2011 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhone Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2011 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhone Blend (1.5L) (96RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beautifully done, and probably the most elegant, seamless version of this cuvee I’ve tasted, the 2011 Booker Vineyard offers terrific aromas and flavors of liquid violets, sappy underbrush, smoked , exotic spices and plenty of crushed rock-like minerality that are all carried by layers of sweet cassis and black raspberry. There’s a northern Rhone-like character here, but it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, fantastic mid-palate concentration, and a seamless, layered and multi-dimensional mouthfeel that’s hard to resist. Made from 67% Syrah and 33% Mourvedre and aged in 300- and 350-liter hogsheads (and fermented with varying degrees of whole cluster), this beautifully pure, polished and complex effort will benefit from short-term cellaring and have over 15 years of overall longevity. 2002 Mitolo "G.A.M." Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Mitolo "G.A.M." Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia ((95-97RP), 94JH, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Produced from 26-year old vines and aged in French oak (80% new), the 2002 Shiraz G. A. M. reveals tremendous fruit purity, but it does not yet reveal secondary nuances. The inky blue/purple color is accompanied by aromas of ink, camphor, graphite, blackberries, and blueberries. While it possesses tremendous purity as well as an enormous full-bodied texture, it is neither heavy nor overbearing. This stunning Shiraz may be even better than the 2002 Savitar. Time will tell. Barrel samples of three 2002s revealed tremendous potential in what appears to be the finest efforts Mitolo has yet produced. There are 300-400 cases of each, and all three are scheduled to be bottled in October. Kudos to young importer (31 years old!) Ben Hammerschlag for unearthing these potential superstars. 2003 Shirvington Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Shirvington Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (96BC, 96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The big, concentrated yet velvety-textured, magnificent 2003 Shiraz reveals a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, wood, and alcohol, it boasts aromas of blackberry liqueur intermixed with violets. The fragrant aromatics are followed by an explosively rich, full-bodied, unctuously-textured, compelling Shiraz. Interestingly, this 2003 does not appear to be quite as powerful or concentrated as the 2002s or 2001s, but that’s like splitting hairs. The evolution of this 2003 will be fascinating to follow. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Andremily No.3 Santa Barbara County Syrah (98-100RP), (93-95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "What could even surpass the sensational 2013, the 2014 No 3 from Jim Binns checks in as a blend of 89% Syrah, 8% Mourvedre and 3% Viognier that saw 54% whole clusters and will see a full 23 months in 60% new French oak. There will be a scant 450 cases of this nectar and it comes from three top sites: Larner Vineyard, White Hawk and Alta Mesa (Mourvedre). Sporting an inky, vibrant purple/blue color, it offers insane levels of purity and focus in its crème de cassis, crushed violets, exotic spice, floral and chocolate-laced aromas and flavors. Rich, full-bodied, layered and impeccably balanced, with tons of minerality and graphite on the finish, this quintessential Cali Syrah will benefit from short term cellaring and knock your socks off over the following decade or more. Bid on this magnum lot of 2014 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) ((97-99RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Leading off the wines from barrel, the 2014 Booker Vineyard is inky colored and downright unctuous, with tons of fruit, chalky minerality, full-bodied richness and no shortage of structure. One of the superstars in California is undoubtedly the humble, soft spoken, yet incredibly talented Justin Smith, who has had the reins at Saxum since 2000. And while a lot of winemakers would have been content to stick with the tried and true at this point, Smith continues to question, experiment and fine tune everything he does. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aged 18 months in primarily French oak, the 2004 Shiraz G.A.M. is an exceptional example of a precise yet full-flavored, concentrated Shiraz. Its gorgeous perfume of blueberries, blackberries, camphor, licorice, and pain grille is followed by an inky/blue/purple-colored wine offering superb purity, full-bodied richness, and gorgeous depth as well as texture. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lastly, the utterly perfect 2012 Syrah Touche reminds me of a great vintage of Guigal’s Cote Rotie La Landonne. A blend of 93% Syrah, 5% Petite Sirah and 2% Viognier, all from the Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, it spent 40 months in 78% new French oak. This full-bodied Syrah reveals surprising freshness, finesse, and elegance despite its size. The wine is long, rich, and French in style... Araujo's Syrah program continues to impress. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (OWC - 97RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Up with the top three or four Syrahs in the vintage, the 2013 Syrah Sur Echalas Vineyard, which was bottled in August of last year, offers a complex, savory, mineral-laced style to go with a complex bouquet of ground herbs, pepper, beef blood, dried flower and cured meats. This is a full-bodied Syrah that has considerable mid-palate density, fine tannin and good overall freshness (although I'm sure the pH is 4 or higher). Bottled after 30 months in barrel (with one racking after 26 months), it's an incredible Syrah that has a masculine, yet lively, fresh, and incredibly pure feel in its caramelized black fruits, licorice, scorched earth and distinct minerality. A fabulous attack, voluptuous, full-bodied mid-palate, multi-layered texture and finish suggest this brilliant Shiraz should drink beautifully for 12-15+ years." It offers stunning notes of blackcurrants, cassis, smoked meats, ground pepper and wild herbs to go with a full-bodied, unctuous, layered, yet always graceful and elegant feel on the palate. Nicely structured, with perfect overall balance, it still has the open-knit character of the vintage, yet has plenty of underlying structure, which at the moment is slightly hidden by the wine's lavish fruit. 1995 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1995 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Syrah (97RP, 94WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The spectacular 1995 Syrah Eisele Vineyard is one of the greatest New World Syrahs I have ever tasted. Approximately 300 cases were made, and it is even better out of bottle than it was in barrel. The color is an opaque purple. The bouquet offers explosive notes of wood fire, licorice, jammy blackberries and cassis, in addition to the unmistakable scent of black truffles/licorice. Full-bodied and rich, with sensational flavor extraction, remarkable harmony, and a 35+-second finish, this is profoundly great Syrah. While it is approachable, it will not reach full maturity for another 7-8 years; it will keep for 3 decades. Wow! (RP)" (12/1998)

2009 Sine Qua Non "This Is Not An Exit" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Sine Qua Non "This Is Not An Exit" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (97RP, 95ST, 95WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An extended barrel-aged release, the 2009 Syrah This Is Not An Exit is 100% from the Santa Rita Hills Eleven Confessions Vineyard and checks in as a blend of 80% Syrah, 12% Grenache, 7% Roussanne and 1% Viognier that saw 41.5 months in 65% new French oak. Slightly exotic, with notions of kirsch, flower oil, smoked meats, licorice and graphite, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, loads of fruit and a blockbuster finish. More approachable than the 2010 extended barrel age Syrah, this beauty will still have 15+ years of longevity. Drink now-2024. (JD)" (08/2013)

2003 M. Chapoutier "Le Méal" Ermitage Rouge (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2003 M. Chapoutier "Le Méal" Ermitage Rouge (1.5L) (99RP, 98WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The best bottle I've had, the still inky-purple 2003 Ermitage le Meal was firing on all cylinders on this occasion and was certainly a match for the 2009 and 2010. Tasting like a dry vintage port, yet with no sensation of heat or alcohol, it offers an insane bouquet of cassis, cracked pepper, violets, and mint that's literally overflowing the glass. Full-bodied, uber concentrated, voluptuous and still fresh and pure, it's a heavenly example of this killer terroir that will continue to knock your socks off for another 2-3 decades. Of the 2013 Next of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Cumulus Vineyard No. 7" Central Coast Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Possessing an uncommon purity and freshness, the 2013 Cumulus Vineyard #7 is 45% Syrah, 29% Grenache, 15% Petite Sirah and the rest Mourvedre, Touriga Nacionale and Roussanne. It has a perfumed, floral character as well as killer notes of cassis, exotic spice and violets, full-bodied density and depth, and building, polished tannin that emerge on the finish. It’s as seamless and pure as they come, and while I’m sure I’d crack a bottle the night I received it, it will benefit from short term cellaring. (JD)" (

2014 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend(1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2014 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend(1.5L) ((95-97RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Up there with the great vintages of this cuvee, the 2014 Syrah Broken Stones offers incredible purity and elegance paired with blockbuster richness and depth. Giving up lots of sweet black raspberry fruit, crushed rock, a hint of chocolate and toasted spice, this beauty is full-bodied, unctuous and layered. I never find this cuvee to have quite as many layers as the other Syrahs, but this is beautiful. This is the only cuvee from Justin that comes from multiple vineyards. Today, his wines are much more finesse oriented, pure and grac

2000 M. Chapoutier "Le Méal" Ermitage
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 M. Chapoutier "Le Méal" Ermitage (96WE, 94RP, 92ST). Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* If the gorgeous notes of brown sugar, graham cracker and black pepper on the nose don't reel you in, what's in the mouth will. Its blackberry core is juicy without being overblown; black olives, earth, leather and even a little raspberry flesh out the flavor profile. Has a velourlike texture in the mouth; its tannins are soft enough to age well, but age it certainly needs—it's showing restraint, and will need about 10 years to reach full bloom. " (09/2003)
