2013 Saxum Paso Robles Tasting Lot
Bid on this 3-bottle 2013 Saxum Paso Robles Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 2013 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhone Blend (98RP, 97WS, 94VN), 1-bottle of 2013 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 95VN, 93WS), and 1-bottle of 2013 Saxum "Rocket Block - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Grenache (98RP, 95VN, 95WS). Of the 2013 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhone Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Leading off the wines tasted from bottle, the 2013 Booker Vineyard is one of the prettier, more elegant and pure examples of this cuvee I can recall. A blend of 67% Syrah and the rest Mourvedre, fermented with 30% whole cluster, this total thrill ride offers sensational notes of creme de cassis, black raspberries, ground herbs and crushed flowers to go with a full-bodied, ultra-pure, silky and seamless style on the palate. This tannin quality is off the charts, but it needs short term cellaring to really show at its best. (JD)" (08/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 95WS, 93ST). Wine Spectator: "*Ranked #5 on Top 100 Wines of 2008, Highly Recommended* This is dense and chewy, but not tiring to drink, thanks to fresh acidity and an edgy, gravelly feel that drives the blackberry, currant and sweet spice notes. The long finish has great briary grip, with notes of garrigue and hot stone checking in. Best from 2010 through 2030. (JM)" (04/2008)

1999 Delas "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Delas "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (OWC - 96RP, 93ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "However, 8-9 years of cellaring are required before this wine rounds into drinkable form. An opaque black/purple color is accompanied by sublime aromas of licorice, espresso, scorched earth, tapenade, bacon fat, and blackberry/cassis liqueur. This is a wine of great intensity, explosive richness, and brutally high tannin. This compelling, majestic Cote Rotie should be at its finest between 2008-2025. Beginning with the 1997 vintage, this firm has made remarkable progress with their Cote Rotie program. The cuvaison lasts twenty days, and Jacques Granges believes in several pigeages (punching down) a day, with pump overs as well." (04/2002)

Great concentration and intensity, with licorice flavors from the Mourvèdre, finishing with chewy tannins. A great year for this wine, which should age well for 15 to 20 years." (12/2001)

Of the 2007 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2007 Bone Rock, which comes from the James Berry Vineyard (82% Syrah, 13% Mourvedre, and the rest Grenache, also aged 28 months in a combination of smaller barrels, demi-muids, and pungeons), is super as well. Like its late-released sibling, it has an inky/purple color to the rim and an extraordinary, soaring set of aromatics consisting of spring flowers, pepper, graphite, blackberry and blueberry fruit with hints of raspberry and licorice and jus de viande as well. The extraordinary freshness and elegance of this wine leads to a minerality that even eclipses the Hear

2007 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (100RP, 98WS, 97ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Utter perfection, and one of the most profound Rhone Ranger wines I have ever tasted... As with many prodigious wines, the extraordinary freshness, purity, equilibrium, and singularity of this effort is breathtaking. Its dense purple color is accompanied by an extraordinary, incredibly pure, all enveloping, intense, sweet nose of black raspberries, kirsch, spring flowers, spice box, and pepper. Full-bodied with not a hard edge to be found, it is stunningly concentrated with unreal purity, a voluptuous texture, and remarkable freshness for a wine of such power, depth, and concentration. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Clos du Caillou "Réserve" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 97WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The best bottle of this I've ever had, the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve was utter perfection on this occasion. Made from a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre that was raised mostly in demi-muids, it exhibits awesome notes of blackberry, licorice, smoked herbs, graphite and tinges of minerality. Decadent, massively full-bodied and with sweet tannin, this thrilling Châteauneuf is hard to resist now, yet should continue to knock it out of the park for another decade or more. (JD)" (02/2015)
