2013 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 96VN, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 James Berry Vineyard Proprietary Red is made from 45% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 8% Counoise (which Justin commented was a blend that was put together relatively late). It saw a big chunk of whole cluster (the Grenache was mostly destemmed though) and was brought up all in puncheons and foudre (the normal concrete component went to the Rocket Block). It offers up gorgeous notes of black raspberries, cherries, cassis, ground herbs and flowers. This beauty hits the palate with incredible purity, fine tannin and an overriding sense of elegance and finesse, backed up by full-bodied richness and depth. It needs to be forgotten for 3-4 years and it will drink beautifully through 2028. (JD)" (08/2016)

Of the 2009 Domaine Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Another wine that got better and better over the evening was the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul. I've drunk through my fair share of bottles of this over the past few years. It has never shut down and has always shown well. A ripe, forward and sexy wine, it has lots of kirsch, garrigue, exotic spice and floral notes to go with a ripe, concentrated feel on the palate. It certainly has the vintage's Provencal character and is an exuberant, hedonistic Grenache to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years. (JD)" (09/2015)

Even with all of its power and richness, the 2013 retains striking aromatic lift and energy. I would give it another few years to settle down, but it is superb today. This is an extraordinary wine by any measure. Don't miss it. 2011 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2011 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 95VN, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brilliant 2011 Syrah Broken Stones comes from a cooler block of the James Berry Vineyard and checks in as a blend of 78% Syrah, 18% Mourvedre and 4% Petit Sirah. Relatively forward (especially when compared to the locked up Bone Rock), with fabulous purity and freshness, it exudes notions of creme de cassis, blueberry, pepper, crushed flowers and sweet oak on the nose. Full-bodied, seamless and elegant, yet with building richness and rock star length, it’s an elegant version of the cuvee to drink over the coming 15 years or more. (JD)" (08/2014)

Jeb Dunnuck: "Close to my 12th bottle of the 2003 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée and this was one of the more tight and compact bottles. The aromas are dense and pure with stunning cassis and dark fruit intermixed with licorice, meat and leather notes. Bid on this bottle of 1989 Henri Bonneau "Réserve de Célestins" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (99JG, 99RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Inching closer and closer to the celestial 1990, is the 1989. This cuvee was fabulous when tasted in Bonneau’s cellars, but it closed down after bottling. Possibly even more powerful and tannic than the 1990, as well as more backward, the 1989 looks to be a great classic. It is a Reserve des Celestins to forget for another 3-8 years. It possesses all the characteristics of the 1990, but everything is packed into a more linear personality. Amazing stuff! Anticipated maturity: 2009-2035. (RP)" (01/2003)

2007 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (99RP, 98WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Bone Rock, which comes from the James Berry Vineyard (82% Syrah, 13% Mourvedre, and the rest Grenache, also aged 28 months in a combination of smaller barrels, demi-muids, and pungeons), is super as well. Like its late-released sibling, it has an inky/purple color to the rim and an extraordinary, soaring set of aromatics consisting of spring flowers, pepper, graphite, blackberry and blueberry fruit with hints of raspberry and licorice and jus de viande as well. The extraordinary freshness and elegance of this wine leads to a minerality that even eclipses the Heart Stone. The finish goes on for a good 45+ seconds, and the purity is awesome. This extraordinary wine completes the 2007 portfolio of unbelievable efforts from the Smiths. (RP)" (08/2010)

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Pierre Usseglio et Fils "Réserve des Deux Frères" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (99RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres elicits “wows”. Aged 60% in neutral wood foudres and 40% in one, two, and three-year old Burgundy barrels, this 2001, which tips the scales at an awesome 16.2% natural alcohol, boasts an inky/purple color along with a sensationally pure bouquet of blackberries, graphite, acacia flowers, licorice, and sweet kirsch liqueur. Unctuously textured and full-bodied, with high tannin as well as a closed personality, this prodigious yet fabulous Chateauneuf du Pape is a potential legend in the making. It requires 3-5 years of cellaring, and should keep for two decades. The texture, purity, and magnificent concentration suggest tiny yields, old vines, and non-interventionalistic winemaking. 2009 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Booker Vineyard is 70% Syrah and 30% Mourvedre from one of the rockiest, steepest hillsides in Paso Robles. Layers of dark fruit, spices, tar and licorice emerge from the glass in this deep, sensual wine. Booker usually sees the highest percentage of new oak, and elements of spiciness come through on the finish, although some of the oakiness blows off with time in the glass. Booker is another site Smith planted and continues to pull fruit from, in this case three blocks of Syrah and one of Mourvedre. In 2009 there were two lots; the first 100% Syrah vinified with 20-25% stems, the second a Syrah/Mourvedre co-ferment. Both lots were blended for the finished wine. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More precise and focused than the more exuberant, sexy and rounded '00, the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul is borderline perfection (I seriously considered adding a point here) and a monumental Chateauneuf du Pape that is drinking at point. Kirsch, olive tapenade, roasted meats, tobacco and assorted mature Grenache characteristics give way to a full-bodied, massively endowed, concentrated, gorgeously layered wine that's just about as good as it gets. Bid on this bottle of 2000 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée da Capo" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 97WS, (94-95ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee da Capo is a monument to old vine Grenache as well as traditionally made Chateauneuf du Pape. Boasting a natural alcohol of 16%, this wine, which was bottled in spring, 2003 because its fermentation was extremely slow, has virtually everything you could ever want in a profound Chateauneuf du Pape. The color is inky/ruby/purple to the rim. The extraordinary nose reveals aromas of kirsch liqueur, new saddle leather, animal fur, Provencal herbs, spice box, licorice, and a salty sea breeze character. On the palate, the wine is enormous, with an unctuosity, thickness, and purity that must be tasted to be believed. Over 95% of this offering is old vine Grenache, and the rest a field blend of ancient vines. Representing the essence of Chateauneuf du Pape, it possesses so much concentration that it is easy to pose the quest

2007 Saxum "Heart Stone Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Saxum "Heart Stone Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 97WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The late-released 2007 Heart Stone, which spent 28 months in a combination of barrels, demi-muids, and pungeons, turned out to be a final blend of 65% Syrah, 21% Grenache, and 14% Mourvedre. Like all of Justin Smith’s 2007s, it is a riveting, sensational wine that carries its heavy weight, profound richness, and intensity very gracefully. That is no doubt an effect of the limestone soils of this region. Blackberry and smoked meats as well as some garrigue and floral notes are followed by a dense, rich, pure, multi-layered wine that just screams for grilled poultry or meats! Bottled unfined and unfiltered...this is a fabulous wine that combines power and elegance. It should drink well for at least a decade or more. (RP)" (08/2010)

Bid on this magnum lot of 2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (96JD, 96RP, 96WS, 94ST). Wine Spectator: "This extremely dense red delivers layers of melted fig, mulled boysenberry and black currant fruit, all laced with notes of charred mesquite, hoisin sauce and Kenya AA coffee. The long, silky mouthfeel belies the latent power in reserve--and there's a lot of it, with waves of grip driving the finish. Best from 2010 through 2030. (JM)" (12/2009)

2007 Domaine de la Mordorée "Reine des Bois" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine de la Mordorée "Reine des Bois" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (97RP, (93-96ST), 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Evolving beautifully, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de La Reine des Bois has shed some of its crazy tannin and is showing a more layered, voluptuous profile. Possessing beautiful kirsch, blackberry, candied licorice, flowers and lavender, it offers knockout richness and decadence to go with brilliant purity of fruit, superb concentration, and a full-bodied, layered mouthfeel. While I don’t think it matches the ’01 or ’10, it’s an incredible bottle of wine that can be consumed anytime over the coming 10-15 years. (JD)" (08/2014)

2003 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée da Capo" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée da Capo" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 99WS, (95-97ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "At present the Capo reveals that extra level of flavor, power, complexity and richness. It is a big wine (16.1% alcohol – less than in the 1998, but more than in the 2000 and 2007) boasting a dark plum/garnet color as well as a stunning bouquet of aged beef intermixed with pepper, herbes de Provence, and steak au poivre. This unctuously textured, full-bodied Chateauneuf possesses enormous body, huge flavors and sweet, velvety tannins. Still youthful, it has not yet begun to close down, and I'm not sure it ever will given this unusual vintage. It is a modern day classic that should continue to provide provocative as well as compelling drinking for 20-30+ years. (RP)" (10/2010)

Of the 2001 Andre Brunel "Les Cailloux" Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "(a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre and 15% Syrah) Dark red. Soil-inflected aromas of gunflint, hot rocks, woodsmoke and plum. Saline, tactile and concentrated, with terrific density of texture leavened by strong but harmonious acidity. Tart berry notes, in conjunction with the wine's rocky, minerally quality, accentuate the impression of spine. This is rigorous today, but also seamless and suave. Very firm, building finish goes on and on. (ST)" (01/2004)

2007 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée da Capo" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée da Capo" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A deeper, richer version of the Cuvee Reservee, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee da Capo is one of the more youthful, concentrated wines of the vintage. Coming primarily from the la Crau lieu-dit and over 90% Grenache, aged in an old foudre, its deep ruby color is followed by a bonafide smorgasbord of Provencal aromas and flavors of garrigue, cured meats, incense, beef blood, black currants and pepper. While a full-bodied, incredibly concentrated, rich and unctuous wine, it carries its wealth of fruit and mid-palate density with incredible elegance and purity, with a seamless texture, no hard edges and a finish that won't quit. The 2007 is more elegant and seamless than both the 1998 and 2003, with an incredible sweetness of tannin. Nevertheless, it still needs another 2-4 years of bottle age and will blow your mind over the following 10-15 years. (JD)"

2005 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98WS, 97JD, 95ST, 94RP). Wine Spectator: "Really tight now, but packed with dark fig, currant, espresso, licorice and chocolate notes. Superfleshy but seriously structured, there's layer after layer of sweet spice, fruit and minerality pumping through the finish, with lots of latent depth and power. Far more backward than the 2003 or 2004 on release, but since this red typically puts on weight as it ages, it should be a monster--à la the 1990--when it reaches its peak. Best from 2009 through 2030. *#1 on Top 100 of 2007, Collectibles* (JM)" (12/2007)

2007 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Never one of Laurent's favorite vintages (although I suspect he's warmed up to it slightly), the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape continues to drink brilliantly, and while this bottle was just slightly closed, I’ve had numerous bottles from my cellar that are open and singing. Nevertheless, on this occasion, it took some swirling to get it to open up and it’s a concentrated, structured, full-bodied beauty that has the classic elegance of the estate yet with another level of fruit and exuberance. It’s just at the early stages of full maturity, is a smoking good drink and will keep for another 10-15 years. (JD)" (02/2017)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest traditional cuvee ever made at this estate is the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, which is a classic blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 7% Syrah and 3% Cinsault that was harvested from the 7th to the 17th of September. Deeper, richer and more concentrated than the 2009, it offers classic notes of framboise, kirsch, black cherries, garrigue and incense in a full-bodied, multi-dimensional and layered style that just begs to be drunk. Possessing both power and elegance, it bears more than a passing resemblance to the Vieilles Vignes cuvee and will drink nicely for another decade. (JD)" (10/2016)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful wine that's just now hitting maturity, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape from Jean-Paul Daumen is still ruby colored to the rim and offers up a classic bouquet of black raspberries, black licorice, fruit cake, garrigue and roasted meats. Full-bodied and concentrated, yet with a seamless, impeccably balanced profile, it's drinking beautifully today but has another 10-15 years of overall longevity. (JD)" (02/2017)

Wine Spectator: "Textbook, with singed cedar and tobacco leaf, lavender and bay notes weaving through flavors of date nut bread, dried currant and mulled cherry fruit. All of this is harnessed by pebbly tannins that leave a juicy, mouthwatering feel on the finish. A domaine that hasn't missed a beat in quite some time. Drink now through 2021. (JM, Web-2012)"

2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 1,580 cases of the 2012 James Berry Vineyard and it reminds me of the 2009 Janasse Chaupin (which is one of Justin’s favorite wines). Incorporating more Mourvedre than normal, it’s made from 43% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 10% Counoise that’s aged in a combination of concrete and barrel. Rock star stuff, with fabulous black raspberry, cassis, spring flowers and charred meat aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, yet stays lively, incredibly pure and elegant, with lots of fine tannin emerging on the finish. It will benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar and have 15-20 years of ultimate longevity. (JD) 97+" (08/2014)

1989 Château de Beaucastel "Hommage A Jacques Perrin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Château de Beaucastel "Hommage A Jacques Perrin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The first vintage for this cuvee, the still inky colored 1989 Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage À Jacques Perrin is deeper, richer and more powerful than the 1990, yet slightly less evolved and exuberant. From a scorching hot and dry year, this incredible cuvee is massive on all counts, with classic dark fruits, roasted herbs, charred meats, melted licorice and truffle aromas and flavors, full-bodied richness, a dense, layered, multidimensional texture and a blockbuster finish that just wouldn’t quit. Like the 1990, there’s certainly some evolution here, and it’s a gorgeous drink today, but it should easily continue to evolve through 2030+. Coming mostly from a plot of old vines located behind the estate, the Perrin Family’s Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin was first created in 1989 and is a tribute to the late Jacques Perrin, who passed a
