2003 Krug Brut Champagne
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Krug Brut Champagne (95JS, 95ST, 94VN, 94WS, 93BH, 92W&S). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Light yellow. Powerful, complex bouquet evokes fresh peach, pear, floral honey, green almond and smoky minerals. Deep, palate-staining citrus and orchard fruit flavors show outstanding vivacity for a hot vintage, picking up ginger and talc notes with air. The strikingly long, sappy finish features zesty orange pith, smoky minerals and an echo of honeysuckle. I'd be in no rush to drink this one. Speaking of waiting, I had the chance to revisit the 2000 Vintage Krug and it has begun to pick up the smoky, weighty and nutty character that long-time fans of this producer crave. It's still plenty young but already unmistakably Krug, with a chewy texture and a sexy floral nuance dominating right now. (JR)" (12/2014)

2003 Ridge Vineyards "Essence" Paso Robles Zinfandel (375ml)
Bid on this 5-half-bottle lot of 2003 Ridge Vineyards "Essence" Paso Robles Zinfandel (375ml). According to the winery: "After a late start in spring, intense heat in early September ripened these grapes far beyond the norm. We first picked on September 20. Then—realizing we had a dessert wine on our hands—delayed the rest of the harvest for four days to gain even greater concentration. At these high sugars, the wine took four more days to show signs of natural-yeast fermentation. We pumped over daily for color and tannin extraction; by the eighth day, despite the remaining sugar, fermentation had come to a halt. We pressed, and just before racking to barrel, included the still-richer press wine. Ten months in air-dried American oak added spice to the intense black fruit ... (EB/PD, 11/2004)

2003 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 97WE, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another wine I’ve had multiple times recently, the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot) is pure perfection in a glass and yields off-the-hook aromatics of cassis, black raspberries, tobacco leaf, pepper and licorice. Deep, layered and even elegant, with a seamless texture that conceals the sheer wealth of material present, it builds through the mid-palate, possesses huge amounts of extract and masses of polished tannin on the finish. Despite the overall size, it never loses its Cabernet Sauvignon soul and has an almost Bordeaux-like savoriness and tannic frame. Still young (yet gorgeous none the less), it can be enjoyed now or cellared for another 10-15+ years. Drink now through 2028. (JD)" (06/2013)

Roses and other flowers, such as lilacs. Full-bodied, with masses of tannins yet incredibly long and seductive. Best after 2012. *#3 on the Top 100 Wines of 2006* (JS)" (03/2006)

Wine Enthusiast: "Inky purple in color, this youngest Taylor vintage Port boasts a floral, wonderfully open and appealing bouquet, backed by layers of rich fruit. What makes this wine extra special is the seductive texture—somewhere between creamy and syrupy and ample length. Hold. (JC)" (02/2007)

2003 Merry Edwards "30th Anniversary Cuvée" Russian River Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Merry Edwards "30th Anniversary Cuvée" Russian River Pinot Noir. To celebrate 30 years in the biz, Merry Edwards made this cuvée from grapes grown on some of the Russian River Valley's oldest Pinot vines, from Windsor Gardens, Olivet Lane, and Quail Hill Ranch vineyards. Tasting notes from the winemaker: "Bold and dense, my 30 possesses a dramatic, complex cherry profile with a harmonizing accent of warm brown spice. A wine with tremendous potential to develop and age, this Pinot Noir epitomized my dedication to producing age-worthy, enduring wines. Note: A true collector’s wine, both Windsor Gardens and the old Quail Hill planting at Lynmar Winery no longer exist. As I update these notes in 2010, my 30 is aging beautifully, showing it has a long life ahead."

2003 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Montrose, St-Estèphe (98RP, 97JS, 96VN, 95WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Montrose was served blind in Bordeaux on two occasions. Picked between 11 to 26 September, it is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. It remains one of the outstanding wines of a very black and white vintage. Without knowledge of the vintage, I was hesitant to suggest 2003, because though there is clearly fruit intensity locked up inside this Saint Estèphe, it is counterbalanced by the estate's trademark masculinity and austerity. So both on the nose and the palate it reaches this happy medium: pure blackberry, graphite and roasted herbs on the nose, perhaps even more elegant than I have observed on previous bottles. The palate is medium-bodied rather than full bodied with sturdy tannins couched in layers of seamless blackberry and cassis fruit, offset by scents of tobacco and graphite. As usual it has immense length a

Wine Spectator: " Dark gold in color already, with intense aromas of dried apricots, citrus, honey and maple syrup with lots of spice. Full-bodied, with lovely sweetness and a long, creamy peach tart, tobacco, honey aftertaste. This is pure botrytis. Best ever from here. Has an incredible finish. *Highly Recommended* (JS)" (03/2006)

2003 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Margaux, Margaux (97JS, 97RP, 96ST, 96WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind as a vintage comparison at the Valandraud vertical, the 2003 Margaux is fully mature on the nose. There is ample fruit here, well defined for the vintage with blackberry and cedar, this bottle demonstrating a subtle fungal character that I have not discerned in previous bottles. There are faint scents of rust iron piping that develop with further aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannin, offering more fruit than the 2003 Valandraud it was paired with: feisty black pepper and allspice finish with a decent aftertaste. There might be better bottles than this, even so, there is probably not another Margaux that touches this First Growth. I see no harm in broaching bottles now and over the next ten years. Tasted December 2016. (NM)" (02/2017)

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2003 Delas "Les Bessards" Hermitage (97RP, 97WS, 95WE, 93W&S, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "Tremendous depth of fruit right from the start, with layers of freshly crushed blackberry, fig paste and currant confiture, all carried by seamless, fine-grained tannins while truffle and cocoa notes fill out the background. Enthralling finish is stretched out by underlying minerality and exotic spice notes, but still remains firmly planted in its terroir. Drink now through 2030. (JM)" (05/2006)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2003 M. Chapoutier "Les Varonniers" Crozes-Hermitage (1.5L) (94RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Looking first at his Crozes Hermitage, and a wine that will stand toe to toe with any number of Hermitages, the 2003 Crozes Hermitage Les Varonniers offers thrilling black fruits, saddle leather, spice and cured meat-like qualities to go with a sexy, full-bodied, and layered profile on the palate. It will continue to evolve gracefully, but there’s no reason to delay gratification and I’d enjoy this fabulous Syrah over the coming couple of years. (JD)" (04/2014)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Behrens & Hitchcock "The Heavyweight" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (93RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Speaking of a Heavyweight, the 2003 (50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% equal parts Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) is a sensational 375-case effort from the Thorevilos Vineyard owned by David Abreu and Ric Foreman. Its dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by an explosive bouquet of black and blue fruits, cedar, and high quality French oak. Boasting tremendous richness, fatness, opulence, and a viscous feel in the mouth, it is a big, in-your-face offering with low acidity, huge fruit, and a blockbuster finish. (RP)" (12/2005)

Of the 2004 Copain "Hein Family" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Good saturated ruby-red color. Aromas of almost liqueur-like black cherry and black raspberry. Fatter and more mouthfilling than the Cerise, with a more exotic aspect. Very ripe and nicely balanced, though. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and a peppery nuance. Larger-scaled than the Cerise but less subtle and complex. 2003 Blackjack Ranch "Harmonie"

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A step up over the 2005 and rivaling the 2010 (which I think will eclipse this wine at full maturity), the 2003 Harmonie Proprietary Red Wine is a sensational blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot that was raised all in new French oak. Still youthful and fresh, with an inky purple color and lots of cassis, plums, violets, wild herbs and leather, this full-bodied, voluptuously styled beauty has brilliant concentration, a supple, pure texture and a blockbuster finish. This intense, voluptuously textured, full-bodied St.-Julien possesses low acidity and ripe tannin. 2003 Domaine des Remizières "L'Essentiel" Hermitage
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Domaine des Remizières "L'Essentiel" Hermitage (98RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Only 3,000 bottles of the 2003 Hermitage l’Essentiel were produced from the most concentrated, port-like, atypical, but extraordinary barrels. A remarkable black/purple color to the rim is accompanied by a wine of tremendous unctuosity, surprising minerality and definition, prodigious concentration and glycerin, and high alcohol (15.6%) for Hermitage. Representing the essence of wine, it should drink well in 3-4 years, and last for three decades or more. Once all the baby fat falls away, it should be regarded as classic, although nothing like this has ever emerged from Hermitage in any vigneron’s lifetime. (RP)" (02/2006)

2003 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (95VN, 93ST). Vinous: "A heady, exotic wine, the 2003 Mouton Rothschild takes hold of all the senses. The ripeness and exuberance of the year comes through in spades as this dramatic, opulent wine shows off its radiant personality. The 2003 can be enjoyed now, but it could also use another few years for the tannins to soften. Still, the 2003 is pretty hard to resist today. This is an exceptional, deeply satisfying Mouton endowed with notable richness but also exceptional balance. Hints of toffee, torrefaction and dark spices are laced into the finish. In 2003 the blend is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, all brought in between a fairly narrow window of ten days between September 15 and 25. This sensational effort came in at 12.7% natural alcohol, it is made in the style of one of this estate’s great classics, the 1959. Composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color to the rim along with a luxurious bouquet of cedarwood, lead pencil shaving, white chocolate, cocoa and cassis. 2003 Blankiet "Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Merlot
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Blankiet "Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Merlot (97RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From their beautiful hillside vineyards situated behind the vast estate of Dominus, Blankiet has produced a 2003 Merlot Paradise Hills Estate (14.9% natural alcohol) offering a gorgeously complex bouquet of Chinese black tea, black currants, earth, chocolate and a touch of mocha. Frankly, I’m not sure a Napa Merlot can be any more complex than this. With a deep plum/purple color and round, juicy, full-bodied opulence, this 2003 could easily compete with the greatest Pomerols or St.-Emilions. Made from 100% Merlot, it was aged 18 months in 100% new Taransaud barrels, which provide the chocolaty, espresso notes. This sensational wine is showing even better than I remember. Impressive, rich and long, it is close to full maturity, but should easily last for another decade or more in a cold cellar. (RP)" (06/2013)
