2009 Carlisle Syrah Tasting Lot
Bid on this 2-bottle 2009 Carlisle Syrah Tasting Lot , including 1-bottle of 2009 Carlisle Santa Lucia Highlands Syrah (92RP, 92ST) and 1-bottle of 2009 Carlisle "Pelkan Ranch" Knights Valley Syrah (94ST, 93WS). Of the 2009 Carlisle "Pelkan Ranch" Knights Valley Syrah,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Inky purple. Potent aromas of cassis, cherry liqueur, blueberry, exotic spices, violet and graphite. Incredibly deep, powerfully structured wine with sappy dark fruit flavors laced with espresso, violet, cola, star anise and cracked pepper. For all its power this wine comes across as almost racy, with wonderful lift and energy from bright, juicy acidity. The deep, sappy blackcurrant and blueberry flavors refuse to let up on the long, spicy finish. No stems were used here and the wine was raised in 50% new French barriques. (ST)" (05/2011)

2002 Greenock Creek "Alices" Shiraz Barossa Valley
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Greenock Creek "Alices" Shiraz Barossa Valley (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Flamboyant as well as focused, with laser-like precision, the 2002 Shiraz Alice’s was produced from 7-year-old vines. Dense, with remarkable intensity and wonderful freshness, it is a cool climate Barossa Shiraz with good acidity, enormous concentration, and a backward style that promises to be ethereal with 4-5 more years of bottle age. It should last for two decades or more." (10/2005)

2003 Linne Calodo "Nemesis" Paso Robles Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Linne Calodo "Nemesis" Paso Robles Syrah (94RP, 94WE, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Always this estate’s most Syrah-dominated wine, the 2003 Nemeses is a blend of 82% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, and 8% Grenache. Sadly, only 200 cases were produced of this exceptionally fragrant effort. Aromas of acacia flowers, blackberry liqueur, camphor, and a hint of barrique are followed by a wine with tremendous stuffing, a rich, full-bodied, multilayered mid-palate, and a ripe finish displaying sweet, but noticeable tannin. It will benefit from 1-2 more years of cellaring, and should age easily for a decade." (06/2005)

2012 Colgin "IX Estate" Napa Valley Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Colgin "IX Estate" Napa Valley Syrah (98JS, 98RP, 97VN, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The wine that probably gets ignored, but shouldn’t be, is their small production of 350-400 cases of Syrah from their estate vineyard. The 2012 IX Syrah Estate blew me away, and I’ve said many times that it always tastes as if it’s co-fermented with Viognier, but it is always 100% Syrah. It has a honeysuckle, flowery, almost white/peachy component in the blackberry and meaty aromatics that always throw me off. The wine is aged in small oak, but the oak is concealed by the lavish amount of fruit, glycerin and extract. This is a super-intense, massive, yet elegant and complex Syrah that should drink well for 10-15 years. This is an incredible lineup of wines from Ann Colgin, her winemaker Allison Tauziet and Bordeaux winemaking consultant Dr. Alain Raynaud. Of course, they have David Abreu, the superstar of viticulturalists, looking after their vineyards

2012 Sine Qua Non "Touche - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Touche - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 98VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lastly, the utterly perfect 2012 Syrah Touche reminds me of a great vintage of Guigal’s Cote Rotie La Landonne. A blend of 93% Syrah, 5% Petite Sirah and 2% Viognier, all from the Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, it spent 40 months in 78% new French oak. Deep, concentrated, full-bodied and layered, with a multidimensional texture and to-die-for notes of camphor, cured meats, violets, smoke and assorted dark fruits, this beauty has fine, perfectly ripe tannin and blockbuster length. Give it 3-4 years and drink over the following two decades. (RP)" (08/2016)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Sine Qua Non "Piranha Waterdance" California Syrah ((97-100RP), (95-97VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Syrah Piranha Waterdance is young and unevolved (more than the Grenache) and sports an inky blue color to go with lots of minerality, notes of cassis, violets and pepper, full-bodied richness and a surprisingly serious, structured, even masculine vibe on the palate. A blend of 81% Syrah, 8% Petite Sirah and the rest Mourvedre, Touriga Nacional and Graciano, fermented with 26% whole clusters and aging in 54% new French oak, it will be bottled just after the Grenache, in April of next year. 2012 Andremily "No 1" Santa Barbara County Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Andremily "No 1" Santa Barbara County Syrah (92VN). Vinous: "The 2012 No. 1 is rich, exuberant and beautifully layered in the glass, with plenty of dark cherry compote, herbs, smoke, licorice. Silky, polished tannins add to the wine's sensual feel, while a dollop of whole clusters gives the wine striking aromatic lift to balance the opulence of the fruit. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off the 2012, as it is incredibly inviting. There is just a touch of heat on the finish. Otherwise, this is a very strong 2012. The blend is 93% Syrah, 5% Viognier and 2% Mourvèdre, done with 30% whole clusters. The 2012 spent 25 months in French oak, 58% new." (08/2015)

Sporting a surprisingly deep, inky color, it offers a heavenly bouquet of black olives, tobacco leaf, smoked meats, pepper, blackcurrant and black cherry notes. Aromas of figs, chocolate, blackberry and cassis liqueur, roasted meats, and barbecue spice emerge from this hugely extracted, full-bodied monster. 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah (98RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A step up from the Grenache, the blockbuster-styled 2012 Syrah Stock checks in as a blend of 84% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Petit Sirah, and the rest Viognier and Mourvedre, that was fermented with 32% whole clusters and aged in just over half new French oak. It offers stunning notes of blackcurrants, cassis, smoked meats, ground pepper and wild herbs to go with a full-bodied, unctuous, layered, yet always graceful and elegant feel on the palate. Nicely structured, with perfect overall balance, it still has the open-knit character of the vintage, yet has plenty of underlying structure, which at the moment is slightly hidden by the wine's lavish fruit. Medium-bodied, pretty, focused and with fine tannin, it lacks some back-end oomph, but opens up nicely with air, has solid purity of fruit, and plenty of elegance and character. Wine Spectator: "*Highly Recommended, Ranked #5, Top 100 Wines of 2007* Rich and complex, this is layered with green olive, mint, mineral and licorice around a plump core of black cherry and dark plum flavors, which linger on the intense and beautifully focused finish. 2010 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (99RP, 97VN, 96ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Coming from a steep, terraced plot of head-trained Syrah, the 2010 James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock (90% Syrah and 10% Roussanne) is easily the most structured, intense wine in the lineup. Sporting absolutely off-the-hook aromas of smoked meats, black fruits, liquid mineral, pepper, and cigar wrapper, it flows onto the palate with a thick, incredibly rich texture that somehow manages to stay light and fresh. A total behemoth, it needs time to fully flesh out, yet is up there with some of the most monumental young wines I’ve tasted. It should be forgotten for 3-4 years, and then consumed over the following two decades. (JD)" (07/2014)

A chalky undertow adds contrast and tension. Best from 2015 through 2027. 960 cases made. (JM)" (10/2014)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2013 Vincent Paris "Granit 60" Cornas Vieilles Vignes ((92-94RP), (91-92VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cornas Granit 60 Vielles Vignes is serious stuff. Inky colored and loaded with cassis, black raspberry, violets and licorice, it has beautiful acidity in its full-bodied, ripe, polished style. It has rock-solid mid-palate concentrated, and terrific length, so give it a handful of years in the cellar and drink bottles through 2025. Like all of Paris’s Cornas releases, it sees only older barrels. (JD)" (12/2014)

2004 Cayuse "Armada" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Cayuse "Armada" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Just a slight step back from the 2005 and the 2003, the 2004 Syrah Armada Vineyard is still overflowing with character and offers blockbuster levels of flavor and intensity. Possessing a steak tartare, olive (and caper), cured meat, spice and sweet black-fruit-filled bouquet, it’s exuberant and sexy on the palate, with bright acidity (the only hint of the cooler vintage), fine tannin and a great finish. It’s drinking brilliantly today. Drink 2015-2022 (JD)" (06/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2014 Denner "Dirt Worshipper" Paso Robles Syrah (94VN, 93RP, 92WS). Vinous: "Glass-staining ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes ripe blue fruits, incense and potpourri, along with a building Indian spice nuance. Sweet, expansive and seamless in texture, offering deeply concentrated yet lively blueberry and black raspberry flavors and a sexy violet pastille flourish. The floral note carries emphatically through the impressively long, velvety finish, which leaves behind a sweet dark fruit liqueur note. (JR)" (09/2016)

2006 Sine Qua Non "A Shot in the Dark" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Sine Qua Non "A Shot in the Dark" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 98WS, 96ST, 95JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A Shot in the Dark is composed of 96.5% Syrah and 3.5% Viognier from the 11 Confessions Vineyard in the cool Santa Rita Hills. Performing better from bottle than it did from barrel, this prodigious red exhibits incredibly velvety tannins, a seamless style, and no noticeable oak (which is remarkable given the fact it spent 32 months in barrel). Dense purple to the rim with an extraordinary perfume of blueberry pie, blackberries, soy, Asian spices, and hints of forest floor and charcoal, this is a complex, rich, seamless, well-balanced tour de force in winemaking. A full-bodied, exuberant, unabashedly California Syrah, it will offer stunning drinking over the next 10-15+ years. (RP)" (08/2010)

2010 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2010 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) (98RP, 95VN, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Syrah Booker Vineyard - a blend of 81% Syrah and 19% Mourvedre - is about as textbook a representation of a Paso Robles Syrah as I can think of. Locked and loaded with notions of ripe black and blue fruits, smoke, bouquet garni, espresso, and licorice, it is unabashedly full-bodied, rich, and yet elegant on the palate. Showing real class, as well as first-rate freshness, superb depth and concentration, and masses of tannin, this blockbuster Syrah needs a solid 3-4 years of bottle age to flesh out, and will keep for 15-20 years or more. A benchmark estate for California, Saxum, under the helm of superstar winemaker Justin Smith, continues to produce some of the most compelling, profound wines on the planet. While Smith’s wines are always full-flavored and intense, there has been a stylistic change over recent vintages, with the wines sh

2004 Clarendon Hill "Hickenbotham Vineyard" Syrah McLaren Vale, South Australia
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Clarendon Hill "Hickenbotham Vineyard" Syrah McLaren Vale, South Australia (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of McLaren Vale’s most astonishing Syrahs is Clarendon Hills’ amazing 2004 Syrah Hickinbotham. Its inky/blue/purple hue is accompanied by aromas and flavors of creme de cassis, smoked meats, melted licorice, coffee beans, graphite, and bacon fat. Extremely full-bodied, powerful, and rich, with moderately high tannin, huge structure as well as massive concentration and intensity, but a sense of elegance, balance, and equilibrium, it should be cellared for 2-3 years, and drunk over the following two decades. 2009 Sine Qua Non "The Thrill of Stamp Collecting" Syrah
Bid on this bottle lot of 2009 Sine Qua Non "The Thrill of Stamp Collecting" Syrah (95RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2009 Syrah The Thrill Of impresses for its poise and underlying energy. Dark fruit, spices, licorice and violets sit on a core of firm tannin as this powerful wine opens up in the glass. Today, The Thrill Of comes across as very, very young. The intensity of the fruit and the oak are dominant at present. In another few years the wine should be spectacular. The Thrill Of... is 90% Syrah, 6% Grenache and 4% Viognier, all destemmed and mostly from estate owned vineyards."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-brick in colour, the 1990 La Mouline presents earthy / meaty aromas over an undercurrent of leather, sandalwood, dried plums, anise and dried mint. Elegantly constructed in the mouth with silky tannins and gently refreshing acid, the flesh is rich and opulent offering mouth-filling dried berry, meat and spice flavours that linger with great persistence. 1998 Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage Rouge (1.5L) (OWC)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1998 Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage Rouge (1.5L) (OWC - 98RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Chapoutier's Ermitage l'Ermite possesses a transparent character that almost allows the taster to see through the wine's multiple levels. What stands out is the liqueur of granite liquid minerality. The elegant 1998 Ermitage l'Ermite rouge is light, but exquisitely balanced, with subtle notes of smoke and black currants. The flavors unfold gently and gracefully, with nothing overstated. The power is restrained, the tannin is well-integrated, and the acidity is barely noticeable. However, the wine is fresh and beautifully delineated. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2040. (RP)" (02/2001)
