1965 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1965 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac. One of the rarest vintages, the 1965 Mouton Rothschild features the artwork of Dorothea Tanning. Mouton-Rothschild, always in the forefront of the greatest wines of Bordeaux, was the first estate to begin complete chateau-bottling of the harvest -- a historic step initiated in 1924 by the late Philippe de Rothschild. It is the only chateau in the Classification of 1855 to achieve reclassification. In 1973, it was finally moved from a second growth to a first.

1999 & 2004 Bordeaux Tasting Lot
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 & 2004 Bordeaux Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 1999 La Conseillante, Pomerol and 1-bottle of 2004 Lascombes, Margaux (93RP, 91ST, 90W&S). Of the 2004 Lascombes, Margaux,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Another brilliant effort from this estate, the 2004 Lascombes (a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot) exhibits a deep blue/purple hue along with a sweet perfume of blueberries, black raspberries, cherries, incense, smoke, and spring flowers. While opulent, underneath the full-bodied richness of fruit and depth is a structured wine. As it sits in the glass, an espresso roast character (no doubt from new oak) also emerges. Enjoy this pure, structured, fleshy beauty between 2010-2025. (RP)" (06/2007)

1986 Gruaud Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1986 Gruaud Larose, St-Julien (96RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still tasting as if it were only 7-8 years of age, the dense, garnet/purple-colored 1986 Gruaud-Larose is evolving at a glacier pace. The wine still has mammoth structure, tremendous reserves of fruit and concentration, and a finish that lasts close to a minute. The wine is massive, very impressively constituted, with still some mouth-searing tannin to shed. Decanting of one to two hours in advance seems to soften it a bit, but this is a wine that seems to be almost immortal in terms of its longevity. It is a great Medoc classic, and certainly one of the most magnificent Gruaud-Larose ever made. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2035. (RP)" (01/2003)

1990 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Montrose, St-Estèphe (100RP, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The final blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc was harvested between September 14 and October 3. The spring was cold, yet summer was extremely hot and dry – one of the hottest vintages since 1949. The fact that virtually no rain fell in September served as a catalyst to get all the grapes ripe and in cellars....This wine has an incredibly complex nose of spring flowers, blackberry and cassis liqueur, scorched earth and barbecue spice. It is full-bodied, majestic and opulent, with low acidity and fabulous fruit. It is close to full maturity. The wine should continue to drink well for at least another 30 or more years, but it is showing secondary nuances in the perfume. The wine is absolutely magnificent, broad, savory and mouth-filling. This is one of the all-time modern legends from Bordeaux as well as Chateau Montrose." (08/2014)

1989 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (99RP, 96WS, 95ST, 94JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 has taken forever to shed its formidable tannins, but what a great vintage of Lynch Bages! I would rank it at the top of the pyramid... Its dense purple color reveals a slight lightening at the edge and the stunning bouquet offers classic notes of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, oak and graphite. Powerful and rich with some tannins still to shed at age 22, it is still a young adolescent in terms of its evolutionand will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring. It should prove to be a 50 year wine. (RP)" (08/2011)

It is the only chateau in the Classification of 1855 to achieve reclassification. In 1973, it was finally moved from a second growth to a first. The 1967 label features the artwork of César Baldaccini. Clive Coates: "Medium to medium-full colour. Mature but not unduly so. The nose is beginning to lighten up a little but there is good depth and class underneath nevertheless. Medium body, soft, fragrant. Attractive fruit. Good acidity. Never a wine of great concentration, and without the breed of Latour 1967, but definitely a success." Tasted 1990 - (Grand Vins, the Finest Châteaux of Bordeaux and their Wines, pg 71)

1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes (99RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An extraordinary effort, Yquem's 1990 is a rich and fabulously superb, sweet wine. This wine also possesses lots of elegance and finesse. The wine's medium gold color is accompanied by an exceptionally sweet nose of honeyed tropical fruits, peaches, coconut, and apricots. High quality, subtle toasty oak is well-integrated. The wine is massive on the palate, with layers of intensely ripe botrytis-tinged, exceptionally sweet fruit. Surprisingly well-integrated acidity, and a seamless, full-bodied power and richness have created a wine of remarkable harmony and purity. Certainly it is one of the richest Yquems I have ever tasted, with 50-100 years of potential longevity. An awesome Yquem! Anticipated maturity: 2003-2050+. (RP)" (04/1999)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (98RP, 95WS, 94ST, 94W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, this wine represents only 34% of Lafite's total harvest. In a less than perfect Medoc vintage, it has been spectacular since birth, putting on more weight and flesh over the last year. This opaque purple-colored 1998 is close to perfection. The spectacular nose of lead pencil, smoky, mineral, and black currant fruit soars majestically from the glass. The wine is elegant yet profoundly rich, revealing the essence of Lafite's character. The tannin is sweet, and the wine is spectacularly layered yet never heavy. The finish is sweet, super-rich, yet impeccably balanced and long (50+ seconds). Anticipated maturity: 2007-2035. 1989 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this bottle of 1989 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (100RP, 97ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Both La Mission-Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion hit home runs in this vintage, which did not produce as many profound wines as the Bordeaux publicity machine suggested. 1989, the 200th anniversary of the French revolution, was an incredibly hot year (surpassed only by 1990 and 2003). Even from barrel the seamless 1989 La Mission revealed a special elixir aspect, tasting like it had been designed by Chanel. It still possesses a blue/purple color with only a hint of garnet creeping in, and the explosive aromatics offer up notes of licorice, creme de cassis, blueberry liqueur, smoky barbecue meats, truffles and graphite. If that’s not enough to get one salivating, the palate has never disappointed either. Full-bodied with extraordinary opulence as well as sweet, well-integrated, velvety tannins, this fresh, lively, blockbuster La Mission appears to be one of those rare wines tha

Yquem produced its greatest wine since the twin titans of 1975 and 1976. Medium golden, with a big, opulent, honeyed, oaky, flowery, tropical fruit bouquet, this wine is rich and concentrated, has very good acidity, a lot of botrytis, and a stunning finish. 1986 Climens, Barsac (375ml)
Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 1986 Climens, Barsac (375ml) (96RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A totally compelling Climens and to my mind, every bit as good as the 1988, the 1986 is probably the best Climens made since their spectacular 1971. It is still light gold in color, with an expansive bouquet of new oak, oranges, pineapples, and other tropical fruits. In the mouth, the great richness seems all the more impressive because of the wine's remarkable clarity and definition. There is as much botrytis in the 1986 as in the 1988. Despite the intensity and extract levels, this sweet wine comes across as crisp and relatively light. The 1986 is a stunning example of Climens at its very best. Anticipated maturity: 1994-2010. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "(94+ points): The 2012 Rauzan-Ségla (54.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 1.5% Petit Verdot) is a classic Rauzan-Ségla, still relatively backward and tannic, but concentrated and extremely promising. Dense blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit along with some licorice, vanilla, foresty notes and spice are all present in this full-bodied yet structured and big, beefy style of Rauzan-Ségla . It may turn out to be somewhat atypical for this château in its size and masculine structure, but this is impressive wine, and one of the great successes of the vintage. Full-bodied and powerful, extremely rich and dense, it may be the least evolved 1988. The nose offers enticing coconut, orange, vanilla, and honeyed scents. The flavors are highly extracted. 1973 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1973 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac. Chris Kissack's TheWineDoctor.com: "Phillippe Rothschild called it '...the monstrous injustice' of Mouton's second growth status. For years the labels stated simply 'Premier ne puis, second ne daigne, Mouton suis,' or 'First I cannot be, second I do not deign to be, I am Mouton'. It was clear from the great vintages produced in the 1860s and 1870s that the 1855 classification was already outdated, and that change was long overdue. But no such review of this classification will ever take place, and it was only thanks to the tireless campaigning of Philippe that Jacques Chirac, then Minister of Agriculture, passed a decree conferring the status of first growth upon Mouton-Rothschild in 1973. At last the wrong had been righted, and from then on Mouton's labels bore a new inscription, 'Premier je suis, second je fus. Mouton ne change,' or 'First I am, second I was. Mouton does not change'."

It is an exceptionally powerful wine with a dense purple color, superb intensity, and a beautiful, sweet nose of spring flowers, raspberries, blueberries, graphite, and creme de cassis. Full-bodied with fabulous concentration, exceptionally high tannin, good acidity, and massive layers of richness that build incrementally on the palate, this monumental effort is more structured than their outstanding 2003. It may be the finest wine produced at this estate since the 1982 and 1961 Ducrus. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2050. (RP)" (04/2008)

1996 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (100RP, 96ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted three times since bottling, the 1996 Lafite-Rothschild is unquestionably this renowned estate's greatest wine... This massive wine may be the biggest, largest-scaled Lafite I have ever tasted. It will require many years to come around, so I suspect all of us past the age of fifty might want to give serious consideration as to whether we should be laying away multiple cases of this wine. It is also the first Lafite-Rothschild to be put into a new engraved bottle (designed to prevent fraudulent imitations). The wine exhibits a thick-looking, ruby/purple color, and a knock-out nose of lead pencil, minerals, flowers, and black currant scents. Extremely powerful and full-bodied, with remarkable complexity for such a young wine, this huge Lafite is oozing with extract and richness, yet has managed to preserve its quintessentially elegant personality. This wine is even rich

Of the 1988 Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Sauternes (375ml),Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The massively rich, yet fresh, lively 1988 offers a compelling, flowery, honeyed bouquet of vanilla custard, buttery orange/apricot scents, and smoky ceme brulee. The wine's zesty acidity brings everything into extraordinary clarity. With plenty of botrytis evident, this is a full-bodied, super-concentrated, fascinating, powerful yet elegant Sauternes that will age beautifully for 25-30 years. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2030. This full-bodied classic boasts a dense purple color as well as a superb nose of graphite, creme de cassis, forest floor, licorice and a hint of truffles, low acidity, and extravagant richness. 1971 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1971 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine, which was a medium-weight, charming example in its youth, continues to develop well. Recent bottles have been the finest I have tasted of the 1971 Mouton-Rothschild. The color remains a deep dark garnet with some amber at the edge. The wine offers up a classic Pauillac nose of cedar, black currants, and lead pencil aromas. On the palate, it reveals a savory, sweet, cedary, currant flavor profile with good freshness, adequate acidity, and ripe tannin. (RP)" (01/1998)
