Bid on this 2-bottle 1979&1989 Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 1979 Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot and 1-bottle of 1989 Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot. Of the 1979 Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot, While many of California's young wineries, especially those in the Napa Valley, chose to focus their energy on Cabernet Sauvignon, Dan and Margaret Duckhorn bucked the trend, devoting a lot of energy to Merlot as a stand-alone wine, not just as a blending grape.

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (95VN, 94CG, 94WS, 93RP, 93W&S). Vinous: "Healthy dark red. Wonderfully complex, vibrant nose combines cherry, gravelly minerality, smoke, leather and truffley underbrush. Offers a compelling combination of sweetness of fruit and energy; here a subtle hint of herbs just adds to the appeal of this densely packed, utterly fresh wine. Finishes with very suave tannins and terrific lingering perfume. This firmly structured cool-vintage beauty should continue to evolve positively for at least another decade. (ST)" (07/2016)

2002 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 96CG, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 boasts an inky/purple color along with notes of graphite, violets, blackberries, creme de cassis and hints of charcoal and barbecue in addition to a full-bodied, multilayered mouthfeel that builds incrementally with great purity, staggering fruit concentration, and a long, velvety, 50+-second finish. 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stein" Central Coast Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stein" Central Coast Grenache (97RP, (95-97VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Starting with the Grenache release, the 2012 Grenache Stein is a blend of 76% Grenache, 16% Syrah, and 8% Mourvedre, aged in 14% new French oak (15% was in concrete), that comes mostly from the estate's Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, but also includes grapes from the Cumulus, Third Twin (Syrah) and Bien Nacido vineyards. Checking in at 15.7% alcohol, it's no lightweight, yet it has considerable elegance in its sweet blackcurrants, white pepper, licorice, baking spices and hints of violet-like aromas and flavors. Possessing the hallmark purity of the estate, it's full-bodied, concentrated, rich and textured, with sweet tannin barely noticeable on the finish. I don't think it's one of the greatest Grenaches from the estate, yet it's still an incredible effort that will benefit from short-term cellaring and have 15-20 years or more of overall longe

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chardonnay Cix Estate is 100% Montrachet clone and shows notes of liquified stones, quince, honeysuckle, caramelized citrus, and hints of tropical fruits such as pineapple and nectarine. This is a beauty of great intensity, richness and length – another remarkable Chardonnay from Aubert (RP)" (10/2016)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Jonata "La Sangre de Jonata" Santa Ynez Valley Syrah (97RP, 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Reminding me of a top Hermitage, the 2012 La Sangre de Jonata checks in as a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier that's aged primarily in neutral and larger oak barrels. It's flat-out gorgeous in 2012 and gives up tons of black raspberry, crushed violets, cracked pepper and hints of game. Full-bodied, seamless, silky and fabulously pure, it has good acidity and fine tannin that come through on the finish. Give it a few years and enjoy bottles through 2032. (JD)" (08/2015)

Of the 2006 Cayuse "En Chamberlin" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2006 Syrah En Chamberlin Vineyard is even more complex aromatically (perhaps kinky is a better word) with its notes of crushed stone, smoked meat, well-aged game, blueberry, and black raspberry. Full-bodied, ripe, intensely flavored yet elegant, it has a 60-second finish that is pure silk. (JM)" (10/2009)

He also bottles wines under his own label, like this vibrant Petite. Everything about it is bright, especially the color, a dense purple with electric ruby edges. The flavors build on fresh fig and plum, dense, rich and beautifully clean. The tannins are chalky rather than chocolatey (earthy rather than oaky). A sleek Petite to age ten years or more." Under the wine-making direction of Tuck Beckstoffer and Shawn Johnson, they have selected vineyards on Pritchard Hill, St. Helena and Pope Valley along with a small amount of Mendocino fruit. By blending Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc, they have created a wine with complex aromas, great balance and a long smooth finish.

2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 1,580 cases of the 2012 James Berry Vineyard and it reminds me of the 2009 Janasse Chaupin (which is one of Justin’s favorite wines). Incorporating more Mourvedre than normal, it’s made from 43% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 10% Counoise that’s aged in a combination of concrete and barrel. Rock star stuff, with fabulous black raspberry, cassis, spring flowers and charred meat aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, yet stays lively, incredibly pure and elegant, with lots of fine tannin emerging on the finish. It will benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar and have 15-20 years of ultimate longevity. (JD) 97+" (08/2014)

2014 Scarecrow "M. Étain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Scarecrow "M. Étain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Celia Welch has hit a home run again with the legendary J.J. Cohn Vineyard in Rutherford, a site that includes a block of old vines planted in 1945, which certainly must make them some of the oldest Cabernet vines in all of Napa Valley. There are 2,000 cases of the 2014 Monsieur Etain, which is a great enough Cabernet by itself. Wonderfully pure crème de cassis notes with some white flowers, lead pencil shavings and incense are followed by a deep, full-bodied wine with silky tannins, a layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel and a beautiful finish of 40+ seconds. This is an exquisite, dense, rich but sexy Cabernet Sauvignon. And now for the good news -- there are 2,000 cases of it. Drink it over the next 20 or more years. (RP)" (12/2016)

2013 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100JS, (98-100RP), 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "2013 was characterized by slightly more clusters, but they were smaller with very tiny berries. The vintage itself was another warm, drought year, but like 2012, there were no real spikes of heat. Growing conditions – other than the continued drought in California – were easy. These wines share the same characteristics with the 2012s and I’ll have a greater peg on them once they’re in bottle, but as you can tell, the production ranges from a very small 240 cases of the Georges III in Rutherford to 640 cases of the Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon LPV. Wines, at least from barrel, that have three-digit score potential include the Cabernet Sauvignon RBS from Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, the Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon T-6 and the Cabernet Sauvignon LPV from the Las Piedras Vineyard. Bid on this bottle of 2010 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Butteaux" (95RP, 95VN, 93BH, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I ordered a bottle of the 2010 Chablis 1er Cru les Butteaux at the impeccable Au Fil du Zinc restaurant in Chablis and immediately grabbed my pen to scribble a tasting note. This is such a scintillating Chablis, one that encapsulates everything great about the 2010 vintage. The nose is mineral through and through--imagine getting down on your hands and knees and just inhaling limestone after a shower. The palate continues that tensile, mineral-driven theme. It is incredibly tense, perhaps benefiting from a slight, but pleasant reduction towards the finish, with awesome length and precision. What a fantastic Butteaux from Domaine Raveneau. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine Roulot Meursault "Les Tessons - Clos de Mon Plaisir" (92BH, 91RP, 91ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An expressive nose of lemon, lime, white peach, spice hints and ripe pear gives way to rich and fuller-bodied flavors that possess excellent intensity and detail on the powerful, focused, chiseled and moderately austere finish that displays a beguiling mouth feel. As good as the Tillets is, there is another dimension present here. Either way, you can't lose. *Outstanding*" (07/2010)

2008 Domaine des Chézeaux (Ponsot) Clos-St-Denis Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine des Chézeaux (Ponsot) Clos-St-Denis Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes. Praise for the producer from Antonio Galloni in Wine Advocate: "Jerome Chézeaux farms a total of 11.2 hectares of vineyards, of which 6.6 are estate owned. The fruit is 100% destemmed. Chezeaux favors fairly lengthy macerations. New oak levels are on the low side. As is the case at many estates, the 2009s have a slight upper hand in many of the entry and mid-level wines, while at the high end the 2008s are superb. Either way, these are some of the most beautiful, classically built wines I tasted on my trip. Patience is required, though, as these are sturdy wines that need bottle age." (5/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Around 60% of the crop that informed Bouchard’s 2008 Volnay Caillerets Ancien Cuvee Carnot was spared by the July hail, and around 40% of that remainder declassified. But these circumstances still leave 8-9,000 bottles worth, which I tasted from tank. Musky narcissus, smoky Lapsang black tea, and black fruits on the nose lead to a silken-textured yet invigorating, subtly tart but berry-ripe palate suffused with chalk and savory salinity. This finishes with precisely the sort of “animated interchange of fruit, mineral, and inner-mouth floral elements” I credited to the 2006, and here the effect is both strikingly buoyant and positively reverberative. A bottle opened 24 hours earlier (for Michel Bettane, as it happens) had not lost any of its allure. I would look for at least 15 years of excitement. (DS)"

2014 Sine Qua Non "Light Motif" Central Coast Proprietary White Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Sine Qua Non "Light Motif" Central Coast Proprietary White Blend (97RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Starting with the whites and a rich, thrillingly concentrated and unctuous wine from Manfred, the 2014 White Wine Lightmotif is made from 47% Roussanne, 21% Chardonnay, 14% Petite Manseng, 11% Viognier and 7% Marsanne that spent 19 months in a combination of concrete eggs, new French oak, neutral barrels and a tiny portion in stainless steel. Coming from close to equal parts Eleven Confessions, Cumulus and Bien Nacido vineyards, this beauty sports a medium gold color to go with a rich, layered profile that carries tons of ripe peach, honeycomb, pineapple, flowers and citrus. Pure, elegant and silky on the palate, with full-bodied richness, it never puts a foot wrong, is ethereally textured and has a great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming decade. (JD)" (08/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Hospices de Beaune (Maison Louis Jadot) Corton-Cuvée Charlotte-Dumay Grand Cru (91BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is enough reduction present to warrant decanting this if you insist on committing infanticide! Otherwise the very rich and full-bodied flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration where the supporting tannins are markedly firm on the sappy and palate coating finish. This is going to required extended cellaring as it's presently very backward, indeed to the point where I wouldn't think about touching a bottle for at least 5 years and 10 would probably be necessary." Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Descendientes de Jose Palacios "Villa de Corullón" Mencía Bierzo (94RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Curiously the 2010 Corullon at this stage of development shows the effect of the wood-aging more than the younger 2011. Right now it is a lot more restrained than the 2011. You have to deep-dive into the glass to understand the wine. The fruit is more acidic strawberry, denoting freshness. It is linear rather than round, acute rather than low with superb balance and delineation, fine acidity and very good length. You really have to pull out the wine, as the palate follows the same pattern as the nose, which is not always the case. With wonderful acidity, it is a wine for the long haul. Drink 2015-2025. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93RP, 92VN, 92WS, 91ST, 90CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a beautiful wine that comes from four vineyards, Gap’s Crown, Griffin’s Lair, Terra de Promissio and Walala. It has a deep ruby/semi-opaque color that is followed by a youthful, rich and concentrated wine offering classic dark cherries, plum, licorice, ground herbs and baking-spice-driven aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, layered and structured, it opens up beautifully with air, has seamlessly integrated fruit, tannin and alcohol, and stays classy and nicely focused on the finish. Bid on this bottle of 2015 Kongsgaard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ((94-97VN), 94RP). Vinous: "A rich, layered wine, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon exudes power. Inky blue and purplish-hued stone fruits hit the palate first, followed by intriguing scents of lavender, sage, mint, graphite and herbs. Deep, powerful and explosive, the 2015 has so much fruit that the tannins are nearly buried, but they are there. Small berries and huge tannins add to the wine's considerable personality. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Preuses" (95BH, 94RP, 94VN, 93ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "It will not surprise lovers of this wine that in the 2+ years that have passed since I last reviewed this wine from bottle, not a great deal has changed. As such, it seems appropriate to simply repeat that review here: This would be almost impossible to miss this wine's origins as the marine influence on the pungently mineral, airy and superbly elegant nose is extremely strong with Chablis character to burn. The seductive middle weight flavors brim with dry extract, which does a perfect job of buffering the structural elements on the mouth coating and sappy finish that seems to go on and on. This is very Preuses in its Zen-like sense of harmony and is clearly very classy juice. I would add however that this seems a bit further along than the Vaulorent and actually could be enjoyed now even though it's still definitely on the way up. " (05/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Enrico Serafino Barolo    . Enrico Serafino has vineyards located throughout Piedmont's Langhe Barolo region, including choice districts such as la Morra, Serralunga, and Monforte. From these distinguished vineyards, Serafino produces a traditional Barolo, but with modern finesse. The fruit is entirely de-stemmed and then undergoes a fermentation and racking process to gently extract the necessary tannins for longevity and structure. 2011 Dominio de Pingus "Psi" Ribera del Duero
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2011 Dominio de Pingus "Psi" Ribera del Duero (91RP, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 PSI is pure Tempranillo from a diversity of small plots of old vineyards in different zones of the Burgos province, always north of the Duero river. The grapes fermented in cement vats and aged in a combination of used barrels from Pingus, oak vats and cement tanks. It is a bright ruby red, with notes of plums and very well-integrated wood. But what really surprised me is the palate: still medium-bodied, somehow austere and lineal, straight rather than round, not showing the warmth of the vintage or alcohol at all. 2009 Elvio Cogno Barolo Bricco Pernice
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Elvio Cogno Barolo Bricco Pernice (96VN, 94RP, 93WE, 92JS, 91W&S, 90WS). Vinous: "The 2009 Barolo Bricco Pernice is easily one of the wines of the vintage. A dark, mysterious wine, the 2009 emerges from the glass with dark red cherries, plums, menthol, sage and sweet tobacco. The 2009 Bricco Pernice has it all; expressive aromatics, layered fruit and fine tannins that are exceptionally rare in this challenging vintage. The 2009 is plush, deep and beautifully resonant, but never heavy. I imagine the 2009 will start softening a bit in a few years, but it is already virtually impossible to resist. Cogno has done a great job here. The 2009 spent three years in cask, all of which it needed. (AG) 96+" (01/2014)

2009 Ferraton Pere & Fils "Le Reverdy" Ermitage Blanc
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Ferraton Pere & Fils "Le Reverdy" Ermitage Blanc (97RP, 94WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The outrageously rich 2009 Ermitage Le Reverdy blanc (a 70-case blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne) possesses honeyed marmalade notes intermixed with hints of candle wax, quince, white currants and ginger. Unfortunately, it will be difficult to latch on to a bottle of this delicious white given the tiny production. (RP)" (12/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " The 2010 Echezeaux emerges from the glass with freshly cut flowers, bright red berries and sweet spices. It is a gorgeous, beautifully balanced wine loaded with personality. A refined, floral finish rounds things out beautifully. Magnien’s Echezeaux is sourced from parcels in Pulayeres and Rouge du Bas. Nothing gets too heady though, as there's charcoal-studded grip, smoldering coffee grinds and roasted bay leaf notes all in the background for definition and further development with cellaring. Modern, yes, but firmly grounded in its terroir. Best from 2016 through 2035." (03/2013)

2007 Feudi di San Gregorio Taurasi
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Feudi di San Gregorio Taurasi (92RP, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Taurasi is quite possibly the most lush Taurasi I have ever tasted. Layers of soft, expressive fruit caress the palate in this radiant, pleasing Taurasi. Some of the wine's accessibility has been achieved with a loss of varietal character, at least at this early stage in the wine's development. In exchange, readers will find a relatively open, giving Taurasi that won't require extended cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2022. (AG)" (06/2011)

2012 Diamond Creek "Gravelly Meadow" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Diamond Creek "Gravelly Meadow" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95VN, 94RP). Vinous: "Diamond Creek's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Gravelly Meadow opens with an intensely mineral bouquet redolent of graphite, smoke, crushed rocks, incense and dark cherry jam. There is plenty of vintage 2012 richness, but the Gravelly Meadow deftly balances opulence and structure. Today, the Gravelly Meadow is the most dense and unctuous of the wines here. 95+ (AG)" (10/2015)

Wine Spectator: "Mature in feel, but still plenty gutsy, with a bacony cedar and tobacco frame to the roasted plum and fig fruit. Lots of pepper, iron and brick dust notes weave through the finish. Grippy and plenty long, but nicely racy, with a mouthwatering saucisson note hanging on the very end. Drink now through 2021. (JM)" (11/2011)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Haut-Bergey, Pessac-Léognan (94RP, 93JS, 92ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of just over 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Merlot (last year I mistakenly wrote that the balance was Cabernet Franc), the opaque ruby/purple-colored 2009 reveals notes of scorched earth/burning embers/charcoal, black currants, ripe cherries and lead pencil shavings. Full-bodied and pure with sweet tannin, this is an under-the-radar, high quality claret to drink over the next 20-25 years. (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Ferrand Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 94JD, 94VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most impressive wines in the vintage, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape (a tank-aged blend of 90% Grenache and the rest Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsault) comes close to what was achieved in 2007. Showing the ripe, sexy style of the vintage in its crazy good bouquet of black cherries, black currants, garrigue, licorice and cured meats, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a stacked mid-palate, low acidity and a great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming 10-15 years. (JD)" (10/2016)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 La Fleur de Boüard, Lalande-de-Pomerol (93JS, 93RP, (92-93VN), 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Over-achievers in short, the 2009 La Fleur de Bouard is fabulous, with notes of blueberry, plum, licorice, white flowers and camphor followed by a full-bodied, well-endowed, textured, supple wine. Stunningly concentrated, yet silky and seductive, it should be drunk over the next 10+ years. Both of these wines, from the 50-acre estate owned by Hubert de Bouard, are the reference points for Lalande de Pomerol. (RP)" (02/2012)

2009 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac (93RP, (91-93WE), 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This property has made so many fine efforts lately that it is difficult to say the 2009 is better than their 2005. However, the 2009 is a charming, sexy, dense ruby/purple-colored offering displaying lots of ripe Merlot fruit intermixed with hints of charcoal, black raspberries, black currants, lead pencil shavings and truffles. This full-bodied, pure, nicely textured and layered Fronsac is a sleeper of the vintage that considerably over-performs for its modest price. Drink it over the next 15+ years. This is an obvious great value! (RP)" (02/2012)

2001 Rotllan Torra "Tirant" Priorat
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2001 Rotllan Torra "Tirant" Priorat ((96-98RP), 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A prodigious effort, the 2001 Tirant is a 9,000-bottle cuvee made from 30% Grenache (90-100 years old), 25% Carignan (90-100 years old), 25% young vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, and 10% Merlot. Fermented in large oak foudres and aged 12 months in new French oak, it will be bottled with neither fining nor filtration. Inky/purple-colored to the rim, it boasts a spectacular bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, and the region’s classic crushed stone minerality. This full-throttle yet remarkably elegant 2001 possesses tremendous intensity and texture as well as layers of flavor, but comes across as not over the top, overripe, or overly heavy. The 60-second finish reveals more noticeable tannin than the other cuvees. (RP)" (04/2004)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Magdelaine, St-Emilion (94RP, 94WE, 93JS, 93VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A property that has largely been replanted over the last 25 years, the 2009 is one of the best the firm of Jean-Pierre Moueix has yet released from this estate. Eighty percent of this vineyard sits on the limestone plateau and 20% on the hillsides, and the 2009 displays a classic confiture of black cherries, some crushed rocks and spring flowers in a full-bodied, yet at the same time, ethereal and rather elegant style. The wine has gorgeous fruit purity, a broad, luscious texture, and more density and richness than one normally finds in this somewhat finesse-styled wine, which seems to have achieved more depth and potential in 2009. This should be drinkable in 5-6 years and keep for 25 or more. (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 M&S Ogier L'Ame Soeur Syrah de Seysseul (92RP, 91VN, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better, and again, a superb value that competes with wines two to three time its price, the 2011 Syrah l’Ame Soeur IGP is comprised of 100% Syrah that comes from schist soils, north of Ampuis, that are very similar to what’s found in the northern part of Cote Rotie (although the schist in this more northern region is a lighter gold color). This region will most likely receive its own appellation in the near future. Elegant and finesse-driven, with hints of crushed flowers, olive, underbrush and copious red and black fruits, this medium to full-bodied beauty has fine tannin, a seamless texture and ample length on the finish. It can be consumed now, or cellared for upwards of a decade. (JD)" (12/2013)
