatness or suppleness? With a dense purple color, notes of scorched earth, liquid minerals, black fruits, cedar, and licorice, this full-bodied, powerful, muscular wine has some tannin to shed, but it is loaded with extract and richness. 2009 Sheridan Vineyards "Singularity" Yakima Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Sheridan Vineyards "Singularity" Yakima Valley Syrah (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sheridan’s pure Syrah 2009 Singularity has picked up a lot of caramelized resin and firm, formidable tannin, but there is also a wealth of cepage-typical virtues: richly ripe cherry with creme de cassis and chocolate; sage and mint both pungent and metaphorically cooling; black pepper and charred, roasted red meat. What’s more, in comparison with other Sheridan bottlings from this vintage, the tannins here are practically svelte and silken! (Okay, that’s an exaggeration, you understand: there’s still plenty to chew here.) There is even a suggestion of crushed stone to undergird and add interest to the sustained finish. (DS)" (03/2013)

The wine has an opaque purple color and a sweet nose of blackberry liqueur intermixed with road tar, new saddle leather, pepper, and spice. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2013 Sine Qua Non "Résisté" Central Coast Proprietary White (97RP). Possessing rock-star levels of richness and texture on the palate, with full-bodied depth and power that never seems heavy or cumbersome, it has classic SQN white notes of buttered golden fruits, honeysuckle, honeycomb, toast and white flowers. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93RP, 92VN, 92WS, 91ST, 90CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a beautiful wine that comes from four vineyards, Gap’s Crown, Griffin’s Lair, Terra de Promissio and Walala. It has a deep ruby/semi-opaque color that is followed by a youthful, rich and concentrated wine offering classic dark cherries, plum, licorice, ground herbs and baking-spice-driven aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, layered and structured, it opens up beautifully with air, has seamlessly integrated fruit, tannin and alcohol, and stays classy and nicely focused on the finish. Offering up plenty of creme de cassis, coffee bean, toasted spice, pencil shavings and violet-like qualities on the nose, it has palate staining levels of extract and tannin that come through on the mid-palate and finish. 2012 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2012 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (98VN, 94RP, 94WS). Vinous: "The 2012 Monte Bello is one of the most harmonious young Monte Bellos I can remember tasting. Seamless and voluptuous through to the finish, the 2012 is showing beautifully today. Raspberry jam, pomegranate, white flowers, mint and spices are some of the many notes that flesh out in the glass. A wine with a distinctly red-hued profile, silky tannins, no hard edges and exceptional overall balance, the 2012 Monte Bello is simply magnificent. The 2012 is racy but also impeccably balanced throughout, with shades of the 2001 that come through from time to time. I won't be surprised if the 2013 and 2014 both eventually surpass it, but there is no denying that the 2012 is simply stunning today. This is one of the best showings yet for the 2012. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1997 Harlan Estate is one of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines I have ever tasted. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this enormously-endowed, profoundly rich wine must be tasted to be believed. Opaque purple-colored, it boasts spectacular, soaring aromatics of vanilla, minerals, coffee, blackberries, licorice, and cassis. In the mouth, layer after layer unfold powerfully yet gently. Acidity, tannin, and alcohol are well-balanced by the wine's unreal richness and singular personality. The finish exceeds one minute. (RP)" (12/2000)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 95VN, 93ST) in original wood. Vinous: "The 2011 Ovid is super-silky, finessed and beautiful. There is a bit less resonance and depth relative to most vintages, but the 2011 makes up for that with its aromatic complexity, pure expressiveness and long, resonant finish. With time in the glass, the spiced and floral notes become more apparent. The delicate, perfumed finish rounds things out beautifully. The 2011 is 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, which is more Cabernet Sauvignon and less Franc than is usually the case. This is another striking wine from Ovid. Ovid was another of the many highlights of my fall trips to Napa Valley. The estate has done a magnificent job with their new and upcoming releases. Winemaker Austin Peterson describes 2010 as the coldest vintage ever on the estate, even more so than 2011. As for the wines, well, they are magnificent. It's as simple as
