2005 Pax "Castelli-Knight Ranch" Russian River Valley Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Pax "Castelli-Knight Ranch" Russian River Valley Syrah ((93-95RP)). 93-95 points Robert Parker: "There are 370 cases of the 2005 Syrah Castelli-Knight Ranch. No weakling at 15.7% alcohol, it comes across like a Rhone Valley Hermitage given its good acidity, structured, tannic, masculine mouthfeel, and enormous, rich, camphor-infused blackberry fruit. It requires 3-5 years of cellaring, and should keep for two decades." (12/06)

2005 Chimney Rock Stags Leap District Cabernet Franc
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Chimney Rock Stags Leap District Cabernet Franc. Chimney Rock is a celebration of Napa's smallest and highly acclaimed AVA, Stags Leap District. The winery is owned by the Terlato family, who have had a decisive role in American wine as importers, distributors, and winemakers (Anthony Terlato is credited with introducing Pinot Grigio to Americans in 1979). From the winery: "While the Stags Leap District is widely recognized as one of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon locations in the world, Cabernet Franc also thrives in this region. Often utilized as a blending component for its bright red fruit flavors and spicy black pepper aromas, Cabernet Franc can also stand on its own in exceptional years."

2005 Delectus "Cuvee Julia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Delectus "Cuvee Julia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (92CG). Connoisseurs Guide: " *Two Stars* Delectus's self-claimed bottling of its very best lots reflects the winery's seeming belief that bigger is better, and, in this case, the argument is hard to refute. Deep and absolutely brimming with very rich, oak-buttressed fruit, it offers far more than a one-note display of ripeness and shows touches of vanilla, tea leaf, dark earth and black olives as accents to its central themes of currants. Its ample tannins and finishing heat are par for very ripe Cabernet, but they are countered step for step by its remarkably tenacious fruit, and seven or eight years of growth is a very safe bet for adoring fans of the style." 2005 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K Straw Man" Marsanne Vin de Paille (375ml)
Bid on this half-bottle of 2005 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K Straw Man" Marsanne Vin de Paille (375ml) (100RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even more remarkable is the 2005 Mr. K. Marsanne Vin de Paille The Straw Man. One-hundred percent Marsanne from the Beckmen Vineyard, with remarkably low alcohol (7.5%), a whopping 392 grams of residual sugar per liter, and exceptional acidity (6.4 grams of acid per liter), this is one of the most singular sweet wines I have ever tasted. It rivals the great 2000 Suey that was made from Roussanne and ended up with 241 grams of residual sugar. The individualistic, prodigious sweet wines are the products of meticulous attention to detail, obsessive harvesting requirements, and amazing vinifications and upbringings. They are unbelievable elixirs, and this one is as complex and intense as any sweet wine made in the world. It is a fitting tribute to the genius of both Manfred Krankl and his late partner, Luis Kracher. (RP)" (06/2008)

Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2005 Brane-Cantenac, Margaux (375ml) (95RP, 94WE, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sexy, style of wine from the Lurtons at Brane-Cantenac, this wine (a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc) has a stunning nose of forest floor, licorice, blackcurrants, plums and spring flowers. Soft tannin, full-bodied opulence and beautifully textured, lush richness, make for a brilliant wine from this large, 180-acre vineyard. In spite of the wine’s stunning forward fragrance and lushness, the color still looks as if it is 3-4 years old, rather than a decade. This is a big-time winner in 2005 and should drink well for at least another 25+ years. (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Pax "Cuvée Keltie" North Coast Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Pax "Cuvée Keltie" North Coast Syrah (93ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky violet. This smells uncannily like a top-level Northern Rhone wine, with potent dark berry, smoked meat and violet scents complicated by graphite and iron. Smoky and lush, with vivid blackberry and cassis flavors, excellent depth and fine, silky tannins; a hint of mocha comes up with air. Juicy, concentrated and long, finishing with an impressive interplay of fruit and minerals." (06/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Pruliers" ((90-92BH), (90-92RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Being assembled the day I visited, the Gouges’ 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Pruliers offered smoke-tinged, lightly-cooked black raspberry and dried cherry fruit, sweet underlying nuttiness, and a juicier, more invigorating personality than any of the already bottled wines in this year’s collection. A really imposing spread of berry, floral, roasted meat and saline mineral elements coat the palate. Abundant but fine tannin never interferes with this wine’s generosity. (DS)" (06/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild, Pauillac (94RP, 93WS, 91ST, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest Duhart-Milon ever made? This structured, tannic, dense ruby/purple-tinged Pauillac offers up hints of cassis, licorice, chocolate, and earth. Medium to full-bodied with good purity, strong tannins, and undeniable elegance, it reveals a character not dissimilar from its renowned sibling, Lafite-Rothschild... It is unquestionably outstanding, but to my taste, slightly less opulent than the estate’s ethereal 2003. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030. (RP)" (04/2008)

2005 Dominique Laurent Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Sentiers" Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Dominique Laurent Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Sentiers" Vieilles Vignes. According to Stephen Tanzer: "Laurent has built his negociant business on buying essentially two types of wines: those that get what he calls a naif vinification, featuring gentle extraction and minimal intervention (Laurent often calls these "vins de paysanne") and those made entirely from whole clusters (the vendange entier method). Wherever possible he works with ancient vines, often true pinot fin. Because his elevage helps to preserve the genetic identity and the energy of the wines he selects, he tends to outperform in very ripe years. Not surprisingly, his 2005 collection offers plenty of thrills." (International Wine Cellar, 03/07)

This wine needs 3-4 years of bottle age, and should last 25-30 years. (RP)" (12/2007)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cuvee Moriah (a blend of 75% Grenache, 14% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, and 1% Roussanne) is deep ruby/purple with huge amounts of peppery black raspberry and kirsch notes, a touch of underbrush and fennel as well as a long, heady finish. Its dark ruby/purple-tinged color is followed by notions of cedarwood, spice box, roasted herbs, sweet black cherry and cassis fruit, licorice, and truffles. Full-bodied with excellent fruit intensity, complex aromatics, supple tannins, and a long finish, this 7,000-case blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot should drink well for two decades or more. 95+ points. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet in color, the 2005 Amon-Ra displays aromas of pure black currant cordial, dark chocolate, violets and toast with a hint of raw meat and touch of Indian spices. Full-bodied with a taut and muscular frame defined by firm grainy tannins, it is still very youthful and offers fresh, crisp acid that retains nice vibrancy through the long finish. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Clos Fourtet, St-Emilion (98RP, 95WS, 94WE, 92ST, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Clos Fourtet is on a roll, having produced a stunning wine in 2003, and an even more brilliant effort in 2005. Stephane Derenoncourt, the consulting oenologist, has plenty with which to work given the fact that this is a relatively large vineyard (50 acres) planted with 85% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc as well as a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. The inky/blue/purple-colored 2005 boasts an exceptional perfume of acacia flowers, blackberry and blueberry liqueur, graphite, scorched earth, and background oak. The wine possesses a full-bodied texture and abundant quantities of stunningly pure black fruits. The result is a sumptuous St.-Emilion of great concentration, intensity, and overall balance. 2005 Aubert "Reuling Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 350 cases of the 2005 Chardonnay Reuling Vineyard, which comes from the Goldridge soils of this Sonoma Coast site. This Chardonnay comes from a clone suitcased over from the Montrachet vineyard in Burgundy. There is no doubting the liquid minerality, striking honeyed citrus, white currant, hazelnut, and brioche notes are more French than California, but the power and richness are pure New World. An absolutely remarkable Chardonnay that is certainly one of the top half dozen or so Chardonnays I have ever tasted from California, this is a stunningly proportioned, profound wine that should drink beautifully for 5-7 years, if you can resist it that long. This is steep hillside vineyard stuff with a dense, dark purple color, a phenomenally rich nose of brioche, acacia flowers, blackberry, and blueberry jam intermixed with some white chocolate and perhaps hints of fig and truffle. The wine is spicy, full-bodied, incredibly opulent, and thick, even unctuously textured, with great purity and richness. Moreover, the glycerin and viscosity cover up some huge tannins. Connoisseurs Guide: "Almost sure to raise controversy with its involving aromas of leather, roasted coffee, scorched chocolate and herbs, this unique offering smacks ever so faintly of Syrah and may not fit the fruity Cabernet model, but its complexity is beyond any argument. It is smooth and supple in feel with plenty of palatal weight and a fine sense of polish, and its neatly fit spine of firm structural tannins is precisely the stuff of fine Cabernet. A few years of age should make a good thing better, and it has room enough for ten years of growth." (04/2009)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 97RP, 96JS, 96ST, 95WE, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Not unexpectedly, the 2005 Harlan Estate performed slightly better than it did last year. As these wines often do, it continues to put on weight as it is bottled very late by Napa standards, and there is no fining or filtration. The 2005 exhibits a gorgeous thick-looking, ruby/purple color in addition to a beautiful nose of burning embers interwoven with creme de cassis, roasted meats, sweet black truffles, and spring flowers. A hint of lead pencil shavings also emerges from this cuvee, which seems to want to be both a Pauillac and a ripe vintage of La Mission Haut Brion. Full-bodied, dense, pure, and revealing sweeter tannin than I remember, it can be drunk now, but it will no doubt display even greater complexity in 10, 20, and 30 years. (RP)" (12/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Aubert "Lauren Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (98RP, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another utterly profound wine is the 2005 Chardonnay Lauren Vineyard. A gorgeous nose of wet rocks, white currants, flowers, pineapple, and honeysuckle are all present in this vivid, full-bodied, powerful wine that tastes like a Chevalier-Montrachet from France. Stunningly rich, pure, and long, this is another tour de force from Mark Aubert, who certainly has the Midas touch when it comes to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It should drink well for 5-8 years." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another Russian River vineyard, the 2005 Syrah Walker Vine Hill, which creeps up toward 15% alcohol, is 100% Syrah, with beautiful blackberry, white chocolate, and blueberry notes intermixed with some graphite and lavender. The wine is full-bodied, almost inky in the mouth, with sensational richness, voluptuous texture, and a stunningly long finish. This is a brilliant Syrah to drink over the next decade or more." Harlan Pinot Noir (92RP, 91ST, 90BH) and 1-bottle of 2005 Calera "Jensen" Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir (95RP, 92BH, 92ST, 90WS). Of the 2005 Calera "Jensen" Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "My favorite from Calera is usually the Jensen Vineyard, and the 2005 Pinot Noir Jensen is prodigious. Complex notes of sweet plum, pomegranate, and cherry are followed by subtle wood smoke, forest floor, underbrush, and sauteed mushrooms. This broad, complex, full-bodied wine has stunning concentration, length, and richness. Very primary and young, it seems to have at least 15 years of aging ahead of it. This is a very impressive wine from Calera, as is the 2005 vintage overall." (08/2009)

2005 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Proprietary Red
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Proprietary Red (96RP, 95CG, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Proprietary Red is significantly better than what I tasted last year, although I certainly gave it a high score. This wine has fleshed out beautifully. The final blend (84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec) has a deep purple color, a beautifully sweet nose of blackberries and cassis intermixed with some meatiness, smoke, and a touch of pain grille as well as notes of espresso and licorice. Full-bodied, rich, with decent acidity, excellent delineation, and moderately high tannin, this is a beauty that should evolve for 25-30+ years It is no wimpish wine at 15.2% natural alcohol, but that is buried beneath a cascade of gorgeous fruit and glycerin. This wine should be cruising along brilliantly in 2030+." (12/2007)

2005 Beau-Séjour-Bécot, St-Emilion
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2005 Beau-Séjour-Bécot, St-Emilion (94RP, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The bottled 2005 Beau Sejour Becot confirms that this is the finest effort from this estate in the thirty years I have been covering Bordeaux. A classic blend of 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, it is an intense, full-bodied St.-Emilion revealing notes of espresso roast, chocolate, blackberries, licorice, and truffles. With sweet but noticeable tannins, good acidity, and a powerful, long finish, this textbook St.-Emilion cuts a swath between the modern school of winemaking and the traditionalists. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030+." (04/2008)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Saxum "Rocket Block - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 94WS, 92ST, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Another superb southern Rhone-like blend (Chateauneuf du Pape-like actually) that comes from a single block of James Berry Vineyard, the 2005 Rocket Block James Berry Vineyard offers off-the-hook levels of sweet blackcurrants, black raspberries, exotic spices, crushed flowers and hints of incense on the nose. Full-bodied, super-concentrated and sweetly fruited, with a voluptuous and rounded texture, this beauty is drinking perfectly now, and should continue to thrill for another 4-5 years. 2005 Philip Togni "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Philip Togni "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is a more closed and restrained style of wine, with firm tannins, Bordeaux-like austerity, but dense ruby/purple with notes of menthol, black currant liqueur, coffee, and a hint of olive. The wine is full-bodied, youthful, tannic, and a promising candidate for long-term cellaring. In fact this kind of vintage at Togni generally means laying the wine away for at least a decade, which is always good advice here. This may be a 30- to 40-year Togni Cabernet Sauvignon. 2005 La Bienfaisance, St-Emilion
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 La Bienfaisance, St-Emilion ((88-91ST), 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Aromas of kirsch and damp earth show an almost porty ripeness. Rich, broad and full but classically dry; offers impressive volume but comes across as a bit massive and chunky. This cold, north-facing terroir can support a hot year like 2005, notes consulting winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt. Still, I would not describe this as an elegant style. Finishes with building tannins." (05/2007)

Wine Spectator: " *Ranked #8 in the Top 100 Wines of 2008 & a Collectibles designation* Really dense and locked up now, this is packed with dark fig, currant and blackberry fruit shrouded by layers of tar, hot stone, bittersweet licorice and espresso. The long, dense finish has a great tug of iron buried within it. Best from 2011 through 2030." (04/2008)

2005 Seavey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Seavey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The densely black/purple-colored 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has the telltale burning ember, blackberry, and cassis notes, with hints of underbrush, espresso roast, chocolate, and subtle oak. A large, full-bodied wine of admirable intensity, terrific length, and no hard edges, this is a beauty that has put on weight since I tasted it in barrel and immediately after bottling last year. It should evolve effortlessly for 35+ years. As I said last year, there is a strong argument to be made that this is the most underrated great Cabernet Sauvignon produced in Napa Valley. 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a hot vintage and incredible any way you look at it, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has that laser-like focus of a cooler year, yet the voluptuousness and richness of a warmer year. Smoked black fruits, coffee, truffle and pen ink-like aromas and flavors all emerge from this massive, incredibly full-bodied effort and on the palate, it carries itself perfectly with a weightless, yet decadent texture, masses of polished tannin and blockbuster length. More classic and textbook than the 2007, it is every bit as good. Enjoy it over the coming two decades or more. Drink now-2033. (JD)" (06/2013)

2005 Revana Family Vineyard St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Revana Family Vineyard St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 92RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Slightly more concentrated, but at the same time more reserved and backward, is the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep plum/purple in color with a sweet nose of burning embers, charcoal, black currants, and some subtle smoked herbs, the wine again displays terrific aromatic complexity and a full-bodied, nicely layered palate impression, with integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol, and wood. It is a slightly deeper, richer wine than the 2004, and the tannins seem slightly more elevated, but this wine has great balance, and just needs 1-2 years of bottle age. It should actually eclipse the 2004 in 3-4 years." (12/2008)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Saxum "Bone Rock-James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (97RP, 95ST, 94WE, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While I wasn’t able to taste the 2004, the 2005 James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock is a knockout. A blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Grenache that was aged in 500-liter French oak puncheons, it boasts a thrilling bouquet of cassis, lead pencil shavings, licorice and toasted spices. Seamless, pure and layered, with superb concentration and perfect balance, it has sweet tannin and an awesome finish. Give it a short decant if drinking anytime soon. (JD)" (07/2014)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Aubert "Ritchie Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (96RP, 96ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard has notes of nectarines, lemon oil, marmalade, roasted pineapple, and a hint of smoky, toasty oak, but a very subtle one. Stunningly rich, full-bodied, opulent, but with zesty acidity (a hallmark of all these 2005s), this wine looks set for 5-7 years of evolution." (12/2007)
