NV Henriques & Henriques (H&H) 20 Year Old Terrantez Madeira
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of Henriques & Henriques (H&H) 20 Year Old Terrantez Madeira (98W&S, 93JG, 90RP). Wine & Spirits: "'This got my amazing,' said Mariko Kobayashi of Vintry Fine Wines in NYC. What amazed me was that two others of us on the panel, when we compared notes, had described the detailed scent of this wine in virtually the same terms: “Like a forest in bloom on the coast of the sea.” Or, “Standing on an island where you can smell the ocean spray. You can smell the trees, the woods, the forest.” It’s a form of over-the-top freshness that sets the wine apart, held boldly in relief by the voluptuous flavors. The richness layers memories of lemon curd, salted Marcona almonds, dried apricot and a savory note of bergamot tea. Operatic in scope, this is tight, elegant and silky in delivery. Sexy Madeira." Of the 2005 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K Straw Man" Marsanne Vin de Paille (375ml),Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: " ... This is one of the most singular sweet wines I have ever tasted. It rivals the great 2000 Suey that was made from Roussanne and ended up with 241 grams of residual sugar. The individualistic, prodigious sweet wines are the products of meticulous attention to detail, obsessive harvesting requirements, and amazing vinifications and upbringings. They are unbelievable elixirs, and this one is as complex and intense as any sweet wine made in the world. It is a fitting tribute to the genius of both Manfred Krankl and his late pa

1977 Fonseca Vintage Port
Bid on this bottle of 1977 Fonseca Vintage Port (100JS, 100WS, 95JG, 93RP). Wine Spectator: "What a Vintage Port. Dark ruby center, with a dark garnet edge. Aromas of flowers, blackberry and licorice. Subtle and complex. Wow. What a palate. Full, concentrated and rich, yet balanced and beautiful. Solid and sleepy. Still not giving all it has to give. This is just coming around. Gorgeous and classy. Love it. (JS, Web Only-2008)"

2006 Rieussec, Sauternes
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Rieussec, Sauternes (95WE, 93WS, 92RP). Wine Enthusiast: "Wonderful, evocative orange marmalade and ginger flavors play around this rich wine. Its botrytis dryness doesn't detract from the intense sweetness, ripe apricots, spice and deliciously refreshing acidity. The richness is in the texture, but the ripeness is in the open, generous fruit. (RV)" (03/2009)

1962 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this bottle of 1962 d'Yquem, Sauternes (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Fine Wine Experience 1962 Bordeaux horizontal. Moderate Clear lucid gold with green tints. The nose is very elegant and well defined, touches of wet wool, honey, wood resin and barley sugar (a la Barsac). I wish it had more vigour and complexity, for it is rather overwhelmed by the Coutet and the Suduiraut. The palate is far better than the nose with a lovely creamy, harmonious texture with perfect acidity and balance. Citrus peel, fresh ginger, dried apricot, ginger and orange sorbet with noticeable residual sugar on the finish. This is probably an underrated Yquem given market prices, but the modest nose means I must temper my appraisal. (NM)" (11/2010)

Of the 1970 Fonseca Vintage Port,Wine Spectator writes: "Some people may enjoy this wine's rather fat, rich and powerful fruit now, but I still find it too young for drinking. 2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml)
Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml) (100RP, 94WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Alvear’s 2011 Pedro Ximenez de Anada is the most amazing Pedro Ximenez I have ever tasted. It may also be one of the first to be vintage-dated. The grapes were hand-harvested in September, then allowed to dry in the sunshine until they began fermentation, which is ultimately arrested by the addition of spirits. The wine spent six months in large American oak prior to being bottled. It is an amazing effort that looks like molasses. Notes of macerated figs, chocolate and caramelized tropical fruits emerge from this full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine. While sweet, it has enough acidity to balance out its richness. This astonishing 2011 Pedro Ximenez will last as long as any reader of this newsletter. (RP)" (11/2013)

2006 Littorai "Lemon's Folly" Sonoma Coast White Wine (375ml)
Bid on this 4-half-bottle lot of 2006 Littorai "Lemon's Folly" Sonoma Coast White Wine (375ml). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(95% gewurztraminer with 5% sauvignon blanc, from Haven Vineyard fruit harvested late but without botrytis; done entirely in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation) Very pale color. Spicy aromas of smoked meat, cinnamon, candied ginger and rose petal; just this side of exotic. A very sweet (100+ g/l r.s.), fat spice bomb in the mouth, with creamy middle-palate flavors of peachy fruit salad, ginger and smoke framed by ripe acidity. An essentially soft wine that manages to finish with decent lift. This is just 9.5% alcohol. (ST)" (05/2007)

Of the 1970 Taylor Vintage Port,Wine Enthusiast writes: "This wine's dark garnet color with minimal bricking suggests a relatively youthful wine and this certainly could age longer, although it's also delicious now. Wonderfully complex floral and herbal scents easily move into deep, rich flavors of chocolate and cherries, sprinkled with a healthy dose of Douro minerality and spice. Drink or hold. 1996 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this bottle of 1996 d'Yquem, Sauternes (96WS, 95RP). Wine Spectator: "This leans toward the tropical side, with mango and guava notes out front, while maple, date, blood orange and citrus oil flavors fill in behind. The finish kicks into another gear, taking off with honeysuckle, orange blossom and frangipane accents. Has almost unbridled power today, while maintaining serious cut. A very impressive showing in a rather overlooked vintage. (JM, Web Only-2014)"
