1999 Domaine Carre-Courbin Volnay 1er Cru "Taillepieds"
Bid on this 7-bottle lot of 1999 Domaine Carre-Courbin Volnay 1er Cru "Taillepieds". Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe and moderately earthy nose that is now just beginning its gradual transition from primary to secondary aromas also evidences the same transition on the palate as well as the still firm flavors are now displaying secondary nuances, particularly on the mineral-infused finish where the tannins are evident in force. This is maturing more slowly than I originally envisioned and at present, this is a bit on the tough side and while certainly approachable, if you're going to give a bottle a shot now be sure to decant it for 45 minutes first. Multiple notes." (12/2007)

1999 Domaine Jean Grivot Richebourg Grand Cru (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1999 Domaine Jean Grivot Richebourg Grand Cru (1.5L) (95RP, 94BH, 93ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Richebourg Grand Cru from Grivot is a long-term wine. Even after 16 years the nose is deep, broody and has a sign outside saying 'come back later.' I would say around five years. But I think there is great potential here (incidentally, not a view shared by others present at this tasting). With aeration, it reluctantly reveals sage and light Japanese nori (seaweed) aromas that I believe will become more prominent with time. The palate is well balanced, quite dense and perhaps 'stocky,' but hey, this is Richebourg not RSV! Give this burly Richebourg several years and you will have a serious wine. (NM)" (11/2015)

1999 Michel Bonnefond (Roumier) Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Michel Bonnefond (Roumier) Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru (92BH, 92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red-ruby. Pungent red fruit aromas of cherry and raspberry, complicated by a note of coffee. Juicy and intensely flavored but tightly wrapped and much more closed than the Charmes. But this is more aromatic, denser and more impressively structured, with complicating notes of minerals and leather. Finishes with very firm tannins and terrific verve and style. (ST)" (03/2002)

1999 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Champans"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Champans" (93BH, 93JG). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "I clearly under rated this wine, not only in terms of its quality but also its longevity as it has evolved more slowly than I originally imagined. However this beauty is close to being ready for prime time with its elegant and pure nose that is just starting to display the first hints of secondary development with its ripe black pinot fruit and earth nuances. There is excellent richness and concentration to the utterly delicious and increasingly complex flavors that are supported by a still firm yet clearly softening tannic spine, all wrapped in a solidly powerful and impressively persistent finale. For my taste this is almost ready though I would suggest waiting for another 1 to 3 years first though I underscore that the '99 Champans will age gracefully for another 20 years, perhaps longer. Tasted twice in the last few months with similar results. In short,

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Sine Qua Non "Tarantella" California White Rhône Blend (95RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Krankl's 1999 Tarantella is one of the finest white wines he has made. It possesses outstanding underlying acidity, a terrific, citrusy, honeyed perfume (flower, mango, and tangerine aromas dominate) that roars from the glass, full body, and brilliant balance. 1999 Antonio Bernardo Paulo de Silva Tinto Reserva Colares Chitas
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 1999 Antonio Bernardo Paulo de Silva Tinto Reserva Colares Chitas. Colares is a small DOC on the the coast, northwest of Lisbon. It is one of Portugal's most ancient areas and is entirely planted on sand. Their vines are all original, ungrafted, and very old. The red grape in Colares is called Ramisco, which is grown nowhere else. From the sandy soils of Colares, Portugal, comes this light, delicate, spicy, and elegant wine. Its high acidity and aggressive tannins help Ramisco wines to mature beautifully (as we hope you will experience first hand with this 1999 Reserva bottling!), developing fine aromatic and flavor complexity. Ramisco wines are unique and rare: Phylloxera survivor before, in danger of extinction now. There are only three producers of this wine in this part of the world and the cultivated land is not larger than 50 acres.
