Rita Hills Grenache (100RP, 97VN) and 3-bottles of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Touche - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 98VN). Of the 2012 Sine Qua Non "Rattrapante - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Grenache,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "... My notes start - and end - with “Wow.” Giving up tons of black raspberries, peppery herbs, licorice, dried flowers and cured meats, it’s a massively concentrated, rich and layered Grenache that somehow manages to stay graceful, lively and fresh on the palate. There are roughly 800 cases of this elixir and any Grenache lover should do their best to latch onto a bottle (or two). It’s also worth noting that this cuvee saw 26% whole clusters, which is a small change from past vintages. (RP)" (

1999 Nöel Verset Cornas
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Nöel Verset Cornas (94VN, 91ST). Vinous: "From an outstanding northern Rhône vintage, Verset's 1999 Cornas is still youthfully fruity and floral on the nose, offering aromas of fresh red berries, candied flowers and peppery spices, with a smoky mineral nuance slowly emerging. Juicy black raspberry and cola flavors expand in the mouth and pick up hints of cola and licorice, along with a touch of succulent herbs. Bitter chocolate and fruitcake notes emerge on the finish, which features dusty tannins and a jolt of juicy acidity. I'd hold onto this one for a while as it drinks like a much younger wine now and holds excellent promise. (JR)" (01/2015)

2009 Sine Qua Non "The Thrill of Stamp Collecting" Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Sine Qua Non "The Thrill of Stamp Collecting" Syrah (95RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Syrah The Thrill Of impresses for its poise and underlying energy. Dark fruit, spices, licorice and violets sit on a core of firm tannin as this powerful wine opens up in the glass. Today, The Thrill Of comes across as very, very young. The intensity of the fruit and the oak are dominant at present. In another few years the wine should be spectacular. The Thrill Of... is 90% Syrah, 6% Grenache and 4% Viognier, all destemmed and mostly from estate owned vineyards. (AG)" (08/2012)

Of the 2012 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2012 Syrah James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock is the star of the show in 2012. Borderline perfection, it has straight up awesome notes of black and blue fruits, pepper, crushed violets and searing chalky minerality that shows on both the nose and palate. Of the 1998 Greenock Creek "Roennfeldt Road" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 1998 Shiraz Roennfeldt Road (235 cases) is made from yields of .75-1 ton of fruit per acre. The wine possesses the concentration of the greatest classics ever produced in such Bordeaux vintages as 1945, 1947, 1959, 1961, and 1982. This is a full-bodied red with a finish that lasts well over 60 seconds. For its size and concentration, it is, surprisingly, not heavy, just super-endowed. The Shiraz is accessible, but still primary. Unfortunately, quantities are extremely limited for this spectacular, world-class Australian red. (RP)" (10/2004)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Hundred Acre "Ancient Way Vineyard, Summer's Block" Barossa Valley Shiraz (94WE, 92ST). Wine Enthusiast: "Incredibly dark in color but light on its feet, this wine somehow manages to hide its 15.5% alcohol under fruit that’s neither overblown or jammy. Spice- and herb-driven complexity is the order of the day, with scents of violets lending an exotic note to the aromas. It's mouthfilling and palate-coating but wonderfully balanced, picking up hints of black olive and espresso on the lingering finish. Good now, but appears to have the stuff to evolve over at least 10–15 years." (11/2007)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Andremily No.3 Santa Barbara County Syrah (OCB - (98-100RP), (93-95VN)) in original cardboard. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "What could even surpass the sensational 2013, the 2014 No 3 from Jim Binns checks in as a blend of 89% Syrah, 8% Mourvedre and 3% Viognier that saw 54% whole clusters and will see a full 23 months in 60% new French oak. There will be a scant 450 cases of this nectar and it comes from three top sites: Larner Vineyard, White Hawk and Alta Mesa (Mourvedre). Sporting an inky, vibrant purple/blue color, it offers insane levels of purity and focus in its crème de cassis, crushed violets, exotic spice, floral and chocolate-laced aromas and flavors. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Sine Qua Non "Labels" California Syrah (98RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The recently released 2007 Syrah Labels (89% Syrah, 7% Grenache, and 4% Viognier) comes from the 11 Confessions Estate Vineyard (57%), a small amount from the home estate vineyard in Oak View called Cumulus, and the rest from purchased fruit grown in the White Hawk Vineyard in Los Alamos and the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria. A sensational effort, it is performing even better out of bottle than it did from barrel. An opaque purple color is accompanied by beautiful notes of charcoal, acacia flowers, blueberries, blackberries, graphite, and subtle smoke. Medium-bodied, pretty, focused and with fine tannin, it lacks some back-end oomph, but opens up nicely with air, has solid purity of fruit, and plenty of elegance and character. Performing better from bottle than it did from barrel, this prodigious red exhibits incredibly velvety tannins, a seamless style, and no noticeable oak (which is remarkable given the fact it spent 32 months in barrel). Dense purple to the rim with an extraordinary perfume of blueberry pie, blackberries, soy, Asian spices, and hints of forest floor and charcoal, this is a complex, rich, seamless, well-balanced tour de force in winemaking. 2015 Carlisle "Papa's Block" Russian River Valley Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Carlisle "Papa's Block" Russian River Valley Syrah ((90-92RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Syrah Papa’s Block is 100% Syrah and finished at 15.3% natural alcohol. This soft, juicy wine has velvety tannins, oodles of blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, as well as a touch of road tar and pepper. It is heady, rich, and is aged in 25% new French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Anticipated maturity: now-2025. A great success story, Mike Officer’s Carlisle Winery continues to not only protect heritage old-vine sites in Northern California, but to also turn out a bevy of realistically priced, delicious, consumer-friendly wines, primarily from Zinfandel, although Officer can also turn a trick or two with Grenache, Petite Sirah and Syrah. A blend of 81% Syrah, 8% Petite Sirah and the rest Mourvedre, Touriga Nacional and Graciano, fermented with 26% whole clusters and aging in 54% new French oak, it will be bottled just after the Grenache, in April of next year. Bottled after 30 months in barrel (with one racking after 26 months), it's an incredible Syrah that has a masculine, yet lively, fresh, and incredibly pure feel in its caramelized black fruits, licorice, scorched earth and distinct minerality. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The greatest Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert since the magnificent 1990 is the 2009. Jaboulet has nearly 100 acres in this appellation, and the 2009, which is bursting with potential, represents a great buy for Syrah lovers. Its dense purple color is followed by an explosive bouquet of blackberries, sweet cherries, licorice, Provencal olives, graphite and subtle smoke. Full-bodied with silky tannins as well as a terrific mouthfeel and palate penetration, this gorgeous offering should drink well for 15 or more years. One needs no further evidence of the extraordinary turn around in the quality of the Jaboulet wines than what proprietress Caroline Frey has accomplished in 2009 as well as 2010. 2014 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah. Praise for the producer from Stephen Tanzer: "Washington Syrah fans who haven’t tasted Christophe Baron’s Cayuse wines in a while may have memories of some wild, high-octane bottles from the early 2000s. Today’s wines are as lush and complex as ever yet rarely hit 14% alcohol, giving them better balance and flavor definition than ever before. Baron credits his biodynamic farming methods with allowing him to produce fruit with better phenolic ripeness at lower levels of potential alcohol." (07/2016) Wine Advocate on the 2014 vintage: "The 2014s also lean towards the more elegant, streamlined end of the spectrum, yet have another layer of texture and richness. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Christophe’s Armada Vineyard Syrah has slowly become one of my favorite releases and the 2010 Syrah Armada Vineyard does nothing to dampen my growing enthusiasm for the vineyard. From a high-density planting in 2001 that lies just behind the winemaking facility (or 'studio' if you’re talking with Christophe), it offers up a brilliant bouquet of sweet kirsch and plum liqueur intermixed with notions of bacon fat, wild herbs, ground pepper and liquid rock. Evolving beautifully with air and incredibly complex aromatically, it is full-bodied, voluptuously textured and delivers serious levels of fruit and richness without ever seeming the least bit heavy or cumbersome. Count me a fan and this knockout Syrah will stand toe-to-toe with the best in the world. Give bottles another 2-3 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following 12-15 years. 97+ points.

It possesses striking inner perfume and beautifully delineated fruit. Blackberries, blueberries, freshly cut white flowers, licorice, tar and asphalt are some of the notes that take shape in the glass. Alban gave the 2007 Reva 44 months in untoasted French oak barrels. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Paul Lato "Cinematique - Larner Vineyard" Santa Ynez Valley Syrah (94RP, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An elegant, silky effort that shows the prettier side to variety, the 2011 Syrah Cinematique Larner Vineyard (co-fermented with 7% Viognier) delivers a perfumed, elegant profile with sweet black raspberry, licorice, underbrush, crushed flower and hints of pepper all soaring from the glass. Showing the vintage elegance and weight profile, with medium to full body, it flows onto the palate with a seamless texture, good (not great) mid-palate concentration and fine tannin framing the finish. It should benefit from 1-2 years in the cellar and drink beautifully through 2023. Drink 2014-2023 ... (JD)" (08/2013)

Full-bodied, it is generous and rich in the mouth with bright acid and a medium-firm level of fine-grained tannins. It finishes long and fine. (LPB) " (02/2013)

2010 Sine Qua Non "Stockholm Syndrome" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Sine Qua Non "Stockholm Syndrome" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Syrah Stockholm Syndrome is a monumental effort that will stand toe-to-toe with the greatest Syrahs in the world. A blend of 96% Syrah, 3% Roussanne and 1% Viognier, it was fermented with 16% whole cluster before spending just under 42 months in 100% new French oak. It offers an incredible array of sweet dark fruits, cassis, white chocolate, licorice and hints of bacon fat that meld perfectly with its full-bodied, seamless, layered and impeccably put-together palate. Given the wealth of fruit here, it’s amazing how this stays light, graceful and elegant, without ever seeming over the top in any way. While there’s no shortage of tannin here, they’re sweet and integrated, so feel free to enjoy this rock-star effort anytime over the coming two decades or more. (JD)" (08/2014)

2013 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Up with the top three or four Syrahs in the vintage, the 2013 Syrah Sur Echalas Vineyard, which was bottled in August of last year, offers a complex, savory, mineral-laced style to go with a complex bouquet of ground herbs, pepper, beef blood, dried flower and cured meats. This is a full-bodied Syrah that has considerable mid-palate density, fine tannin and good overall freshness (although I'm sure the pH is 4 or higher). Like the 2012, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will drink well for 15 years or more. (JD)" (06/2015)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Paul Lato "Il Padrino - Bien Nacido Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Syrah (95RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Harvested in the first week of November, with tiny yields, the 2011 Syrah II Padrino Bien Nacido Vineyard is flat-out gorgeous. Fermented with 20% stem inclusion and richer and more masculine than the Larner Vineyard, with ripe raspberry, ground pepper, toast, underbrush, roasted meat and big crushed stone-like minerality, it flows onto the palate with a medium to full-bodied, firm and structured feel. Still playing in the house style of highlight elegance and finesse over power and richness, it needs another 1-2 years of bottle age and will have 12-15 years of ultimate longevity. Of the 2006 Cayuse "Cailloux Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The deepest colored of the lineup, as well as the most powerful and concentrated, the 2006 Syrah Cailloux Vineyard is Hermitage-like with its dark, meaty core of fruit, iodine, chocolate and mineral-laced aromas and flavors. Not harvested until mid-October and aged in 15% new French oak barrels, this full-bodied, decadent and concentrated Syrah has another handful of years before hitting full-maturity, and will have 25+ years of ultimate longevity. Bid on this magnum lot of 2001 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Meal (1.5L) (OWC - 94RP, 93ST, 91WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Reminding me of the 2005 (albeit with less concentration) with its classic, straight and focused personality, the 2001 Ermitage le Meal offers lots of gamy meats, olive, bacon fat and dark fruits to go with a medium to full-bodied, seamless, silky and elegant style on the palate. Shining for its purity, elegance and freshness - all of which make it hard to resist today - it's a great choice for readers looking for a classic, mature Hermitage that's drinking at point. Of the 2014 Cayuse "En Chamberlin" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Always the most exotic in the lineup, the meaty, iron, black olive and floral-scented 2014 Syrah en Chamberlin Vineyard has a big core of ripe tannin and sweet fruit in its full-bodied, exuberant style. Given the polish to its tannin, it should drink nicely in its youth, but I suspect it will be at its best from 2020-2034. (JD)" (06/2016)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2013 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah ((98-100RP), (91-93VN), 93W&S, 93WS, 92CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The same can be said for the 2013 Syrah Relentless, which might end up being the finest one they’ve ever made. The berries were the smallest they’ve encountered, and they were not the only winery to say that about the 2013 red varietals. A blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Petite Sirah, the wine is opaque black/purple with an incredible nose of subtle wood, charcoal embers, blackberry, blueberry and black raspberry fruit, baking spices, and again, a roasted meatiness with some bouquet garni thrown in the background. The complex aromatics were already starting to roar from the glass, and the wine, enormously endowed, is full-bodied and flawlessly constructed. This is a killer effort that should drink well for 40+ years. (RP)" (10/2014)

A massive wine that somehow holds everything together, it offers a wild array of cassis, blackberry, white chocolate, underbrush and pepper that flows to a full-bodied, layered Syrah that has masses of fine tannin and enough substance to evolve for decades. A blend of 85% Syrah, 5% Grenache, 3% Petite Sirah, 5% Roussanne and 2% Viognier that was fermented with 20% whole cluster and aged 22 months in 59% new French oak, it opens up beautifully in the glass and should be decanted if drinking anytime soon. 98+ (JD)" (08/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Just ever so slightly richer and more textured than the Sur Echalas Vineyard, the 2013 Syrah The Tribe Vineyard is a blockbuster effort that is up there with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Concentrated, full-bodied, sexy and layered on the palate, it has to-die-for notes of black cherries, currants, olives, steak tartare and Hermitage-like scorched earth characteristics. Of the 2010 Cayuse "Cailloux Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Coming from a cold, late vintage where the Syrah didn’t ripen until the first part of October, the 2010 Syrah Cailloux Vineyard showed spectacularly in the retrospective. Inky purple in color, it gives up classic floral qualities intermixed with ample olive tapenade, black raspberry, lavender, orange blossom and pepper on the nose. This gives way to a full-bodied, sexy, seamless and yet always elegant Syrah that has juicy acidity and ripe tannin kicking in on the finish. This was the first vintage where they moved part of the élevage to foudre, and this spent 16 months in roughly 15% new French oak. (JD)" (06/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2006 Clarendon Hills "Astralis" Syrah McLaren Vale South Australia (99RP, 98WS, 95ST). Though still very youthful, this big, rich, and powerful full-bodied wine has firm yet velvety tannins, a vibrant acid line and is very long on the finish. Drink it now to 2026+. (LPB)" (02/2014)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Glaetzer "Godolphin" Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley South Australia ((96-98RP), 95JH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This nearly perfect wine, made from 70% Shiraz (105- to 115-year-old vines) and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon (60- to 90-year-old vines), was cropped at a minuscule .5 to 1 ton of fruit per acre, and spent 15 months in French oak prior to bottling. Its gorgeously sweet, pure nose of crushed rocks, blueberries, cassis, and minerals soars from the glass. Floral-like black and blue fruits, an inky/purple color, and nearly endless depth and persistence on the palate are the stuff of legends.
