2009 Benjamin Romeo "Contador" Rioja
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Benjamin Romeo "Contador" Rioja (95RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The sensational 2009 Contador is a blend of 97% Tempranillo and 3% Garnacha from several parcels, cropped at 0.5kg per bush vine and aged for 18 months entirely in French oak. The nose is very lifted with floral notes: crushed violets and rose petals sprinkled over cassis and dark plum fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and a gentle, insistent grip. It has a satin-like texture, bewitching harmony and a precise, languorous finish that exhibits spine-tingling minerality. Returning to the bottle hours after opening, it evolves ever-higher degrees of harmony and sumptuousness. It almost leaves you giggling stupidly at how good it is. It is expensive, but it is also cheaper than a First Growth. Drink 2017-2030. (NM)" (08/2012)

1994 Vega Sicilia "Unico" Ribera del Duero
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1994 Vega Sicilia "Unico" Ribera del Duero (96RP, 96WS, 95ST). Wine Spectator: "Still dark in color, with alluring aromas of blackberry, mineral and cigar box, this red shows a firm, fresh, balanced palate, with black cherry, vanilla, mineral and floral flavors that mingle over firm, well-integrated tannins and float onto a long finish. It's harmonious, lively and complex, not showy but with great beauty and character. (TM)" (11/2005)

2001 Bodegas Uvaguilera Aguilera "Palomero" Ribera del Duero
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Bodegas Uvaguilera Aguilera "Palomero" Ribera del Duero (96RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The profound 2001 Palomero boasts an opaque ruby/purple color as well as an extraordinary perfume of sweet saddle leather, smoke, herbs, blackberries, creme de cassis, truffles, and graphite. One of the most prodigious Ribera del Dueros I have tasted, it offers great precision, fabulous concentration, and a long, 40+ second finish. (RP)" (06/2005)

2001 Muga Rioja Riserva
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2001 Muga Rioja Riserva (92RP, 92W&S, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Readers should be purchasing the 2001 Muga Reserva by the case. It is a stunning, unfiltered Rioja made from 70% Tempranillo, 20% Grenache, and the rest Mazuelo and Graciano. A big, rich bouquet of raspberries, cherries, graphite, and tobacco leaves is accompanied by abundant fruit, an expansive, medium to full-bodied palate, elegant, lush flavors, sweet tannin, and hints of cedar and white chocolate. 2004 Bodegas Numanthia-Termes "Numanthia" Toro
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Bodegas Numanthia-Termes "Numanthia" Toro (98RP, 95WS, 94W&S, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " ... The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrel followed by 19 months in new French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. The wine is a glass-coating opaque purple with a killer nose of mineral, pencil lead, wild blueberry, and blackberry liqueur that roars from the glass. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, dense, and already beginning to show complexity within its layers of spicy black fruits. There is immense power, well-concealed ripe tannin, and the well-delineated finish lasts for over one minute. This is a sensational effort which in a perfect world should be cellared for a decade and enjoyed over the following 25+ years. However, the elderly among us should not feel guilty about opening a bottle now. (JM)" (02/2007)
