Of the 2013 Kosta Browne "Kanzler Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Connoisseurs Guide writes: "Picking favorites from the long and lengthening lists of single-site bottlings that so many top-tier Pinot producers now offer is never an easy task, especially when faced with the embarrassment of riches that is the 2013 Kosta Browne lot. That said, this stunning effort from the Kanzler Vineyard certainly vies for top honors by dint of its fruity depth, its lovely balance and its uncommon marriage of richness and grace. And, please do not think that its

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of Williams Selyem "Westside Road Neighbors" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Vertical, including one bottle of the 2008 and 2-bottles of the 2009. Of the 2009 Williams Selyem "Westside Road Neighbors" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir,Connoisseurs Guide writes: "The release of this wine along with Williams Selyem's appellation bottlings might suggest that the winery sees it as one of its early maturing wines, but if that be the case, then we must respectfully disagree. This wine is slow to unfold in the glass, and despite the sweet, ripe character that emerges, it is also a wine that falls in distinct sections at this point. Its pulpy fruit reminiscent of dried cherries and raspberry preserves leads to an initially mouthfilling, viscous impression but also to flavors that are more than a little on the tight side and demand time in the cellar. Be patient; the wait will be rewarded." (06/2011)

2008 Quilceda Creek "Palengat Vineyard" Horse Heaven Hills Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Quilceda Creek "Palengat Vineyard" Horse Heaven Hills Bordeaux Blend (97RP, 94ST, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Palengat Proprietary Red Wine is made up of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, with the balance Merlot and Petit Verdot. The fruit was sourced entirely from the Palengat Vineyard. Pain grille, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, violets, dried herbs, black currant, and blackberry aromas compose the bouquet of this impeccably balanced offering. It opens in the glass to reveal plush, succulent flavors, superb concentration, plenty of ripe tannin, and at least 4-5 years of aging potential. It will deliver optimum drinking from 2015 to 2028. 2000 Ridge "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Ridge "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (95AG, 92ST, 90RP). Antonio Galloni: "Do you want the good news or the bad news? Well, Ridge's 2000 Monte Bello is still not ready to drink. Huge, rich and voluptuous, but backed up be serious structure, the 2000 is still a very, very young wine. Readers who own the 2000 should be thrilled. With time in the glass, the 2000 starts to open up a little bit aromatically, but the tannins remain imposing. Hints of tobacco, iron, smoke, savory herbs, leather and licorice all add nuance on the close. This dramatic, brooding Monte Bello will likely drink well for another three decades. In 2000, Montebello is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. " (07/2013)

2013 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah ((97-99RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I think the best of the Syrahs is the 2013 Syrah Bionic Frog, and while I've liked other single vineyards more than this cuvee in the past, it seems a solid step up in both 2012 and 2013. The 2013 offers incredible notes of roasted herbs, beef blood, mushrooms, scorched earth and sweet black fruits in a full-bodied, gorgeously concentrated, structured, serious style. Short-term cellaring should be the name of the game here, and while it should offer plenty of pleasure around age 5-6, I'd put money on it still singing at age 20. (JD)" (06/2015)

There is an exquisite minerality to the energetic and tautly muscular flavors that are shaped by relatively sophisticated tannins before terminating in a long but overtly austere finish. It, too, reveals the noble sweetness of tannin, the extraordinary rich, intense mouthfeel, and sumptuous aromas of flowers, burning embers, blackberries, blueberries, spice box, and cedar. With extraordinary intensity, beautiful purity, a texture and flavors that build incrementally on the palate, and a significantly long finish, this is a perfect wine. (RP)" (12/2008)

Bid on this bottle of 1996 Domaine Joseph (Veronique) Drouhin Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Petits Monts" (92BH, (88-91RP)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A wonderfully stylish and elegant nose of spicy, pure and still quite fresh black and red fruits that display only traces of secondary development slide seamlessly into mineral-driven middle weight flavors that are somewhat nervous and quite fine while being underpinned by racy acidity and while this is mildly drying on the backend, it is by no means hard or astringent. The finish is focused, precise and nicely long. In sum, this is beautiful juice that is much more about refinement and elegance than power. Note that while this could easily be approached now, I would be inclined to give it a few more years in the cellar for my personal taste. Tasted twice this year with consistent notes." Subtly complex, ineffable perfume offers raspberry, heady blood orange, white and black pepper and piquant minerality. The palate offers an uncanny combination of silky texture and outstanding precision and cut, with great lift and inner-mouth aromatic character to the flavors of sappy fresh raspberry and pungent crushed stone. It was too easy to deliver the ultimate three-digit score. A sensational nose of pen ink, graphite, forest floor, crème de cassis, a hint of white chocolate, and cedar wood are all present in this majestic, multi-layered wine built like a skyscraper. The freshness is still a component part of this full-bodied, stunningly concentrated wine that is pure Napa purity, power and compelling intensity. Of the 2008 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir,Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "*Outstanding* An exceptionally densely fruited nose that is intensely floral and nuanced with stone, spice and soft earth hints complements to perfection the impressively concentrated medium weight plus flavors that brim with dry extract such that the very firm tannins are rendered almost invisible at present though I suspect that they will become more visible as the baby fat recedes. 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. Full-bodied and powerful, it will undoubtedly close down over the next several years, not to re-emerge for 7-8 years. 2005 Chateau de la Tour Clos-Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Chateau de la Tour Clos-Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (97BH, 95ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Out of all of the less than 20 year old wines in the tasting, the 2005 possesses the most aromatic complexity with simply knockout scents of still relatively primary red and dark berry fruit, spice, floral, humus, game and smoked tea. There is strikingly good concentration yet absolutely no sense of heaviness to the seductively textured and velvety broad-shouldered flavors that coat the mouth with abundant reserves of dry extract that also buffer the still very firm tannic spine. In addition to the obvious assets of complexity and concentration, what really impresses me about this exceptionally powerful wine is the impeccable balance and harmony as nary a hair is out of place. Note however that this is going to be one very, very long-lived effort and I wouldn't touch a bottle for at least another 10 to 12 years. In a word, stunning." (01/2014)

2006 Mommessin Clos de Tart Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Mommessin Clos de Tart Grand Cru (93BH, 93RP, 93ST). 93 Points Allen Meadows: "A moderate dollop of new wood frames very ripe yet airy and elegant black raspberry and cherry aromas that are exceptionally fresh and dissolve into rich, suave and very pure full-bodied flavors that are wonderfully seductive as they just ooze dry extract that renders the otherwise very firm tannins almost invisible on the mouth coating, concentrated and strikingly long finish. While this is certainly a big wine, it is actually quite refined and elegant, indeed very much in the style of the '01 as Pitiot suggests. It doesn't quite have the sheer depth and incredible delineation of the '01 but this is high class juice all the same that is built to age." (01/08) 93 Points Parke's Wine Advocate: "... Bid on this bottle of 2005 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa Counties Claret (98RP, 95CG, 93WE, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This winery, sitting high atop Spring Mountain traversing both the Napa and Sonoma counties, has offered their two top cuvées in 2005 for this retrospective. The 2005 Proprietary Red Reserve Claret, sourced from both Napa and Sonoma, is a blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon. It offers a moonless, black-of-night color and notes of black truffle and burning embers, whiffs of charcoal, blackberry and cassis, and touches of chocolate and coffee. This stunningly complex, opulent, full-bodied wine seems to have approached its peak of maturity, where it should easily rest for another decade or more. With perfect concentration and a skyscraper-like palate feel with no heaviness, this wine (14.8% natural alcohol) is simply compelling in all senses. Bid on this bottle of 2004 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (100WE, 99RP, 96WS, 95VN, 95W&S, 93CG). Wine Enthusiast: "A perfect score has to be considered in the context of its region. Shafer’s 2004 Hillside Select is tremendous as a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that competes with its peers at the highest levels. It’s always a fabulous wine, but in warm 2004, Shafer’s amphitheater vineyard sheltered the grapes, ripening them to perfection yet protecting the “iron fist in a velvet glove” structure that André Tchelistcheff defined as Stags Leap. This 100% Cabernet is tremendous in cassis, black currant and mocha flavors, and the 100% new French oak provides perfect additions of smoke and caramel. Deep purple-colored, the wine presents aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, scorched earth, black currant, plum, and blackberry liqueur. The wine makes a powerful entry onto the palate with great concentration, serious depth, and opulence. The flavors reveal spicy, savory black fruits with a note of chocolate in the background. 1959 Federico Paternina Gran Reserva, Rioja
Bid on this bottle of 1959 Federico Paternina Gran Reserva, Rioja. What does a 48-year-old wine taste like? Not too many of us will ever be in a position to answer that question, 1) because wines from the 1960s and earlier are incredibly rare to find in the marketplace, and 2) they tend to cost a small fortune, even if they hail from an uneven vintage and a mediocre estate. Well, this old Gran Reserva from a historically great producer in Spain comes from a very good year for winemaking. In short, it bucks the trend in old and rare wine buying, and it would make the ideal gift for a very special birthday boy or girl.

1963 Inglenook "Cask F-19" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1963 Inglenook "Cask F-19" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. "The property once known as Inglenook isn't simply important in Napa Valley history—it's as close as Napa gets to hallowed ground, a spot that encompasses nearly the valley's entire wine history," wrote Jon Bonné in the San Francisco Chronicle in January 2013. This Cab is from that most legendary of estates, and it offers a rare opportunity to drink California winemaking history. Proprietor John Daniels selected the best casks from each vintage and released them as special bottlings. This is truly collectible.

1963 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1963 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac. Famed critic Robert Parker says of Lafite: "Bordeaux's most famous property and wine, with its elegant, undersized, and understated label, had become a name synonymous with wealth, prestige, history, respect, and wines of remarkable longevity." Pauillac, a village located between Saint-Estephe and Saint-Julien on Bordeaux's Medoc peninsula, is home to some of the world's most famous and expensive wines (most obviously those of the first growths Chateaux Latour, Lafite Rothschild and Mouton Rothschild). The village has its own appellation specifically for red wines made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon – a variety well suited to the free-draining gravel soils found all around Pauillac.

1960 Louis Martini Private Reserve Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1960 Louis Martini Private Reserve Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. The story of Louis Martini is a key chapter in Napa's winemaking history. Genovese immigrant Louis Martini established his first business in 1922, smack in the middle of Prohibition (in force in the US from 1919 until 1933). He was therefore limited to making "sacramental and medicinal" wines at first. With the end of prohibition, Martini became one the first winemakers in California to produce vintage varietal table wines in quantity, and at reasonable prices. Sourced from prime vineyards in Napa and Sonoma, including Monte Rosso in the mountains above Sonoma Valley and La Loma in the cool Carneros district south of Napa, and made with care and expertise, Louis Martini wines have aged exceptionally well. With their hallmark of impeccable balance, older Louis Martini Cabs are known to age extremely well.

Dense and opulent, with superb concentration, full body, high glycerin, decent acidity, and ripe tannin, this a superb mouthful of wine that can be approached now or cellared for 12-15 years. 2010 Alpha Omega "Era" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Alpha Omega "Era" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95CG, 93ST, 93WE, 92WS). Connoisseurs Guide: "**Three Stars** "Era" is intended to be an expression of the very best that Alpha Omega has to offer, and this bottling shows reason enough to agree. It is wonderfully concentrated and extraordinarily deep in incisive blackcurrant fruit with a myriad of carefully fit pieces, and, while very much built along the sturdily tannic, eminently age-worthy lines so favored by Alpha Omega, it shows slightly more polish to its structured style even at this age. It is sure to reward those willing to patiently wait for a decade with a wine of genuine and stunning brilliance." (04/2013)

1969 J. Pedroncelli "Private Stock" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1969 J. Pedroncelli "Private Stock" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon. Where other California wineries perished during Prohibition, J. Pedroncelli, which was founded in 1927 by John Pedroncelli, Sr., managed to keep their vineyards going during that dark time by selling grapes to home winemakers as well as to a small base of businesses through the 1930s and 1940s. John Sr.'s sons, John and Jim, joined the winery in 1948 and 1955, respectively. In 1963 the brothers brought the winery from their dad, growing the vineyards and adding to their range through the 1960s. This 1969 bottling represents the winery's shift to modern winemaking. They began focusing on varietal wines in 1968, the same year they introduced stainless tanks to their cellar and bought their first French oak barrels.
