Bid on this bottle of 1997 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 97WS, 95WE, 94ST, 93W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An inky/plum/purple color is accompanied by a stunning bouquet of violets, charcoal, creme de cassis and a hint of toast. Prodigious when it hits the palate with a full-bodied expansiveness, there is not a hard edge to be found in the 1997, only velvety tannins, compelling depth and fruit intensity, and stunning purity. It is a perfect expression of Napa viticulture and wine that should continue to age effortlessly for two decades or more. (RP)" (11/2013)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Rhys "Home Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir (94VN, 93RP, 93ST, 92BH). Vinous: "Orange rind, graphite, pine, mint and crushed rocks jump from the glass in the 2012 Pinot Noir Home Vineyard. One of the more vibrant, chiseled wines in the range, the Home will benefit from further time in bottle. The translucent, crystalline finish is a thing of beauty. In this vintage, the Home was done with 100% whole clusters. Quite remarkably, the Home Vineyard lies just 400 yards away from Family Farm, separated by the San Andreas Fault, yet the wines from these two sites are completely different. (AG)" (07/2014)

They declassified 45% of wine made and sold it in bulk so the best wines went into this. Better in 2015." (05/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I am old enough to remember Chuck Wagner and his father, who I first met at Caymus in the late seventies. This is clearly one of Napa Valley’s iconic wineries, as well as one that, amazingly, never went through a bad patch. Obviously, no matter which generation is in the driver’s seat (or should I say tractor’s seat), Caymus Vineyard knows how to deliver flavor and deliciousness. (RP)" (10/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years. (RP)" (08/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvee Elizabeth is undeniably a grand cru effort. Black raspberry, spring flower (violets), and kirsch aromas soar from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged wine. Medium to full-bodied with zesty acidity, beautiful penetration, and a soaring mid-palate as well as length result in a prodigious example of Pinot Noir that should drink well for a decade or more. This wine, which shows notes of new saddle leather, Christmas fruitcake and spice, is broad and savory, with a classic full-bodied mouthfeel, stunning purity and sensational flavors of wild forest mixed with blackberry and cassis fruit. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Taillepieds" ((92-95BH), (93-94RP), 91ST, 91WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Don't miss! Outstanding* A strikingly pure nose of cassis, violets and blueberries gracefully gives way to rich, full, sweet and mineral-infused middle weight flavors that have cut-like-a-knife delineation as well as a very firm tannic spine that will also see this through well past its 25th birthday. While the Champans presently has a bit more flesh around the structure, this is a classic Taillepieds built on its minerality and is best cellared by those blessed with ample patience as this is the most backward wine in the range today." 2014 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2014 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) ((97-99RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Leading off the wines from barrel, the 2014 Booker Vineyard is inky colored and downright unctuous, with tons of fruit, chalky minerality, full-bodied richness and no shortage of structure. One of the superstars in California is undoubtedly the humble, soft spoken, yet incredibly talented Justin Smith, who has had the reins at Saxum since 2000. And while a lot of winemakers would have been content to stick with the tried and true at this point, Smith continues to question, experiment and fine tune everything he does. Today, his wines are much more finesse oriented, pure and graceful than in the past, without sacrificing texture, concentration or richness. In short, these wines kick ass and shouldn't be missed by any serious wine lover out there! (JD)" (08/2016)

Of the 2005 Jacques Prieur Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Santenots",Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "From yet another Prieur monopole, the 2005 Volnay Clos des Santenots displays ravishingly intense aromas and flavors of black raspberry and cassis, with dark chocolate, wet stone, graphite, chalk, and salts lending layers of complexity. A bit tannic and marked by toasty barrels in the finish, this might turn out to taste overdone in its sweetness for some tastes, but certainly there is ample mineral complexity. (DS)" (06/2007)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A 2005 Volnay Santenots Vieilles Vignes offers high-toned aromas of cherry distillate and cherry pits, marrowy meatiness and imposing breadth on the palate, and a beautiful penetration of dark fruits, savory meatiness, and chalky, stony minerality in the finish. This displays considerable subtlety of flavor and a refined density of tannins that doesn’t weigh it down but suggests the right structure is present for at least twelve or fifteen years of fascinating development. 2014 Rivers-Marie "Panek Vineyard" St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2014 Rivers-Marie "Panek Vineyard" St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Thomas Rivers Brown does a fabulous job with the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Panek Vineyard, which is not that far from Vineyard 29's Aida on the valley floor just to the south of Larkmeade, north of St. Helena and the Culinary Institute of America. This is another sensational effort that flirts with perfection. Seventy-five percent new French oak was utilized for 20 months of aging, before the wine was bottle unfined and unfiltered. Opaque purple with notes of blueberry, black raspberry, incense, camphor and forest floor, the wine has an fabulous richness on the palate, a front-end-loaded appeal, but then carries through in the midpalate and finish with light tannin and good acidity. This is a sensational, sexy, up-front Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 20 years while waiting for the 2013 to hit its peak. (RP)" (10/2016)

There is more muscle and punch here and this is very Gevrey in character and style. Very solid quality and also recommended." (01/2007)

Floral, cedary aromas of crystallized berries (raspberry, cassis, mulberry) and graphite; extremely youthful. Thick, large-scaled and very strong in extract; layered and deep. Strong but harmonious acidity gives the wine a vibrant character. Conveys a sense of totally expressed soil. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins and superb sweetness. 1970 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1970 Latour, Pauillac (96RP, 94JS, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at dinner at Domaine de Chevalier. The Latour ’70 can be such a variable beast. This is certainly one of the better, more representative bottles. Deep garnet in colour, nice limpidity in the glass. It has a beautiful nose that to be honest, sweeps aside the respectable Domaine de Chevalier ’70 poured alongside, like a lord dismissing his servant with a swish of his hand. Graphite, wild black fruit, freshly rolled tobacco and a faint hint of truffle. The palate is medium-bodied and after forty years, still quite austere but the balance is nailed. Masculine and foursquare, a Latour with a lot of horsepower…but not necessarily revving in top gear…at least not after four decades. Lovely cedar and mint on the long, long finish. Wonderful. I do not thing this wine will get any better, but a divine vinous experience now. Drink now. Tasted April 2010. (NM)" (11/2010)

2003 Gérard Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Gérard Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (96RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fashioned from a parcel located in the heart of its grand cru (mostly from 25-year old vines though Raphet asserts that 'there are still some very old ones'), the 2003 Charmes-Chambertin Cuvee Unique explodes with red fruit aromas. Sappy, bursting with red cherries, this is a sensual wine made for hedonists. Medium to full-bodied, deep, and concentrated, it has serious depth of fruit, loads of smile-inducing spices and an exceptionally long, supple finish filled with superbly ripened tannin. Drink it over the next 11-14 years (incidentally, I served the 1996 at this year’s International Pinot Noir Celebration’s salmon bake in Oregon and it was terrific, wowing all who drank it.) The 1999s which were given fabulous ratings from barrel, were not tasted from bottle. However, given part experience with bottled Tardieu-Laurent wines, they are undoutedly as good as I predicted from cask. It still has a limited supply of its 1971 Petite Sirah (hailed as one of the finest ever made by Connoisseur’s Guide to California Wine), as well as its 1976 and 1977 offerings, also from York Creek... Some 40 years later, though, Petite Sirah has evolved. Vibrant, dark and deep purple in color, the wines are full of fruit, structure and acidity, and are very much alive. 'These wines are still opening,' says Barry Dodds, estate manager at Freemark. 'That’s their magic.'" (VB, 02/2013)

1976 Louis Martini "Special Selection" California Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1976 Louis Martini "Special Selection" California Cabernet Sauvignon. The story of Louis Martini is a key chapter in Napa's winemaking history. Genovese immigrant Louis Martini established his first business in 1922, smack in the middle of Prohibition (in force in the U.S. from 1919 until 1933). He was therefore limited to making "sacramental and medicinal" wines at first. With the end of Prohibition, Martini became one the first winemakers in California to produce vintage-dated varietal table wines in quantity, and at reasonable prices. Sourced from prime vineyards in Napa and Sonoma, including Monte Rosso in the mountains above Sonoma Valley and La Loma in the cool Carneros district south of Napa, and made with care and expertise, Louis Martini wines very commonly age exceptionally well.

1966 Beychevelle, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1966 Beychevelle, St-Julien (93JG). John Gilman: "Beychevelle in this era has to be one of the great unsung stars of the Médoc, and the 1966 is certainly one of the prettiest and most stunning bottles that I have tasted from this lovely château. The nose on the ’66 Beychevelle absolutely soars from the glass in a brilliant mélange of black berries, raspberries, a classic touch of Beychevelle meatiness, anise, black truffles, a whiff of mint leaf, a lovely base of earth and a pungent topnote of violet. On the palate the wine is medium-full, elegant and refined, with lovely intensity of flavor, flawless balance, and a very long, meltingly tannic, utterly refined and bouncy finish. This is one of the great sleepers still to be found in the mature claret market. A hauntingly beautiful bottle of wine cut in the Palmer mold, or more correctly, a classic Beychevelle. (Drink between 2006-2026) " (05/2011)

Of the 2005 Bodegas Alejandro Fernandez "Pesquera" Crianza Tinto Ribera del Duero,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2005 Tinto Pesquera Crianza is purple in color with an excellent bouquet of cedar, tobacco, spice box, and blackberry. On the palate it offers layers of ripe black fruits, mineral notes, outstanding depth, and a lengthy finish. It will evolve for several years and be at its best from 2012 to 2025. (JSM)" (04/2008)

The long, invigorating finish is supported by riveting acidity and well-embedded grip. When power and finesse work together, it's a beautiful thing. (JM)" (09/2009)

Of the 2009 Williams Selyem "Westside Road Neighbors" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir,Connoisseurs Guide writes: "The release of this wine along with Williams Selyem's appellation bottlings might suggest that the winery sees it as one of its early maturing wines, but if that be the case, then we must respectfully disagree. This wine is slow to unfold in the glass, and despite the sweet, ripe character that emerges, it is also a wine that falls in distinct sections at this point. Its pulpy fruit reminiscent of dried cherries and raspberry preserves leads to an initially mouthfilling, viscous impression but also to flavors that are more than a little on the tig

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Sine Qua Non "B 20" California Syrah (95RP, 94JS, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Syrah B-20 is a cool, inward wine graced with layers of beautifully delineated, chiseled fruit. This is a distinctly mineral, precise style relative to the more outgoing 2009, but both are striking. Floral notes add lift as the finish turns explosive with a burst of dark fruit, tar, licorice and crushed rocks. This is one of the more understated wines readers are likely to come across from Sine Qua Non. It is gorgeous when given the time to open up. The B-20 is predominantly Syrah, with 6% Grenache and 2% Viognier. About half of the Grenache was fermented with whole clusters and the wine was aged in French oak (60% new) for 26 months. 2013 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2013 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (98VN, 97RP). Vinous: "The 2013 Monte Bello is utterly spellbinding in its beauty. Finely sculpted and chiseled, with super-expressive aromatics and searing tannins, the 2013 is shaping up to be a modern-day classic. The 2013 is remarkably pure and vibrant for such a big wine. It will be years before the 2013 is close to being ready to drink. Even so, it is magnificent today. Where will the 2013 end up? The future seems limitless for now. Quite simply, the 2013 is a must-have wine. In 2013, Monte Bello is very heavy in Cabernet Sauvignon, partly because Merlot suffered in the drought-like conditions. The 2013 has already begun to shut down in bottle. Readers need to be in for the long haul. 98+ points. (AG)" (07/2016)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Cherbaudes" Vieille Vigne ((91-93BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Outstanding* This is ripe yet quite cool and airy with its ultra-pure blend of red currant, plum and violet aromas. There is plenty of pungent Gevrey style earth on the seductive and strikingly refined medium-bodied flavors that are also supported by impressive mature tannins that are pushed to the background by the copious amount of dry extract. I very much like the delivery as the tannins are quite finely grained though dense and the overall sense of harmony is entirely beguiling. Drink: 2022+" (01/2012)

Of the 1998 Roger Sabon "Le Secret de Sabon" Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Shockingly good, the 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape le Secret du Sabon tastes like a hypothetical blend of the 2007 and the 2001. Powerful, massive, concentrated and beautifully ripe, it offers notions of kirsch, currants, peppered meats, Asian spice and licorice in its seamless, yet voluptuous and hedonistic personality. It's a crazy good bottle of wine that could be considered over-the-top by some, but who cares when it's this good? Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Margaux, Margaux (98RP, 97JS, 96ST, 96WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This was the finest performance by this wine that I have seen since it was released. I did not expect the 2003 Chateau Margaux to show this well in a vintage where the southern part of the Medoc was clearly less impressive than the north. However, it is a beautiful, dark plum/purple-tinged effort with sensational aromatics, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and a youthfulness, precision and freshness that belie what one generally associates with this vintage. It can be drunk now and over the next 15-20 years. Kudos to Chateau Margaux. (RP)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Sine Qua Non "Dark Blossom" California Syrah (99RP, 96VN, (94-95ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Syrah Dark Blossom showed even better from bottle than barrel. A blend of 84% Syrah, 8% Grenache, 4% Petite Sirah and the rest Roussanne and Petite Manseng, this beauty was fermented with 17% whole clusters and aged in equal parts new and used French oak. One of the shining successes in the vintage, it’s a full-bodied, concentrated and layered Syrah that has awesome aromatics of blackcurrants, Peking duck, pepper, licorice and charcuterie in its seamless, thrillingly pure profile. As with Manfred’s other 2011s, the tannins are certainly present, yet they’re sweet, polished and have no hard edges. Give this beauty 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy bottles through 2031. 2005 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 97VN, 96JS, 95WE, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Its bigger brother, or sister, depending on the point of view, is the extremely young, fresh, vigorous, yet still exuberant and promising 2005 Harlan Estate. Normally, the blends on these wines tend to be 85%-90% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest tiny proportions of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and possibly some Petit Verdot, although I don’t recall that being a very important part of the estate vineyard. The 2005 is incredibly youthful at age ten, although certainly drinkable. And who wouldn’t consume it if they had the opportunity? It will benefit from another 5-10 years of cellaring and certainly has 30 or more years left in its evolutionary curve. Gorgeous, and tasting akin to a hypothetical Pauillac blended with a great Pessac-Léognan from Bordeaux comes to mind because of the smoky, subtle barbecue notes, fruitcake, forest floor, graphite and minerality.
