Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Goulots" Vieille Vigne (94RP, (91-93ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots is rich, ripe, sensual and totally inviting. The fruit is round and very beautiful, but the wine is so young I can only imagine what might develop in the coming years. The fruit positively explodes on the finish, where floral, spiced overtones add the final layers of complexity. This is a stunning bottle in every way. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. 2007 Sea Smoke "Ten" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Sea Smoke "Ten" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir (97WE, 91ST). Wine Enthusiast: " *Best of 2010, Cellar Selection* This very dense, tannic Pinot Noir represents a triumph for both the winery, the vintage and the region it represents. A multi-clone blend (hence the name) with high, cool-climate acidity and aged in 100% new oak, it’s still young, fresh and tight. The astringency throws a cloak over the raspberries, cherries, rosehip tea and Indian spice flavors, which reveal themselves only reluctantly. But they’re there, in an imposing texture of velvet and silk. This enormous wine demands time. " (03/2010)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is very spicy with an airy mix of red raspberry and black berry notes that complement well the pure, sweet and restrained middle weight flavors underpinned by sophisticated tannins and a sappy, mouth coating and intense finish. 2011 Arterberry Maresh "Juliard" Dundee Hills Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Arterberry Maresh "Juliard" Dundee Hills Pinot Noir (94RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Intense and seductively bittersweet floral perfume as well as an unusually firm structure and invigorating sense of grip to Maresh’s 2011 Pinot Noir Juliard Vineyard all point toward his inclusion -- for the first time in an Arterberry Maresh wine -- of stems... 'If there’s a vineyard to test out stems on,' says Maresh, --I thought: Juliard ' savory, meaty, rugged.'' Well, this wine is at least two of those things, yet at the same time preserves the buoyancy, vibrant brightness and outright refreshment potential inherent in 2011. The combination of palpable density with levity, fluidity, and energy is quite remarkable. Juicy fresh cherry and red currant inflected by cinnamon and their piquant pits and crunchy seeds are mingled with salted veal stock and meat juices that serve for saliva-inducement, leading to a subtly chewy and invigoratingly, crunchily inc

2011 Brittan "Gestalt Block" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Brittan "Gestalt Block" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While the elderberry, blackberry and cassis evinced by Brittan’s 2011 Pinot Noir Gestalt Block preserve a vintage-typical tart edge, they’re possessed of a succulent sweetness and embedded in a more polished, downright satin-textured palate performance than was the case with the corresponding Basalt Block. Smaller clusters and berries here make for incredible density and phenolic concentration and I can feel and taste that on multiple levels, even though those facts seem to utterly belie this wine’s refined and alluring texture. (As intimated in my introduction, root penetration and soil structure -- not just vine genetics or exposure -- almost certainly, somehow, play a role in determining these characteristics.) As this opened to the air, a sense of high-toned distilled fruit essences became penetratingly and invigoratingly evident ... (DS)" (10/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Domaine de Montille Pommard 1er Cru "Les Rugiens" (94ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(bottled in August of 2005) Bright red-ruby. Pure, precise, extremely deep aromas of raspberry and minerals; another dimension here. A huge, mouthfilling wine that conveys an impression of great volume without any excess weight. This takes over the palate in a grand cru way. Extremely youthful and perhaps already beginning to shut down. Finishes with huge but silky tannins and palate-staining persistence. This extraordinarily rich wine will need at least a decade of aging to reveal its full potential. (ST)" (03/2006)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Windy Oaks Estate "Schultze Family Vineyard - Special Burgundy Clone" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There's a full 23 cases (that's one barrel) of the 2012 Pinot Noir Schultze Family Vineyard Special Burgundy Clone, and it saw 30% whole cluster fermentation followed by 27 months in 100% new French oak. It has lots of sour cherry, currants, toasted spice, licorice and hints of underbrush to go with a medium-bodied, supple, nicely balanced feel on the palate. The Beaux Monts has a light, well-defined bouquet with crushed strawberry, red cherries, white flowers and a touch of white peach, so feminine and precise. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, ripe tannins, structured with just a touch of pepper on the masculine, tobacco tinged finish. Very backward and surly, orange rind on the aftertaste…absorbing. The Chambertin Clos de Bèze 2011 from Bruno Clair has a very succinct bouquet with red cherries, crushed strawberry and a deft touch of bergamot that is detailed and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ripe tannins and very well-judged acidity that keeps the whole thing tense and poised. This feels natural and refined with wonderful poise and grace on the delineated finish. There is some oak to be fully absorbed here, but the class shows through. (NM)" (11/2014)

2010 Rhys "Home Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Rhys "Home Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The more powerful side of the Santa Cruz Mountains comes through in the 2010 Pinot Noir Home Vineyard. Massive, incisive tannins frame black fruit, savory herbs and tar, in a sort of California version of Bonnes-Mares, with vertical tannins and great overall balance. I suppose the 2010 Home might lack just a touch of finesse, but it makes up for that with its compelling and deeply expressive personality. This is the first vintage that includes predominantly young vines from a recent replanting. It will be interesting to see how this site responds in future vintages, but I have to think the direction is pretty clear. (AG)" (08/2012)

Always one of the most consistent performers in the Faiveley portfolio, the '99 Mazis is nothing short of superb with its beautifully dark ruby color and deep, brooding aromas of earth, iron, traces of leather and dried herbs followed by intense, penetrating, full-bodied, rich, slightly wild, gamey flavors all perfectly framed by outstanding fruit/acid balance. Though not quite as detailed and mineral-laden as the equally impressive '99 Latricières, this too is very long with terrific persistence and simply oozes the unmistakable class and power of a Gevrey grand cru. The Burgundy Report agrees: "These wines need – indeed beg – time in the cellar, and from what I tasted their blend of elegance and aromaticity deserves to be successful – I only hope that there is still sufficient patience in today’s marketplace for Burgundy wines that need to be cellared." Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2010 Dehlinger "Goldridge" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (92RP, 92ST, 91VN, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Pinot Noir Goldridge and 2010 Pinot Noir Goldridge both came from cool years. The 2010 Pinot Noir Goldridge possesses a more intense bouquet of black cherries, forest floor and spice. Excellent acidity buttresses a fuller-bodied, more concentrated wine that has more substance as well as a layered mouthfeel. It should drink well for 7-10 years. The ever reliable Tom Dehlinger continues to turn out realistically priced wines of exceptionally high quality. (RP)" (12/2013)

2001 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru (93BH, 92ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A mature yet attractively fresh nose offers up floral, earthy and spicy red berry fruit aromas that are showing traces of secondary development and are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is a really lovely mouth feel to the beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors that display a subtle mineral streak before culminating in a complex, balanced and lingering finish where a touch of the wood influence resurfaces. There isn't much unresolved tannin remaining and for my taste this has arrived on the front edge of its peak drinkability though it should remain here for at least another decade. 2001 is an elegant vintage for this wine and I very much like it.\" (04/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Camille Giroud Volnay 1er Cru "Taillepieds" ((91-94BH), 92WS, 91RP, 90ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*** Sweet Spot - Outstanding *** A very ripe nose of black and blue berry fruit aromas nuanced by obvious minerality and hints of underbrush complement perfectly the impeccably balanced and concentrated flavors that explode on the sweet and hyper intense finish that goes on and on. This is a big Volnay built on a base of stone and the intense minerality defines the '05 Taillepieds from stem to stern as it were. In a word, gorgeous. Drink 2015+" (04/2007)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St-Jacques" Vieille Vignes (96RP, 94ST, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques engages all of the senses with its cool, mineral-laced fruit and expressive bouquet. This shows marvelous tension and energy, not to mention fabulous overall balance. It could not be more different in style than the 2009 tasted alongside it. Both are fabulous, though. The 2008 is one of the more backward wines of the vintage and will require considerable patience. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2033. (AG)" (05/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine de Montille Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Malconsorts" ((93-96ST), (92-95BH), (92-95RP)). "Don't Miss! Outstanding!" from Allen Maadows who scores it 92-95: "A spicy, cool, elegant and very fresh nose features notes of hoisin, soy, anise and sandalwood while seamlessly integrating with rich, full-bodied and tautly muscular flavors that possess a silky mouth feel and supple mid-palate yet the robust tannins are extremely firm as is the explosive finish. Despite the muscular aspect, this is essentially an elegant wine that is more in the vein of a gymnast than a weight lifter." (Burghound, 05/2011)

2011 Hudelot Noellat Romanee St. Vivant Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Hudelot Noellat Romanee St. Vivant Grand Cru (92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Very ripe, slightly exotic aromas of raspberry, mocha and underbrush. Highly concentrated and deep; opulent and lightly saline but a bit sullen today. Most impressive right now on the very long, slowly mounting finish, which really camps out on the palate. Vinified with 20% whole clusters but I never would have guessed it from this sample.92+ Points" (03/2014)

1969 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanee-Conti Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1969 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanee-Conti Grand Cru (90BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from a bottle with < 5 cm of ullage). 1969 was generally an excellent vintage in Burgundy and while many wines have begun to tire in the last few years, it has stayed the course reasonably well. Unfortunately, the DRC '69s, while still pretty, are not among the vintage's best even if they are wines of obvious quality. Completely bricked through. Easily the best part of the '69 RC is the nose with its soaring aromas of sous bois, caramel, brown sugar, a lovely range of spice nuances and animale undertones that give way to sweet, round and detailed middle weight flavors that reveal perhaps a bit more minerality than usual while culminating in a still focused and equally sweet finish of solid if not sensational length. The structure is almost completely resolved and I would be drinking this now and over the next decade but probably not longer than that as the wine risks

2001 Domaine J-F Mugnier Musigny Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Domaine J-F Mugnier Musigny Grand Cru (95VN, 94BH). Vinous: "Full medium red. Compellingly fresh, complex nose combines wild raspberry, minerals, smoked meat and mint. Wonderfully fine-grained and sappy, with its red berry, coffee and leather flavors conveying a distinctly youthful character. Boasts a terric spine of firm, integrated acidity and suave tannins and builds slowly and steadily on the rising finish. Great class here. Frédéric Mugnier recalled that he was quite happy with the quality of the 2001 tannins at the beginning and that he loves this vintage. "The wines were always very pretty but now they show more structure," he told me. He added that he would still wait longer to drink this wine "for more complexity and polish."" (04/2017)

Wine Spectator: "Elegant and beautifully poised between pure raspberry, cherry, wild berry, floral and mineral aromas and flavors and a vibrant structure. Nuanced nose combines raspberry, cherry, flowers, spices and pepper. Densely packed and pure, with pungent notes of pepper, flowers and spices. Wonderfully primary and light on its feet. Finishes with excellent spicy persistence. I tasted this wine's two components, one from red soil and the other from white, as well as this approximation of the final blend." (04/2006)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A completely different nose of spicy black pinot and cherry fruit aromas cut with underbrush and a subtle sauvage quality merges into velvety, smooth and round flavors that possess a certain lushness about them yet this finishes with a decided firmness. I quite like this as it's understated, pure and very well balanced and while it's not overly complex at the moment, this may come with time in bottle as the underlying material to do so is clearly here. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Joseph (Veronique) Drouhin Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Petits Monts" (93BH, 90RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is turning out somewhat better than I originally foresaw with its cool, pure and restrained nose that combines notes of various spice and floral elements with those of various red berries and plum scents. There is a really lovely texture to the precise and minerally middle weight flavors that possess outstanding depth and length on the dusty but well-balanced finale. While this beauty could certainly be enjoyed now I would suggest allowing it to slumber untouched for another 5 years or so first." (04/2016)

Its candied red cherry, sassafras and cola scents lead to a medium-bodied core of cassis, blackberries, spices, and cherries galore. Silky-textured, deep, and holding much in reserve, this concentrated, elegant wine also displays an exceptionally long finish. Projected maturity: 2008-2020. Bravo! (PR)" (08/2004)

2011 Rhys "Home Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Rhys "Home Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir (96VN, 94RP, 93ST). Vinous: "The 2011 Pinot Noir Home Vineyard bursts from glass with racy red berries, flowers, smoke, licorice, incense and orange peel. Exotic, beguiling and beautifully layered, the 2011 boasts stunning depth, yet weightless elegance and tons of pure personality. The racy, explosive finish is a marvel to behold. An utterly dazzling Pinot, the 2011 should drink well for years. It is one of the few California Pinots I would bet on to age gracefully for more than a decade. This dazzling Pinot Noir has pedigree and structure to burn. In a word: superb! Home was the first parcel to ripen in 2011, and as such, the team felt the stems were ripe enough to use a mostly whole clusters, 93% to be exact. (AG)" (07/2013)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Sea Smoke "Ten" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir (96WE, 92CG, 92ST, 92WS, 91RP). Wine Enthusiast: "Only a Burgundian ideologue would find anything not to like about this mouth-filling Pinot that captures the essence of Santa Rita Hills. It’s as voluptuous as any Pinot in California, offering waves of ripe, fleshy cherries, red currants, licorice and smoky vanilla that just don’t stop in palate appeal. For all that, the wine is elegant, silky and refined. Delicious now, although a little tannic, and will benefit from decanting and aging. Bring on the steak." (12/2008)
