2005 Domaine Albert Morot Beaune 1er Cru "Marconnets"
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Albert Morot Beaune 1er Cru "Marconnets" (90BH, 90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Along with their parcel in Savigny, Domaine Morot’s oldest vines inform their 2005 Beaune Marconnets. Blackberry, wood smoke, peat, and cedar aromas segue into a richly roasted meat and smoked peat palate. This is firmer and even more animal and mineral in character than the Bressandes, with the concentration to support a decade or more in the cellar. (DS)" (06/2007)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Albert Morot Beaune 1er Cru "Teurons" (92BH, 92ST, (90-91RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of black raspberry, dark chocolate and game; this smells like a wine from Gevrey. The thickest and largest wine in the cellar, with very full flavors of youthful black fruits and licorice. Unusually ripe and smooth for this cuvee, mounting impressively toward the back, where the broad, sweet tannins arrive late. This boasts superb palate presence. (ST)" (04/2008)

2005 Blankiet "Rive Droite- Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Red Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Blankiet "Rive Droite- Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Red Blend (93RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Merlot, which is now called Rive Droite (and this is the last one), is an 800-case blend with some Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc added. An elegant, dark ruby/purple-colored wine with a sweet nose of espresso roast, dark black cherries, licorice, underbrush, and truffle in an elegant, full-bodied, rich, concentrated style, this wine should drink nicely for 12-15+ years. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Bruno Clair Chambertin "Clos de Beze" Grand Cru ((94-96RP), (93-96ST), 95BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Clair’s 2005 Chambertin Clos de Beze – from vines going back to 1913 – displays black raspberry, cassis, licorice, and sea spray in the nose. Delivering a formidably concentrated but unusually vigorous and dynamic impression of this great site, it bursts with black fruit and meat juices, along with soy sauce, then showers the palate with site-typical rose petals in a finish of brightness, grip, and vibratory intensity. Here is a thoroughbred that is a real racer ... but I would expect to wait a decade after placing my bets. (DS)" (06/2007)

2005 Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((93-95BH), (94-95RP), 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of bright red raspberry and red currant and herbal distillates inform the nose of the Potel 2005 Bonnes Mares. Remarkably smooth and polished on the palate, offering a scintillating display of smoked, peppered meats, tart berries, pungent tobacco and bitter-sweet licorice, this finishes with unusual elegance, refinement and buoyancy for a Bonnes Mares, not to mention for a wine of such sheer intensity. As with so many of the best of Potel’s 2005s, there are certainly ample tannins, but these are exceedingly refined and unobtrusive. I suspect that this is hiding significant incipient complexity and would plan on giving it a decade or more to evolve. (DS)" (06/2007)

2005 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage Rouge
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage Rouge (99RP, 98WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lastly, from the very dome of the granite hill of Ermitage is the 2005 Ermitage l’Ermite. An extraordinarily powerful wine that probably needs 10-15 years in the bottle (last year I thought 20 was probably conservative), this is a 100-year wine and probably best appreciated by our descendants rather than anyone currently over the age of 30. Dense purple to the rim, with notes of crushed rock, charcoal, roasted meats, and enormous quantities of blue and black fruits, this wine is almost painfully rich and thick, with mouthsearing levels of tannin and zesty acidity. Monumental! (RP)" (02/2008)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the wood is moderately aggressive with toast and vanilla notes dominating the nose though the wood treatment does not change the texture of the delicious, round and relatively forward flavors that are not overly deep on the agreeably dry and linear finish. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Lucien Boillot Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Pruliers" ((92-94RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Eighty-year-old vines inform the 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Pruliers which, like Boillot’s Cherbaudes, expresses simultaneously fresh and liqueur-like expressions of black fruits, accented by mint, vanilla, pungent florality, tart fruit skin and bitter fruit pit notes. A rich mouthful of forward, sweet ripe fruit is underlain by refined tannins and this finishes long and polished, with an alliance of formidable intensity with elegance and no superfluous weight. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Savigny-les-Beaune Les Serpentieres smells of fresh red raspberries with distilled overtones, wood smoke, toasted nuts and spices. It comes onto the palate fresh and juicy, with considerable refinement of tannin and clarity of fruit as well as flattering glyceral richness, and finishes with smoky, chalky, meaty notes. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*** Don't Miss! *** A pungent nose of reduction, black cherry aromas and spice combine with earthy, sweet and opulent flavors that drench the palate in sève, particularly on the textured, powerful and again, hugely long finish. This is vibrant and detailed with a linear tautness to the mid-palate that I find very appealing." (01/2007)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from 60+ year old vines) A high-toned red fruit nose that is exceptionally fresh and bright leads to delicious, precise and serious middle weight flavors that possess both solid depth and punch on the presently rustic finish though de Nicolay indicated that it will be fined. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Georges Roumier Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru "Clos de la Bussière" (91BH, (90-91RP), 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Like the rest of the wines here at the time I tasted, Roumier’s 2005 Morey St. Denis Clos de la Bussiere had been sulfured and racked in autumn after a very late malo and was in barrel awaiting imminent assemblage in tank for (unfiltered) bottling. It was slightly reduced but responded well to a good shaking, displaying subtle black fruits, high-toned almond and maraschino, roasted meatiness, resin, and forest floor notes on the nose. It fills the mouth with roasted meat richness, bitter-sweet black fruits, high-toned distilled fruit esters, and finishes with solidity, grip, and savory saltiness. (DS)" (04/2007)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits-St.-Georges "La Charmotte" (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges La Charmotte offers somewhat reduced aromas of wood smoke and well aged game, along with ripe cherry and cherry pit. Tart fruit skin and high-toned inner-mouth esters, ashen smokiness, and rather somber notes of moss, forest floor and wet stone persist into a finish that approaches bitter concentration of fruit skin and mineral. This is highly impressive in its relatively dark, austere way, and would be fascinating to revisit in a few years. (DS)" (06/2007)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From 90-year-old vines (his oldest) from below the Clos de Beze comes Boillot’s 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cherbaudes. Concentrated fresh black cherry mingles with incense and resin on the nose. A silky texture, ultra-fine tannins, and intense fresh and liqueur-like expression of black fruit make for a memorable mouthful of Pinot that finishes with refined hints of cherry pit, brown spices, meat and mineral, fresh fruit clarity, and gentle but long reach. This should be fascinating to follow for a decade or more. (DS)" (04/2007)

Ripe black cherry, stone and smoked meat on the nose. Fat on entry, then closed in the middle, showing its structure today. Rather powerful but not especially sweet, hinting at earth, spices and minerals and conveying a chewy impression of extract. Finishes with a tannic austerity and very good length. Mocha, dark cherries, flowers, spices and tar are some of the notes that flow from this beautifully delineated, layered Barolo. The 2005 impresses for its length, textural finesse and fabulous overall balance. Sweet red cherries, mint and flowers meld gracefully into the finish. 2005 Maybach Family "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Maybach Family "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Named after the super-luxury car of the same name, the extraordinary 2005 Materium (614 cases) has more in common with a first-growth like Chateau Margaux than a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color along with a striking bouquet of blue and black fruits intermingled with acacia flowers, lead pencil shavings, and licorice, excellent fruit, medium to full body, substantial but sweet tannins, and compelling harmony among its acidity, alcohol, tannin, and extract. This sensational 2005 eclipses even the brilliant 2004. It should easily last 25 or more years. (RP)" (12/2008)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is quite a bit darker and richer than the straight Brunello. Cherries, plums, spices and French oak meld together beautifully in this silky, textured red. In 2005 the Tenuta Nuova boasts fabulous overall balance in a fairly restrained style for this bottling. Kirsch, roses and spices linger on the dark, enveloping finish. This is a terrific effort from Casanova di Neri. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Art Series Chardonnay was an incredible vintage, now giving a considerable array of complex, savory, pleasantly musky / meaty aromas with some marmite, pineapple tart, orange peel and ethereal flower and earth characters. The palate is at once elegance and power. Full bodied and rich with a satin mouth-feel, it has a very long and layered finish. Tantalizingly delicious now, it should continue to evolve and shine to 2018+. (LPB)" (10/2010)

Wine Spectator: " *Ranked #19, Top 100 Wines of 2008.* Honey, apple tart, light toffee, cream, and piecrust. Very complex and full-bodied, with lively acidity and beautiful clove honey, red apple, and lemon flavors. Long, balanced, and very lively. A massive white. Layered and beautiful. 2005 Domaine Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos" (95BH, 95ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale yellow. Ineffable nose combines fresh pineapple, grapefruit, crushed stone and menthol. Pure, taut, extremely backward wine that's like sucking on a mouthful of rocks today. Like a richer and even more austere version of the Montee de Tonnerre. With no obvious sweetness showing today, this is revealing more than it's showing. Finishes very long and very dry, with a purity of mineral expression that's rare for this vintage. Less likable today than the Valmur but even denser. This will require at least a decade of cellaring. (ST)" (07/2007)

2005 Domaine de la Grange des Peres Vins De Pays de l'Herault
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine de la Grange des Peres Vins De Pays de l'Herault (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Grange des Peres red leads with the raw red meat, plum paste, chocolate, and saline, sea spray-like elements of Mourvedre and Syrah. The palate impression here is enormously rich and sweetly-ripe in its expression of plum preserve, cassis, and chocolate, yet underlain by such a wealth of savory elements that it is impossible to address more closely without resorting to nakedly carnal adjectives and to babbling about 'minerality.' Impressions of black tea, coconut, and tobacco add further complexity. This exhibits a polished, plush texture and an energetic vivacity rare among Languedoc wines of its vintage, and should be worth holding for a decade or more. (DS)" (06/2009)

2005 Domaine Lucien Boillot Volnay 1er Cru "Les Angles"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Lucien Boillot Volnay 1er Cru "Les Angles" (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From between Fremiets and Clos de la Barre on the north side of town, the 2005 Volnay Les Anges is a cru whose aromas and flavors suggest it had been macerated on cherry stones. But the strikingly bitter and tart elements are well integrated into sweet fruit. This has cut and vivacity as well as formidable density, and lingers with fine spice and chalky minerality. 2005 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma-Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma-Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 95VN, 94WE, 93WS, 92CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Almost as impressive is the 2005 Cabernet Reserve, a blend of 95.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4.5 % Petit Verdot, in this case sourced 58% from Sonoma County and 42% from Napa. Its 14.5% alcohol is slightly lower than its sibling’s. This full-bodied wine is very concentrated, with a saturated bluish/purple color and a classic nose of mocha and espresso intermixed with crème de cassis and charcoal. The finish is a good 40-45 seconds, and the wine has a remarkable vibrancy and freshness from the vintage’s acidity. This is terrific stuff to drink now and over the next 12-15 years. 96+ Points (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah ((92-94RP), 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Not surprisingly, one of the great Petite Syrahs made in this vintage has again come from the Hayne Vineyard. Turley’s inky/blue/purple-tinged 2005 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard possesses a boatload of tannin as well as a fabulously concentrated attack and mid-palate. This full-bodied monster reveals beautiful purity and intensity as well as a superb attack and richness. Give it 4-5 years of cellaring and drink it over the next 20-25 years. (RP)" (12/2006)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: " * Sweet spot Outstanding * A wonderfully complex dark berry fruit and spice, earth and underbrush suffused nose set off by a discreet touch of wood spice merges into rich, full and palate drenching flavors that are intense and offer a serious yet beguiling velvety texture on the gorgeously long finish. This possess terrific potential and should amply repay a decade of cellaring." (04/2007)

2005 Domaine Marc Sorrel "Le Gréal" Hermitage Rouge
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Marc Sorrel "Le Gréal" Hermitage Rouge ((94-97ST), 93WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky purple. Explosive, room-filling blackberry, blueberry and candied plum aromas, with exotic potpourri and sandalwood accents. Deep, concentrated and sweet, offering a stunning array of ripe dark fruits complemented by strong licorice and graphite qualities. The finish emphasizes (supersizes!) textbook syrah fruit, showing an endless procession of ripe red and dark berries. A great Hermitage in the making." (02/2007)

James Suckling: "The purity of fruit in this is fascinating with plums, currants and other dark fruits. Then there is another layer of spices and chocolate. So much cassis. Full and very layered with chewy polished tannins and a long, long finish. Just starting to open. Changes all the time. Still needs a year or two but gorgeous to drink already." (10/2015)

2005 Domaine Maume Mazis-Chambertin Grand Gru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Maume Mazis-Chambertin Grand Gru (95BH, (90-92RP)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The old vine Mazis is almost always Maume's finest wine and so it is again in 2005 with its slightly wild nose of underbrush, freshly turned earth, smoked game, spice hints and concentrated dark berry fruit nose that complements the dusty, intense and well-muscled flavors supported by dense but relatively sophisticated tannins and simply huge length. The structure is more of a background element at present because of all the mid-palate sap but this will be a long-distance runner. Superb and highly recommended." (01/2008)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Mouches" (OWC - 94WE, 92RP, 91BH, 90WS) in original wood. Wine Enthusiast: " *Cellar Selection* The oldest property owned by the Drouhin family has produced a wine that is initially withdrawn, showing its herbal, earthy character, before releasing an explosion of sweet berries, spice and irresistible freshness and acidity. The aftertaste is firm, and the fruit is very much in place. (RV)" (08/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Pommard 1er Cru "Les Grands Epenots" (94BH, 92WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe, serious and brooding nose is composed of impressively complex red currant, blue berry, plum, violet and warm earth aromas. Given how the '05s are generally showing today, the tannins are actually quite fine and like the '08 Rugiens, the mouth feel of the robust yet focused flavors is highly sophisticated. This should be capable of aging for decades and will need at least one more. " (05/2011)

2005 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir ((93-95RP), 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Steve Kistler has backed off extraction for his Pinot Noirs, resulting in more ethereal (but not light) Pinots that are less burdened down by tannin in their youth, with each vineyard’s distinctive fruit and terroir coming through with much greater intensity. After experimenting with some Dijon clones, Kistler became convinced that the best clone for cool climate vineyards is the Calera Clone from California, and based on what he has achieved, I can’t argue. The deep ruby/purple-hued 2005 Pinot Noir Kistler Vineyard possesses sweet blueberry, raspberry, and forest floor notes, zesty acidity, elegance, and finesse, and a medium-bodied finish. Of the 2006 Grgich Hills Napa Valley Chardonnay,Connoisseurs Guide writes: "Classically Grgich in its restrained first impressions, this fairly full and yet firm bottling reluctantly offers up notes of green apples, toasty oak and hints of lime in its aromas, but the wine surprises on the palate with much more evident depth to its firm, tight but promising flavors. This is a wine that has the right pieces in the right places for cellaring." (10/2008)

2005 Domaine Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin "Les Evocelles"
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin "Les Evocelles" ((92-93RP), (90-92BH), (89-91ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From 70-year-old vines in a stony, high-elevation site north of Champeaux come Dugat’s 150 cases worth of 20 hecto./ha. 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles. This smells of ripe but bitter-sweet black cherry, wood smoke, and overt chalk and saline minerality. Coming onto the palate with superb fruit intensity, glycerine richness, and silkiness of texture, it finishes with the clarity, purity, refinement and freshness of fruit as well as the multiplicity of mineral shadings (salt, chalk, wet stone, iodine ... ?) that one anticipates from a great Riesling. (Despite Les Evocelles having been hailed on in 2004, this wine is one of Dugat’s more refined and juicy from that vintage.) (DS)" (04/2007)

2005 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Corton Renardes Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Corton Renardes Grand Cru (94BH, 91WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is less elegant but more complex still than the '05 Grand Epenots with very ripe notes of plum and dark berry fruit along with the classic animale undertones. The big-bodied flavors possess the same highly sophisticated mouth feel with excellent mid-palate concentration as well as an abundance of extract that largely, if not completely, buffers the almost chewy but not rustic finish. There is an opulence to this wine but make no mistake, this is a very serious wine that is unapologetically built to age. " (05/2011)
