Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 2001 Rieussec, Sauternes (375ml) (100JS, 100WS, 95ST, 93RP). Wine Spectator: " *Collectibles and Wine of the Year 2004* Like lemon curd on the nose, turning to honey and caramel. Full-bodied and very sweet, with fantastic concentration of ripe and botrytized fruit, yet balanced and refined. Electric acidity. Lasts for minutes on the palate. This is absolutely mind-blowing. This is the greatest young Sauternes I have ever tasted. Best after 2010." (09/2004)

1996 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1996 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien (92RP, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This impressive wine is a classic. Although backward, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color in addition to abundant black currant fruit intertwined with spicy oak and truffle-like scents. The wine is brilliantly made, full-bodied, and tightly-structured with plenty of muscle and outstanding concentration and purity. It should turn out to be a long-lived Leoville Barton, and somewhat of a sleeper. However, patience will be required. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2030. (RP)" (04/1999)

1993 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1993 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac ((88-90RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pichon-Baron has performed brilliantly since 1988. How many Bordeaux estates, at any time this century, can boast that their vineyard produced a wine that was among the top dozen of the region in six consecutive vintages? The 1993 Pichon-Baron displays an impressive, nearly opaque dark ruby/purple color. The pure, sweet nose of smoky wood, combined with ripe cassis fruit and spices is moderately intense. Like most 1993s containing a large percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pichon-Baron is formidably tannic and structured, but also impressively extracted and rich. While it will not possess the pure sweetness of fruit and awesome concentration of the 1989 and 1990, it is a noteworthy success for the vintage. It will require 6-7 years of cellaring and last for 20 years." (02/1995)

1990 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (99RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This magnificent Lynch Bages has been drinking well since the day it was released and it continues to go from strength to strength. The biggest, richest, fullest-bodied Lynch Bages until the 2000, the fully mature 1990 exhibits an unbelievably explosive nose of black currants, cedarwood, herbs and spice. The majestic, classically Bordeaux aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, voluptuously textured, rich, intense wine with superb purity as well as thrilling levels of fruit, glycerin and sweetness. This beauty should continue to provide immense pleasure over the next 15+ years. (RP)" (08/2011)

1990 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1990 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (98RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In terms of the brilliant complexity and nobility of the aromatics, scorched earth, black currants, plums, charcoal, cedar, and spices, the 1990 offers an aromatic explosion that is unparalleled. It is always fascinating to taste this wine next to the 1989, which is a monumental effort, but much more backward and denser, without the aromatic complexity of the 1990. The 1990 put on weight after bottling, and is currently rich, full-bodied, opulent, even flamboyant by Haut Brion’s standards. It is an incredible expression of a noble terroir in a top vintage. While it has been fully mature for a number of years, it does not reveal any bricking at the edge, and I suspect it will stay at this level for another 10-15 years ... but why wait? It is irresistible now. (RP)" (06/2009)

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2009 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (OWC - 98RP, 97JS, 94ST, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A dense ruby/purple-tinged color offers up notes of forest floor, subtle wood smoke, mulberries, black cherries, cassis and a hint of lead pencil shavings. There is even a floral component lurking in the intricate aromatic profile. The wine is medium to full-bodied with wonderful intensity that builds incrementally and has a long, silky, luscious finish. There is plenty of tannin, but it is largely concealed by the wine’s beautiful fruit and ethereal complexity. Given its virtually perfect balance, this brilliant Haut-Bailly should age effortlessly for 3-4 decades. This is a tour de force in winemaking, particularly for readers seeking the quintessential example of a Bordeaux that combines compelling complexity and finesse with significant flavor authority and intensity. I suppose we could see this coming as American owner, Robert Wilmers, along

1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (98RP, 96AG, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A massive wine that is clearly of first-growth quality in this vintage, the 1982 Gruaud Larose remains a youngster. A broodingly dense, thick, unctuously textured, inky/plum/garnet/purple color offers up scents of beef blood, steak tartare, cassis, herbs, tobacco, and underbrush. One of the most concentrated wines of the vintage (as well as one of the most concentrated Bordeaux’s I have ever tasted), it is a huge, full-bodied, weighty, rich wine whose tannins are getting silkier and silkier. It appears set for another 30-40 years of life. This behemoth is a singularly profound example of Gruaud Larose that continues to justify its legendary status. Anticipated maturity: now-2050. It is certainly powerful, but already the shape is finalized, with its plums and berries settling down with perfumes, acidity, just enough tannins and a warm, welcoming richness. A great argument for the superiority of 2001 over 2000." (12/2007)

It is followed by thick, rich, moderately tannic flavors that exhibit medium to full body, good structure, outstanding purity, and a classically layered, long, pure finish. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Like many of its peers, the 1998 has filled out spectacularly. Now in the bottle, this opaque black/purple-colored offering has increased in stature, richness, and size. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc (57% of the production was utilized), it is an extremely powerful, super-concentrated wine offering notes of roasted espresso, creme de cassis, smoke, new saddle leather, graphite, and licorice. It is massive, with awesome concentration, mouth-searing tannin levels, and a saturated flavor profile that grips the mouth with considerable intensity. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Bahans de Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (91RP, 90ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Bahans Haut-Brion is fully mature, but I had indicated that back in 2003, giving it an anticipated maturity date of 2005-2016. Its smoky, soft berry fruit and notes of fresh porcini mushrooms intermixed with cigar tobacco and black currants are complex. This complexity is followed by a fleshy, elegant, silky wine... Haut-Brion can be among the trickiest Bordeaux to taste young, often needing a full decade before the extraordinary complexity that marks this terroir begins to emerge. I was thrilled to see how well both the second wine, Bahans Haut-Brion, and Haut-Brion performed in this tasting, and both scores are slight upgrades. (RP)" (06/2010)

Here it retains that enticing tobacco-infused nose with leather and a touch of thyme, the palate beautifully balanced with tarry black fruit, vibrant acidity, mellow and supple with a touch of game coming through. Supple with firm tannins marrying naturally on the finish that has the texture (though not alcohol!) of a tawny port. I suspect this has not intention of ameliorating further and alongside the 1983, these are the Pichon Lalande’s to start depleting in your cellar. Drink now-2018. Tasted January 2010. Showing slightly better than I rated it previously, this wine is deep bluish/purple with some lightening at the edge, and its floral nose displays notes of melted licorice, crushed rock, blueberries and black raspberries. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (95JS, 95RP, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled in June, 1997, this profound Mouton is more accessible than the more muscular 1996. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 19% Merlot, it reveals an opaque purple color, and reluctant aromas of cassis, truffles, coffee, licorice, and spice. In the mouth, the wine is 'great stuff,' with superb density, a full-bodied personality, rich mid-palate, and a layered, profound finish that lasts for 40+ seconds. There is outstanding purity and high tannin, but my instincts suggest this wine is lower in acidity and slightly fleshier than the brawnier, bigger 1996. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. The tannins are elevated, but they are sweet and beautifully integrated as are the acidity, wood and alcohol (which must be in excess of 14%). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 has taken forever to shed its formidable tannins, but what a great vintage of Lynch Bages! I would rank it at the top of the pyramid... Its dense purple color reveals a slight lightening at the edge and the stunning bouquet offers classic notes of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, oak and graphite. Powerful and rich with some tannins still to shed at age 22, it is still a young adolescent in terms of its evolutionand will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring. It should prove to be a 50 year wine. (RP)" (08/2011)

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2005 Giscours, Margaux (95JS, 95WE, 93WS, 92CG, 91RP, 91ST). Wine Enthusiast: "This chateau gets better and better. The wine has power, but it is harnessed by the intense fruits, the blackberry flavors, the density and the wood. With the power, though, comes elegance, resulting in a wine that is ready to develop over many years." (06/2008)

2010 Fleur Cardinale, St-Emilion
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2010 Fleur Cardinale, St-Emilion (95RP, 94ST, 93JS, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dense ruby/purple, it tips the scales at 15% natural alcohol and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Full-bodied in texture, it offers up loads of blueberry, blackberry and raspberry fruit intermixed with some cedar, vanilla and a touch of spring flowers. Impressively built, with good acidity and light tannin, this is a superb example of wine that reaches its prime in 3 or 4 years and lasts two decades. It's right up there with their brilliant 2005. 1980 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1980 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mouton-Rothschild can often be the most dramatic and flamboyant wine of the Medoc. The heavy reliance on Cabernet Sauvignon with tiny quantities of Merlot and Cabernet Franc in the 185-acre vineyard tends to produce powerful, nearly opaque purple wines that taste remarkably well young but close up quickly, with the wine's tannin dominating the fruit for 10-15 or more years." 1982 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1982 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (96RP, 93JS, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1982 is still 5-8 years away from full maturity, but it exhibits a dense ruby/plum/garnet color to the rim as well as a sweet perfume of forest floor, spice box, cedar, and copious quantities of black fruits. Medium to full-bodied and beautifully pure with sweet tannins, this wine has aged more slowly than I initially expected. It is the finest Ducru Beaucaillou produced after the 1961 and before the 2003. (RP)" (06/2009)

1996 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1996 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (96RP, 95ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Pichon-Lalande is just as awesome from bottle as it was from multiple cask tastings... The color is a saturated ruby/purple. The nose suggests sweet, nearly overripe Cabernet Sauvignon, with its blueberry/blackberry/cassis scents intermixed with high quality, subtle, toasty new oak. Deep and full-bodied, with fabulous concentration and a sweet, opulent texture... (RP)" (04/1999)

Wine Enthusiast: " *Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2013* A hugely powerful wine, full of dark, brooding tannins. It's a wine for seriously long-term aging, a sculptural vision of classic Bordeaux structure with with classy, ripe blackberry fruits. It has fresh acidity and an immense full-bodied character, cut through with mineral acidity. A great wine, with great potential. (RV)" (03/2013)

1996 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (93RP, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 exhibits a dark plum/ruby/purple color that is just beginning to lighten at the edge, surprisingly velvety tannins and a classic Pauillac bouquet of lead pencil shavings, cedarwood, black currants, sweet cherries and spice box. This medium to full-bodied, elegant, savory, broad wine is still five years away from full maturity. It should continue to drink well for another 10-15 years. (RP)" (08/2011)

2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (1.5L) (95RP, 94JS, 94WE, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the stars of the vintage, and a remarkable achievement in 2008, with impressive richness, this dense purple colored wine is almost as opaque as the 2010. Spring flowers, crushed rocks, creme de cassis and some subtle oak are followed by a full-bodied, concentrated wine that transcends the vintage character in its power, richness, and aging potential. It also exhibits tremendous precision, purity, and depth of character. It is more forward than the 2010 is likely to be, but probably not as sumptuous as the 2009 will turn out to be. This is a wine to buy. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2035. 95+ (RP)" (05/2011)
