2005 Kapcsandy Family Winery "State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Kapcsandy Family Winery "State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "98+ points. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, which was 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc (600 cases), reveals loads of licorice, graphite, and blackcurrants in a sexy, toasty style with hints of earth, loamy soil notes and a floral underpinning. The wine is fragrant, with great intensity, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and almost a Mouton-Rothschild-like crème de cassis element. It is deep, medium to full-bodied, rich and quite youthful at age ten. The wine is not as complex as it is certainly very young. (RP)" (06/2015)

It is an exceptionally powerful wine with a dense purple color, superb intensity, and a beautiful, sweet nose of spring flowers, raspberries, blueberries, graphite, and creme de cassis. Full-bodied with fabulous concentration, exceptionally high tannin, good acidity, and massive layers of richness that build incrementally on the palate, this monumental effort is more structured than their outstanding 2003. Bid on this magnum of 2005 Torbreck "Les Amis" Grenache Barossa Valley (1.5L) (98RP, 94VN, 93WE, 91WS, 17JR). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Les Amis, sourced from a 100+-year-old vineyard, is 100% Grenache aged for 18 months in new oak. Remarkably fragrant, it emits full-throttle aromas of spice box, kirsch, wild raspberry, and blackberry liqueur. Plush on the palate, it reveals layers of rich, red and black berry flavors, ripe tannin, and a 60-second, pure finish. Although it can be admired now, the wine merits 6-8 years of further bottle aging to reveal all of its splendors. This sensational effort could easily masquerade as Pegau Cuvee de Capo on human growth hormone. (JM)" (10/2007)

Of the 2005 Beau-Séjour-Bécot, St-Emilion,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "A beautiful wine from Beau-Séjour Bécot, the color of the 2005 is an opaque purple and the wine is loaded with notes of cedar wood, Asian spice, blackberry and cassis fruit. Full-bodied and tannic, but broad, huge, and massive, this wine is still an infant and needs another 7-10 years of cellaring. This is a 40- to 50-year wine from the Bécot family. 94+ points. It is a brilliant effort from the young Janouiex, but it needs some cellaring. (RP)" (04/2008)

Of the 2003 Vincent Girardin Clos de la Roche Grand Cru,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "A powerful, deep effort, the 2003 Clos de la Roche displays dark berry and herb aromas. Medium to full-bodied and intense, its muscular character coats the palate with blackberries, brambleberries, and cassis. Impressive yet slightly uncivilized, it will benefit from aging. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Grenache Romas Vineyard delivers more complexity than the Onkaparinga, both aromatically and on the palate. An enticing perfume of damp earth, truffle, clove, black cherry, and blackberry is followed by a full-bodied, powerful, structured wine which will need a decade to reveal its full potential. Although it oozes with fruit and can be enjoyed now, it merits extended cellaring. (JM)" (10/2007)

2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a hot vintage and incredible any way you look at it, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has that laser-like focus of a cooler year, yet the voluptuousness and richness of a warmer year. Smoked black fruits, coffee, truffle and pen ink-like aromas and flavors all emerge from this massive, incredibly full-bodied effort and on the palate, it carries itself perfectly with a weightless, yet decadent texture, masses of polished tannin and blockbuster length. More classic and textbook than the 2007, it is every bit as good. Enjoy it over the coming two decades or more. Drink now-2033. (JD)" (06/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Le Cailleret" (91BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "***Outstanding*** A reserved and cool but beautifully elegant nose of white flower and green fruit aromas is trimmed in a subtle touch of oak that merge into rich, full and intense medium weight plus flavors brimming with minerality, all wrapped in an energetic and punchy finish that is linear and pure. This is not yet as complex as it will be with a few years of bottle age but I quite like the style and material." (07/2007)

Savory herbs, plums, graphite, rose petal, lavender and sage all open up in an exotic, beguiling Cabernets that exudes personality. 2005 Levy & McClellan Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Levy & McClellan Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 95RP, 94VN) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Levy and McClellan's 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, which spent 26 months in new oak (mostly Taransaud), is developing at an incredibly slow rate. Its opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by beautiful aromas of roasted coffee, melted chocolate, creme de cassis, burning embers, camphor, and a hint of cedar. On the palate, the wine combines considerable substance, power, and extract with a sense of harmony as well as elegance. Black currant, blackberry, and gamy, meaty notes are also present in this full-bodied effort with an incredibly long finish. The wine is just beginning to shed some tannin and become accessible. Of the 2005 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Not surprisingly, one of the great Petite Syrahs made in this vintage has again come from the Hayne Vineyard. Turley’s inky/blue/purple-tinged 2005 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard possesses a boatload of tannin as well as a fabulously concentrated attack and mid-palate. This is the most northern vineyard of the Bond Estates, and this wine was just incredible. By far, the biggest, most backward and massive of all the 2005s, this wine behaved as if it were three or four years old, rather than ten. Dense purple, it offers notes of blueberry liqueur, St.-

Its dark ruby/purple-tinged color is followed by notions of cedarwood, spice box, roasted herbs, sweet black cherry and cassis fruit, licorice, and truffles. Full-bodied with excellent fruit intensity, complex aromatics, supple tannins, and a long finish, this 7,000-case blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot should drink well for two decades or more. 95+ points. 2005 Pax "Walker Vine Hill" Russian River Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Pax "Walker Vine Hill" Russian River Valley Syrah (94RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another Russian River vineyard, the 2005 Syrah Walker Vine Hill, which creeps up toward 15% alcohol, is 100% Syrah, with beautiful blackberry, white chocolate, and blueberry notes intermixed with some graphite and lavender. The wine is full-bodied, almost inky in the mouth, with sensational richness, voluptuous texture, and a stunningly long finish. This is a brilliant Syrah to drink over the next decade or more. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Armand Rousseau Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru ((89-92BH), 18JR). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is quite ripe though by no means surmature, offering a mix of black cherry and blue berry accompanied by ample earth and game hints that continue onto the rich, sweet, textured and fleshy flavors that are generous but not soft on the opulent and deep finish. Like the Gevrey, this is more expressive and accessible than usual at this stage though there is an underlying tannic spine that will enable to improve for up to a decade. Drink: 2013+" (01/2007)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru "Clos du Chateau des Ducs" ((93-94RP), 93BH, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From their monopole immediately above the village, the Lafarge 2005 Volnay Clos du Chateau des Ducs combines black cherry and cassis with concentrated meat stock, displays flattering creaminess of texture for such a youthful and richly tannic Pinot, and finishes long on a myriad of low-toned bitter-sweet notes including fruit skin, fruit pits, dark chocolate, caramel, marrow, black truffle and wet stone. This concentrated Volnay, preciously eloquent and elegant though it is (and more typical of the vintage than its stable mates) bids fair to reward 10-12 years in the cellar. (DS)" (06/2007)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts" ((92-93RP), 92BH, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Grivot’s 2005 Vosne-Romanee Les Beaumonts delivers scents of blackberry, cassis, violets, fennel, and pungent brown spices. Clear and invigorating in fruit, yet creamy and mouth-coating, this brings spices, flowers and a note of chalk into its long, refined finish. The tannins are superbly fine and the longer this opens in the glass the more perfumed it becomes. (DS)" (04/2007)

2005 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (93BH, 91ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A very subtle hint of wood spice sets off dried rose petal, citrus and peach aromas that precede the rich, structured and intense flavors that are more backward than those of the Criots and seem decidedly primary by comparison and culminate in a driving and distinctly austere finish. I should note though that this is on the awkward side today and my score offers the benefit of the doubt for the admirable track record this wine has achieved over the years, particularly since 2000." Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Faiveley Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru ((92-95BH), 92ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Don't miss!* This too is very deftly oaked with an earthy and very ripe mix of briar, dark berry fruit and pungent underbrush aromas leading to muscled, energetic and sappy flavors where the mid-palate fat almost completely buffers the firm though not aggressive tannins that add a chewy texture to the gorgeously long finish. There is a really attractive underlying tension here but like most of these grands crus, this is a wine for the patient that will last for decades." (01/2007)

2005 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 96WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for one of the wines of the vintage, this stunning 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford includes in its blend some of the oldest Cabernet vines in existence in Napa Valley. It tips the scales at a lofty 15.4% alcohol, but believe it or not, it is strikingly elegant and pure, with laser-like precision. Inky, dark ruby/purple, with a stunning nose of forest floor, creme de cassis and a subtle, earthy minerality, the wine is built like a skyscraper, with a multidimensional mouthfeel and incredible complexity and richness, yet it never comes close to tasting heavy or overwrought. This is just a great terroir, great winemaking, and the results are profound. It seems to be drinkable now, but is capable of at least another 10-20 years of full-throttle pleasure. This is a superstar and a remarkable effort. Bravo! (RP) " (06/2015)

2005 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2005 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (95CG, 95RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As for the 2005 Proprietary Red, it is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% each Petit Verdot and Malbec. While this might not be the blockbuster one would expect, there is outstanding depth, purity and overall texture and ripeness. Again, terrific acidity gives the wine vigor and precision, despite a lofty 15.2% alcohol. The wine is fresh and pure, with black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, some white floral notes, and the telltale forest floor. This is a wine to drink over the next 10-15+ years. Pahlmeyer’s wines age well, as I am still working off the 1995 and 1996 Proprietary Reds, which remain in great shape. (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 d'Arenberg "The Dead Arm" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "D’Arenberg’s most famous wine is its flagship, The Dead Arm Shiraz. The 2005 The Dead Arm Shiraz is sourced from ancient head-pruned vines. It was aged for 22 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. It is opaque purple/black with an expansive perfume of toast, smoke, spice box, mineral, pencil lead, tar, licorice, blueberry, and blackberry. Full-bodied, opulent, and super-concentrated, this structured, lengthy wine will benefit from 3-5 years of cellaring and drink well through 2025. (JM)" (10/2007)

Wine Enthusiast: "The most balanced of Sea Smoke’s three new Pinots, Southing was aged in about two-thirds new oak, which gives rich caramel, toasted coconut and exotic spice notes to the ripe fruit flavors. The wine explodes with cherries, raspberries, mulberries and even chocolate mint, finishing long and spicy, and leaving the impression of wholesomeness and completeness. " (12/2007)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Colgin "Cariad" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (100RP, 95WE, 94JS, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The blend that Colgin fashions from three vineyards owned by David Abreu (Madrona, Thorevilos and Howell Mountain) is called Cariad. The 2005 Proprietary Red Cariad consists of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot. Offering up spring flowers and garden aromas, sweet blueberry and black raspberry fruit, a touch of charcoal embers, graphite and background toast, it is fleshy and full-bodied, and again, meriting a three-digit score. This is absolutely remarkable wine. As it sat in the glass, it developed some rather compelling chocolaty, licorice undertones. This is a great classic to drink over the next 20-25 years. By the way, for those interested, the cooperage generally chosen is dominated by Taransaud barrels, but there are at least four different coopers. (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Sine Qua Non "17th Nail In My Cranium" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 98WS, 97ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Syrah The 17th Nail In My Cranium, a blend of 96.5% Syrah and 3.5% Viognier which is aged 38 months prior to bottling. (I always wonder what Marcel Guigal would think of a wine like this which seems to tip its hat in the direction of Cote Rotie and then goes into high gear and clearly says, "I’m just something very different, but thanks for even thinking of that appellation while smelling and tasting me.") Black as a moonless night, the 2005 17th Nail reveals a stunning nose of spring flowers intermixed with creme de cassis, blackberries, charcoal, graphite, and hints of lard and barbecue spices. Dense, with an endless (and I mean endless) finish, remarkable purity, and layer upon layer of flavor, but no sense of heaviness or flabbiness, this prodigious Syrah should evolve for 15 or more years. Of the 2004 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Wine Enthusiast writes: "Tasted in October, 2007, the wine was mute, offering little aromatically except for teasing notes of blackberries and oak. That shyness extended to the taste, where strong, hard tannins provide an almost impenetrable coat of armor to what’s inside. But right down the middle of the palate is a deep, intensely powerful stream of perfectly ripened cassis that’s all the proof you need of ageability. This is a magnificently structured young wine, reminiscent of a fine young Pauillac. Best afte

Connoisseurs Guide: "***Three Stars*** As deep and defined and impressively structured as any wine in this issue, Lewis adds to its recent string of show-stopping Char-donnay successes with a Cabernet that stands with the best. A big, highly extracted wine whose concentration and sheer sense of scale are matched by few, it shows layer upon layer of cassis, creamy oak, cola, chocolate, coffee and loamy soil qualities that outdistance its ample young tannins and handily buffer its scant edge of heat. Downright enthralling, yet only a shadow of what it is bound to become, it deserves seeking out and needs to be cellared for ten or more years." (08/2008)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (95JS, 94BH, 93W&S). James Suckling: "My birthday celebration night in Hong Kong moved on from Moët & Chandon and Dom Pérignon 2000 to a 2005 Bonneau de Martray Corton-Charlemange, which is an old favorite of mine for great white Burgundy. I often say that great Corton-Charlemagne is a red wine masquerading as a white wine because it can be so structured and textured. This 2005 was certainly like that. Some say that Bonneau de Martray went down in quality in the 1990s but then came back in the 2000s. The 2005 that we drank was excellent quality. It was a tightly structured white with sliced apples, lemon meringue and an exquisite cream character. It was full body and silky-textured, showing a dense and beautiful palate. It still needs at least two or three years to open and show its true quality." (06/2016)
