2005 Clos du Caillou "Reserve" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Clos du Caillou "Reserve" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 97WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The best bottle of this I've ever had, the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve was utter perfection on this occasion. Made from a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre that was raised mostly in demi-muids, it exhibits awesome notes of blackberry, licorice, smoked herbs, graphite and tinges of minerality. Decadent, massively full-bodied and with sweet tannin, this thrilling Châteauneuf is hard to resist now, yet should continue to knock it out of the park for another decade or more. (JD)" (02/2015)

2005 Bodegas El Nido "Clio" Jumilla
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Bodegas El Nido "Clio" Jumilla (95RP, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Clio, composed of 70% old-vine Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, is opaque purple-colored with an enthralling bouquet of pain grille, spice box, violets, espresso, blueberry, and blackberry. Layered, opulent, and full-flavored, this thick wine has superb concentration and balance. It will evolve for 6-8 years and drink well through 2025. The winemaking at the El Nido project is overseen by renowned Australian vigneron Chris Ringland. After a meticulous selection process, the grapes are basket pressed and fermented in oak. Malolactic fermentation occurs in new French and American oak where the wine remains for 26 months. (JM)" (02/2008)

2005 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (97RP, 96WS, 95ST, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Possibly the youngest wine of all the 2005 Médocs in terms of its evolution, at age 10 the inky purple 2005 Pontet-Canet tastes more like a two-year-old wine. Loads of pure blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit are present along with a hint of licorice and background oak. It is full-bodied, ripe, and excruciatingly fresh, vigorous and exuberant. This is a tour de force, and a sensational effort that rivals the first growths. Give it another 5-10 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 30-40 years. 97+ points." (06/2015)

2005 Carter "Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley (375ml)
Bid on this 375 ml 2-bottle lot of 2005 Carter "Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley (375ml) (98RP, 95WS, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Carter Cellars 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon comes in at a rather modest 14.1% natural alcohol, which probably reflects the cool 2005 growing season. At more than $200.00 a bottle, this may be one of the last Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernets at that price point, and one probably impossible to find except in the auction arena. This wine just has it all - floral notes, crème de cassis, minerality and graphite in what could be a Napa-hypothetical blend of the best of Bordeaux's Margaux and Pauillac appellations. This is a magical site. (Nearly any capable winemaker producing wine from there has proven that time after time.) This is a killer effort - young and fresh, with at least 20 years upside to it. Pushing perfection, it is still a young wine that, like the Coliseum Block, tastes like it's two or thr

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Leflaive Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru ((94-95RP), 94BH, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Humidity caused some viral problems in the vineyards, including some corte noue. Very closed on the nose, but with some coaxing that limestone and granite scent comes forth, then some apple-blossom and a touch of gun smoke. The palate of powerful and citrus-like with a touch of honeysuckle, tending towards a slightly unctuous, spicy finish. A gregarious wine with great breeding and verve. Drinking 2012-2018. 2005 Pahlmeyer Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Pahlmeyer Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93CG, 92RP, 92WS, 90ST). Connoisseurs Guide: "You can count on Pahlmeyer to deliver wines that are bold, big and dramatic no matter the variety, and that is exactly what you get in this ripe and substantial Pinot Noir. It is deep, outgoing and compelling in its aromas of chocolate-covered cherries, bacony oak and hints of liqueur-all of which might suggest a wine that is patently over the top. But, as with other Pahlmeyer offerings, this one is amazingly easy to drink, and its balance is both civil-ized and proportionate to its style." (02/2008)

2005 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac (92RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In this vintage, this estate (one of the leading properties in Fronsac) produced an opaque/purple blend of 75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines averaging 25 years of age. Offering beautiful black cherry and black raspberry fruit, abundant chalk, minerality, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and a long finish, this over-achieving, full-throttle Fronsac is a brilliant example of the vintage and of this terroir. Give it another several years of bottle age, and drink it over the following 10-15 years. This sleeper of the vintage should prove to be one of the longest-lived vintages of Vieille Cure to date. Kudos to the ownership. (RP)" (06/2015)

Of the 2005 Bond "Matriarch" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Wine Enthusiast writes: "This year’s Matriarch is very similar to Harlan Estate in structure, and in some ways, a superior wine, or at least more delicious now. Shows the most beautiful black currant, cedar, blueberry pie and Asian spice flavors. What makes the structure so gorgeous are the firm tannins. Ultimately, it’s a refined, exquisite red wine. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 95ST, 95VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan is perfection! It was too easy to deliver the ultimate three-digit score. A sensational nose of pen ink, graphite, forest floor, crème de cassis, a hint of white chocolate, and cedar wood are all present in this majestic, multi-layered wine built like a skyscraper. The freshness is still a component part of this full-bodied, stunningly concentrated wine that is pure Napa purity, power and compelling intensity. The flavors however do seem entirely up to the job of integrating the wood as they are big, rich, powerful and well-muscled, brimming with both minerality and dry extract on the impressively long finish. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Larcis-Ducasse, St-Emilion (100RP, 94CG, 94ST, 94WS, 90W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "With an unbelievable nose of licorice, tapenade, black cherry and blackcurrant liqueur, as well as full body, super-sweet tannin, and astonishing richness and length, this prodigious effort in 2005 announced the resurrection of this great terroir on the slopes near Château Pavie. Clear and invigorating in fruit, yet creamy and mouth-coating, this brings spices, flowers and a note of chalk into its long, refined finish. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Georges Roumier Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru "Clos de la Bussière" (91BH, (90-91RP), 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Like the rest of the wines here at the time I tasted, Roumier’s 2005 Morey St. Denis Clos de la Bussiere had been sulfured and racked in autumn after a very late malo and was in barrel awaiting imminent assemblage in tank for (unfiltered) bottling. It was slightly reduced but responded well to a good shaking, displaying subtle black fruits, high-toned almond and maraschino, roasted meatiness, resin, and forest floor notes on the nose. It fills the mouth with roasted meat richness, bitter-sweet black fruits, high-toned distilled fruit esters, and finishes with solidity, grip, and savory saltiness. (DS)" (04/2007)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a hot vintage and incredible any way you look at it, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has that laser-like focus of a cooler year, yet the voluptuousness and richness of a warmer year. Smoked black fruits, coffee, truffle and pen ink-like aromas and flavors all emerge from this massive, incredibly full-bodied effort and on the palate, it carries itself perfectly with a weightless, yet decadent texture, masses of polished tannin and blockbuster length. Gorgeously rich, with high tannins, high extract, and superb purity and concentration, this is a beautiful wine that may be even better than my score. 2005 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 98RP, 96WS, 95ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for one of the wines of the vintage, this stunning 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford includes in its blend some of the oldest Cabernet vines in existence in Napa Valley. It tips the scales at a lofty 15.4% alcohol, but believe it or not, it is strikingly elegant and pure, with laser-like precision. Inky, dark ruby/purple, with a stunning nose of forest floor, creme de cassis and a subtle, earthy minerality, the wine is built like a skyscraper, with a multidimensional mouthfeel and incredible complexity and richness, yet it never comes close to tasting heavy or overwrought. This is just a great terroir, great winemaking, and the results are profound. It seems to be drinkable now, but is capable of at least another 10-20 years of full-throttle pleasure. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Maison Nicolas Potel Romanée St-Vivant Grand Cru ((97-98RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Potel 2005 Romanee-St.-Vivant displays absolutely riveting richness and complexity from stem to stern. Roasted meats, soy-like savor and pure essence of elderberry, black raspberry and plum are wreathed in iris and lilies, scented with clove and star anise, and tinged with citrus zest. This saturates and stains the palate, yet in the silkiest, most subtle, tender way while leaving behind a profound sense of minerals. “Lush” and “luscious” gain new meaning. The wine’s sensuality and elegance keeps one from focusing on its sheer density but that too is formidable. Surely this will be worth cellaring for 15-20 years. (DS)" (06/2007)

Huge honeysuckle, nectarine, and citrus oil notes along with some lemon blossom, crushed rocks, and subtle smoke are all present in this full-bodied wine that is buttressed by sensational acidity. This is a gorgeous wine that should age for at least a decade. This 121-acre estate with 114 producing acres of vineyard all located in Knight’s Valley continues to be at the top of their game and I can’t recommend the wines highly enough. (RP)" (12/2007)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Dancing Hares Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95WS). Wine Spectator: "Offers wonderful richness, depth and concentration, with pure currant, black cherry and berry fruit that's supple, polished and very ripe, but still well within bounds. Ends with a long, rich, complex finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2016." (06/2009)

2005 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 96WS, 94VN). Wine Spectator: "This gushes with boysenberry reduction, linzer torte and loganberry flavors allied to a rich, creamy mouthfeel. But there's also plenty of grip, with underlying notes of mocha, mineral, sweet toast and incense that add volume and definition to the lengthy finish. Drink now through 2030. 350 cases imported. 2005 Domaine Jean Tardy Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Boudots" Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Jean Tardy Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Boudots" Vieilles Vignes (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*** Outstanding *** (From 70+ year old vines) An expressive nose of almost exclusively black and blue fruits and an array of spices that suggest Vosne more than a fine Nuits yet the Nuits character of pungent earth and a distinct animale component is on parade on the mouth coating, textured and sweet big-boned flavors, underpinned by firm tannins that are tamed by the serious dry extract levels that drench the palate on the serious but delicious finish. This is already starting to close up but in time this should be a lovely combination of power and elegance. Drink from 2015+" (01/2008)

2005 La Confession, St-Emilion
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 La Confession, St-Emilion (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Opaque purple, with a sweet blue and blackberry perfume intertwined with licorice and graphite, the 2005 La Confession exhibits massive concentration and extraction, but this full-bodied wine pulls back from being over-the-top because of intrinsic freshness and admirable purity. It is a brilliant effort from the young Janouiex, but it needs some cellaring. (RP)" (04/2008)

2005 Domaine de Courcel Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine de Courcel Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens" (94BH, (93-94RP), 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Courcel 2005 Pommard Rugiens comes from the chalkiest, upper portion of that great site (in fact, just below the domaine’s Vaumuriens). Everything about this wine just seems to be pulling together today – and in a promising direction. Mulberry, cassis, roasted meats, and black chocolate in the nose are joined by stimulatingly salty and soy-like savory notes on the palate. Full and rich but finely structured with incipient creaminess of texture, this displays impressive reach and grip and a seamless integration of fruit, meat, and mineral elements. (DS)" (07/2007)

2005 Nicolas Potel Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Aux Echanges"
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2005 Nicolas Potel Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Aux Echanges" (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the 2.3 acre premier cru portion of an obscure and relatively low-elevation site that is the monopole of an investment consortium, Potel’s 2005 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Echanges is one of the few Potel wines that endured a protracted malo, finishing only in December after being transferred to tank. Aromas and flavors of salted cassis and blackberry, wood smoke, tea, narcissus, smoked meat and soy make a highly-concentrated and complex impression. The long finish here is dark and brooding in a vintage-typical way, meaty, smoky and black-fruited. This wine temporarily betrays its recent bottling following such a late malo. 91+ points.
