1994 Fonseca Vintage Port
Bid on this bottle of 1994 Fonseca Vintage Port (100WS, 97RP). Wine Spectator: "(1997 Wine of the Year & Cellar Selection) Hold on to your hat. This is the best Fonseca since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage--more like the breathtaking 1948. Mind-blowing, with masses of color, aroma and fruit flavor. Smells like fermenting berries, boasting loads of crushed grape, violet and berry character. Big, full-bodied and very sweet, with tons of tannins and a sweet finish. Tannic and huge, it's a long-term, great Port. " (04/1997)

1997 Romariz Vintage Port (375ml)
Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 1997 Romariz Vintage Port (375ml) (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An exceptional vintage port, this saturated purple/black-colored effort offers up sweet, jammy notes of blackberries, licorice, and spice. Full-bodied, rich, and moderately sweet, with huge amounts of glycerin, ripeness, and well-integrated tannin, this blockbuster port can be drunk young, but should evolve nicely for 15-20 years. A sleeper as well as an excellent value. (RP)" (01/2000)

1985 Fonseca Vintage Port
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1985 Fonseca Vintage Port (96DC, 93RP, 93WS). Decanter: "A troublesome vintage for many shippers, but Fonseca 1985 never fails to impress: tight-knit, dense and minty with a core of concentration and pure berry fruit. Succulent, wonderfully fresh and vibrant at 30 years old. Peacock’s tail of a finish. A real ‘wow’ of a wine that promises to last a lifetime. (RM)" (11/2015)

2003 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K The Noble Man" Chardonnay (375ml) (OWC)
Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2003 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K The Noble Man" Chardonnay (375ml) (OWC - (95-96ST), 94RP) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium gold. Knockout nose offers pure botrytis aromas of orange oil, apricot, clove, marzipan, chocolate and mocha. Extraordinarily thick and honeyed but with bracing acids leavening the flavors of marzipan, coconut, brown sugar and orange rind. Higher-toned than the gewurztraminer, with a spirity suggestion of Gran Marnier. Krankl was about to bottle this. I have rarely tasted such thoroughly botrytized chardonnay." (07/2005)

2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml)
Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml) (100RP, 94WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Alvear’s 2011 Pedro Ximenez de Anada is the most amazing Pedro Ximenez I have ever tasted. It may also be one of the first to be vintage-dated. The grapes were hand-harvested in September, then allowed to dry in the sunshine until they began fermentation, which is ultimately arrested by the addition of spirits. The wine spent six months in large American oak prior to being bottled. It is an amazing effort that looks like molasses. Notes of macerated figs, chocolate and caramelized tropical fruits emerge from this full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine. While sweet, it has enough acidity to balance out its richness. This astonishing 2011 Pedro Ximenez will last as long as any reader of this newsletter. (RP)" (11/2013)

1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes (99RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An extraordinary effort, Yquem's 1990 is a rich and fabulously superb, sweet wine. This wine also possesses lots of elegance and finesse. The wine's medium gold color is accompanied by an exceptionally sweet nose of honeyed tropical fruits, peaches, coconut, and apricots. High quality, subtle toasty oak is well-integrated. The wine is massive on the palate, with layers of intensely ripe botrytis-tinged, exceptionally sweet fruit. Surprisingly well-integrated acidity, and a seamless, full-bodied power and richness have created a wine of remarkable harmony and purity. Certainly it is one of the richest Yquems I have ever tasted, with 50-100 years of potential longevity. An awesome Yquem! Anticipated maturity: 2003-2050+. (RP)" (04/1999)

1988 Rieussec, Sauternes (375ml)
Bid on this 4-half-bottle lot of 1988 Rieussec, Sauternes (375ml) (93RP, 90ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1988 remains a very backward wine. Full-bodied and powerful, extremely rich and dense, it may be the least evolved 1988. The nose offers enticing coconut, orange, vanilla, and honeyed scents. The flavors are highly extracted. The wine's acidity and youthfulness suggest this wine needs another 5-10 years of cellaring. It should keep for 30 years. Last tasted 11/94. (RP)" (01/1998)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The staff at Cordier have every right to be happy with this splendidly concentrated, complex, fully mature wine. Tremendous intensity, viscous, ripe, and layered with honeyed, apricot-flavored fruit, this unctuous wine is not tiring or heavy to drink, but lively and effusively fruity. (RP)" (01/1998)

Of the 1988 Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Sauternes (375ml),Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The massively rich, yet fresh, lively 1988 offers a compelling, flowery, honeyed bouquet of vanilla custard, buttery orange/apricot scents, and smoky ceme brulee. The wine's zesty acidity brings everything into extraordinary clarity. With plenty of botrytis evident, this is a full-bodied, super-concentrated, fascinating, powerful yet elegant Sauternes that will age beautifully for 25-30 years. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2030. Of the 2003 Fonseca Vintage Port,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Saturated deep ruby. Brooding, reticent nose of cassis and kirsch; there's nothing cooked about this one! Then massive, sweet and superrich in the mouth; explodes with exotic ripeness. Intriguing note of graphite. This coats every nook and cranny of the palate and clings and builds on the back end in a way that no other wine of this vintage can match. Huge, sexy and wonderfully lush Fonseca, built for the long haul. As impressive as the best 2000s, and, along with the Quinta do Noval Nacional, is an early candidate for port of the 2003 vintage.
