1996 Jim Barry "The Armagh" Clare Valley Shiraz South Australia
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Jim Barry "The Armagh" Clare Valley Shiraz South Australia (94RP, 94WS, 93ST). Wine Spectator: "Dark and ripe, with a polished texture and meaty flavors to go with the black plum, licorice and black pepper at the core. A big, mouthfilling, soft-textured wine, but there's a kick of acidity and a light grip of tannins to give this some serious intent on the long finish. Still needs time to settle into itself.--Australian reds blind retrospective. 2,500 cases made. (HS, Web Only-2008)"

2000 Auguste Clape Cornas
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Auguste Clape Cornas (94WS, 91RP). Wine Spectator: "Gorgeous, this seemingly relies more on pure, driven plum, raspberry and cherry fruit than other vintages—until the finish takes over, where dark briar patch, sweet tapenade and mesquite notes assert themselves authoritatively. Ends with nice tension between the two sides. This should meld together a bit more slowly than the 2001. (JM, Web-2010) "

1998 Clarendon Hills "Astralis" Shiraz Clarendon Australia
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Clarendon Hills "Astralis" Shiraz Clarendon Australia (98RP, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sensational wine, the 1998 Syrah Astralis is a candidate for perfection. It boasts an inky/purple color as well as a big, complex, sweet perfume of charcoal, spring flowers, blackberry liqueur, roasted meats, and damp, forest floor-like notes. Enormously endowed, with good acid, backstrapping tannin levels, fabulous concentration, and a layered mouthfeel, it is beginning to throw off some of its closed, impenetrable personality. A long-termer, it needs another 5-7 years to fully open, and should last for 2-3 decades thereafter. (RP)" (06/2009)

1995 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Two stellar performances from the Jamet brothers, both the 1996 and 1995 are impressively-endowed, rich, highly-extracted yet beautifully harmonious examples of Cote Rotie. The spectacular 1995 Cote Rotie reveals an even more opaque purple color than the 1996. The wine exhibits fabulous concentration, massive body, and a finish that lasts for nearly 30 seconds. At present, it is more impressive for its potential than its current drinkability. The juicy, smoky Syrah character is well-displayed in the tar, licorice, cassis-scented nose. Thick, viscous, highly-extracted flavors are pure and mouth-coating. This large-scaled Cote Rotie will be at its apogee between 2002-2018." (10/1997)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (98JD, 97RP, 95WE, 94WS). Jeb Dunnuck: "Deep, meaty, and incredibly savory, the 2009 Cayuse Syrah Bionic Frog is dark ruby/purple and offers up a knockout, textbook northern Rhône bouquet of meaty black cherry fruit, pan drippings, bacon fat, peat moss, ground pepper, and searing minerality. Every bit as good on the palate, this full-bodied, structured Syrah is gorgeously concentrated and rich, while at the same time, staying very light on the palate, with brilliant focus, precision, and length. It’s the most firm and structured of the ‘09s, without much baby fat, and needs lots of air to shows at its best. It will ideally be given 3-5 years of bottle age, and should have two decades of longevity. 98+" (06/2012)

2000 Noël Verset Cornas
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Noël Verset Cornas ((89-92ST)). 89-92 points Stephen Tanzer: "Black cherry, blueberry, licorice and pepper, with inky and espresso nuances. Supple but cool, with black fruit, violet and inky flavors. Without the influence of new oak, there's no spurious sweetness here, and the wine is distinctly rustic but not at all unclean. Penetrating and firmly structured for a 2000, and quite difficult to assess at this stage." (Jan/Feb 03) According to Robert Parker: "One of my favorite growers, the diminutive Verset, who must be close to 90 years of age, has had an erratic track record over the last few years, (which does nothing to diminish the portfolio of great wines he produced in the seventies and eighties), but the 2000 is a successful effort. Its deep purple color is accompanied by aromas of blackberry liqueur, figs, plums, melted licorice, and scorched earth. Soft and savory, it is a sexy Cornas to enjoy over the next 8-10 years. Bravo!" James Suckling: "As I come back from a few weeks of travel around France, I’m revisiting this wine here from the Rhone. I enjoyed it a few months ago in Hong Kong with a few friends, and it was simply outstanding. It showed spices, herbs and dark berries on the nose. Juicy and idiosyncratic, with modest flesh and brisk acidity. Modestly ripe flavors of red berries and pepper. Finishes with surprisingly fine tannins. Verset couldn't find a single remaining bottle of 2002 in his garage cellar and had to pull one out of his private stash in the house." (02/2005)

1999 Nöel Verset Cornas
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Nöel Verset Cornas (94VN, 91ST). Vinous: "From an outstanding northern Rhône vintage, Verset's 1999 Cornas is still youthfully fruity and floral on the nose, offering aromas of fresh red berries, candied flowers and peppery spices, with a smoky mineral nuance slowly emerging. Juicy black raspberry and cola flavors expand in the mouth and pick up hints of cola and licorice, along with a touch of succulent herbs. Bitter chocolate and fruitcake notes emerge on the finish, which features dusty tannins and a jolt of juicy acidity. I'd hold onto this one for a while as it drinks like a much younger wine now and holds excellent promise. (JR)" (01/2015)

Lively and sharply focused, it offers spicy red fruit and floral flavors that are underscored by building minerality. It's bright, focused and spicy on the finish, which echoes the floral and spice notes. This thick, opaque-purple colored wine offers up notes of scorched earth, ground pepper, and blackberry liqueur intermixed with cassis, licorice, camphor, and tar. It offers stunning notes of blackcurrants, cassis, smoked meats, ground pepper and wild herbs to go with a full-bodied, unctuous, layered, yet always graceful and elegant feel on the palate. The utterly classic nose soars from the glass in a vibrant blend of raspberries, spiced meats, a stunningly complex base of stony soil tones, lavender, nutskins, a touch of cocoa powder and some undefined savory elements that are emerging from the stems. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish, pure and beautifully soil-driven, with a lovely core, moderate tannins, perfect focus and balance and a very long, complex and intensely flavored finish. There is not the same mid-palate concentration here as is found in superior vintages such as 1991 or 1983, but this is an absolutely complete vintage for Monsieur Gentaz and a breathtakingly beautiful wine. (Drink between 2013-2040) 93+ points" (08/2013)

2013 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (99RP, 96WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Flirting with perfection, the 2013 Syrah James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock is one of the wines of the vintage. Made from 80% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 5% each of Grenache and Roussanne, which saw a big chuck of whole clusters, it offers sensational aromas and flavors of black raspberries, violets, pepper and crushed rock that literally come leaping out of the glass. Full-bodied, seamless, elegant, yet concentrated and incredibly pure, with a finish that won't quit, this beauty will stand beside some of the greatest Hermitages out there. Give bottles 3-4 years and enjoy over the following 10-15 years. Unfortunately, due to ridiculously low yields, there won't be a Bone Rock released in 2014 or 2015, so don't miss this beauty! Bid on this bottle of 1998 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia (98RP, 97ST, 97WS, 95W&S, 95WE, 94JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine that flirts with perfection, and should rival the 1986 as one of the legendary Granges produced, the 1998 has one of the highest alcohol contents (nearly 15%) as well as one of the highest percentages of Shiraz in the blend (97%). Its stunning purple color is accompanied by exceptionally sweet aromas of blackberry liqueur intermixed with barbecue spices, an endearing, smoky earthiness, pepper, roasted meats, and coffee. Huge, massive, unctuously textured, and extraordinarily youthful, this impressive wine is a candidate for perfection. It should continue to evolve over the next three decades. (RP) 98+" (06/2009)

Of the 2011 Sine Qua Non "Dark Blossom" California Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2011 Syrah Dark Blossom showed even better from bottle than barrel ... this beauty was fermented with 17% whole clusters and aged in equal parts new and used French oak. One of the shining successes in the vintage, it’s a full-bodied, concentrated and layered Syrah that has awesome aromatics of blackcurrants, Peking duck, pepper, licorice and charcuterie in its seamless, thrillingly pure profile. As with Manfred’s other 2011s, the tannins are certainly present, yet they’re sweet, polished and have no hard edges. Give this beauty 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy bottles through 2031. James Suckling: "Super rich and deeply ripe, this is packed with dark fruits as well as violets, pepper, flint and graphite-derived aromas amid notes of dark Belgian chocolate. The palate delivers a sweeping wave of perfectly ripe tannins and a seamless build through red and dark plums to black-cherry liqueur. Complex spicy elements and a profound sense of elegance with power resound. Finishes all velvety. A brilliant wine with a lot more to come here in terms of unfurling and filling out. 2010 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 95VN, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Syrah Booker Vineyard - a blend of 81% Syrah and 19% Mourvedre - is about as textbook a representation of a Paso Robles Syrah as I can think of. Locked and loaded with notions of ripe black and blue fruits, smoke, bouquet garni, espresso, and licorice, it is unabashedly full-bodied, rich, and yet elegant on the palate. Showing real class, as well as first-rate freshness, superb depth and concentration, and masses of tannin, this blockbuster Syrah needs a solid 3-4 years of bottle age to flesh out, and will keep for 15-20 years or more. A benchmark estate for California, Saxum, under the helm of superstar winemaker Justin Smith, continues to produce some of the most compelling, profound wines on the planet. While Smith’s wines are always full-flavored and intense, there has been a stylistic change over recent vintages, with the wines showing

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Spottswoode "Field Book - Griffin's Lair" Sonoma Coast Syrah (93VN). Vinous: "The 2011 Syrah Field Book Griffin's Lair Vineyard is quite pretty in this vintage. Surprisingly soft and textured for the year, the 2011 is wonderfully open and expressive. Bacon fat, smoke, leather, plums, black cherries, menthol and melted road tar all flesh out in a layered, expressive Syrah long on personality and class. Overall, this is a pretty dense style for the year, with a lot of textural depth relative to most 2011s, largely the result of significant bleeding. The 2011 was fermented with 23% whole clusters. 2001 Sean Thackrey "Orion" St. Helena Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Sean Thackrey "Orion" St. Helena Syrah (95ST, 94RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated deep ruby. Wonderfully primary flavors of blueberry, blackberry, huckleberry, black olive, licorice and mint hint at a liqueur-like ripeness, but a subtle suggestion of chlorophyll gives the nose pungent lift. A wine of outstanding intensity and sap, conveying a lush texture and lovely savory complexity to its Syrah-dominated flavors of black fruits, minerals and smoke. Boasts an exhilarating balance of sweetness and acidity, with the extremely long finish energized by floral and pepper notes and framed by perfectly buffered tannins. This splendidly complex and concentrated wine still needs time to achieve its full potential. (ST) 95+" (04/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2006 Sine Qua Non "A Shot in the Dark" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 98WS, 96ST, 95JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A Shot in the Dark is composed of 96.5% Syrah and 3.5% Viognier from the 11 Confessions Vineyard in the cool Santa Rita Hills. Performing better from bottle than it did from barrel, this prodigious red exhibits incredibly velvety tannins, a seamless style, and no noticeable oak (which is remarkable given the fact it spent 32 months in barrel). Dense purple to the rim with an extraordinary perfume of blueberry pie, blackberries, soy, Asian spices, and hints of forest floor and charcoal, this is a complex, rich, seamless, well-balanced tour de force in winemaking. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (99JD, 98WE, 96RP, 95WS, 94VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "As is common with this wine, the 2007 Bionic Frog is showing even better now than on release and offers up a ripe, dense, and meaty profile that has more in common with the ‘08 than the structured and firm ’09. It has aromas of peppered beef, green peppercorns, lavender, bacon fat, and the expected minerality giving way to a full-bodied, layered, and perfectly put together palate that has a decadent, thick texture, superb balance, and a blockbuster finish.
