2005 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru ((93-95BH), (92-94RP)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A pungent mix of wood spice, earth, red berry fruit, game, smoke and natural spice highlights the moderately sauvage character of the rich, full, refined and pure flavors underpinned by ripe and very firm tannins that culminate in an austere and very backward finish. This will require lots of cellar time to be at its best and like the Clos de Vougeot, this will be a long-distance runner." (01/2007)

2005 d'Issan, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 2005 d'Issan, Margaux (96RP, 95JS, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The more serious grand vin twin, the 2005 d’Issan, has a stunning nose of spring flowers, blackcurrant and blue/black fruits galore, and an impressively opaque dark plum/purple color. With a rich, concentrated and pure mouthfeel, wonderfully sweet tannin, full-bodied density and richness, but elegance in abundance, this is a stunner, and one of the great Margaux of the vintage. Drink it now and over the next 20 years. (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP, 92ST, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon at age ten is still a young, vibrant, dense ruby/purple -colored wine with lots of classic cassis fruit and a touch of earth undertones. It offers relatively soft and silky tannins by the standards of Montelena, but they’re there. It is full-bodied, rich and impressive. Cabernet Sauvignon from the northern end of the Napa Valley in Calistoga tends to be the St.-Estèphe of Napa. This wine is certainly one of the great ones. Forget it for another 3-4 years and drink it over the following 20-25. 93+ (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Arlaud Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru "Ruchots" (91BH, (90-91RP), 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From under the Clos de Tart and the tiny Morey sliver of Bonnes Mares, a 2005 Morey-St.-Denis Les Ruchots (aged in 40% new wood and recently assembled) had already been racked twice when I tasted, due to previous reduction. A good shaking was once again in order, at which point candied maraschino cherry and cinnamon candy aromas and flavors emerge. Intensely sweet red and black cherry accompanied by brown spices and hints of wood on a finely-tannic palate would not seem at all out of place in the New World. The finish is certainly flamboyantly fruity, penetrating, and pure, with the tannins quite well covered-over. (DS)" (04/2007)

Of the 2005 Ramey "Pedregal" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Readers looking for a Screaming Eagle look-alike should check out David Ramey’s 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal (85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot), a wine that has put on amazing richness and intensity since last year. Beautifully pure creme de cassis fruit interwoven with notions of spring flowers, espresso roast, and truffles jump from the glass of this wine. 2005 Dominique Laurent Gevrey-Chambertin Cuvée Tradition
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Dominique Laurent Gevrey-Chambertin Cuvée Tradition. Stephen Tanzer writes: "Laurent has built his negociant business on buying essentially two types of wines: those that get what he calls a naif vinification, featuring gentle extraction and minimal intervention (Laurent often calls these "vins de paysanne") and those made entirely from whole clusters (the vendange entier method). Wherever possible he works with ancient vines, often true pinot fin. Because his elevage helps to preserve the genetic identity and the energy of the wines he selects, he tends to outperform in very ripe years. Not surprisingly, his 2005 collection offers plenty of thrills." (03/2007)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "With an unbelievable nose of licorice, tapenade, black cherry and blackcurrant liqueur, as well as full body, super-sweet tannin, and astonishing richness and length, this prodigious effort in 2005 announced the resurrection of this great terroir on the slopes near Château Pavie. Dark garnet/plum/purple, this is compelling stuff and drinkable already, but capable of lasting another 25-30 years. This beauty is not to be missed! (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion (100RP, 98VN, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Troplong Mondot is a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. It was emotional tasting this wine, thinking of the late Christine Valette, who made this compelling wine while battling with considerable courage against an insidious disease. It is a great effort and a superstar of the vintage. Dense purple, it offers notes of white chocolate, blackberry, cassis and licorice as well as a hint of truffle and some subtle background oak. Full-bodied, multi-layered, and spectacularly pure and rich, it is a tour de force, and a great tribute to an incredible woman. Remarkably youthful, this wine probably needs another 4-8 years of bottle age, and should keep for 20 or more years. Kudos to the late Christine Valette! (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Gracia, St-Emilion
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Gracia, St-Emilion (98RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This estate is a tiny micro-treasure in St.-Emilion. Owned by Michel Gracia and consisting of less than five acres of vines, it turned out a final blend in 2005 of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, but only 5,000 bottles were produced. A wine pushing for perfection, notes of blueberry and blackberry dominate, but also underlying the fruit is a strong core of minerality and flowers. Full-bodied, rich, concentrated, and absolutely pure, this is a tour de force and a prodigious effort in this great, long-lived, slow-evolving vintage. Forget it or another 5-10 years and drink it over the following 40 or more. (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Maison Henri Boillot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (98ST, 95BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Wonderfully ripe, deep aromas of lime, minerals and crushed stone. An incredible mouthful of stones and minerals, with uncanny intensity, juiciness and lift. At this point in my marathon tasting with Boillot, my handwriting was degenerating and I was using exclamation marks rather than adjectives. Flat-out great white Burgundy. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Réservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95ST, 94WS, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby. Seductive dark berry and kirsch aromas are complicated by musky garrigue, black olive and dark chocolate. Dense blackberry and bitter cherry flavors stain the palate and develop a licorice character with air. Tightens up on the long, chewy finish, which is dominated by tangy red berry fruit. Like the Cham, this is a huge wine that is built to age for the long haul so don't go here if you don't have the patience to wait." (01/2008)

Of the 2007 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "One of the top wines in this incredible vintage is Avril's 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, which is the normal blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah and the rest of mix of permitted varieties. Brought up all in older foudre, it's a blockbuster, almost over-the-top, effort that gives up notes of kirsch, incense, dried flowers, spice and pepper. Bid on this magnum lot of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (100RP, 96WE, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a hot vintage and incredible any way you look at it, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has that laser-like focus of a cooler year, yet the voluptuousness and richness of a warmer year. Smoked black fruits, coffee, truffle and pen ink-like aromas and flavors all emerge from this massive, incredibly full-bodied effort and on the palate, it carries itself perfectly with a weightless, yet decadent texture, masses of polished tannin and blockbuster length. Offering off the hook notes of quince, honeysuckle, liquid rock, orange blossom and sautéed peach, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, notable freshness and purity, and a crazy long finish. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((92-95BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A brooding and backward nose is presently revealing little save for glimpses of red and blue berry fruit aromas though the rich, full and sleekly muscled flavors are sappy, intense and powerful, all wrapped in a classy and very pure finish of exceptional length. Despite the reserve, this is impressively constructed and built to age. Terrific and worth a close look." (01/2007)

Wine Spectator: "Superdense, with lots of bass showing now--anise, fennel seed, cardamom, glazed pear and fig--but there's still plenty of minerality behind it all, with a long, salted butter finish that just won't quit. Best from 2010 through 2025. (JM)" (06/2008)

2005 Cain "Five" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Cain "Five" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend. As the crow flies, Cain Vineyard and Winery is not far at all from the Napa Valley floor; philosophically, stylistically, it's in a somewhat different place. Located in the Spring Mountain District, the vineyards grow on terraces sculpted around an east-facing amphitheater. Winemaker Chris Howell points out that there's a flower that grows up here, that imparts a distinct sweet aroma when the winds blow across the ridge...is that floral aroma also displayed in this still-evolving 2005 Cain "Five," a blend of five major Bordeaux varietals, with complex fruit, maple syrup and intriguing mint aromas? Meticulous winemaking goes into this wine, including: hand picking, gentle destemming, native-yeast fermentation, and manual pressing. The wine completes malolactic fermentation in the barrel, is blended early, is racked barrel-to-barrel, is egg-white fined, and is bottled without filtration.

Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2005 Beau-Séjour-Bécot, St-Emilion (1.5L) (94RP, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful wine from Beau-Séjour Bécot, the color of the 2005 is an opaque purple and the wine is loaded with notes of cedar wood, Asian spice, blackberry and cassis fruit. Full-bodied and tannic, but broad, huge, and massive, this wine is still an infant and needs another 7-10 years of cellaring. This is a 40- to 50-year wine from the Bécot family. 94+ points. 2005 Carlisle "Tom Feeney Ranch" Russian River Valley Zinfandel
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Carlisle "Tom Feeney Ranch" Russian River Valley Zinfandel ((90-93RP), 91WS, 90CG, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " The 2005 Zinfandel Tom Feeney Ranch, which is 89% Zinfandel and 11% mixed blacks (Alicante and Petite Sirah) tips the scales at a whopping 15.9% alcohol, so Mike Officer must have picked unbelievably late in this cool year to get that kind of maturity. The wine displays some black raspberry and cherry with some underlying soil notes as well as hints of white chocolate, pepper, and spice. It is not as powerful as the Bacchi, but it is a top-flight Zinfandel. (RP)" (12/2007)

2005 Domaine Groffier Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Groffier Bonnes Mares Grand Cru (94BH, 94RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Groffier 2005 Bonnes Mares smells of black raspberry and wild blueberry laced with sage and a hint of game, offers a rather Musigny-like combination of inner-mouth florality and refinement on the palate, and finishes with pure, sweet fruit, even silkier in texture and nearly as bright as the Hauts Doix, not to mention more intense and with a tactile finishing minerality, fineness of tannins and sheer length that (as well they should) go beyond the Premier Cru wines. 2005 Janzen (Bacio Divino) Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Janzen (Bacio Divino) Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92WE). Wine Enthusiast: "This comes from Bacio Divino, which has been crafting wines under that label for some years. The consulting winemaker was the veteran Nils Venge. The wine is dry, full-bodied and very ripe, showing classic Napa cassis flavors wrapped into superfine tannins. As good as it is, one wonders what sets it apart from all the rest." (06/2008)

2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 94ST, 94WS). More classic and textbook than the 2007, it is every bit as good. (JD)" (06/2013)

More up-front than the Beaux Frères Vineyard bottling, but should hum well for quite a few years. Drink now through 2015." (05/2007)

2005 Lail "Blueprint" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Lail "Blueprint" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend. Philippe Melka is the winemaker behind this venture. "Blueprint" is sourced from a combination of the Lail estate and fruit from select growers in the Napa Valley, and is styled to be softer and more accessible upon release than their flagship J. Daniel Cuvee. The 2005 Blueprint is seductive and approachable. The wine reveals dark notes of blackberries intermixed with vanilla, cacao and coconuts. In the mouth it is round with a pure attack and good balance finishing with raspberry and cherry flavors and well-integrated sweet tannins.

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Merry Edwards "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (94WE, 93CG, 1JS). Wine Enthusiast: "Merry Edwards nailed this one. Lush and smooth as velvet, it shows enormously deep, ripe blackberry, cherry, raspberry, leather, cola, soy-splashed Portobello, vanilla and cinnamon spice flavors. But it’s also a very young wine, to judge from the freshness of acids and tannins. Drink now, with decanting, and should age well for up to a decade." (03/2008)

2005 Angélus, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Angélus, St-Emilion (100RP, 97JS, 96ST, 96W&S, 96WS, 95WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This 7,000 case blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc will rival or perhaps eclipse vintages such as 2000, 1998, 1990, and 1989. Its dense purple color is followed by an extraordinary perfume of charcoal, espresso roast, blackberries, blueberries, and a hint of wood. In spite of its thick texture, terrific acidity, high tannins, and enormous intensity as well as richness, it is surprisingly approachable, but given how slowly the 1989 and 1990 have aged, I would recommend cellaring it for 8-10 years. It should keep for three decades. A brilliant wine!" (04/2008)
