1998 René Engel Vosne-Romanée
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 René Engel Vosne-Romanée. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A fully mature nose is displaying full-on secondary aromas with good spice and earth nuances adding additional complexity that the delicious and attractively vibrant middle weight flavors also display. There is good detail and a light touch of minerality to the largely resolved, balanced and lingering finish. For my taste this is drinking now as well as it's going to though with that said, there is no particular rush to drink up. In sum, this is a lovely villages Vosne." (12/2013)

1998 Paloma Napa Valley Merlot
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1998 Paloma Napa Valley Merlot. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I have been a longtime fan of the Merlot made by proprietor Jim Richards. While some may quibble over the elevated level of toasty new oak, the wine possesses the chocolate, black cherry, and currant fruit required to back up the wood. It is also full-bodied, ripe, long, and exotic. " (12/2000)

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Taittinger "Comtes de Champagne" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (95VN, 95WE, 94RP, 94WS, 93BH, 92W&S). Wine Enthusiast: "Possibly the most famous Blanc de Blancs, this continues to be a yardstick. The style almost floats, a layer of bubbles that rests gently in the mouth, releasing great flavors of very crisp fruits and a texture that hovers between green apples and minerality. This is a classic. (RV)" (01/2006)

1998 Domaine Jamet "Côte Brune" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Domaine Jamet "Côte Brune" Côte-Rôtie . The brown schist soils of the Côte Brune produce black-fruited, structured, tannic Syrahs with the hutzpah to last for decades. The Jamet brothers have an uncanny knack for turning these burly, concentrated grapes into wines that balance muscle with perfume and elegance. Known as staunch traditionalists, they ferment with whole clusters in stainless steel and use new oak very sparingly for aging. Robert Parker has heaped praise on the domaine: "One of my favorite Côte-Rôtie producers, Jamet is making splendidly concentrated wines that in the top vintages can last for several decades." (12/1992)

1998 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96WS, 95RP, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "One of the riper, more exotic wines of the vintage, this gushes with black currant, fig and blackberry fruit, all of which has melded together and is starting to show a corrupt edge, while the sweet bacon, spice, mesquite and clove-studded blood orange notes fill out the background. The long, very juicy finish is multilayered and supported by fresh acidity. Drink now through 2027. (JM)" (09/2007)

1998 Dalla Valle "PNV 2000 Lot 65" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Dalla Valle "PNV 2000 Lot 65" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon . The winery and vineyards are located on a plateau 400 feet above the valley floor, in the eastern hills of Oakville, Napa Valley. Dalla Valle has reached an admirable level of acceptance in the last decade and produces some of the most sought out Cabernet Sauvignon and proprietary red wine in California. Wines made from Dalla Valle Vineyards are pure unbridled expressions of fruit at its most powerful and concentrated. These wines are of immense stature and richness with well-integrated tannin and acidity."

1998 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this bottle of 1998 d'Yquem, Sauternes (95RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1998 Chateau Yquem was released several months ago. This estate does not allow tasting from cask (where the wine spends 42 months), and it is not released until five years after the vintage. The 1998 Yquem (95 points) is a great success. Made in an elegant style...It is well-delineated, with wonderfully sweet aromas of creme brulee, pineapples, apricots, and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, it is not as sweet as the biggest/richest Yquem vintages, but it is gorgeously pure, precise, and strikingly complex. Already approachable, it should evolve for 30-50 years without a doubt. (RP)" (10/2003)

Of the 1997 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Vinous writes: "The 1997 Opus One tastes like it was made yesterday, not 16 years ago. One of the most opulent, racy wines in this vertical, the 1997 literally explodes from the glass. Juicy dark red cherries, menthol, tobacco and licorice all make an appearance as the 1997 opens up over time. Readers holding the 1997 are in for a thrill. Even though the growing season was defined by hot weather, a short maturation cycle and a large crop, the wine turned out beautifully. In 1997 the blend is 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot, a first for Opus One. (AG)" (06/2013)

1998 R. Rostaing "Côte Blonde" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 1998 R. Rostaing "Côte Blonde" Côte-Rôtie (96RP, 94JG, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A masculine, ripe expression of Côte Rôtie, the 1998 Côte Rôtie Côte Blonde offers up tons of blackberry and cassis fruit to go with notions of smoked meats, iron and earth. Hitting the palate with blockbuster levels of concentration and a voluptuous, sexy texture, it still has a surprising amount of tannin that come through on the finish. Nevertheless, this is mature and drinking nicely. I would opt for drinking bottles over the coming decade or so. (JD)" (02/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru "Les Boudots" (89ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Red-ruby. Sappy aromas of currant, tar and game, plus an exotic whiff of quince. Very concentrated and chewy, with flavors of black fruits, violet, tar and roast coffee. Finishes with big, broad tannins. This may well merit a 90-point rating with five or six years of additional bottle aging." (04/2001)

1998 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (97WS, 96JS, 96RP, 94ST). Wine Spectator: "Dark color, with decadent aromas of truffles, meat, ripe berries and tobacco. Turns to sweet, crushed berries. Full-bodied, with very polished tannins and a berry and mineral aftertaste. The serious tannin structure is still hiding behind the fruit of the wine. Tightly wound and beautiful. Solid as a rock. A classic wine. (JS, Web Only-2009) "
