2001 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (99RP, 98WS, 94JH, 93ST, 92W&S, 92WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The youngest Run Rig, the 2001, should equal the 1998 as it is almost a clone aromatically, texturally, and flavor-wise, just much younger. This opaque purple-colored beauty should flirt with perfection over the next 10-15 years. Torbreck’s flagship wine, the Run Rig, is made from 40- to 120-year-old Shiraz vines with some co-fermented Viognier (usually around 3%), tips the scales between 14-15% alcohol, and is aged 30 months in French oak. In contrast to the way they taste upon release, neither the 1998 or 1997 Run Rig revealed any oak." (06/2009)

2001 Léoville Poyferré, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Léoville Poyferré, St-Julien (95WE, 93W&S, 90RP, 90ST, 90WS). Wine Enthusiast: "The completeness of 2001, with its miraculous balance, is present in this wine. The acidity, ripe blackcurrants sit comfortably on top of dry tannins, the fleshiness of the fruit taking the edge off the tannins. It seems to bring out the structure, the fruit and the refreshing acidity of great Cabernet." (12/2007)

2001 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 100RP, 98WE, 96WS, 95CG, 95ST, 94W&S) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I should not be surprised that the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select merited a perfect rating since I rated it 99 eight years ago...The 2001 is a big wine (14.9% natural alcohol), but the alcohol is buried beneath an avalanche of creme de cassis, wood smoke, toast, licorice and spring flower characteristics. Super full-bodied with fabulous fruit purity, a broad, expansive mouthfeel, lots of glycerin and a huge upside, this 2001 is still an infant at age ten, but it is approachable as well as compelling to smell and taste. It has at least another three decades of aging potential ahead of it and is one of the great young, legendary classics from Napa Valley. It was a privilege to taste. There are approximately 2,000 cases of this cuvee which comes from Shafer’s hillside vineyards in the Stags

Magnificently ripe fruit, rich in currants and cocoa, well-oaked, with ripe, supple tannins. Doesn’t try to out-wow the competition in power, but the equilibrium is its strong point. Drink now—2015. Bid on this bottle of 2001 Robert Mondavi Stag's Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (92RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Chateau Margaux look-alike, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District, exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet nose of acacia flowers, white chocolate, and asphalt presented in a medium to full-bodied, well-delineated, lush style that manages to conceal serious tannin in the finish. A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot, this beauty can be enjoyed now and over the next 12-15 years." (12/2003)

2001 Bond "St. Eden" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Bond "St. Eden" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 96WS, 95WE, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Utterly perfect, another wine that seems to have taken on a first-growth Pauillac-like character (think Mouton-Rothschild) is the 2001 St. Eden. With a remarkably perfumed nose of crushed rocks, subtle barbecue smoke, and again, cedar wood intermixed with creme de cassis and blackberry, this wine displays a phenomenally concentrated mouthfeel, full-bodied opulence, voluptuous texture, and of this trio, is certainly the closest to its apogee of full maturity. Nevertheless, it will still benefit from another 5-10 years of cellaring and keep for an additional 25-30. (RP)" (06/2011)

2001 Anderson's Conn Valley "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Anderson's Conn Valley "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Readers looking for a Pauillac look-alike from Napa Valley should check out Todd Anderson’s 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) that is just beginning to hit its plateau of full maturity. Aromas of truffles, sweet loamy soil, plum sauce, creme de cassis, cedar and wood smoke emerge from this broad, expansive, plump effort. Starting to reveal some secondary nuances in its seamless personality, it possesses lots of power, beautiful purity, a broad, full-bodied mouthfeel and 15+ years of life still ahead of it. 2001 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 d'Yquem, Sauternes (100JS, 100RP, 100WS, 98ST). Wine Spectator: " *Collectibles, ranked #10 in Top 100 Wines of 2005* The greatest young Yquem I have ever tasted from bottle. Yellow, with a golden hue and an almost green tint. Intense aromas of botrytis, spices and blanched almonds follow through to honey, maple syrup, dried apricot and pineapple. Full-bodied, sweet, thick and powerful, with layers of fruit and a bright, lively finish. Coats the palate yet remains exciting. So balanced and refined, showing the pedigree that only this Sauternes estate can deliver. Best after 2012." (11/2005)

2001 Sociando-Mallet, Haut-Médoc
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Sociando-Mallet, Haut-Médoc (93RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This Haut-Medoc performed spectacularly on the two occasions I tasted it from bottle, even eclipsing its impressive showing from cask. It looks to be every bit as powerful as the 2000 ... not an easy achievement. A fabulous sleeper of the vintage, it tastes more like a first-growth than an unclassified offering. Its inky/blue/purple color is accompanied by a spectacular bouquet of lead pencil shavings, ink, blackberries, cedar, and earth. Full-bodied, with terrific texture, fabulous concentration, and moderately high tannin, this massive, atypical 2001 must be tasted to be believed. A brilliant achievement! Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020+. (RP)" (06/2004)

Of the 2001 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "A compelling example of this noble terroir in the northeastern sector of Napa Valley, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard still has a dense purple color and possesses a seamless personality with spectacular notes of licorice, incense, black raspberries, black currants, crushed rock, and spring flowers. Stunningly full-bodied, multi-layered, with great purity and expression, this fabulous wine is still youthful but very accessible, as the tannins are velvety and well-integrated. This wine will keep aging beautifully for a minimum of another quarter century. Bravo! (RP)" (06/2011)

2001 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 94WE, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a beautiful wine, although more recent vintages may ultimately prove to be even better, particularly the 2007. This blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, from one of Napa’s prestigious sites on the valley floor tucked behind the town of St. Helena, has a dense blue/purple color and a beautifully sweet nose of spring flowers intermixed with raspberry jam, blueberries and black currants. Some licorice and subtle oak are followed by a quintessentially elegant yet substantial wine with sweet tannins, medium to full body and a seamless texture. Drinkable already, the wine will continue to offer the more elegant, complex, evolved style of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon produced in 2001 for at least another 15-20 years. (RP)" (06/2011)

The mouthfeel is lush and concentrated with silky smooth tannins and a long finish that revisits those gorgeous tobacco, berry and dusty notes." (11/2006)

2001 Sine Qua Non "Midnight Oil" Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Sine Qua Non "Midnight Oil" Syrah (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The impeccable 2001 Midnight Oil (95.5% Syrah, 3% Grenache, and 1.5% Viognier) is a product of four vineyards, Alban, Stolpman, Bien Nacido, and White Hawk. The good news is there are 950 cases of this compelling effort. With a 'midnight' black color, and the viscosity of 10-W-40 oil, its aromas of violet/acacia flowers, melted licorice, camphor, blackberries, creme de cassis, and subtle toasty new oak are accompanied by a wine boasting terrific texture, good underlying acidity, ripe tannin, and a 60-second plus finish. This stunning effort competes with the 2000, and what looks to be Krankl’s greatest Syrah-based wine to date, the 2002. (RP)" (08/2003)

The finish sails on, returning to the rich flavor themes that are woven together in a tight yet seamless and persistent manner. " (02/2006)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I should not be surprised that the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select merited a perfect rating since I rated it 99 eight years ago. I also gave the 2002 Hillside Select a perfect rating. Kudos to Doug and John Shafer for creating two perfect wines in back to back vintages. 2001 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "2001 was the first truly great vintage for Jess Jackson and Pierre Seillan, and that is evidenced by the utterly perfect 2001 La Muse, a blend of 87% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec. Over three-fourths of it came from the Alexander Mountain estate of Jess Jackson, and the rest from Chalk Hill, Knights Valley, and a tiny bit from Bennett Valley. This dense purple-colored effort exhibits notes of licorice, creme de cassis, plum sauce, violets and truffles. Full-bodied with magnificent density, overall equilibrium, stunning purity, sweet but abundant tannin and a fabulous finish, this profound wine remains a baby at age ten. Give it another 5-6 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 35-40+ years. It is very French in style even though one could argue that this level of concentration can only be achieved by a handful of wines from Pomerol and

It is certainly powerful, but already the shape is finalized, with its plums and berries settling down with perfumes, acidity, just enough tannins and a warm, welcoming richness. A great argument for the superiority of 2001 over 2000." (12/2007)
