2004 Dönnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshöhle Riesling Auslese Nahe (375ml)
Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 2004 Dönnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshöhle Riesling Auslese Nahe (375ml) (95RP, 94WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Niederhauser Hermannshohle Riesling Auslese is blazingly bright in the nose, with tropical fruit richness allied to bright citrus and tart red raspberry notes. In the mouth there is sharpness and brightness as well as a complex dynamic of mango, pink grapefruit, red raspberry and pungent spice and mineral saltiness. This lacks the delicacy or serenity of so many of Donnhoff’s best wines, but in its jazz-like syncopation of flavors and the almost jarring juxtaposition of blazingly bright citricity with massive density, offers an exciting personality all its own. 2004 Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino (93ST, 92WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium red. Knockout nose suggests a wine of strong extract and extends one's Brunello vocabulary: cherry, peach pit, licorice, lead pencil, honey, jasmine, botanical herbs, you name it. Dry, classic and sharply delineated, conveying a strong impression of energy allied with great delicacy. This manages to be very ripe, broad and silky and at the same time virtually weightless. Finishes sweet, pliant, minerally and very long. With aeration, though, this shut down dramatically in my glass and showed a leathery element. One for the cellar. (ST)" (07/2009)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Volnay. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good dark red. Ripe aromas of black cherry and chocolate. Finishes with fine, slightly drying tannins." (03/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Conterno Fantino "Sorì Ginestra" Barolo (96RP, 96ST, 96VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Conterno-Fantino have once again produced one of the vintage’s finest wines with their stunning 2004 Barolo Sori Ginestra, which is just as impressive in bottle as it has been on the several occasions I have tasted it from barrel. This explosive, heady Barolo bursts onto the palate with seamless layers of ripe dark fruit, black cherries, menthol, cinnamon, pine and minerals, revealing profound depth and richness. It offers superb length, gorgeous, sweet tannins and a finish that lasts forever. Although it is a surprisingly accessible Sori Ginestra at this stage, I expect it will close down at some point in the near future. Readers who have an opportunity to taste this wine in the next few months should not hesitate to do so. This is a remarkable Barolo in every way. (AG)" (12/2007)

2004 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah (95RP, 94WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Syrah Reva is classic in style, with its iodine, olive and salty, marine-like character front and center. Coming from the gravelly, sandy clay loam soils on the estate, it shows more textbook Syrah character with air (very northern Rhone-like) and has first rate complexity, gorgeous dark fruit and brilliant overall purity. Showing almost no evolution, with full-bodied richness, fine tannin and a balanced, fresh and lengthy profile, it will continue to drink beautifully for another decade or more. (JD)" (04/2014)

2004 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Merlot
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Merlot (94RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Merlot includes 12% Cabernet Franc in the blend and was sourced from the Champoux and Taptiel Vineyards. The wine was aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Purple-colored, it has a splendid perfume of pain grille, spice box, cranberry, red and black currants, and red licorice. This is followed by a lush Merlot that offers layers of sweet fruit, complex flavors, light tannins, and a sense of sophistication. This superb Merlot can be enjoyed now but will add complexity and fill out with another 5-6 years in the cellar. It should provide pleasure through 2024. (JSM)" (08/2007)

Finishes with substantial, slightly tough tannins that will call for a good five or six years of cellaring. (ST)" (11/2008)

2004 Shirvington Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Shirvington Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (95RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The sensational 2004 Shiraz’s inky/purple color is followed by aromas of graphite, blueberries, and creme de cassis. It offers wonderful purity, plenty of stuffing, toasty espresso notes from new oak barrels, admirable intensity, and a tremendous finish. Drink it over the next decade. Former winemakers Sarah and Sparky Marquis have left Shirvington and the wine is now being made by Kim Johnston. Little has changed, although the 2004s appear to be more streamlined and delicate than their 2003 and 2002 counterparts." (10/2005)

Of the 2003 Mitolo "GAM" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The spectacular, dense ruby/purple-colored 2003 Shiraz G. A. M. (named after the Mitolo family’s three children) exhibits aromas of lead pencil shavings, blackberries, blueberries, cassis, licorice, new oak, and scorched earth. This complex 2003 comes across as a hypothetical blend of a great La Mission-Haut-Brion from Bordeaux and a Rhone Valley Hermitage such as Chapoutier's Pavillon. 2004 Kapcsandy "State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Kapcsandy "State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 96WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 performed spectacularly and the good news is that 1,200-1,300 cases were produced. Showing better than it did in its infancy, this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot has an inky purple color as well as notes of lead pencil shavings and scorched earth that resemble a great Graves, blackberry and creme de cassis fruit, licorice and subtle smoky barbecue. It also reveals a full-bodied texture, stunning concentration and beautiful richness. This is the only time the Kapcsandys made this particular blend and it certainly is performing incredibly well at age ten. It’s one of the superstars of the vintage and should continue to drink well for another 15-20 years. (RP)" (04/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon RBS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 97WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon RBS, made from clone 337 and aged 20 months in a combination of Darnajou and Taransaud barrels, hit 14.5% natural alcohol. This wine shows the classic Pauillac nose of cedarwood, creme de cassis, licorice and fruitcake. Its gorgeous perfume of blueberries, blackberries, camphor, licorice, and pain grille is followed by an inky/blue/purple-colored wine offering superb purity, full-bodied richness, and gorgeous depth as well as texture. Bid on this magnum of 2004 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (96RP, 95WE, 94CG, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The two flagship wines of this brilliant estate, which straddles the Sonoma and Napa county lines at the top of Spring Mountain, include the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot). Sixty-eight percent of the fruit comes from Sonoma and 32% from Napa. It exhibits classic notes of creme de cassis, licorice, cedarwood, incense and a hint of toasty oak in the background. Full-bodied, opulent, profound deep, rich and full with velvety edges, the tannin can be detected, but it is wonderfully integrated in this mountain-styled Cabernet. It continues Pride’s impressive track record with these special cuvees. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve can be drunk young or cellared for two decades or more. More nuances and complexity will undoubtedly emerge over the next 4-5 years. (RP)" (04/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Voerzio’s 2004 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata/Torriglione is a stunning effort. It bursts from the glass with soaring aromatics that lead to a beautifully articulated core of red fruit, sweet spices and mint that is buttressed by finessed, silky tannins that caress the palate. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo (96RP, 96VN, 92ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mascarello’s 2004 Barolo Monprivato is an explosive wine with an almost Pinot-like expression of purity in its fruit. This round, sweet Barolo is extremely primary at this stage, with tons of dense fruit that almost cover the wine’s tannins completely. Subtle overtones of roses and tar develop in the glass, rounding out this majestic wine. Monprivato is one of the world’s very finest values in collectible, age-worthy wine, and the 2004 is another classic in the making. I was blown away by this wine’s sheer balance and harmony, both of which are remarkable considering the wine’s age. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2034. (AG)" (10/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Jacquesson "Champs Cain" Avize Extra Brut Champagne (OWC - 96RP, 95VN, 93ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From vines planted in 1962, the single-vineyard Jacquesson 2004 Extra Brut Avize Champ Cain leads with an utterly remarkable nose. A greenhouse-like profusion of leafing and flowering things is imposed over sea breeze, with jasmine; musky narcissus; nose-prickling spice as if from some exotic orchid; iodine-tinged toasted shrimp shells; and toasted grain all pungently present and anticipating the elusive complexity delivered on a caressingly polished yet consummately refreshing and almost ethereally delicate palate. Over time, the sense of creaminess and the refinement of bubbles became more evident, along with a contrasting impression of enhanced piquancy, suggesting hops and lentil sprouts, all in the context of remarkable poise and transparency to nuance. The endlessly fascinating finish remains infectiously juicy and subtly

2004 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo (98VN, 97RP, (91-94ST), 90WS). Vinous: "The 2004 Barolo Cascina Francia boasts staggering depth and explosive intensity from the very first taste. One of the most brooding, backward 2004s, the Cascina Francia is one of the only wines in this vintage that I am slightly disappointed to have opened, as it is so intensely backward. Hints of sage, tobacco, menthol, rose petal and graphite open up in the glass, recalling just how mesmerizing the 2004 was in cask. At once silky, while at other times virile, the 2004 Cascina Francia is constantly changing in the glass. The multiple shades of nuance and complexity are those of Nebbiolo from a great site as expressed by one of the region's historic families. The price of Monfortino has escalated rapidly over the last few years, but by comparison, the 2004 Cascina Francia is still available in the market and represents a good relative value. 2004 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne Rouge
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne Rouge (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Sweet Spot Outstanding* As one might reasonably expect, this is by far and away the most complex nose I have ever experienced with a so-called Bourgogne, revealing notes of red raspberry, spice, earth and violets that are followed by rich, classy and stylish flavors that possess a textured, pure and wonderfully refined finish that goes on and on. This is of top 1er quality and while the structure is supple, this clearly will age. Lalou Bize-Leroy took the most extraordinary step of declassifying all of her upper level wines to villages level, creating in the process the most striking examples that I have ever tasted for their respective appellations ..." Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 John Duval "Entity" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (95RP, 92WS). 95 points Robert Parker: "The 2004 Entity (100% Shiraz) is even more profound than the Plexus. Its opaque purple color is accompanied by a magical, sweet creme de cassis, blackberry, camphor, espresso roast, and subtle wood-scented perfume. A fabulous attack, voluptuous, full-bodied mid-palate, multi-layered texture and finish suggest this brilliant Shiraz should drink beautifully for 12-15+ years." (10/06) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Distinctive stuff, with a gamy edge to the vibrant blackberry and plum flavors, broad and generous, but not heavy. The Maiden is a touch less elegant; but it is such a wholesome wine, so succulent in blackberry, cassis, licorice, and roasted cedar. The tannins are so regal—even the slight prickle of acidity works for polish. So beautiful now, it’s hard to know when to suggest drinking it, but this should easily be a 10-15 year wine."
