2002 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2002 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red (OWC - 95AG, 94RP) in original wood. Antonio Galloni: " The 2002 Opus One is a big step up from the 2001. Freshly cut flowers, juicy raspberries, anise and sweet spices literally jump from the glass in an Opus One that is all about opulence and huge, voluptuous fruit. Juicy, vibrant and impeccably balanced, the 2002 is firing on all cylinders today. The creamy, layered finish is simply impeccable. This is a fabulous showing. " (06/2013)

2002, 2005-2006 Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Chardonnay Tasting Lot
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2002, 2005-2006 Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Chardonnay Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 2002 Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Chardonnay, 3-bottles of 2005 Chateau Montelena Napa Chardonnay (92RP), and 2-bottles of 2006 Chateau Montelena Napa Chardonnay (91RP, 89ST). Of the 2005 Chateau Montelena Napa Chardonnay,92 points Robert Parker writes: "One of the few California Chardonnays that behaves like a grand cru Chablis is Chateau Montelena’s non-malolactic Chardonnay Napa, which rarely sees more than 10-20% new oak. As usual, the 2005 exhibits a nervous edge as well as loads of lemon butter, green apple, and white currant-like characteristics, laser-like precision, superb acidity, and surprising intensity as well as richness. Readers who prefer less oak in their Chardonnays should give this zesty, light, boldly-flavored example a look." (12/06)

2002 Ridge "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml)
Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 2002 Ridge "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml) (95RP, 94ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Monte Bello Proprietary Red is a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. It tastes as if it hasn’t changed since I first sampled it in late 2003 and then again in bottle two years later. The color is healthy ruby/purple, and the wine displays some dusty, oaky, vanillin notes that jump out of the glass along with a touch of white chocolate as well as red and black currants and hints of cedar and forest floor. Extremely young and full-bodied, with some wood char still present, it is unevolved and tastes like it could be a barrel sample, except that it has been in bottle for nearly ten years! This is a blockbuster Ridge Monte Bello that still needs a minimum of another 10 years of bottle-age and should keep for 50+ years. Only for the young and patient!" (06/2012)

2002 Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2002 Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The non-estate Cabernet Sauvignon, which is now completely sourced from Calistoga vineyards, provides a fine introduction to the Montelena winemaking style. Normally Bo Barrett includes 10-15% Merlot in the blend, and these wines often age for 10-15 years. The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is the sexiest of the three most recent vintages. A soft, deep ruby/purple-tinged offering with loads of black currant fruit as well as hints of damp earth, licorice, and underbrush, this silky-textured, opulent Cabernet Sauvignon will provide delicious drinking over the next 10 plus years. 2002 Mayacamas Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Mayacamas Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon. The thin, rocky volcanic soils at Mayacamas, in the Mt. Veeder district of western Napa, decrease vigor, producing small, concentrated berries. Mild summers and cold winters further intensify flavors. After two and half years in wood (a year and a half in large oak casks, then one year in 60 gallon oak barrels) the wine exhibits classic structure, with balanced acids and tannins. Pure berries fill the nose with undercurrents of Mt. Veeder licorice and bay. On the palate, the fruit tends toward the dark, blackberry and black cherry, with hints of pepper and mint. Decant now or cellar for seven or more years.

2002 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 99WE, 97ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The extraordinary Harlan Estate, which I awarded 100 points seven years ago, offers no justifiable reason to doubt its perfect score. It is still a baby, with an inky purple color and notes of smoky camphor intermixed with creme de cassis, Asian soy and a hint of cedar beginning to emerge as well as some espresso and subtle damp forest floor notes. The wine has awesome intensity, a full-bodied mouthfeel, a skyscraper-like texture, and a finish that goes on for close to a minute. This is a perfect wine, still youthful and young, and not even in full adolescence as of 2012. It has 40 or more years ahead of it, but should hit its plateau of full maturity in another 5-10 years. It is certainly one of the most showy , flamboyant and remarkable Harlan Estates made to date. (More recently, the 2007 tends to resemble this wine more than any other vintage I can think of

2002 Leroy Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Narbantons"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Leroy Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Narbantons" (92BH, 91RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Outstanding* It's rare in my experience when a Savigny can trump a well-made Chambolle when it comes to aromatic complexity but that's exactly the case here as the sheer breadth of expression is mind boggling. Pungent earth, game, violets, smoke, iron and anise can be found in the richly fruited nose that introduces with a flourish the supple, delicious yet entirely serious and sappy flavors that offer a velvety, mouth coating and staining texture and wonderful length. As good as the Fremières, this is a clear step up and the '02 Narbantons is as good an example of this wine as I can ever remember." (01/2004)

2002 Turley "Library Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Turley "Library Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah ((90-92RP), 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard (85-year old vines) exhibits an opaque purple color followed by aromas of ink, graphite, minerals, licorice, smoke, and blackberry fruit. Powerful, dense, and excruciatingly tannic, it will be at its finest between 2008-2025." (12/2003)

2002 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2002 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 96WE, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Araujo’s spectacular 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is a 1,700-case blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot from a vineyard tucked in the lower hillsides of northeastern Napa Valley, not far from the quaint town of Calistoga. Araujo has enjoyed an incredible string of top-notch vintages from 2001 through 2005 and again from 2008 through 2010. Extremely youthful at age ten, the 2002 is a candidate for perfection. Its dense blue/purple hue is followed by abundant aromas of cassis, incense, crushed rocks and spring flowers. Full-bodied and opulent as well as pure, rich and authoritative, with abundant but beautifully integrated tannins, this opulent, plush 2002 can be drunk now or cellared for another 20-25 years." 2002 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (100RP, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I have always felt that top vintages of Marcassin Pinot Noir have a resemblance to a Ponsot Clos de la Roche from a great vintage. While some may say that-s impossible, I have bought and drunk enough of Ponsot-s Clos de la Roche and Marcassin-s Pinot Noir to have confidence in making that observation. Moreover, the rumor from numerous top Pinot producers about the origin of the Dijon clones being Ponsot old vine material adds to my convictions. The 2002 Marcassin Estate Pinot Noir exhibits a dense plum/purple color to the rim in addition to a compelling bouquet of raspberry jam, black cherries, Asian spice and the tell-tale forest floor note which is clearly a characteristic of the Burgundian clones used at Marcassin. Full-bodied, opulent, multilayered and built like a skyscraper with a silky texture, this profound effort is one of the greatest Pi

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 96CG, 96WS, 95ST, 93W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 boasts an inky/purple color along with notes of graphite, violets, blackberries, creme de cassis and hints of charcoal and barbecue in addition to a full-bodied, multilayered mouthfeel that builds incrementally with great purity, staggering fruit concentration, and a long, velvety, 50+-second finish. This prodigious effort should continue to drink well for 20+ years. (RP)" (11/2013)

2002 Diamond Creek "Red Rock Terrace" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Diamond Creek "Red Rock Terrace" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97WE, 96RP, 92CG). Wine Enthusiast: "**Cellar Selection** The most complete and compelling of Diamond Creek’s trio of ’02s, combining the opulent accessibility of Gravelly Meadow with the power and authority of Volcanic Hill. The aromas of cassis, red currants, cedar, tobacco and cigar box lead to massively packed Cabernet flavors wrapped in huge, dusty tannins. The wine is so balanced, so distinguished and complete. Decant now if you must drink it, but it should start to mellow by 2008, and then peak and hold through 2015 at least. " (08/2006)

2002 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Fremiets"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Fremiets" (91BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(opened from personal storage). An exceptionally pretty and ripe nose mixes maturing fruit aromas of plum, black raspberry and hints of violets along with background nuances of iron-infused earth. There is fine richness to the round, elegant, pure and mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess good mid-palate density, all wrapped in a lingering and impressively persistent finish. Initially this is still fairly tightly wound but with 30 to 40 minutes of air it relaxed and was relatively open and accessible. For my taste, I would suggest holding it for another 2 to perhaps 4 years but at this point it would be no particular vinous crime to enjoy a bottle now. In a word, lovely. " (01/2012)

2002 Domaine Bizot Échézeaux Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Domaine Bizot Échézeaux Grand Cru (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "As it usually is, this is the best wine in the group with a powerfully concentrated, earthy, spicy nose framed in the barest hint of oak that leads to intense, taut, edgy, remarkably complex flavors of considerable refinement and plenty of finishing structure. This is classically proportioned with the kind of muscle and chewy tannins that one expects to find in a typical Echézeaux. Extremely promising but a wine that will require some patience.
