Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (97RP, 94WS, 93ST, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Even better, the 2011 Syrah Armada is probably my favorite of the 2011s. Deep, rich and layered, with phenomenal black plum, damp earth, pepper, mushroom, charcuterie and spice-driven aromas and flavors, this beauty tastes like the essence of this unique terroir. Full-bodied, rich and layered, it too should flesh out beautifully with short-term cellaring and have upwards of two decades of longevity. (JD)" (06/2014)

Ripe, silky tannins lend an element of total grace and exquisite overall harmony. In 2011 the Martinelli Road is impeccably polished. Of the 2012 Bedrock Wine Company "Weill Vineyard-Exposition Three" Sonoma Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The “2012 Proprietary Red Weill Vineyard Exposition Project Trio” is three incredible wines from Sonoma County. This is Twain-Peterson’s take on the three LaLa wines from the Guigal family in Côte-Rôtie. He is emphasizing distinct clonal terroir and exposition differences as well as vinifying the wines separately. All three of the following wines were aged 36 months in 100% new French oak. It too comes all from the estate's Eleven Confessions Vineyard and saw 39 months in 63% new French oak. 2012 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (96RP, 95WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another longer-term prospect is the 2012 Syrah Armada Vineyard. One of the more burly, structured releases from this estate, it's always poured after the Bionic Frog and is the last Syrah we taste in a vintage. The 2012 gives up lots of iodine, raw meats and floral notes that are balanced by a core of distinct black raspberry fruit, which in most vintages veers more toward the darker, more plummy side of the spectrum. Full-bodied, tight and yet nicely concentrated, with good tannin, it should be at its best from 2018-2028." (06/2015)

2011 Colgin "IX Estate" Napa Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2011 Colgin "IX Estate" Napa Valley Syrah (97VN, (91-93RP), 93ST). Vinous: "Colgin's 2011 Syrah IX Estate has always been magnificent from barrel and it is equally compelling now that it is in bottle. Inky, dark and explosive, the 2011 bursts from the glass with blue/purple/black fruit, menthol, cloves emerge from an intense, fruit-driven Syrah loaded with class and personality. There are no hard edges or angular contours in this drop-dead gorgeous wine. Savory notes are just beginning to develop, but ideally the 2011 needs a few more years in bottle to develop its bouquet. In 2011 Colgin was particularly severe with their selection, which resulted in the lowest production ever of Syrah at IX Estate. (AG)" (11/2013)

Of the 2013 Radio-Coteau "Dusty Lane" Sonoma Coast Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "I was blown away by the four Syrahs that Eric Sussman is producing. One of two prodigious Syrahs include the 2013 Syrah Dusty Lane. This comes from John Alban’s clonal selections, probably accessed from Chave or Chapoutier Hermitage vineyards in France. Utilizing 38% whole-clusters, bottled unfined and unfiltered, this is a killer Syrah. Opaque purple in color, with notes of steak tartare, blackberry, cassis, camphor and melted asphalt, this wine is full-bodied, super-majestic, multidimensional, and just a fabulous, rich, savory offering with moderate tannin. It will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and drink well for 15-20 years. It’s a compelling Syr

Tasting more like Hermitage than Crozes-Hermitage, it boasts a black/purple color as well as a perfume of scorched earth, bacon fat, blackberry liqueur, licorice, and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless, I've liked past vintages slightly more, but this is still a pretty, elegant Syrah to drink over the coming 8-10 years. " (06/2015)

Showing classic Santa Barbara County Syrah notes of dark fruits, exotic pepper, smoked herbs and hints of leather, it flows onto the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant texture and fine tannin. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1997 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage ((93-96ST), 96WE, 93RP, 92JS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep, saturated ruby. But there also firm acidity and powerful underlying structure. Very fresh and unevolved for the vintage but harmonious from the start. Utterly seamless. Finishes with lush, melting tannins. Like all of these wines, it is a remarkable wine of extraordinary intensity, with a stunning nose of blueberries, bacon fat, camphor, and even darker blackberries, along with unreal minerality and definition for a wine of this size and power. It's still full-bodied and concentrated, however, and offers classic raspberry, big minerality, cracked pepper and some Cornas-like iron and bloody notes. 2012 Colgin "IX Estate" Napa Valley Syrah (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Colgin "IX Estate" Napa Valley Syrah (OWC - 98JS, 98RP, 97VN, 93WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The wine that probably gets ignored, but shouldn’t be, is their small production of 350-400 cases of Syrah from their estate vineyard. The 2012 IX Syrah Estate blew me away, and I’ve said many times that it always tastes as if it’s co-fermented with Viognier, but it is always 100% Syrah. It has a honeysuckle, flowery, almost white/peachy component in the blackberry and meaty aromatics that always throw me off. The wine is aged in small oak, but the oak is concealed by the lavish amount of fruit, glycerin and extract. This is a super-intense, massive, yet elegant and complex Syrah that should drink well for 10-15 years. " (10/2015)

Of the 2009 Sine Qua Non "This Is Not An Exit" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "An extended barrel-aged release, the 2009 Syrah This Is Not An Exit is 100% from the Santa Rita Hills Eleven Confessions Vineyard and checks in as a blend of 80% Syrah, 12% Grenache, 7% Roussanne and 1% Viognier that saw 41.5 months in 65% new French oak. Slightly exotic, with notions of kirsch, flower oil, smoked meats, licorice and graphite, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, loads of fruit and a blockbuster finish. More approachable than the 2010 extended barrel age Syrah, this beauty will still have 15+ years of longevity. Drink now-2024. (

Of the 2013 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Up with the top three or four Syrahs in the vintage, the 2013 Syrah Sur Echalas Vineyard, which was bottled in August of last year, offers a complex, savory, mineral-laced style to go with a complex bouquet of ground herbs, pepper, beef blood, dried flower and cured meats. This is a full-bodied Syrah that has considerable mid-palate density, fine tannin and good overall freshness (although I'm sure the pH is 4 or higher). Like the 2012, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will drink well for 15 years or more. (JD)" (06/2015)

2013 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah ((97-99RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I think the best of the Syrahs is the 2013 Syrah Bionic Frog, and while I've liked other single vineyards more than this cuvee in the past, it seems a solid step up in both 2012 and 2013. The 2013 offers incredible notes of roasted herbs, beef blood, mushrooms, scorched earth and sweet black fruits in a full-bodied, gorgeously concentrated, structured, serious style. Short-term cellaring should be the name of the game here, and while it should offer plenty of pleasure around age 5-6, I'd put money on it still singing at age 20. (JD)" (06/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Syrah La Paciencia Vineyard sports a darker ruby color to go with lots of savory dark fruits, crushed rock-like minerality, smoke and violets. One of the meatier, masculine Syrahs from Elizabeth, this full-bodied, layered, nicely concentrated beauty will drink well over the coming decade. Drink 2015-2025. (JD) " (06/2015)

Of the 2012 Reynvaan "The Contender" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2012 Contender is just another incredible effort from this estate. A big, full-bodied, layered, decadent and exotic Syrah, it gives up loads of blackberry, plum, earth, cracked pepper and assorted bacon/meaty qualities that continue to change and evolve in the glass. Of the 2010 TOR Kenward Family Wines "Hudson Vineyard/ROCK - Hommage Allan" Napa Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The red wines start with a super 2010 Syrah Hommage Allan Hudson Vineyard. For its quality, this is a great value. From Lee Hudson’s Vineyard, Tor used 30% whole clusters and believes 2010 is the best vintage for Syrah that he has seen since 2006. It offers a peppery, meaty perfume displaying hints of bouquet garni, charcoal, incense, blackberries, cassis and a touch of black olives. Supple and sexy, this northern Rhone-like Syrah is ric

2011 Torrin "Akasha" Paso Robles Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Torrin "Akasha" Paso Robles Syrah (95RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Akasha is another beautiful effort in the vintage. Made from 100% Syrah and aged in 55% new French oak, it comes from cooler, east- and north-facing plots, and harvest was on November 4th, two weeks later than in 2010. Its deep purple color is followed by loads of cassis and blackberry-styled fruit, ground pepper, licorice and baking spice, and it hits the palate with a full-bodied, lightly textured and graceful feel. Carrying plenty of savory tannin, solid mid-palate depth and a brilliant length on the finish, it too will benefit from short-term cellaring and have over a decade of longevity. Made by Scott Hawley, these are classic Paso blends that never lack for fruit or texture, yet always back it up with superb underlying structure. (JD)" (08/2014)

Of the 2012 Cayuse "Cailloux Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The only Syrah to be cofermented with Viognier, the 2012 Syrah Cailloux Vineyard (which sees mostly second-fill barrels) is one of the more serious, age-worthy examples of this cuvee I've tasted. Offering up lots of black raspberry, orange blossom, peach pit (these are no doubt due to the Viognier) and violet notes to go with almost searing minerality, this fabulous Syrah hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a layered, concentrated, tannic mouth feel and a great finish. 2012 Charles Smith "Royal City" Coumbia Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Charles Smith "Royal City" Coumbia Valley Syrah (99RP, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another wine that flirts with perfection is the 2012 Syrah Royal City. From the Stoneridge Vineyard in the Columbia Valley, it offers up a smorgasbord of aromas and flavors, including kirsch and dark fruits, gamy meats, pepper, liquid rock and olive brine. Insanely textured, with full-bodied richness and power, loads of sweet tannin and blockbuster length, give it a year or so and then drink this incredible Syrah over the following decade. As usual, this was a massive lineup by Washington's wild man, Charles Smith. Despite the larger-than-life persona, these wines are dead serious and are always some of the best I'm able to taste from the state. All of the Rhone varieties see 100% whole cluster, native fermentations and aging in mostly neutral French oak. (JD)" (06/2015)

Of the 1998 Fox Creek "Reserve" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 1998 Shiraz Reserve has the most potential of this trio. It combines some of the mature elements of the 1997 with the massive richness of the 1996, but without the 1996's slightly rustic framework. A dense purple color is followed by a sensational bouquet of creme de cassis, charcoal, and incense. Full-bodied, opulent, and voluptuously-textured, this is a big, but incredibly well-balanced wine. Its fruit bomb-like personality of a decade ago has morphed into something far more civilized, delineated, and refined. This gorgeous offering is a superb example of McLaren Vale Shiraz. Bid on this magnum of 2006 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah (1.5L) (100RP, 97WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Syrah Reva, coming from parcels of dark, volcanic soil, has off-the-chart richness and intensity. This thick, opaque-purple colored wine offers up notes of scorched earth, ground pepper, and blackberry liqueur intermixed with cassis, licorice, camphor, and tar. The wine is spectacular in every sense. Full-bodied and certainly not for wimps, this is a remarkably concentrated yet very nuanced and intense wine that should age for 20 more years. 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah ((97-99RP), 96AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Syrah releases started with the 2012 Syrah Stock. Coming mostly from the Eleven Confessions vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, it also has portions from Cumulus, The Third Twin and White Hawk. Made from 84% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Petite Sirah, 2% Viognier and the rest Mourvedre, it spent 20 months (it’s not yet bottled) in 52% new French oak. Showing the purity and suppleness of the vintage, yet with no lack of concentration, depth or richness, it gives up fabulous cassis, black raspberry, smoked meats and violet-like aromas and flavors that continue to change in the glass. In short, it’s a rock-star Syrah that could come from nowhere else. It should be approachable on release and evolve gracefully for two decades or more. (JD)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia (98RP, 97JH, 97ST, 97WS, 94JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " A wine that flirts with perfection, and should rival the 1986 as one of the legendary Granges produced, the 1998 has one of the highest alcohol contents (nearly 15%) as well as one of the highest percentages of Shiraz in the blend (97%). Its stunning purple color is accompanied by exceptionally sweet aromas of blackberry liqueur intermixed with barbecue spices, an endearing, smoky earthiness, pepper, roasted meats, and coffee. Huge, massive, unctuously textured, and extraordinarily youthful, this impressive wine is a candidate for perfection. It should continue to evolve over the next three decades. (RP)" (06/2009)
