2011 Hudelot Noellat Romanee St. Vivant Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Hudelot Noellat Romanee St. Vivant Grand Cru (92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Very ripe, slightly exotic aromas of raspberry, mocha and underbrush. Highly concentrated and deep; opulent and lightly saline but a bit sullen today. Most impressive right now on the very long, slowly mounting finish, which really camps out on the palate. Vinified with 20% whole clusters but I never would have guessed it from this sample. 92+ Points" (03/2014)

1989 Vega Sicilia "Unico" Ribera del Duero
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Vega Sicilia "Unico" Ribera del Duero (96RP, 95ST, 94W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Handford's 21st Anniversary tasting in Holland Park. It is quite a while since I tasted this...but what a fantastic wine. The nose is still tightly knit, attesting an Unico that will require 20-30 years in bottle to reach its plateau. Touches of star anis, peppermint, boysenberry and blackberry vie for attention and soar from the glass. The palate is very youthful and supple, incredible power but married to great finesse and poise with a floral, harmonious finish that caresses like a wanton woman (or man depending on your persuasion.) Superb. (NM)" (09/2011)

2014 Outpost "True Vineyard" Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Outpost "True Vineyard" Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The limited-production 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard (475 cases) is also 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in 90% new French oak. This is an amazing 2014 and one of the few perfect wines that I could find while tasting at the top addresses in Northern California. Blue/purple in color, with extraordinarily intense floral notes intermixed with blueberry, blackberry, crushed charcoal and camphor, the wine hits the palate with a spectacular display of glycerin, fruit, sweet tannin, adequate acidity, and wonderful equilibrium and purity. The finish was close to a minute. This wine is irresistible, although it is certainly capable of lasting three decades or more. Kudos to the Dotzlers and Thomas Rivers Brown for this magnificent achievement! (RP)" (10/2016)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Michel Bonnefond (Roumier) Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru (92BH, 92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red-ruby. Pungent red fruit aromas of cherry and raspberry, complicated by a note of coffee. Juicy and intensely flavored but tightly wrapped and much more closed than the Charmes. But this is more aromatic, denser and more impressively structured, with complicating notes of minerals and leather. Finishes with very firm tannins and terrific verve and style. (ST)" (03/2002)

Bid on this bottle of 2013 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100JS, 98VN, 97RP, 93WS). James Suckling: "Breathtaking aromas of blueberry, wet earth, black truffle, vine bark and lavender undertones. Full-bodied, yet tight and compressed with fabulous savory and dark fruit flavors. It lasts for minutes on the finish. The classicism in this wine is second to none. Incredible subtlety. Lovely austerity. Beauty in simplicity. Glorious to taste, yet a wine for decades ahead. 2003 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 97WE, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another wine I’ve had multiple times recently, the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot) is pure perfection in a glass and yields off-the-hook aromatics of cassis, black raspberries, tobacco leaf, pepper and licorice. Deep, layered and even elegant, with a seamless texture that conceals the sheer wealth of material present, it builds through the mid-palate, possesses huge amounts of extract and masses of polished tannin on the finish. Despite the overall size, it never loses its Cabernet Sauvignon soul and has an almost Bordeaux-like savoriness and tannic frame. Still young (yet gorgeous none the less), it can be enjoyed now or cellared for another 10-15+ years. Drink now-2028. (JD)" (06/2013)

2004 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes"
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes" (95ST, 93BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red. Ineffable aromas of raspberry, crushed stone and flowers. Like liquid silk on entry, then quite tightly wound in the middle, offering great purity and nerve but hiding more than it's showing in the way of flavor today. This has a nearly frightful intensity and superb stony persistence. Due to hail in late August, the yield here was just 20 hectoliters per hectare, compared to 25 in 2005, according to Millet. A highlight of the vintage. When I asked Millet to compare his 2004s to his 2001s, he told me that the acidity in the spine of the 2004s is barely tasteable, as the minerality of the wine dominates. 'In comparison, the 2001s are gaining in sensuality and elegance,' he said. 'But their fresh fruit flavors are still fighting their acidity.' 95+ Points" (04/2007)

2005 Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((93-95BH), (94-95RP), 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of bright red raspberry and red currant and herbal distillates inform the nose of the Potel 2005 Bonnes Mares. Remarkably smooth and polished on the palate, offering a scintillating display of smoked, peppered meats, tart berries, pungent tobacco and bitter-sweet licorice, this finishes with unusual elegance, refinement and buoyancy for a Bonnes Mares, not to mention for a wine of such sheer intensity. As with so many of the best of Potel’s 2005s, there are certainly ample tannins, but these are exceedingly refined and unobtrusive. I suspect that this is hiding significant incipient complexity and would plan on giving it a decade or more to evolve. (DS)" (06/2007)

2011 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (94VN, 94W&S, 93JS, 90ST). Wine & Spirits: "Christian Moueix and his team at Dominus have experience with rainy vintages in Bordeaux. They also farm a site that is particularly well adapted to draining excess water. So they produced a remarkable 2011, a late vintage challenged by rain close to harvest. It’s proof that a challenge met can create something sublime—like this floral, red-raspberry-scented vintage of Dominus. It’s a tense chord of flavor incorporating green herb, tobacco, cassis and raspberry in a lasting harmony. The sophisticated structure suggests it will age with grace, while the gentleness of that structure will make it accessible along the way. A great bottle for lamb. " (10/2014)

2005 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage Rouge
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage Rouge (99RP, 98WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lastly, from the very dome of the granite hill of Ermitage is the 2005 Ermitage l’Ermite. An extraordinarily powerful wine that probably needs 10-15 years in the bottle (last year I thought 20 was probably conservative), this is a 100-year wine and probably best appreciated by our descendants rather than anyone currently over the age of 30. Dense purple to the rim, with notes of crushed rock, charcoal, roasted meats, and enormous quantities of blue and black fruits, this wine is almost painfully rich and thick, with mouthsearing levels of tannin and zesty acidity. Monumental! (RP)" (02/2008)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The medium to dark ruby-colored 1997 Ruchottes-Chambertin reveals deeply spicy aromatics reminiscent of rose water, red berries, and perfume. It bursts on the palate with flavors of sweet cherries, smoke, black raspberries, and plum-like flavors. Its seductive, velvety texture, and medium to full-bodied personality lead to a somewhat firm, and structured, yet not tannic, finish. (PR)" (10/1999)

2012 Schrader "Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Schrader "Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard, from this famous vineyard in Rutherford, is made from Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 337, and 90% new Darnajou and 10% new Taransaud was used. One of the smaller cuveés, the wine has great intensity, with chocolaty cassis notes, fruitcake and forest floor along with licorice and spice. This is a big full-bodied, powerful, rich, yet accessible style of wine, as most 2012s tend to be. Drink it over the next 15-20 years. (RP)" (10/2014)

In the mouth, more white chocolate notes appear, along with meatiness and some silky tannins. 2007 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Red Blend

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Red Wine is composed of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, with the balance Cabernet Franc and Malbec. As always, it is a great value offering a fragrant, already complex nose of confiture of black fruits, incense, and Asian spices. On the palate it is savory and elegant with a plush texture. It is likely to evolve for several years but there is no compelling reason to defer gratification. Quilceda Creek remains Washington’s benchmark for world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. (JM)" (08/2010)

2009 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97WE, 93WS, 91CG). Wine Enthusiast: "So delicious now, you can hardly keep your hands off it. Blackberry tart, ripe blueberry, cassis, milk chocolate, licorice and sweet, smoky cedar flavors flood the mouth, dramatically huge and memorable, and lasting long into the finish. The tannins are obvious, but sweetly ripe and soft. A brilliant evocation of Napa Cabernet, despite a high production level of nearly 30,000 cases, which is about the same size as a Bordeaux first growth. Shows the class and potency this bottling has exhibited for many years, and believe it or not, the price is a is a relative bargain these days." (03/2012)

1995 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac

It is hard to choose a favorite, although the 1995 is a smoother, more immediately sexy and accessible wine. It is an exquisite example of Pichon-Lalande with the Merlot component giving the wine a coffee/chocolatey/cherry component to go along with the Cabernet Sauvignon's and Cabernet Franc's complex blackberry/cassis fruit. The wine possesses an opaque black/ruby/purple color, and sexy, flamboyant aromatics of pain grille, black fruits, and cedar. Exquisite on the palate, this full-bodied, layered, multidimensional wine should prove to be one of the vintage's most extraordinary success stories. (RP)" (02/1998)

2008 Littorai "Les Larmes" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Littorai "Les Larmes" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. Littorai derives their unique sustainable farming techniques from the fertile cross currents of permaculture, agro-ecology and the agricultural philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the father of Biodynamic farming. In addition to using only natural materials, they avoid all fertilizers. Estate-produced compost is their fertilizer of choice. For those sites which they do not farm themselves, they use by-the-acre contracts to ensure maximum quality and vineyard control, and they strongly encourage all of their farmer-partners to use only organic materials. They do not employ farm certification systems, as they believe that the true motivation for engaging in sustainable farming practices should not be for marketing purposes, but should be only for the good of the land, for the good of those who work it and for the future generations to whom it truly belongs.

Vinous: "A dark, brooding beauty, the 2006 Monte Bello is still very, very young. The aromatics alone are enticing, but the tannins still need time to soften. The 2006 is a masculine, vertical Monte Bello that demands cellaring. Even so, it is pretty impressive today. Scents of lavender, sage, mint and savory herbs add closing flourishes. The perfumed sweetness of the fruit - one of the hallmarks of the very late harvest - remains one of the signatures of the 2006. The 2006 can be enjoyed today or cellared for another 25+ years. The 2010 boasts tons of depth and sheer richness, not to mention the muscle to age well in bottle for a number of years. I especially like the balance, inner perfume and texture on the finish. 2002 Nicolas Potel Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Nicolas Potel Clos Vougeot Grand Cru ((91-93BH), 92WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A curious nose because it was at once explosive yet austere with much more forward, round and supple flavors that are structured, complex and powerful, all underpinned by dusty finishing tannins. This leans in the direction of old style Clos de Vougeot though it's a touch more forward. A great effort with plenty of character." (01/2004)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Jean Raphet is known in France as being one of the very best sources of Chambertin Clos de Beze. Made from 80 year old vines, and aged in 75% new oak, this is an absolutely stunning wine! Masculine, slightly austere but beautifully aromatic on the nose, with touches of roses, spices and violets, this well-endowed, full-bodied, spectacularly balanced gem is packed with red and black berries and Asian spices. Sweet and lush on the palate, with a dense, chewy texture and bright flavors of kirsch, licorice and espresso. Extremely rich and concentrated on the building, expanding finish. 2009 Domaine les Pallières "Les Terraces de Diable" Gigondas
Bid on this 9-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine les Pallières "Les Terraces de Diable" Gigondas (92VN). Vinous: "(85% grenache, 10% mourvedre and 5% clairette): Bright ruby. Vibrant, high-pitched aromas of cherry, redcurrant, minerals, garrigue and black olive. Fresh and bright in the mouth, with a sappy sweetness to its red fruit and floral pastille flavors. Brisk acidity and a firm mineral underpinning give this wine very good clarity and finishing lift. This wine seems to have actually become racier since I saw it last year. Incidentally, the 2008 version is open for business, showing suave floral and spice character and very good energy. (JR)" (01/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Lucien Boillot Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Pruliers" ((92-94RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Eighty-year-old vines inform the 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Pruliers which, like Boillot’s Cherbaudes, expresses simultaneously fresh and liqueur-like expressions of black fruits, accented by mint, vanilla, pungent florality, tart fruit skin and bitter fruit pit notes. A rich mouthful of forward, sweet ripe fruit is underlain by refined tannins and this finishes long and polished, with an alliance of formidable intensity with elegance and no superfluous weight. Vinous: "(80% grenache, 15% syrah and cinsault, and 5% clairette, from vines that were reportedly planted in the late 1940s): Deep ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, cassis and musky herbs. Ripe and smooth in texture but surprisingly lively, offering juicy dark fruit flavors and notes of spicecake and anise. Shows no rough edges on the sappy, spicy, very long finish. I also had the chance to retaste the 2008 Les Racines in December and it has fleshed out and gained sweetness over the past 12 months while retaining its nervy and precise character. It will age nicely over at least the mid-term on its balance; I note that I underestimated it last year. (JR)" (01/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Domaine Meo-Camuzet Corton Grand Cru "Clos Rognet" (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "While it's not quite as ripe, the expressive nose reminds more than a little of the brilliant '99 with its smoke, underbrush and still notably primary fruit that slides gracefully into concentrated yet precise and very powerful mouth coating flavors that also brim with ample amounts of dry extract, all underpinned by firm but integrated tannins on the gorgeously long finish. This is a first rate '98 that doesn't quite have the sheer depth of its '99 counterpart but I would be more than happy to drink this anytime and in concert with the '99, this too is very much still on the way up." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dark ruby, almost black-colored 1997 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Hauts Pruliers Reserve reveals powerful aromas of black chocolate-covered blueberries and cassis. This is an immensely ripe, massive wine, with a fabulous, silky texture, medium to full body, and a gorgeous flavor profile composed of blackberries, dark cherries, and licorice. While it is supple and sensual, it also possesses an outstanding structure, and should be capable of mid-term aging. (PR)" (10/1999)

1996 Domaine Maume Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1996 Domaine Maume Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru. Bernard Maume's Charmes-Chambertin plot is 0.2 hectares in Mazoyères. His son Bertrand has since taken over the winemaking. A big focus for this tiny domaine is maintaining a diverse collection of old Pinot Noir clones. All of the Maume wines are bottled from barrel without fining or filtration. Neal Martin writes of Domaine Maume: "I have a strong affection for Domaine Maume, whose unapologetically traditional, often herbaceous wines had a propensity to evolve into quite compelling expression of Pinot Noir that you either love or hate. Certainly, when I conducted a vertical of their Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru back to the mid-1980s several years ago, I was not alone in appreciating their freshness and terroir expression. They ticked enough boxes for me."
