1978 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1978 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (92RP, 92WS). Wine Spectator: "Fully mature, with a slightly juicy feel to the cedar, singed vanilla, blood orange, clove, tobacco, dried currant and cherry fruit flavors. Long, fine-grained tannins let an echo of iron linger. Not fully ripe, but everything has melded elegantly with time. (JM, Web-2014)"

1986 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1986 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien (91RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still backward (frustratingly so), this wine shows a very dark ruby color with a hint of pink at the rim. The aromatics are beginning to emerge from just pure fruit-driven notes to secondary characteristics. Sweet earth, truffle, black currant, underbrush, and licorice emerge with coaxing. In the mouth, the wine is powerful, dense, with high tannin., impressive concentration, and a formidable, sort of old-style personality. The best 1986 Medocs are terrific wines, but have never been wines that show a lot of charm. Like so many of its siblings from the Medoc, one admires the wines more than actually enjoys them,. I still have high hopes that everything will come together. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2030. (RP)" (01/2003)

1975 Petrus, Pomerol (375ml)
Bid on this half-bottle lot of 1975 Petrus, Pomerol (375ml) (98RP, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most rustic and powerful Petrus of the last 25 years, this wine still has a murky garnet/plum/purple color, a gorgeous nose of overripe black cherries, mocha, caramel, chocolate, and a hint of iron and blood. Full-bodied, super-concentrated, with massive tannin and extract, this behemoth Petrus can be enjoyed but still seems another 5-10 years away from maturity. It is certainly a 50-70 year wine, with exquisite concentration and intensity, but seemingly the rough edges will no doubt be less appealing to those looking for pure seamlessness. Perhaps that will emerge with bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2040. (Bordeaux Book 4th Edition) (RP)" (01/2003)

2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (375ml)
Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (375ml) (98RP, 97JS, 96WE, 96WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Performing even better from bottle than it did from barrel, this appears to be the finest Lynch Bages since the 2000, 1990 and 1989. According to the chateau, the 2009 has the highest level of polyphenols ever measured as well as high alcohol (nearly 13.5%). A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest largely Merlot with touches of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it is an expressive, voluptuously textured effort with unctuosity and powerful, juicy, succulent blackberry and black currant flavors, low acids, a layered, massive mouthfeel, but no sense of heaviness or fatigue. This exquisite Lynch Bages should drink well for 30+ years. (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (375ml) (100RP, 98JS, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years ... 1990 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (94ST, 90JS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red with a pale rim. Knockout nose of aromatic herbs, strawberry, sweet spices and acacia flower; yet another wine strongly marked by its Cabernet Franc presence. Fresh and vibrant, this absolutely dances on the palate with strawberry, sour red cherry and raspberry flavors complicated by gunflint and herbs. High acidity provides great clarity and cut to the long, floral, smoothly tannic finish. This has improved considerably with bottle age. Harvested from September 18 through October 3, this Mouton offers amazing balance and fragrance. In 1990 Mouton was still using a heavy toast for its barriques, which resulted in a smoky quality in the wines that was considered by many to be just as typical of Mouton as its opulence. Wine Spectator: "A fleshy, inviting style, with lots of crushed fig and steeped blackberry fruit woven with warmed cocoa and pain d'épices, all backed by a distinctly racy graphite note. Stays fleshy through the finish without being heavy. Best from 2013 through 2028. (JM)" (03/2012)

Of the 2005 Climens, Barsac,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Château Climens just soars from the glass with layers of clear honey, marmalade, nectarine and minerals all beautifully carved. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh, vibrant honeyed fruit that builds and builds in the mouth in tandem with a killer line of acidity. Even though it is a convincing, great Climens, you also have the impression that it is only just beginning to show what it is capable of. Bérénice Lurton and her team excelled in this vintage and it comes strongly recommended. (NM)" (06/2015)

1998 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (94W&S, 93ST, 91JS, 91WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Very deep saturated ruby. Archetypical Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated nose offers fresh blackcurrant, lead pencil and flowers complicated by strong spice notes. Bright and juicy on entry, with very pure flavors of dark berries, underbrush and dried herbs, then slightly austere and linear in the middle palate. Finishes with a lingering saline nuance and very good length. A very refined and impeccably balanced Mouton, but I would have liked a little bit more concentration and opulence for an even higher score. This classic Mouton possesses relatively high acidity and a solid tannic structure; it offers early accessibility but should age effortlessly for another 15 or 20 years. 93+ (ID)" (08/2011)

Complex and full-bodied, with hints of new oak and wonderfully polished tannins that caress the palate. Long, long finish. This is not the blockbuster it was from barrel, but rather a complete, balanced and gorgeous red. Best after 2015. (JS)" (06/2008)

Full-bodied, with ultrapolished tannins and a silky mouthfeel. The palate turns to leaves, cedar and dried berries on the finish, which goes on and on. This is still reserved for the vintage, suggesting a long life ahead. Just coming around now, but will improve many years ahead. I have always loved this Lynch. (JS, Web-2010)"

2000 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 2000 Margaux, Margaux (100JS, 100RP, 98ST, 98W&S, 98WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Absolutely compelling in two tastings of this vintage, the 2000 Margaux is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. The extraordinary seductiveness, complex aromatics, and purity it exhibits lead me to believe it has reached its window of full maturity. Medium-bodied, with layers of concentration, stunning blue, red, and black fruits intermixed with spring flowers, a subtle dosage of new oak, and a distinctive personality that is elegant while at the same time powerful and substantial, this is a multi-dimensional wine that was extremely approachable and drinkable in both tastings I had of it. The color remains a healthy, even opaque bluish/purple, but there is no reason to hesitate to drink it. It should evolve for another 30-40 years, so there is no hurry either. (RP)" (06/2010)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A spectacular effort, especially for this challenging vintage, Olivier Bernard’s 2011 Domaine de Chevalier boasts a dense ruby/purple color as well as a big, sweet bouquet of subtle charcoal, graphite, black currants and black cherries. Rich and full-bodied with a multilayered mouthfeel and a long, complex, stunning finish, this is a profound example of a 2011 from a great terroir. Consume it over the next 20 years. This is one of the most exciting young reds I have tasted in a long, long time. It shows intense aromas of berries, currants and minerals, with hints of mint. Full-bodied and packed with fruit and tannins, its long finish is refined and silky. A benchmark for the vintage. 2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (OWC)
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (OWC - 98RP, 97JS, 96WE, 96WS, 93ST, 93VN) in original wood.

The wine exhibits extreme richness of the fruit, with all its sweet blackberry flavors. It also has underlying firm structure, density and solid tannins. Bring in the acidity at the end, and this is both impressive and ready for long-term aging. (RV)" (02/2012)

1989 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (98JS, 96WS, 90RP). James Suckling: "Freshly picked blackberries turn into minty dark chocolate and oozing caramel with domineering eucalyptus on the nose. It becomes yet more complex on the palate thanks to layers upon layers of spices and sage plus fat and rounded tannins. There's a long finish with a bitter aftertaste, suggesting this could do with another 10 years or more of bottle aging. This is a Mouton I found massive at the time, then elegant and slightly austere years later, but today true to its former glory. Like the amazing 1947, it should not be forgotten." (06/2016)

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2008 de Fieuzal, Pessac-Léognan (OWC - 92RP, 90JS, 90ST, 90WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A big time sleeper of the vintage and a terrific success for Fieuzal, the 2008 is a wine to buy given its realistic price. Dense plum/purple-colored with a soaring bouquet of blue and black fruits, unsmoked cigar tobacco, lead pencil shavings and spring flowers, it is a suave, savory, medium to full-bodied, remarkably silky, appealing wine to enjoy over the next 12-15 years. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sleeper of the vintage, the 2008 Pichon Longueville Baron is one of the densest, most concentrated wines of Pauillac in 2008. An inky/purple color is followed by aromas and flavors of creme de cassis, blackberries, charcoal, coffee and licorice. Exceptionally full-bodied with velvety tannins and undeniable appeal, this gorgeous, well-proportioned, larger than life 2008 should age effortlessly for two decades or more. (RP)" (05/2011)

Ripe black fruits dominate, lending fullness to the firm structure in the backdrop. It’s a wine with great potential, density and weight. Touches of chocolate and licorice combine with flavors of dark plum, toast and spice. Drink from 2018. (RV)" (02/2014)

This full-bodied classic boasts a dense purple color as well as a superb nose of graphite, creme de cassis, forest floor, licorice and a hint of truffles, low acidity, and extravagant richness. Most of the tannins have been resolved in this superstar of the vintage. It should continue to drink well for 10-15+ years. 95+ (RP)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2008 Saint-Pierre, St-Julien (OWC - 93RP, 93WE, 91ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I predicted from barrel, this stunning effort is a wine to buy by the case. Its opaque ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of graphite, barbecue smoke, blackberries and black currants. The full-bodied, textured 2008 Saint-Pierre reveals a skyscraper-like mouthfeel along with tremendous viscosity and unctuosity. One of the richest and potentially longest-lived 2008s, it is a fabulous sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next 20+ years. (RP)" (05/2011)

2000 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 2000 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (97WE, 96RP, 95ST, 93JS, 93WS). Wine Enthusiast: "With its distinctive antique bottle and gold etched label dominated by a sheep, this is definitely a move away from classic Bordeaux bottling. It is good that the wine can support the presentation. The fruit is so ripe, it almost tastes of raisins, but that sweetness is finely balanced by the dry tannins and concentrated texture. To finish, there are exotic spices, giving an almost oriental character to the long aftertaste. " (06/2003)

2008 Pavie-Decesse, St-Emilion (OWC)
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2008 Pavie-Decesse, St-Emilion (OWC - 94JS, 94RP, 92ST, 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another top-notch effort, the 2008 is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc produced from yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare. It reached 14% natural alcohol, no doubt because of the extremely late harvest. A deep purple color is accompanied by massive notes of blackberries, incense, fruitcake, camphor and toasty oak intermixed with a crushed chalk-like minerality (a hallmark of this vineyard). The wine has softened considerably in bottle, and while it seems more structured than the 2010, it reveals a degree of accessibility. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2035. 94+ Points (RP)" (05/2011)

2010 Sociando-Mallet, Haut-Médoc (OWC)
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2010 Sociando-Mallet, Haut-Médoc (OWC - 92ST, 91RP) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright red-ruby. Pungent, expressive nose offers black raspberry, blueberry, bitter chocolate, leather and flowers. Densely packed, juicy and sweet, with excellent inner-mouth energy to the black raspberry and mineral flavors complicated by sexy smoky oak. Lovely ripeness and vinosity here. Finishes with substantial firm tannins that will support a couple decades of graceful evolution in bottle. Like some past outstanding vintages of Sociando-Mallet, this will make a great ringer in future tastings with classified growers from the northern Medoc. (ST)" (08/2013)

With aromas of violets, minerals, spices, cool stones, mint, dark fruits, and plum skins, this is beautiful. Very much still a baby right now, it needs much more time. This is a wine for the next generation. Finesse and elegance, truly a wine that makes you contemplate life. This is not about power, there is really nothing like it. 93% Cabernet Sauvignon. Do not even think about touching this for another ten years, 2020. " (02/2011)
