It possesses terrific acidity, a striking terroir-based minerality, and beautiful delineation as well as purity. This is a large-scaled yet remarkably fresh wine with the balance and grace of a world-class ballerina. Enjoy it over the next decade. (RP)" (12/2007)

Of the 2007 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2007 is a dense bluish purple blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot. It displays beautifully perfumed blue and black fruits intermixed with some pen ink, acacia flowers, and black raspberries. Gorgeous, subtle smoke and a floral character follow through into the sweet tannins of this full-bodied, opulent wine, which builds incrementally and has a gloriously luxurious texture. There’s not one trace of astringency to this seamlessly wrought wine, which is the liquid equivalent of haute couture. Already drinking well, it should continue to evolve for two decades

Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2005 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Cazetiers" (1.5L) (93BH, (91-93RP), 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even more concentrated and densely-constructed than the Clos du Fonteny, the Clair 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers smells of ripe blackberries, strong coffee, licorice and wet stone. Superbly-ripe but abundant tannins undergird a mouthful of ripe fruit, with strong mineral character grabbing the baton in the final lap. This embryonic bundle of fruit, mineral and energy will I suspect need at least 5-7 years to properly give of itself. (DS)" (06/2007)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is more elegant still aromatically with airy and very spicy aromas of red and black fruit aromas that complement to perfection the rich and wonderfully intense flavors that exude old vine concentration and extract on the firm and gorgeously long finish. This is an impeccably balanced wine and it's rare for even an exceptional Ech to rival a fine Grands Ech but this one does." (01/2007)

2005 Domaine Gros Frère & Soeur Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Gros Frère & Soeur Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru (93BH, 93ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full red-ruby color. Medicinal black fruits, minerals, violet and menthol on the captivating nose. At once sweeter and finer than the Clos Vougeot, with a more obvious floral character, a finer grain, and a higher pitch to its raspberry and dark cherry flavors. This has a texture like liquid silk. In a supple, lush, rather feminine style, finishing with suave tannins and just enough energy. Gros says this one's a tart, and that the Clos Vougeot has more material and will be better in the long run, but today I find more precision here." (04/2007)

Of the 2000 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2000 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is off the charts in terms of extract and richness. Its impenetrable black/blue/purple color is followed by scents of incense, cassis, minerals, blackberry liqueur, and graphite. This monstrously full, rich, and textured wine needs 10-12 years of cellaring, and will keep for 35-40 years." (08/2002)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a Sonoma Coast vineyard, the 2005 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard reveals extremely uplifted aromatics displaying hints of wet stones, white currants, flowers, peaches, and subtle tropical fruits. Full-bodied, intense, and tightly-knit, it should drink well for 7-8 years. Wine Spectator: "*Highly Recommended and #12 of Top 100 Wines of 2008* Still very tight, but the tannins that lead the way now are sleek and refined, and should easily meld into the huge core of roasted chestnut, black currant paste, warm fig and tar. Has a long, coffee- and loam-tinged finish. Best from 2009 through 2019. " (06/2008)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by beautiful aromas of blueberries, black currants, acacia flowers, licorice, and spice. The tannins are softer than I remember, but this is certainly one of the vintage’s most extraordinary wines. Full-bodied with a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, alcohol, and wood, it is exceptionally pure and full as well as impeccably balanced. The impression is one of elegance allied with substantial flavor authority. It can be drunk now or cellared for 25+ years." (12/2008)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 97RP, 96JS, 96ST, 95WE, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Not unexpectedly, the 2005 Harlan Estate performed slightly better than it did last year. As these wines often do, it continues to put on weight as it is bottled very late by Napa standards, and there is no fining or filtration. The 2005 exhibits a gorgeous thick-looking, ruby/purple color in addition to a beautiful nose of burning embers interwoven with creme de cassis, roasted meats, sweet black truffles, and spring flowers. A hint of lead pencil shavings also emerges from this cuvee, which seems to want to be both a Pauillac and a ripe vintage of La Mission Haut Brion. Full-bodied, dense, pure, and revealing sweeter tannin than I remember, it can be drunk now, but it will no doubt display even greater complexity in 10, 20, and 30 years. (RP)" (12/2008)

Multidimensional, soil-driven nose features wild red berries, smoke, minerals, dried rose, mocha, underbrush and an exhilarating suggestion of white flowers. Like pure silk in the mouth but with pungent mineral lift giving this voluminous, extract-rich wine a nearly weightless impression. As fat, full and solid as this is, the overall impression is of finesse and perfume. Finishes with extraordinary mounting persistence and perfectly buffered, noble tannins." (03/2008)

Of the 2005 Aubert "Reuling Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "There are 350 cases of the 2005 Chardonnay Reuling Vineyard, which comes from the Goldridge soils of this Sonoma Coast site. This Chardonnay comes from a clone suitcased over from the Montrachet vineyard in Burgundy. There is no doubting the liquid minerality, striking honeyed citrus, white currant, hazelnut, and brioche notes are more French than California, but the power and richness are pure New World. An absolutely remarkable Chardonnay that is certainly one of the top half dozen or so Chardonnays I have ever tasted from California, this is a stunningly proportioned, profound wine that should drink beautifully for 5-7 years,

Of the 2003 Turley "Estate" Napa Valley Zinfandel,91-93 points Robert Parker writes: "There are 200 cases of the 2003 Zinfandel Turley Estate (15.2 % alcohol). Grown on an old river bed filled with cobbles, this supple-textured, round, easygoing, hedonistic Zinfandel offers loads of briery, peppery, berry fruit and leafy, herbal notes, a succulent style, and a gorgeous glycerin- and fruit-endowed finish. 2005 Geantet-Pansiot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Geantet-Pansiot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (94RP, (90-93BH), 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a rocky, thinly-soiled spot in the “true” Charmes (rather than the sometimes equally grand but distinctive Mazoyeres that can also be sold as “Charmes”), the Geantet-Pansiot 2005 Charmes Chambertin delivers a lovely meld of bright cherry, beef marrow, cocoa powder, and chalk. A typically sleek, polished, long-lined performance for this appellation at its best, this isn’t a wine with lots of nooks and crannies. There is a superb sweetness and clarity of finishing fruit along with a vibrant if hard to describe mineral note. There could scarcely be a more stark contrast in microclimate or vinous character between this wine and the Poissenot. (RP)" (06/2007)

2005 Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur Richebourg Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur Richebourg Grand Cru (95ST, 94BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "8 barrels made, vs. a normal 11 or 12) Full red-ruby, not quite as dark as the other grand crus at this address. Reticent but wild nose hints at black raspberry, minerals and game. At once powerful and suave, with terrific inner-palate tension and sneaky intensity of dark fruit and violet flavor. Finishes impressively long, with thoroughly buffered, fine-grained tannins. Gros prefers wines that combine power and roundness, and he ventured the opinion that only grand crus can give the sweetness with strength that he prizes." (03/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Brovia "Villero" Barolo (96RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Barolo Villero is ridiculously great. All sorts of cinnamon, cloves, menthol and other balsamic nuances take center stage. The dark fruit is marvelously radiant, open and expressive, showing superb density and richness. The tannins are of course firm for a wine of this age, but that doesn’t get in the way of what is a totally alluring Barolo of the highest level. Violets, plums and minerals ring out on the precise, refreshing finish. Hats off to Brovia for another exceptional Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035. (AG)" (12/2010)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red (OWC - 95RP, 93AG, 92JS, 92ST, 90WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The opaque purple-hued 2005 exhibits an extraordinary nose of violets, creme de cassis, charcoal, and spring flowers. Gorgeously pure, opulently full-bodied, with sweet tannins, superb concentration, and a low acid, ripe, tannic finish, it tastes like a top-notch vintage of ripe Bordeaux, but made in California. It can be drunk now and over the next 20-25 years. Bravo! (RP)" (12/2008)

2005 Alban "Seymour's Vineyard" Edna Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Alban "Seymour's Vineyard" Edna Valley Syrah (96RP, (93-96ST), 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a cooler year, the 2005 Syrah Seymour’s Vineyard exhibits a more European personality than the classically Californian 2004. The 2005 reminds me of a broodingly backward, dark purple-colored Hermitage from the northern Rhone. Aromas of scorched earth, creme de cassis, truffles, and graphite emerge from this cuvee. With remarkable density, structure, precision, and freshness as well as sensational equilibrium (despite its weight and intensity), it should be at its finest between 2012-2025+. The wines of John and Lorraine Alban are about as spectacular as one can find anywhere in the world. Alban is committed to aging his big Syrahs longer in barrel, believing it will concentrate the wines and add additional complexity. (RP)" (06/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Napa Valley Red Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 2005 Antinori "Antica" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90RP, 90WE), 1-bottle of 2005 Darioush Napa Valley Cabernet Franc, and 1-bottle of 2005 Darioush Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93CG, 92WS). Of the 2005 Darioush Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Connoisseurs Guide writes: "**Two Stars** Once again, Darioush races to the top of the listings with a big, rich, hedonistically overachieving Cabernet, but unlike last year's * * * winner, this one is somewhat tighter and age-demanding than its predecessor. It is in the nature of the 2005 vintage that it seems to produce somewhat less lush, plush wines, and there are those who will applaud and those who will miss the genuine juiciness of Darioush's 2004. By comparison, this wine seems to have a foot in two camps, but that only makes it a bit different rather than less desirable." (04/2008)

2005 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan is perfection! It was too easy to deliver the ultimate three-digit score. A sensational nose of pen ink, graphite, forest floor, crème de cassis, a hint of white chocolate, and cedar wood are all present in this majestic, multi-layered wine built like a skyscraper. The freshness is still a component part of this full-bodied, stunningly concentrated wine that is pure Napa purity, power and compelling intensity. This is a great wine, still youthful at age ten, and capable of at least another 20-25 years of evolution. (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Sine Qua Non "17th Nail In My Cranium" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Sine Qua Non "17th Nail In My Cranium" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 98WS, 97ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Syrah The 17th Nail In My Cranium, a blend of 96.5% Syrah and 3.5% Viognier which is aged 38 months prior to bottling. (I always wonder what Marcel Guigal would think of a wine like this which seems to tip its hat in the direction of Cote Rotie and then goes into high gear and clearly says, "I’m just something very different, but thanks for even thinking of that appellation while smelling and tasting me.") Black as a moonless night, the 2005 17th Nail reveals a stunning nose of spring flowers intermixed with creme de cassis, blackberries, charcoal, graphite, and hints of lard and barbecue spices. Dense, with an endless (and I mean endless) finish, remarkable purity, and layer upon layer of flavor, but no sense of heaviness or flabbiness, this prodigious Syrah should evolve for 15 or more years. Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2005 Bouchard Père et Fils Chambertin Grand Cru (OWC - (91-94ST)) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Wild, complex aromas of red cherry liqueur, smoked meat, licorice and shoe polish, with a cool veggie nuance. Sweet and stylish but still quite reserved, even cool, with intriguing suggestions of gibiers and toasty oak. Still quite clenched on the back, finishing with building tannins. Classic austere Chambertin." (04/2007)

Of the 2007 Cayuse "En Cerise" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2007 Syrah En Cerise Vineyard (100%) is a glass-coating opaque purple color. On the nose espresso, smoked meat, olives, and garrigue-like aromas offer much to contemplate. Intense, balanced, and subtly elegant, it boasts a finish that just won’t quit. It delivers impressive immediate gratification, but those who can wait for 5-7 years will be well rewarded." (08/2010)

2005 Sociando Mallet, Haut-Médoc
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Sociando Mallet, Haut-Médoc (92ST, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full medium red-ruby. Complex nose offers black raspberry, licorice, minerals and a whiff of leather. Brooding, ripe and deep, with terrific volume for Sociando. The black raspberry, licorice and dark chocolate flavors are full and rich but remain this side of exotic. In fact, this boasts superb balance even if it's youthfully backward today. Expands impressively on the back half, finishing with big, broad tannins and an impression of real power. Cellarmaster Faure notes that he's enjoying the '98 and '99 today, but that the 2000 and 2001 are currently quite closed. This 2005 is likely to require at least seven or eight years of patience." Of the 2005 Far Niente Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon,Wine Enthusiast writes: "A fantastic Cabernet that stuns now for authenticity and power, and should develop for many years. Despite the large production, lower than that of many first growth Bordeaux, the wine, which has tiny amounts of Cab Franc and Petit Verdot, shows classic Oakville elegance and precision. Rich in black currants, blackberries, cherries and dark chocolate, it should hit its stride from 2011 through 2017. " (12/2008)

Of the 2001 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Connoisseurs Guide writes: "*Three stars* Pahlmeyer's wines can always be counted on for depth and drama, and this dazzling effort succeeds handsomely. Making fine use of rich oak spice, it is charged by wholly compelling fruit from front to back and, if very ripe, stays true to type throughout. Weight on the palate, it finds plenty of structure from its well-integrated tannins, and, if it is sufficiently fruity to be enjoyable now, it strikes us as a wine that will grow spectacularly for years to come." 2005 Lascombes, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Lascombes, Margaux (95RP, 94W&S, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A gorgeous example of Lascombes, the 2005, a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, continues the remarkable turn-around in quality that began five years ago. A stunningly opulent wine with a dense purple color, the 2005 possesses a beautiful perfume of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, creosote, and graphite, full body, silky but noticeable tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and a stunning, 45+-second finish. This is a brilliant, modern-styled Margaux that should age for 30-35 years." (04/2008)

2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a hot vintage and incredible any way you look at it, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has that laser-like focus of a cooler year, yet the voluptuousness and richness of a warmer year. Smoked black fruits, coffee, truffle and pen ink-like aromas and flavors all emerge from this massive, incredibly full-bodied effort and on the palate, it carries itself perfectly with a weightless, yet decadent texture, masses of polished tannin and blockbuster length. More classic and textbook than the 2007, it is every bit as good. Enjoy it over the coming two decades or more. Drink now-2033. (JD)" (06/2013)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Louis Jadot Clos St. Denis Grand Cru ((93-96BH), (92-94RP), 91ST). There is another dimension here and this is a knockout." (04/2007)

Among the biggest of the Two Hands wines (15.5% alcohol), this dense purple-colored Shiraz has a stupendous perfume of espresso roast, white chocolate, blackberry liqueur, and a leathery, meaty component. 2005 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. "It is easy to get excited about Kistler's Pinot Noirs," remarked Robert Parker in 1998. "All are aged in 100% new oak, made in small lots (250-500 cases), and bottled with neither fining nor filtration. They are trying to keep the levels of SO2 to minimal dosages so the wines can be as expressive as possible. These Pinot Noirs can easily hold their own in blind tastings with the finest red Burgundies." More than a decade later, Parker's praise continues: "Kistler Vineyards, undeniably one of the world's finest winemaking estates, is run with passionate dedication to detail and quality by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler. It is wines like these that keep an old critic like me inspired and energized." (12/2006)

It is a medium-bodied, elegant Cabernet Franc with serious flavor intensity. (RP)" (12/2007)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The inky/blue/purple-tinged 2005's extraordinary nose reeks of charcoal, incense, scorched earth, abundant blackberry, blueberry, and cherry fruit, toast, and spice. Good acidity, huge but sweet tannin, and fabulous precision as well as definition characterize this full-bodied, super-concentrated effort.
