2001 Domaine Emmanuel Rouget Nuits-St-Georges
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Emmanuel Rouget Nuits-St-Georges. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is a very light ruby with earthy, pure and vibrant fresh Pinot fruit aromas and only a hint of rusticity followed by remarkably elegant and fine flavors that deliver good persistence. A lovely effort in a lighter style that is quite refined for villages level Nuits." (01/2003)

Medium to full-bodied, exceptionally concentrated, with great definition and zestiness, this impressive effort should have 20-25 years of longevity. (RP)" (04/2003)

2001 La Tour Blanche, Sauternes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 La Tour Blanche, Sauternes (96RP, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The La Tour Blanche 2001 has long been the “insiders’ Sauternes” for the vintage. Leave the Yquem ’01 for the millionaires: load up on one of the finest recent vintages from the estate. It has a potent honeyed, frangipane and white flower-scented bouquet with subtle nougat scents in the background lending it an exotic edge. The palate is extremely well balanced with fine acidity effortlessly slicing a swathe through that unctuous, honeyed fruit. There are also understated marmalade notes with a suggestion of crème brûlée furnishing the weighty finish that goes on and on. Just don’t tell anyone how good this La Tour Blanche is...promise? 2001 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2001 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (98RP, 94WE, 93ST, 91CG, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Production fell back to about 4,300 cases in 2001, which was a fabulous growing season in Napa Valley and from the get-go heralded as a profound vintage. Certainly Spottswoode hit all cylinders with its blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, and the first in a series of wines from them that eclipsed 14% alcohol (this one is 14.1%). Still dense purple to the rim, the wine is a young adolescent, with beautiful floral notes intermixed with deep crème de cassis, blackberry and blueberry Hints of licorice and graphite also present in this full-bodied, multilayered, magnificent and majestic Cabernet Sauvignon that is shaping up to be a great classic. There is at least 25-30 years of tasty longevity left in this large-scale Spottswoode that still seems to have a vague resemblance to Château Margaux. Bravo! (RP) 98+" (08/2016)

2001 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens"
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens" (95BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "In contrast to the completely primary nose of the '01 Grand Epenots, here there is some secondary development that only adds to the overall appeal of the aromas. The rich, pure and noticeably more mineral-driven flavors exude precision on the powerful, concentrated and simply stunningly persistent finish that explodes onto the palate. This is a 'wow' wine for its intensity and impeccable balance. *Outstanding*" (05/2011)

2001 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 95ST, 95WE, 94WS, 90W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A smidge more evolved than the 2002, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc, mostly from the famed Champoux Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. It offers a rock star bouquet of blackberry liqueur, cassis, dried licorice, spice and roasted meats to go with a full-bodied, concentrated, yet incredibly polished and elegantly textured mouthfeel. Blockbuster stuff that has everything, it is still youthful and vibrant and has another decade or more of longevity, although I see no reason to delay gratification. Drink now-2023. (JD)" (06/2013)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru "Clos des Epéneaux" (93BH, 92RP, 92VN). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(opened from personal storage). Wonderfully complex aromas of ripe, cool and now mostly secondary red and black fruit, crushed herbs and pungent warm earth aromas merge into medium-bodied, powerful, concentrated and vibrant flavors that have slowly mellowed to become relatively supple. The supporting structure has largely if not completely been resolved which imparts a velvety character to the precise and admirably persistent finish. This is an extremely impressive effort that has reached that inflection point of maturity where it could certainly be enjoyed now or held for a few more years first. Tasted a number of times over the years and this is indeed a terrific 2001 Côte de Beaune. Multple and consistent notes. (AM)" (12/2014)

A fine vintage, the 2001 "non-auction" Auslese scored 96 points in Wine Spectator, with this note: "A laser beam of fruit and mineral. Bid on this half-bottle lot of 2001 Gunderloch Nackenheimer Rothenberg Riesling Beerenauslese (375ml). "Ominously smoky and spiritously volatile aromatics also encompass dried peach and tangerine zest. In the mouth, this is positively dripping with glycerine, a brown sugar sweetness almost overwhelming the peach and citrus. Rich and sweet in the finish, with low-toned praline, peach and molasses notes. This is impressively long if not terribly refreshing or manifestly site-specific. 1 star." Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine des Chezeaux (Ponsot) Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An exceptionally pretty nose of spice and a solidly complex mix of now mostly secondary fruit aromas (though no sous bois) that reflect a touch of warm earth. There is fine richness and verve to the well-detailed and relatively power yet refined medium-bodied flavors that possess the same fine complexity of the nose, all wrapped in a still somewhat firm finish. While this is nearing its peak there is still just enough supporting structure remaining to suggest that this would benefit from 2 to 3 more years of cellar time and it should drink well for another 10 after that. Tasted only once since my original review." (06/2013)

This is an immensely satisfying wine graced with striking inner sweetness and a vibrancy that will drink well for another 15+ years. The density of the fruit at ten years of age is remarkable. 2001 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend (100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "2001 was the first truly great vintage for Jess Jackson and Pierre Seillan, and that is evidenced by the utterly perfect 2001 La Muse, a blend of 87% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec. Over three-fourths of it came from the Alexander Mountain estate of Jess Jackson, and the rest from Chalk Hill, Knights Valley, and a tiny bit from Bennett Valley. This dense purple-colored effort exhibits notes of licorice, creme de cassis, plum sauce, violets and truffles. Full-bodied with magnificent density, overall equilibrium, stunning purity, sweet but abundant tannin and a fabulous finish, this profound wine remains a baby at age ten. Give it another 5-6 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 35-40+ years. It is very French in style even though one could argue that this level of concentration can only be achieved by a handful of wines from Pomerol and St.-Emilion.

2001 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru (93BH, 92VN). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A mature yet attractively fresh nose offers up floral, earthy and spicy red berry fruit aromas that are showing traces of secondary development and are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is a really lovely mouth feel to the beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors that display a subtle mineral streak before culminating in a complex, balanced and lingering finish where a touch of the wood influence resurfaces. There isn't much unresolved tannin remaining and for my taste this has arrived on the front edge of its peak drinkability though it should remain here for at least another decade. 2001 is an elegant vintage for this wine and I very much like it." This is extremely stylish in a very understated manner. Bravo! " (01/2004)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "As is the case with this wine from 750 ml (see herein for that review), this beauty displays more elegance and finesse than usual with its pure aromas of earth, black and red fruit and spice that are nuanced by subtle notes of soy, coffee and hoisin. There is a really lovely mouth feel to the nicely voluminous, intense and mineral-laden middle weight flavors that deliver exceptionally fine length in an impeccably well-balanced finale. While certainly not at its apogee, this is one of those 2001s that is so harmonious that it could easily be enjoyed now though it clearly is still on the way up and thus should amply reward another 6 to 8 years of cellaring." The wine is dense, very rich, multilayered and finishes with at least a 40- to 45-second aftertaste. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Don't Miss!* Strikingly distinctive nose of game, rich black, earthy fruits and roasted coffee notes as well as something slightly animale plus lusty, full-bodied, intense, velvety flavors that display incredible presence. This is alive and vibrant and just screams breed and class. Much like the Combottes in that it is so intense as to seemingly result in permanent sensory overload. In short, this is a real stunner of a wine and possessed of an incredibly powerful finish. Wow!" (01/2003)

2000-2001 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Vertical
Bid on this 2-bottle 2000-2001 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Vertical, including 1-bottle of 2000 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (96RP, 95WS, 94ST) and 1-bottle of 2001 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (95WS, 94RP, 94ST). Of the 2000 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "More forward, open and textured, the 2000 Hermitage is an almost promiscuous effort that’s just hard to resist. According to Jean-Louis, this wine has never shut down and has always delivered plenty of pleasure. It has classic cassis and blackberry fruit, bacon fat, violets and herbs to go with a full-bodied, layered and seamless, if not voluptuous, style on the palate. I’d line bottles up for drinking over the coming couple of years, but it should hold nicely for upward of a decade. (JD)" (08/2014)

2001 Marcassin "Blue Slide Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Marcassin "Blue Slide Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (97WS, 94ST, 92RP). Wine Spectator: "A sensational Pinot that caresses the palate. Ultrarich and deeply flavored, with an easygoing and delicious range of ripe, spicy blackberry, black cherry, fresh earth and herbal spice and nutmeg flavors. Smooth, this delicate beauty dances on the palate, ending with a fragrant dried cherry and wilted rose petal scent. *Collectibles* (JL)" (02/2006)

2001 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A completely different aromatic profile as this is spicy and black fruit in character with edgy, racy, tannic flavors and a slightly tough finish. Masculine in style and if this rounds out with a few more months in barrel, it will merit the upper end of my range, or perhaps above it." (01/2003)

2001 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2001 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (100RP). It is very French in style even though one could argue that this level of concentration can only be achieved by a handful of wines from Pomerol and S
