2008 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 96WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Booker Vineyard (92% Syrah and 8% Mourvedre, which had also been bottled immediately before my visit) has an opaque purple color and a wonderfully sweet nose of black cherry, black currant, licorice, incense, and some Asian spices. The wine has seamless lushness, a voluptuous texture, stunning purity, and a very long, 40-second-plus finish. Booker is another top site that I believe was planted with Justin Smith’s help. It is a 40-acre vineyard sitting on similar limestone soils. This incredible wine would probably benefit from a couple of years of cellaring, as the structure is more present, no doubt due to the high level of Syrah in the wine. It should evolve for 10-15 more years. (RP)" (08/2010)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Mas de Boislauzon "Cuvée du Quet" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, a big time sleeper of the vintage, is well-worth buying. The finest traditional Chateauneuf produced at Mas de Boislauzon, it boasts a saturated ruby/purple color as well as a spectacular nose of licorice, black raspberries, black cherries, and lavender, and an exquisitely full-bodied, multidimensional and layered wine with not a hard edge to be found. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine La Barroche "Pure" Châteauneuf du Pape (OWC - 100RP, 97WS, 95ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine that will rival the '05 in another handful of years, the utterly profound 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Pure offers the most purity and precision of any of the cuvees, yet backs it up with incredible concentration and depth. Giving up tons of blackberry, kirsch, black cherries, pepper, ground herbs and licorice, it's impeccably balanced and manages somehow to deliver an insane amount of fruit and texture in a lively, graceful and elegant style. Grenache at its finest, give bottles 2-3 years and count yourself lucky anytime you're able to drink this elixir. It should have 20-25 years of longevity. (JD)" (09/2015)

2009 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 95WS, 94ST, 92JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Broken Stones is sourced from all of the estate’s vineyards, which in this vintage includes Padereweski fruit for the first time, although most of the fruit was sourced from James Berry. Today it comes across as rather tightly wound and implosive, although with air the wine’s potential becomes more evident. Dark cherries, licorice and smoke wrap around the intense finish. Floral notes add the final layers of complexity and nuance. This is another fabulous effort. In 2009 the blend is 60% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre, 12% Petite Sirah and 8% Grenache. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. (AG)" (09/2011)

Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Showing a smidge of worrisome volatile acidity, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin nevertheless has off-the-hook levels of richness and depth. Spring flowers, blackberry, cassis, licorice, violets and white pepper are all present here, and it’s a massive wine on the palate, with big fruit, a voluptuous texture and a great finish. After this tasting, I pulled a bottle from my cellar (purchased on release), and it was firing on all cylinders, with not a hint of VA, so this appears to be an isolated issue. One of the benchmark estates in the Rhone Valley, Domaine de la Janasse is run by the talented brother/sister pair of Christophe and Isabelle Sabon. Located in the northeastern portion of the region, near Courthezon, they produce an incredible range of wines, from their Vin de Pays, to their Cotes du Rones and world-class Chateauneuf du Papes, all o

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Beaurenard "Cuvée Boisrenard" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96WS, 93RP, 91ST). Wine Spectator: " *Highly Recommended* This powerful red offers a muscular core of roasted fig, blackberry and cassis fruit framed by thick, mesquite-tinged tannins, with loads of tobacco, pepper and tar coating the finish. Yet despite its power, this is racy and defined, with mouthwatering cut on the finish, where the mesquite note lingers. Ambitiously toasty, yet fully integrated. On par with the superb 2001 and 2005 vintages. Best from 2014 through 2024. " (10/2011)

Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine de la Mordorée "Reine des Bois" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (97RP, (93-96ST), 96WS, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Evolving beautifully, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de La Reine des Bois has shed some of its crazy tannin and is showing a more layered, voluptuous profile. Possessing beautiful kirsch, blackberry, candied licorice, flowers and lavender, it offers knockout richness and decadence to go with brilliant purity of fruit, superb concentration, and a full-bodied, layered mouthfeel. While I don’t think it matches the ’01 or ’10, it’s an incredible bottle of wine that can be consumed anytime over the coming 10-15 years. (JD)" (08/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 2007 Roger Sabon "Secret de Sabon" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 96ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Secret du Sabon is jaw-dropping good, and tops out on my scale. Crazily perfumed and complex, with layers of kirsch, crushed flowers, incense, beef blood and garrigue, it hits the palate with massive depth and richness, thrilling purity of fruit and a seamless texture that needs to be tasted to be believed. I'd happily drink bottles today, but given its mid-palate depth and no shortage of tannin that emerges on the finish, it will have no issues evolving through 2027. (JD)" (08/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Every bit as profound as the 2010, yet in a more voluptuous, lower acid, hedonistic style, the inky colored 2009 Hermitage les Bessards (aged all in new French oak) offers incredible intensity and depth in its black raspberry, toasted bread, graphite and spice-like aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, massively endowed and with a wealth of raw material, it has high, yet sweet tannin and a finish that just won't quit. Give it 4-5 years and drink it over the following 3-4 decades. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2003 Andre Brunel "Les Cailloux" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (93ST, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep, bright red. Cherry, red plum, raspberry liqueur aromas, along with pungent notes of rose, violet and smoked meat. Conveys the great ripeness of the vintage but the tangy wild strawberry and rhubarb flavors are impressively fresh and delineated too. This expands impressively through the finish without losing focus or verve. While there are no tough tannins to get in the way of early drinking, this has the stuffing to repay cellaring." 1997 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1997 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (95ST, 94RP, 93WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "The “Bollito not boiled” is one of Bottura’s classic dishes (seven different cuts of beef slowly cooked—for 36 hours—at a lower-than-usual temperature), while the “Beautiful, psychedelic…” veal creation is a far more modern Pollock-esque take on meat, but both match splendidly with Chave’s heavenly 1997 Hermitage Rouge. I’m not much for extremely rich, almost fat reds (and ’97 pushed the envelope) but this wine has aged magnificently and comes across as plush yet graceful, a neat trick. Stylishly supple and glyceral, it overpowers neither the veal nor the bollito." (12/2014)

Of the 1998 Torbreck "Run Rig'" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 1998 Run Rig is a phenomenal wine. An inky/blue/purple color is followed by an incredibly intoxicating, endearing bouquet of peaches, honeysuckle, blackberries, and spring flowers, full-bodied, concentrated flavors that show slightly more depth and length than the 1997, and more velvety tannins than the 1996. 2011 Torrin "Tsundere" Paso Robles Red Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Torrin "Tsundere" Paso Robles Red Blend (94RP, 93VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Incorporating more Tannat than normal, the 2011 Tsundere is comprised of 35% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Tannat and the balance Grenache. Aged 18 months in 65% new French oak, it’s the most structured and tannic in the lineup, and will need 2-4 years to round into form. It shows the Cabernet on the nose, with textbook cassis, blackcurrants, lead pencil shavings and hints of tobacco leaf all emerging from the glass. This is followed by a full-bodied, seamless, yet beautifully concentrated wine that has solid density, a great texture and building, savory tannin. There are less than 200 cases of this, but it’s a great wine and will have 15+ years of longevity. Made by Scott Hawley, these are classic Paso blends that never lack for fruit or texture, yet always back it up with superb underlying structure. 94+ points. (JD)" (08/2014)

It represents what Saurel believes is his finest parcel of old vines. This cuvee is always the richest and fullest of this trio of Gigondas, and it can also contain more truffle, herbs, tannin and structure. A complex, intricate Gigondas, it offers a terrific perfume of truffles, forest floor, acacia flowers, and lots of black and red fruits. A classic blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre and the rest Syrah, Vaccarese and Counoise, all aged in large foudres in Clos des Papes's air-conditioned and humidity-controlled wine cellar, the wine boasts a dense purple color along with lots of gorgeously pure black raspberry, black currant and kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with notions of spring flowers, tapenade, licorice and spice box. This dense, full-bodied, powerful Chateauneuf is also remarkably fresh and well-delineated. It even exceeded the 2007 in natural alcohol, coming in at 15.9%. With an extraordinary texture and considerable tannin in the finish, it will benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age, and is built for 25-30 years of cellaring. Don't miss it!
