2004 Cardinale Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Cardinale Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Winemaker Chris Carpenter has turned out a brilliant wine that’s a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot, from the To-Kalon, Taylor, Veeder Peak and Keyes vineyards, so this is definitely a cross-Napa Valley offering. This wine has an opaque purple color, a big sweet kiss of licorice, incense, lead pencil shavings and a boatload of creme de cassis and blueberry liqueur. Tannins are present, but ripe, and the wine is voluptuously textured and full-bodied, with stunning purity and stature on the palate. This is one serious, yet approachable, proprietary red that can be drunk now, or cellared for another 10-15+ years. (RP)" (04/2014)

2004 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona "Vigna di Pianrosso" Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona "Vigna di Pianrosso" Brunello di Montalcino (94RP, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The estate’s 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso possesses striking depth as endless layers of sweet, perfumed fruit emerge with tons of grace. This, too, is an intense, full-bodied wine. The balance here is utterly exceptional, and the wine’s sheer plumpness makes for a highly rewarding glass of Brunello. Succulent dark cherries, spices, underbrush, minerals and new leather come to life as the wine sits in the glass, yet this remains a backward, structured Brunello in need of serious bottle age. The Pianrosso is a terrific effort from proprietor Paolo Bianchini. Ciacci’s Pianrosso is an old-vines selection that spent 36 months in Slavonian oak. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. 2004 Clos Mogador Priorat
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Clos Mogador Priorat (96RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Clos Mogador is produced by the esteemed Rene Barbier who has hit homeruns in both 2003 and 2004. The 2004 Clos Mogador has a more saturated purple color than the 2003 as well as a more expressive perfume of mocha, coffee, and flowers (violets) in addition to toasty oak, earth, and blue and black fruits. More extracted and backward than the 2003, it demands a decade of cellaring and should drink well for an additional 20 years. The 2004 is a tour de force. 96+. (JM)" (02/2007)

2004 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth-Bodega Headlands" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth-Bodega Headlands" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ((96-98RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bordering on perfection, the 2004 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands (from Kistler’s new vineyard planted on the Sonoma Coast) offers up sweet plum, forest floor, and violet scents along with a La Tache-like, ethereal, floral, and black raspberry-like character. This prodigious, deep ruby/purple-colored Pinot possesses fabulous concentration as well as a layered, multidimensional palate, wonderful fruit, sweet tannin, and good acidity. It should age beautifully for 10-12 years. Interestingly, Steve Kistler planted this vineyard with the old Calera clone, which is rumored to be a suitcase clone pulled out of the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti grand cru vineyards." (12/2005)

2004 Williams-Selyem Central Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Williams-Selyem Central Coast Pinot Noir (91CG). Connoisseurs Guide: "*Good Value* This one stands clearly apart from the rest of its kin in that it is a broader, more obviously ripened and somewhat viscous, fuller-bodied wine as opposed its slightly more measured and brighter siblings. It does, however, share in the very deep and generous fruit that marks every one of the Williams Selyem 2004s, and, in this wine, that fruit is a bit riper, a bit more black-cherry-like and carries a mild suggestion of milk chocolate along with it. Clearly on the open and obvious side, the wine has some spine to go with all of its flesh, and, while tasty enough now, it just might improve for another three of four years." (06/2006)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better is the Whitehall Lane 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Leonardini Vineyard. This St. Helena terroir has turned out a dense ruby/purple-colored wine with great fruit, lots of black cherry, black currant and floral notes, stunning concentration, barely a whiff of oak, and a full-bodied, long finish that lasts 40+ seconds. Incredibly youthful for a 2004, it promises to last another 15-20 years. " (04/2014)

Tannins are well-integrated. Best from 2007 through 2015. " (07/2006)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (95JS, 94WS, 92RP, 91ST). James Suckling: "*Daily Collectibles* This is another example of the wonderful 2004 vintage for Bordeaux. They are so delicious to drink now. The Cos is one of the best out there. And very reasonably priced at less than $150 a bottle. The charcuterie that hits you as soon as you open this Bordeaux is overwhelming: It's smoky, spicy and sexy. Minutes later you realize the complexity on offer, catching just a scent of the dark fruits hidden beneath, and before those, long and wonderful hints of balsamic vinegar. On the palate this shows elegance and finesse thanks to fabulous balance, extremely integrated tannins and a long and glorious finish. This is so satisfying and wonderful now, but the slightly bitter aftertaste on the rear palate suggests this could do with at least another 10 years before opening. " (08/2014)

This one took six months in the barrel to finish fermenting its sugars, noted Landanger." (03/2006)

This starts out dry to taste, but then there is an explosion of strawberry and red currant fruits as the tannins fall back to reveal a wine that, while big, is certainly not overwhelming—leave that to more powerful vintages than 2004." Aromas of black plum and violet lifted by spices. Rich and seamless, with good lift and definition to the plum and floral flavors. Finishes with broad, palate-dusting tannins and lovely aromatic persistence. Very sexy already. I asked Grivot why he uses a good 20% more new oak than he did ten years ago. 2004 Elio Altare Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Elio Altare Barolo (93AG, 92WE, 92WS, 90ST). Antonio Galloni: "Altare’s 2004 Barolo is a sweet, dense wine loaded with considerable fruit that hides the tannic structure that lurks underneath. Licorice, menthol, baking spices and dark red fruit all make an appearance in this superbly well-proportioned Barolo. Sweet, ripe tannins, and a lingering note of mint give this wine a beautiful sense of lift on the finish. Altare’s Barolo was once quite representative of La Morra, but the recent addition of vineyards in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga in the blend make this a very different – dare I say it – almost traditional expression of Barolo. It is a lovely wine and is not to be missed. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2024. " (12/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Elderton "Command" Single Vineyard Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (96RP, 95WE, 94WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium garnet in color, the 2004 Shiraz Command Elderton Estate is a little mute at this stage, revealing subtle to moderate aromas of leather, sandalwood and spice over warm blackberry plus some mocha. Full-bodied with medium-firm fine tannins, complex evolving flavors and a great line of acid, the finish is very long. Give it another year or 2 for the nose to emerge from this closed stage and drink it 2012 to 2022+. (LPB)" (12/2010)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cepages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92WE, 90W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Cinq Cepages is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot. A big sweet kiss of incense, bay leaf, white chocolate, black cherries, black currants and a touch of smoke jump from the glass of this opaque purple-colored wine. Rich and concentrated, this comes across as one of the best vintages I have tasted of Cinq Cepages. There are still some light tannins in the finish and this wine, while clearly entering its period of maturity, has at least another 15 years of cellaring potential. (RP)" (04/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97WE, 94CG, 94RP, 94WS, 93ST, 91W&S). Wine Enthusiast: "Tasted in October, 2007, the wine was mute, offering little aromatically except for teasing notes of blackberries and oak. That shyness extended to the taste, where strong, hard tannins provide an almost impenetrable coat of armor to what’s inside. But right down the middle of the palate is a deep, intensely powerful stream of perfectly ripened cassis that’s all the proof you need of ageability. This is a magnificently structured young wine, reminiscent of a fine young Pauillac. Best after 2012, and should have another decade after that, at least." (02/2008)

Aged 16 months in French oak and American hogsheads, this larger-than-life, fascinating wine (cropped at .25 to 1 ton of fruit per acre) offers big, sweet, blackberry and cassis characteristics intermixed with notions of smoke, licorice, and pain grille. 2004 Falesco "Marciliano" Cabernet Umbria (1.5)
Bid on this magnum of 2004 Falesco "Marciliano" Cabernet Umbria (1.5). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Marciliano (70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc) is made in a similarly powerful, structured style as the Montiano. Unfortunately it doesn't have that wine's core of fruit and I don't see it ever becoming an especially generous wine. The Cabernet Franc character is also surprisingly absent in this wine. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016. (AG)" (02/2008)

Of the 2004 Bond "Pluribus" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Perhaps the wine that jumped the most in score from when I first tasted these wines out of bottle in 2008, is the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Pluribus. Rated 94 back in 2008, it’s now a solid 98 and knocking on the door of perfection. This wine comes from a Spring Mountain vineyard northwest of the charming town of St. Helena. It has gorgeous notes of graphite, acacia flowers, blueberry liqueur, scorched earth and hot stones. Reminiscent of a top Graves, it is another full-

2004 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, comes from steep mountain vineyards at the top of the Napa side of Spring Mountain. Aromas of black olives, tapenade, creme de cassis, licorice and truffles emerge from this opaque ruby/purple-colored, youthful 2004. Togni’s spiritual reference point is Bordeaux more than Napa Valley, and his wines seem to represent a hypothetical melange of those two distinctive schools of wine. Still backward, but rich, full-bodied and promising, this brilliant 2004 is 5-7 years away from its adolescence; it should age for 30-40 years. (RP)" (04/2014)

2004 Finca Allende "Calvario" Rioja
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Finca Allende "Calvario" Rioja (95WE, 93RP, 93ST, 91WS). Wine Enthusiast: "The bouquet explodes with tobacco, leather, dry oak and waves of berry fruit. In the mouth, the wine sits comfortably on the tongue, with firm tannins offering structure to the bedazzling boysenberry, black cherry and cassis flavors. Long and intoxicating on the finish." 2004 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Also offering off-the-charts richness, with a flamboyant, hedonistic profile, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc) possesses spice-laced aromas and flavors of cassis, smoke tobacco, roasted meats, dried licorice and wild herbs that are to die for. Full-bodied, incredibly layered, rich and textured it has no hard edges, masses of tannin and a finish that won’t quit. I’ve been lucky enough to taste this cuvee three times (rated 96 and 97) in the past handful of weeks and this was the best showing yet. From a cool vintage, it is still youthful and vibrant, and will continue to shine for another 15+ years. Drink now-2028. (JD)" (06/2013)

Of the 2004 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The two flagship wines of this brilliant estate, which straddles the Sonoma and Napa county lines at the top of Spring Mountain, include the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot). Sixty-eight percent of the fruit comes from Sonoma and 32% from Napa. It exhibits classic notes of creme de cassis, licorice, cedarwood, incense and a hint of toasty oak in the background.
