2004 Lynch Bages, Pauillac (3L) (OWC)
Bid on this 3L-bottle lot of 2004 Lynch Bages, Pauillac (3L) (OWC - 94WE, 93W&S) in original wood. Wine Enthusiast: "As always, Lynch-Bages comes in with an impressive performance. It is rich, dense and ripe with black fruit flavors. The texture is solid, the intense fruits complemented by ripe tannins. And, to finish, there is the freshness of currant fruit acidity. A really fine wine. *Editors' Choice* (RV)" (06/2007)

2004 La Fortuna Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 La Fortuna Brunello di Montalcino (92RP, 92WE, 3GR). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "La Fortuna's 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is especially beautiful in this vintage. The wine is remarkable for its density, richness and concentration, all of which have been achieved while maintaining clarity and freshness. The French oak is beautifully integrated in this sumptuous, generous Brunello. Suggestions of flowers and spices add notes of brightness on the finish. The Brunello spent a whopping 40 months in 25-hectoliter medium-sized casks prior to being bottled. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019." (06/2009)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien (93RP, 93WE, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Along with Leoville Las Cases and a few others, this is among the stars of the appellation. Made in a more floral, supple, Margaux-like style, the deep ruby/purple-hued 2004 Leoville Poyferre exhibits sweet, broad flavors, and plenty of tannin lurking beneath the surface. However, the abundant cherry, black currant, licorice, and smoke notes obscure the tannic clout. This rich, powerful, broad beauty should be drinkable in 2-3 years, and last for two decades. Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (375ml) (93BH, 93ST, 92JG). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red. Superripe, slightly decadent aromas of red cherry, leather and underbrush. Plush, fat and large-scaled; a full-blown expression of soil, with notes of smoke and game. This boasts extraordinary sweetness for the vintage, remaining just this side of over the top. Just a hint of nut skin on the finish. Very sexy wine. (ST)" (04/2007)

Of the 2004 Thomas Dundee Hills Pinot Noir,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Bright red. Seductive raspberry, redcurrant and wild strawberry aromas are complemented by an array of Asian spices, dried violet, yellow rose, cured meat, graphite and iron notes. I'd have called this a platonic Mazis-Chambertin, blind, but it's also floral enough to guess Clos de Beze, or meaty and mineral enough to say Cote-Rotie. Medium in body, with silky tannins supporting fresh raspberry and kirsch flavor, and suave mocha and smoky bacon notes adding depth. Impressively balanced, elegant wine, offering a deft mix of fresh berry, meat and musky earth tones, and finishing on a bright, persistent mineral note ..." (06/2007)

2004 Sine Qua Non "Into the Dark" Central Coast Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Sine Qua Non "Into the Dark" Central Coast Grenache (99RP, 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More up-front and open-knit, the 2004 In the Dark (Grenache) checks in as a blend of 84% Grenache, 8% Mourvedre, 7% Syrah and 1% Viognier that comes mostly from Manfred’s 11 Confessions Vineyard, yet includes small portions from Alban (10%) and Alta Mesa (9%) Vineyard. Reminding me of Clos Saint-Jean’s Sanctus Sanctorum with its incredible bouquet of sweet kirsch, licorice, dried baking spices, graphite and ground pepper, this beauty flows onto the palate with impeccable purity, perfect integration of its fruit, tannin and acidity, and blockbuster length. As is common with this estate’s wine, it’s the purity paired with serious richness that sets it apart. While still youthful and benefiting from a healthy decadence, I think it’s drinking at point and would aim to drink bottles over the coming 4-5 years. It will evolve gracefully for longer, but I see no reason t

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The youthful dark ruby/purple-colored 2004 Madrona Ranch(500 cases produced) reveals a slight touch of lightening at the edge along with beautiful blueberry, black currant and floral notes. The enticing entry is followed by a medium to full-bodied, lush, opulent, Pomerol-inspired wine (despite the fact it is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc rather than Merlot). It cuts a bigger swath across the palate than the Merlot, but with no hard edges. Deeply textured and multidimensional with loads of fruit as well as a flawless integration of acidity, alcohol, tannin and wood, this medium to full-bodied, classic Blankiet should continue to drink well for another 15-20 years. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 97RP, 94ST, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aged 20 months in 72% new French oak, this blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc comes from a great vineyard on the valley floor in Oakville, just south of Rudd Estate and Plumpjack. The wine’s dense ruby/purple color is followed by a beautiful, Pauillac-like (think Pontet Canet or Mouton), ethereal perfume of creme de cassis, or as Michael Broadbent used to say, 'celestial black currants,' full body, a velvety texture, fine tannins, a multidimensional mouthfeel, and a terrific finish. While there were no real surprises tasting this wine, I was somewhat intrigued by just how youthful the 2004 Screaming Eagle is showing. I had expected it to reveal slightly more evolution. I thought the 13% Merlot in the blend would push the evolution more quickly. The finish lasts for a full minute. As it has been in just

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Alfredo Roagna "La Rocca e la Pira" Barolo Riserva (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Roagna’s 2004 Barolo La Rocca e la Pira is awesome. A sensual, layered Barolo, the wine emerges from the glass with gorgeous inner perfume, power and depth in its dark fruit. The aromatics seem to be developing faster than the fruit and structural components. My impression is that this won’t be a terribly long-lived wine, but it should drink well to age twenty or so. The 2004 Roda I Reserva is purple-colored with an expressive, youthful bouquet of wood smoke, espresso, incense, tobacco, black cherry, and blackberry. Structured on the palate, it has enough ripe tannin to evolve for another 6-8 years. Sweetly fruited, it has superior depth and concentration, layered savory flavors, and a lengthy, pure finish. Showing better than it did in its infancy, this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot has an inky purple color as well as notes of lead pencil shavings and scorched earth that resemble a great Graves, blackberry and creme de cassis fruit, licorice and subtle smoky barbecue. It also reveals a full-bodied texture, stunning concentration and beautiful richness. This is the only time the Kapcsandys made this particular blend and it certainly is performing incredibly well at age ten. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 98RP, 95VN, 93WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The wild man of Napa Valley, Jayson Woodbridge, has turned out one of the superstars of 2004, with the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan. His wines always tend to be gorgeous young, offering up an impression that they’re not going to last. But his first vintage, 2000, seems to get better and better, even though it was spectacular when released. The 2004, which was harvested in September, shows an almost Pomerol-like sweet mocha, kirsch, black currant and deeply fruited mouthfeel. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, but the clay soils of his vineyard seem to give a sweetness of tannin and a voluptuous character to the texture. This wine oozes rich, concentrated fruit, is light on its feet and has gorgeous purity, a multidimensional mouthfeel and a stunning finish. Rich and broad with sweeter tannins than one expects in a ten-year-old Dunn Cabernet, it reveals impressive richness, power and purity, but is still an adolescent in terms of its evolution. Slightly more evolved than the Dunn Cabernets of the early and mid-1980s, it can be drunk now or cellared for another 20-25 years. (RP)" (04/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Sloan Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 98RP, 96WS, 92VN) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Sloan’s spectacular inky/purple/garnet color is followed by notes of high quality espresso roast, chocolate, black currants, truffles and a striking minerality. Full-bodied and super-rich with that roasted character that one finds in Cote Rotie and some of the great Haut-Brions from Pessac-Leognan, this full-bodied, rich 2004 is a super-star of the vintage. Although the tannins are elevated, they are extremely sweet and well-integrated. This spectacular 2004 is performing even better now than it did following bottling. It is also one of the more developed and evolved vintages of Sloan, no doubt because that was the nature of the 2004 vintage. Drink it now and over the next two decades. (RP)" (04/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97WE, 95VN, 94CG, 94RP, 93WS). Wine Enthusiast: "Tasted in October, 2007, the wine was mute, offering little aromatically except for teasing notes of blackberries and oak. That shyness extended to the taste, where strong, hard tannins provide an almost impenetrable coat of armor to what’s inside. But right down the middle of the palate is a deep, intensely powerful stream of perfectly ripened cassis that’s all the proof you need of ageability. This is a magnificently structured young wine, reminiscent of a fine young Pauillac. Best after 2012, and should have another decade after that, at least." (02/2008)

This is the most open-knit and evolved of all these 2004s. Full-bodied with fabulously concentrated chocolaty, espresso, black currant and blackberry fruit notes, it is fragrant, silky smooth, broad, supple and altogether captivating. This is a beauty to drink over the next 10-15 years. A brilliant project of Harlan Estates’ proprietor, Bill Harlan, these single-vineyard wines have been everything a Cabernet connoisseur could ever hope for since they were first released. 2004 Domaine Jean Tardy Clos Vougeot Grand Cru "Grand Maupertuis"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Jean Tardy Clos Vougeot Grand Cru "Grand Maupertuis". Allen Meadows (Burghound) writes: "Jean Tardy and his son Guillaume run this small, traditional 5.5 ha domaine. Tardy is unique in that they are the last remaining sharecroppers for Domaine Méo-Camuzet (see above). The domaine leases a small parcel of Clos de Vougeot, a large one of Boudots and fully 1.5 ha of Chaumes. The terms of the métayage agreement require Tardy to deliver 50% of the crop to Méo at harvest time and he reports that the lease runs until 2007. They practice lutte raisonné (the practice of applying treatments only when a particular threat presents itself, rather than treating in advance - the theory is that the vines receive fewer treatments because not all threats materialize), short pruning and replant strictly by repiquage, or replacing individual vines rather than grubbing up parcels in their entirety; this keeps average vine age at its maximum though it's far more expe

Bid on this magnum lot of 2004 Joseph Phelps Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L (90RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Cabernet Sauvignon at Phelps is represented by the opulent 2004 Napa, a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot. A sexy style of Cabernet, dark ruby/purple-colored, with notes of subtle herbs intermixed with black currant, cedar, and spice, this medium to full-bodied wine should be drunk over the next 7-8 years. Bid on this bottle of 2004 Bodegas Numanthia-Termes "Termanthia" Toro (96WS, 94RP, 94ST, 93W&S). Wine Spectator: "Powerful yet graceful, this red shows concentration, intensity and elegance. Oak is dominant now, with luscious mocha, dark chocolate and toasty flavors, but there's plenty of ripe black fruit underneath. Massive tannins are so well-integrated the wine feels plush, and lively acidity keeps this balanced. Best from 2010 through 2020. (TM)" (11/2007)

2004 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend (93RP, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Les Pavots is ripe and is a relatively similar blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine exhibits notes of forest floor intermixed with chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, espresso, and spice. It is strikingly more tannic, and closed compared to the 2005, which is almost the reverse of the vintage character. There were only 2,000 cases produced of the 2004, which needs 2-3 years of bottle age and should drink well for 15+ years. (RP)" (12/2007)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Barolo Percristina sweeps across the palate with masses of silky, dense fruit framed by firm, yet almost impossibly elegant tannins. This is an utterly captivating Barolo for its sheer power, richness and opulence. Despite the wine’s size, there is plenty of detail and nuance to explore in this utterly sensual, captivating Percristina. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (93ST, 92WE, 91W&S). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated, bright medium ruby. Crushed cassis, licorice and minerals on the nose. Pure, primary black fruit and mineral flavors framed and enlivened by surprisingly juicy acidity. Very firmly built, vibrant wine with the structure to reward aging. Winemaker Bob Foley noted that Pride's Cabernet had better than usual acidity in 2004, and certainly more than in 2003 or 2002; the harvest here lasted into early November. (ST)" (06/2007)

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Palmer, Margaux (94RP, 93WE, 92ST, 91WS, 90JG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This stunning wine is one of the vintage’s great successes. Administrator Thomas Duroux has fashioned a modern day version of Palmer’s brilliant 1966. Displaying a rare combination of power and elegance, this dense purple-colored offering exhibits notes of blackberries, truffles, flowers, incense, and camphor. Long, classic, and medium to full-bodied with stunning texture and richness, this superb effort is a candidate for the finest Margaux of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2025+. The AVA for these wines is Atlas Peak, and the soils are all of volcanic origin. The top-notch consulting winemaker is none other than Kirk Venge."

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (94RP, 94WE, 93W&S, 92JS, 91ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the London Pichon-Baron off-line. This is a great, great 2004 – a huge success for Christian Seely in a more challenging growing season than the ensuing one. A soaring blackberry, blueberry, cedar and wild strawberry nose with a touch of violets. Very fine tannins on the full-bodied palate, superb focus, elegant and feminine with a touch of burst toast and graphite on the finish. Great persistency. Quintessential Pauillac – at its finest. Of the 2001 Twomey Napa Valley Merlot,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2001 Merlot (a 6,354-case blend of 94.3% Merlot and 5.7% Cabernet Franc) exhibits fragrant aromas and flavors of espresso roast, coffee beans, smoke, chocolate, and loads of berry fruit. Dense plum/ruby in color with a hedonistic personality, this is a heady, full-bodied wine ... Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Vega Sicilia "Unico" Ribera del Duero (OWC - 98WE, 97RP, 96ST) in original wood. Wine Enthusiast: "Lightly baked and hinting at raisin and fine herbs, the bouquet on this benchmark Spanish red enfolds aromas of tobacco, moss and ripe tomato. In the mouth, it’s elegant and silky but also full and expansive. Flavors of baked berry fruits, baking spices, herbs and cocoa finish with a light coating of toast. This is an amazingly complete, exemplary wine that’s just entering its prime. If past vintages of Unico are an indication, it will age well through 2035. (MS)" (05/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "La Fortuna’s 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is especially beautiful in this vintage. The wine is remarkable for its density, richness and concentration, all of which have been achieved while maintaining clarity and freshness. The French oak is beautifully integrated in this sumptuous, generous Brunello. Suggestions of flowers and spices add notes of brightness on the finish. 2004 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (91CG, 90VN). Connoisseurs Guide: "Deep, well-defined curranty fruit is the driving force of this nicely extracted, young Cabernet, while complementary oak and deft touches of cocoa lend a boost in overall richness. If fairly full-bodied, the wine shows nary a hint of heaviness and sports a fine sense of balance from beginning to end. It is supple to start and finishes with appropriate tannins, but its astringency never gets in the way of its ongoing fruit, and time is a guaranteed remedy to its wholly acceptable toughness."
