2005 Sine Qua Non "Atlantis Fe2O3-1a,b,c" California Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Sine Qua Non "Atlantis Fe2O3-1a,b,c" California Syrah (100RP, (94-95ST), 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The perfect 2005 Syrah Atlantis Fe 203-1a,b,c is a blend of 93% Syrah,5% Grenache, and 2% Viognier, with 25% whole clusters... An extraordinarily flowery nose interwoven with scents of blueberries, blackberries, incense, and graphite soars from the glass. Although not the biggest or most concentrated Syrah Krankl has made, it is one of the most nuanced, elegant, and complex. It remains full-bodied, but builds incrementally on the palate, and comes across as elegant and delicate, especially when compared to many California Syrahs. Nevertheless, the intensity is mind-boggling, and the finish lasts for nearly a minute. (RP)" (06/2008)

2005 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OCB)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OCB - 100RP) in original cardboard. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Although it’s not entitled to any specific AVA, the 2005 Proprietary Red Thorevilos is largely two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc with some Petit Verdot and a touch of Merlot. Extraordinary aromatics consisting of blueberry liqueur, white flowers, licorice, spice and incense are all present in this profound, multi-layered, full-bodied wine with remarkable purity and precision. It is multidimensional, staggeringly rich and complex, and has at least another 20-30 years. This is one brilliant example of what viticulture, winemaking and terroir can do in the Shangri-La called Napa Valley. Drink it over the next 30 years. (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Pucelles" (96ST, 94BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Captivating aromas of citrus peel, spring flowers and nut oil. Dense, thick and intense, with a silky, almost oily texture leavened by brisk acidity. Extremely intense flavor of peche de vigne complicated by chewy minerality and a soil-driven saline element. This boasts the inner-mouth tension and delicacy of a top Chevalier-Montrachet. Wonderfully pure, sweet finish stimulates the salivary glands. The combination of power, freshness and thrust here is exhilarating." (10/2007)

Of the 2007 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "A staggering Chardonnay that’s still an infant, the light yellow/green/gold 2007 offers up notes of unbuttered popcorn, orange liqueur, lemon butter, quince and crushed rocks. It possesses terrific underlying acidity, a full-bodied mouthfeel and a youthfulness and freshness that suggest this wine has two decades of life ahead of it. 2005 Clos Rougeard Saumur Champigny
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Clos Rougeard Saumur Champigny. Wine Advocate reviewer David Schildknecht says that the Clos Rougeard wines, "display awesome potential and a richness unprecedented in my experience of Loire Cabernet Franc." This exceptional cult domaine run by brothers Nadi and Charlie Foucault was "found" by the late Louis Dressner, who had a knack for finding incredible producers. Small yields, barrel fermentation, slow and cold barrel aging, and bottling without filtration combine to create these highly sought after, allocated wines. Famed Chinon winemaker Charles Joguet was once quoted as saying, "There are two suns. One shines outside for everybody. The second shines in the Foucaults' cellar." This is the winery's entry level Saumur-Champigny, but it is every bit as beautiful as any we have tasted, single vineyard or otherwise. So now you're in the know. Buy whatever you can.

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Laurent’s 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape continues to show brilliantly. Made from the standard estate blend of 85% Grenache and then 5% each of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Vaccarese, aged all in concrete tank, it offers up a thrilling bouquet of kirsch and darker berry-styled fruits, flowers, licorice and pepper. Gorgeous on all accounts, with full-bodied richness, beautiful purity and laser focus and precision on the palate, drink this rock-star Châteauneuf anytime over the coming 10-15 years. 2005 Gramona III Lustros Gran Reserva Cava Penedes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Gramona III Lustros Gran Reserva Cava Penedes (95RP, 91WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 III Lustros Gran Reserva Brut Nature (disgorged January 2012) is a blend of 70% Xarello and 30% Macabeu from the 5-hectare -La Plana- vineyard that lies 200 meters above sea-level. It spends seven years on the lees and is dosaged with 100-year-old Solera wine. It possesses brilliant clarity on the nose with touches of oyster shell, citrus lemon, wet limestone and yellow flowers. The palate is supremely well-balanced with electrifying acidity on the entry, displaying subtle notes of apricot, lemon curd and quince that lead to a perfectly balanced finish. This is a wonderful Cava that deserves 2-3 hours aeration. (NM)" (04/2012)

This is a wine for the patient and will easily last 25+ years." (01/2007)

2005 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OCB)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OCB - 96RP) in original cardboard. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Madrona Ranch is an extraordinary wine that has a European structural profile imposed on the incredibly rich, pure fruit of Napa. Incense, creme de cassis, licorice, toasty oak, and spring flowers are all present in the complex aromatics. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, very rich in extract and depth of concentration, but there is a beautiful delineation because of the structural aspects and the sweet tannins, which are present but never aggressive. This is a beauty that should hit its stride in 5-7 years and last for three decades-plus. 96+ (RP)" (12/2008)

An incredible mouthful of stones and minerals, with uncanny intensity, juiciness and lift. At this point in my marathon tasting with Boillot, my handwriting was degenerating and I was using exclamation marks rather than adjectives. Flat-out great white Burgundy. Of the 2007 Sloan Napa Valley Red Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2007 Sloan, now in bottle, has lived up to the extraordinary quality it exhibited from barrel. A world-class, perfumed nose of charcoal, espresso roast, white chocolate, black currants, sweet plums, Asian soy and a Grave-like scorched earth aroma soars from the glass of this dense purple-colored wine. Full-bodied and seamlessly constructed with a multidimensional mouthfeel as well as a phenomenal finish, this 2007 carries considerable tannin, but at present it is concealed by the wine’s luxurious levels of fruit, glycerin and intensity. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Clos Vougeot Grand Cru ((93-96BH), (91-94ST), (89-91RP)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Don't miss!* Note that I was shown two versions of this wine, one from Domaine fruit and another that was purchased. Prost indicated that there might be two wines released or they might be blended. The wine reviewed here is from Domaine fruit and was significantly better than the purchased example. A ripe, reserved and cool nose of flat out gorgeous complexity leads to beautifully delineated, powerful and robust flavors that somehow manage to remain understated on the hugely long and spicy finish. This has the 'wow' factor in spades and is a strong candidate for the Clos de Vougeot of the vintage (along with the Leroy and Dr. George Mugneret versions). Drink: 2020+" (04/2007)

Of the 2005 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Wine Spectator writes: " *Collectibles and #8 in Top 100 Wines of 2008* Really dense and locked up now, this is packed with dark fig, currant and blackberry fruit shrouded by layers of tar, hot stone, bittersweet licorice and espresso. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Casanova di Neri "Tenuta Nuova" Brunello di Montalcino (93JS, 93RP, 92WE, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is quite a bit darker and richer than the straight Brunello. Cherries, plums, spices and French oak meld together beautifully in this silky, textured red. In 2005 the Tenuta Nuova boasts fabulous overall balance in a fairly restrained style for this bottling. Kirsch, roses and spices linger on the dark, enveloping finish. This is a terrific effort from Casanova di Neri. The Tenuta Nuova is made from vineyards in Le Cetine and Pietradonice, both located in the southern part of Montalcino. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2022. (AG)" (04/2010)

2005 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP, 92ST, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon at age ten is still a young, vibrant, dense ruby/purple -colored wine with lots of classic cassis fruit and a touch of earth undertones. It offers relatively soft and silky tannins by the standards of Montelena, but they’re there. It is full-bodied, rich and impressive. Cabernet Sauvignon from the northern end of the Napa Valley in Calistoga tends to be the St.-Estèphe of Napa. This wine is certainly one of the great ones. Forget it for another 3-4 years and drink it over the following 20-25. 93+ (RP)" (06/2015)

Of the 2004 Clos Saint-Jean "Deus Ex Machina" Châteauneuf du Pape ,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Deux-Ex Machina (always a blend of 60% tank-aged Grenache and 40% barrel-aged Mourvedre) is easily one of the top 2-3 wines in the vintage. Gorgeously perfumed, with aromas of smoked duck, lavender, black cherry, currants and licorice, it bucks the vintage profile and is voluptuously textured, with full-bodied richness and depth, masses of fine tannin and a seamless profile. Hedonistic, yet beautifully layered and balanced, it’s a great drink now, yet will continue to evolve gracefully for another decade. (JD) " (02/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95RP, 94ST, 92CG, 92WE, 91JS, 91W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Dominus continues to strut its stuff, tasting like a Napa hybrid blend of a St.-Emilion and Pomerol. Its dark ruby/purple-tinged color is followed by notions of cedarwood, spice box, roasted herbs, sweet black cherry and cassis fruit, licorice, and truffles. Full-bodied with excellent fruit intensity, complex aromatics, supple tannins, and a long finish, this 7,000-case blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot should drink well for two decades or more. 95+ points. Despite the punch and vibrancy, this is essentially a wine of finesse and nuance rather than structure and muscle." (Burghound 01/07)

The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This is beautifully balanced in the mouth, perhaps just a little conservative but with great precision and length. Despite the much longer sojourn in new oak casks, the wine seems to show less wood than its two peers. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (98RP, 95JS, 94W&S, 93ST, 93WS, 92WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This sensational, opaque blue/purple-colored wine from Smith Haut Lafitte has a gorgeous floral nose with notes of graphite, blueberries, blackberries, and cassis that jump from the glass of this inky, very dense, yet strikingly pure wine. Light on its feet despite its stunning concentration and multi-layered mouthfeel, this wine has fabulous intensity, richness and length. Quite impressive, and still incredibly youthful, this is a superstar of the vintage, and capable of lasting another 25-30 years. (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection is made in the classic Caymus style that Chuck Wagner has perfected, seemingly so easily. It’s a big, ripe Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (as it should be) coming in at 15.2% natural alcohol. This has gorgeous notes of fig, plum, blackberry, cassis, with no real oak showing through, at least at age ten. Low in acidity, opulent, sexy and fresh, it is indeed a beverage of pleasure, and Chuck Wagner certainly knows how to deliver it in spades. This full-bodied, juicy Cabernet Sauvignon will age easily for another 10-15 years, but why wait? It is that stunning at present. (RP)" (06/2015)

Of the 2004 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon,Wine Enthusiast writes: "A perfect score has to be considered in the context of its region. Shafer’s 2004 Hillside Select is tremendous as a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that competes with its peers at the highest levels. It’s always a fabulous wine, but in warm 2004, Shafer’s amphitheater vineyard sheltered the grapes, ripening them to perfection yet protecting the “iron fist in a velvet glove” structure that André Tchelistcheff defined as Stags Leap. This 100% Cabernet is tremendous in cassis, black currant and mocha flavors, and the 100% new

2005 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (97RP, 96WS, 95ST, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Possibly the youngest wine of all the 2005 Médocs in terms of its evolution, at age 10 the inky purple 2005 Pontet-Canet tastes more like a two-year-old wine. Loads of pure blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit are present along with a hint of licorice and background oak. It is full-bodied, ripe, and excruciatingly fresh, vigorous and exuberant. This is a tour de force, and a sensational effort that rivals the first growths. Give it another 5-10 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 30-40 years. 97+ points." (06/2015)

Of the 2005 Tensley "Colson Canyon Vineyard" Santa Barbara County Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The largest production cuvee (1,000 cases), the 2005 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard is one of the few Tensley wines that sees any new oak (20%). Its opaque purple color is followed by notes of beef blood, tar, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, licorice, and acacia flowers. It is a full-bodied, dense, rich, impressively endowed effort which, like its siblings, needs several years of bottle age, and should age nicely for 12 or more years. (RP)" (08/2007)

Of the 2005 DuMol Russian River Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Aromas of black fruits, tapenade, ground pepper, and spice box emerge from the 2005 Syrah Russian River. There is some herbaceousness underneath the fruit, but the wine is full-bodied, rich, complex, and comes across like a Crozes-Hermitage on steroids... Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru ((93-95RP), (92-94BH), 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Charred meat, black currant, and wet stone characterize the bouquet of Jadot’s 2005 Clos Vougeot. Savory, salty, brightly-fruited and invigoratingly juicy on the palate, this displays more energy and acidity than I would have expected from the appellation. For all of the clarity and juiciness of this wine’s fruit, grilled meat and stony earthiness combined with the emergence of formidable tannins and subtle but persistent cyanic and iodine notes to turn its formidably long finish somewhat austere. But this is going to result in an exciting rendition of its terroir if left in the dark for at least 6-8 years. (DS)" (06/2007)

Bid on this 5L-bottle of 2005 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (5L) (OWC - 90VN) in original wood. Vinous: "(14.8% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Black cherry, mocha, licorice pastille, bitter chocolate and exotic oak spices on the nose. Suave and fine-grained, conveying an almost port-like ripeness to its briary dark berry, licorice and bitter chocolate flavors. This rather chunky, seriously tannic wine is energized by firm, juicy acidity. At once medicinal and sweet, finishing with notes of espresso and bitter chocolate, ripe dusty tannins and very good length. (ST)" (05/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Sine Qua Non "Atlantis Fe203-2a,b,c" Grenache (100VN, 97RP, 95ST). Vinous: "The 2005 Grenache Atlantis Fe203-2a has been absolutely thrilling both times I have tasted it within the last year. A huge, vertical wine, Atlantis graces the palate with deep, voluptuous red fruit, crushed rocks, smoke, tobacco and mint. Even with all of its intensity and explosiveness, the wine remains light on its feet, with great balance and class to burn. The inclusion of whole clusters adds gorgeous lift and perfume, especially on the finish. At nearly ten years of age, the 2005 Grenache Atlantis is in a perfect spot right now and should continue to drink well for another 5-10 years, perhaps longer. (AG)" (07/2014)

2005 Domaine Faiveley Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Faiveley Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru ((92-95BH), 92ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Don't miss!* This too is very deftly oaked with an earthy and very ripe mix of briar, dark berry fruit and pungent underbrush aromas leading to muscled, energetic and sappy flavors where the mid-palate fat almost completely buffers the firm though not aggressive tannins that add a chewy texture to the gorgeously long finish. There is a really attractive underlying tension here but like most of these grands crus, this is a wine for the patient that will last for decades." (01/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Robert Arnoux Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru ((91-94BH), (90-93ST)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is virtually no reduction here and the soaring nose offers notes of violets, earth, red and black Pinot fruit and a distinct animale component that introduces big, robust and intense flavors that are textured, indeed even chewy but the tannic spine is well integrated on the hugely long finish. There is ample wood in evidence but there is so much concentration that the wine should integrate it successfully with time in bottle." (01/2007)

2005 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 97ST, 96JS, 95WE, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Its bigger brother, or sister, depending on the point of view, is the extremely young, fresh, vigorous, yet still exuberant and promising 2005 Harlan Estate. Normally, the blends on these wines tend to be 85%-90% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest tiny proportions of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and possibly some Petit Verdot, although I don’t recall that being a very important part of the estate vineyard. The 2005 is incredibly youthful at age ten, although certainly drinkable. And who wouldn’t consume it if they had the opportunity? It will benefit from another 5-10 years of cellaring and certainly has 30 or more years left in its evolutionary curve. Gorgeous, and tasting akin to a hypothetical Pauillac blended with a great Pessac-Léognan from Bordeaux comes to mind because of the smoky, subtle barbecue notes, fruitcake, forest floor, graphite and mineralit

2005 Domaine Lamarche La Grande Rue Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Lamarche La Grande Rue Grand Cru (95BH, 94ST, 92WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A hint of menthol adds nuance to the mostly highly-spiced red berry fruit nose that is quite reserved if beautifully complex while leading to sweet, delicious, generous and round medium full flavors that are classy and refined, all wrapped in a strikingly persistent and explosive finish. This offers excellent cellar potential and at this early stage the wood, which is normally fairly prominent, is already well integrated but note that this will need every bit of 15 years, perhaps even slightly longer, to arrive at its prime as it's very structured. A really beautiful LGR that showed even a bit better than it had only three weeks earlier as it was given the benefit of an hour's worth of air. (AM)" (04/2008)
