2008 Elio Grasso "Ginestra - Casa Matè" Barolo
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2008 Elio Grasso "Ginestra - Casa Matè" Barolo (98RP, 98VN, 96ST, 95JS, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Licorice, tar, menthol, spices and crushed rocks are some of the nuances that flow from the 2008 Barolo Ginestra Vigna Casa Mate. This dramatic, large-scaled Barolo impresses for its towering depth, complexity and sheer pedigree. Tar, menthol, licorice and spices wrap around the fleshy, deep finish. The Ginestra Vigna Casa Mate is considerably more powerful than the silkier Gavarini, but both wines represent the height of finesse in Nebbiolo. (AG)" (04/2012)

Wine Enthusiast: "Pio Cesare and the 2007 vintage marry beautifully to produce a layered, opulent, textured, rich wine that is bursting with zesty red fruit, sassy spice, leather and toasted espresso bean. What really sets this wine apart is the dense smoothness of its texture. Save this bottle in your cellar 10 years or more. " (09/2011)

1978 & 1989 Barolo Tasting Lot
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1978 & 1989 Barolo Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 1978 Marcarini "Brunate" Barolo (95JG, 93VN) and 1-bottle of 1989 Ceretto "Zonchera" Barolo (90RP). Of the 1978 Marcarini "Brunate" Barolo ,John Gilman writes: "I love the 1978 Marcarini Brunate and this most recent bottle was another stellar example of both the vintage and this great terroir. The beautiful nose wafts from the glass in a vibrant and fully mature mélange of red and black cherries, a touch of spiced meats, raw cocoa, sous bois, camphor, fresh almond and oregano in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and into its apogee, with a rock solid core of sweet fruit, great soil inflection, outstanding focus and grip and a very long, well-balanced and modestly tannic finish. Great juice in its prime, but with decades and decades of life still ahead of it. (Drink between 2014-2055)" (08/2014)

Wine Spectator: "This is expressive, with alluring cherry, strawberry, floral and mineral flavors building to a long, expansive finish. The elegant profile belies the serious structure underneath, which should allow this red to develop over the next 15 to 20 years. Offers fine berry fruit and a minerally aftertaste. Best from 2018 through 2033. *Collectibles* (BS)" (04/2016)

2003 Luigi Pira "Marenca" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Luigi Pira "Marenca" Barolo (93VN, 91RP). Vinous: "Giampaolo Pira's 2003 Barolo Marenca is gorgeous. Dark red cherries, plums, menthol, smoke and dried roses meld together effortlessly in the glass. The 2003 is remarkably young for its age, but there again, we are in Serralunga. If opened today the 2003 needs a lot of air to allow the searing tannins to soften. The 2003 is pretty much mature, but it has enough depth to drink well for another 5 maybe 10 years. This is a fabulous showing for the year. (AG)" (06/2014)

2010 Luciano Sandrone "Le Vigne" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Luciano Sandrone "Le Vigne" Barolo (100VN, 97WE, 96JS, 96RP, 94ST, 94W&S, 94WS). Vinous: "Sandrone's 2010 Barolo Le Vigne is one of the wines of the vintage, hands down. Rich, layered and utterly impeccable, the Le Vigne boasts stunning depth and richness. This is the second year in which Le Vigne includes fruit from Baudana which gives the wine a sense of volume and pure breadth it has never had before. Dried rose petal, tar, mint, wild flowers and cinnamon flow through to the multi-dimensional finish. The 2010 is a blend of fruit from Vignane and Merli, two historic sites for Le Vigne, while Cerretta and Conterni have been replaced by Baudana, a site in Serralunga that confers a level of depth, darkness and masculinity that has not been present in the past ... 2004 Bruno Giacosa "Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Bruno Giacosa "Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba" Barolo (97VN, 96RP, 94ST, 92JS, 92WS). Vinous: "Giacosa's 2004 Barolo Falletto is a rock star. The truth is that, if tasted alone, the white label Falletto could easily be mistaken for the Red Label Riserva. It is every bit that compelling. Intensely perfumed yet also towering in stature, the 2004 is simply magnificent. The main difference between the white label and red label is finesse in the tannin, which is a bit less polished here. But that is only because there is a comparison. Taken on its own, the Falletto is one of the very finest wines of the vintage. Elegance meets power. With a little advance aeration, the 2004 can be enjoyed young, but it is frankly best left alone for another few years, especially for readers who only own a few bottles. This is yet another 2004 that has really blossomed in bottle. (AG)" (05/2015)

2005 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin Ginestra" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin Ginestra" Barolo (96RP, 95ST, 95VN, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra emerges from the glass with endless layers of sweet spices, menthol, violets and dark fruit on a powerful, authoritative frame. This is a beautifully defined, sculpted wine of the very highest level. Tar, smoke and licorice linger on the finish. The tannins are massive at this stage, and the wine needs time, but the 2005 is undoubtedly one of the stars of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030. (AG)" (04/2009)

2003 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo (94RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Barolo Cascina Francia is a remarkable wine for the vintage. This deep, powerful Barolo reveals awesome richness and an almost liqueur-like quality to its fruit that is balanced by the chalky mineral notes that provide freshness on the finish and help convey an impression of notable balance. In 2003 there is no Monfortino, and the Cascina Francia surely benefits from the addition of that juice which is mostly felt in the wine’s depth. Resisting the temptation to harvest too early, Roberto Conterno waited until October 8 to start picking in his Cascina Francia vineyard, long after most producers had already brought the fruit in. He had the benefit of the late September rains that helped restore at least a little freshness to the fruit, and as a result his 2003 Cascina Francia doesn’t have the aggressive tannins that plague so many wines. Simply put, this is a stunn

2003 Gaja "Sori San Lorenzo" Langhe
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Gaja "Sori San Lorenzo" Langhe (95RP, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A slightly deeper hue than the Costa Russi, this has more intensity on the nose with macerated black cherries, a touch of leather, sloes, dark honey and dried orange peel. Complex and cerebral. The palate is medium-bodied, again with very fine tannins, symmetrical with superb poise and harmony. Grippy finish with layers of pure black cherries, raspberry liqueur and a touch of creme de menthe. Wonderful length and precision. My personal favourite of Gaja’s Barbarescos. Drink 2015-2025.
