2011 Domaine Roulot Meursault "Les Luchets"
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Roulot Meursault "Les Luchets" (95JS, 94RP, (89-91BH), 91ST, 90VN, 90WS). James Suckling: "A cooler floral style to a wine that has a fine, taut, citrusy note pith. The oak is nicely integrated and the mealy elements add savory interest. The palate has terrific layering and is smooth and supple; it shows yellow citrus fruits, pith and is bold with some very nicely layered and textural moments. Terrific." (02/2015)

1990 Noel Verset Cornas
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1990 Noel Verset Cornas (94ST, 93RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "At the time of its release I thought that Verset's 1990 Cornas was one of the best wines of the vintage in the northern Rhône and definitely the best example of Cornas for that year. Still deep ruby in color, it displays powerful aromas of cherry liqueur, blackberry and olive, with a minty aspect adding vivacity and lift. Round and seamless in texture, with sappy red and dark berry flavors and hints of spicecake and cola, this is aging very slowly and positively. A hint of fresh mint sneaks up with air, adding good back end bite to a long, supple finish. In an ample, plush style for Verset, you could drink this with great pleasure now or forget it for at least another ten years." (01/2015)

1986 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (94RP, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1986 is finally emerging from the dormant stage that many of the wines from this vintage (especially the Medocs) have been going through. It is a full-bodied, still backward wine that will appeal to classicists and old line traditionalists given its firm structure and austere tannins. Nevertheless, the color is a healthy deep garnet and the wine exhibits wonderful freshness along with notes of underbrush, damp earth, black currants, cedar and new saddle leather. Well-balanced with good depth, medium to full body, and a tannic (although not excessively so) finish, this may not be the most finesse-styled, elegant Lynch Bages ever produced, but it is an interesting Pauillac that will benefit from another 3-4 years of cellaring. While it may never hit the peaks achieved by great Lynch Bages vintages, it will be one of those rare wines that will last 40+ years. (RP)" (08/2011)

1989 Nöel Verset Cornas
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1989 Nöel Verset Cornas (95VN). Vinous: "I actually find the 1989 Cornas to be a shade better than the '90 right now, but at this stage, 25 years out, we're well into the bottle variation stage of wines' evolution so I could take a different view on any given day. The wine displays highly complex bouquet that evokes raspberry liqueur, incense, potpourri and smoky bacon, with a powerful Asian spice nuance adding lift. It offers palate-staining red fruit and floral pastille flavors, along with suggestions of licorice, olive and fruitcake. Weighty but vibrant, it finishes sweet, seamless and extremely long, with a deft interplay of richness and tension. I suspect that the Cornas will age for at least as long as its 1990 sibling and probably longer but there's plenty of pleasure to be had from it now. (JR)" (01/2015)

1991 M. Chapoutier "La Mordorée" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1991 M. Chapoutier "La Mordorée" Côte-Rôtie (100RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In the same class as the great single-vineyard Cote Roties made by Marcel Guigal (i.e., La Mouline, La Turque, and La Landonne), La Mordoree is most akin to La Mouline in its seductive, otherworldly fragrance and layers of sweet, expansive, velvety-textured fruit. There were 400 cases made of this saturated purple-colored wine. Its huge bouquet and spectacularly rich, layered personality offer an astonishing example of what low yields from a naturally farmed vineyard and an unfined, unfiltered winemaking philosophy can achieve. Wine Spectator: "A rich, concentrated red, intense with black currant, blackberry and spice aromas and flavors. The sweet palate is matched to lively acidity and refined tannins, and this kicks in on the aftertaste with violet, cassis and mineral accents. Best from 2013 through 2035. 4 cases imported. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Dom Pérignon "Andy Warhol Trubute" Brut Champagne (OWC - 98VN, 96RP, 96W&S, 95WS) in original wood. Vinous: "The 2002 Dom Pérignon speaks to opulence and intensity. Rich, layered and voluptuous in the glass, the 2002 shows off its flamboyant personality with flair. Butter, cooked apple and tropically-leaning fruits mesh together effortlessly. Interestingly, with time in the glass the 2002 gains in freshness and energy without losing its essential opulence. The elevated ripeness of the year gives the 2002 Dom Pérignon distinctly Puligny-Montrachet leaning inflections...This is yet another fabulous showing from the 2002, which continues to cement its reputation as a truly epic Dom Pérignon." Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru "Les Taillepieds" ((92-94BH), (91-94ST), (91-93RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(100% vendange entier): Medium red. Aromas of redcurrant, tobacco, dusty spices and rose petal. Suave, precise and intense if still youthfully tight; this appears to possess the density and saline extract to support the whole-cluster vinification. Finishes with very fine-grained tannins, a light peppery note and lovely lingering perfume. Excellent potential here. (ST)" (01/2012)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ripe, mineral-driven aromas of lemon zest, menthol, lavender and powdered stone. Creamy-sweet and palate-staining, with superb layered concentration and ripeness. Wonderfully fat, old-school grand cru combining uncanny viscosity with strong mineral spine. Finishes with superb length. This may yet go into a shell, but it's spectacular today." (09/2009)

It will age nicely for another 10-12 years, but there is not a whole lot of positive evolution to be expected. " (01/2003)

Curiously, despite the hint of rusticity on the mid-palate, the overall character is really one of finesse as both the nose and finish are extremely fine. Terrific quality at this level." (01/2005)

Wine Spectator: " Unctuous and ripe, with mouthfilling almond cream, ginger, heather honey and apricot flavors, this will need time to unwind fully, but when it does, expect more pineapple, maple and singed orange notes, as this has some depth and power in reserve, with more than enough cut for balance. A beauty in the making. Best from 2018 through 2038." (1/2016)

Medium-bodied, savory and broad in the mouth with no hard edges, this fully mature effort is a somewhat underrated vintage for this estate. Enjoy it over the next decade. (RP)" (08/2011)

Full body with layers of ripe tannins and spice. It goes on for minutes on the finish. This is a fabulously spicy with black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, black truffles, sous bois and licorice. A pure, crystalline wine, it shows fabulous balance and tons of pedigree. White stone fruits, pears, apples and jasmine all come to life as the wine virtually sparkles on the palate with its irrepressible energy. The finish is exceptionally beautiful, polished and vibrant. 1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (100JS, 100RP, 98ST, 98WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine remains one of the legends of Bordeaux. It has thrown off the backward, youthful style that existed during its first 25 years of life, and over the last 4-5 years has developed such secondary nuances as cedar and spice box. The creme de cassis, underlying floral note, full-bodied power, extraordinary purity, multilayered texture, and finish of over a minute are a showcase for what this Chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still amazingly youthful, vibrant, and pure. It appears capable of remaining fruity and vibrant in 2082! Thank God it is beginning to budge, as I would like to drink most of my supply before I kick the bucket. This is a great, still youthful wine, and, on occasion, one does understand the hierarchy of Bordeaux chateaux when you see the complexity and brilliance of this first-growth. (RP)" (06/2009)

In many respects it is the quintessential Chateau Margaux, as well as the paradigm for this estate, combining measured power, extraordinary elegance, and admirable complexity. I tasted the wine of three separate occasions in January, and in short, it's a beauty! The color is opaque purple. Extremely powerful and full-bodied, with remarkable complexity for such a young wine, this huge Lafite is oozing with extract and richness, yet has managed to preserve its quintessentially elegant personality. Superconcentrated, with a full-bodied, highly extracted, mouth-filling taste, this example of Cornas possesses moderate tannin, adequate acidity, and a smashingly long finish. Wine & Spirits: "Perrières is the site of an old stone quarry, a walled vineyard near the border with Puligny, where Pierre Morey purchased 1.28 acres in 1987. He has farmed this parcel under biodynamic practices since 1998. It produced a flashy, Old World style of Burgundy in 2007, a heady mix of beeswax, wildflower honey, freshly churned butter, earthier notes of mushrooms and fresher scents of lemon zest. The wine's grand complexity all emanates from the chalky stone character at its center. One of our panelists, Mariko Kobayashi, commented that 'the wine has identity rather than personality.' It's all about the terroir rather than the winemaker, and it is magnificent terroir." (10/2009)

Guigal "La Turque" Côte-Rôtie,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Getting a few expletives in my notes, the 2003 Cote Rotie La Turque is more structured and powerful, with a youthful purple color giving way to meaty, bloody characteristics that are intermixed with creme de cassis, roasted meats, licorice and leather. Full-bodied, seamless and layered, with incredible depth, purity and texture, it needs a few more years over the La Mouline to fully stretch out, but will have three decades or more when all is said and done. Wine Spectator: "Super-refined 1983 Bordeaux with an excellent deep ruby color and intense cigar-box, plum and berry aromas and flavors; there's even a hint of mint. It's full-bodied but very reserved in style with fine tannins and a seductively long finish." (10/1994)

1998 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 94WE, 94WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Between 1978 and 2007, this 1998 is the greatest Vieux Telegraphe that was produced. It has taken a good decade for this wine to shed its tannins and come out of a dormant, closed period. It has finally emerged, and notes of iodine, seaweed, black currants, incense, and sweet cherries as well as hot rocks jump from the glass of this full-bodied, powerful wine. It possesses considerable elegance and purity, along with loads of raspberries and incense, in a round, juicy, rich style that is just emerging from the closet. The wine is still youthful and a pre-adolescent in terms of its ultimate evolution. Approachable now, it will continue to evolve for another 15-20 years. Bravo! (RP)" (06/2010)

Louis employs 100% destemming, cold maceration of 4 to 6 days, never permits the temperature of his musts to exceed 32 to 33 degrees Centigrade and a total cuvaison of 15 to 21 days. 2001 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Margaux, Margaux (97WE, 93RP, 93ST, 92WS). Wine Enthusiast: "'For me, this vintage is what makes Margaux special,' says Margaux winemaker Paul Pontallier. He is right: With its denseness, spice, flavors of black currants layered with dryness and fresh acidity, this is a huge and impressive wine that never forgets that it is Margaux. It is still young, and the dry tannic aftertaste, which lasts for many minutes, shows this." (06/2005)

1995 Domaine Maume Gevrey Chambertin ''En Pallud''
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1995 Domaine Maume Gevrey Chambertin ''En Pallud''. Allen Meadows reports this update from Maume: "Maume is someone who is always tinkering with his approach and since he took over from his father has instituted any number of important changes. As of 2005 he has instituted two more and has bought a destemmer that he uses to eliminate 100% of the stems but now is preserving a very high percentage of whole berries for the fermentation. The second major change is that he has eliminated all machine pumps so as to more gently treat the musts and new wines. Lastly, Maume said that he bought another pneumatic press that was capable of handling small lots so that he wasn't losing too much time with the bigger lots that might be waiting for the press to finish when he was pressing small quantities. The risk of waiting is that any damaged fruit may oxidize if left exposed to air for any significant time."

2001 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (95WS, 94RP, 94ST). Wine Spectator: "This is an elegant, sinewy vintage that is just starting to hit its stride, with a strong sanguine and cedar frame to the core of dried red currant, cherry pit and red licorice notes. A racy iron note is now in full throat on the finish. The commanding minerality should carry this through a second stage of life. (Web- 2012)"

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Arnaud Ente Meursault "Clos de Ambres" ((89-91BH), 91RP, 91ST, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Very well defined on the nose with a citrus, nectarine and almond bouquet. The palate is rounded on the entry with notes of grapefruit, almond, nectarine and apple-blossom. Just a little soft on the finish, but otherwise this is a sublime Meursault. Tasted January 2011. 1997 Bouchard Pere & Fils/du Chateau de Vosne Romanee La Romanee
Bid on this bottle of 1997 Bouchard Pere & Fils/du Chateau de Vosne Romanee La Romanee ((94-96RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The medium to dark ruby-colored 1997 La Romanee reveals a gorgeous, mouth-watering nose of smoked bacon, intermingled with talcum powder and red berry fruits. It has a creamy texture, great elegance, and a sublime character filled with well-delineated yet jammy red cherries, violets, and spices. This feminine, graceful, complete wine has awe-inspiring grace, femininity, and length. It is immensely gratifying to encounter a La Romanee with such power, harmony, refinement, and profundity. 2007 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanee
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanee. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Liger-Belair’s 2007 Vosne-Romanee rather unusually mingles scents of cherry, cinnamon, toasted pecan, resin, and tomato foliage. The wine’s pungency and tactile impingement of cinnamon spice help convey a more emphatic palate presence and at the same time this is less delicate than the corresponding 2008. That it sends out somewhat mixed messages in terms of ripeness does not prevent if from being intriguingly delicious. (DS)" (06/2010)
