2003 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2003 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru (99RP, 95BH, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 La Tache reveals aromas of milk chocolate, violets, roses, and dark cherries. Suave, displaying massive amplitude and a full-bodied, velvety-textured character, this behemoth’s flavor profile brings to mind chocolate-covered black cherries. Immensely powerful and noble, it offers an interminable finish that is packed with flawlessly ripe, sweet tannin. Projected maturity: 2013-2030. (PR)" (08/2005)

2003 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Margaux, Margaux (98RP, 97JS, 96ST, 96WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This was the finest performance by this wine that I have seen since it was released. I did not expect the 2003 Chateau Margaux to show this well in a vintage where the southern part of the Medoc was clearly less impressive than the north. However, it is a beautiful, dark plum/purple-tinged effort with sensational aromatics, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and a youthfulness, precision and freshness that belie what one generally associates with this vintage. It can be drunk now and over the next 15-20 years. Kudos to Chateau Margaux. (RP)" (08/2014)

2003 Copain "l'Esprit De James Atwood" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Copain "l'Esprit De James Atwood" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir (91ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Strawberry and raspberry aromas show a peppery lift and a suggestion of nutty oak. Juicy, spicy, firm and clean, with pungent red berry, herbal, spice and peppery notes. Finishes spicy and persistent. These vines, planted on soil low in vigor, possess minimal foliage, according to Guthrie, who vinified with about 50% whole clusters and aged the wine in all new barrels. He bottled it late, in early 2005. A very reasonable 13.4% alcohol with a pH of 3.45. " (05/2006)

2003 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 97WE, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another wine I’ve had multiple times recently, the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot) is pure perfection in a glass and yields off-the-hook aromatics of cassis, black raspberries, tobacco leaf, pepper and licorice. Deep, layered and even elegant, with a seamless texture that conceals the sheer wealth of material present, it builds through the mid-palate, possesses huge amounts of extract and masses of polished tannin on the finish. Despite the overall size, it never loses its Cabernet Sauvignon soul and has an almost Bordeaux-like savoriness and tannic frame. Still young (yet gorgeous none the less), it can be enjoyed now or cellared for another 10-15+ years. Drink now-2028. (JD)" (06/2013)

This intense, voluptuously textured, full-bodied St.-Julien possesses low acidity and ripe tannin. 2003 Gérard Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Gérard Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (96RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fashioned from a parcel located in the heart of its grand cru (mostly from 25-year old vines though Raphet asserts that 'there are still some very old ones'), the 2003 Charmes-Chambertin Cuvee Unique explodes with red fruit aromas. Sappy, bursting with red cherries, this is a sensual wine made for hedonists. Medium to full-bodied, deep, and concentrated, it has serious depth of fruit, loads of smile-inducing spices and an exceptionally long, supple finish filled with superbly ripened tannin. Drink it over the next 11-14 years (incidentally, I served the 1996 at this year’s International Pinot Noir Celebration’s salmon bake in Oregon and it was terrific, wowing all who drank it.) 2003 Hyde de Villaine "HdV" Napa Valley Red
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Hyde de Villaine "HdV" Napa Valley Red (94W&S). Wine & Spirits: "The cold, wet spring of 2003 generated a lighter than normal fruit set, and allowed most of the fruit for this wine to be farmed with no irrigation. The blend is predominantly merlot, grown on Hyde Vineyard's shallow loam over clay; ten percent is cabernet sauvignon. Oak enhances the lean texture of Carneros merlot, without obscuring the scents of red fruit and earth. The wine's high notes of cherry contrast an elegant, chanterelle-like savor, a compelling balance with cool, earthy tones that last. Its complexity will develop further in the years to come, the wine enjoyable anywhere along the way with a dry-aged steak." (02/2007)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 20003 was made by Martha McClellan and the viticulture looked over by David Abreu. The 2003 Sloan, if slightly less prodigious than the perfect 2002, remains a young wine. Notes of vanillin, espresso roast, blackberries, scorched earth, camphor and hints of charcoal and barbecue meat jump from the glass of this spicy, rich, provocative Cabernet Sauvignon. With a full-bodied mouthfeel, sweet tannin and adequate acidity, the blend includes 14% Cabernet Franc and 86% Cabernet Sauvignon from this extraordinary hillside vineyard above Auberge de Soleil in mid-Napa Valley. Connoisseurs Guide: " *Two Stars* This impressive, generously filled and very solid young wine is at once both powerful and remarkably well-balanced and delivers loads of optimally ripened, curranty fruit juxtaposed with just the right measure of complementary oak. It is quite full on the palate and comes complete with lots of Cabernet tannins, but even as astringency crowds in at the finish, its confident fruit refuses to quit. It is not, nor will ever be the picture of elegance, but its stunning depth and keen varietal precision raise great expectations for a most handsome maturity some eight to ten years hence." Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 97WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Starting with the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve, this wine showed spectacularly on release, closed down for a few years, and has now emerged, at close to full maturity, and is straight-up fabulous. Out of the entire tasting, it remained my favorite. Giving up gorgeous blackberry, currants, garrigue, pepper and beef blood, it hits the palate with a massive, full-bodied texture that carries layers of sweet fruit, awesome concentration and blockbuster length. Tasting like the essence of both this estate and the terroir, it’s an incredible wine that I’m happy to taste/drink anytime. Dense and opulent, with superb concentration, full body, high glycerin, decent acidity, and ripe tannin, this a superb mouthful of wine that can be approached now or cellared for 12-15 years. 2003 Signorello Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Signorello Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon (91CG). Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "14% Merlot; 11% Cabernet Franc. Slightly closed in but nicely concentrated and hinting at layering in its mildly woodsy, forest-floor and currant aromas and again in its extracted flavors, this fully ripened youngster is built for future enjoyment rather than near-term appeal. It is a gutsy, big-bodied wine with more than nominal tannins, but, at every step of its way, it offers up plenty of fruit and the taste of cassis powers its way past considerable closing astringency. A half-dozen years seems the minimal wait here, but it will not reach peak drinkability until another decade has passed." (04/2007)

Although I have never been able to award it a perfect score, it is as close to perfect as one will find. A terrific success in a vintage that rarely produced Pinot Noir of this quality except at selected micro-climates on the Sonoma coast. A majestic bouquet of black currants, smoky barbecue meat, blueberries and black raspberries soars from the glass of this dark plum/purple-colored wine. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the smallest crops to be included in the Ridge Monte Bello, only 32% of the production made it into the 2003, which is largely Cabernet Sauvignon (85%) and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot. Out of barrel as well as post-bottling I liked this wine a lot, and it has changed very little from when I last tasted it in February, 2010. It boasts an inky/blue/purple color along with sweet black currant, blueberry, graphite, licorice and toasty vanillin aromas.
