Of the 2000 Elio Altare Barolo,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Altare’s 2000 Barolo is fabulous. Round, sweet and caressing on the palate, the Barolo impresses for its impeccable balance, and fresh, vibrant fruit. There is not a hint of oxidation or French oak in this impeccable Barolo. The 2000 is just approaching the early part of what looks to be a very long drinking window. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2025. (AG)" (06/2011)

2006 Clerico "Pajana" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Clerico "Pajana" Barolo (96RP, 93JS, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo Pajana reveals incredible aromatic complexity and intensity, something this particular site isn’t always capable of. There is lovely definition to be found as this classic feeling, mid-weight Pajana opens up in the glass. Layers of ripe dark fruit, spices, flowers, licorice and minerals develop seamlessly through to the close. I am floored by the wine’s volume, depth and length. Quite simply, this is a magnificent effort from Clerico. (AG)" (02/2010)

2004 Elio Altare Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Elio Altare Barolo (93AG, 92WE, 92WS, 90ST). Antonio Galloni: "Altare’s 2004 Barolo is a sweet, dense wine loaded with considerable fruit that hides the tannic structure that lurks underneath. Licorice, menthol, baking spices and dark red fruit all make an appearance in this superbly well-proportioned Barolo. Sweet, ripe tannins, and a lingering note of mint give this wine a beautiful sense of lift on the finish. Altare’s Barolo was once quite representative of La Morra, but the recent addition of vineyards in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga in the blend make this a very different – dare I say it – almost traditional expression of Barolo. It is a lovely wine and is not to be missed. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2024. " (12/2007)

2001 Fontanafredda Barolo Lazzarito
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Fontanafredda Barolo Lazzarito (94W&S, 92AG, 92RP, 90WS). Wine & Spirits: "Lazzarito comes from La Delizia Vineyard located just outside the village of Serralunga. The nebbiolo vines here grow in sedimentary marine soils mixed with calcareous marl, and the resulting wines are textbook examples of the powerful structure associated with Barolo from Serralunga. This 2001 harnesses that power in a seamless way, the tannin providing a firm foundation for the interplay of punchy cherry flavors and fragrant porcini earthiness. After a day of air, the wine grows more expressive and becomes a precise, clean arc of flavor that lasts. Completely satisfying, this will only get better with time. Buy three bottles: two for the cellar and one for grilled rack of lamb." (12/2007)

2008 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin" Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin" Barolo (96ST, 93JS, 92RP, 92WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(Clerico is no longer using Ginestra on the label as of 2007: a change in the law recognized numerous crus, including Ginestra, but since many other growers use Ginestra on their labels, Clerico decided to name this wine after his own parcel): Medium red. Deeper and richer on the nose than the Pajana, with scents of redcurrant, mocha, dried flowers and earth. Wonderfully deep, layered and sweet; lush but with good limestone lift. This floods the palate with flavor and lingers with exceptional purity and persistence. " (10/2011)

1990 Parusso "Bussia" Barolo (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 1990 Parusso "Bussia" Barolo (1.5L) (95RP, 94AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Barolo Bussia appears amazingly youthful both in terms of its color and the freshness of its aromas. It was fermented in temperature-controlled cements vats and this winemaking choice has undoubtedly helped secure variety integrity. Although you do detect budding tertiary aromas, this is among the best-preserved wines I tasted from 1990. Dark cherry and blackberry are followed by candied apricot, licorice, red rose petal and dried tobacco left. I was especially impressed by the overall austerity and the silkiness of the mouthfeel. This bottle should be decanted 12 hours or more before consumption. Drink: 2014-2028. (ML)" (07/2014)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2000 Massolino "Serralunga d'Alba" Barolo (92WS). 92 points Wine Spectator: "Crushed berries and game on the nose turn to fresh-picked roses. Full-bodied, with well-integrated and racy tannins. Ripe and enticing fruit on the palate. Well-crafted wine." (07/04) According to Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Barolo, the regular bottling, offers a fresh and spicy nose, a medium body of good force and length, some attractive notes of leather and licorice, and a rather smooth finish for a Barolo from Serralunga." 2007 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin" Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin" Barolo (98RP, 95JS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Ciabot Mentin is one of the greatest wines I have ever tasted at this address. Deep, sensual layers of fruit flow from the glass as this full-throttle, intense Barolo reveals its profound, breathtaking personality. The 2007 shows tons of Ginestra nuance, but with extra dimensions to the fruit that literally covers every nook and cranny of the palate. Tasting this next to the 2006 is quite a comparison, as both wines are fabulous. Readers who can should be sure to own bottles of both. A side-by-side comparison is sure to be fascinating as the wines develop over the coming years. Astute readers will note the slight name change here, which is the result of new regulations that require the use of the historic vineyard name, in this case Ginestra, or a proprietary name. Call me nostalgic, but it is sad to see one of the iconic labels in Barolo disappea
