Vinous: " The 2009 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano brings together the best qualities of the vintage, with a solid core of intense fruit, expressive aromatics and a measure of tannic heft that will keep the wine fresh and vibrant for many years. Dark cherry, plum, spice and leather notes flesh out on the huge, voluptuous finish. In 2009, the Montestefano is fabulous. " (10/2013)

2007 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo (93RP, 92JS, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Castiglione deftly balances the open, radiant personality of the vintage with considerable underlying structure. Warm, dense and full-bodied, the 2007 Barolo Castiglione flows effortlessly across the palate with generous fruit and fabulous overall balance. The wine was even better when I tasted it from bottle a few months later. It is another overachieving wine from Vietti and a bottle that is exceedingly fairly priced. (AG)" (02/2011)

2004 Bruno Giacosa "Rabaja" Barbaresco
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Bruno Giacosa "Rabaja" Barbaresco (98VN, 97RP, 94ST, 94WS). Vinous: "The 2004 Barbaresco Rabajà is a total head-turner. In this tasting, its only competition is the Asili Red Label. Even so, the Rabajà is an absolutely captivating, vivid wine from the first taste. Vertical and imposing in its sense of structure, with explosive energy to back things up, the Rabajà simply has it all. Scents of lavender, exotic spices and dark fruit add to the wine's total allure and seductive power. (AG)" (06/2016)

2010 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo (100VN, 99WE, 97WS, 96RP). Vinous: "From the moment we put together this tasting, I knew the 2010 Barolo had to be in the lineup because of its historical significance. It is arguably the greatest wine ever made here. Although naturally very young, the 2010 is super-expressive and also one of the clear highlights of the evening. All the elements simply fall into place. The interplay of aromatics, fruit and structure is utterly captivating. In many ways, the 2010 represents a culmination of all the work Maria Teresa Mascarello and her team have done over the last two decades to elevate quality. The gentleman to my left tells me I made a mistake in my initial review and score of the 2010. I agree. (100-AG)" (11/2016)

1999 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo (96VN, 94JG, 92RP, 92ST). Vinous: "Conterno's 1999 Cascina Francia graces the palate with extraordinary depth and resonance. Sweet floral notes wrap around a core of super-expressive red stone fruits as the wine opens up in the glass. Over the last few years the 1999 has continued to put on weight. Today, it is a much more extroverted and generous wine than it was at the outset. The 1999 can be enjoyed now and over the next 15-20 years, perhaps longer. This is a brilliant showing. 1958 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli "Antichi Vigneti Propri" Barolo Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1958 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli "Antichi Vigneti Propri" Barolo Riserva. From the personally owned old-vine holdings of one of the oldest winemaking houses in Piedmont. In fact, the Barolo of Borgogno was the wine chosen for the official celebration lunch of Italy's unity in 1861. Nebbiolo is the "king of wines" for a reason--it can age with the best grapes, especially in extraordinary vintages like 1958. Richard Jennings put this bottle in his top 15 wines of 2011, and gave it 97+ points: "Bricked medium red color with 1 millimeter clear meniscus; lovely, mature, ethereal, cigar box, roses, mint nose; lovely, silky textured, mature but still relatively youthful, ripe cherry, dried cherry, raspberry, roses, cigar box palate; has 25+ more years to go; long finish...(a truly satisfying, and remarkably youthful, mature, traditional Barolo; decanted for 3 hours)."

1998 Bruno Giacosa "Santo Stefano" Barbaresco Riserva
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Bruno Giacosa "Santo Stefano" Barbaresco Riserva (94ST, 94VN, 93WS, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Deep, expressive aromas of red fruits, minerals, dried flowers, roasted herbs, tar and camphor; I might have picked this blind as Barolo. Complex, penetrating, traditionally made wine with great verve and insinuating inner-mouth perfume. Urgent cherry, floral and spice flavors. Hugely tannic and very long; this multidimensional Barbaresco went into a shell in the glass. My score may prove to be conservative. (ST) 94+" (11/2002)

2004 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo (98VN, 97RP, (91-94ST), 90WS). Vinous: "The 2004 Barolo Cascina Francia boasts staggering depth and explosive intensity from the very first taste. One of the most brooding, backward 2004s, the Cascina Francia is one of the only wines in this vintage that I am slightly disappointed to have opened, as it is so intensely backward. Hints of sage, tobacco, menthol, rose petal and graphite open up in the glass, recalling just how mesmerizing the 2004 was in cask. At once silky, while at other times virile, the 2004 Cascina Francia is constantly changing in the glass. The multiple shades of nuance and complexity are those of Nebbiolo from a great site as expressed by one of the region's historic families. The price of Monfortino has escalated rapidly over the last few years, but by comparison, the 2004 Cascina Francia is still available in the market and represents a good relative value. 2004 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo (97VN, 95WS, 93ST). Vinous: "As has now become the norm here, Maria-Theresa Mascarello presents her older wines from magnum. The 2004 is a beautiful Barolo to behold, with an interplay of power and finesse that is utterly captivating. Orange peel, white pepper, wild flowers, lavender, mint and rose petals all blossom in the glass. The 2004 is just a bit less polished than the wines Mascarello makes today, although the truth is that by this time her late father, Bartolo, was not able to spend any time in the cellar because of illness. Today's wines are a bit more polished, but the 2004 is superb just the same, especially from magnum. (AG)" (05/2015)
