2010 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2010 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (100RP, 99VN, 98JS, 96ST, 95WE, 95WS, 93CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A remarkable wine, the 2010 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select has gone from strength to strength since it was in cask. It is stunningly rich, with classic, fragrant notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, vanilla, graphite and spring flowers. It exhibits an opaque purple color, with a full-bodied, massive mouthfeel, but no heaviness, and again, a flawless integration of acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood. It’s classic California Cabernet, but beautifully put together, showing impeccable craftsmanship and fabulous potential. This is obviously a very young, infantile style of Cabernet that won’t hit its prime for at least another decade and last close to half a century, based on how older vintages that were less well-endowed have matured from Shafer. 1978 Mayacamas Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1978 Mayacamas Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (100VN, 92WS). Vinous: "The 1978 Cabernet Sauvignon is quite simply one of the greatest Napa Valley wines I have ever tasted. Dark, powerful and explosive, the 1978 captivates all the senses with intense dark fruit, tobacco, smoke, cedar and licorice. Utterly mesmerizing from the very first taste, the 1978 shows no signs of fading. The firm tannins ensure another decade-plus of magical drinking. Readers fortunate enough to own well-stored bottles are in for an extraordinary drinking experience on a par with any wine from anywhere in the world. It's as simple as that. The 1978 remains a testament to the genius of Bob Travers and this rugged hillside site on Mt. Veeder. Here, too, provenance is everything. (AG)" (06/2014)

Bid on this magnum lot of 2003 Montrose, St-Estèphe (1.5L) (99RP, 97JS, 96ST, 95WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for a perfect score, the 2003 Montrose has been a superstar since the first time I tasted it in barrel. Showing no signs of weakening, it is an amazing wine from this fabulous terroir. It boasts a deep blue/purple color as well as a stunning perfume of blueberries, black currants, blackberries, licorice and camphor. Dense, full-bodied and rich with an unctuous texture, well-integrated, melted tannins, and a long, heady finish, this big, brawny, super-intense, gorgeous 2003 is just beginning to enter its plateau of full maturity. It should remain there for at least two decades. (RP)" (08/2014)

2004 Chris Ringland Shiraz Three Rivers (1.5L) (OWC)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2004 Chris Ringland Shiraz Three Rivers (1.5L) (OWC - 100RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Chris Ringland Shiraz is from another top vintage. Like the other wines, it spent 42 months in new French oak. Aromas of scorched earth, pencil lead, espresso, black currant and blueberry lead to a dense, complex, youthful wine with layer upon layer of succulent fruit, impeccable balance, and a decade of aging potential. Chris Ringland is a relatively modest bloke who gives most of the credit for his extraordinary wines to his nearly 100 year old vineyard. He now has 21 vintages under his belt the results of which place him with Marcel Guigal, Gerard Chave, Christophe Baron, Manfred Krankl, and Michel Chapoutier as the international grandmasters of Syrah/Shiraz. Bid on this magnum lot of 1970 Latour, Pauillac (1.5L) (94VN, 91WS, 90ST). Vinous: "A flight of 1970s that followed (all from magnums) was special, to say the least. The 1970 Chateau Latour was incredibly fresh in its generous expression of fruit, with a full-bodied, intense personality. I thought this bottle was very slightly corked, but I was among the distinct minority in that opinion. (AG)" (11/2007)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2010 Spottswoode "Family Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (100RP, 95VN, 94ST, 93WS, 91CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brilliant 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts an inky/purple color as well as glorious aromas of spring flowers, lead pencil shavings, licorice and a multitude of wild mountain fruits, in particular black raspberry, blackberry and cassis reminiscent of a French Pauillac (although I always think of Spottswoode as the Chateau Margaux of Napa). With a flawless integration of tannin, wood and acidity, it comes across like a liquid version of haute couture from the house of Chanel. It should drink well young yet age for 25 years. 2004 de Vogue Musigny Cuvee Vieilles Vignes (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2004 de Vogue Musigny Cuvee Vieilles Vignes (1.5L) (95ST, 93BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red. Ineffable aromas of raspberry, crushed stone and flowers. Like liquid silk on entry, then quite tightly wound in the middle, offering great purity and nerve but hiding more than it's showing in the way of flavor today. This has a nearly frightful intensity and superb stony persistence. Due to hail in late August, the yield here was just 20 hectoliters per hectare, compared to 25 in 2005, according to Millet. A highlight of the vintage. When I asked Millet to compare his 2004s to his 2001s, he told me that the acidity in the spine of the 2004s is barely tasteable, as the minerality of the wine dominates. "In comparison, the 2001s are gaining in sensuality and elegance," he said. "But their fresh fruit flavors are still fighting their acidity." (ST)" (03/2007)

1991 Opus One Napa Proprietary Red (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1991 Opus One Napa Proprietary Red (1.5L) (92RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted twice Deep garnet brick. Complex notes of meat, game, dried plum, black olive and dried Mediterranean herbs with a whiff of brett influence giving notes of sweaty saddles and a distinctive medicinal / band-aid character. The palate is nicely structured with a medium+ level of finely grained tannins and a crisp backbone of acidity fleshed out by an ample concentration of evolved fruit flavours. Long finish. Classy aromas of tangy grapefruit, pear eau de vie and minerals. Dense, pure, ripe and delineated; vibrant, pristine citrus, spice and stony flavors. Firm and brisk but creamy at the core, in the style of the vintage. Palate-staining finish features almost painful grip. (ST)" (09/1999)

Bid on this magnum lot of 1999 Mommessin Clos de Tart Grand Cru (1.5L) (94ST, 93RP, 92BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Vibrant, precise aromas of black fruits, violet, minerals and gun metal. A wine of great breadth and verve; still quite closed but already displays great energy in the middle palate. Flavors of raspberry and gunflint offer lovely restrained sweetness. Solidly structured but not hard; still, this wine firm acids and solid tannins call for a good 8 to 10 years of bottle aging. 1982 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1982 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L) (100RP, 95ST, 95WS, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the monumental wines of the last century is the 1982 Pichon Lalande. Since bottling, it has flirted with perfection, and was a sprinter out of the gate, which gave rise to questions about how quickly it would begin its decline. However, at age 27, it retains all its glossy, rich, flamboyant cassis fruit, chocolaty, berry jam-like notes, and plenty of earthy, foresty flavors. This is a full-bodied, extravagantly rich Pichon Lalande seemingly devoid of acidity and tannin, but the wine is incredibly well-balanced and pure. It is an amazing effort! " (06/2009)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Always one of Faiveley's best wines and the '02 is no exception with an incredibly complex nose of damp earth, minerals, game and a slightly wild fruit component followed by wonderfully sappy, deep, broad, muscular flavors and knock-out purity of expression. I very much like this and the finish is long and strikingly persistent." (01/2004)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The super 1990 Bonnes Mares offers up a big, expansive nose of sweet black fruits, new oak, and flowers. In the mouth, the wine is opulent and succulent, with medium to full body, superb depth of flavor, brilliant focus and delineation, as well as a round, generously endowed, velvety-textured finish. 2005 Continuum Oakville Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2005 Continuum Oakville Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (96RP, 94W&S, 92WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This impressive project of Tim Mondavi, from high on Pritchard Hill, has produced a wine that represents an innovative blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc and 19% Petit Verdot with 14.5% alcohol. Mondavi’s Midas Touch and his vast experience have turned out a gorgeous 2005 Proprietary Red that is still youthful and tastes more like a two- or three-year-old wine than one that’s already a decade old. The dense ruby/purple color offers up notes of incense, floral notes, graphite and subtle background earth and flowers. There is ripe fruit, and when the wine hits the palate, it builds incrementally to a medium to full-bodied, pure, delicious and complex beverage. It has a distinctive persistence and holding power, with a sense of elegance and lightness ... (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this magnum lot of 1997 Lail Vineyards "J Daniel Cuvee" Napa Valley Red Blend (1.5L) (93RP, 93WE, 90ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1997 J. Daniel Cuvee is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot (1200 cases produced). The dense ruby/purple-colored 1997 boasts a lavishly pure nose of blackberries, cassis, minerals, licorice, chocolate, and toast. It is expansive, with the vintage's tell-tale richness, sweet tannin, and outstanding ripeness and concentration. The persistent finish lasts for nearly 40 seconds. This wine possesses an openness and sweetness that gives it the impression of being ready to drink, but I suspect much more will emerge with aging. " (01/2000)

Fresh and delicate in the mouth, with refined tannins though a hint of overtly resinous woodiness, it finishes with tender refreshment and lingering, village-typical floral and animal intrigue. Bid on this magnum lot of 2004 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo (1.5L) (96RP, 96VN, 92ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mascarello’s 2004 Barolo Monprivato is an explosive wine with an almost Pinot-like expression of purity in its fruit. This round, sweet Barolo is extremely primary at this stage, with tons of dense fruit that almost cover the wine’s tannins completely. Subtle overtones of roses and tar develop in the glass, rounding out this majestic wine. Monprivato is one of the world’s very finest values in collectible, age-worthy wine, and the 2004 is another classic in the making. I was blown away by this wine’s sheer balance and harmony, both of which are remarkable considering the wine’s age. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2034. (AG)" (10/2008)

Bid on this magnum lot of 2010 Domaine de Courcel Pommard 1er Cru "Grand Clos des Épenots" (1.5L) (93BH, 93ST, 90WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright full red. Deep, nuanced aromas of red berries, spices and underbrush. Rich, vinous and deep, with sweet redcurrant fruit lifted by peppery spices. Shows terrific vivacity and precision in spite of its modest acidity (the pH here is 3.7, according to winemaker Yves Confuron), no doubt due to the whole-cluster fermentation. This generous, sensual wine finishes with fine but seriously gripping tannins. 93+ Points" (03/2013)

Pascal was working as a pharmacist specialising in homeopathy when he met Florence Arnoux, daughter of Robert; marriage and winemaking were soon to follow. Bid on this magnum lot of 2013 Schrader "Old Sparky" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (OWC - 100RP, 98JS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Sparky, which is essentially made from clone 4 from two separate blocks, clone 6 and clone 337, is another perfect wine from the Schraders. I suppose it’s a little boring to say, and perhaps I can be accused of creating unrealistic expectations on the part of readers, but this is as great as Cabernet can be. Tasting like a first-growth Pauillac, the wine is opaque purple and has a fabulous nose of lead pencil, spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry and the telltale cassis. There is also some licorice and sweet oak, the tannins are ripe, and the wine full-bodied. Built like a skyscraper, with an incredible finish (like most of these wines) going on for 50 seconds to a minute, this amazing wine should still be drinking splendidly well at age 25 or 30.
