2013 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 James Berry Vineyard Proprietary Red is made from 45% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 8% Counoise (which Justin commented was a blend that was put together relatively late). It saw a big chunk of whole cluster (the Grenache was mostly destemmed though) and was brought up all in puncheons and foudre (the normal concrete component went to the Rocket Block). It offers up gorgeous notes of black raspberries, cherries, cassis, ground herbs and flowers. This beauty hits the palate with incredible purity, fine tannin and an overriding sense of elegance and finesse, backed up by full-bodied richness and depth. It needs to be forgotten for 3-4 years and it will drink beautifully through 2028. (JD)" (08/2016)

2008 Sine Qua Non "The Duel" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Sine Qua Non "The Duel" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (99RP, 96VN, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A prodigious effort that possesses overflowing richness and depth, the 2008 Syrah The Duel (88% Syrah, 6% Grenache and 6% Viognier, all from the Eleven Confessions Vineyard) delivers an off-the-hook drinking experience with decadent cassis, blackberry, smoked meats, crushed flowers and hints of spice all soaring from the glass. A full-bodied, unctuous Syrah that stays fresh and elegant, with vibrant acidity, it needs a solid decant if drinking anytime soon and will see its 20th birthday in fine form. Drink now-2028. Carlisle is a hugely successful winery, not only because of outstanding customer service, but because of the simple fact that it delivers great wines at extremely fair prices."

2006 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98WE, 96RP, 95ST, 94WS). Wine Enthusiast: "*** Cellar Selection *** The 2006 flagship Cabernet from Quilceda Creek is a massive wine that has just begun to emerge from its slumber. When first released the wine seemed to have entered a dumb phase, but six months later it responds to decanting and shows its muscle. Fruit flavors of black, brandied cherries, cassis and bourbon-soaked plums are wrapped in generous, layered oak. The wine is dusty, smoky, laced with streaks of licorice and brightened with sharp acids. It continues to expand further in the glass, adding flesh and spice to its frame, with a cedar/cigar box finish. (PG)" (03/2010)

Bid on this bottle of 1983 Ridge Vineyards "Langtry Road" California Claret. Praise for Ridge's cellar classics from the 1980s by Antonio Galloni: "It’s always a pleasure to have the opportunity to revisit some of the reference point wines that have emerged from Ridge over the last few years. As I have written in the past, if the United States had a formal classification of estates, Ridge would be the equivalent of a Bordeaux First Growth. These wines only serve to further reinforce that view." (06/2017)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Williams Selyem "Peay Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93ST, 93WE, 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red. Complex, highly aromatic nose combines vibrant red berries, cherry compote, floral oils, Asian spices and a whiff of tarragon. Juicy and very intense but surprisingly light on its feet; spreads out to stain the palate without any impression of weight or warmth. This energetic wine should put on weight in a couple of years but is pretty intriguing now. Very pure pinot with fully integrated tannins and excellent finishing energy and lift. (ST)" (06/2010)

There is a very mild touch of rusticity to the powerful, impeccably well-balanced and gorgeously persistent finish. This is textbook Mazis and well worth considering. *Don't miss!*" (01/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard is a gorgeous, clearly California version of a grand cru from Burgundy, such as Clos Saint-Denis or Clos de la Roche. This deep plum/garnet-colored wine offers intense berry fruit along with forest floor, spice box, earth and loads of plum, cherry and strawberry notes, moving toward darker fruits, as well as earthy, autumnal, foresty scents. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Tor Kenward "Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard" Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A magnificent effort, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard (approximately 300 cases) is reminiscent of a Bordeaux Pauillac. Cedar wood, creme de cassis, licorice, and spice box aromas soar from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple-colored cuvee. With fabulous fruit, intensity, full-bodied power, authoritative richness, and multiple flavor dimensions, this is a blockbuster Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well for 20+ years. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa County Claret (95CG, 95RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Its opaque purple color is followed by a beautiful flowery nose revealing notions of blueberry pie, blackberries, cassis and a hint of vanillin in the background. An opulent, full-bodied red with great depth, purity and richness, it is a blend of 82% Sonoma fruit and 18% Napa fruit. The texture is like a skyscraper and the wine is plush, opulent and ideal for drinking over the next 10-15 years. This brilliant estate, whose vineyards straddle the Napa/Sonoma county line at the top of Spring Mountain, continues to turn out a bevy of exciting wines that first made headlines when Bob Foley was the winemaker. 2007 Castello di Neive "Santo Stefano" Barbaresco

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barbaresco Albesani Santo Stefano shows the weight and richness that is typical of this south-facing site in Neive. A rich fabric of dark fruit, fresh roses, new leather and menthol completely cover the palate. The Santo Stefano is impeccable in its generous, enveloping fruit. The intensity and sheer depth of the fruit manages to virtually bury the tannins, but they are there. As delicious as this is today, it will be even better in a few years- time. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. 2007 Robert Foley Napa Valley Petite Sirah
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2007 Robert Foley Napa Valley Petite Sirah (95RP, 94ST, 92JS, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The black/purple 2007 Petite Sirah may well be around in 50-60 years, when most of us will be pushing up daisies. In fact, it probably needs to be forgotten for 8-10 years. A massive, pedal-to-the-metal Petite Sirah that looks like pen ink, the wine displays notes of creosote, pepper, spice box, blackberry, and blueberry, with hints of incense and floral undertones. It is dense and almost looks like syrup being poured into a glass. It is obviously not for everybody, as it is certainly a controversial New World wine, but these wines will become more and more civilized as they age, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this one is spoken of with reverence 40-50 years from now." The bouquet of coconuts, apricots, grilled almonds, and spicy oak is sensational. In the mouth, the wine is decadently rich, full bodied, and remarkably similar in taste, texture, and viscosity to d’Yquem. Retasted twice in 1989 with equally enthusiastic notes. (RP)" (01/1998)

2003 Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (94RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pepe’s 2003 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a bomb. Tar, leather, scorched earth and black fruit emerge from this dark, imposing Montepulciano. The wine comes together beautifully in the glass, as the aromas and flavors gain breadth and dimension. Despite the rich style, there is nothing excessive or over-ripe here, just exceptional balance of ripe fruit as captured by a traditional approach to vinification. A final blast of tar informs the long finish. Pepe fans will flip over the 2003, but readers who prefer subtlety over power will want to cellar this for a few years to allow for some of the baby fat to melt away. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2028. Emidio Pepe is one of Abruzzo’s reference-point producers. These traditionally made wines can show some rough edges when they are young, but they rarely disappoint when given an opportunity to mature in the cellar. (AG)" (06/2010)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Barolo Vigna d'la Roul is the most classic of these 2001 Barolos. It reveals phenomenal balance in its layers of dark cherries, violets, tar, new leather, sweet toasted oak and mentholated, balsamic overtones that develop in the glass. This massively structured, large-scaled Barolo reveals an unusual amount of detail for such a big wine. It will require considerable patience, but will offer much pleasure to those who can wait. Vigna d'la Roul is the oldest of the family's holdings and was the principal component of many of the estate's legendary wines, including the 1978 Valentino Riserva. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2026. Ideally, it is best left alone for another few years, but readers fortunate enough to own this are in for a thrilling ride once the wine opens up a bit. 2013 Orin Swift D66 "Pharaon" Côtes Catalanes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Orin Swift D66 "Pharaon" Côtes Catalanes (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cotes Catalanes Pharaon is a tiny production release that’s the top six barrels in the winery. A blend of two-thirds Grenache and one-third Syrah that was aged in equal parts new and used oak, it has thrilling notes of crème de cassis, licorice, vanilla bean and crushed rock to go with a big, full-bodied, decadent, yet still elegant and classy profile on the palate. This beauty opens up in the glass and shows more violet and floral-like nuances. Give it a year or so in bottle and drink it through 2023. (JD)" (04/2015)

2014 Aubert "UV Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Aubert "UV Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (94RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As for the 2014 Pinot Noir UV, this wine comes two-thirds from the Calera clone of Pinot Noir and the rest from a Vosne-Romanée clone (which we all know, but no one’s saying, probably emanated from the famous Domaine de la Romanée Conti estate). Lots of soft strawberry, sweet cherry and blueberry notes emerge from this wine, giving it a Côte de Nuits-like character. Slightly lighter than the Ritchie, feminine, fragrant, and beautifully round and juicy, this wine should drink well young and last ten or more years. (RP)" (12/2015)

Of the 2007 Rhys "Alpine Hillside" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Rhys Vineyards produces very ambitious wines from vines planted in specific sites in the Santa Cruz Mountains...it is almost impossible to latch on to a few bottles unless you are on the mailing list. The vineyards are generally tightly spaced (2 by 3 feet for Pinot Noir and 4 by 3 feet for Syrah), and the clonal selections are multiple in order to hopefully achieve more complexity and nuance. This is an impressive, well thought out operation, believing, certainly with Pinot Noir, in whole clusters, no racking, and a minimal, artisinal approach to winemaking. The yields are naturall

2009 Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru "Brouillards"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru "Brouillards" (91BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is aromatically much more reticent at present with more obvious floral and spice influence along with the somber and quite earthy red berry fruit notes. There is good richness and intensity to the medium-bodied and fleshy flavors that possess an emphatic finishing austerity. I like the Cistercian character this displays though it will not be to everyone's taste. Note that I suspect the current reserved quality will pass with a few years of bottle age." (05/2011)

2007 Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" Barolo Riserva
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" Barolo Riserva (96RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Riserva Ginestra is born in extremely difficult conditions. Fruit is sourced from a hillside plot with impossibly steep inclines and shallow soils (with white tufo and clay) for limited root penetration. These factors help curb the natural vigor of the grapevine and result in high quality fruit. This wine sees a long maceration period (up to 40 days) and almost six years of barrel aging in botte grande. The results are spectacular with rich floral and menthol aromas folded within the wine’s silky texture. This 2007 Riserva feels much younger than it really is. Drink: 2016-2035. (ML)" (06/2014)

2013 Hundred Acre "Few and Far Between" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Hundred Acre "Few and Far Between" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Obviously, the Eisele Vineyard next door is a first-growth quality vineyard, and so is Jayson Woodbridge’s 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Few and Far Between. This has some Cabernet Franc (5%-15%), and spends 32 months in barrel. It is an absolutely outrageously great wine from the volcanic rocks and white volcanic ash of these soils in this northeast sector of Napa to the south of Calistoga. The finish goes on for over a minute, as this wine has layers and layers of fruit. If anything, it reminded me of a Château Latour on steroids. A magnificent example, it is one of the prodigious wines of this great vintage for Bordeaux varietals in Napa. The 2013 Few and Far Between already drinks well, but will still be reveling its purchasers 35-40 years from now. The sad thing about the Few and Far Between Vineyard is that it is only a five-acre parcel. (RP)" (10/

Turns to Indian spices and cedar. Full-bodied, with an exquisite palate of utlraripe tannins that turn to velvet. Long, long finish. Cashmere. Great from barrel, great from bottle. 1997 Biondi Santi (Tenuta Greppo) Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this bottle of 1997 Biondi Santi (Tenuta Greppo) Brunello di Montalcino (93ST, 93WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Intense ruby overlaid with garnet. Very fresh aromas of ripe plum, cherry and pipe tobacco. Sweet cherry fruit emerges in the mouth, along with hints of licorice, mint, sage and white pepper. A high-toned, vibrant, elegant wine, displaying a lovely sense of balance and delineation. The texture is glossy and the tannins are full but polished. Shows no trace of heaviness or hard edges in spite of its ample structure, and closes long and sweet. A deeply satisfying Brunello from this venerable estate, and the best in many years. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 J.N. Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet Les Blanchots Dessus (93BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The barest hint of SO2 isn't enough to materially diminish the appeal of the otherwise ripe mixture of white and yellow orchard fruit, lemon zest and reserved stone hints that carry over to the impressively rich and voluminous flavors that ooze with palate staining dry extract. There is an inconspicuous hint of wood to the energetic and overtly muscular finish that delivers outstanding duration. Impressive and well-worth considering." (06/2012)

2010 Clos Rougeard "Le Bourg" Saumur Champigny
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Clos Rougeard "Le Bourg" Saumur Champigny (96RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Saumur-Champigny Le Bourg exhibits a dark red color and a deep and polished, smoky bouquet of black berries, rosemary, espresso and cedar wood. Intense and sweet, with persistent black berries and mocha aromas and an almost nutty enamel this noble, full-bodied Cabernet Franc is enormously dense and concentrated. Though still severe and far away from being developed, it is extremely well balanced and full of elegance and finesse and packed with everything a great wine needs for the next 20+ years. This Saumur-Champigny from the one-hectare cru Le Bourg, which was planted in 1948, challenges the world's finest Cabernet Francs. Although it is not easy to grab a bottle or even a case it's worth every effort. (SR)" (10/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 2006 Anderson's Conn Valley "Eloge" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Eloge's dark plum/ruby color is followed by a sweet kiss of plum, black cherry, earth, licorice, and spice box, a medium to full-bodied wine, abundant tannin, and impressive concentration, purity, and overall complexity. Reasonably evolved, and extremely seductive aromatically, with a slightly structured finish, it can be enjoyed now and over the next 15 years. Proprietor Paul Frank (a former jeweler, hence the name) has turned a great winemaker loose, resulting in a powerful, rich red with a French-like elegance and complexity.
